BEGAN POPPING WHEN I TURNED ANY DIRECTION, HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY THE PONTIAC DEALER, SAID THE POWER STEERING NEEDED GREASED. 2 WEEKS LATER BEGAN AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK IN, THEY DECIDED THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACED. HAD THAT REPLACED, 1 MONTH LATER, SAME THING. HAD IT FIXED AGAIN. ABOUT 2 MONTHS IT HAS STARTED IT AGAIN. ALSO THE AIRCONDITIONER HAS QUIT TWICE. TRADING IT OFF TOMORROW! HAVE HAD THE CAR THREE YEARS. WAS BRAND NEW WHEN BOUGHT. *TR
MY 06 PONTAIC G6 HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I HAD THE STEERING FIXED 2 TIMES ONE OF WHICH INCLUDED REPLACING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED THE STEERING WARNING HAS BEEN COMING UP ON THE RADIO DISPLAY.MY CAR DOES HAVE LOTS OF MILES BECAUSE I DRIVE 1000 MILES A WEEK BUT, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 06 G6'S. IT WAS SO MUCH OF A PROBLEM THAT THEY CHANGED FROM THAT TYPE OF STEERING IN NEWER MODELS. THE STEERING WILL GO OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND CAUSES YOU TO LOSE CONTROL THE CAR THEN MUST BE TURNED OFF AND ON FOR THE STEERING TO BEGIN WORKING AGAIN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM IT IS DANGEROUS!! *KB
CLEAR COAT CHIPPED OFF CAR, ROTORS WARPING EVERY 3 MONTHS, BUTTONS ON RADIO DISCOLORED, SUNROOF STOPPED WORKING, POWER STEERING LOCKED UP 4 TIMES, BATTERY NEEDED REPLACED 3 TIMES, CAR HESITATES WHEN STARTING & THEN DIES, JERKING SENSATION WHEN DRIVING - I'VE TAKING INTO THE DEALERSHIP 26 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 PONTIAC G6 APRIL 21, 2007. AFTERWARDS I STARTED NOTICING A POPPING NOISE WHEN I WOULD TURN, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE SERVICED 9-2007. THEY REPLACED THE TIE ROD ADJUSTER & RESET TOE-IN, BUT AGAIN I STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. ALSO I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW LEAKING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE AC / HEATER BLOWER STAYS ON WHEN CAR IS NOT ON WHICH CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DRAIN SO I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN APRIL 11, 2008 AND THEY TOLD ME THEY REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT & BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. NOW I AM NOTICING THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR DOESN'T REGISTER WHEN SOMEONE IS IN THE FRONT SEAT W/ SEATBELT ON. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON WHEN THERE IS NO ONE IN THE SEAT. THE STARTER CONTINUES TO CRANK WHILE TRYING TO START CAR AND STICKS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, AFTER PURCHASING FUEL THE CAR GAS GAUGE DROPS DRASTICALLY ONLY AFTER GOING ABOUT A MILE OR TWO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE POWERTRAIN AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,329 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 19,000.
POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT AS A WAS TURNING A CORNER AND HAS NOT CAME BACK ON SINCE...IN REPAIR SHOP NOW WAITING ON ESTIMATE OF REPAIR COST. *TR
THE REAR BRAKE PADS WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT 30,149 MILES. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES AREN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THAT THE BACK BRAKES LASTS FOR AROUND 80,00 OR MORE MILES. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT PADS WEAR DOWN BEFORE THE BACK PADS I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR LEFT ROTOR, AND PADS ON BOTH SIDES. A FEW TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO BRAKE, IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND FELT LIKE I HAD NO BRAKES. *JB
MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN MY PONTIAC G6 GT HAS BEEN HAVING TROUBLE. THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS MY WINDOW SWITCH QUIT WORKING, WHICH WAS REPLACED, BUT AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED A MONTH AGO, MY POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER. THIS THEN PROCEEDED TO HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN I WAS GOING BETWEEN 0-40 MPH. I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE CAR, THEN IT WAS OKAY (NO "POWER STEERING LIGHT" CAME ON). THE ELECTRICAL CHIP WAS REPLACED. THIRD INCIDENT, POWER STEERING LIGHT STARTING COMING ON AND STEERING WAS HARDER TO CONTROL (BUT NOT LOCKING UP). I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE G6, AND I AM EVEN MORE CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND WHEN THE WARRANTY IS FINISHED. PONTIAC NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THESE FAILURES AND TAKE THE STEPS TO ENSURE THE CONSUMERS SAFETY. *TR
CAR WILL NOT START. IT WILL SHAKE LIKE ITS TRYING TO START BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. IT WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED. I HAD BATTERY TEST DONE ON 33342 MILES AND IT STATED RATING:525 CCA MARGINAL BATTERY RESULTS:12.77V 507 CCA BATTERY MAY FAIL TO START VEHICLE BELOW 4 F OR UNDER EXTREME HEAT CONDITIONS **CONSIDER REPLACING YOUR BATTERY BEFORE IT IS EXPOSED TO TEMPERATURE EXTREMES. THIS IS WHAT MY BATTERY TEST RESULTS. IT LEFT ME THREE TIMES!!!!! ONLY 33342 MILES... I GUESS I WILL GO TO GMC PONTIAC DEALERSHIP AND GET A FULL TEST DONE BEFORE MY WARRANTY GOES. MY BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED..... *JB
I NOTICED A 'BLOBBY'-LIKE PLASTIC SOMETHING COMING UP FROM THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE DASH, ESP. WHEN IT WAS HOT. THIS HAD ONLY BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WEEK OR SO. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER, INFORMED THAT IT WAS THE WEATHER STRIPPING COMING AWAY FROM THE DASH AND THE WINDSHIELD.*JB
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, STAYED ON, RAN ROUGH-TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (27,245 MI) & THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR BUT IT WAS BETTER TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MODULE. *JB
I WAS DRIVING MY PONTIAC G6 IT IS A 2006. THE POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT AND WE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR JUST ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IT WENT OUT WHEN I WENT TO TURN AND HAS NOT WORKED RIGHT SINCE. IT IS A USED CAR. BUT, IT SHOULD OF NOT WENT OUT THAT QUICKLY. IT IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND I AM SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE OR RIDE IN IT. *TR UPDATE (10/6/08):NOT REPAIRED YET. HE (THE MECHANIC) SAID HE HAD TO TEAR APART THE CENTER DASH TO GET TO THE COMPUTER CHIP THAT WAS IN THERE.
MR. DID EVASIVE MANUEVERS AT 65 MPH TO AVOID DEADLY COLLISION WITH FULLY LOADED SENIOR CITIZEN VAN BY A DRIVER WITH A CELL PHONE. STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE, BRAKES PEDALS WERE VERY EASILY DEPRESSED, NONE OF THE FRONT AIR-BAGS DEPLOYED AND CAR SEATS DID NOT LOCK. MR. HIT MEDIAN CONCRETE AT 60 MPH. AMBULANCE AND EMERGENCY ROOM DICTATED, "YOU ALL VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SURVIVED." 3RD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR(ESIS) COUNTER CLAIMS MR.. THAT BECAUSE MR. COLLIDED WITH MEDIAN SIDEWAYS THE AIR-BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MR. ARGUES THAT FRONT DRIVER PORTION OF CAR HIT MEDIAN FIRST, AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELTS SHOULD HAVE LOCKED. 3RD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR COUNTERS. BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROOF WE CANNOT CLAIM SUCH FACT. SHE (3RD PARTY) IS INSISTING ON US TO SIGN MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS AND SUBMIT PICTURES OF CAR. MR. HAS ADVISED THAT CAR IS REPAIRED AND HAS BEEN SOLD. CONFUSION ARISES WHEN DEALER AGREES THAT CAR HAS SENSORS AND COLLISION SHOP DID NOT INDICATE ANY SENSORS. MR. IS CONFUSED WHETHER STABILI-TRAK OR SOME OTHER SYSTEMS SHOULD BE IN PLACE TO HAVE PREVENTED THE COLLISION WITH MEDIAN AND UNDER THE TIRE SENSORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PLACE. IF ANY SYSTEM (STABILI-TRAK OR OTHER) WERE IN PLACE, THE WHOLE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH THE POWER STEERING WOULD TURN ON AND OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKING LEFT TO RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER, HOWEVER; THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO JERK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE WHEN HE STARTED THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 40-50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ON ITS OWN. AS OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,699. UPDATED 11/15/07
NEW VEHICLE! LEAKS ON LEFT PASSENGER SIDE ABOVE & AROUND SEAT BELT DURING RAIN OR WASHING. BOTH FLOOR AND SEAT BECOME SATURATED. TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS PROBLEM WITH SUNROOF'S DRAIN HOSE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY AS IF IT WERE LOOSE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT, FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD, AND THE STEERING RACK. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL AND SEVERAL OF THE PARTS FOR THE STEERING UNIT WERE ON A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,161 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,493. UPDATED 09/15/08 *BF THE TRANSMSSION WAS SHIFTING HARD. THE TIE ROD END WAS LOOSE AND WORN. CONTINUED STEERING/FRONT END PROBLEMS CAUSING POPPING, CLICKING, UNSTEADY STEERING/DRIFTING AND PREMATURE WEARING ON TIRES RESULTING IN FREQUENT REPLACEMENT. - KNOWN FACTORY/MANUFACTURER DEFECT WITH NO REPLACEMENT PARTS BY MANUFACTURER;GM ADMITS TO DEFECT WITH NO REMEDY-NO RECALL. FIRST REPORT 7-25-07 WITHOUT REMEDY. - - VEHICLE UNSAFE - - SHOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR RESALE. HAS BEEN RETURNED TO FREEDOM PONTIAC IN ODESSA TEXAS DUE TO UNSAFE CONDITION. *TR
STARTING AT APPROX. 25K MILES THE FRONT PASSENGER STRUT WAS REPLACED, 10K MILES LATER THE STRUT AND STRUT MOUNT WERE REPLACED PASSENGER AND DRIVER, ROUGHLY 10K MORE MILES AND THE ENTIRE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS REPLACED. AT 55K MILES THE STRUT IS AGAIN BAD AND NOW THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL BEARINGS ARE BAD AND WHINING VERY LOUDLY AS YOU INCREASE SPEED AND THEN DECREASE AS THE SPEED DECREASES TO A STOP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. MY DEALERSHIP HAS REMARKED SEVERAL TIMES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS CANNOT BE RESOLVED LONG-TERM. I HAVE ENTERED THE ROUGH ORIGINAL DATE OF ISSUE WHICH BEGAN THE FIRST YEAR THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR. *TR
IT ALL STARTED ABOUT 6,000 MILES THE POWER STEERING LIGHT DID APPEAR ALONG WITH A DINGING NOISE. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. DEALER SAID TO SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART AND IT WOULD RESET. CONTINUED TO HAVE SAME PROBLEM, TURNING CAR OFF AND RESETTING THE STEERING. AT 35,791 MILES DEALER (NASSIEF) REPLACED THE STEERING MODULE AND TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS OK. AT 35,855 MILES POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY RECALIBRATED STEERING AND SAID EVERYTHING'S OK. PROBLEM CONTINUED. FRIDAY 7/11/08 FRIEND (DOREEN COSTELLO) WAS DRIVING CAR AND WENT TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPACE AT WORK AND STEERING GOT VERY TIGHT, SHE THOUGHT THE CAR HAD STALLED. UPON CHECKING FOUND CAR STILL RUNNING BUT NO POWER STEERING AND POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS ON AND BINGING NOISE WARNING OF PROBLEM. FRIEND ATTEMPTED RESTART AND THE STEERING DID RESET BUT WITHIN SECONDS STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN LIGHT CAME ON AND BINGING NOISE. THIRD ATTEMPT TO START CAR AFTER A FEW SECONDS WITHOUT TOUCHING STEERING WHEEL STEERING WHEEL JERKED SLIGHTLY, STEERING WARNING LIGHT AND BINGING RESUMED. FRIEND WAS ABLE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL 360 DEGREES AROUND WITH FEELING THERE WAS NO CONTACT AT ALL AS OPPOSED TO HARD STEER USUALLY FELT. IT APPEARED THERE WAS NO STEERING AT ALL AS OPPOSED TO HARD STEERING AS WAS THE USUAL PROBLEM. I FELT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. DEALER CONTINUES TO SAY THE CAR IS FINE. UPDATE: THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT LOSE THE STEERING WHILE IN THEIR LOT THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CAR LOSES IT'S STEERING ONLY SPORADICALLY. I STILL HAVE THE CAR.
2007 PONITAC G6 STALLED ON THREE OCCASIONS. FIRST TIME THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. SECOND TIME THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED AND WIRE WAS TIGHTENED. THIRD TIME DEALER STATED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *KB THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE RELATED TO THE RADIO COMING ON BY ITSELF AND THE DRIVERS WINDOW HAVING A PROBLEM, BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE IF THAT WAS THE REAL PROBLEM. *JB
I BOUGHT A 2006 PONTIAC G6 WITH ONLY 6,000 MILES ON IT, AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING IT, I NOTICED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. IT WOULD GO COMPLETLY OUT AND IN MY INFORMATION CENTER IT WOULD SAY POWER STEERING, THEN OTHER TIMES IT WOULD GET VERY LOOSE TO WHERE I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT, CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING AND SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, MIND YOU THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. I TOLD THEM TO KEEP IT LONGER. PONTIAC CALLED BACK AND TOLD ME TO COME PICK IT UP, THAT THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE, THEREFOR COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. A WEEK LATER IT GOES OUT COMPLETLY AGAIN, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME, I ALMOST WRECKED MY CAR. I IMMEDIATLEY PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK, I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DIDN'T LIKE THERE SERVICE TO TAKE IT ELSEWHERE, SO I DID. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ELCTRONIC SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE. NOW AT 9,600 MILES THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED AGAIN. *TR
PURCHASED NEW PONTIAC G6 2006 ON JUNE 2, 2007, 72 MILES. JULY 2007, PROBLEMS WITH CRUISE CONTROL. CONTACTED RELIABLE PONTIAC WITH PROBLEM. NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. TOOK IT TO THOMPSON'S PLACERVILLE, ACTED LIKE I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO WORK A CRUISE CONTROL. CONTINUED TO HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. SPOKE WITH DAVID O'KEEF, PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE (866) 790-5600, EXT 31952, REGARDING LEMON LAW. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THOMPSONS ON THE FOLLOWING DATES (THERE WERE SEVERAL MORE, BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE AN INVOICE FROM THE DEALER): 7/11/07; 8/10/07; 10/05/07; 10/8/07; 10/20/07; 11/16/07; 12/12/07; 4/8/08; 4/23/08 5/14/08; 5/16/08; 5/31/08; 11/11/08; THROUGHOUT 2009 AND 2010; 4/28/11; 9/6/11; 9/14/11; 12/9/11; AND 12/14/11. PULLED OVER BY CHP SEVERAL TIMES FOR BRAKE LIGHTS BEING ON, BUT I WAS NOT BRAKING, OFFICER STATED VEHICLE TOO DANGEROUS TO BE ON ROAD. ON 9/6/11, A FRIEND REFERRED ME TO MOTORTREND RECALLS. RECALL DATE FOR AIR BAGS WAS 10/31/2006 AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS 1/30/2009. STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN 2009. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED BY GM OR RELIABLE PONTIAC. VEHICLE WAS A COSTLY, SAFETY HAZARD THROUGH 12/14/11. STILL HAVE ISSUES. EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT TO KEEP TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. NOW I KNOW WHY I WAS BEING FLIPPED OFF BY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD, THEY THOUGHT I WAS "BRAKE" CHECKING THEM. *JS
STEERING PROBLEMS 2007-09: VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING, KNOCKING WHEN TURNING AND LOST POWER STEERING IN JAN 09. CAR WAS AT DEALER 3 TIMES AND HOPEFULLY NOW IT IS FIXED - REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY BUT MANY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE THE WARRANTY AND ARE HAVING TO PAY THIS OUT OF POCKET. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR INJURED. FOLKS ARE LOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. ALSO JUST HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN JAN 09 - ALSO UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 FOUR DOOR CAR THAT HAS NO CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ON THE BACK DOOR AND MY SON HAS FALLEN OUT OF THE CAR FROM BEING ABLE TO UNLOCK DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS NOT ACTIVATED. I AM WRITING TO NOTIFY YOU OF SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 GT . I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM LOU SOHB PONTIAC GMC IN CONYERS, GA ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER, I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING. THERE WERE INSTANCES WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD THAT THE CAR WOULD MOMENTARILY LOSE THE POWER STEERING CAPABILITY AND THEREIN MAKES THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO TURN. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 28, 2007. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE THE VEHICLE?S STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND LOSS POWER STEERING AND IT RESULTED IN ME BEING STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND IT SEEMED AS I SIMPLY VIEWED IT AS ONE OF THOSE UNEXPLAINABLE INSTANCES. ON DECEMBER 25, 2007, CHRISTMAS DAY THE VEHICLE AGAIN HAD A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS I WAS TURNING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS AND THE STAFF LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WERE ?CRAZY? TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT IT JUST HAPPENS UNEXPLAINABLE AND THEN WORKS FINE AGAIN. THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT LEAVE ME ASSURED THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I CONTACTED A PRIVATE MECHANIC BY THE NAME OF LARRY REAVES, JR. WHO INSPECTED THE CAR ON JANUARY 12, 2008 AND AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. AT THIS POINT, THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN CHECKED BY BOTH GM CERTIFIED MECHANICS AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC AT COST TO ME. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG THAT WOULD MAKE IT MALFUNCTION AS SUCH. I HAVE NOW GROWN FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, AS I HAD A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER STEERING AGAIN THIS PAST WEEKEND ON NOVEMBER 22, 2008 WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY HEADING 75 NORTH IN ATLANTA. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TOTROUBLESHOOT THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR WAS $1200 AND UP.*AK

THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS INOPERATIVE. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE FAILED COMPONENT. SHE ALSO FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE POWER STEERING CODE DISPLAYS ON THE DASH. THE POWER STEERING OCCASIONAL DOES NOT WORK WHEN CAR IS STARTED. IT HAS TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ASSIST THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY NOTED. POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO GO BAD WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. 2006 PONTIAC G6 - I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR STEERING PROBLEMS. FIRST REPAIR WAS A REPLACEMENT OF STEERING RACK AND ELECTRIC DRIVE. UNIT FAILED 2 WEEKS LATER AND ELECTRIC MOTOR WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THREE WEEKS AFTER THAT STEERING STARTED TO MAKE A POPPING NOISE DURING RIGHT TURNS. I EXPLAINED THAT THE PADS WERE DAMAGING THE ROTORS ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I WAS FURTHER CONTACTED BY GMC. THEY SENT AN ENGINEER TO THE FLEMINGTON SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO "EDUCATE" THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON HOW TO PROPERLY CUT ROTORS. THE CAR CAME BACK TO ME WITH A VERY FAINT SIGN OF THE PULSE THAT ORIGINALLY STARTED. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND 1.5K MILES LATER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. WE HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY REPLACED, I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE, THE PASSING GEAR ON THE CAR DOES NOT KICK IN. WE HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALER A 2ND TIME ON 04/23/2007 BECAUSE WHEN WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND THE CAR DIDN'T KICK INTO THE PASSING GEAR AT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND WHEN IT DID THE CAR DROPPED DOWN TO 20 MILES AN HOUR AND JERKED AND FINALLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT WENT BACK TO A NORMAL SPEED BUT STILL WOULD ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE ON ITS OWN. TOOK IT TO THE DEAL WHO FINALLY GOT IT TO DO AS WE DESCRIBED BUT NOT HAS BAD, ON THE NEXT DAY THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO WE WERE TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US SINCE IT WASN'T FLASHING ANY CODES TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF THE POWER OF THE CAR IS DROPPING WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AND I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR FOR FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL NOT GO AND THEY WILL BE INJURED. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THE DEALER KNOWING THAT IT HAD AN ISSUE TURNED AROUND AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT CODES TELLING THEM THERE WAS A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY DROVE THE CAR AND REALIZED THAT THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT HAD A BLOCKAGE THAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS STALLING OR THE POWER WAS DROPPING. UNTIL RECENTLY I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHERE A LADY LEFT HER CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND RAN OFF AND LEFT IT IN THE MIDDLE LANES COMING OFF OF A BRIDGE A MAN SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES AND I HIT THE SIDE OF HIS BUMPER , AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND I GOT A NEW FRONT END AND A NEW RADIATOR AGAIN. STILL LEAKED FLUID. MY HUSBAND AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND THE LEAK AND BOUGHT A PART AND FIXED IT HIMSELF. PRETTY GOOD AFTER 3 RADIATORS AND ALL THE TECHS WORKING ON IT OVER THE 6 YRS, HE HAD TO FIX IT. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP RIGHT AFTER I GOT IT BECAUSE WHEN YOU WOULD TAKE OFF, IT WOULD ACT LIKE IT SKIPPED A GEAR. BUT IF I SHIFTED W/THE STANDARD SHIFT IT WOULDN'T DO IT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION TRAY AND ALL WAS FINE. TOOK IT BACK AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING, THEY STILL SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. BUT TO THIS DAY ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK IT WILL STILL SKIP WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD THE MOTOR ON THE CONVERTIBLE REPLACED RIGHT AFTER I GOT IT. THE STEREO WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE PASSENGER SIDE CHAIR ARM RELEASE, THAT ALLOWS YOU TO LET THE SEAT UP FOR SOMEONE TO GET IN THE BACK CAME OFF, THEY PUT ANOTHER ONE ON AND NO ADHESIVE IT STRIPPED OUT AGAIN. REFUSED TO FIX IT.
