HEARD A POPING SOUND FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE STEERING WOULD JUST SPIN AND WOULDN'T TURN THE WHEELS.TOOK INTO TO MY MECHANIC WHO FOUND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL GEAR HAD STRIPPED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. BOTH GEARS WERE ROUND AND LOSS TOTAL CONTROL OF THE STEERING.
I WAS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY ENGINE STALLING WITH AROUND 97,900 MILES ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. AT THIS TIME, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE PROBLEM CODE READ AND THEY SAID I HAD FAULTY BANK 1 AND BANK 2 CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. THE DEALER SAID THE STALLING WAS DUE TO A RECALL, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS UNTIL THIS RECALL ISSUE. SINCE MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD ARE ONE PIECE, IT COST $2,827.28 TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THIS, SINCE THIS PROBLEM STEMMED FROM THEIR RECALL ISSUE.
THIS IS A 2005 NISSAN TRUCK WITH 85,000 MILES USED VERY LIGHTLY THE TRUCK STARTED TO MAKE A NOISE, BROUGHT IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT 4000.00 REPAIR NEEDED FOR COMPLETE REAR END REPLACEMENT IF NOT FIXED IT COULD CAUSE REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP IS THERE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. *TR
NISSAN TITAN 2005 37,000 MILES REAR AXEL SEAL LEAKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE REAR END WAS SHAKING EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 72,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE AXLE SEALS LEAK INTERMITTINGLY ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE, REAR AXLE. GEAR OIL LEAKS OUT AND COATS THE BACKSIDE OF THE BRAKE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AT APPROXIMATELY 20000 MILES. THE PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SEALS WERE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AT APPROXIMATELY 25000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR CAB DOOR WIRING HARNESS WAS EXPOSED AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE WIRES WERE RUBBING AND CAUSING FRICTION TO THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V459000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 93,389.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHAUSTS MANIFOLD CRACKED DUE TO DEFECTIVE MATERIAL AND CAUSED THE FUMES TO PENETRATE THE VEHICLE INTERIOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BROKE AND THE ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED AS A REBUILD KIT IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME. TOTAL REPAIR COSTS WERE $4,700. *TR
BACK IN MAY OF 2011 I WAS DRIVING MY NISSAN TITAN TRUCK DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY TWO GIRLS 6 & 7 YEAR OLD WHEN I HEARD THE TRUCK MAKING A NOISE OUT OF THE REAR .I SLOW DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD NOT KNOWING WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY HOME AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I TOOK MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN VINELAND NEW JERSEY THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK WAS THE REAR AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY STATED THAT THE REPAIR COST FOR THE WHOLE REAR WAS $3,800 IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED. THEY STATED THAT MY TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 2 MONTHS EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAD 38,836 MILES ON IT. I ASKED WHY COULDN'T THE PUMPKIN IN THE REAR BE FIXED AND NISSAN STATED THEY DO NOT JUST FIX THE PUMPKIN. THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR IN THE TRUCK COSTING ME $3,800.00. I CALLED [XXX] AND SPOKE TO [XXX]. [XXX] REP STATED THAT HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, PART (TT913A582) [XXX] POSI. [XXX] STATED TO ME THAT THEY MAKE THIS REAR FOR NISSAN. [XXX] STATED THAT NISSAN ENGINEERS, ENGINEER PART AND THEY ONLY MAKE IT FOR THEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP TO BE REPAIRED WHICH STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD COST ME $1,358.90. THE AUTO REPAIR CENTER THAT I TOOK MY NISSAN TITIAN TO, STATED THAT THERE WAS MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE REARS IN THE NISSAN TITANS STARTING FROM 2005 TO 2010. IT WAS ACTUALLY BEING REPORTED ONLINE SEARCH. AS I LOOKED ONLINE I COULD SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NISSAN TITAN REARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SO MY QUESTION TO THE GOVERNMENT SUPERVISOR PAID BY TAXPAYERS, DOES IT TAKE 30 PEOPLE TO DIE IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND BLAME IT ON NISSAN JUST LIKE YOU DID TO GM. FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SPIDER GEARS IN MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL SHEARED OFF, CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF MY REAR END. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITANS, AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL TICKING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TICKING SOUND WOULD CEASE AFTER THE ENGINE BECAME WARM. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER DID NOT STATE WHAT CAUSED THE MANIFOLD TO CRACK. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
2005 NISSAN TITAN EXT CAB SE THAT THE LEFT REAR END SEAL IS LEAKING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY IS OUT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 1500 DOLLARS OR MORE TO REPLACE THE SEAL. *TT
IN APRIL 2011 MY REAR AXLE SEALS ON MY NISSAN TITAN WERE LEAKING. I HAD THESE SEALS REPLACED WITH GENUINE NISSAN PARTS. NOT EVEN 11 MONTHS LATER, I WAS COMING HOME FROM CAMPING, AND AT APPROX 45 MPH I HEARD A LOUD POP, AND METAL ON METAL IN MY REAR WHEELS. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND FOUND A MECHANIC WITHIN .2 OF A MILE. HE TOLD ME THAT MY REAR AXLES SEALS FAILED, BLEW OUT THE BEARINGS, AND THE ONLY THING HOLDING MY WHEEL ON WAS THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO NISSAN, AND HAVE A WHOLE NEW REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY INSTALLED ($4000). THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS TO NISSAN ABOUT THESE REAR AXLES FAILING, STARTING WITH THE SEALS....THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS SEEN MANY OF THESE TRUCKS COME IN FOR NEW REAR AXLES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM NISSAN OWNERS AS WELL. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT, BUT WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IF I DIDN'T PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY, MY WHEEL MIGHT HAVE FALLEN OFF (ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC). I'M ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS DEFECT. THANK YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. AS A RESULT, THE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 WITH 75K MILES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR EVERY RECOMMENDED SERVICE AND ON 3/31/2011 I NOTICED A CLUNKING IN THE REAREND WHILE MAKING SHARP TURNS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $2700 TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. HE HAD FOUND METAL CHUNKS IN THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. I BABY MY TRUCK, I DON'T TOW AND I DON'T 4X4. I CANNOT ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THIS SHOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR. THIS IS QUITE CLEARLY A FACTORY DEFECT. I'VE OWNED, CHEVY AND DODGE PICKUPS AND NEVER ONCE HAD A REAREND PROBLEM. I CONTACTED NISSAN USA WAS AND EXPLAINED MY STORY. THE DEALERSHIP THEN TOLD ME THEY HAD SPOKEN WITH NISSAN USA AND THEY WERE LEAVING ME WITH A $1500 BILL TO PAY. I EXPRESSED MY EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THEIR DECISION. I THEN CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT NISSAN TO TELL THEM WHY THEY'D BE LOSING MY BUSINESS. SHE THEN CALLED ME BACK TO TELL ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MISUNDERSTANDING AND THAT I WAS TO COVER THE DEALERSHIP LABOR COSTS OF $353. I ACCEPTED HER OFFER. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM THAT SAME LADY'S SUPERVISOR CLAIMING THAT THE FIRST LADY MISINFORMED ME AND THAT I OWED $1500. I WAS SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED AT THE SAME TIME. I SPOKE WITH THIS "SUPERVISOR" FOR A WHILE TRYING TO REASON WITH HER, BUT IT WAS FUTILE. SHE WASN'T INTERESTED IN WHAT I WAS SAYING. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH HER SUPERVISOR, BUT SHE INSISTED SHE WAS THE TOP DECISION MAKER. SHE SAID SHE HAD NO SUPERVISOR, SO I ASKED HER IF SHE WAS THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY TO WHICH SHE REPLIED NO. BASED ON THIS INTERACTION AND LACK OF CARE FOR THE CUSTOMER. I WILL NEVER PLACE MY TRUST OR DOLLARS IN NISSAN AGAIN. I WILL ALSO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. *TR
I NOTICED A BLACK DARK GREASE ON THE INNER RIM AND AXLE HUB. I WAS TOLD BY A NEIGHBOR WITH THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR THAT THIS IS A LEAKING BEARING SEAL AND THAT THE ENTIRE AXLE HAS TO BE REPLACED. I CONSIDER THIS A HAZARD IF THE BEARING SEAL HAS LEAKED ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND SHOES. *KB

I JUST PURCHASED MY TITAN A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO. I NOTICED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE A "POP" SOUND WHEN TURNING. THIS SOUND WAS HEARD MAYBE ONCE EVERYOTHER DAY. DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY I WAS TURNING FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN THE TRUCK POPPED, THIS TIME EXTREMELY LOUD AND A SHUTTER WAS FELT. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD HIT ME. I THEN MADE THE NEXT TURN APROX.1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD TO THE GAS STATION. ONCE MORE THE TRUCK POPPED WHEN TURNING. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT TO LOOK UNDER THE REAR END TO SEE IF I COULD SPOT AND DAMAGE FROM THE AREA THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM. NOTHING WAS VISIBLE. I THEN SECURED MY SON IN THE TRUCK SO WE COULD TRY TO GO HOME. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, IM GOING TO MAKE A CIRCLE AROUND THE PARKING LOT BEFORE GETTING OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. I PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR AND HAD MADE IT ABOUT 20 FT WHEN I FELT AND HEARD THE REAR TIRES LOCK THEN RELEASE TWICE. I QUICKLY PARKED, POPPING 2 OR3 TIME WHILE TURNING TO MAKE THE PARKING SPACE. I THEN CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER WAITING 21/2HRS I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO FOLLOW UP ON THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING. I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS RECEIVE A CALL BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE DONE. APPROX.. 3HRS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAD GONE OUT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A OEM PART AND THAT THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE PURCHASED. THE INDIVIDUAL PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING NEWER. TOTAL COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR 3,700 DOLLARS PLUS TAX. THEN TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I FOUND OUT THAT THE PARTS HAD TO BE SHIPPED IN. WITH THE WEEKEND IN THE NEAR FUTURE I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD TAKE A WEEK TO GET THE PARTS AND HAVE TO TRUCK UP AND GOING. I AM CURRENTLY GETTING A SECOND OPINION. DID I MENTION THAT I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT ON THIS TRUCK?!! THOUGHT I WOULD BE SAFE BUYING A TRUCK WITH ONLY 68,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN TITAN OFF ROAD PACKAGE. I BOUGHT IT WITH 55,000 MILES ON IT. AT PURCHASE, I BOUGHT A 3RD PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY(CNA) THAT COVERS UP TO 100,000 MILES OR 3 YEARS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. MY TRUCK HIT 75,422 MILES AND I NOTICED THAT IT MADE A CLICK NOISE ONCE IN A WHILE WHEN I MADE A LEFT TURN. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BLEW. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHICH I BOUGHT IT FROM. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO DEALINGS WITH NISSAN BRAND AND I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO GET IT EVALUTED. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY CONTACTED THE 3RD PARTY WARRANTY CO. AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL NOT BE COVERED, BECAUSE I HAD NO PAPERWORK THAT THE TRUCK WAS SERVICED AT 50,000 MILES FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT THEY AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME AND IF WANTED TO GET THE TRUCK FIXED, I WOULD HAVE TO COUGH UP 4,000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR AXLE. BEING SO FEED UP WITH THEM, I DECIDED TO GIVE THIS JOB TO MY MECHANIC WHICH HE PROJECTED TO ONLY COST 2,100 DOLLARS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL NISSAN CUSTOMER, BUT NISSAN REALLY LOOKS OUT FOR THEIR BEST INTEREST AND NOT THEIR CUSTOMER. ONCE MY TRUCK IS FIXED, I WILL BE TRADING IT IN FOR A CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. *TR

I WAS MAKING A U TURN AND HEARD A POP FROM THE REAR END. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY GARAGE AND WHEN THEY REMOVED THE COVER FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL PIECES FELL OUT. IT HAD DESTROYED ITSELF. I'M GLAD I WASN'T DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT THE TIME WITH MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS IN THE CAR. THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORST. ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I STARTED HEARING A TICKING NOISE ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN PU AT START UP. COULDN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS UNTIL NISSAN SENT ME AN OWNER NOTIFICATION CARD ABOUT CRACKS IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. THEN IT DAWNED ON ME WHAT THAT TICKING NOISE WAS WHEN COLD START UP TOOK PLACE. I HAD THE VEHICLE RECENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR 2 OTHER RECALLS AND MENTIONED THIS ALONG WITH THE NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM NISSAN. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT BUT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAD 83,400 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND WARRANTY ISSUES ONLY WOULD FIX THIS UP TO 80,000 MILES. I HAVEN'T EVER HAD A EXHAUST CRACK ON ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE 1972 AND HAD SOME OF THESE VEHICLE TO UPWARD OF 250,000 MILES. I PURCHASED A USE 2005 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 IN MAY OF 2010. IN DECEMBER 2010 I WENT TO ENGAGE THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE DUE TO DRIVING UP A ROAD THAT HAD SNOW AND ICE. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOSS TRACTION ON THE ROAD. ONE TIME THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE COMPLETE SLIDE BACK DOWN THE HILL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DO A COMPLETE 180 DEGREE TURN. DAYS LATER I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC AND FOUND THE FRONT AXLE HAD BECOME DETACHED. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND TITAN THEY HAD SEEN DO THIS AND HAD HEARD THAT TITANS HAD A PROBLEM DETACHING WHEN DRIVEN IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MODE ON DRY PAVEMENT AND THE VEHICLES WOULD MAKE SHARP TURNS.
