MY EPS KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING AND I LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER MY CAR. I'VE DONE RESEARCH ON THE RECALLS BUT, CAN NOT SOLVE MY PROBLEMS. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I FEELS IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
WAS DRIVING AND SAW A FLAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD.*LN*JB
PROBLEMS WITH MY ELECTRIC ASSIST POWER STEERING IT KEEPS GOING IN AND OUT I'VE ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF IT GM OFFER TO RECALL BUT SAYS MY VIN NUMBER DOESN'T COVER THE RECALL FOR THE ELECTRIC ASSIST POWER STEERING FOR MY CAR. MY CAR WAS CLEARLY EFFECTED BY THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS PART. IT'S A SAFTEY ISSUE AND ALMOST KILLED MY SELF MY SON AND MY UNBORN CHILD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PASTOR AND DECIDE TO GO OUT THE FIRST TIME AND CAUSED ME TO GO OVER INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AND IT DID THE SAME THING. BEING PREGNANT WITH HIGH RISK PREGNANCY MADE STEERING MY CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THE ELECTRIC ASSIST MOTOR OR POWER STEERING WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT IS THE WORST THING GM EVER DID. IT'S PROBABLY CAUSED A LOT OF PEOPLE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED EVEN. AND THEY WON'T COVER MY VEHICLE UNDER THERE RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER CHECKING, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL CONCERNING PROBLEM. RECALL DATE 3/31/14 WITH THE 2005-2009 PONTIAC G6. I CONTACTED THE GM REPRESENTATIVE AT THE 1800 NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS RECALL DOESN'T PERTAIN TO THE PARTICULAR 09 G6 THAT I HAVE PURCHASED.
THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM HAS FAILED SO THAT THE POWER STEERING IS SPONTAIASLY DISABLED WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS CONCERNING THIS AND THE RECALL PERTAINING TO THIS FACTORY DEFECT. RECALL # 14V153000. RECALL DATE IS 3/21/2014. ANOTHER RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE IS RECALL #N140115, BULLETIN #14119 (TO PROVIDE EPS MOTOR FOR "THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE". I HAVE CALLED THE TOLL FREE NUMBER AND SPOKE WITH THEIR REPRESENTATIVE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY REFUSE TO HONOR THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THE UNIT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IT GOES OUT, I MUST STEER MANUALLY. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING. IT IS DIFFICULT TO STAY IN MY LANE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS AS OF YE, BUT CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. AFTER SITTING FOR AWHILE, IT IS FINE AND POWER STEERING WORKS AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE IN YEARS PAST BUT HAS NOT OCCURRED IN AWHILE SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. NOW, IT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN.
GOT PULLED OVER FOR BRAKE LIGHTS NOT ACTING WHEN ENGAGED, AND VICEVERSA. OFFICER NOTICED I WAS DRIVING FINE, BUT MY LIGHTS WERE NOT. ISSUES WITH STEERING, JERKY MOTIONS AT LOW SPEED CAN'T DISENGAGE PARKING OR PARKING BRAKE WITHOUT BRAKING ENGAGED SHIFT STICK WHEN CHANGING TO DRIVE CONSTANT STEERING AND TIRE SENSOR SERVICE SENSOR
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A RESIDENTIAL CITY STREET WHEN I LOST POWER-ASSISTED STEERING ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AFTER A FULL-STOP AT A STOP SIGN. SUDDENLY, IT REQUIRED A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NO. 14V153000 EXACTLY DESCRIBES THE CONDITION EXPERIENCED WITH MY VEHICLE: "IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE.
ANOTHER COMPLAINT ABOUT THE FUEL ODOR WHICH IS CAUSED BY POOR MATERIAL USED ON FUEL PUMP. IT IS AROUND REAR OF CAR AND INSIDE CAR, ALSO OVER MUFFLER. POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO GM FOR A RECALL. HAPPENS TO 99% OF THESE VEHICLES. IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN.
BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR AND NOW THE TRUNK BRAKE LIGHT IS THE ONLY ONE WORKING REGULAR LIGHTS ALL WORK BUT THE LIGHT ON THE TRUNK IS THE ONLY BRAKE LIGHT THAT WORKS WHEN PRESSING THE FOOT PEDAL.
I WAS PARKED IN A MOSTLY VACANT PARKING LOT ABOUT 8PM. I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE AFTER COMING OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE. I PUT KEY INTO IGNITION BUT DID NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK OR MOVE THE CAR. I TURNED ON THE DOME LIGHT TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. AS I WAS LEANING TOWARD PASSENGER DOOR, THE HEAD CURTAIN AND SEAT SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED LITERALLY IN MY FACE. ONLY THE AIR BAGS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT WAS VERY LOUD AND SOME POWDERY TYPE SUBSTANCE HAD BEEN DISPENSED INTO THE AIR. IT MADE INTERIOR SURFACES FEEL A BIT SLIPPERY , HAD A STRONG ODOR AND MADE MY EYES BURN. HAVING NEVER EXPERIENCED AIR BAGS DEPLOYING ,IT SEEMED LIKE MY CAR HAD JUST EXPLODED.FOR A MOMENT I COULD NOT SEE OR HEAR. I THEN REMOVED THE KEY AND OPENED DRIVERS DOOR. I SAW SOMETHING DUSTY FLOAT OUT ON THE AIR. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED. AT THAT POINT I LOOKED OVER THE CAR ,SAW THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED.THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ANYWHERE NEAR ME NOR WAS THERE ANY EVIDENCE THAT ANYTHING HAD HIT THE CAR. IT WAS QUITE A SHOCK TO HAVE THIS RANDOMLY HAPPEN. I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT . AFTER STARTING THE CAR TO SEE HOW IT RAN ,I DROVE IT HOME. I REPORTED IT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY.AFTER MANY QUESTIONS AND SEVERAL DAYS OF REVIEW I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO IMPACT AND AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYING WOULD BE CONSIDERED A MECHANICAL FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND IT WAS HARD TO STEER. I TURNED MY CAR OFF WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND IT SAT FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE AND STARTED TO DRIVE THE STEERING HAD RETURNED. A CHIN WENT OFF AND THE WORDS PI WERE STEERING APPEARED WHEN IT HAD GONE OUT.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, WHEN HE STARTED TO DEPRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED TO TURN LEFT AND CRASH INTO AN ONCOMING VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS HEAD AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM, WHERE HE HAD 15 STITCHES INSIDE AND 10 STITCHES OUTSIDE OF HIS HEAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 202,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear brake lights stayed on continuously even when the brake pedal was not depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and an unknown switch underneath the dashboard was replaced however, the failure recurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

TRANSMISSION CLUTCH IS DEFECTIVE, WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP, THE CAR WON'T ROLL BACK, HAVE TO APPLY GAS

CALLED A MAN NAMED [XXX] AND HE WAS TO GET BACK TO ME PAYING FOR MY REPAIRS. ODI #11317903---REF [XXX], ANOTHER NUMBER HE GAVE ME WAS 14V1563000. HE WAS TO EMAIL ME WITH HOW TO RESOLVE . THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. DONAGHE BUICK GMC LOCATED AT 4205 I-30 FRONTAGE RD, GREENVILLE, TX 75402, (903) 455-5100, WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that a friend had alerted him that his brake lights remained illuminated while driving. The contact also stated that the brake lights would go out upon the depression of the brake pedal without warning. The contact then placed some dielectric grease on the brake wiring harness which repaired the brake light connection. The contact also stated that the front driver’s side headlight also failed to operate without warning. The contact applied dielectric grease to the wiring harness however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control). The contact had spoken with the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON .GARAGE PULLED CODES AND DISCOVERED 4 FULL QUARTS LOW ON OIL. THEY PROCEEDED WITH DIAGNOSIS AND TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED TO BLOWN MOTOR. NO OIL LIGHT EVER CAME ON NOR ANY WARNING FROM THE DRIVER INFO CENTER ON THE DASH.
WHILE DRIVING CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS YOU LOSE POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING IT HARD TO TURN VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN POWER TO THE STEERING CONTROL IS TO COMPLETELY TURN THE CAR OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE POWER STEERING IN MY CAR IS INCREDIBLY BAD. IF I START MY CAR, I CANNOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL, IT NEEDS A LARGE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO TURN. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND START IT UP AGAIN, ITS GOOD AS NEW...UNTIL I START DRIVING. IF I AM DRIVING TO A PLACE THAT TAKES 25 MINUTES, IT WILL LOCK UP ATLEAST 3 TO 4 TIMES. THIS MORNING WHILE TURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, IT LOCKED UP AND EVEN WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND START IT UP AGAIN, IT STAYED LOCKED.
STEERING WHEEL TWITCHES AND SHAKES WHILE IN IDLE AND WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATES WHEN INITIALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. SOMETIMES AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN ON AGAIN, POWER STEERING WILL COME BACK. LOSS OF POWER STEERING HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, AND WHILE IDLE.
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND ONLY TURNS BACK ON IF THE CAR IS RESTARTED. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME COMING FROM IDLE AND WHILE MOVING ABOVE 50MPH ON THE FREEWAY

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STRANDED AT THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. A FAMILY MEMBER WAS ABLE AFTER A WHILE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
POWER STEERING LOSS WHILE DRIVING HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES THIS WEEK AND SRS PPS PROBLEM
THE POWER STEERING HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THE POWER STEERING WAS INTERMITTENTLY ACTING UP, WHEN I WOULD START THE VEHICLE. EVENTUALLY, THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT WHILE DRIVING, AND A MESSAGE OF POWER STEERING WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. MY REGULAR MECHANIC SAYS THAT THIS IS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE POWER STEERING ASSIST QUIT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THIS WAS CORRECTED TEMPORARILY AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT. I HAD AT LEAST A DOZEN EPISODES OF THIS AND IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY.THIS WOULD OCCUR AT TIMES WHEN FIRST ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE AND AFTER I HAD SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN. I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT WHILE AT IDLE. I AM CONCERNED OF THIS PREVENTING ME FROM STEERING IN A CRITICAL SITUATION. I AM TRYING TO USE THIS CAR AS LEAST AS POSSIBLE UNTIL IT IS CORRECTED.
Strong fuel smell from rear of Pontiac G6 near fuel tank. This is a common problem due to a cracked elbow on top of the fuel pump. This issue is happening among all G6 models from 05 to 09 . This issue should be recalled as it is dangerous to the drivers , passengers or anyone that comes within 3 ft of Pontiacs that have this issue. Fuel odor can be smelt from further than 3ft that can damage to lungs, throat and multiple other health hazards. The fumes can reach even further witch is easily ignited if someone were to walk by with a cigarette This issue is common in 75% of Pontiac G6's on the road This defective part should be placed on recall and should definitely be looked into before someone loses their lives over an easily preventable occurrence from happening. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND POWER STEERING APPEARED ON MY RADIO. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE EXPRESSWAY AND WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD, ALMOST TO THE INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN.
ON TWO DIFFERNT OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT I COULD TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART AND WOULD HAVE POWER STEERING
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, IT NO LONGER WOULD SHIFT GEARS. UNABLE TO SHIFT CAR OUT OF NEUTRAL EXCEPT FOR REVERSE AND HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR SEVERAL BLOCKS IN REVERSE TO GET IT HOME.

1.WHEN DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON IT WILL TURN OFF FOR NO REASON. 2. WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT GETS REALLY WARM AND THE SEAT IS NOT ON. 3. THE TRACTION CONTROLLER COMING ON WHILE DRIVING.

On two separate instances, several studs had detached from the front driver’s side, and on the driver’s and passenger’s rear wheels. STEERING WHEEL STARTED TURNING / SHIMMYING BY ITSELF JUST WHEN STANDING STILL, RANDOMLY. STARTED DOING IT WHILE DRIVING A FEW WEEKS LATER. SHIMMY/TURNING WHEEL HAPPENED MORE OFTEN AS TIME PASSED, WHILE PARKED, DRIVING, BACKING UP, DRIVING SURFACE STREETS AND FREEWAYS, AND NOW MY POWER STEERING LIGHT IS ON!?! IT TURNS LOOSLY TO THE RIGHT AND TIGHT TO THE LEFT. I AM BEYOND PERTURBED, AS THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED WITH OTHER YEARS THIS MODEL WAS MADE THAT DID HAVE RECALLS. ALL GM OFFERED WAS A $100 VOUCHER TO USE TOWARD DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THEY TOLD ME THAT ANY EXTENDED COVERAGE I HAD THAT COULD HAVE BEEN COVERED WITH THIS REPAIR/FIX EXPIRED THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH, BUT MAYBE I COULD GET A DEARLER-ASSISTED REPAIR??!?! I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE ANYWHERE, LET ALONE THE FREEWAYS. I'D LIKE TO ADD, I ONLY HAVE JUST OVER 62K MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR HAVE STEERING FAILURE, EVER., LET ALONE IMAGINE THIS AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE! I SWEAR, THAT IF THEY DON'T RESOLVE THIS AND FIX IT IT'LL BE MY LAST GM CAR. SAD, AFTER MY DAD POURED HIS BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS INTO THIS COMPANY FOR SO MANY YEARS. SMH. MAYBE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT? HOW CONVENIENT TO CUT OFF A RECALL OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM BY MANUFACTURING DATES, WHEN THIS RECALL WASN'T EVEN ISSUED UNTIL 2014!! THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. AFTER STARTING THE CAR ON DRY PAVEMENT IN A PARKING LOT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING STALL. AFTER TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THE POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. THIS MADE STEERING THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE. THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT WAS NOT ISSUED FOR MY VIN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND GM SHOULD DO WHAT IS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THEIR VEHICLES ARE SAFE FOR THE PUBLIC TO DRIVE AND BE SAFE WHILE OTHERS ARE DRIVING THEM.

I WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH, I BRAKED AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO APPROXIMATELY 5-15 MPH AS I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A GAS STATION, AS I WAS TURNING I HEARD A CHIME AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER, AND AT THE SAME TIME A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON DASH STATING "SERVICE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING" I PULLED UP TO PUMP, TURNED VEHICLE OFF, FILLED FUEL TANK, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. I RESEARCHED ONLINE FOUND THAT GM HAS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE AND EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. SO I TOOK TO GM DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN VIN INFORMED ME THAT THE COVERAGE EXPIRED DECEMBER OF 2018. SO I CALLED GM HOTLINE AT 800-762-2737 AND THEY SAID SAME THING. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OF IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT IF MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING THEY MAY HAVE PANIC AND GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. THEY AGAIN SAID AS OF DECEMBER 2018 THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT. I FEEL THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY ADMITTED THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WHY ARE THEY NOT ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT ?
