TWICE, THE POWER STEERING HAS GIVEN OUT IN MY CAR WHEN I FIRST START IT. SIMULTANEOUSLY, "POWER STEERING" APPEARS ON THE INFORMATION PANEL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL OF THE CAR AT ALL. BOTH TIMES I TURNED THE CAR OFF BECAUSE IT WAS OBVIOUSLY UNDRIVABLE. OUT OF DESPERATION, I TURNED IT BACK ON; THE INFORMATION PANEL RETURNED TO IT'S REGULAR DISPLAY AND THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNED TO IT'S REGULAR FUNCTIONALITY. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW DAYS. I DID SOME RESEARCH INTO THESE SYMPTOMS AND FOUND SOME VERY DISTURBING CONCERNS. FOR ONE, THIS SEEMS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO A GREAT MANY PEOPLE IN SIMILAR MODEL YEARS TO MY OWN CAR. FOR TWO, I'M SEEING REPORTS WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO INDIVIDUALS AS THEY WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. AT LEAST ONE PERSON CLAIMS TO HAVE REPORTED IT AND I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT I'M ON MY OWN HERE. I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS DIED FROM AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS? IF SO, WOULD ANYONE EVEN KNOW SINCE THE PROBLEM IS TRANSIENT? I INTEND TO HAVE THIS MATTER INVESTIGATED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TOMORROW. BUT, MY REAL QUESTION IS THIS: DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED? MY KIDS LIVES ARE ON THE LINE WITH THIS CAR EVERYDAY, AND THIS KIND OF PROBLEM IS TERRIFYING.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR, WHICH IS AT 136000 MILES, AND I HAD STOPPED AT A STORE AND PARKED IT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR, I TURNED THE IGNITION AND POWER STEERING CAME ON THE RADIO SCREEN. I COULD NOT TURN MY WHEEL WHATSOEVER. I TURNED THE CAR BACK OFF AND ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND DROVE HOME JUST FINE. I'M WORRIED THAT IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN. IT SEEMS VERY UNSAFE.
MY POWER STEERING WAS GOING OUT ERATICALLY AND I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART MY VEHICLE TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN. THEN IT WENT OUT COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE SEVERAL VIDEOS ONLINE FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME CARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONED PROPERLY; HOWEVER, "POWER STEERING" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CALLED AND SUGGESTED REPLACING THE STEERING RACK DUE TO A FAULTY SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR WILL LOOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND THEN A WARNING MESSAGES ABOUT THE POWER STEERING COMES ON. IF I SHUT CAR OFF AND BACK ON POWER STEERING IS RESTORED THEN THE WHEEL SHAKES AND IT GOES OUT AGAIN, RESEARCH IT AND FOUND A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR THAT DESCRIBES THE EXACT ISSUE I AM HAVE AND WHEN I CONTACT PONTIAC OR A GM DEALER THEY TELL ME BASED ON MY VIN I HAVE NO RECALLS. GAVE PONTIAC NHTSA # 14V153000, GM# N140115 AND BULLETIN # 14116 AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL WITH THOSE NUMBERS. I SHOULD THE RECALLS WERE ISSUED ON 3/31/2014
MY CAR, WHEN DRIVING, WILL HAVE THE ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK UP. MY STEERING WILL BE LOCKED AND I CAN'T TURN IT RIGHT OR LEFT. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON A FEEDER ROAD, AND I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND RESTART MY CAR TO RESET THE ELECTRONIC STEERING. LUCKILY NO CARS WERE AROUND ME OR I WOULD OF COLLIDED WITH THEM. THIS IS VERY SCARY IF I WERE TO DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY I PROBABLY WOULD CRASH. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BE TWICE SO FAR. ANOTHER TIME I LUCKILY WAS IN A LOW SPEED PARKING GARAGE WHEN IT HAPPENED. I RECENTLY WENT TO 2 CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX THIS FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS A RECALL. WHEN I WENT INTO BOTH THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS EXPIRED AND THEY WOULD NEED TO CHARGE ME. PLEASE HELP ME SEARCH IF THIS IS A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS BIG ISSUE WITH MY CAR.
TRACTION HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON WITH PRESSING THE TRACTION BUTTON. WHILE BRAKING THE CAR PULLS QUICKLY TO THE LEFT, IT'S REALLY BAD WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT A GREAT AMOUNT OF SPEED. WHILE BRAKING TO GO AROUND A CURVE THE STEERING PULLS THE OTHER DIRECTION THEN WHAT YOUR TURNING SO YOU HAVE TO KEEP A FIRM GRIP ON THE STEERING WHEEL
MY POWER STEERING HAS BEEN DISABLED NUMEROUS TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING. AT FIRST IT WOULD DISABLE UPON IGNITION. I AT TIMES RESTART 3X BEFORE IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. NOW IT'S GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS! CURRENTLY AT 71,000 MILES. I DRIVE CITY STREETS AND FREEWAY TO AND FROM WORK.

POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING WHEN DRIVING AND AT IDLE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS BACK AND FORTH ABOUT A HALF AN INCH.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING.
MY VEHICLES AIR BAGS CODE SHOWING ON DISPLAY. IT STAYS ON WHETHER CAR IS PARKED AND RUNNING OR WHILE DRIVING. I'M AFRAID I'LL HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS WON'T WORK. I QUESTION WHETHER THEY EVER WORKED. I HAD A DOG RUN OUT IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND COULDN'T STOP IN TIME TO AVOID HITTING DOG. DAMAGED FRONT ON PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOW I'M DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS, MAJOR METRO STREETS, AND I'M CONCERNED FOR SAFETY. I'VE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING AND MAJOR HARM TO DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS. I DON'T WANT TO BECOME A STATISTIC. REPORTS HAVE BEEN FILED OVER A LONG RANGE OF YEARS AND I FEEL THERE'S ENOUGH INFORMATION TO MAKE THE CALL FOR GM TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND EITHER REPLACE THE PROBLEM PART(S) OR BUY BACK THE VEHICLES. THERE ARE MULTIPLY PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR THAT I'VE HAD TO HAVE REPAIRS MADE TO MAKE THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONAL. AS AN OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, I'M ASKING FOR HELP.
The drivetrain: automatic transmission parking lock cable (or shift cable) malfunctioned. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am able to put the car in 'park' and remove the key. However, when I attempt to start the vehicle, it won't start because the battery gets drained. I have to constantly get a jump off. My safety and the safety of others are at risk because I never know how much the battery has been drained, and the vehicle shuts off in trafffic. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has only been inspected by an independent service center. There have been no warning signs of the problem before shutting off or not starting. The vehicle was purchased in 2019, and the first occurrence was the same year. We knew something was draining the battery. We just did not know what. So we would not let the vehicle sit for more than a day without starting it, and we would always be prepared to charge the battery.
TAKATA RECALL - THE LEFT DIM HEADLAMP GETS SO HOT THAT IT MELTS THE WIRES AND THE BULB CONNECTOR CAUSE THE HEADLAMP TO ONLY WORK SOMETIMES OR NOT AT ALL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN EVER THE LAMP GETS TO HOT WHETHER PARKED, OR MOVING.
MY 2009 PONTIAC G6 WAS IN PARK. STARTED MY CAR WITH REMOTE STARTER AND OPENED DOOR WITH IT. WHEN I GOT IN THE ALARM WENT OFF ABOUT MY POWER STEERING. IT WAS FROZEN AND COULDN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. LUCKILY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD AAA TOW IT TO MY MECHANIC. FAILED TWO CODES C0460 AND C0545 FOR THE STEERING TORQUE INPUT SENSOR AND THE STEERING WHEEL SENSOR. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND CAN FREEZE UP ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. MOST LIKELY NEED A NEW STEERING COLUMN. ESTIMATE TO FIX AROUND $700. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM ON THESE CARS THAT GM FAILS TO RECOGNIZE. IT'S QUITE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT CAN HAPPEN A MOMENTS NOTICE.

THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (BERGER CHEVROLET, 2525 28TH ST SE, GRAND RAPIDS, MI) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING COMES ON.. HAD IT REPALCE NOW IT HAS TO GO TO A GM DEALER THE HAVE CLEARED... VERY EXPENSIVE.. I THOUGH AIRBAG ISSUES WERE WARRANTIED FOR LIFE OF CAR... G8 HAS 99K ON IT... GM SHOULD HELP PART # 92231137

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT CALLED TROY-ALAN CHEVROLET BUICK GMC AT (724) 578-8248 (LOCATED AT 217 GROVE CITY RD, SLIPPERY ROCK, PA 16057) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK VIOLENTLY, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
MY CAR IS HARD TO TURN IT TAKES HELP OF MY LITTLE BROTHER TO TURN THE STREEING WHEEL.I CAN DRIVE OVER 30 MILES PER HOUR WITH OUT THE STEERING WHEEL SHANKING. I WENT TO TWO AUTO SHOP TO HAVE POWER STEERING FLUID ADDED AND WAS TO IT WAS A RECALL IN THREE POWER STEERING PUMP. I WOULD LIKE GM TO REPLACE MY POWER STREERING PUMP SO I CAN DRIVE MY CAN WITHOUT THE HELP OF MY BROTHER BECAUSE IT IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES IN THE PAST REGARDING ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS WITH THIS CAR. MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT EVEN WITH ME HAVING IT REPLACED TIME AFTER TIME. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS TESTS FOR MAINTENANCE OF THE CAR AND THEY HAVE COME BACK SAYING THE CAR IS FINE. ALTHOUGH WHEN I GO TO DRIVE IT, SOMEHOW A LIGHT COMES ON. EXAMPLES INCLUDE('ESC SYSTEM OFF' LIGHTS, 'SERVICE TRACTION' LIGHTS, 'TC' OFF. THE MAIN ISSUE THAT I AM REPORTING JUST OCCURRED TWO DAYS AGO. I WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE WALMART PARKING LOT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AND THE LIGHT ON MY CAR APPEARED 'POWER STEERING OFF SERVICE ESC' MY STEERING WHEEL THEN STIFFENED UP AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE MAIN ROAD. THERE WAS A CAR TURNING RIGHT INFRONT OF ME THAT I ALMOST HIT, BECAUSE I LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING WHEEL. I THEN TOOK MY CAR INTO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD NOT FIX BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AND I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT INTO A PONTIAC OR A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING BEING ELECTRICAL IS NOT SAFE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THIS MODEL AS WELL. I USE MY CAR TO COMMUTE TO SCHOOL AND WORK EVERYDAY AND THIS PROBLEM POSES AS NOT ONLY A SAFETY RISK BUT A INCONVENIENCE TO MY EVERYDAY LIFE. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM WITH PONTIACS AND I HAVE NOTICED IT'S A REOCCURRING ISSUE, THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD TO CUSTOMERS WITH ALL OF THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. I HAVE TO NOW PAY OUT OF POCKET TO NOT ONLY HAVE THIS CAR FIXED BUT ALSO FOR A RENTAL CAR IN THE MEAN TIME. THIS IS NOT FAIR FOR ME AS A CUSTOMER OF PONTIAC AND I WOULD LIKE ACTION TO BE TAKEN. AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND OTHER TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THERE IS ALREADY A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. RESTARTING THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES 'FIX' THE ISSUE FOR A WHILE, BUT USUALLY AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES POWER STEERING WILL BE LOST. THE ISSUE HAS BECOME CONSTANT. TCM WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED DUE TO SIMILAR ISSUES, BUT THIS WAS ONLY 3 YEARS AGO. STEERING WHEEL ALSO CONSTANTLY SHAKES WHILE IN PARK OR DRIVING.
STEERING LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING EVERY OTHER DAY SO I AVOID THE HIGHWAY IN FEAR OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IF THIS WAS TO HAPPEN. VERY HARD TO CONTROL / STEER THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN START THE CAR AGAIN TO UNLOCK THE STEERING. NOW A WARNING CHIME CONSTANTLY BEEPS WHILE DRIVING AND ONLY STOPS THEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP.
THE AIR BAGS LIKE SAY SERVICE BUT NO ONE SEE WHAT'S WRONG, THE FUEL CAR WILL NOT CRANK AFTER GAS IS PUT IN. IT ASK TO CHECK GAS CAP EVEN PUT NEW CAP ON AND STI NOT WORKING

THE CONTACT CALLED DAVIDSON CHEVROLET BUICK GMC OF ROME AT 315-337-2440 (LOCATED AT 5871 ROME-TABERG RD, ROME, NY 13440) AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,119.
STEERING PUMP STOPED WORKING ON THIS MODEL WHEN DIVING
I'M HEARING A INCREASINGLY LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AND FEELING EXCESSIVE SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT OF THE CAR.
STEERING PUMP CONTINUED PROBLEMS. WASN'T MADE AWARE AS AN OWNER THAT THERE WAS SPECIAL COVERAGE TO REPLACE THESE AT MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE. IT CAUSE THE MODULAR TO MAKE IT NOT RESPOND TO STEERING. AS A CUSTOMER WE HAVE FIXED IT TWICE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT THE CAR HAD STEERING. DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE WE WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THAT AS OWNERS LIKE YOU DO WITH YOUR RECALLS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT WILL BE MY EXPENSE @ 900$. THAT STEERING COVERAGE FOR THE RAN OUT AT 150,000 MILES. IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. AND CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER 900 TO FIX. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE ON SOMETHING THAT'S SAFETY. IT BROKE AGAIN WHILE TRANSPORTING MY GRANDCHILDREN. AGAIN, THIS COVERAGE TO FIX IT WAS NOT BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION UNTIL COVERAGE RAN OUT AT 150,000 MILES. YOU FIXED THE OTHER 4 MANUFACTURERS RECALLS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY MADE THE CONSUMER AWARE, EXCEPT WITH THIS STEERING SAFETY (COVERAGE) . IT PUT MY FAMILY AT HUGE SAFETY RISK. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED THAT YOU'RE NOT FIXING IT. DISAPPOINTED THAT YOU DIDN'T SEND ANY NOTICE OF THE SAFETY RECALL OR COVERAGE (YOUR WORDS) BEFORE NOW OR EVER, WE HAD TO GET IT FROM THE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP . SO I PICK UP A CAR AND DRIVE IT HOME THAT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND IS UNSAFE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD $900 AND YOUR COMPANY WILL NOT COVER IT! SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO A LIFELONG CHEVY CUSTOMER..
ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMEBER 31, 2018, THE FAMILY AND I WERE GETTING READY TO GO OUT WHEN WE NOTICED THE CAR WOULDN'T START AND ALL THE OUTSIDE LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON AND DIM. PRIOR TO THIS NIGHT, MY SPOUSE NOTICED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON AS WELL SO HE REMOVED THE FUSE AS A TEMPORARY FIX SO THAT I MAY GO TO WORK. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE RECALLS THAT I RECENTLY FOUND OUT ABOUT. IM UNCERTAIN OF THE EXACT CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ ABOUT THE RECALLSB I BELIEVE IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH EITHER THE IGNITION OR THE BRAKE PEDAL SHORTING OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR EVEN IN MOTION AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING LOCKS UP. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON IN ORDER FOR THE STEERING TO BE RELEASED. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE AS MINES, BUT MY VEHICLE BY VIN HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND GM SHOULD RECALL ALL VEHICLES TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. MY FIANCEE AND CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR AS SHE WAS BACKING UP WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP. ANOTHER TIME SHE WAS TURNING THE CORNER WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE WE CAN NOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS AND CAN NOT AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE.
WHEN DRIVING POWER STEERING GAVE OUT WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART AND WORKS AGAIN. TOOK TO DEALER TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE. FIRST TIME SAID IT WAS A RECALL NOW SAYING NOT RECALL BUT IS SAME ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL AND AT THE INTERSECTION THAT I TAKE EVERYDAY ON A BUSY ROAD (BOULEVARD). WHEN I TRIED TO TURN RIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CAR WENT STRAIGHT IN THE OPPOSITE LANE WHERE A SEMI TRUCK WAS COMING MY WAY. IF THE SEMI DIDN'T BRAKE FOR ME I WOULDN'T BE ALIVE TODAY. IT WAS ICY AND I SOMEHOW GOT MYSELF BACK IN MY LANE AFTER USING ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL. THIS WAS MY CLOSET TO DEATH EXPERIENCE TO THIS DAY AND I HAVE NOT BEEN IN THE CAR EVER SINCE THEN. THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE WINTER AND HAS NOT ONLY THREATENED MY SAFETY BUT HAS COST MY POCKET BOOK A LOT OF MONEY. I FIND IT SUSPICIOUS THAT THE PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR ELECTRONIC ASSIST POWER STEERING FAILURE YET MY 2009 WAS NOT AND IS EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME POWER STEERING OPTION. I'M HOPING YOU GUYS WANT TO MAKE IT RIGHT AS IT WOULD BE SIMPLER AND LESS DRAMA THAN A WRONGFUL DEATH LAW SUIT.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACING WITH LESS THAN 125, 000 MILES ON ENGINE. COULD NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE SO COULD NOT GET STATE INSPECTION TO PASS. HAS BEEN SITTING AND NOT DRIVEN SINCE MARCH 2019. BETWEEN DEC 2018 AND MARCH 2019, BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES FAILED. CAR DRIVER'S DOOR AND CONVERTIBLE TOP STOPPED WORKING. NEEDS APPROX. $3000 TO FIX WHICH I DON'T HAVE BUT STILL PAYING $261./ MONTHLY PAYMENTS AND CANNOT DRIVE. FINANCE COMPANY SAYS THEY WILL NOT LET ME DO VOLUNTARY REPO. I AM RETIRED ON FIXED INCOME. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. CANNOT EVEN SELL BECAUSE I OWE $7000 ON IT AND NOT WORTH HALF THAT. WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A CAR THAT ONLY SITS IN DRIVEWAY?
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP AND THE POWER STEERING NOTIFICATION WILL APPEAR. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL UNLOCK. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME STATIONARY AND IN TURNING THE WHEEL TO TURN AND IN DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED EVERY WHERE BUT THE FREEWAY/ HIGHWAY.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT A FEW MINUTES UPON DRIVING AND THE WHEEL BECOMES HARD TO TURN. SOMETIMES IT WILL RETURN FOR A BRIEF MOMENT WHEN STARTING THE CAR. ALSO THE WINDOW WASHER PUMP IS FAULTY CAUSING NO FLUID TO COME OUT WHEN PRESSED, WHICH COULD LEAD TO VISIBILITY PROBLEMS IN WINTER WITH ALL THE SAND AND SALT ON THE ROADS

MY PONTIAC G6 2009 HAS A POWER STEERING RECALL BUT THEY WONT FIX IT BECAUSE IT DOESNT COME IN AS A RECALL WHEN THEY TYPE IN MY VIN BUT IV READ ABOUT THE RECALL, EVERY TIME IT GETS COLD MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT, DOESNT MATTER IF IM ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR JUST STARTED MY CAR IT RANDOMLY WILL GO OUT, I HAVE A ELECTRIC MOTOR SO I KNOW IM NOT JUST OUT OF FLUID, IT DOESNT HAPPEN IN THE SUMMER TIME ONLY WINTER WHEN IT GETS COLD. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTAL STREET, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP & A NOTIFICATION CAME ACROSS MY DASHBOARD ADVISING ME "POWER STEERING". I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER & WAS UNSURE WHAT TO DO. I TURNED MY CAR OFF & BACK ON, BUT THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT. I TURNED MY CAR OFF & ON AGAIN, THIS TIME TURNING THE WHEEL AS I TURNED THE KEY, & IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF ME STARTING TO DRIVE, THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AGAIN.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2009 PONTIAC G6 HAS AN WAVE PLATE ISSUE WITH NO 3-5-R GEARS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GM ISSUED A SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THAT DEALERS DO NOT WANT TO REPAIR.
"TAKATA RECALL" POWER STEERING SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. AS I WAS DRIVING MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. TOOK ALL MY POWER TO TURN THE WHEEL TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I NOTICED THAT AFTER WAITING A WHILE THE POWER STEERING WAS ABLE TO MOVE FREELY. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND HAVE THE PROBLEM HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT IS WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER (PINE BELT CHEVROLET, 7300 US-98, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402, (601)-264-8500) WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

"AIR BAG FAULT" MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED IN THE INFO CENTER ON THE DASH AND AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED ON MY 2009 PONTIAC G8 GT. CODES U0170 AND B0081 WERE READ AT DEALERSHIP. PARTS #92225595 (MODULE) AND #92220398 (SENSOR) ARE REQUIRED AT AN INSTALLED COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1100. ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. RESEARCH OF NHTSA COMPLAINTS INDICATES THIS IS A VERY COMMON MALFUNCTION ON THE PONTIAC G8 AND THERE HAVE BEEN SOME ACCIDENTS. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS WARNING MESSAGE AND THE USE OF THE CAR HAS BEEN LIMITED KNOWING THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT BE DEPLOYED IN AN ACCIDENT. I NOTICED THAT THE PART NUMBER HAS CHANGED TO A HIGHER/DIFFERENT NUMBER THAN THE ORIGINAL MODULE PART NUMBER. THIS INDICATES THAT NOT ONLY DOES GM KNOW WHICH PART TO REPLACE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE, BUT THEY CREATED A NEW AND UPDATED MODULE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE; WHICH MEANS THAT GM DID ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE ORIGINAL MODULE WAS A FAULTY PART. WHY WASN'T A RECALL ISSUED? AIR BAG NOT FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I SEE ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-NINE NHTSA COMPLAINTS FOR THE PONTIAC G8 AIR BAG MODULE, SURELY THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR OTHER GM VEHICLES WHICH USE THE SAME PART AND HUNDREDS MORE CASES THAT WERE NEVER REPORTED. MANY OF THE PONTIAC G8 MODELS HAVE PASSED ON TO YOUNGER DRIVERS NOW, MAYBE YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER. THESE YOUNGER DRIVERS MAY NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES ($1K) TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THERE WILL BE MORE ACCIDENTS AND PEOPLE WILL DIE, HOW MANY DOES IT TAKE TO GET GM TO ISSUE A RECALL?
2009 PONTIAC G6 - I WAS DRIVING MY USUAL ROUTE, ON SEVERAL CITY STREETS AND EVENTUALLY ON A HIGHWAY, ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN I WAS STOPPED IN MY OFFICE BY MY CO-WORKER. I WAS TOLD THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE DOING SOMETHING WEIRD AND CRAZY. SHE WENT ON TO SAY THAT AS SHE WAS BEHIND ME, THAT I MUST HAVE BEEN RIDING MY BRAKES ALL THE WAY UNTIL I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND STOPPED. MY BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF WHILE APPLYING THEM COMING TO A STOP THEN BACK ON WHEN DRIVING. SO BASICALLY WHILE DRIVING, MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON CONSTANTLY AND WHEN I APPLY THEM, COMING TO A STOP, THEY COME OFF. I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS GOING ON WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS AND I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. I DRIVE 30 MINUTES / 30 MILES (ONE WAY) TO AND FROM WORK EACH DAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I ALSO HAVING ISSUES WHILE DRIVING THE DASH LIGHTS ALL GO OUT AND THEN COME BACK ON, FEELS LIKE IT LOSES THE POWER STEERING AND THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL BUT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES THROUGH OUT THE DAY WHILE DRIVING. DASH LIGHTS, RADIO EVERYTHING GOES OFF, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON BUT NOT INSIDE.

AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND RECOMMENDED TAKING IT TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
