I PURCHASED MY PONTIAC G6 GT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I HAD TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE HORN WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT WAS REPLACED. 6-8 WEEKS LATER, IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER HORN REPLACEMENT. THEN, THE STARTER SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS HANGING UP, LIKE IT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE AFTER THE MOTOR STARTED. SO, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SIMPLY RESET THE COMPUTER AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. 2 MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER I DISCOVERED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A MODULE WAS REPLACED REGARDING THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND CRUISE CONTROL. THE NEXT WEEK IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. 2 WEEKS AFTER THE RETURN, GUESS WHAT! IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL NOT WORKING. I GOT THE CAR BACK LAST WEEK, AND OVER THIS PAST WEEKEND, I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE WAS NOT WORKING YET AGAIN. NOT ONLY THE BRAKES/CRUISE, BUT THE STARTER STARTED HANGING AGAIN AND NOW THE DRIVERS' SIDE HEATED SEAT COMES ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF!!! MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE TUESDAY AND PONTIAC SAYS THAT THEY WILL NOT OFFER A BUY BACK BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS ARE ELECTRICAL AND NOT MECHANICAL! I GUESS I WILL JUST WAIT ON IT TO CATCH FIRE! *TR
I OWN A 2006 PONTIAC G6 AND HAVE ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING NOT FUNCTIONING WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. WHEN I PULL INTO OR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HAVE AN INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TIME TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I OFTEN 'BUMP' THE GAS PEDAL TO MAKE THE PUMP RE-ENGAGE AND SUPPLY ENOUGH PRESSURE TO ASSIST STEERING AGAIN. WITHOUT BUMPING THE PEDAL TURNING THE WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I AM NOT A LITTLE PERSON. I AM 6'1 AND WEIGH 220 POUNDS SO TURNING A STEERING WHEEL IS NOT AN ISSUE. IRONICALLY, AT LOW SPEEDS MY G6 WHEEL IS HARDER TO TURN THAN MY 1976 JEEP'S STEERING WHEEL AND IT IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR AS THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING MADE ME BUMP INTO MY WIFE'S CAR. THE DEALER JUST SAID "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR." NICE HUH? ANYWAY, I SAW THE RECALL ON THE OTHER VEHICLES AND PRAYED, UNSUCCESSFULLY, THAT MINE WAS ON THE LIST. SINCE IT WAS NOT, I FIGURED I WOULD AT LEAST LET YOU KNOW THE POWER STEERING ISSUE EXTENDS BEYOND YOUR CURRENT LIST OF RECALLED VEHICLES. FAILURE OF POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. *TR
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY YARD. A TYPICAL FLORIDA STORM QUICKLY BLEW THROUGH. LIGHTNING STRUCK NEAR-BY SETTING OFF THE HORN, WHICH WOULD NOT STOP. SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE CAR. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO THEN EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND A REPORT WAS MADE. MY DASH WAS MELTED AND THE INTERIOR IS RUINED MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DONE AN INVESTIGATION AND SAID IT WAS A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MY CHILDREN AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, WE COULD HAVE LOST OUR HOME. IT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION BETWEEN MY INSURANCE AND GMC. *JB
BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THEY COME ON WHEN THEY WANT TO AND WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED THEY DO NOT WORK AT ALL. THEIR IS A RECALL ON SOME PONTIAC G6 BUT GM SAID MY CAR IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I HAVE ALREADY PAID $190.00 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED ONE TIME AND IT IS DOING IT AGAIN. CONTACTED GM SEVERAL TIMES, THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY WILL HAVE TO TALK TO UPPER MANAGEMENT AND CALL ME BACK. I HAVE NOT HEARD A WORD FROM ANY MANAGEMENT. THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY GARAGE BECAUSE I CANT DRIVE IT. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE!!!!!!!!! *TR
MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. TRAFFIC HAD SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND DID NOT NOTICE AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE AT ABOUT 60 MPH. THIS FORCE PUSHED MY VEHICLE INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING THEIR SEAT BELT AND SHOULDER STRAP AT THE TIME. DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE STEERING WHEEL ALONG WITH THE MAIN SHAFT CAME FREE OF THE COLUMN AND WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S LAP WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT, WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE DRIVER'S LAP WITH THE SHAFT STICKING STRAIGHT UP, THE DRIVER COULD HAVE BEEN IMPALED WITH THE SHAFT THROUGH THEIR JAW AND UP THROUGH THEIR SKULL IF THE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED AT THAT TIME. I DO HAVE A DIGITAL PICTURE OF THE STEERING WHEEL PLACED LOOSELY BACK INTO THE COLUMN IF YOU NEED TO SEE IT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BRIDGE AND CAME TO A STOP. THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS, BUT MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MODERATE DAMAGE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE RIGHT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 09/12/06. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 PONTIAC G6 IN JAN 06, AT 3000 MILES THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER WITH LOW COOLANT, IT'S BEEN IN THE 2 TIMES SINCE AND IS GOING BACK FOR THE SAME REASON 10/16/06. TOTAL THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE CENTER 7 TIMES INCLUDING THIS TRIP. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME FOR COOLANT LEAK. 1 FOR AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE, 1 FOR A PINCHED BRAKE LINE, AND 1 TO REPAIR ITEMS THE SERVICE CENTER LEFT UNDONE. 7 TIMES IN THE SERVICE CENTER IN 9 MONTHS, WOW SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG HUH? I HAVE CONTACTED THE GM 800 SPOKE TO 5 DIFFERENT REPS THEY SEEM TO BE OF THE OPINON NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT.
I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR VIBRATING IN AUGUST 2006. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THIS TIME I RODE WITH THE MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WAS VIBRATING BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF BALANCE. I HAD THE CAR BALANCED AND THEN IT BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT AND CONTINUED TO VIBRATE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY SAID IT NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED. I HAD THE CAR ALIGNED. THE CARE STILL PULLED TO THE LEFT. AT THAT TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO TALK WITH A MANAGER. THEY THEN DIAGNOSED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE. THEY SAID IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING IT IN SO THEY COULD GET THE NUMBERS OFF THE TIRE FOR THEM TO ORDER A NEW TIRE. THAT WAS 2.5 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE SINCE ASKED THAT ANOTHER BRAND OF TIRE BE PUT ON THE CAR, BUT THEY WILL NOT DO THAT BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE A LETTER FROM A MECHANIC AT AN AGENCY THAT SPECIALIZES IN TIRES/WHEELS. THEY FEEL IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND HAVE ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS FIXED. *NM
I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6 THAT I AM LEASING SINCE 11/1/2005 AND SINCE AUGUST 2006 I HAVE BEEN HAVING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY AND ENGINE ON AND OFF. THEN FINALLY ON AUGUST 21, 2006 I WENT TO GO START IT AND IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WHICH STARTED LEAKING BATTERY ACID INTO THE ENGINE. ABOUT A MONTH LATER IN MID SEPTEMBER 2006, I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS AND WENT TO START MY CAR TO GO HOME AND IT WAS DEAD. I WAS AT A STORE AND HAD TO GET IT TOWED AGAIN TO A NEAREST DEALER. THERE THEY FOUND IT WAS A WIRING HARNESS CHAFE AROUND THE STARTER MOTOR AND ALSO CONCERNING THE AIR CONDITIONING LINES AND THAT CAUSED A FEW FUSES TO BLOW. AS OF TODAY NOVEMBER 28, 2006 I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH STARTING THE CAR AND THE DEALER CANT FIND WHATS WRONG. THE CAR JUST TURNED ONE YEAR AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE ISSUES. I HAD TO GO OUT AND BUY A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECASUE THIS CAR IS SO UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAS BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES IN 2 MONTHS AND I AM TIRED OF IT. *NM
SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 (IN 2006) IT HAS BEEN FAILING TO START FROM TIME TO TIME. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL (SHORTAGE) PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE CAR NOT TO START AND KILLS THE BATTERY. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACED THE FOUR(4) TIMES. THE CAR HAS TOTALLY DIED ON ME FIVE (5) DIFFERENT TIMES AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE FIRST AND SECOND TIMES IT DIED, IT WAS BETWEEN 25-40K MILES ; THEREFORE, STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE THIRD TIME IT WAS A LITTLE BEYOND 60K AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I PAID OUT OF POCKET. THE FOURTH I REPLACED THE BATTERY AGAIN. THE FIFTH AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED. LOST STEERING POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE DIC READOUT "CHECK GAS CAP," I WOULD TIGHTEN THE HAD CAP, BUT STILL THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE REPLACED THE HAD CAP THE TIMES. LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING. CAR WILL NOT GO ABOVE 40 MPH. TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK IS MISSING. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING STEERING/SUSPENSION PROBLEMS STARTING TWO MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE FIRST INCIDENT STARTED IN AUGUST OF 2006. I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE OF A RATTLE IN THE FRONT END WHEN VEHICLE WAS WARMED UP. SERVICE DEPT. REPLACED THE ENGINE STABILIZER/SNUBBER. SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY OF 2008. I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE THERE WAS A RATTLE IN THE FRONT END OVER BUMPS AND WHEN TURNING . THE SERVICE DEPT. REPLACED THE LEFT HAND STRUT UPPER MOUNT AND LUBED THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND RESET THE COLLAR ON THE RACK AND PINION. THE THIRD INCIDENT HAPPENED IN JULY OF 2008. I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE I FELT A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STEERING AND IT WORSENED WHEN I WAS STOPPING. THE SERVICE DEPT. THEN REPLACED THE RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM. MY CAR IS NOW MAKING MORE NOISES IN THE FRONT END AND I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT SERVICED ON AUGUST 8TH (14 DAYS AFTER LAST INCIDENT). THIS CAR HAS ONLY 26,000 MILES ON IT. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT END. I FEEL THEIR NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE SUSPENSION ON THESE G6'S. THEY ARE TERRIBLE AND DANGEROUS. I WENT ON A TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND AND DROVE SOME WINDY ROADS AND THOUGHT EITHER MY FRONT END WAS GOING TO SHAKE TO PIECES OR I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6 WITH A CURRENT ODOMETER READING OF 28438 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 4936 MILES AS A NEW VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 8/16/06 THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE A STRONG VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STOKES HODGES PONTIAC OF THOMSON GA THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE PERSON THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE ON 3/31/06 FOR VIBRATION PROBLEMS OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD AT TIME OF THE REPAIR OF 8/16/06 THAT A SERVICE BULLETIN 06-02-32-0007 HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE POWER STEERING GEAR. THIS WAS REPLACED ON 8/19/06. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SERVICE SHE WAS SHOWN A FILE REGARDING THE VEHICLES PREVIOUS REPAIRS PERFORMED PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE ON 3/31/06, WHICH WAS INFORMATION THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT THE PURCHASE TIME. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT SINCE THIS WAS A SAFETY PROBLEM, AND THE FACT THAT THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION AND SOLD THE VEHICLE AS NEW. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,131 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,300.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXHIBIT A VIBRATION WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. UPDATED 05/21/07*JB
LIKE A TON OF OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE WITH MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 GT AT 50-53K MILES. IT USUALLY OCCURS WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE MY GARAGE OR AFTER MAKING A FEW TURNS. POWER STEERING IS DISPLAYED ON THE COMPUTER AND ASSISTED POWER STEERING GOES COMPLETELY OUT. SIMILAR TO OTHER I WOULD SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR A 10-15 MINUTES AND IT WOULD GO AWAY. WITHIN THE LAST WEEK THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT DAILY AND NOW IS OCCASIONALLY HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TALKED TO A FEW MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS MANY TIMES ON THE 2005 AND 2006 PONTIAC G6'S BECAUSE THIS WAS PONTIAC'S FIRST ATTEMPT AT ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING VS. PUMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SUN VISORS SPORADICALLY DROPPED DOWN AND IMPAIRED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. THE VISORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES AND CONTINUE TO OBSTRUCT HIS VISIBILITY. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY HAVE YET TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,000. UPDATED 12-12-07. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT MAINTAIN ITS POSITION AND MOVES DOWN PROGRESSIVELY OVER TIME BLOCKING THE CONSUMERS LINE OF SIGHT. THE VISOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES. THE CONSUMER HAS TO HOLD THE VISOR WITH ONE HAND AND DRIVE WITH THE OTHER. UPDATED *JB
THE PAINT ON THE INTERIOR'S BUTTONS ARE CHIPPING OFF. I.E. THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK, THE BUTTONS TO RAISE/LOWER THE WINDOWS, THE RADIO BUTTONS. THE EXTERIOR PAINT JOB IS AWFUL. ANYTHING THAT RUBS AGAINST THE CAR INCLUDING MY NAIL WILL SCRATCH THE PAINT. *TR
MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THREE REPAIR ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND STILL HAVE NOT CORRECTED IT. ALSO, THE INTERLOCKING SYSTEM, WHICH IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED IN REVERSE, LETS YOU TAKE THE KEY OUT IN ANY DRIVE GEAR. *JB
LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN PONTIAC G6 GT ON START UP. IF YOU TURN IT OFF AND START AGAIN,IT COMES BACK, BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL FAIL DURING DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A PONTIAC G6 WHICH WAS INVOLVED A CRASH IN JULY 2006. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 900. THE CV JOINT FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH. THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE, AND WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AWAY, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL, HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND DROVE INTO A DITCH. GM STATED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR DUE TO THE CV BOOTS, AND THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE TIE ROD END. THE CONTACT HAS A POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS. THE POLICE REPORT WAS INCORRECT IN STATING THAT IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE CONTACT AND THE OTHER DRIVER INVOLVED IN THE CRASH DISAGREED WITH THE REPORT. THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB BEFORE GOING INTO THE DITCH. THE IMPACT WAS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THERE WERE 2 SETS OF SKID MARKS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THE CONTACT WAS AT FAULT AND CANCELLED HER POLICY ,STATING THAT SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE, AND THE PASSENGER WAS BRUISED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DUE TO THE CRASH THE CONTACT NEEDED KNEE SURGERY. *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DASHBOARD WARNING FOR STEERING ILLUMINATED AND WAS AUDIBLE. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE STEERING FAILED . THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN RESET THREE TIMES. THESE EFFORTS HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. FOR THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, THE STEERING SHAFT WILL BE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE SUNROOF GLASS BLEW OUTWARD. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT TO BE HEAT AND RECOMMENDED THE SUNROOF BE REPLACED.
MY CAR EVERY TIME I TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT MY TIRES WOULD MAKE A SQUEALING SOUND, SO MY HUSBAND THOUGHT I NEEDED MY TIRES ROTATED, I TOOK IT DOWN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND TO GET THE TIRES ROTATED BUT HE (SALES PERSON) TOLD ME THAT MY TIRES WERE FINE. WELL I WAS GOING TO WORK AT 6:00 A.M MY CAR STARTED PULLING TO THE RIGHT SO I WENT OFF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO GET MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD BUT MY TIRES LOCKED UP OR SOMETHING B/C MY CAR STARTED TO SPIN IN CIRCLES, I TRIED TO GET CONTROL OF MY CAR BUT BEFORE I KNEW I HIT A TREE. WHAT SCARED ME THE MOST WAS THAT MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOYED, I HAD FRONTAL AND SIDE DAMAGE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG OR WHAT BUT I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE GETTING ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE GAP INSURANCE. I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT IF MY SALES PERSON WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT TO ME. NOW I HAVE TO PAY 3000.00 TO PAY THE REST OF A CAR THAT IS NOT DRIVABLE BEFORE I CAN GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS COMPLAINT IS PERTAINING TO A 2006 PONTIAC G6. SINCE JULY 2006 I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE PARALLEL PARKING. THIS OCCURS APPROXIMATELY 3 TIMES A WEEK. I DO NOT EXPERIENCE THIS LOSS OF POWER STEERING ANY OTHER TIME EXCEPT WHEN PARALLEL PARKING. I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE YOU CAN ONLY PARALLEL PARK, SO THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN STUCK PARTIALLY IN SPACES AND PARTIALLY ON THE STREET, NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE MY CAR NUMEROUS TIMES. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER THAT SOLD THE CAR, AND REPORTED THAT THEY CAN LOOK TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO, HOWEVER, THE COST IS DEPENDENT UPON THE WARRANTY. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR ON 4/12/2006. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS A PROBLEM SO WHEN THE PASSENGER ROLLS DOWN THE POWER WINDOW THE DRIVER CAN NOT PUT IT BACK UP. ON 6/29/2006 I TOOK IT IN FOR THIS AND THEY PUT GREASE ON MY WINDOWS AND THEY REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SWITCH. IT WORKED FOR 2 DAYS AND THEN IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING STOPPED WORKING AS WELL, SO ON 7/8/2006 I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SWITCH AGAIN AND REPAIRED THE WIRES TO THE WARNING FOR SEAT BELT. NOW HERE WE ARE IT IS 7/17 AND IT QUIT AGAIN ON FRIDAY THE 7/14/2006 SO I CALLED AND THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE KEEPING IT INDEFINITELY AND THE LADY WHO MADE MY APPT. SAID I SHOULD CONSIDER RENTING A CAR. I ARGUED THAT FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS I SPENT ON THIS CAR I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO, SO THEY AGREED TO PAY THE RENTAL. MY CONCERN IS THIS; THINGS KEEP HAPPENING WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHAT IF IT CAUSES A FIRE OR WORSE AN ACCIDENT WITH ME AND MY 3 KIDS IN IT. *JB
THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 DOES NOT ACCURATELY REGISTER THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE ONCE THE GAUGE REACHES THE FOURTH OF A TANK MARK. THE WAS ONE INCIDENT WHEN THE VEHICLE REGISTERED EMPTY WHEN MY CAR WAS FULL OF GAS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MADE 3 ATTEMPTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. TO DATE THE VEHICLE IS STILL GIVING A FALSE READING WITH THE FUEL GAUGE WHEN IT REACHES ONE FOURTH OF A TANK. THE GAUGE MOVES SPORADICALLY FROM 1/4 TO 1/8 TO EMPTY, AND BACK TO 1/4 AND SO ON. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS VERIFIED THAT THE PONTIAC G6 HAS REPLICATED THIS PROBLEM WITH 2 OTHER VEHICLES IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BUT CLAIMS THIS IS A COMMON FEATURE FOR THE PONTIAC G6. I SPOKE TO AN ENGINEER AFFILIATED WITH THE PROTOTYPE PONTIAC G6, AND HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS. HE SUGGESTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL OR SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE. I HAVE REQUESTED A RE-PURCHASE BE DONE ON MY VEHICLE, BUT THIS HAS BEEN REFUSED. I AM BEING STONE WALLED BY TWO INDIVIDUALS, AND ALL I REQUESTED IS THAT A PONTIAC ENGINEER BE CONTACTED TO VERIFY WHETHER THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *JB

PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REMEDIED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED FREQUENTLY AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT PRIOR TO THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
RENTED THIS G6 2006 FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CO. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR WHILE HERS WAS IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS. SHE WAS DRIVING ON A WINDING ROAD AND THE STEERING WENT OUT. SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR WHILE TRYING TO TURN THROUGH A CURVE. THE CAR FLIPPED INTO THE AIR AND ROLLED 3 TIMES BEFORE LANDING IN A DITCH. AS A RESULT SHE HAD 2 COLLAPSED LUNGS 20 BROKEN RIBS, BOTH SCAPULES WERE SHATTERED AND BROKE COLLAR BONE FROM THE SEAT BELT AND A SNAPPED RIGHT ARM. DUE TO THE LACK OF INFORMATION ON THE SO CALLED BLACK BOX THE CAUSE WAS BLAMED ON MY WIFE'S DRIVING. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED, AS I ALMOST LOST MY WIFE. *TR UPDATE: THE CAR WAS GETTING FASTER GOING DOWNHILL. SHE TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AS HARD AS SHE COULD BUT COULDN'T. THE CAR IS BEING HELD. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ACTING UP THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CRASH.

POPPING NOISE IN STEERING WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN JUNE OF 2006. DEALER REPAIRED BY LUBRICATING THE STEERING SHAFT. RETURNED TO DEALER IN AUGUST OF 06 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM - DEALER STATED SERVICE BULLETIN WAS OUT AND REPAIRED STEERING NOISE AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALER IN NOV 2006 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THIS TIME THE DEALER REPLACED ANOTHER PART IN THE STEERING SHAFT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 7 MONTHS AND THE SAME NOISE RETURNED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER IN AUGUST 07 MADE ANOTHER REPAIR/REPLACEMENT TO THE CAR. I WAS . I WILL MONITOR TO SEE HOW LONG THIS FIX LASTS. I WAS ASSURED THE PROBLEM WAS TAKE CARE OF. I DROVE THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS AND THE NOISE RETURNED, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 10/10/07, THIS TIME THEY LUBRICATED THE SHAFT AGAIN. 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN JUST OVER A YEAR IS UNACCEPTABLE - PONTIAC NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR CONTINUALLY HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. AFTER THE REMOVAL OF FOAM INSULATION BLOCK FROM THE CONSOLE, FLAMES WERE VISIBLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE EMERGENCY OPERATOR INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO THE TURN OFF THE IGNITION. WHILE DOING AS INSTRUCTED, THE FLAMES TOUCHED THE CONTACT'S ARM RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. MEANWHILE THE FLAMES ENGULFED THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS DEEMED A COMPLETE LOSS, THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE. POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. AFTERWARDS, THE FIRE INSPECTOR DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE.

AS I STARTED TO TURN RIGHT THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. THANKFULLY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND DID NOT HAVE MY 6 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE CAR BECAUSE IF I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE SIDE THAT SHE SITS ON. AFTER LOOKING INTO FIXING THE ISSUE AND SEEING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY SAME ISSUE WITH THE PONTIAC G6 AND LEARNING THAT GM HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT...I AM WONDERING HOW MUCH MONEY THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY WHEN SOMEONE SUES THEM BECAUSE OF A FATAL ACCIDENT THAT WAS CAUSED BY A KNOWN ISSUE. PULLED OFF ROAD, SMOKE FROM GRILLE, OPENED HOOD TO FIND FIRE BETWEEN FIRE WALL AND ENGINE. DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING, I PRESUME POWER STEERING CONNECTION BROKE OR HOSE SPLIT SENDING FLUID ON HOT ENGINE CAUSING FIRE. FIRE WAS PUT OUT BEFORE IT GOT BIG BY PASSERBY'S SODA. CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE (ENGINE HAD COOLED - FIRE OUT), BUT HAD RENTAL COMPANY PICK IT UP JUST IN CASE THE FLUID HAD NOT EVAPORATED/BURNED OFF. *NM
WHEN DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON, DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER WILL SHOW MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND CAR WILL SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY AND NOT GO OVER 45 MPH. ADDITIONALLY CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK. IF TURNED OFF REMOTE START WILL NOT WORK AND VEHICLE RESTARTS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND RUNS ROUGH. USUALLY NEXT RESTART CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BE OFF AND WILL RUN BETTER. VEHICLE WILL HAVE BURNT SMELL WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE AFTER INCIDENT. COMPUTER IS STORING ERROR CODES BUT DEALER CAN NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. DEALER INDICATES "SOFTWARE ERROR" PREVENTS THEM FROM GETTING INFORMATION ABOUT VEHICLE AT TIME WHEN ERROR CODES WERE RECORDED. IN SHOP 3 TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT, WANTED ME TO USE A DATA RECORDER BUT WHEN THEY TRIED TO SHOW ME HOW TO WORK IT THE RECORDED DID NOT WORK. FOG LIGHT AND SEAT HEATER SWITCH GET HOT WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON. I MEASURED THE TEMPERATURE OF THE FOG LIGHT SWITCH TO BE 117 DEGREES WHEN THE REST OF THE VEHICLE INTERIOR WAS AT 59 DEGREES. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A FIRE HAZARD BUT THE DEALER SAYS IT IS NORMAL. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THE BEARING & HUB ASSEMBLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE 2006 PONTIAC GC FAILED AT 14, 295 MILES. AFTER HEARING A LOUD, ROARING NOISE THE DEALER REPLACED THE BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. AT 32,485 BOTH ROTOR ASSEMBLIES HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ROARING NOISE AGAIN AT 43, 010 MILES AND BOTH FRONT STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT 43, 022 MILES, THE CONTACT HEARD A ROARING NOISE AND THE DEALER STATED THE HUB FAILED AND REPLACED THE FRONT HUB & BEARINGS. ON 1/16/07, THE CONTACT STATED THE HUB ON THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000. THE CONTACT STATED HE CONTINUES TO HEAR LOUD ROARING NOISES ON THE VEHICLE. *AK
GRINDING NOISE WHEN CHANGING GEARS ON 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. CLICKING OR POPPING NOISES FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF OF GAS. TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY POOR FEEL GENERALLY AND GENERALLY FEELS DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. GRINDING IS MORE APPARENT WITH LOW SPEED SHIFTS OR WHEN TURNING. THE SECOND COMPLAINT IS THAT THE FOG LIGHT BUTTON AND THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH GET NOTICEABLY HOT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE LIGHTS ON. THE THIRD COMPLAINT IS THAT THE DASH LIGHTS DO NOT GO ON WHEN YOU PUT THE LIGHTS ON MANUALLY DURING THE DAY. *NM
I'M FINANCING 2006 PONTIAC G6, BEEN HAVING POWER STEERING PROBLEMS SINCE APRIL 2008, VIBRATION OVER 55MPH, LOOSE STEERING WHILE ON HWY, STEERING COLUMN AND SHAFT REPLACED IN APRIL 2008 AND STILL HAVING SAME MSG ALERT OF POWER STEERING. GM NEED TO RECALL BEFORE A FATAL ACCIDENT AND A FAMILY LIKE MINE START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. *TR
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, WOULD NOT START, WOULD NOT STEER TO SAFETY. EXTENSIVE SMOKING, BURNT SMELL. VEHICLE WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY WHICH CAUSED A FUSE TO BLOW. INSULATION TO THE A/C DESTROYED AND STARTER BLEW. NEW WIRES ROUTED CORRECTLY, NEW FUSE AND NEW STARTER. PLEASE NOTE I WAS ON A SIDE STREET WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IF BY CHANCE I WAS ON A BUSY STREET, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC, MY G6 WAS THE SECOND IN TWO DAYS WITH THE INCORRECT WIRING. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2006 PONTIAC G6 IN SEPT 05, IN DEC 05 I WENT TO GO TO WORK ON A MONDAY AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I HAD NOT USED THE CAR THE DAY BEFORE. MY SON JUMPSTARTED IT AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE BATTERY COULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE AND THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY. IN FEB 06, THE CAR BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN, I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND TOLD ME THAT I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR ENOUGH TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. I DRIVE MY CAR BETWEEN 17 TO 20 MILES A DAY. THEY RECHARGED THE BATTERY AND TWO WEEKS LATER IT WAS DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER TALKED WITH GM TECH SUPPORT WHO ALSO AGREED WITH THE DEALER THAT I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR ENOUGH. THEY ALSO CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE PARASITIC DRAW AND THEY ALL ARE FINE. ONCE AGAIN THEY RECHARGED MY BATTERY. ONE MONTH LATER IN MARCH THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCEDURE AS BEFORE AND TOLD ME THAT GM TECH SUPPORT SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND NO FURTHER TESTS WILL BE DONE. THEY AGREED TO LET ME COME IN AND HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. APPROX TWO WEEKS LATER THE BATTERY WAS TESTED AND IT WAS FAILING SO THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY AGAIN. I CONTINUED TO HAVE MY BATTERY TESTED UNTIL THE END OF APRIL. I DIDN'T HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL JULY 06 WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. I HAD IT JUMPSTARTED AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AGAIN AND FOUND NOTHING. ALL WAS WELL UNTIL NOV 06 WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN THEY RECHARGED THE BATTERY AND CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DEALER ONLY KEEPS THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND HAS NOT TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE CAR STARTS NORMALLY WITH NO PROBLEM AND THEN THE NEXT DAY THE BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DEAD. *NM
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. WHEN TEMPERATURE IS COLD, BELOW 30 DEGREES F, STABILITRAK DOES NOT WORK AND MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED IN MESSAGE CENTER. WHEN TEMP IS ABOVE 30, STABILITRAK WORKS FINE. WITHOUT TRACTION SYSTEM, VEHICLE SLIDES OVER THE ROAD, LOSING TRACTION VERY EASILY. *NM
