DRIVERS DOOR IS DIFFICULT TO OPEN WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP IS BELOW 15 DEGREES, AND WHEN I GET THE DOOR OPEN AND CLOSE IT, IT WILL NOT OPEN AGAIN WHEN I CLOSE IT TRAPPING ME INSIDE. I HAVE TO CRAWL OVER THE PASSENGER SEAT TO GET OUT. I THINK THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OR IF I GOT STUCK ON TRAIN TRACKS ETC. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND EVEN HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THEIR WEBSITE. THE BULLETIN IS NTB05-118A. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THE REP STATED THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN COMPLETE REAR END FAILURE. NO WARNING JUST LOCKED UP WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
I HAVE NISSAN TITAN 4 DOOR 4X4, LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, IT SEEMS THAT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS THE DOOR LOCKS GET LAZY AND WHEN I ENGAGE THE REMOTE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK YOU CAN HEAR THEM CLICKING A BUNCH OF TIMES BUT NEVER ACTUALLY UNLOCKING DOOR SO THAT I CAN GET IN. SOMETIMES AS I AM DRIVING IF I ROLL DOWN ANY WINDOW AND BACK UP IT WILL MAKE THE LOCKING NOISES DESCRIBED. THEN WHEN I STOP VEHICLE, PUT IN PARK, KEY OUT OF IGNITION, THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK STAYS LOCKED WHILE THE OTHERS UNLOCK. MY TRUCK HAS ROUGHLY 40,000 MILES ON IT. ITS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 X AND THEY HAVE WITNESSED THE ISSUE, CLAIM THEY FIXED IT, AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER. CALL ME STRANGE, BUT IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ON THE COLDEST DAYS AND GETS BETTER WHEN WARMER. WHAT REALLY FREAKED ME OUT WAS THAT I HAD A CHILD IN THE TRUCK ONE TIME AND I COULD NOT GET THE DOORS BACK OPEN TO GET IN. BASICALLY THE DOORS WHERE STUCK SHUT AS I PANICKED PUSHED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE BUT YOU COULD HEAR THE DOOR LOCKS MECHANISM MAKING NOISE BUT JUST AS QUICK AS IT WOULD UNLOCK, IT WOULD LOCK WRITE BACK UP AGAIN. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AND THE DEALER CAN'T EVEN FIGURE IT OUT. IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH MURANS, TITAN, ALTIMAS, ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NO CURE JUST IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX. 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 25MPH WHEN MY TITAN STARTED TO STALL AND THEN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, WAS JUST ABOUT REAR-END BY DELIVERY TRUCK. I WAS STUCK ON THE STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE A TOW TRUCK WAS ABLE TO COME TOW TRUCK. I HAD MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER AND IT CAME OUT THAT I HAD RUN OUT OF GAS, MECHANIC LOOKED AT FUEL GAUGE AND IT WAS READING OF TANK BUT WOULD NOT START. ONCE COUPLE GALLONS WERE ADDED TRUCK STARTED RIGHT UP. MECHANIC STATED THAT FUEL GAUGE IS READING WRONG, MECHANIC LOOKED UP TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2005 NISSAN TITAN FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM NOT READING CORRECTLY. BUT DEALER STATED THAT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T FALL INTO THAT RECALL. MECHANIC STATED IT WOULD BE OVER $900 TO FIX. SO I HAD TO TELL THE MECHANIC NOT TO FIX IT. OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE NOT READING CORRECTLY. LAST TIME I RAN OUT OF GAS MY INFANT SON WAS IN TRUCK AND WAS JUST ABOUT SIDE SWIPED FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE AT AN INTERSECTION. 2005 NISSAN TITAN WAS DRIVING DOWN A RURAL ROAD. STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN TO RESUME DRIVING. WHEN LEFT TIRES WENT BACK ON PAVEMENT THE WHOLE TRUCK SHUDDERED AND THE REAR END (DIFFERENTIAL, SPIDER GEARS, ETC) BASICALLY BLEW UP. TRUCK WAS HALF IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. A NEW REAR END IS BEING INSTALLED WITH OEM PARTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A HOWLING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE LANES, THE REAR END LOCKED UP AND SKIDDED ABOUT ONE HUNDRED FEET BEFORE IT STOPPED, CAUSING THE REAR DRIVE AXLE TO POP OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH CONCLUDED THAT THE REAR END NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE REAR AXLE IS LEAKING ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKES CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. IT COULD CAUSE BRAKING FAILURE OR A FIRE IN THE REAR BRAKES. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET BUT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN IF SOMEONE OWNING THIS VEHICLE DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS LEAKING. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB 4X4 WITH OFF-ROAD PACKAGE, WITHIN 10,000 MILES THERE WERE LOOSE BOLTS ON THE TRANSFER CASE. AT 38,500 MILES THE LEFT FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SEAL FAILED AND LEAKED. AT 39,800 MILES THE POWER STEERING HOSE WENT BAD AND LEAKED. AT 51,000 MILES THE CIRCULAR CLIP ON THE AXLE AT FRONT LEFT DIFFERENTIAL DEFORMED CAUSING AXLE TO BEGIN TO FALL OUT OF VEHICLE!!! THANKFULLY ALL HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED PARTS, BUT WHEN IT RUNS OUT THESE WILL COME FROM OUR POCKET, AND NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE THE NEW PARTS ARE NOT JUST REPLACEMENTS OR ANY BETTER. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH OR INJURY TO US OR SOMEONE ELSE HAD THAT AXLE FELL FROM VEHICLE, AND COULD OCCUR AGAIN. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 30, 2010 WHILE DRIVING MY SON TO SCHOOL MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED-UP AND THE RACK & PINION LEAKED ALL THE OIL AND THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY DISABLED. ALSO JULY 30, 2011(MILEAGE 28830) IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE GOING ON VACATION WITH MY FAMILY TO LOS ANGELES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I HEARD SOME VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING TOTALLY DISENGAGED FROM THE RACK & PINION. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO STEER THE WHEEL AT ALL THAT WE HAD TO STOP AND GET HELP. ALSO DECEMBER 29, 2012 (MILEAGE 33323) IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE PULLING THE TRUCK OUT OF MY GARAGE, THIS TIME IT LEAKED ALL THE OIL FROM THE RACK & PINION AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY STIFF TO DRIVE. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE SOMEBODY CAN GET BADLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE IT'S REALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK. FUTURE NISSAN WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK WILL NOT HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE & ARE DENYING TO FIX MY TRUCK AGAIN BECAUSE THEY ARE SAYING IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. AT ONLY 60,755 MILES I EXPERIENCED A REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK WHICH AFFECTED MY ABILITY TO APPLY MY EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE. THE FLUID HAD LEAKED SO BAD THAT IT COVERED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ROTOR, PREVENTING IT FROM HOLDING.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAKING FOR THE SECOND TIME. BANK 1 SIDE WAS BAD BEFORE THE 80 EMISSIONS WARRANTY WAS UP, HOWEVER DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T DO IT, SO WE PURCHASED ANOTHER OEM MANIFOLD/CAT AND HAD ANOTHER SHOP REPLACE IT. NOW 2 YEARS LATER THAT SIDE HAS FAILED AND IS LEAKING AGAIN. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS FAILED ON THAT SIDE ALSO. NISSAN HAS NOT OFFERED A RECALL. EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAKING ALLOWS EXHAUST FUMES TO NOT BE VENTED CORRECTLY AND THE FUMES CAN COME INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND IT SHOULD BE NOTED I'M OUT OF THE 80 K EMISSIONS WARRANTY. THE OEM EQUIPMENT IS NOT UP TO PAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 162,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 155,000.
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. THE VEHICLE HAS 57,000 MILES. MY DRIVEWAY IS STEEP AS I LIVE IN A REMOTE LOCATION. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS HEADED TO TOWN. THE REAR END WENT OUT AND MY TITAN SLID OFF THE ROADWAY. THE MECHANIC WHO IS REPAIRING MY VEHICLE TOLD ME THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY MODEL OF VEHICLE. I CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND FOUND THERE WAS NO RECALL REGARDING THIS. REPAIR COST IS NOW OVER $2000. *TR
1. NORMAL, HIGHWAY AND LOCAL DRIVING OF VEHICLE. NO ABUSIVE VEHICLE TREATMENT. A MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO DO A TEMPORARY REPAIR TO ENABLE US TO DRIVE HOME AND WE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL GARAGE TO HAVE IT FULLY INSPECTED. 2. THE FRONT RIGHT AXLE (HALF-SHAFT) OF THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FELL OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A HIGHER SPEED IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE OR EVEN 2 WHEEL DRIVE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL COULD OCCUR RESULTING IN A CRASH. 3. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL OF THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THEY REALIZE THERE WAS A FAULTY BEARING DESIGN. THE BEARING HAS SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED BUT VEHICLES WITH THE DEFECTIVE BEARING ARE STILL IN SERVICE. THE LOCAL VEHICLE DEALER'S MECHANICS HAVE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THESE INCIDENTS AND CAN REPLACE THE BEARING AT MY EXPENSE SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY (THE VEHICLE HAS 76,00 MILES -- NO OFFROAD -- AND THE WARRANTY IS ONLY GOOD FOR 60,000). HOWEVER, THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT THAT IS KNOWN TO THE MANUFACTURER AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED A LONG TIME AGO. I AM REQUESTING THAT YOU INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AS THE MANUFACTURER SEEMS TO WANT TO IGNORE THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE CONTACT BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION BROKE IN HALF. HE WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED ON THE IGNITION, THE ENGINE BEGAN TREMBLING AND TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZE DEALER WHERE IT WAS STATIONED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BATTERY AND IPDM ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING AT 42,000 MILES. DEALER SAID THERE IS A DEFECT BUT NOT A RECALL. THEY WANT TO REPLACE WHOLE AXLE TO PREVENT SEAL LEAKING AGAIN. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
EMISSIONS PROBLEM LEADING TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE DUE TO CRACKING EXHAUST MANIFOLD OF MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. *TR
BOTH MY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE CRACKED ONE HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. THE OTHER ONE IS NOW CRACKED AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN SE CREWCAB 4X4 THIS PAST WEEKEND, I HEARD LOUD BANGING NOISES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN (AT LOW SPEED), I NOTICED THE LEFT REAR TIRE LOCKED UP COMPLETELY. THIS SAME SYMPTOM CONTINUED THROUGH THE NEXT DAY SO I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND DROPPED OFF MY TRUCK THIS MORNING (TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2010) AT THE NISAN DEALER IN MELBOURNE, FL. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $3,400 PLUS TAX. I ONLY HAVE 79,732 MILES ON THE TRUCK, DON'T USE IT TO TOW, AND DON'T OFF ROAD WITH IT. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THIS WAS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE I HAD A DODGE RAM 1500 THAT I DROVE UNTIL ABOUT 176K MILES AND IT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. THE DEALER HAD NO ANSWER ... I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS IS A RECURRING THEME FOR 2005 NISSAN TITANS. I HAVE A CALL INTO A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE SINCE I DON'T HAVE $3,400 PLUS TAX TO THROW AWAY ON A NISSAN DEFECT. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF 7/11 ONTO THE ROAD AND WAS ACCELERATING TO 50KM AN HR AND MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL STARTED TO JERK AND MAKE NOISE I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN SHERWOOD PARK ALBERTA AND THEY TOLD ME I WILL NEED A WHOLE NEW REAR DIFFERENTIAL FOR MY TRUCK IT IS A 05 NISSAN TITAN SE 4X4 I DO NOT TOW ANYTHING WITH MY TRUCK OR TAKE IT OFF ROAD I USE IT TO AND FROM WORK AND USE THE 4X4 IN THE WINTER. *TR
BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE GONE BAD DUE TO CRACKS AND THUS HAVE EXHAUST LEAKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH AND TOWING AN RV TRAILER WHEN THE SENDER UNIT SHUT OFF. THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD INACCURATELY DISPLAY FUEL LEVELS AND WOULD SHOW THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS AT LEAST ONE QUARTER FULL WHEN EMPTY. THE CONTACT INQUIRED WITH THE DEALER IN REGARDS TO NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000, (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER: STORAGE: FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. 2004-2008 TITAN; REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS. MINE IS A 05'. RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL IS COVERED WITH OIL AND THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE IS FLOODED WITH OIL ALSO. 55K MILES AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND I WAS LUCKY IT LASTED THIS LONG. DEALERSHIP WANTS $1,500+ TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT NOT JUST WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
LEAF SPRING SHACKLE BROKE AT WELD, AND REAR PASSENGER LEAF SPRING PUSHED THROUGH THE BODY OF MY PICKUP BED . IT WASN'T THAT DISTINGUISHABLE, IT SOUNDED LIKE A CLUNK IN THE REAR AND THAT WAS IT. I WILL CONTACT NISSAN AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. HOWEVER, I WILL BE PURCHASING AFTERMARKET SHACKLES TODAY FOR INSTALL. *TR
FAILED REAR END DIFFERENTIAL AT ONLY 75,000 MILES. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN A LOUD BANG CAME FROM THE REAR END. MADE IT HOME, BUT MORE POPPING AND BANGING NOISES ALONG THE WAY, ESPECIALLY TURNING UNDER ACCELERATION. DRAINED REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID AND REMOVED COVER, METAL CHUNKS AND SHAVINGS IN CASE. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE "BIG TOW" PACKAGE ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED TO TOW ANYTHING. IT HAS BEEN MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAY AND OFF ROAD VERY INFREQUENTLY AND NEVER HEAVY-DUTY OFF ROAD. IT IS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE FAILED REAR END DID NOT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOCK THE REAR AXLE AND CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE, AND IN MY OPINION IS DUE TO A FAULTY LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL. NISSAN WILL NOT ADMIT THIS, BECAUSE THE ENTIRE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. NOW THAT THE 2005 MODEL YEAR TRUCKS ARE GETTING A BIT OLDER, THESE FAILURES ARE BECOMING EXTREMELY COMMON AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL ONE FAILS ON THE FREEWAY AND SOMEBODY IS INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THE VEHICLE'S REAR AXLE LOCKS UP DUE TO AN EXPLODED SPIDER GEAR ASSEMBLY.

I TOWED A 2990 LBS TRAILER FROM MICHIGAN TO WEST VIRGINIA, THE MORNING AFTER GETTING HOME I NOTICED THE LEAKS AND POPPING IN REAR END WHEN PULLING OUT. FIRST TIME TOWING WITH THIS TRUCK. MILEAGE IS ALL HIGHWAY. COMMUTED 120 MILES PER DAY TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN ON FORUMS AND SEEN COUNTLESS OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT EVEN MAKE PARTS AVAILABLE. THEY ARE JUST REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR ENDS. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 WITH THE OFF ROAD PACKAGE. ON THE 3RD OF OCTOBER 2010 I NOTICED WHEN I TOOK A LEFT TURN AND ACCELERATED THROUGH THE TURN I HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND THE REAR OF THE TRUCK HOPPED. ON THE 4TH I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAD BROKEN TEETH AND IT IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED IN JUNE 2010. FIRST TIME FAILURE HAS OCCURRED. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY EVALUATED THE PROBLEM AND SENT A USED PART TO THE REPAIR FACILITY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND RETURNED TO ME. *TR

CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH 2005 NISSAN TITAN. CURRENT ISSUE IS FAILING REAR AXLE. I HAVE COMPLAINED NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM I.E. THEY INDICATED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF VERY MANY SUCH PROBLEMS. NOISE AND CLUNK BECAME WORSE AND I BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE VIA WEB AND THROUGH MY ORGANIZATION MEMBERSHIP (CLUB TITAN) AND DISCOVERED A LARGE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. BACK TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO FINALLY ADMITTED KNOWN ISSUES WITH AXLES. PAST WARRANTY AT THIS POINT, THEY RECOMMENDED CONTACTING NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. CALLED AND DESCRIBED ISSUES, THEY ASSIGNED FILE # AND ASKED ME TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS (WHICH I HAD TO AGAIN PAY FOR) AND INFORMATION ABOUT ANY PREVIOUS NISSAN VEHICLES OWNED. BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN THE REQUESTED INFORMATION, NISSAN CALLED BACK AND DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE CITING AGE/MILEAGE OF VEHICLE. I INDICATED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM, NOT JUST SOMETHING THAT HAS OCCURRED AFTER THE WARRANTY. THEY CALLED BACK SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND INDICATED THAT THERE IS NO RECORD ANYWHERE OF ANY COMPLAINTS ON MY PART REGARDING THE AXLE PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING RUNNING ERRANDS WHEN SUDDENLY MY TRUCK STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER LANE TO LET TRAFFIC THROUGH AND TO AVOID GETTING HIT. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME, FROM AN ERRAND. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN IRREGULARLY, THEN SHUT OFF. AT FIRST I DID NOT THINK I WAS OUR OF GAS BECAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS 1/4 TANK OF GAS. THE OUT OF TOWN DEALERSHIP MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE CLAMPS THEY USE TO HOLD THE TAIL PIPE ON JUST BEHIND THE MUFFLER, RUST OFF?? SO WHY DO THEY USE THEM??? UPON RETURNING HOME WE CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE 27 POINT INSPECTION (????) HE SKIRTED THE ISSUE THAT THE BOX FOR THE "MUFFLER, EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS" INSPECTION WAS CHECKED OFF AS "CHECKED AND OKAY" AND INFORMED US THAT IT WAS A COSTLY FIX. NOTHING WAS DONE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND NO APOLOGIES WERE MADE FOR THE OBVIOUS OVERLOOK OF A RUSTY CLAMP THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HAD IT FALLEN COMPLETELY OFF, ESPECIALLY TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND, HAD WE NOT HEARD THE CLANGING OF THE PIPE BANGING AGAINST THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. *TR

THE WEIGHT OF THE PIPE CAUSES THE EXHAUST GASES UP INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR FENDER MELTING WIRES, PLASTIC, AND POTENTIALLY ANYTHING IN THE CARGO BOX AREA (BED LINER MELTED). THE TAILPIPE WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. I HAVE FOUND MANY INTERNET FORUMS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING TO OTHER TITAN OWNERS.
