I have '01 Nissan Sentra. Over the years I kept having my car auto shut off while driving. My recent incident occurs on 2/17/22 while driving on a freeway at 70mph that left me stranded. I had it towed to the nearest auto mechanics. While the engines shuts down, the Service Engine Soon light came on followed by the Battery Icon and Oil Lamp Icon. In the past I had most if not all my catalytic converters and O2 sensors replaced but the problem persisted. Some mechanics stated it was electrical but offered no solution. I did had an oil changed and battery tested a week earlier but no issue was found. My most recent mechanic checked it out and told me it's not the battery nor the alternator, they're both still good. I had to leave my car over the weekends for a full diagnostic.
I was driving on interstate and car stopped while driving almost causing me to not be able to get out of way of traffic
WHEN I AM AT A STOP FOR A RED LIGHT THE CAR VIBRATES THEN SHUTS OFF.
GAS PEDAL STICKS AT IDLE THAT HAVE TO PRESS HARD TO GET MOVING G AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD ONCE THE PEDAL IS UNSTUCK. HAPPENS WHEN STOPPED AT STOP LIGHTS WAITING FOR GREEN SIGNAL OR STOP SIGNS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE IGNITION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,000. *CN
THE CAR IS JERKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ONE AND THE PLACE WHERE I TOOK IT SHOW A RECALL OF THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR ISSUE. I PUT IN MY VIN ON YOUR SITE AND IT SAID THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE BUT YES ITS SHOWING UP. WHAT IS NEED TO BE DONE TO GET THIS CORRECTED BY NISSAN? *TR
WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF AROUND 45 MPH ON A BUSY COLORADO ROADWAY AND THE CAR ALL OF THE SUDDEN STALLED. LOST ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. LUCKILY COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS HAD FAILED. I CALLED NISSAN ON 7/12/2016 AND REPORTED THIS SAFETY ISSUE (REFERENCE NUMBER 22954833). ON 7/14/2016 I TALKED TO [XXX] AT NISSAN AND HE SAID THIS WAS RECALLED IN 2003 AND AN ALREADY CLOSED RECALL. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS GOING TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT TO NISSAN ENGINEERS DEPARTMENT, BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECENT RECALL ISSUE. I STATED THAT BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING THAT PUT PEOPLE?S LIVES AT RISK. I ASKED THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THIS CAR'S MODEL ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS ARE STILL FAILING. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] STATED TO ME THAT WITH THE AGE OF THE CAR THIS IS EXPECTED TO HAPPEN WITH THESE PARTS. I STATED TO HIM THAT BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS ARE STILL FAILING, THEREFORE CAUSING A CAR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPORTED. HE SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO REPORT IT TO ANYONE. I STATED I WAS GOING TO REPORT IT TO THE NHTSA, BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO KNOW THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS FROM THEIR PREVIOUS RECALL. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] THEN STATED IF YOU WANT TO CONTACT THEM GO AHEAD. PLEASE TAKE MY SUBMISSION SERIOUSLY. IF THIS WAS RECALLED IN THE PAST AND IS STILL HAPPENING I FEAR PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE AT RISK. CAR CONSTANTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, STEERING AND BRAKES LOCK UP AS WELL. IT DOES THIS IDLING AT LIGHTS AND WHILE DRIVING MAKING TURNS. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL SENSORS (AT MY EXPENSE) TO TRY TO KEEP THE CAR GOING, BUT I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AS I FEAR IT WILL STALL AGAIN IN TRAFFIC AND POTENTIALLY KILL ME AND MY FAMILY. CHECKED MY VIN AGAINST THE MANY RECALLS THAT WOULD CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS AND STATES THAT NONE OF THESE RECALLS APPLY TO THIS CAR! NISSAN USED TO BE A GOOD COMPANY, NOW IT'S JUST A LEMON FACTORY! WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 PLUS MILES AN HOUR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CLOGGED AND CAUGHT FIRE CAUSING A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER ONE AND RUINING THE IGNITION COIL FOR THAT CYLINDER. I CONTACTED NISSAN AFTER SEEING ONLINE THAT THE EXACT SAME PART HAS MALFUNCTIONED ON SEVERAL OTHER CARS OF THE EXACT SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR A $89 FEE. EVEN IF I HAD THE 89 DOLLARS TO PAY TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED IT WOULD NOT HAVE PAID IT. I DID NOT USE FAULTY MATERIAL IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE AND FEEL THAT ANY DIAGNOSTIC FEE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABSORBED BY NISSAN NORTH AMERICA SINCE THEY VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE PART. IT COULD HAVE BURST INTO FLAMES AND IGNITED THE UNUSED FUEL IN CYLINDER ONE KILLING ME AND MY CHILDREN. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO MY VEHICLE IT HAD ALREADY HAD THE PART REPLACED ONCE AND IT STARTED TO FAIL AGAIN AFTER I WAS THE UNLUCKY PERSON TO BUY IT. AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE REPLACED THE HEAD DUE TO A SAND LIKE MATERIAL THAT EATS AWAY THE HEAD GASKET. THIS MATERIAL IS A PRODUCT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CRUMBLING AND BEING SUCKED INTO THE ENGINES CYLINDERS. I HAVE REPLACED COUNTLESS SENSORS AND EVEN THE CARS COMPUTER TO TRY TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. AFTER FIXING THE ISSUE MYSELF AND REMOVING THE SUSPECT PART I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE WAY NISSAN HAS CHOSEN TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES THAT CONSUMERS OF THEIR PRODUCT HAVE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT SINCE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE PRIVATELY OWNED THEY CAN CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSIS EVEN IF IT IS TO VERIFY IF THE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED PART IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. HAD IT NOT BEEN ELIGIBLE IT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIR ATTEMPTS MADE BY NISSAN. SO I FIXED IT MYSELF AND VOWED NEVER TO BUY ANOTHER NISSAN VEHICLE.
WAS DRIVING WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM WORK, AND CAR SHUT OFF AND STALLED. LOSING ALL POWER, AND MAKING IT HARD TO STEER OFF THE ROAD. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL CAR SHOP, THEY HAD TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE. AND CALL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY HAD TOLD ME THERE WERE NO OPEN CLAIMS . *TR
RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPS RUNNING AND THEN TURNS BACK ON. THIS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH SINCE I LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT THAT SPEED. I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL ISSUED BY NHTSA ID # 03V455000 FOR NISSAN SENTRA 2001 REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I CONTACTED NISSAN BY PHONE AND THEY INFORMED THERE ARE NO RECALLS PENDING ON MY VEHICLE. I ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN BY E-MAIL IF MY VEHICLE WAS OR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. IF NOT, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF SAFERCAR.GOV CAN INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL AND HAVE IT FIXED. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01V357000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON PA ST RD 31, AT 45MPH, AROUND 6PM, NOVEMBER 10. 2014, A 2006 CHEVY MALIBU DARTED OUT FROM A SIDE STREET WITHOUT YIELDING IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. AS THE OTHER VEHICLE WHEN DARTING OUT FROM INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MINE, THEREFORE WAS UNABLE TO STOP TO PREVENT CRASH. SWERVED RIGHT TO TRY TO AVOID COLLISION BUT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID CONTACT. CONTACT WAS MADE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE, AS WELL AS THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED. THERE WAS NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS. *TR
CAR WAS DRIVEN THE DAY BEFORE, RAN JUST FINE. NEXT MORNING, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 1 MILE, BEGAN RUNNING TERRIBLE. THE ECU (ECM) IS NO LONGER SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE NUMBER 2 IGNITION COIL. I KNOW THAT THESE CARS HAD A RECALL ON THE FOAM COVERING THE ECU, THAT RECALL WAS DONE AND FOAM REMOVED. CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE IN BELONG TO A 90 YEAR OLD LADY, SHE BOUGHT IT NEW. I HAVE FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF THESE CARS NOW HAVE BAD ECU, TIME FOR A RECALL!! *TR

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS, I HAVE EXPERIENCE THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN WHEN THE CAR IS IDLE, AT A STOP, OR DURING MOVEMENT A LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. I HAVE HAD DIFFERENT MECHANICS LOOKED AT THIS ISSUE, BUT NEITHER ONE WAS ABLE TO PIN POINT THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE RESET THE 'SERVICE ENGINE' LIGHT SO MANY TIMES, BUT THIS ISSUE KEEPS RETURNING. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND A RECALL ON NISSAN SENTRA THAT SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING (01V357 AND 03V455). I CALLED NISSAN FOR DETAILS ON THIS ISSUE AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IN THE LIST OF RECALL VEHICLES. I FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN (CASE# 11305573) HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS ISSUE TO YOUR ATTENTION SINCE IT MIGHT CAUSE INJURIES TO OTHERS WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR VIN SHOULD ALSO BE CHECKED FOR FAULTY ECU AND/OR WIRE SENSOR. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN OKLAHOMA IN APRIL 2013, AND ALL THE DASH GAUGES QUIT ON THE WAY HOME, ALONG WITH THE ODOMETER GOING OUT. AFTER THE CAR COOLED DOWN, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE CAR WAS THEN DRIVEN CROSS COUNTRY TO WASHINGTON STATE, AND WHEN THE HEATER WAS TURNED ON, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. ONCE COOLED OFF, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. THE CAR WAS THEN DRIVEN TO TEXAS, AND THE SAME ISSUES CAME UP, ALL CENTERED AROUND TEMPERATURE. IT SEEMS WHEN THE HEATER IS TURNED ON (WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN WA), OR IF IT IS HOT OUTSIDE (THE DRIVE TO TEXAS, AND WHILE THE CAR HAS BEEN IN TEXAS), THE GAUGES WILL STOP WORKING AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, AND WILL START WORKING AGAIN ONCE THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE CAR HAS COOLED DOWN. CURRENTLY WE ARE HAVING 100 DEGREE WEATHER DAYS IN TEXAS, SO IF THE CAR IS HOT WHEN LEAVING THE HOUSE, THE GAUGES WON'T WORK, UNTIL THE AC HAS BEEN ON ENOUGH TO COOL THE INSIDE OF THE CAR (AND I ASSUME GAUGES) DOWN. USING THE CAR AFTER THE AC HAS BEEN ON AND THE INSIDE OF THE CAR IS COOL, THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE GAUGES. IF YOU TURN THE AC OFF AND ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN, ONCE THE HEAT BUILDS UP IN THE CAR (ABOUT 85 DEGREES OR SO), THE GAUGES WILL GO OFF AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE EACH TIME, BUT THE FAILURE PROGRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP MORE THAN ONCE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND CONTINUED TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 03V477000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V477000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION MODULE) BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE EXHIBITED LOW ENGINE POWER WITH HESITATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE ENGINE STALLED FIVE TIMES AND RESTARTED BEFORE REACHING THE DESTINATION. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V357000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: ENGINE: GASOLINE). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT IT WOULD VIBRATE AND SHAKE. THE DEALER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, FUEL INJECTOR AND IGNITION COIL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,044. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,744.
2001 NISSAN SENTRA 1.8L MY CAR HEAD GASKET FAILED AND IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM WITH A FAULTY HEAD GASKET THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. THE CAR OVERHEATED ON THE HIGHWAY ALL OF THE SUDDEN IN A FAST TRAFFIC LANE AND IT STARTED LOOSING POWER ON AN INCLINE, IT WAS SCARY. *TR
WHILE MOVING AND SITTING AT A STANDSTILL FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AT IDLE SPEED IT WILL STALL. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACTS MECHANIC REPLACED THE IGNITION COIL FUSE AND THE VEHICLE RAN NORMAL FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN BEGAN HESITATING AND EXHIBITING RECURRENCES OF STALLING. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE CONTACT INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER AND HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST WITH HIS VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR HIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY ARE ONLY COVERING TWO ENGINES TYPES AND THE CONTACT VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WILL HAVE TO GET HIS VEHICLE REPAIRED AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY LOCAL DEALER AFTER HIS VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED THAT THE FAILURE WAS HIS ECN WHICH IS THE COMPUTER IN HIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE NO SPARK AND NO FUEL GOING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 151000.
MY VEHICLE ALMOST STALLED ON THE FREEWAY. A VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME AT A SLOW PACE. TOOK MY VEHICLE WHICH IS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA GXE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT MY PROBLEM WAS THE ECU SYSTEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ECU SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR ANY RECALLS FOR THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE MODEL. THERE WERE 8 RECALLS FOR THAT YEARS MODEL. ONE OF THE RECALLS INVOLVED THE ECU SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE RECALL WAS CONSISTENT TO THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY HAD ALREADY ARCHIVED MY VEHICLES VIN NUMBER AND I HAD TO WAIT 24 HOURS FOR THEM TO REACH ME TO ONLY ADVISE ME THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THAT VEHICLE. I KNOW OF ONE RECALL I RECEIVED IN 2004 ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS. MANY VEHICLES FOR THAT PARTICULAR YEAR HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME RESULTS. NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR "LEMONS." MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 82000 MILES ON IT. THE ECU SHOULD NOT BE BAD. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE IS A RECALL BUT FOR SOME REASON IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS ARCHIVED AND IT HAS NOT BEEN 10 YEARS. *TR
ON 12/4/09 MY CAR DIED LEAVING ME STRANDED. I HAD IT TOWED TO BRADS AUTO CLOSE TO MY HOUSE FOR $130. THEY STATED THE DIAGNOSTIC STATES"CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR" CODE. THE PART WAS PUT IN THE VEHICLE BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BRAD'S FELT PART WAS DEFECTIVE. NO OTHER CRANK SENSOR WAS AVAILABLE IN CITY. I HAD TO WAIT FOR IT TO BE SHIPPED ON TUESDAY FROM THE FACTORY. IT ARRIVED & WAS PUT IN AND SAME THING HAPPEN. IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. BRAD'S TOLD ME THAT WITH THE CRANK SENSOR THAT WAS ALREADY IN THE CAR IT STARTS UP BUT DIES, WHEN THE NEW SENSORS IS ADDED IT WON'T START AT ALL. BRAD'S RESEARCHED & FOUND THIS IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. BRAD'S CALLED NISSAN SERVICE. A PERSON STATED THAT CAM SENSOR & CRANK SENSOR ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. ACCORDING TO BRAD'S RESEARCH ALL DATA SHOWS THEY ARE DIFFERENT. BRAD'S MENTION THE RECALL. THE SERVICE PERSON DENIED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. BRAD'S STATED HE HAD THE RECALL IN HIS HAND WITH THE RECALL NUMBER SHOWING IT MATCHES MY VIN. BRAD'S CONTACTED ME AND I CALLED THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. THAT SAID ALL I COULD DO IS TOW IT TO THEM AT MY EXPENSE. MY DAD REMINDED THAT I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT BACK IN MARCH 2008. ON MY PAPERWORK. IT STATES THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS. IT STATES NISSAN REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THEN THEY REPLACED THE ECM. BOTH OF THESE ITEMS ARE DISCUSSED ON THE INVOICE AS A RECALL ITEM. IN THAT INCIDENT'S, IT WAS A SATURDAY AND NO SERVICE PLACES WERE OPEN. I FOUND ONE & TOWED IT THERE. WHEN HE PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC IT STATED "CRANK SHAFT SENSOR." HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO HAVE NISSAN FIX IT. I PAID $71.00 TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM MY HOUSE TO THAT SHOP OWNER & THEN ANOTHER $88 TO TOW IT TO NISSAN. THE NEW INCIDENT IS OBVIOUSLY RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS. NISSAN HEADQUARTERS STATED THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR ANY TOWS & THEY WOULD NOT ABSORB CHARGES DUE TO BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. NISSAN'S SOLUTION IS INEFFECTIVE, & IS NOT PART OF A WARRANTY. A RECALL SHOULD NOT COST ME ANYTHING. *TR

THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT RECALL NUMBER 03V477000, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, IGNITION MODULE WAS RELATED; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 110,000.

NEW MICHELIN HARMONY TIRES INSTALLED 1/07 BY REPUTABLE DEALER; TIRES REGULARLY CHECKED/ROTATED BY DEALER. DRIVING FINE, WAS PARKED, CAME OUT TO LEAVE AND CAR SOUNDED FUNNY...PULLED OVER ON SAME PARKING LOT AND DISCOVERED FLAT TIRE. TIRE DEALER REPORTS "BAD VALVE...THERE IS A SILENT RECALL". OTHER DEALER WHO INSTALLED THE TIRES FOUND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE; HE'D NOT HEARD ABOUT IT...TOOK BAD TIRE OUT TO HIM, AND ALSO FOUND RECALL INFO ON LINE BY GOOGLING "TIRE VALVE RECALL". THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS SIDEWALL DAMAGE AND TIRE SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY REASONS. ROAD HAZARD GUARANTEE NOT APPLICABLE DUE TO DETERMINATION THAT "TIRE WAS RUN FLAT". ONLY WAS DRIVEN ON PARKING LOT A ABOUT 100 YARDS AT MOST. INFO ON NET INDICATES TIRES COULD LOSE PRESSURE RAPIDLY AND IT WOULD NOT BE VISUALLY EVIDENT; DRIVING ON LOW PRESSURE WOULD CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE AS I HAD. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WENT ON 2/1/09. TROUBLE WAS REPORTED ON 2/5/09 WHEN VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED FOR SERVICE AT MIDAS AUTO SERVICE, 463 GLYNN ST., FAYETTEVILLE, GA. REFER TO INVOICE WHERE A RELAY/ECM WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME TO OWNER'S RESIDENCE AT 6302 MORGAN PLACE CT., ATLANTA, GA. A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC EVENT FOLLOWED WHEN THE OWNER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON AN ATLANTA INTERSTATE AND THE CAR CUT OFF AND A SERIOUS WRECK WAS SOMEHOW AVERTED. VEHICLE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED TO FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE; 2460 N DRUID HILLS RD. NE. SYMPTOM WAS DESCRIBED: ''CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. OIL LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON FIRST'. THE DIAGNOSTIC PACKAGE REVEALED, '' CODES P0140, P0505, P0137, AND P0460 WHICH INDICATED A TOTAL EMISSIONS FAILURE ON THE CAT CONVERTER AND ALL FOUR O2 SENSORS. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE VEHICLE IGNITION RELAY CIRCUIT (RELAY REPLACED 2/1/09) REPEATEDLY BLEW FUSES. THE VEHICLE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DRIVEN BACK TO MIDAS AUTO SERVICE, 463 GLYNN ST., FAYETTEVILLE, GA WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION AND SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH INDICATED THAT THE ECM MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE SAFETY RECALL FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NO. 03V477000, CAME UP IN THE MIDAS RESEARCH AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LINING MATERIAL FROM THE ECM BOX HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. *TR

AFTER THE REPLACEMENT THE RPM READING WOULD REMAIN AT 2000 AND THE SPEED WOULD REMAIN AT 30 MPH WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE WIRES HAD BEEN DAMAGED WHEN THE COMPUTER WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
LEAKAGE TO THE HEAD GASKET IN 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS FREQUENTLY IN THIS VEHICLE DUE TO INFERIOR MATERIALS (ALUMINUM) USED IN THE MATERIALS USED FOR THE HEAD GASKET. IT WAS NOTICED AS I WAS DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL ON A VERY BUSY STREET. I HAVE HAD FREQUENT PREVENTABLE MAINTENANCE SERVICED ON MY CAR AND THIS WAS NOT DETECTABLE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. MY MECHANIC HAS SINCE REPLACED THE PART AND HAD TO TAKE APART HALF OF THE ENGINE TO DO SO WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE VERY COSTLY. ON A WAY HOME FROM A LONG TRIP (160 MILES EACH WAY), MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING ON A HIGHWAY. IT STARTED AGAIN AND RAN FOR ANOTHER 30 MILES OR SO AND COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING AND DID NOT RESTART. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY GARAGE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED TO REQUIRE A NEW CAM POSITION SENSOR. I WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP BECAUSE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. MY FAMILY HAD TO DRIVE 200 MILES TO GET ME HOME. RECENTLY, "SERVICE ENGINE" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DURING TWO LONG TRIPS, BUT THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AFTER REPLACING OR TIGHTENING THE GAS CAP. AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT, NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP (HIGH POINT) CALLED LATER AND SAID THAT "THE GOOD NEWS" WAS THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THREE RECALLED PARTS, TWO OF WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AND I DROVE 200 MILES TO GET IT HOME. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL UNTIL THIS INCIDENT EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL CAMPAIGN HAS STARTED BEFORE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AS A USED CAR ON FEB. 29, 2004. SHOULD THIS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BEFORE THE PURCHASE, OR SHOULD WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. THERE WERE MUCH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH TOWING, EXTRA ENGINE CHECK AS WELL AS PERSONAL TIME SPENT ON DRIVING BACK AND FORTH. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF A LAW. I RECENTLY SPOKE WITH A FRIEND WHO OWNS A SAME MODEL CAR. THEIR DEALERSHIP (SERVICE DEPARTMENT, MIGHT BE UNDER THE SAME OWNERSHIP) TOLD THEM THAT THEIR CAR WOULD NEED SOME SENSORS WHICH MAY SOMETIMES CAUSE THEIR "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT TO COME ON. YET NO INFORMATION OF RECALL OR POTENTIAL SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THEM. THIS MAKES ME WONDER IF SOME DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT ONLY NEGLECTING RECALL CAMPAIGN BUT ALSO INTENTIONALLY AVOIDING THE RECALL REPAIR. *TR
THE LEFT-REAR SEAT BELT HAS MALFUNCTIONED IN THE "TIGHT" POSITION AND IS NOT USABLE. IT WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE TENSION CONTROL DEVICE. *TR

REGARDING THE BROKEN OIL DIP STICK: 1- DRAIN THE OIL AND LEAVE THE DRAIN PLUG OUT. 2 - USE A SHOP VACUUM TO SUCK THE LOST DIP STICK OUT OF THE ENGINE. 3 - REPLACE OIL DRAIN PLUG, REFILL WITH OIL, REPLACE NEW DIP STICK. *TR
