TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WHILE MAKING TURNS. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (VALLEY NISSAN OF LONGMONT, 1005 KEN PRATT BLVD, LONGMONT, CO 80501) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY DEATHS DUE TO THE MATTER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V044000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE REMEDY COMPLETED BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THE CONTACT'S SCHEDULE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. ROCKAWAY NISSAN (600 BURNSIDE AVE, INWOOD, NY) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
NISSAN VERSA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT BECOMES UNATTACHED AND DRAGS THE GROUND. *JS
I LIVE IN THE KANSAS CITY METRO, ON THE KANSAS SIDE, LESS THAN 10 MINUTES FROM THE BORDER TO MISSOURI. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL THAT APPLIES TO THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS OF NISSAN VERSAS (NHTSA RECALL 17V-637) BECAUSE THE SPRINGS HAVE INSUFFICIENT CORROSION COATING. THIS CURRENT RECALL APPLIES TO MISSOURI BUT NOT KANSAS. I DRIVE MY CAR IN MISSOURI ALL THE TIME BECAUSE OF MY PROXIMITY TO MISSOURI AND MY HUSBAND IS EMPLOYED IN MISSOURI. MY FRONT, RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKE ON MARCH 17, 2018. THE COIL SPRING BROKE WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT AT MY APARTMENT IN A LOT THAT IS RELATIVELY NEW AND FLAT, MEANING NO POT HOLES. A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AND WHEN MOVING THERE WAS A LOUD CREAKING SOUND. AFTER PULLING OUT ABOUT 3 FEET I PULLED BACK IN AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I FOUND A ROUND METAL OBJECT ON THE GROUND NEAR THE FRONT WITH RUST ON IT. IT WAS FLAT ON ONE END AND BROKEN ON THE OTHER. AFTER INSPECTING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE'S WHEEL WELL I DISCOVERED THAT THE REMAINING PART OF THE COIL SPRING HAD SLIPPED OFF THE STRUT LIP AND PART OF THE COIL WAS PRESSING HARD AGAINST THE TIRE. THE APPEARANCE OF THE COIL SPRING STILL ON THE CAR MATCHED THE ONE I HAD FOUND. A MECHANIC AND TOW TRUCK OPERATOR VERIFIED IT WAS IN FACT THE COIL SPRING THAT HAD BROKEN. THE ATTACHED IMAGES ARE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL WITH COIL SPRING VISIBLE AND OF THE COIL SPRING PART THAT BROKE OFF. *JS
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS PROCEEDING FROM A STOP SIGN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH METAL SHRAPNEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO URGENT CARE WHERE THEY WERE DIAGNOSED WITH CHEMICAL BURNS ON BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT HANDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHICH DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER OR THE LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE KENTUCKY CABINET ALERTING HER OF A RECALL ON HER VEHICLE VIN APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AFTER THE COLLISION. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BANISTER NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE, 930 N BATTLEFIELD BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, (757) 217-9022) TO BE SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V449000 (AIR BAGS). AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN HAVING THE DEALER REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE IS A RECALL ON NISSAN VERSA COIL SPRINGS. MY SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON A BUSY ROAD PRIOR TO THE RECALL. I HAD BOTH SPRINGS REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUSTING (REASON FOR RECALL). UPON RECALL... DEALER NOTIFIED ME. SAID THE SPRINGS MUST BE REPLACED AGAIN BY A NISSAN DEALER. THEY QUOTED A PRICE OF $490 TO ME SAYING THAT THE CURRENT SPRINGS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT STRIPPED BOLTS DUE TO PRIOR REPLACEMENT. NOT ONLY DO THEY NOT REIMBURSE THE ADDITIONAL $490 FOR THE REPLACEMENT... THAT MUST BE PAID UP FRONT PRIOR TO REQUESTING THE COIL SPRING REIMBURSEMENT THEY SAY THAT THE CURRENT SPRINGS ARE FINE... AND THAT THE STRIPPED BOLTS DO NOT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS.... OTHER THAN DOING THE REPLACEMENT, WHICH IS UNNECESSARY!!!! WHY ARE THEY CHARGING ME FOR A REIMBURSEMENT.... THE WAY I SEE IT, THEY ARE MAKING MONEY OFF A RECALL.... NOT EXACTLY THE WAY THIS IS MEANT TO WORK... I NEARLY WRECK MY CAR DUE TO DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND LATER HAVING A RECALL ON THAT DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT, MONEY IS REQUIRED FROM THE CONSUMER. NO.....
I GOT A RECALL NOTICE FROM YOU AND I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CALL SEVERAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND THEY STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS UNTIL SPING AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY LONER CARS TO GIVE OUT AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE MORE LOANER CARS. NOW MY AIRBAG LIGHT JUST WENT ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. ITS REALLY DANGEROUS YET, THESE DEALERSHIPS DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUS.

"TAKATA RECALL" ON OCTOBER 21, 2017 WE TOOK OUR 2009 NISSAN VERSA INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ABILENE TEXAS AFTER SCHEDULING THE RECALL REPLACEMENT OF BOTH AIRBAGS. UPON PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE SAME DAY WE WERE TOLD ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT DUE TO TAKATA GOING OUT OF BUSINESS THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAG WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND COULD TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE BECOMING AVAILABLE. I ASKED ABOUT LOANER VEHICLE AT THAT TIME AND SHE INDICATED THEIR DEALERSHIP WAS NOT PROVIDING LOANERS DUE TO LOW INVENTORY. SHE GAVE ME NISSANS 800# AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD SET-UP A RENTAL FROM ENTERPRISE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING USED BY OUR 20 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS A STUDENT AT A UNIVERSITY IN TOWN. SHE SAID HE COULDN'T OBTAIN A VEHICLE UNTIL HE WAS 21. A FEW DAY LATER I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WAS TOLD TO CALL BACK AFTER OUR SON TURNED 21. ON 1/2/18 CALLED NCA BACK, THEY TOLD ME A "REGIONAL SPECIALIST" WOULD CALL ON 1/3. AT 4:58 CST ON 1/3/18 I RECEIVED THE CALL BACK, BUT IT WAS SOMEONE CALLING ON BEHALF OF THE REG.SPCLST. ESSENTIALLY TELLING US THE ABILENE DEALERSHIP HAD NO LOANERS, AND THAT THE ENTERPRISE THE DEALERSHIP USED HAD NO VEHICLES EITHER. SHE STATED THEY SHOULD BE GETTING THE REPLACEMENT PARTS "ASAP" BUT WOULD GIVE ME NO TIMEFRAME. SO I ASKED HER IF MY SON HAD TO RISK HIS LIFE BY CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR AN UNSPECIFIED TIME PERIOD UNTIL THEN, SHE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THAT QUESTION. AS A PARENT WITH A SON WHO IS ABOUT TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE AND BEGIN HIS LIFE INDEPENDENTLY HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT THIS OUTCOME. NISSAN SAYS THEY HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG, BUT IS A YOUNG LIFE WORTH THE RISK? APPARENTLY IT IS TO NISSAN.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THERE WAS NO INFORMATION REGARDING THE DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE'S AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL SPRING. THIS MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE UNTIL THEN. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE A FREE REPAIR IS MADE AVAILABLE TO ME?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND CONNECTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, HOWEVER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT FUEL PUMP WAS AVAILABLE HOWEVER THE FUEL CONNECTOR WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
TAKATA RECALL - BOTH DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE OF MY VEHICLE HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME, THEY TOLD ME TO COME IN TO GET MY AIRBAGS REPLACED. WHEN I WENT IN, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WOULD NOT BE READY AND THAT THEY WOULD GET IN CONTACT WITH ME THAT DAY TO SET UP MY RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE I WAITED FOR THE AIRBAGS TO BE AVAILABLE. AFTER CALLING AGAIN, I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM FOR 2 WEEKS.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL, CALLED THE NUMBER, BUT WAS TOLD IT WILL BE UNTIL "SPRING" UNTIL I CAN HAVE MY CAR'S DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS FIXED. UNTIL THEN, INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE MY CAR.

IM JUST INCREASING WORRIED THAT SOMETHING WILL TRIGGER THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT DUE TO THE HUMID LEVELS IN MY CITY/STATE (HOUSTON, TEXAS) BECAUSE OF THE EXTREME WEATHER WE HAVE BEEN HAVING RECENTLY. IS THERE ANY WAY TO EXPEDITE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG FOR MY VEHICLE?
TAKATA RECALL: CALLED DEALERSHIP IN BURNS HARBOR, IN ON 12-02-2017 REGARDING NEED TO GET FIX FOR SAFET RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY SALESMAN THAT COMPANY HAS NOT RELEASED PARTS FOR FIX YET. HE SAID NOTE SAYS IT WILL BE IN SPRING 2018. I ASKED ABOUT LOANER CAR AND HE SAID DEALERSHIP IS OUT OF LOANER CARS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALTERING HER THAT THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE TOOK OUR NISSAN VERSA INTO TYNAN'S NISSAN (780 S HAVANA ST, AURORA, CO 80012) FOR THE RECALL ON THE COIL SPRINGS. AFTER THEY REPLACED THE COIL SPRINGS ON OUR LOW MILEAGE NISSAN VERSA, THE BALL JOINT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED WITHIN 10 MILES OF THEM REPLACING THE COIL SPRINGS FOR THE RECALL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT PUT MY AMANDA AND OUR CHILD IN DANGER. LUCKILY THEY ARE SAFE AND UNHARMED. JASON AT TYNAN'S NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT INITIALLY APOLOGIZED AND SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING AND GAVE US A LOANER VEHICLE, NOW 3 DAYS LATER THEY ARE TRYING CHANGING THEIR STORY AND TRYING TO MAKE US PAY FOR THE DAMAGE THEY CAUSED DURING THE RECALL REPAIR. THERE IS NO WAY THAT A PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT WOULD COINCIDENTALLY BREAK ON A LOW MILEAGE CAR IMMEDIATELY AFTER COIL SPRING REPLACEMENT UNLESS THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG TO THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE IT. TYNAN'S NISSAN IS EITHER NOT DOING THE RECALL REPAIRS PROPERLY, OR THEY PURPOSELY DAMAGED OUR CAR FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAKING OUR MONEY. EITHER WAY WE FEEL THEY SHOULD NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO DO RECALL REPAIRS IF THEY CANNOT DO THEM WITHOUT CAUSING DAMAGES.
I HAVE 2 PROBLEMS. THE FIRST IS NISSAN CLAIMS TO NOT SUPPORT RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS A SALVAGE TITLE. THE SECOND IS THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED OF A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YEARS. IN 2015 I HAD A FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING FRACTURE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS UNUSUAL AND WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND BOUGHT AN OEM REPLACEMENT COIL AND REPLACED THE BROKEN SPRING MYSELF. IN 2017 BOTH OTHER COIL SPRING FAILED AS WELL AS THE REPLACEMENT I HAD BOUGHT FROM THE DEALER IN 2015. AT THIS POINT I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THE RECALL ON THIS PART. I REPLACED THE FAILED SPRINGS WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS TO GET THE CAR BACK ON THE ROAD. I THEN SUBMITTED PAPERWORK TO NISSAN FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. I WAS JUST INFORMED BY NISSAN THAT THEY WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST BECAUSE I HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE. THEIR REMEDY WAS TO NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL A REPLACEMENT PART WAS AVAILABLE. I FINALLY GOT NOTICE TO SCHEDULE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR IN LATE SEPTEMBER. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE WERE 2 RECALLS FOR BOTH FRONT AIR BAG INFLATORS BUT THEY ONLY HAD PARTS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE. SERVICE WAS SCHEDULED FOR 10/2/2017 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE INFLATOR WAS REPLACED WITHIN A WEEK OF MY RECEIVING THE NOTICE. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD US THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AN WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 3 TO 4 MONTHS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME - WILL NISSAN GIVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE PART IS IN STOCK? APPARENTLY, LIVES ARE IN JEOPARDY AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE IN A HURRY TO REMEDIATE THE SITUATION!

THEY ATTEMPTED TO TAKE POSSESSION OF MY VEHICLE FROM SEPTEMBER UNTIL MARCH BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE AIRBAGS IN STOCK. THEY TRIED TO FORCE ME INTO SIGNING A WAIVER THAT WOULD PROHIBIT ME FROM DRIVING MY OWN VEHICLE.
