TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND ENGAGING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HER BACK AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,700.
MY AIR BAG SENSOR TURNED ON IN MY CAR AND IT SAYS TO SERVICE MY AIR BAG. I CALLED GM AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $99.00 TO PUT IT ON THE MACHINE. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS LIKE MOST OF THE PONTIAC HAVE AIR BAG SENSOR PROBLEMS. CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHAT RECALL THERE IS ON THEM. THANK YOU *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON,SAW ONLINE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM,THEY SAID GM HAD A RECALL ON SOME OLDER MODELS BUT MY DAUGHTERS IS A 2009,THEY SUGGESTED PUTTING DIALELECTRIC GREASE ON THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND I DID THIS AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR 2 DAYS SO THEN I WENT TO THE DEALER AND BOUGHT A PEDAL POSITION SENSOR AND REPLACED THAT,THAT WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS THIS IS A GM DEFECT AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ONE PERSON ONLINE SAID THEY HAD THEIRS (PPSENSOR) REPLACED AT THE DEALER 6 TIMES, IT'S ABOUT A 120 DOLLAR JOB,THAT'S NOT FAIR IT;S A DEFECT, SOMEONE WILL AND PROBABLY HAS BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT,I AM REPLACING MY DAUGHTERS TOMORROW IF IT DOES IT AGAIN I WILL TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY 120.00 FOR THEM TO REPLACE IT,BUT A 2008 JUST OUT OF WARRANTY ITS A DEFECT AND A BIG SAFETY ISSUE,GOD I HOPE NOTHING HAPPENS TO HER WHEN IT GOES OUT THE NEXT TIME,PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHEN SHE'S BRAKING BECAUSE THEY STAY ON. *TR
MY HEADLIGHT WENT OUT WAS SMOKING TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT AND SHOP WOULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT ITS WIRING IN THE HEADLIGHT N ITS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM... NOT SOMETHING THAT THE SHOP COULD FIX. *TR
LOW BEAM / DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON DRIVER'S SIDE INOPERATIVE DUE TO FAULTY - BADLY CORRODED SOCKET AND WIRING CONNECTIONS. GM HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE AND SELLS REPLACEMENT PLUGS WITH WIRE ENDS AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ACROSS ALL VEHICLES BUILT BY GM. A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE SAFETY ISSUES SUCH AS INOP HEADLIGHTS / THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIRS AND COSTS. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS. *TR
MY POWER STEERING SEEMS TO BE GOING OUT AND IT IS NOT A LACK OF FLUID ISSUE AND THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES SQUEAKING NOISES EVERY TIME YOU TURN IT. IT IS VERY HARD TO STEER AT TIMES AS WELL. I NOTICED PREVIOUS YEAR PONTIAC G6'S HAVE A PROBLEM AND SO DO G5'S SO I AM FILING THIS IN HOPES THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING AS WELL AND A RECALL IS SOON ISSUED. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN BRAKES NOT APPLIED, TURNED OFF WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED (ACCORDING TO FAMILY MEMBER WHO WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME). PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF, BUT HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. SUBSEQUENT OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT - BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES NOT APPLIED, THEN TURN OFF BRIEFLY AND COME BACK ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED, BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF FOR ~5-10 SECONDS BEFORE COMING BACK ON. OCCURRED AGAIN THIS MORNING - ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE BY DISCONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND RECONNECTING AFTER ~15 MINUTES TO SEE IF THE SYSTEM WOULD RESET ITSELF, BUT IT DID NOT. INCIDENTS SEEM RANDOM - HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY A COMMON THREAD (SUCH AS HARD BRAKING, VEHICLE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES, WEATHER, OTHER LIGHTING ISSUES, ETC). *TR
CAR IS MAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT TOOK TO MY MECHANIC HE SAID ITS THE CONTROL ARMS NO CAN DEALERSHIP WHERE BOUGHT CAR SAID IT WASN'T COVERED MY SON JUST HAD TO REPLACE HIS CONTROL ARMS ON HIS G6 ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I HAVE READ UP ON THIS ON THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM ON THE G6 ITHINKIT SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL IS PEOPLE ARE HAVING SO MANY PROBLEM WITH THE CONTROL ARM. *TR

REAR LOCK MECHANISM DOES NOT ENGAGE PRESENTING SAFETY ISSUE FOR THOSE IN REAR SEAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK OPTIMO H725A TIRES, SIZE 225/50/17 WITH DOT NUMBER, 5MLPPDYH4707. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE SIDEWALL ON ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED SEVERAL CRACKS WHICH RESULTED IN CONSISTENT LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,400.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP LIGHTING UP AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. ON COLD DAYS MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL JUST QUIT WORKING. I HAVE HAD THIS INTO THE GM SHOP TWO TIMES AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE PWOER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 91,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS MANY PROBLEMS STARTING WITH THE SEAT BELT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IS MALFUNCTIONING, BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME, WATER PUMP WENT OUT IN 2012, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER STICKS IN PARK, THE CAR HAS SHUT DOWN ON THE STREET WHILE DRIVING AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE APPEARS, THE TWO REAR PASSENGER AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, THE TRUNK BUTTON IS INOPERABLE. I AM FED UP WITH ALL OF THE ELECTRONIC ISSUES AND HAVE TRIED TO HAVE THEM RESOLVED AT THE DEALERSHIP PAID TO HAVE THEM FIXED AND IT HAS RETURNED. THE ROOF OF THE CAR IS SHOWING RUST AND THE STEERING COLUMN WAS CLUNKING WHICH WAS FIXED UNDERWARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WELL IT SEEMS THE PROBLEM THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED BACK IN SEPT. 27, 2011 WITH MY 2008 G6 IS BACK (11/4/2013) SEE CORRESPONDENCE BELOW. I PAID $113.14 AT PETE BAUR AND THE PROBLEM IS BACK AT 75,000 MILE (ONLY 20K MILES LATER). THE CAR IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL THE BRAKE PETAL IS PUSHED. THEN THEY TURN OFF. WHAT A MESSED UP WAY FOR A SAFETY SYSTEM LIKE BRAKE LIGHTS TO FAIL. THE CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. I ALSO HAD TO REMOVE THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT FUSE BECAUSE THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON ALL THE TIME AND THE THE CAR WOULD BE ELECTRICALLY DEAD WHEN I WOULD GO TO START IT. THE BATTERY WAS NOT DRAINED AT ALL. IT WOULD JUST BE DEAD UNTIL I GAVE IT A GOOD JUMP. AND ANOTHER THING THE KEY FOBS ARE TOTALLY MESSED UP. THEY BARLEY WORK ANYMORE. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK THIS CAR IS. OH, ALSO THE SEVICE TRACTION CONTROL COME ON RANDOMLY. I CAN'T BELEIVE NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED YET. IF I COULD AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR I WOULD. I DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE THIS IN MY FAMILY. GM - NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE SELLING. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND BRAKE SWITCH WAS REPLACED. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART IN PARK. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE TO START IN NEUTRAL THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL AWAY IN PARK GEAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACT AS IF IT WAS IN A CORRECT GEAR AND IT DID NOT WANT TO GO IN REVERSE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT SERVICE. IT WAS REPAIRED AND FINALLY WAS TOLD THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS REPLACED. I INITIALLY TOOK MY VEHICLE IN 9 DAYS (7/25/11( AFTER PURCHASED (7/14/11 PURCHASED DATE) BACK TO THE AUTO STORE TO TELL THEM MY CAR ACTS AS IF I DID NOT WANT TO GET GEARS OR IT WOULD ACT ASK IT WANTED TO CUT OFF IN PARK. I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. AFTER THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART I TOOK IT BACK AND TOLD THEM THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT WAS STILL ACTING THE SAME FROM MY FIRST VISIT ON 7/25/11. AFTER RESEARCH, I REALIZED THAT SOME 2009 PONTIAC G6 WERE RECALLED DUE TO GEAR SHIFT CABLES. MINES IS A 2008 THAT EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS IN THE HEADLIGHTS, BUT THE NEW BULBS WERE ONLY AN INTERMITTENT REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

SOMETIMES WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BOBBLE LEFT TO RIGHT. THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME WORSE AND NOW HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, AS IF THE WHEEL IS LOCKING A FEW DEGREES LEFT OR RIGHT. THE STEERING ALSO FEELS VERY HEAVY, THE CAR GIVES NO WARNING BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. NOTICEABLE MOTOR-LIKE NOISE COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN WHILE STEERING WHEEL IS BOBBLING. DEALER INSPECTED, COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM, NO BAD CODES WERE NOTED. HOWEVER, ISSUE CONTINUES WITH CONTROL PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THE WIRES IN THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT BURNED AND MELTED TOGETHER CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACE AND THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A WELL KNOW DEALERSHIP, THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, EXPECT THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING SOUND. EVERYTIME I TURN TO THE RIGHT IT CLICKS LIKE SOMETHING IS FALLING APART. THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALL FROM GM SINCE APPARENTLY IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL PONTIAC VEHICLES. THE WHEEL AT ANY POING CAN LOCK ITSELF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY PONTIAC G6, THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME PULLED UP ASIDE MY VEHICLE, INFORMING ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING, MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ACTUALLY ON; AND WHILE BRAKING, MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. I WAS ALMOST 800 MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND WAS VERY CLOSE TO BEING PART OF A MULTI-CAR PILE UP. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. I ALSO KNOW ANOTHER PERSON WHO IS HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *TR

THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WILL NOT COME ON, WE HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT SINCE MY HUSBAND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2009. WE WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB AND IT WORKED FOR A DAY OR TWO. WHEN WE WENT TO REPLACE IT YET AGAIN WE NOTICED THAT THE SOCKET THAT THE HEADLIGHT GOES INTO WAS MELTED. WHEN WE WENT IN TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE TO ASK WHAT TO DO WE WERE INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUES IN A LOT OF GM VEHICLES. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUES TO LOCK UP AND RISK MY LIFE. I HAD IT FIXED BY THE DEALER ([XXX]) AND IT STILL DOES IT! I ALMOST WAS HIT BY A SEMI THE LAST TIME SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP HAD FAILED. THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE WOULDL NOT START. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THERE ARE NO RECALLS AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO CONTACT NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THERE ARE NO RECALLS AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I HAVEN'T GOT IT FIXED YET BUT POWER STEERING COMES ACROSS MY RADIO EVERYDAY. *TR
THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THE PROBLEM I WAS BEING FOLLOWED BY A FAMILY MEMBER AND THEY NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINING ON AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME NOW. I CAN BE DRIVING FROM 20MPH TO 70+MPH DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE AND REMAIN ON WITHOUT ME USING THE BRAKE PEDAL. A LIGHT TOUCH TO THE BRAKES WILL TURN THEM OFF, BUT JUST FOR A SECOND. I HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED ONCE IN THE LAST YEAR; HOWEVER, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS ISSUE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT ACCIDENT. I AM AFRAID THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE OTHER ERRORS AND ISSUES WITH IN THE VEHICLE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR BUT HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMING FROM. I HAVE ALSO ASKED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A DEFINITIVE ANSWER ON A SOLUTION EITHER. FROM SOME INTERNET RESEARCH IT APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH OTHER PONTIAC G6 OWNERS. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED ONTO THE SHOULDER TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND ON BUT IT DID NOT RESET THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS HOME. A MECHANIC INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HIM TO CONTACT THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,213.
