I FILLED UP MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA WITH GAS LAST NIGHT AND NOW THE GAS GAUGE ONLY GOES UP TO 3/4 TANK AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL NISSAN MODELS DATING BACK SEVERAL YEARS. I PURCHASED MY NISSAN XTERRA FROM NILES IN KEY WEST FL AND HAVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL NOW. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. AT ABOUT 55K MILES THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY AT ANYTHING UNDER A 1/2 TANK OF FUEL. MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY, AND MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STAYS ON AS WELL, EVEN AFTER I'VE JUST FILLED THE TIRES TO THEIR REQUIRED PSI. ONCE I FILL MY TANK, MY FUEL GAUGE WON'T AUTOMATICALLY RETURN TO FULL, BUT WILL RISE AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING. *TR
THE REAR OF MY '06 XTERRA BOTTOMS OUT VERY EASILY. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE DAY ONE. THE DEALER SAW THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE REAR SHOCKS, BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON THE TRUCK ARE WEAK (ACCORDING TO MANY ONLINE SOURCES). MY XTERRA IS NOW 3,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
GAS SENDING UNIT IS FAILING. VEHICLE IDLES ROUGHLY, AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. GAS GAUGE TAKES FOREVER TO SHOW FULL TANK AFTER FILL UP. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER IS CHARGING $700 TO FIX IT. *TR
I DRIVE A 2005 XTERRA OFF-ROAD - IT SEEMS AS IF MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS ACTING UP - FROM WHAT I READ AT OTHER FORUMS, THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM WITH XTERRA, PATHFINDERS, FRONTIERS. I WAS WANDERING IF NISSAN WILL HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY GAS GAUGE WAS READING EMPTY, SO I WENT AND FILLED UP THE TANK AND STARTED THE CAR AND THE GAUGE WAS STILL READING EMPTY AND THEN AFTER A DAY OR SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CANE ON. I ASKED A MECHANIC WHY THE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND HE REPLIED THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. THE CAR IS A 2006 AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT 2 YEARS THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING, NOT TO MENTION THE $500.00 FEE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM! *TR
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA AND THE CLUTCH FAILED AT 23,000 MILES. I RECENTLY HAD IT REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE SINCE IT IS CONSIDERED A WEARABLE PART AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE OLD CLUTCH IS IN MY POSSESSION. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME BELIEVING THIS PART FAILED DUE TO MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR. I TRAVEL MOSTLY OVER FLAT LANDS, DO NOT DOWN SHIFT TO SLOW THE VEHICLE, DO NOT HAUL LOADS. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED.....NONETHELESS I'VE DRIVEN 2 DIFFERENT MAKES ALSO MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR A TOTAL OF 15 YEARS BEFORE THE NISSAN AND NEVER HAD A CLUTCH FAILURE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. GAS LEVEL INCORRECT. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2006. IN AUG 06, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES TO REPAIR, I STARTED THE LEMON LAW PROCESS. THEY WERE ABLE TO "FIX" IT ON THE 3RD AND FINAL REPAIR BUT NOW I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. I AM TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (HAMPTON IN FT. WALTON BEACH, FL) THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED (BETWEEN $400-$600). THEY HAVE THE PREVIOUS DOCUMENTATION FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS, THERE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
JULY 2006 I PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN XTERRA. OCTOBER 2008 AT APPROX. 58,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE TRANSMISSION "SLIPPED" AS I MADE A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY STOPPED IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC STOPPED FOR ME. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD. I INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT BUT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE PROBLEM WORSENED. ON OCTOBER 30TH I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO RICART NISSAN. AN INITIAL CHECK SHOWED A FOREIGN SUBSTANCE IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, THE SERVICE PERSON ACCUSED ME OF PUTTING OIL IN THE TRANSMISSION AND STATED THAT NISSAN WOULD SEND THE FLUID TO A LABORATORY FOR TESTING. APPROX 6 DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING NISSAN WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FREE OF CHARGE. AT 60,000 MILES OR A MONTH OR SO LATER MY VEHICLE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE NEVER REALLY RAN CORRECTLY AFTER THAT; HEAVY SHIFTING, VEHICLE WOULD NOT WARM UP WHEN STATIONARY. I MADE SEVERAL FOLLOW UP CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT EACH TIME I WAS ADVISED THAT VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, OR OVER 60,000 MILES. AT THAT POINT I JUST DEALT WITH THE ROUGH RUNNING ROUGH SHIFTING VEHICLE. MOVE AHEAD TO MAY 2014. ONCE AGAIN THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE TURNING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. AT THIS POINT I BEGAN RESEARCHING MY VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, MORE SPECIFICALLY COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING FAILURE WAS AN ON GOING PROBLEM, I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AT PICKERINGTON OHIO GOODYEAR. COOLANT WAS PRESENT IN THE TRANSMISSION. AT THAT TIME I NOTIFIED MY DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN OF MY ISSUE. NISSAN STATED THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE AGE (175,000 MILES) THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME; NISSAN REFERENCE NUMBER #[XXX]. I BELIEVE THIS IS JUST AS MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE AS A MECHANICAL ISSUE. IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS WHEN TURNING IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC AN ACCIDENT COULD TAKE PLACE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
FUEL LEVEL/SENDING UNIT FAILURE, WORKED FINE UNTIL FILL UP AND THEN WOULD NO LONGER READ THE LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE TAKE AFTER THE FILL UP WAS COMPLETE. PURCHASED $85 PART FROM NISSAN AND WITH HELP DROPPED A FULL FUEL TANK DOWN ENOUGH TO GET THE DEFECTIVE UNIT OUT AND REPLACE IT WITH NEW UNIT. NO NISSAN DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THIS AND NO THEY DID NOT HELP ME EITHER. *TR
FUEL GAUGE GIVES INCORRECT READINGS, SOMETIMES READS HIGH, SOMETIMES READS LOW, SOMETIMES GOES ALL THE WAY TO EMPTY AFTER FILLING THE TANK AND AT RANDOM TIMES. IF THIS WAS A RECALL FOR THE 1ST GENERATION XTERRA, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE 2ND GENERATION AS WELL. *TR
MY 2006 XTERRA FUEL GAUGE WON'T MOVE EVEN I FILLED UP THE TANK FROM 1/4 OF TANK. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS XTERRA IN MAY OF 2006. IN THE PAST 8 WEEKS I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY 06 NISSAN XTERRA TOWED TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE OF NOT STARTING. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF GAS. SINCE THEN, I'VE BEEN TOLD THE SECURITY MODULE HAD GONE BAD, I HAD CORROSION ON THE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUSING IT TO GO IN TO STOLEN MODE, THE FUEL PUMP HAD GONE BAD (REPLACED TWICE), AND THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE FUEL PUMP HAD A SHORT IN IT (REPLACED TWICE). THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WANT TO GIVE ME MY CAR BACK WITHOUT ACTUALLY FINDING OUT THE REAL ISSUE. THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE AND I DO NOT DO ANY TOWING OR OFF-ROAD WITH IT. PRIOR TO THESE ISSUES, MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 11K MILES AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF AN INTERSTATE FOR OVER 3 HOURS WHILE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK, AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS REPLACED. *TR
MY 2006 XTERRA FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT RISE WHEN I FILL THE TANK. AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES AFTER THE FILL UP THE NEEDLE DROPS TO EMPTY AND FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. THEN THE NEXT TIME I START MY TRUCK THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON UNTIL MY FUEL TANK IS BELOW HALF FULL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT DISPENSED FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK TO THE FULL CAPACITY LEVEL. HE OBSERVED THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
GAS GAGE IS WRONG - ALWAYS -- AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I FOUND OUT IT'S GOING TO COST ME OVER $400 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. TOO MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE IN OUR 2006 NISSAN X-TERRA HAS STOPPED WORKING AND IS CAUSING OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. IF THERE IS A FULL TANK OF GAS, THE GAUGE IS ON EMPTY AND THE LIGHT COMES ON. BEARINGS IN STEERING COLUMN BAD AS PER NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE STEERING STARTED TO STIFFEN UP WHEN I DRIVE. MOST OF THE TIME IT IS FINE AND THEN WHEN I TURN A CORNER, IT TIGHTENS UP AND WILL STAY TIGHT FOR A WHILE AND THEN WILL LOOSEN UP. *TR
I TURNED ON MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA THE OTHER DAY AND SAW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I KNEW THIS WAS CLEARLY WRONG AS I JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICED. TWO DAYS LATER I TURNED ON MY CAR AND THE GAS GAUGE QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY. IT FLUCTUATES UP AND DOWN. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEM IN MANY NISSAN'S. THIS CLEARLY IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE DEALT WITH. IT COSTS BETWEEN $300 AND $600 TO FIX AND LOYAL NISSAN OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED FOR NISSAN'S MISMANAGEMENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE FUEL INDICATOR. IT DOES NOT DROP BELOW THE 1/2 FULL MARK, INDICATING THAT I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TWICE AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. FOR A THIRD TIME, I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS, WHILE THE INDICATOR SAYS THAT I HAVE ALMOST HALF A TANK. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM GAIN AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. MY VEHICLE CAME WITH A 36K MILE WARRANTY WHICH HAS NOW EXPIRED SINCE I AM AT 38K. *TR
I NOTICED THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS CONSTANTLY STAYING ON WHEN MY ODOMETER REACHED APPROX. 28,000 MILES, BUT WAS UNSURE OF THE REASON. SO I TOOK MY 2006 XTERRA TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT PLUGGED SOMETHING INTO THE PORT UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER-SIDE DASH. THE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO BEFORE IMMEDIATELY TURNING BACK ON. THIS CONTINUED A FEW MORE TIMES UNTIL THE 36K MILE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. I DID NOT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP ANYMORE AFTER THIS. WHEN I PURCHASED NEW TIRES FROM A WELL-KNOWN TIRE CENTER, THE GENTLEMAN DOING THE WORK HANDED ME THE SENSOR IN A COUPLE OF PIECES SAYING THAT IT HAD BROKEN OFF AND HE FOUND IT INSIDE THE TIRE. THESE WERE THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN JAN 2006. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THIS WAS NOT RECOGNIZED AND THE DEALERSHIP ONLY FIXED THE SOLUTION BY DEACTIVATING THE DASH LIGHT. SO NOW IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE THE SENSOR WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $85. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH THE LABOR WOULD COST, BUT I WOULD ESTIMATE IT TO BE AN ADDITIONAL $75-$100. *TR
VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 1/4 TANK OF GAS AND I STOPPED TO FILL UP. DRIVING AWAY FROM THE PUMP, I NOTICED MY FUEL GAUGE STILL SAID UNDER 1/4, AND ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT A AUTOZONE AND CHECKED THE CODE (FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE) THE XTERRA HAD 45K MILES WHEN THIS OCCURRED. *TR
IN MY '06 NISSAN XTERRA THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS PARKED AT THE TIME THE LIGHT CAME, AND I WAS AT .25 TANK LEFT OF GAS, AFTER GOING TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP WITH GAS, I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT MY GAS GAUGE DIDN'T MOVE, AND MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYED ON. I DROVE AROUND ABOUT 5 MILES TO GET TO TUNEX THE FUEL GAUGE NEVER MOVED, AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYED ON. I TOOK IT TO TUNEX ON 5818 SO. STATE, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM OFTEN IN NEWER VEHICLES. AT THE COST OF OVER $200.00. *TR
2006 NISSAN X 47,000 MILES. FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK, SES LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AND LOW AIR PRESSURE LIGHT STAY ON TOO. *TR

RECENTLY, MY GAS GAUGE READ 1/4. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP AND AFTER I FILLED UP THE TANK, THE GAS GAUGE STILL READ 1/4 AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. IT APPROXIMATELY TOOK AN HOUR FOR THE FUEL GAUGE TO READ A FULL TANK. SINCE THEN, THE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK THE GAS GAUGE DROPS TO THE BOTTOM AND THE LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER CRANKING THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER DRIVING A SHORT WAYS THE GAUGE GRADUALLY BEGINS TO MOVE BACK UP TO THE TOP. AFTER SEVERAL DRIVING TRIPS THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT WILL TURN ITSELF OFF. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME I FILL MY TANK WHETHER THE TANK IS 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, OR EMPTY. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. WHEN CODE IS CHECKED, IT SAYS DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNIT. THE FUEL GAS DOES NOT WORK EITHER. AS I SEARCH FOR REPAIRS OR PARTS ON THE INTERNET, I DISCOVERED THIS IS A MASSIVE PROBLEM AFFECTING THOUSANDS OF NISSAN VEHICLES OVER MANY YEARS' MODELS. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING ON MY 07 NISSAN XTERRA,CAUSING MY ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AT APP. 45,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED TO ITS CAPACITY WITHIN 3 MILES THE FUEL GAGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NO FUEL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF, THE FUEL GAGE INDICATED THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL. SINCE THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED, THE CONTACT HAS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR THE CORRECT FUEL GAGE READING. THE VEHICLE IS BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE VIN IS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 41,000.
COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL UNDER NON-ABUSE CONDITIONS. *TR
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA EACH TIME MY FUEL GAUGE GETS TO 1/4 OF A TANK OF FUEL, THE METER FALLS DOWN TO EMPTY. EVEN ONCE I FILL IT UP, IT DOES NOT REGISTER THE FUEL. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS NOW STARTED COMING ON. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT RIGHT AROUND 36,000 MILES. OF COURSE THIS PROBLEM IS NOT WARRANTED AFTER 36K. MY TRUCK HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT. I WENT TO THE DEALER THIS PAST FRIDAY AND THEY WANT 330.00 TO FIX IT. THE CASHIER AT SERVICE DESK AT NISSAN ADMITTED THAT IT IS A PROBLEM FOR THE XTERRA'S AND THE PATHFINDER SUVS. SHE ALSO SAID IF I DON'T FIX IT IMMEDIATELY, IT WONT AFFECT THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY RUNNING. I DECIDED TO SEE JUST HOW TRUE THIS WAS AND I AM SURPRISED TO SEE JUST HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME STORY AT AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE COINCIDED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM IF HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

DEPENDING ON THE TEMPERATURE (70 DEGREES F OR BELOW) THE HYDRAULIC SUPPORT ARM FOR THE REAR LIFT GATE FAILS TO HOLD THE LIFT GATE IN THE OPEN POSITION RESULTING IN HEAD AND NECK BEING STRUCK BY SAID LIFT GATE. PLEASE NOTE THAT AS THE TEMP. DECREASES - THE LIFT GATE SUPPORT DECREASES. WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, WE BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR LATCH MECHANISM. THE DEVICE HAS A CHILD SAFETY LOCK (UNSURE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM). AFTER JIGGLING THE LOCK TOGGLE IN THE VEHICLE AND THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK, THE DOOR WOULD EVENTUALLY UNLOCK AND ALLOW YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS FIX WOULD REMAIN TEMPORARY AND OCCUR OFTEN. THEN THE SAME TROUBLE MOVED TO THE OPPOSITE REAR DOOR. AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE NOW FOR 8 YEARS, BOTH DOORS WOULD LOCK AT SOME POINT IN TIME, TOGETHER, OR SEPARATELY AND SOMETIMES UNLOCK AFTER VIGOROUS ATTEMPTS TO UNLOCK THE TOGGLE. NOW BOTH DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK FOR US TO OPEN THEM. THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH A LINKAGE SYSTEM THAT MAY HAVE A BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS THE LINKAGE ROD. I CHECKED THAT MYSELF ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD THAT HAS TO CRAWL OUT OF THE FRONT IN ORDER TO GET OUT. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THIS DELAY OR AN INABILITY TO MOVE ON HIS OWN, COULD BE DETRIMENTAL. I TOLD THE DEALER SEVERAL TIME ABOUT IT, BUT THEY WERE NEVER REALLY CONCERNED AND THE MECHANISM SEEMED TO WORK WELL WITH THEM, SO THEY SHRUGGED ME OFF. THE DEALER HAS TERRIBLE SERVICE. THIS IS IN REGARDS TO A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE VEHICLE HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHICH RESULTED IN THE TRUCK VEERING OFF A BRIDGE. THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS ISSUED WITH THE VEHICLE LEADING UP TO THE EVENT. THE TRUCK HAD JUST RECEIVED ITS 30,000 MILE SERVICE AND WAS IN GREAT MECHANICAL CONDITION. AFTER LEAVING OUR DRIVEWAY AND LESS THAN A MILE FROM OUR HOUSE, MY WIFE CAME TO A STOP AT A SMALL BRIDGE THEN MADE A LEFT TURN ACROSS THE BRIDE. WHILE HALFWAY ACROSS THE BRIDGE, SHE HEARD A LOUD "BANG" AND THEN THE TRUCK COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE TRUCK VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND INTO THE STONE WALL OF THE BRIDGE, BROKE THROUGH THE WALL AND LANDED IN A DITCH. THANKFULLY SHE WAS NOT TERRIBLY HURT. NOW DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE SIMPLY BROKE IN SOME DEFECTIVE MANNER, NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER OR OUR INSURANCE COMPANY IS WILLING TO RESEARCH WHAT WENT WRONG.
