I HAVE 2009 PONTIAC G6 WHERE MY CRUISE WAS KICKING OFF COME TO FIND OUT THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT COME ON WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BRAKE PETAL. THE BRAKE LIGHT JUST STAY ON UNTIL I PUSH THE PETAL AND RELEASE IT THEN THERE OFF FOR FEW SECONDS AND POP BACK ON.
I RECEIVED A BRAKE LIGHT RECALL IN THE MAIL. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS WORKING AND SOMETIMES NOT. THEY SOMETIMES COME ON WHEN I AM NOT BRAKING AND SOMETIMES DO NOT LIGHT UP WHEN I AM BRAKING. I CLEARLY HAVE THE PROBLEM NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I AM NOW TRYING TO FIND THE NOTICE THAT CAME IN THE MAIL. I HAVE MISPLACED IT, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME. I AM A LOW INCOME PERSON AND CANNOT AFFORD THE EXPENSE OF HAVING THIS REPAIRED AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SINCE I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ABS. TRACTION CONTROL, ESC AND STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. MY G6 WAS RECALLED LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE BCM. THE PROBLEM CAUSED LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL, CRUISE CONTROL AND THE LIGHTS TO MALFUNCTION. SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS FIXED, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. A SWITCH WAS REPLACED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THIS TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THE BCM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST $800. THE REASON FOR THE RECALL WAS "INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE BMC MAY RESULT IN VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS". I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE REPLACING THE BCM. IT IS VERY SCARY AND UPSETTING WHEN THE "SERVICE TRACTION" WARNING APPEARS WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT AND NOT KNOWING IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON OR NOT.

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALER TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
BRAKE LIGHT INTERMITTENT. ILLUMINATES WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED OR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. FIRST OCCURED 2013. DEALER REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH,. THEN AGAIN IN JUNE 2015. DEALER RELEARNED BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH POSITION. OCCURRED AGAIN THIS WEEK. I HAVE NOT RETURNED TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICES. PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. THIS DOES TO SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS RAINING HEAVILY. OTHER DRIVERS ON ROAD NOTIFIED ME WHEN PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING.

BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY UNLESS THE BRAKE IS APPLIED (TALK ABOUT SAFETY HAZARD!), THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL RANDOMLY DISENGAGE, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL ALARM AND LIGHT UP.

WAS INFORMED BY COWORKER THAT WHEN DRIVING BEHIND ME, HE NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE REVERSED (ON WHEN DRIVING, TURNED OFF WHEN BRAKING). THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR RANDOMLY, HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY WHETHER CERTAIN CONDITIONS CAUSE THE PROBLEM. AFTER NOTICING A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM, I VISITED THE GM DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. NOT SURE IF GM IS JUST SLOW AT UPDATING RECALLED VINS IN ITS SYSTEM OR IF SOMEHOW MY VEHICLE SKIRTED BY. *TR

BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND STAYED ON UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. UPON GOING OUT, THEY WOULD COME BACK ON IN UNDER A MINUTE. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND WAS TOLD BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME IT WAS THE SENSOR CASING. IT WAS RESEALED AND PROBLEM STOPPED. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD RESISTANCE IN BCM CONNECTORS. THEY CLEANED AND LUBE THE TERMINALS IN BOTH BCM CONNECTORS AND RESET BPP SENSOR. YET I WAS CHARGED THIS TIME EVENTHOUGH IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE REPORTED. THE SERVICE DEPT REP SAID IT WAS A DIFFERENT FIX AND THEREFORE NOT THE SAME. I KNOW THIS MUST BE A DEFECT BECAUSE I HAVE READ OTHER WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
AS I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK TODAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH, A COWORKER WAS FOLLOWING ME. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT WORK, HE SAID THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON THE ENTIRE TIME HE WAS BEHIND ME, ABOUT 4 MILES. WHEN I TAPPED MY BRAKES TO MAKE THE TURN INTO OUR WORKS PARKING LOT, MY COWORKER SAID THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND DID NOT TURN BACK ON, EVEN WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES IN THE PARKING LOT. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED DURING THE 4 MILES WHILE DOING 55. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE CRUISE CONTROL ALSO DISENGAGED WHENEVER THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE AUTO SHOP MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE MECHANIC STATED THE BRAKE SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

THIS IS A DANGER BEACUSE I HAVE A LONG COMMUTE TO WORK AND I HAVE NO WAY OF WARNING DRIVERS WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING. THE ISSUE ALSO CAUSES MY CRUISE CONTROL TO MALFUNCTION. *TR
