DROPPED MY CAR OFF FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY LATER CALLED TO SAY THE ENGINE HAD CAUGHT FIRE WHEN THEY WERE TEST DRIVING THE CAR. AN INSPECTOR FROM THE INSURORS SERVICE BUREAU DETERMINED THAT A "RODENT INFESTATION" WAS THE CAUSE AND THAT A NEST HAD BEEN BUILT IN THE EXHAUST HEADER. I HAVE SINCE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS REPORTING FIRES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND BELIEVE THERE MIGHT BE A DESIGN DEFECT THAT ALLOWS ANIMALS ACCESS TO AN INTERNAL LOCATION WHERE ENGINE HEAT IGNITES THEIR NESTING MATERIAL.
MY PONTIAC G-6 HAS STEERING PROBLEMS. IT STARTED OUT MAKING THIS POPPING NOISE WHENEVER I TURNED A SHARP TURN. NOW THE POPPING IS GETTING WORSE. I WAS INFORMED THROUGH A GUY AT WORK WHO HAS AN 08' G-6 THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE. HE HAS TAKEN HIS TO THE DEALERSHIP COUNTLESS TIMES TO GET IT REPLACED AND THE NEW PARTS JUST KEEP GOING BAD. HE TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE OF LACK OF LUBRICATION, BUT YET THERE ARE NO GREASE ZERKS TO AT GREASE. WHAT A VERY POOR DESIGN, WHAT IGNORANCE, ESPECIALLY THIS DAY AND AGE. ITS COMMON SENSE THAT MOVING METAL PARTS NEED LUBRICATION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW PROPOSAL TO FIX IT WAS TO PUT A PLASTIC SHROUD AROUND THE KNUCKLE, PUMPED FULL OF GREASE, AND JUST HOPE AND PRAY IT WORKS. I'M NO MECHANIC BUT THAT SEEMS PRETTY CRAPPY IF YOU ASK ME. I HAVEN'T HAD THE TIME TO TAKE MY CAR IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT YET, I'M HOPING I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET, BECAUSE OF PONTIAC'S STUPIDITY. I'M HOPING THAT THEY COME OUT WITH A RECALL SOON BEFORE THIS PROBLEM CAUSES A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
STEERING MUCH LIKE OTHERS COMPLAIN HAVING IT SERVICED 2X NOW FOR GREASE REPACKING AT 35,000 KM AND AGAIN AT 50,000 AFTER HEARING CLUNKS. THANKFULLY IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, SALESMAN HAS ADVISED MY A REDESIGN WILL PROBABLY BE DONE SOON, I HAVE MADE '!@#$% SURE THAT SHOULD THIS PROBLEM CONTINUE THEY WILL BE REPACKING IT AFTER THE WARRANTY FOR FREE AND IF AND WHEN A REDESIGN IS AVAILABLE IT WILL BE PUT IN FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
NOTICED A KNOCK WHEN TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AT 40,000 HAD NOTICED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS WEARING MUCH FASTER THAN THE OTHERS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT 44,000 SINCE THE KNOCKING SEEMED TO BE WORSE THEY ADVISED ME THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDS REPLACED COSTING ME $369.00 TOTAL PARTS & LABOR SINCE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. HAVE LOOKED UP THE STEERING ISSUES AND THEY ARE VERY COMMON IN THE PONTIAC G6 I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM AS IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
AT LOW SPEEDS, DRIVING AROUND TOWN, WE HEAR A POPPING SOUND, THAT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
MY PONTIAC 2007 G6 AS VIBRATION IN THE SEARING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. PONTIAC HAS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL INSTEAD OF THE CUSTOMER PAYING FOR IT. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS AND I COULD CREATE. I HAD GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE AND THE BILL WAS FOR EIGHT HUNDRED PLUS DOLLARS TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AND I STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY. PONTIAC STILL WONT FIX IT. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM IN NOV. OF 2008. BEFORE I COULD GET IT LOOKED AT MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN. THE HIT AND RUN OCCURRED ON THE 12TH OF DEC, 2008. *TR
WHILE TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT USUALLY AT A SLOW SPEED OR FROM A COMPLETE STOP MAKING A SHARP TURN, THE STEERING POPS, YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 50,000 MILES AND HAS CONTINUED WHILE GETTING GRADUALLY WORSE. I TOOK IT IN WAY BACK WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND TOLD THAT THE STEERING ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT I COULD NOT AFFORD IT AT THE TIME SO I WAITED AND NOW UNFORTUNATELY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AT 81,000 MILES. RECENTLY (JUST AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED!) THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF WHILE MY HUSBAND OR I AM SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WE COMMUTE 2 HOURS A DAY ON A VERY DANGEROUS PASS. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. I WILL BE CHECKING WITH MY LOCATE DEALER TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKES AND SWING ARM HAD BEEN FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,405.
ON OCTOBER 31,2008 I WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN I HIT SOMEONE STRAIGHT ON FROM BEHIND. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, NOR DID MY SEAT BELT LOCK UP. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE I WAS TOLD I HAD A MINOR CONCUSSION, AND NECK AND SHOULDER SPRAIN. MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL TWICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE CONTACT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN AFTER THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC G6...WITH 35,000 WE STARTED HEARING A CLICKING IN THE STEERING...TOOK IT IN...DEALER SAID THE GREASE HAD WORKED ITS WAY OUT OF THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT....INSTEAD OF FIXING IT WITH AN UPDATED OR IMPROVED DESIGN THEY PUT A NEW GREASE PACK IN IT....WHEN I ASKED WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GREASE COMES OUT AGAIN..HE SAID BRING IT IN AND THEY WILL RE-PACK IT.....OF COURSE AT MY EXPENSE.....THIS SURE SOUNDS LIKE A DESIGN DEFECT.......I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...BUT GM (OF COURSE) WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT TILL SOMEONE'S STEERING FREEZES UP AND THEY GET KILLED...I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A GM GUY....BUT IM DONE WITH THEM...NEVER AGAIN! *TR
STEERING IS POPPING AND ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO LOCK UP. CALLED DEALER THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. CALLED GM THEY TOOK NOTE. I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN A YR THEY REPOSITIONED AND LUBED THE I-SHAFT. NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. MY DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AREA THERE IS A POPPING NOISE WHEN ITS COLD. THAT ALSO WAS LOOKED AT 3 TIMES. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. IT STILL MAKES THE NOISE. ACTUALLY ITS GETTING LOUDER. I WAS TOLD BY GM TO TAKE IT IN AND HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. I HAVE UNDER 50,000 WITH NO WARRANTY. THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED. AND HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT SOMETHING THEY SAY DOESN'T EXIST. THE POPPING IN THE STEERING AND LEFT FRONT IS STILL OCCURRING EVERY DAY BUT IS WORSE WHEN ITS COLD. *TR
I PURCHASED MY G-6 USED. IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED A POPPING IN THE STEERING. IT SEEMED TO GET WORSE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE PLACE I PURCHASED IT. THEY STATED THAT IS NORMAL FOR ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING. I WENT TO THE GMC DEALER, THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THE CLUNKING GOT SO BAD, I RETURNED TO THE GMC DEALER AT WHICH TIME THEY SAID THAT THE STEERING ASSEMBLY ET AL HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY REPLACED IT UNDER A FACTORY WARRANTY AT THAT TIME APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO. ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO, THE SAME THING STARTED AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME AGAIN, NOTHING IS WRONG. THE STEERING CLUNKS, FEELS LIKE IT STICKS AND IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE GMC/PONTIAC WILL NOT DO A RECALL TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM TO A BETTER SAFER DESIGN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. WHEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON IN ORDER FOR THE POWER STEERING TO WORK PROPERLY. THE POWER STEERING HAS ALSO FAILED WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ON. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52000.
I BOUGHT MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 IN APRIL 2007 BY SEPT 08 THERE WAS A STEERING ISSUE THAT RESULTED IN A NEW RACK & PINION BEING PUT IN BY THE DEALERSHIP. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS HAD ANOTHER RACK & PINION REPLACED & A STEERING SHAFT REPLACEMENT. NOW IT FEELS AS IF THE SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING & THE DEALERSHIP NOR GM MOTORS WANTS TO HELP BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS IS A ONGOING ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH THIS YEAR MODEL CAR. *TR
MY BRAKE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING CORRECTLY. WHEN I AM DRIVING AND PUSH THE BRAKE THE LIGHTS TO STOP THEY DON'T TURN ON, THEN WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND HIT THE GAS (NOTHING TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL) THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON WHILE I AM DRIVING AND WHEN I GOT TO STOP AND PUSH DOWN THE BRAKE THEY TURN OFF ... ITS LIKE THEY ARE WORKING BACKWARDS....I HAVE TAKEN IT TO PONTIAC DEALER A FEW TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. MY DAUGHTER DROVE BEHIND ME TODAY AND WITNESSED THE VEHICLE DOING THIS FOR OVER A 10 MILE DRIVE W/ SEVERAL STOP LIGHTS IN BETWEEN AND CARS WERE SLOWING DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ONE WHEN I DIDN'T HIT THE GAS AND THEY THOUGHT I WAS STOPPED AND I HAD NOTHING TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL!! ITS DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE NEAR ME!!! THIS IS LIKE THE 3RD OR 4TH TIME ITS HAPPENED. I HAVE POLICE OFFICER FRIENDS THAT HAVE NOTICED IT AS WELL, STILL PONTIAC REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. 2007 PONTIAC G6 STEERING PROBLEM. CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT TO RIGHT. PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2008 FROM PRESCOTT HONDA, USED, NOTICED CLUNKING SOUND AND PRESCOTT HONDA CALLED A PONTIAC AND HAD THE PONTIAC DEALER IN PRESCOTT AZ TELL THEM WHAT TO DO WHICH WAS TO GREASE THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS WAS AROUND 34,000 MILES NOW AT 53,000 IN 3/2/10, THE SOUND AND PROBLEM IS BACK. *TR

FRONT ROTORS POOR HEAT DISBURSEMENT WARPED AND NEEDED TURNING @ 20,000 KM. MECHANIC ADMITS STOCK ROTORS ARE EASILY WARPED ADVISED TO BUY AFTER MARKET ROTORS IN THE FUTURE. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC G6 I JUST PURCHASED 6-27-07 I AM NOW AT ABOUT 17,000 MILES AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE TURNING ON WHEN I DO NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL.. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH UNDER 15K MILES APPROX EARLY TO MID 2008. HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER SINCE A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING. WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC AT AN INSPECTION THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE STEERING COLUMN. ACTS AS IF IT DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING AND IT SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO MAKE A TURN INTO A PARKING STALL. POWER STEERING AND ALL OTHER RELATED EQUIPMENT TESTED FINE. RECENT RECALL INVOLVING THIS ISSUE INCLUDED CARS BEFORE AND AFTER MINE. I ALSO REPORTED ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS AND MESSAGES WHICH I WAS JUST NOTIFIED ABOUT IN RECALL 13036 THIS WEEK "AFTER" COMPLAINING OF A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS MY VEHICLE HAS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS AS THOSE WITH THE STEERING COLUMN ISSUE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED. I AM IN HOPES YOU WILL BE REVISITING THE STEERING COLUMN ISSUE AND THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT MAY INVOLVE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AT TIMES AND HAPPENS SPORADICALLY WITHOUT NOTICE. CAR JUST HIT 80,000 SO WEAR AND TEAR/EXCESSIVE DRIVING IS NOT AN ISSUE. HAS HAPPENED AS LOW AS 5 MPH AND AS HIGH AS 65 MPH. *TR
I'VE HAD MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR BRAKE "ISSUES". THEY CHANGED PADS, ROTORS AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T STOP THE SQUEAKING AND THAT THE STRANGE "JUMPING" THE BRAKES SEEMED TO DO WAS "NORMAL" FOR ABS - WHICH I KNOW IS NOT CORRECT AS I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS WITH ABS THAT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THIS. RECENTLY, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, THE BRAKES FAILED, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED AND WE HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR. GM SENT AN ENGINEER OUT TO LOOK AT THE EVENT DATA RECORDER; HOWEVER, WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A COPY OF THE REPORT (THEY SAID IT WAS "PROPRIETARY"). THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX MY CAR AND WHEN I ASKED WHY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, THEIR "PROFESSIONAL" TOLD ME "I DON'T KNOW - I WASN'T THERE!". I'VE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON EDMUNDS.COM ABOUT THE ROTORS, OVER-HEATING PROBLEMS AND THE NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED WITH NON-GM PARTS TO (HOPEFULLY) FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND I INTEND TO DISPOSE OF THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
I REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR GOING 35 TO 40 MPH AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF CAUSING ME TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CLICKING NOISE AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, SHE SAW SEVERE SMOKE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THEY CONCLUDED THAT ELECTRICAL FAILURE WAS THE CAUSE. AN INVESTIGATOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE HER WITH ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE SHE DID NOT WITNESS ANY FLAMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS POSSESSION OF THE FAILED COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE STARTER AND BATTERY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,000. UPDATED 06/30/08 *BF THE STARTER SHORTED OUT WHICH CAUSED THE SMOKE. UPDATED
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT NOTICED A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-70 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND THE ISSUE WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT A VENTED ROTOR WAS NEEDED IN ORDER TO KEEP IT COOLER. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE ROTORS WITH A FACTORY MODEL. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE ROTORS BEGAN TO PULSATE AGAIN. THE VIBRATION COULD BE FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
2007 PONTIAC G6 CONVERTIBLE - BRAKES SQUEAK AND CAR SHAKES WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, THEY SPRAYED SOMETHING ON THEM AND TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE I LIVE IN A "HUMID" STATE. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CLUNKING AND RATTLING IN THE STEERING COLUMN FOR YEARS, EVEN SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2007 THE POPPING BEGAN,ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS.ITS TO THE POINT NOW THAT MY CAR FEELS LIKE ITS LITERALLY GOING TO FALL APART WITH ALL THE RATTLING AND VIBRATING. GM SUGGESTED I ROTATE TIRES, RESURFACE ROTORS, REPLACE TIE RODS AND STABILIZER BAR CONTROL LINK`. I HAVE PAID FOR ALL OF THIS AT MY MECHANIC AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I HAVE HAD 2 MECHANICS(NON GM) INSIST THAT ITS THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE BUT GM REFUSES TO FIX THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THEY LUBED THE SHAFT SOME YEARS AGO BUT THAT WAS JUST A BAND AID.I UNDERSTAND THEY WERE REPLACING THE SHAFTS YEARS AGO BUT STOPPED BECAUSE OF THE HIGH COST FOR GM. I KNOW THAT THIS IS AND HAS BEEN MY ISSUES OVER THE YEARS AND IT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. THEY SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT THE CORRECT WAY THE FIRST TIME INSTEAD OF GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND AND HAVING ALL THESE OTHER THINGS DONE TO MY VEHICLE WHEN THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH SPENDING MONEY ON MY VEHICLE WHEN PONTIAC SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING AND OR REPAIRING MY SHAFT. IM SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT TIME BECAUSE IM AFRAID ITS GOING TO FALL APART. SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE FINALLY THIS THIS GONE ON FAR TOO LONG.

ALSO STATED THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM THEY SEE HAPPENING EVERY 14,000 TO 19,000 MILES ON MANY G6'S. FURTHER REVIEWS OF INTERNET FORUMS SHOW MANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED AND WILL NEED REPLACEMENT NEXT TIME. INFORMED ROTORS SHOULD BE A VENTED STYLE TO HELP WITH COOLING. *TR

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATES ABNORMALLY WHEN IT IS DEPRESSED. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED ITS WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

UNDER GOOD, DRY ROAD CONDITIONS ON A FREEWAY, A VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE MOVING INTO MY LANE AND COULD HAVE HIT ME. I STARTED TO BRAKE TO BACK OFF AND MOVED TO THE RIGHT OF MY LANE. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED 4 TO 6 TIMES BEFORE I REGAINED CONTROL. THERE WAS NO COLLISION BECAUSE I REGAINED CONTROL AND OTHER DRIVERS BACKED OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEIR TECHNICIAN REPLICATED THE FISHTAILING. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSON SAID THAT THE COMBINATION OF THE G6 SUSPENSION, STRUTS, WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION, AND SWEPT UP DESIGN RESULTED IN THE G6 FRONT DIPPING DOWN WHEN BRAKED, LIFTING THE REAR AND LOCKING THE BRAKES. GM AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THAT WAS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE BRAKES AND STEERING CHECKED OUT AS SATISFACTORY. THE DEALERSHIP WHICH CHECKED THE CAR OUT BOUGHT THE CAR BACK FOR $3633 LESS THAN I PAID FOR THE VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS BEFORE. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THE BASIC VEHICLE DESIGN IS UNSAFE IF FISHTAILING OCCURS WITH A COMMON EVASIVE MANEUVER UNDER GOOD WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS. *TR
