THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME OF A BROKEN MID PIPE ON THE MUFFLER. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS RELATED TO SALT ON THE ROADS. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE PERSISTENT ACROSS NISSAN VERSAS IN THE LATE 2000 MODELS (ESPECIALLY 2009). THERE IS A LOUD ROARING NOISE FROM THE MUFFLER AND A STRONG GASEOUS SMELL INSIDE WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON AND NO OTHER HEATING/COOLING FUNCTIONS ARE TURNED ON.

HEARD A THUNKING NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT OF VEHICLE WHEN TURNING HARD RIGHT OR LEFT. TOOK TO SEARS WHERE I RECENTLY BOUGHT TIRES AND HAD ALIGNED AND THEY SAID RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE, AND TO TAKE TO NEAREST NISSAN DEALER AS THEY CAN'T GET SPRING. SAW THAT 22 STATES AND OVER 200K NISSAN VERSAS WERE RECALLED ALREADY. NISSAN DEALER SAID NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. I AM PAYING FOR REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. ONLY 77K MILES ON VEHICLE. A COIL SPRING SHOULD NOT BREAK WITH THIS FEW MILES. CAR WAS ORIGINALLY REGISTERED IN IDAHO WHERE SALT WAS USED. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE WHERE IT GETS DOWN BELOW 20 DEGREES IN WINTER. I SHOULD NOT BE PAYING THIS OUT OF POCKET.

I HAD REPLACED 3 OF 4 TPMS SINCE I OWNED THE CAR AND THE SENSORS WERE CRACKED AND LEAKING AIR NOT FROM THE VALVE STEM BUT THE ACTUAL SENSOR ITSELF THE REPAIR SHOP STATED TO ME.

ON NOVEMBER 13, 2016, MY CAR WAS HIT REAL HARD ON DRIVER'S SIDE IN FRONT, AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER CAME OUT. MY DAUGHTER WAS STOPPED ON CITY STREETS AT THE START SIGN, AND AS SHE WAS CHECKING TO MOVE OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION THIS WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HILL FAST TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, HE DIDN'T COMPLETE, AND RAN RIGHT INTO MY CAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALLED MY CAR.

AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR INDICATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE NEGLIGENCE. TAKATA RECALL: THE REPLACEMENT IS NOT AVAILABLE TILL SEPTEMBER END TO EARLY OCTOBER. IN THE MEANWHILE, THERE IS NO REMEDY, OR LOANER VEHICLE, AVAILABLE.
THANKFULLY MY WIFE AND I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC INCIDENT SINCE JULY 2016 AND SO HAVE NOT BEEN SUBJECTED TO POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS AFFECTS OF THE AIRBAG DISCHARGING METAL FRAGMENTS AFTER EXCESSIVE EXPOSURE TO HIGH HUMIDITY. FOR CONTEXT, WE LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS, AND I'M RELATIVELY SURE THERE ARE FEW PLACES MORE HUMID THAN NEW ORLEANS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. AS SUCH, I WOULD CLASSIFY US AS BEING AT A HIGH RISK FOR ISSUES WITH OUR AIRBAGS. THAT BEING SAID, THE PASSENGER SIDE RECALL TOOK OVER 18 MONTHS TO BE RESOLVED, ALL THE WHILE, WE WERE TOLD TO NOT HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR THE DURATION AND WERE NOT PROVIDED AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. WE PERSEVERED THROUGHOUT, BUT NOW ARE BEING TOLD THE DRIVER AIRBAG MAY ALSO BE FAULTY. I'M NOT SURE WHAT ALTERNATE SOLUTION THEY ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE AT THIS TIME BUT WE HAVE CERTAINLY NOT BEEN PROVIDED AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD PARTS ARE ANTICIPATED IN LATE Q1 OF 2018, BUT WE CERTAINLY WON'T BE HOLDING OUR BREATH AS THE PRIOR PART ETAS FELL FURTHER AND FURTHER BACK AS WE CHECKED IN WITH THE DEALERSHIP.

BUT I HAVE REAR SPRING BROKE AGAIN . MY REAR SPRING BROKE AFTER I TRY TO DRIVE FROM PARKING LOT. I HAVE TALKED TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP CUSTOMER. BROKEN SPRING PROBLEM IS A PART OF NISSAN VERSA. IT IS DANGEROUS AND I CANT TRUST MY CAR.

THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IF THEY BELIEVE CORRODED PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED, I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR COST. I SPOKE TO [XXX] MY CASE #[XXX], SHE BEING A REPRESENTATIVE OF NISSAN ASSURED ME AS THE LETTER STATES: "THIS REPAIR IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR PARTS AND LABOR." THE DISCREPANCY FORCED ME TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT REPAID. TWO ADDITIONAL CALLS WERE PLACED TO [XXX] ON 7/11/2016 ASKING FOR COORDINATION WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO WAIT THREE WEEKS IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO ANY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE CAR IS DISABLED WITH A BROKEN COIL SPRING AND HAS BEEN TOWED WITHOUT REPAIR. A SEVEN YEAR OLD VEHICLE EXPOSED TO ILLINOIS WINTERS SHOULD HAVE CORRODED PARTS. I REVIEWED THE PART COST THROUGH NISSAN WITH MY VIN AND THE COIL SPRING COST IS ROUGHLY $5.63 OR $6.00. THE ADDITIONAL PARTS WITHIN THE FRONT SUSPENSION VARY FROM $11.51 THROUGH $354.20. THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED A HALF DAY OF LABOR IN ADDITION TO COST OF THE SUSPENSION PARTS. THE RECALL LETTER SAYS APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS FOR REPAIR AT NO COST. WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR A RECALL? THE FACT THAT THE RECALL CAME 7 YEARS AFTER THE 2009 MANUFACTURED CAR IS VERY CONCERNING. I ASK THAT THE CAR BE TOWED AT NISSAN'S COST AND REPAIRED AT NISSAN'S COST IMMEDIATELY! I IMAGINE THAT MANY OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE RUN INTO THIS ISSUE AND WONDER IF A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS NECESSARY TO PROMPT THE MANUFACTURER TO DO AS THEY STATE IN WRITING AND OVER THE PHONE. VEHICLE FAILED VIRGINIA SATE INSPECTION CITING BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT BALL JOINTS NEEDING REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 50,000 MILES AND IT SEEMS ODD THAT BOTH BALL JOINTS HAVE FAILED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. WITH NISSANS RECALL OF OTHER PARTS OF THE FRONT END THIS SEEMS LIKE ANOTHER PART FAILURE.
