GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN CAUSED ME TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATES THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL IS BLOWN, AND THAT NEW BEARINGS AND SEALS ARE NEEDED TO FIX. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 71,000 MILES, REGULARLY SERVICED AND HAS NEVER TOWED A THING. *TR
I HAD TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE ON MY TRUCK. THE PEDAL GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR INTERMITTENTLY DURING DRIVING. DEALER REPORTS THEY CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS EVEN AFTER SHOWING THEM THAT THE PEDAL DOES GO TO THE FLOOR. I BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE BOOSTER, AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH IF IT HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY OR AT ANY SIGNIFICANT SPEED. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A TECH BULLETIN AND A RECALL NOTICE SENT OUT ASAP, AND THE REPAIRS TO BE MADE UNDER WARRANTY BY NISSAN. *TR
I NEARLY ROLLED MY TRUCK YESTERDAY AT 75MPH. THE REAREND LOCKED UP AND I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH THE 04 NISSAN TITANS! THIS COULD HAVE COST ME OR ANOTHER INNOCENT PERSON THEIR LIFE! NOW I AM LEFT TO FACE A REPAIR BILL OF $3500 FOR A NEW DANA REAREND, NISSAN AND DANA CORP NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE CHEAP, UNRELIABLE REARENDS!!! PLEASE HELP! *TR
I HEAR A CLUNK FROM THE REAR END WHENEVER I SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, KIND OF LIKE IF A U-JOINT WAS GOING OUT. I ALSO HEAR A LOW PITCH WHINE AT ACCELERATION 50-60 MPH, BUT DON'T HEAR IT UPON DECELERATION. I ALSO HAVE A REAR AXEL LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE, AND NOTICED THAT MY REAR DIFFS PAINT IS PEELING WHICH LOOKS TO BE FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT. *TR
LEFT STOP LIGHT TURN CORNER AND THE REAR END OF OUR 2004 NISSAN TITIAN LOCKED UP. COST TO US WAS $5,000.00 FOR REPAIRS. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN BRAKE FAILURE/JUDDER NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. NISSAN HAS SEVERAL TSB ON THIS ISSUE. THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO DEMAND NISSAN RECALL AND REPAIR THE BRAKE SYSTEM OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING AT 60,000 MILES CAUSING OIL TO GET ON BRAKES. *TR
FAILURE OF REAR END DIFFERENTIAL ON 2004 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 SE 63,113MI. NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. REQUIRES ENTIRE NEW REAR END APPROXIMATELY $3,500 REPAIR COST. *TR
THE AXLE HOUSING SEALS WERE LEAKING ON MY 2004 TITAN SO I BROUGHT IT TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. THE SERVICE MEMBER INFORMED ME THAT REPLACING THE SEALS WOULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY HAD ALREADY TRIED ON NUMEROUS OTHER TRUCKS AND THE NEW SEALS CONTINUED TO LEAK. PENCE NISSAN REPLACED THE ENTIRE REAR END UNIT AS THEY DID WITH OTHER TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE REPLACEMENT UNIT WAS NOT THE SAME THAT CAME ON THE TRUCK. I ASKED THE SERVICE MEMBER WHY AND HE STATED THE ORIGINAL UNIT HAS BEEN PROBLEMATIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITIAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. *TR
VEHICLE IS A '04 NISSAN TITAN. DEALER REPORTS THAT BOTH REAR OUTER SEALS ARE LEAKING AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE STARTED THE VEHICLE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAKAGE IN BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. PROCEEDING INTO TRAFFIC FROM SIDE ROAD AND HEARD LOUD CLUNK, LOST ALL POWER AND WAS COASTING IN TRAFFIC, PUT IN NEUTRAL THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND WOULD MOVE, THEN TIRES LOCKED UP AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT. REMOVED REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER AND FOUND TEETH FROM GEARS IN DIFFERENTIAL CASE. HAS 71,000 MILES ON TRUCK. AT NISSAN NOW WAITING TO SEE IF COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL HAS FAILED RESULTING IN LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ONTO WHEEL AND BRAKES. *TR
LEFT SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK ON 2004 NISSAN TITAN. *TR
LEFT & RIGHT REAR AXLE SEALS BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 85000 MILES NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACED SPACER AXLE (43070-7S200), BEARING (40210-7S210), AND SEAL (43252-7S200). AS THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OFFER A PERMANENT FIX SO WOULD NOT BE FACED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. *TR
DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE (GEARS ARE POPPING AND BANGING). SOME MODELS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO LOCK UP DURING HIGHWAY USE, MINE HAS NOT AS OF YET AS IT IS AT THIS POINT INOPERABLE IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION. NO WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED AS OF YET, I AM TRYING TO GET NISSAN TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART, AS IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
TURNED ON ENGINE AND TRIED TO SHIFT FROM PARK. I HEARD A CRACK AND A PART FELL OUT OF THE COLUMN SHIFT ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL AND COULD NOT BE PUT IN GEAR. I ONLY REALIZED THIS AS THE CAR ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NISSIN DEALER. I DID FIND OUT A PARTIAL RECALL WAS STARTED FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 65 & 70 MPH AND THE ENGINE WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE AND BASICALLY RAN AT IDLE SPEED (10 MILES PER HOUR). I PARKED THE TRUCK, TURNED OFF ENGINE, RESTARTED, IT REMAINED IN IDLE SPEED ONLY, TURNED OFF ENGINE AND LEFT OFF FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES - IT STARTED AND RAN NORMAL. DEALER REPLACED ECM. THIS OCCURRED IN MAY 2007 AND THEN MY SON WAS DRIVING TODAY APRIL 2, 2008 AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND ENGINE JUST CUT OFF COMPLETELY (NOW AT THE DEALER). THIS IS HIGH RISK - IMAGINE TURNING ACROSS A LANE OF TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE QUITTING OR PULLING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY AND TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED AND ENGINE QUITTING. *TR
NOTICED THAT THE REAR TIRES HAD FLUID RUNNING FROM THE BRAKES, WHEN LOOKED INTO THE PROBLEM FURTHER IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SEALS WERE LEAKING. THE REAR AXLE ON MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 55K MILES. EVERYONE I SPOKE TO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SAYS IT IS UNUSUAL THAT BOTH SIDES WOULD LEAD AT THE SAME TIME. THE TRUCK WAS IN FOR REPAIR DUE TO A ACCIDENT. NOW THE REAR LOCATION WAS NOT TOUCHING DURING THE REPAIR AND THE LEAK WAS NOTICED AFTER THE REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED. *TR
THE REAR AXLE SEALS ON MY '04 NISSAN TITAN, ARE LEAKING. THIS IS APPARENTLY CAUSED BY A POORLY DESIGNED BREATHER VALVE. I HAVE CHECKED MANY FORUMS, AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. MY TRUCK IS, AND HAS BEEN FOR A WHILE, OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THIS SEEMS THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECT, AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. HOWEVER, THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I HAVE HAD LOOK AT IT, DOES NOT SEE IT THAT WAY. BOUGHT THE NISSAN TITAN USED IN NOVEMBER OF 2007. I RECENTLY FOUND A WET SPOT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL (INSIDE) UNDER THE BRAKE ROTOR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TITAN. IT'S A LEAKING AXLE SEAL. THIS LEAK WAS CAUSING BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK AROUND AND POSSIBLE ONTO THE BRAKE ROTOR, CALIPERS, AND PADS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM DUE TO POSSIBLE FIRE AND OR BRAKE FAILURE. *TR
MY GIRLFRIEND OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE BRAKING SYSTEM STARTED FAILING, SO I PURCHASED NEW BRAKES AND NO CHANGE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED UNTIL I TALKED TO A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME TO TRY THE MASTER CYLINDER. PURCHASED A NEW ONE, NO CHANGE. NISSAN CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEMS BUT WHEN WE PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IT DOESN'T WANT TO STOP. WE CAN PUMP THEM A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN IT'LL START TO STOP. NISSAN WON'T EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND THE ONLY REPLY WE GET FROM THEM IS "IT NEEDS NEW BRAKES, OR THE BRAKE PADS ARE ON BACKWARDS." WE WHERE BROWSING ON THE INTERNET AND SAY AN ARTICLE WHERE THERE WAS A LEMON LAW AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM BUT NISSAN STILL CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED AND LEAKING. NISSAN DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED PROBLEM, BUT NISSAN REFUSED TO FIX PROBLEM. I STARTED BEFORE 80K MILES, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW EMISSION'S HAD 80K WARRANTY, NISSAN REFUSED TO FIX AT 84K. LOUD EXHAUST NOISE AT START-UP AND WHILE DRIVING, FUMES(CARBON MONOXIDE) LEAKING INTO CABIN WHEN IDLING IN TRAFFIC. *TR
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HAS INCORRECTLY DEFINED THE CONDITION "BRAKE JUDDER" AS STEERING WHEEL SHAKE, BODY VIBRATION OR BRAKE PEDAL PULSATION WHILE BRAKING (EMPHASIS MINE), ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MY PROBLEM MANIFESTED ITSELF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE NO BRAKING WAS BEING ACCOMPLISHED, AND WAS EXTREME AFTER THE PURCHASE OF NEW PREMIUM TIRES (TOYO OPEN COUNTRY H/T). WHILE A FIX HAS BEEN OFFERED FOR "BRAKE JUDDER" AS NISSAN DEFINES IT, I WAS TOLD AT TWO DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERS THAT IT WOULD NOT REMEDY MY PROBLEM. MY PROBLEM SURFACED BEFORE THE 36 MONTH/ UNLIMITED MILEAGE LIMITATION, BUT I DID NOT UTILIZE THE WARRANTY COVERAGE BECAUSE MY SITUATION DID NOT FIT THE DEFINITION. AN INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER MECHANIC (WHO USED TO WORK FOR NISSAN) INDICATED THAT DEFECTIVE ROTORS WERE INDEED THE PROBLEM, AND INTERNET FORUMS AND LEMON LAW WEBSITES SUPPORTED HIS CLAIM. SINCE I HAD EXCEEDED THE 36 MONTH LIMIT BY 90 DAYS, I ELECTED TO LET THE LOCAL INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER INSTALL THE NISSAN PARTS. HE WAS CORRECT! PROBLEM SOLVED (AT LEAST FOR NOW). I CALLED NISSANS CONSUMER AFFAIRS LINE TO COMPLAIN, AND TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I FELT THAT A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED BECAUSE OF THE EXTREME SAFETY IMPLICATIONS INVOLVED--AND NOT THE COMPANY COST SAVING MEASURES OF A COUPLE OF TSBS AND A FEEBLY MODIFIED BASIC AUTO WARRANTY. NISSAN IS ACUTELY AWARE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. SHE ASKED ME WHAT NISSAN NA COULD DO FOR ME? I REPLIED, "PAY FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR THAT IT COST ME TO FIX MY TRUCK, WHICH TOTAL $747.65." SHE ASKED IF I HAD THE RECEIPTS FOR THE REPAIRS AND I ANSWERED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE. WHEN I DISCLOSED THAT AND INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER HAD INSTALLED THE NISSAN PARTS (DONE BY A FORMER NISSAN TECHNICIAN), REIMBURSEMENT FOR PARTS AND LABOR WERE RESOLUTELY DENIED BECAUSE A NISSAN DEALER DIDN'T DO THE JOB (THE SAME FOLKS WHO TOLD ME I NO LONGER HAD WARRANTY COVERAGE, AND THAT THE FIX" WOULD NOT REMEDY MY PARTICULAR PROBLEM). *TR UPDATED 03/17/08
LEAKING REAR PASSENGER AXLE SEAL. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO STOP, AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THERE IS A VIBRATION FROM UNDER THE HOOD; CAN ALSO SMELL BRAKE FLUID IN THE CAB. TOOK THE TRUCK IN ONCE FOR THE VIBRATION RECALL AND THEY REPLACED THE CALIPERS, ROTORS AND PADS. THEN STARTED HAVING THE ABOVE PROBLEM AGAIN AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED REPROGRAMMED AND SOME SWITCHES ON THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACING ($550). HAVE HAD IT BACK 1 MONTH NOW AND DOING IT AGAIN. LUCKILY THIS TIME WAS CLOSE TO DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT IN AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING I NEED A NEW POWER BRAKE BOOSTER ($700). HAVE OWNED 5 OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD THIS MUCH OF A PROBLEM, AND WONDER DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED FOR THESE PROBLEMS THAT WE ARE HAVING WITH THE BRAKES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR LESS OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE AND ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED BY UTILIZING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD RESET INDEPENDENTLY AND WOULD NOT PRODUCE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AS THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP SAFE MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT SINCE IT WOULD TAKE LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM IT WAS OK FOR THE CONTACT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOW TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS ON TOP OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THE ENGINE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
MY FUEL GAUGE READS 1/4 TANK WHEN I HAVE NO GAS IN THE TANK. IT WILL GO BACK TO PARTIAL FULL WHEN I FILL UP BUT THEN IT WILL SHOW 1/4 TANK AFTER A PERIOD OF DRIVING. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON OR ACCURACY. WHY WAS THE 2004 NOT RECALLED FOR THIS WHEN EVERY YEAR AFTERWARDS WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM.? I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY WILL NOT RESPOND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAME APART AND WAS SUCKED UP IN THE INTAKE OF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
BOUGHT 2004 NISSAN TITAN WITH 36,000 MILES. BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. TRUCK WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE FROM THE REAR. DEALER SAID REAR END WAS BAD AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER DID NOT SAY WHAT EXACTLY WAS WRONG WITH IT OR WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS A HEAVIER REAR END FOR THIS TRUCK. *TR
I HAVE A NISSAN TITAN 2004 THAT I HAD FOR 3 YEARS. THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BUT THEN MY BRAKES WOULD MAKE THIS WEIRD SOUND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. I COULD NOT HIT THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY BECAUSE IT WOULD FEEL LIKE IF THEY WERE LOCK.. I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND TURN ON AGAIN ,AND THE PROBLEM WOULD FIX IT SELF. AFTER A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT IT KEPT DOING THAT , I DECIDED TO TAKE TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SENSOR LIGHT NEEDED TO BE RESTED AND THAT THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE SOLVE. A COUPLE AMONTHS LATER IT'S STARTED DRIVING IT AGAIN. IT WOULD MAYBE HAPPENS EVERY OTHER MONTH . I USED TO ALWAYS TAKE THE TRUCK TO GET MY OIL CHANGE AT THE NISSAN DEALER SHOP AND SINCE THE DOS COURTESY CHECK THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CV AXLES NEEDED SOME WORK DONE BECAUSE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM. I HAVE HEARD AND READ COUPLE OF THE SAME ISSUES THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE BACK CV AXLE SEALS AND BEARINGS. WHY WOULD I BE SPENDING MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LEAST EXPECTED. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED. I GOT 2 KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 3 AND I'M VERY CONCERN ON THEIR SAFETY. IF NISSAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS , THEY NEED TO TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY. *TR
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS RIGHT REAR AXLE LEAKING. THIS IS THE 3RD OCCURRENCE, ALL OF WHICH HAVE BEEN RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS. FIRST TIME DEALERSHIP REPLACED SEAL. SECOND TIME DEALER REPLACED ENTIRE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY. THIRD TIME, UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DEALER. *TR
I BOUGHT A NISSAN TITAN NEW IN MAY OF 2004. PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES WERE IMMEDIATE. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE BRAKES, ROTORS, ETC. A COUPLE OF TIMES DUE TO DEFECTS. THEY NOW SAY THAT THE BRAKES ARE OUT OF WARRANTY SO I AM DOING IT ON MY OWN AND OFTEN. THIS PAST WEEKEND I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. I WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER SET OF BRAKES AND ROTORS. WHILE CHANGING THEM, NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES CALIPERS WERE CRACKED AND RUSTED. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER, WAITING ON A DECISION FROM THEM TO SEE IF THEY WILL FIX THEM. TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY, AND EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED FROM NISSAN. THESE WERE SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER BEFORE, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY DID. I AM PAYING A TRUCK PAYMENT EVERY MONTH FOR A TRUCK THAT BASICALLY SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. WE NEVER KNOW IF THE BRAKES WILL WORK. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE @ 70,000 MILES... NISSAN IS SO UNDER HANDED THEY ARE STILL HOLDING THE PATENT AND WILL NOT RELEASE THE PARTS TO THE AFTERMARKET. WHEN I FIRST CALLED FOR THE REAR APPROX. 9 MONTHS AGO IT WAS $1400.00... NOW THE SAME DEALER SAYS THE PRICE HAS GONE UP TO $1700... THIS IS BEYOND HIGHWAY ROBBERY IT IS FLAT OUT A DISREGARD FOR THE CONSUMER. IT IS BECAUSE OF THIS AT EVERY CHANCE I GET I STOP AT THE BUSIEST NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND CONTINUALLY MAKE A "SCENE'. LOSS OF SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO A FAILED OR WEAKENED HOSE CLAMP. NISSAN DEALER INFORMED ME THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND A REPAIR KIT HAD BEEN DEVELOPED AS A FIX, HOWEVER NO CUSTOMER/OWNER NOTIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM WAS MADE. WHY WASN'T RECALL ISSUED? WAS 60 MILES SOUTH OF ATLANTA WHEN DISCOVERED ONLY BY CHANCE DURING A WALK AROUND AFTER GETTING GAS. WOKE UP TO SNOW COVERED ROADS AND BACKED MY NISSAN TITAN OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY IN 2WD ONCE OUT ON THE ROAD THE TRUCK HAD NO TRACTION, SO I PLACED IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND DROVE DOWN THE STREET 200 YARD TO THE STOP SIGN. MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE TRUCK. GEAR OIL FROM THE FRONT AXLE WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND THE TRUCK WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN WITH 72,000. FOUND PIECES OF SPIDER GEARS ON THE MAGNETIC DRAIN PLUG AT REAR DIFF SERVICE. NISSAN WON'T HELP PAY FOR THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THESE REAR DIFFERENTIALS ARE HAVING A HIGH FAILURE RATE. I HAVE THE OFF ROAD PKG WITH LOCKING REAR DIFF. VERY WEAK UNIT. QUOTED $3800 TO REPLACE ENTIRE REAR END BY THE DEALER.*CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE DRIVER COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY BEING HELD BY THE HWY PATROL. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN FOR BRAKE REPAIRS 7 TIMES AND WAS RELEASED TO THE CONTACT SAYING THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. PRIOR TO THE CRASH THE BRAKES HAD FAILED IN OCTOBER AND THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT HE BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS STILL SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND WAS FIRED FROM HIS POSITION. DURING PRIOR FAILURES, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAS REPORTED THE FAILURES TO NISSAN WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 83,000. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAIN THAT THE CONTACT HAS FILED. I WAS DRIVING LIKE NORMAL CAME TO A FOUR WAY STOP LIGHT AT A BUSY HIGHWAY INTERSECTION, STOPPED AND PRECEDED TO GO WHEN IT WAS MY TURN. MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL GRENADED AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY I NEW I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND I PUT MY TRUCK INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND LET MY FRONT TIRES PULL ME THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I THEN PULLED OVER TO A SAFE SPOT AND LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE. GEAR OIL ALL OVER MY TRUCK AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS FORTUNATE TO REACT QUICKLY. BUT THIS REALLY COULD HAVE BEEN BAD. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY DEALER AND IT COST ME $3500 FOR A NEW REAR END. THEY (NISSAN DEALERSHIP) REPLACED THE WHOLE AXLE ASSEMBLY. THEY TOLD ME NISSAN WOULD ONLY LET THEM REPLACE THE WHOLE THING AND NOT JUST THE GEARS. FISHY IF YOU ASK ME. A NORMAL REAR DIFFERENTIAL FIX SHOULD COST LESS THAN $1000. AT 42,000 MILES, MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN STARTED LEAKING FUEL FROM THE FUEL TANK. MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP STATES THAT IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FUEL TANK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TOPIC ONLINE IN FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2004 THROUGH 2007 NISSAN TITANS. I HAVE MADE A REQUEST THROUGH NISSAN CORP. FOR A "GOOD WILL REPAIR" AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE IN THREE DAYS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR EIGHT DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR MECHANISM FREEZES. DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE BUT WILL NOT LATCH AND CLOSE PROPERLY. THIS CAUSE THE DRIVER TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED OR TO LOCK THEMSELVES IN THE CAR, TO TRY AND DEFEAT THE LATCH MECHANISM. NISSAN DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, BUT THEY CLAIM NO MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBILITY, ALTHOUGH THEY DO HAVE A $500 FIX, FOR THIS NON-SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. *TR
