FRONT AND REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS. FIXED BY MECHANIC. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN WITH BLOWN ENGINE DUE TO FUEL PUMP. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. SHE STATES THAT THE CLOSEST DEALER IS IN CANADA AND THEY TOLD THEM THE FUEL PUMP FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BLOW. *KB
2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE REAR END IS ABOUT TO FAIL OR HAS FAILED. THERE SEEMS TO BE PLAY IN THE DRIVE LINE WHEN YOU ACCELERATE CAUSING A SLIGHT BUMP. NO THING HAS BEEN DONE AT THIS TIME. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN LE 4X4 REAR DIFF FAILURE AT ABOUT 53K, WAS REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE THE NEW DIFF WAS PUT IN, NOISE AND THUMPING CAN BE HEARD AND FELT WHEN STOPPING AND GOING COMING FROM THE REAR. WHEN PUTTING THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE FROM PARK YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL THE DRIVE SHAFT BANG WHEN IT GOES INTO GEAR, THERE IS TOO MUCH SLACK IN THE REAR AND THE DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG WHEN THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG. I FEEL THAT THE REAR WILL AGAIN FAIL. *TR
AFTER APPROX 38,000 MILES THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO EXCESSIVE LEAKAGE. AT 43,600 MILES THE REAR AXLE HAS FAILED, ONE MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS AS SIMPLE AS THE CLUTCH PLATES STICKING WHICH CAUSED THE REAR TIRES TO TURN THE SAME SPEED WHEN TURNING CAUSING THE INSIDE TIRE TO SPIN OUT. LOUD BANGING STARTED TO OCCUR ABOUT 60 MILES BEFORE TOTAL FAILURE, IN 40 MILE BEFORE, WHEN LEAVING A GAS STATION THE TRUCK HAD SHAKEN VIOLENTLY ON TAKE OFF THEN SUBSIDED AS ACCELERATION INCREASED. WITH ANY SMALL TURN, THE LOUD BANGING RETURNED. ON SHARP TURNS THE TRUCK SEEMED TO PULL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, EVEN AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 20 MPH. I DECIDED TO PUT THE TRUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE, WHICH HELPED SOMEWHAT, PROBABLY TAKING SOME OF THE LOADING OFF THE REAR AXLE, BUT THE DRIVE WASN'T EASY. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT MY TITAN AND AFTER RAISING THE REAR END AND SPINNING THE TIRES HE SAID THE SPIDER GEAR WAS SHOT AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER 50 MILES AWAY, DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF BECAUSE THEY WERE CLOSED BUT DID HAVE THE CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EARLIER. THE SERVICE REP GUESSED THE REAR OF MY TRUCK BEFORE I COULD SAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY REAR AXLE. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE SERVICE REP CALLED ME AND SAID THE REAR AXLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, WHEN THE FIRST MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM, I NOTICED BOTH SEALS ON THE AXLE WERE LEAKING, THE DRIVER SIDE EXCESSIVELY. I USE MY TITAN FOR EVERYDAY COMMUTE AND OFTEN TOW MY 4,000 POUND TRAVEL TRAILER. WHEN TOWING AND TURNING SHARPLY, SOMETIMES THE INSIDE WHEEL WOULD SPIN OUT, I THOUGHT THIS MAY BE NORMAL BUT I GUESS WHEN UNDER LOAD THE DIFFERENTIAL DOES NOT RELEASE PROPERLY CAUSING THE SPIN. WHEN FINAL FAILURE OCCURRED, THE REAR END WOULD SLIP OR SKIP AS IF GEARS WERE MISSING. WHEN I PARKED THE TRUCK FOR THE LAST TIME IT HAD MOVED SEVERAL INCHES BACK UNTIL ANOTHER GEAR ENGAGED. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT BREATHING IN CARBON MONOXIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. UPDATED 8/21/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD MULTIPLE EXHAUST LEAKS THAT WERE CAUSED BY FAULTY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS FROM NISSAN. THE DEALER AT THE TIME, REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. THEY USED THE SAME MANIFOLD DESIGN AND THIS WAS ALL DONE UNDER WARRANTY. AROUND APRIL 2013, THE CONSUMER BEGAN HEARING THE SAME EXHAUST NOISE FROM BEFORE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND THEY INFORMED HIM THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT BOTH MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED, WITH A MODIFIED DESIGN MANIFOLD.
REAR AXLE SHAFT SEAL DEFECTIVE. *JB
BOTH OF MY REAR AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING ON MY 2004 TITAN[67000 MILES] . MY DEALER POINTED THIS OUT TO ME WHILE HE WAS PERFORMING SERVICE ON MY TRUCK. FLUID WAS ALL OF THE INSIDE OF THE REAR WHEELS. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER TOWED AND HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. TRUCK IS STOCK. *JB
RT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING, DEALER CALLED BACK AND STATED THE THERE WAS METAL IN THE REAR END LUBE AND THE ENTIRE REAR END WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN TITAN SE. TWO YEARS AGO MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT. I PAID $4000 TO GET IT FIXED AT NISSAN OF PANAMA CITY CAUSE THEY SAID IT DOESN'T HAPPEN THAT OFTEN. I WAS JUST ON TITAN TALK AND ALLOT OF GUYS ARE SAYING THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IF IT WAS A PROBLEM COULD I GET COMPENSATED FROM NISSAN. *TR

TOOK TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD REAR END WAS LEAKING (NOT IN MY GARAGE), AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THE VDC, BRAKE, AND SLIP WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND REMAIN ON. UNABLE TO ASCERTAIN ANY OTHER IMPACT AT THIS TIME. AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER IS PENDING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO INSTANTLY ENGAGE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63,000.
LEAKING REAR AXLE SEALS ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DISCOVERED AT 51,000 MILES NOT SURE WHEN LEAKS STARTED, BUT BOTH HUBS HAVE OIL DRIPPING OFF OF THEM. *TR
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING, FLUID LEAKING ONTO BRAKE ASSEMBLY; LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL SEEPING. SEALS HAD BEEN LEAKING FOR A WHILE. ALL PROBLEMS FIXED BY DEALER, BUT NISSAN SHOULD USE AN IMPROVED AXLE SEAL, AND A DIFFERENT AXLE VENT SYSTEM. THE VENT DOES NOT ALLOW AIR PRESSURE TO RETURN INTO THE AXLE HOUSING WHEN THERE IS A NEGATIVE PRESSURE SITUATION. A LONG VENT HOSE RUN UPWARDS IN THE BODY WITH A FILTER IS A SUGGESTED SOLUTION ON WWW.TITANTALK.COM, AND PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS AXLE SEAL FAILURES HAVE PERFORMED THIS FIX AND NO LONGER EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. NISSAN SHOULD RECALL ALL TITANS AND PATHFINDERS WITH THIS AXLE VENT SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE VENT WITH SOMETHING BETTER. UNTIL THIS IS PERFORMED, AXLE SEALS WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL AND FLUID WILL CONTINUE TO POTENTIALLY LEAK ONTO BRAKE ASSEMBLIES. *JB

MY NISSAN TITAN CREWS BRAKES WERE NOT PERFORMING WELL ON A TRIP I TOOK. AFTER GETTING HOME I NOTICED OIL ON MY GARAGE FLOOR AT BOTH REAR BRAKES. THE REAR DIFF. WAS LEAKING ALL OVER THE BRAKE BACKING PLATE TO THE EXTENT THAT OIL WAS BEING SLUNG THROUGHOUT THE WHEEL WELL. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET SINCE I JUST FOUND THIS PROBLEM BUT I AM AT 38,000 MI. JUST 2000 MI. OUT OF WARRANTY. I CHECKED ONLINE AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I FEEL NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *JB
OWN 2004 NISSAN TITAN SE KING CAB 4X4 PICK UP TRUCK. NOW HAVE 75,000 MILES AND THE REAR AXLE SEALS LEAK, NOT SURE HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON BUT THE INSIDE OF THE REAR DISC BRAKE SHIELDS OUR COVERED WITH THE REAR AXLE OIL. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
UPON ACCELERATING, THE TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. IT NOW JERKS AFTER COASTING WHEN ADDING POWER, AND CLICKS/THUMPS VERY LOUDLY WHILE TURNING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FROM THE REAR, MORE SO WHEN THERE IS POWER WHILE TURNING. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING AFTER ONLY 33,000 MILES. I CAUGHT IT EARLY BUT I CONCERNED ABOUT HOW EARLY THIS HAS HAPPENED. SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR
UPON ACCELERATION, TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. NOW, COASTING THEN ADDING POWER, TRUCK JERKS, AND LOUD CLUNKS WHILE TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION COMING FROM THE REAR. *JB
2004 NISSAN TITAN, BOTH REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS, BEING REPLACED 8/23/2007. VENT TUBE WET WITH OIL, SUSPECT IMPROPER VENTING OF DIFFERENTIAL IS CAUSING SEAL FAILURES. *TR
HEARD NOISES WHEN ENGAGING UNIT INTO GEAR FROM PARK OR REVERSE. SLUGGISH RESPONSE. DEALER ORDERED NEW REAR END TO BE INSTALLED ON 08/13/07. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROTORS ON HIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN OCTOBER OF 2005 DUE TO A SAFETY RECALL. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIMES WERE DUE TO SO MUCH CORROSION THAT THE BRAKE PADS DETACHED FROM THE BRAKES. THE POWER STEERING LINE HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN TWO MONTHS. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VIN, PURCHASE DATE, SPEED, AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE GAS GAUGE FOR THE 2005 NISSAN TITAN BUT MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN HAS BEEN HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERING MORE AND SOMETIMES LESS GAS THAN IS ACTUALLY IN THE VEHICLE FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS BUT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO MAKE THE REPAIR. HOW CAN I GET THIS ISSUE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER? SOMETIMES THE GAS GAUGE WILL DROP ALL THE WAY TO EMPTY WHEN IT HAS MORE THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, GEAR OIL BEGAN LEAKING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED THE AXLE SHAFT AND THE AXLE GEAR OIL. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED AROUND 55-65 IN HOUSTON TEXAS. A CAR PULLED IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO PUT THE BRAKES ON QUICKLY. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL MUSHED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE BARLEY SLOWED DOWN. I MADE MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE BRAKES MADE AN LOUD GRINDING NOISE, AND LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED(WITH OUT GETTING HIT MY CARS) I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I HAD TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND AS I SAT THERE I HEARD A NOISE UNDER THE DASH, LIKE SOMETHING RESET ITSELF. I START THE TRUCK UP AND MOVED SLOWLY FORWARD TO SEE IF I HAD BRAKES AND SUDDENLY THEY WERE WORKING AGAIN. THIS TRUCK HAS DONE THIS A MILLION TIMES AND IT IS JUST BY LUCK THAT I HAVE NO BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE BRAKES GO OUT. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL AND NOTHING HE CAN DO WITHOUT A THOUSAND DOLLARS AND THEN HE ISN'T SURE IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM STUCK WITH THIS TRUCK AND IT CONTINUES TO LOOSE THE BRAKES. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE 2011. *TR
REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE OCCURRED AT 35,000 MILES. AXLE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY (HAPPY CUSTOMER). AXLE ASSEMBLY HAS NOW FAILED AGAIN AT 81,000 MILES. NO WARRANTY THIS TIME. *TR
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING CAUSING DAMAGE TO PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE BRAKES STARTED TO PULSATE. THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES WERE WORN OUT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES AND ONE WEEK LATER THE BRAKES STARTED TO PULSATE WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IF THE FAILURE PERSIST. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK WHILE DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PULSATING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO TAKE THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SENSOR MAY HAVE CAUSED THE BRAKES TO MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 11/11/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT BEGAN TO PULSATE AS IF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. UPDATED 11/18/18*JB
PASSENGER SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING BADLY. AXLE ASSEMBLY REPLACED DUE TO WHINE NOISE AND LEAK. *TR
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 56,000 MILES THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. NISSAN REPLACED SPACER AXLE (43070-7S200), BEARING (40210-7S210), AND SEAL (43252-7S200). AS THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OFFER A PERMANENT FIX SO IT WOULD NOT BE FACED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN - BRAKE LOCKS UP WITH A GRINDING NOISE FOR NO APPARENT REASON OCCURS SO FAR AT ONLY LOW SPEEDS. HAS RE-OCCURED NOT LESS THAN 5 TIMES IN TWO YEARS. RE-PRORGAMMING BREAKS BY NISSAN DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM

MY REAR AXLE SEAL IS LEAKING FOR THE SECOND TIME WITH LESS THAN 27,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THE FIRST TIME IT STARTED LEAKING WAS AROUND 12,000 MILES AND THIS SECOND TIME IS WITH 26,700 MILES. *TR
REAR SEAL LEAKING FLUID INTO BRAKE COMPONENTS. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SEAL LEAKING. *AK
TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A 30K MILE CHECK UP AND THEY FOUND THE REAR AXLE SEAL TO BE LEAKING. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED BUT WITH THE SAME PART AS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED SO I WORRY THAT I WILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN ONCE OUT OF WARRANTY.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONTACT ALMOST STRUCK TWO PEDESTRIANS. SHE HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 79,000. THE CONSUMER STATED ON 3/26/07 WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AT SIGNAL AND SHE HIT THE REAR OF A PICK UP AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE OTHER PERSON SUSTAINED BACK INJURY. THE DEALER STATED TICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE, REAR DOOR WEATHER STRIP IS HANGING, EXHAUST LEAK SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING, AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS PEGGING HIGH. UPDATED 11/08/07 *TR

I OWN A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR BRAKE FAILURE NUMEROUS TIMES. I RECENTLY HAD A CAR ACCIDENT IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF BRAKE FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED , AND THE VEHICLE I HIT WAS ALSO DAMAGED, AND SUSTAINED INJURIES. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THE DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR IT, I HAVE STACKS OF SERVICE RECORDS , WHERE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR BRAKE FAILURE SINCE 2004 WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. AT 18,047 MILES I PULLED MY TRAVEL TRAILER 850 MILES . AFTER THE TRIP THE REAR DRIVE MEMBER STARTED WHINING. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, THAT EVALUATED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE COMPLETE REAR DRIVE MEMBER, IF THIS HAD LOCKED UP IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. *TR

FAILED REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEAL ON REAR TIRES. OIL WAS LEAKING SO BADLY THAT GOT TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM, REDUCING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE BRAKING POWER. *AK
2004 NISSAN TITAN 4WD. AT 54,000 MILES THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL GEARS BLEW APART WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS DESTROYED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND CAUSED $3000 WORTH OF REPAIRS. THE REAR AXLE SEALS ON BOTH SIDES WERE LEAKING AT THE TIME THE GEARS FAILED. APPARENTLY, THIS WAS BECOMING A COMMON PROBLEM/DEFECT WITH MOST NISSAN TITAN ,THOUGH SO FAR NISSAN SEEMS TO BE IGNORING THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THE REAR END GEAR FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IF THE GEARS FAILED AND LOCK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THEY COULD CAUSE THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A TICKING NOISE FROM THE HEADER AND ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NOW THE DEALER WAS STATING THAT THE HEADERS AND MANIFOLD WERE DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE OIL PRESSURE AND THE HEADERS ON BOTH SIDES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
