I HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION IN THE 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN I HIT THE SIDE OF A PICKUP TRUCK. NEITHER THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT WITH THIS TYPE OF IMPACT THEY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE NISSAN BODY SHOP WHERE THE CAR WAS LOCATED ALSO SAID THEY WERE SHOCKED THAT WITH THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE THAT THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY.*AK
GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY READS EMPTY ALL THE TIME SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH TWO MODELS OF NISSANS. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA'S VDC AND SLIP LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. AFTER A FEW KEY CYCLES THEY TURN OFF. VEHICLE HAS ONLY HAS 2100 MILES AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 8 TIMES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT LOCATE ANY ERROR CODES. *JB
ENGINE TAPPING NOISE IN ENGINE ON COLD START AS WELL AS CHIRPING NOISE. WE NOTICED A TAPPING NOISE IN THE ENGINE ON OUR 2006 XTERRA. IT HAS 14,000 PLUS MILES. THE NOISE HAS NOW BECOME MORE PRONOUNCED EVERYDAY. IN THE MORNING WHEN WE START THE VEHICLE WE'VE HEARD THE NOISE SINCE MARCH 30, 2007. I HAVE DOCUMENTED THE VEHICLE'S PROBLEM ON VIDEO, AND EVEN SHOWED IT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. ALSO, I HAVE GONE TO NISSANHELP.COM AND FOUND SOME SOLUTION AND SYMPTOMS TO MY PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EVEN WITH VIDEO AND DOCUMENTATION PROOF THE SERVICE MANAGER AND DEALERSHIP HAVE IGNORED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER WANTS TO HEAR IT LIVE FOR HIMSELF BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. THIS MORNING THE SECOND IN COMMAND SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT I WAS NOT WELCOMED TO THE DEALERSHIP ANYMORE. I TOLD HIM I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE HERE, IT'S UNDER WARRANTY, THERE IS NO WAY I'M GOING TO DRIVE OUT OF MY WAY TO GET ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AND SURE ENOUGH THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY ISSUES WITH THE CHIRPING OF BELT OR TENSION ITEM RELATED. THE TAPPING NOISE I BELIEVE IS AS NOTED ON NISSANHELP.COM. *AK
FAILURE OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE POWER TRAIN DUE TO FAILURE OF ABS SENSOR. THIS A DEDICATED OFF ROAD VEHICLE WITH OFF ROAD PACKAGE INSTALLED BY FACTORY. THE ABS SYSTEM SHOULD NOT TRUMP THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND CAUSE IT TO NOT ENGAGE. IF I WAS FAR OFF ROAD AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM FAILED, I COULD BE SUBJECT TO SERIOUS INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS AS I WOULD HAVE TO WALK AND GET HELP IN PREVAILING WEATHER CONDITIONS. *TR
VEHICLE GETS 10 MPG, RUNS ROUGH. VEHICLE WILL HESITATE THEN TAKE OFF LIKE YOU HAVE FLOORED GAS PEDAL. SURGED .SAFTY ISSUE AS I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. DEALER SAID NOTHING WORNG. 2006 XTERRA OR 4X4. *AK
2006 NISSAN XTERRA FUEL GAUGE / SES LIGHT ARE INOP. *TR
OUR 2006 XTERRA FOR NO REASON HAS DASH BOARD LIGHTS THAT WILL COME ON AND STAY ON. THE OD, THE VDC AND THE SLIP LIGHT AND THE DEALER STATES THE COMPUTER IS NOT HAVING A HARD FAULT. SO WITH 20,000 MILES WE HAVE THE UNKNOWN LIGHT ISSUE. *JB
2006 XTERRA. BOUGHT NEW, AFTER ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP HAD FOUR PEOPLE IN IT AND REAR BOTTOM OUT. HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES. DEALERSHIP FIRST SAID IT WAS ONLY MINE , NO OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM NO ONE ELSE, THEN REPLACED SHOCKS , REAR LEAF SPRINGS. HAD THEM DRIVE OTHERS ON LOT AND ALL DID THE SAME THING. NISSAN SENT OUT A DEALER REP, ONLY TO SAY I HIT THE DIP IN THE ROAD TO FAST. THIS IS NOT ONLY A COVER UP FROM A BAD DESIGN FROM NISSAN, BUT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO AT 65 MILES AN HOUR AND YOU BOTTOM OUT YOU COULD LOOSE CONTROL. ARE YOU GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP THE SUV WHEN THE SHOCK MOUNTS BREAK AND OR THE LEAF SPRINGS BREAK, HOW ABOUT AFTER MANY TIMES OF THE IMPACT ON THE AXEL DO TO THE BUMP STOPS HITTING IT ARE THE AXLES GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS? *TR
THE REAR OF MY '06 XTERRA BOTTOMS OUT VERY EASILY. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE DAY ONE. THE DEALER SAW THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE REAR SHOCKS, BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON THE TRUCK ARE WEAK (ACCORDING TO MANY ONLINE SOURCES). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH OVER A DIP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE'S FRAME STRIKES THE AXLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO PURCHASE A LIFT SHACKLE AND NEW SHOCKS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1. UPDATED 02/01/08. *LJ
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. WHEN AN OCCUPANT IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINS ILLUMINATED AND IS NOT ACTIVATED FOR PERSONS WEIGHING 100 POUNDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO REPAIR. THE DEALER WILL INFORM THE CONTACT ON THE WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS THAT NEED TO BE ENABLED FOR THE INDICATOR TO DIM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,000.
2006 NISSAN XTERRA LUNGES FORWARD WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT INTERSECTION AND AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES THE MOTOR SEEMS TO SPEED UP AND THE CAR MOVES FORWARD A FOOT OR MORE. *JB
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA OFF-ROAD THAT WAS BOUGHT NEW IN MAY OF 2006 AND NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000 MILES. WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS A FEW TIMES THE GAS GAUGE HAS BECOME ERRATIC. AFTER A FILL UP THE GAUGE WILL DROP TO AROUND 3/4 FULL AFTER ONLY 25+ MILES BEING DRIVEN AND OTHER TIMES READS CORRECTLY AS THE GAS IS USED. I HAVE CHECKED GAS USED AGAINST ODOMETER MILEAGE AND IT SEEMS CORRECT -- SO NO LEAKS! DEALERS HAVE BEEN CALLED BUT NO IDEAS, AND IT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN IN FOR THIS COMPLAINT YET. I PLAN ON CHECKING THE OBDII PORT FOR ERROR CODES PRIOR TO TAKING TO DEALER. *JB
FOR NO APPARENT REASON ALL CONSOLE/DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE OUT. VEHICLE IS 5 MONTHS OLD. DEALER HAS HAD TROUBLE LOCATING SOURCE OF PROBLEM. *JB
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA THAT HAS A FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM. WHEN I WENT TO FILL UP MY TANK WITH GAS LAST TIME, MY GAS GAUGE WON'T GO ABOVE A 1/4 TANK AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE NISSAN XTERRA'S AND PATHFINDER. *TR
FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT ON A 2006 NISSAN XTERA.. FUEL GAUGE WILL INDICATE A LOW FUEL LEVEL, AND UPON FILLING WITH FUEL , GAUGE WILL REMAIN AT LOW LEVEL. AFTER A FEW MILES GAUGE WILL BEGIN TO MOVE UNTIL REACHING PROPER LEVEL AND THEN OPERATE CORRECTLY UNTIL NEXT REQUIRED FILL UP. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TO INDICATE PROBLEM AND SERVICE PERSON SAYS SENDING UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH XTERAS AND IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. IT SEEMS COMMON ENOUGH THAT THIS FAULTY PART IS A BAD DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA OFF ROAD EDITION. IT IS A MANUAL AND I PAID FOR THE $700 FOR THE EXTRA AIRBAGS. THEY ARE SIDE IMPACT/ROLLOVER AIR CURTAIN AIRBAGS. NISSAN ADVERTISES THIS VEHICLE AS AN OFF ROAD VEHICLE, THIS WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I GOT THIS VEHICLE, TO GO OFF ROADING IN. I HAVE 12,000 MILES ON MY XTERRA. ON SEPTEMBER 30TH I WAS HEADING UP TO THE MOUNTAINS TO GO 4 WHEELING. I WAS ON A DIRT ROAD THAT TOOK ME TO THE TRAIL HEAD OF THIS 4X4 TRAIL. ON THIS DIRT ROAD MY AIRBAGS WENT OFF. BOTH SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS WENT OFF, THANKFULLY NOT THE FRONT AIRBAGS. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR MY AIRBAGS TO GO OFF. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR IMPACT AND MY CAR WASN'T SIDEWAYS OR ROLLED OVER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALER THAT MONDAY, OCT. 2ND, 2006. THE REASON I'M FILING A COMPLAINT IS IT TOOK NISSAN 30 DAYS TO EVEN SAY THEY WOULD FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE TRIED AND STILL FAIL TO SEE HOW IT WOULD EVEN BE AN ISSUE THAT THIS WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO, NISSAN CLAIMS THE AIRBAGS WORKED PROPERLY AND THAT THEY ARE ONLY FIXING THEM OUT OF GOOD WILL. IF THESE AIRBAGS WORKED PROPERLY, THEN I FEEL NISSAN HAS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL OR FIND A WAY TO DISCONNECT THIS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS. NISSAN CLAIMS THAT THE SENSORS DETECTED A ROLLOVER. IF YOU LOOK AT MY CAR THERE IS NO DAMAGE, AND I KNOW MY CAR WASN'T SIDEWAYS OR ANYTHING THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO FLIPPING OVER, BUT I HAVE NO WAY TO PROVE IT. I WAS ON A DIRT ROAD THAT WAS ROUGH AND BUMPY, BUT THERE WAS NO OFF-CAMBER ANGLES THAT COULD HAVE MADE MY AIRBAGS GO OFF. KNOWING THAT THE AIRBAGS WORKED THE WAY THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO, ACCORDING TO NISSAN, I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY XTERRA IN FEAR THAT THEY WILL GO OFF AGAIN. I TRULY BELIEVE NISSAN HAS MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THESE AIRBAGS AND THIS IS WHY I'M FILING A COMPLAINT. MY GIRLFRIEND WAS WITH ME AND DIDN'T SUFFER ANY MAJOR INJURIES, BUT WAS BEATEN UP PRETTY BAD AND SORE FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT. *JB
2006 NISSAN XTERRA WITH FUEL GAUGE DEFECT. APPARENTLY THIS IS EXTREMELY COMMON DEFECT IN THE PART AND NEEDS TO BE COVERED BY MANUFACTURER. ERROR CODE P0463. MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANT. I GUESS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IT TO BUY A NEW FUEL PUMP/ SENSOR UNIT... *TR
I BOUGHT A 2006 XTERRA, WHEN I WAS STRAPPING A CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK I NOTICED THAT THE CENTER REAR SHOULDER HARNESS BUCKLE AND THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE CROSS OVER ONE ANOTHER WHEN PROPERLY BUCKLED. I CALLED NISSAN USA AND THEY SEEMED TO HAVE NO CONCERNS ABOUT THIS DEFECT. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER 2006 XTERRA'S AND THEY ALL SEEM TO BE MANUFACTURED THE SAME WAY. THIS COULD ULTIMATELY CAUSE AN INJURY. AT THIS TIME NO ONE TO MY KNOWLEDGE HAS BEEN INJURED BY THIS DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. *NM
THE FUEL SENSOR ON MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA FAILED. SO I CANNOT TELL HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE IN MY VEHICLE. AFTER READING SEVERAL ONLINE BLOGS THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT AFFECTS MANY NISSAN VEHICLES. HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL BECAUSE ITS NOT SAFETY RELATED. PERHAPS BEING A SINGLE MOM GETTING STRANDED ON THE ROAD BECAUSE I CANNOT TELL HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN. IT DOESN'T HURT TO FILE A COMPLAINT I ASSUME. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH DOWN A SLOPED DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DESCENDING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, BUT THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED BUT THERE WAS NO TENSION. THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PROBLEM.
PLEASE READ LETTER TO NISSAN IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING. AS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA 4WD WITH 89,000 MILES, WE ARE WRITING YOU TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING AN ISSUE WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH FOR QUITE SOME TIME. PLEASE KNOW WE ARE ALSO A CURRENT OWNER OF A NISSAN TITAN AND ARE LOYAL TO THE NISSAN BRAND. IN 2011 THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WITH ROUGHLY 50,000 MILES FAILED DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN ASSOCIATED WITH A COOLER ASSEMBLY. THIS TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT NO COST TO US BY LIBERTY NISSAN LOCATED IN HANOVER, PENNSYLVANIA. AFTER SAID TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, WE STARTED TO NOTICE A CONSTANT WHINING THAT WE THOUGHT WAS SOMEHOW ATTRIBUTED TO THE NEW TRANSMISSION. WE RETURNED TO LIBERTY NISSAN TO HAVE THEM INVESTIGATE THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE AND IT WAS THEIR DETERMINATION THAT THE NOISE WAS DUE TO WORE OUT TIMING BELT SPROCKETS. WE EXPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS ANOMALY HAD NOT EXISTED PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW TRANSMISSION AS IT WAS AND REMAINS QUITE NOTICEABLE. HOWEVER, THIS EXPLANATION SEEMED TO FALL UPON DEAF EARS. SUBSEQUENTLY LIBERTY NISSAN INFORMED US THAT IF WE WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE THE COSTS WOULD BE ROUGHLY $1,200.00 DOLLARS. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WE COULD NOT AFFORD AT THE TIME AND FURTHERMORE FELT THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT WOULD OCCUR UNDER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES. TO THIS DAY WE REMAIN SKEPTICAL OF THIS DIAGNOSIS. WE ARE NOW LEFT WITH A VEHICLE THAT LOST ITS APPEAL DUE TO THIS CONSTANT, AGGRESSIVE WHINING INSTEAD OF ONE THAT IN THE PAST DREW POSITIVE ATTENTION FROM ONLOOKERS AND PASSERSBY'S FOR ITS APPEARANCE. WE HOPE NISSAN STANDS BEHIND ITS PRODUCT AND REPAIRS ISSUE THAT OCCUR PREMATURELY AT NO COST. WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION ON THIS MATTER AND LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES OR MORE REGARDING THE AIR CONDITIONER NOT WORKING. WHEN THE A/C WAS ACTIVATED IN APRIL OF 2006, HOT AIR BLEW OUT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE A/C SYSTEM WAS NEVER CHARGED. THE DEALER CHARGED THE SYSTEM AND STATED THAT IT SHOULD WORK. ON MAY 9, 2006, AT 2,128 MILES, THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE IPDM CONTROLLER WAS NOT ALLOWING THE A/C TO REMAIN ON CYCLE AND COOL THE VEHICLE. ON JUNE 19, 2006, THE A/C WAS NOT PRODUCING ENOUGH COLD AIR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS MINOR ENGINE FAILURE. TWO SEALS WERE REPLACED FOR THE HIGH AND LOW SIDE FROM THE PREVIOUS VISIT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT PLACED BACK ON DURING THE PREVIOUS VISIT. ON JULY 17, 2007, AT 10,753 MILES, THE COMPRESSOR WAS SHORT CYCLING AND SHUTTING ON AND OFF TOO QUICKLY. THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS A HALF PINT LOW ON REFRIGERANT AND THEY REPLACED THE O-RING. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THERE IS A LEAK, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 10,760 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,577. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED REPAIR INVOICES PERTAINING TO THE DEFECT AND ALSO LEGAL DOCUMENTATION IN REFERENCE TO THE INCIDENT. POWER STEERING FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER AT LOW AND MODERATE SPEEDS. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE A FAILURE WITH THE STEERING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO GET A FRONT END ALIGNMENT BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE STEERING WAS TOO LOOSE TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000. UPDATED 12/28/11* UPDATED 02/27/12
I PURCHASED MY 2006 XTERRA ON FEB 18TH, 2006. WITHIN 2 WEEKS I NOTICED IT WAS LEAKING DURING RAIN SHOWERS WHEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND IT LEAKED ONCE AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT. I TOOK IT HOME AND IT LEAKED AGAIN SO I TOOK IT TO A NEW DEALER AND THEY CONCLUDED, WITH THE HELP OF NISSAN ENGINEERS, THAT A DESIGN FLAW IN THE XTERRA ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED ON AN UPHILL INCLINE. THE WATER ENTERS THROUGH THE AIR VENTS UNDER THE COWLING AND DROPS ONTO THE BLOWER MOTOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD. THE WATER THEN EXITS THE BLOWER MOTOR THROUGH AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND ONTO THE FRONT PASSENGER CARPET. NISSAN HAS OFFERED NO REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM. *NM
I PURCHASED MY CAR(XTERRA 2006 OFF ROAD VIN [XXX] ) FROM DARCARS OF INDIANOLA INC., ON NOVEMBER 9, 2005. ON THE SAME DAY (THE CAR HAD ONLY 10 MILES) I NOTICED THE STEERING HAD A PROBLEM. WHEN I DRIVEN OVER 60 MPH IS HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR(WIGGLES). IN DEC 2012 I HAD TO TAKE MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA TO THE GARAGE, THERE I WAS TOLD THAT MY RADIATOR HAD CRACKED IN 3 PLACES AND THAT I HAD COOLANT IN MY TRANSMISSION. I HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED SEVERAL TIME. THEN ON APRIL 10 I WAS DRIVING HOME. WHILE GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO GO (LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING ANY GAS). TOOK THE XTERRA BACK TO THE GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REBUILD OR REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO DO RECALLS AND REIMBURSE EVERYONE THAT HAS ALREADY HAD THIS PROBLEM. 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. CONSUMER COMPLAINT AGAINST MANUFACTURER REGARDING FAULTY RADIATORS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION COOLER IS INSIDE THE RADIATOR AND IT IS LEAKING, ALLOWING ANTI-FREEZE TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION AND VICE VERSA. WHEN THE ANTI-FREEZE LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, IT DESTROYED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND CONSEQUENTLY THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *JB
