TAKATA RECALL SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT MY 2009 PONTIAC G6 THE WORDS POWER STEERING IN MY CAR POPS UP ON MY DASH WHICH LOCKS UP MY STEERING WHEEL AS I'M DRIVING THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES I'VE ALMOST GOT IN TO ACCIDENT LUCKILY I NEW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT COMPUTERS AND I FOUND A WAY TO DRIVE IT EVEN WITH THAT BAD MALFUNCTION WHICH I'LL HAVE TO TURN MY ENGINE OFF REPOSITION MY STEERING WHEEL AND TURN IT BACK ON I CALL IT RESET BASICALLY THIS KINDA TELLS THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR THAT IT'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING AND ONCE I TOOK IT TO GET CHECK OUT THEY SAID THAT IT WAS FINE THAT I SHOULD BE OK WELL THAT WAS A LIE I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY PONTIAC G6 2009 I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND MY CHILDREN SAFETY I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND IF THIS DOESN'T GET LOOKED INTO SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT REAL BAD ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY I STOP DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE WORD POWER STEERING WILL POP UP ON MY DASH AND I CANT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL BARELY
MY 2009 PONTIAC G6 GT HAS STRONG SMELL OF GAS WHILE SITTING IN THE GARAGE. PONTIAC HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM, DIFFERENT YEARS. CUSTOMERS HAVE FOUND PLASTIC HOSE ON TOP OF GAS TANK CRACKED AND LEAKING GAS ON TOP OF TANK. VERY DANGEROUS! THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS RECALL REPAIR!
GERALD HORNE A & A AUTOMOTIVE 1620 STATE ST. FLORENCE, AL 35630 CONFIDENTIAL THIS MAN SOLD ME A 2009 PONTIAC G6 GXP THAT HE BOUGHT AT AN AUCTION THAT HAD BEEN WRECKED ON JULY 17, 2017 FOR $6,000. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD 'FIX EVERYTHING THAT NEEDED FIXING ON THE CAR TO MAKE IT DRIVABLE AND ACCEPTABLE BEFORE I BOUGHT IT,' EVEN SAYING HE WOULD 'PROVIDE AN OIL CHANGE.' ON JULY 17, 2017, HE DELIVERED CAR TO MY HOME. CAR 'LOOKED' PRETTY GOOD EXCEPT FOR THE TWO BACK 'CHROME' (HE'D TOLD ME 'CHROME' BUT THEY ARE PLASTIC) RIMS. THEY WERE SCRATCHED REALLY BAD. MY GRANDSON CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS QUITE LOW, DIRTY, AND DARK. I CONTACTED MR. HORNE AND TOLD HIM I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SCRATCHED RIMS AND THAT HE NEEDED TO PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE HE HAD PROMISED. HE SAID HE WOULD REPLACE THE RIMS AND PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE. HE PICKED UP THE CAR THAT DAY OR THE NEXT DAY, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN JULY 18, 2017. ON JULY 20, 2017, HE DELIVERED THE CAR TO THE FLORENCE, AL YMCA WHERE MY GRANDSON WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL AND MY GRANDSON DROVE THE CAR TO OUR HOME, WHICH IS CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN FLORENCE. [THE RIMS WERE STILL THE SAME. HE SAID HE COULD NOT FIND ANY MORE USED RIMS AND WOULD HAVE TO ORDER NEW ONES. I TOLD HIM OK. HE HAS YET TO PROVIDE THOSE NEW RIMS.] WE DID NOT CHECK THE OIL AT THIS TIME, AS HORNE HAD GIVEN HIS WORD THE OIL WAS CHANGED AT THIS TIME, BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF THE OIL WAS CHANGED OR NOT, AS HE SAID IT WAS. REMEMBER, UPON INITIAL DELIVERY, OIL WAS CHECKED AND WAS QUITE LOW, DARK, AND VERY DIRTY. GRANDSON THEN DROVE CAR WITH ME IN IT TO A GAS STATION DOWNTOWN SO I COULD FILL UP GAS TANK. HE THEN DROVE CAR TO OUR HOME. AROUND 5:00 P.M., HE DROVE CAR TO THE FLORENCE MALL. HE LEFT MALL AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00 P.M. DRIVING HOME, ENGINE BLEW, NO FAULT OF GRANDSON, ALMOST GOT HIM KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, HE HAD TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING LANE.
POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT WHEN IT RAINS STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK, SEVERAL ELECTRIC ISSUES, TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS BROKEN, ONLY WORKS WHEN OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 85 CAUSE AC TO BLOW HOT AIR. WHEN SENORS GETS STUCK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON
I HAVE A 2009 PONTIAC G6 GXP 4 DOOR SEDAN. MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH OF THIS YEAR 2017. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR USED. THE CAR DROVE SMOOTH EVEN THOUGH IT HAD 127,000 MILES. THE ONLY THING WE DIDN'T CHECK WAS THE DRIVER FRONT SEAT. WHEN I TRIED ADJUSTING MY SEAT UPWARD THE SEAT BEGINS TO LEAN SIDE WAYS TOWARDS THE MIDDLE CONSOLE TO THE POINT ITS RUBBING ON IT. I TOOK IT TO THE GM DEALER THEY LOOK AT IT AND TOLD ME THAT THE MAIN METAL BAR FRAME IS BROKEN. THAT I NEEDED A NEW REPLACEMENT SEAT. THEY QUOTED ME $1000. I CONTACTED PONTIAC AND THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS IT. BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ME. I CAN'T AFFORD THE $1000 FOR A NEW SEAT.
I HAVE 2009 PONTIAC G6 WHERE MY CRUISE WAS KICKING OFF COME TO FIND OUT THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT COME ON WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BRAKE PETAL. THE BRAKE LIGHT JUST STAY ON UNTIL I PUSH THE PETAL AND RELEASE IT THEN THERE OFF FOR FEW SECONDS AND POP BACK ON.
AFTER PARKING MY CAR I SMELL A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL FOR SEVERAL HOURS SO I CAN NOT PARK MY CAR IN MY ATTACHED GARAGE BECAUSE IT MAKES MY WHOLE HOUSE SMELL LIKE GAS. IT STARTED IN OUR OVER 100 DEGREE SUMMER WEATHER AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY. IT ALSO STARTS HARD AFTER IT HAS SAT FOR SOME HOURS. I AM AFRAID IT COULD START A FIRE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR!!! I SEE THE 2009 G5 HAS A RECALL FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME ISSUE. A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP MODULE (A CRACK) BUT I DO NOT SEE ONE FOR THE G6. IN AN ARTICLE JEFF BOYER STATES HE WANTS GM CUSTOMERS TO HAVE COMPLETE PEACE OF MIND. WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE WITH MY G6 - 4 CYLINDER.
HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING; HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS, CLEANED THE WIRES. THEY WORK FOR FEW WEEKS AND THEN WON'T COME ON. IN DOING A SEARCH ON LINE, I SEE PAGES AND PAGES OF SIMILAR COMPLAINT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SO FAR IT HAS BEEN ONE HEADLIGHT OUT AT A TIME, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY DO BOTH NOT WORK. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER, BUT DON'T EXPECT THEY WILL KEEP LETTING ME GO WITHOUT ISSUING ME A TICKET WHEN I TELL THEM IT'S BEEN IN FOR REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES.
TEMPERATURE GAUGE STAYS AT 0 WHEN IT IS BELOW 80 DEGREES OUTSIDE, AND WHEN TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS AT 0 DEGREES THE A/C WILL NOT BLOW COLD AIR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT NOT ABOVE OPERATING TEMPERATURE WHEN I SCAN IT.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS GOTTEN OVERHEATED TO THE POINT WHERE THE PLASTIC HAS MELTED AWAY CAUSING THE LIGHT TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING. I REPLACED THIS SOCKET MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I HAVE ALSO MADE SURE THAT ALL GROUNDING POINTS WERE CLEAR AND WORKING PROPERLY, WHICH THEY WERE ALL IN PERFECT CONDITION. THE DATE I HAVE PROVIDED IS THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IF YOU GO ONTO THE INTERNET AND DO A GOOGLE SEARCH IT COMES UP INSTANTLY WITH COUNTLESS ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. MY SISTER OWNS THE SAME VECHILE BUT IS A 2006 AND SHE HAS BEEN FIGHTING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH FATAL CONSEQUENCES SHOULD BOTH LIGHTS FAIL AT NIGHT.
I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY RIGHT FRONT LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT. I HAD IT CHANGED OUT AND IT STILL WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE BODY SHOP MAN THERE TOLD ME IT MAY BE A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND FOR ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE FRONT AND TALK TO THEM. THEY ARE WANTING TO CHARGE JUST TO SEE IF IT IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I CAME CLOSE ON GETTING PULLED OVER. THE ONLY REASON WHY I DIDN'T IS BECAUSE I HURRIED UP AND GOT OUT OF SIGHT.
POWER STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN DRIVING AND VEHICLE BECOMES UNTURNABLE UNTIL CAR IS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2009 G6 FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION AND PULLED ONTO A VERY BUSY ROAD. AFTER GOING ABOUT 200 FEET, THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT "PULLING". OTHER CARS CAME UP BEHIND ME VERY QUICKLY AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR ME TO PULL OVER, AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT HILL AHEAD OF ME. I "PLAYED" WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO TRY TO GET THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION TO CATCH, ALL THE WHILE CARS WERE PRACTICALLY PUSHING ME. THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT THAT I HAD PULED OUT AND WAS JUST DRIVING VERY SLOWLY. THEY STARTED TO HONK THEIR HORNS. THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION BUCKED AND BANGED AND I MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL, AND OVER TO A SPOT ALONG SIDE THE ROAD WHERE I COULD PULL OVER. THE COMPUTER HAD PUT UP TWO ERROR CODES OF P0776 (CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE 2 STUCK OFF), AND P0700 (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REQUESTED MIL ILLUMINATION). I DID A SEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS LIKELY WAS A FAILURE OF THE "3, 5, REVERSE PLATE" INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR AND TRANSMISSION. GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND HAS EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS FAILURE FOR 2007 TO 2009 PONTIAC G6'S FOR UP TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES. I PURCHASED MY CAR NEW ON 12/20/09, AND IT HAD 100,160 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CALLED GM (CASE #[XXX]) AND THEY CLAIMED THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAS A CODE OF MH8. THEY SAID ONLY TRANSMISSIONS WITH A BUILD CODE OF MH2, MH4, MH6, AND MY9 ARE COVERED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE IDENTICAL, BUT "MORE THAN LIKELY SOMEONE WAS KILLED WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURRED IN CARS WITH THOSE CODES, AND PROBABLY THIS WASN'T THE CASE FOR MY CODE". THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT SO THAT MY TRANSMISSION CODE COULD BE COVERED, AND GET REIMBURSED. I DID HAVE THIS FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE STATIONARY ON A HILL, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK WHILE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER, C & S CAPITAL CORPORATION IN KANSAS CITY, KS, WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 151,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIBRATION EMITTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK INDEPENDENTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL ASSIST INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,019.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). TWICE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT IN MY 09 PONTIAC G6. BOTH TIMES THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT HAS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE AND MAKING A TURN. I NOTICE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUED IN 2014, BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE PUMP IN FEBRUARY OF 2017, AND AM NOW ON APRIL 27 2017 HAVING TO TAKE IT BACK IN DUE TO POWER STEERING ISSUES. I AM UNCLEAR AS TO WHY THE 09 PONTIAC G6 POWER STEERING RECALL DID NOT EXTEND TO MY VIN NUMBER, BUT CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING THAT IS ABOVE AND BEYOND NORMAL WEAR FOR AN 8 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.
'STEARING ANGLE SENSOR RECALL' THERE IS A RECALL ON 2 DOOR MODELS AND NOT THE FOUR DOOR MODELS. THESE VEHICALS HAVE THE EXACT SAME PART ON THEM THAT GOES BAD. IS THERE NO SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ITS A FOUR DOOR. IF THE STEERING COMPONENT IS BAD IT DOSE NOT MATTER HOW MANY DOORS THE CAR HAS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY AND MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (PERRYSBURG AUTOMALL LOCATED ON 26875 N DIXIE HWY, PERRYSBURG, OH, 43551) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SOCKET WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000. UPDATED 08/22/17*LJ
I RECEIVED A BRAKE LIGHT RECALL IN THE MAIL. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS WORKING AND SOMETIMES NOT. THEY SOMETIMES COME ON WHEN I AM NOT BRAKING AND SOMETIMES DO NOT LIGHT UP WHEN I AM BRAKING. I CLEARLY HAVE THE PROBLEM NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I AM NOW TRYING TO FIND THE NOTICE THAT CAME IN THE MAIL. I HAVE MISPLACED IT, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME. I AM A LOW INCOME PERSON AND CANNOT AFFORD THE EXPENSE OF HAVING THIS REPAIRED AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SINCE I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT.
I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP SOCKET TWICE. BOTH TIMES IT SHOWED SIGNS OF IT BEING MELTED. PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMPS WORK, SOMETIMES IT REQUIRES A TAP ON THE LENS COVER TO GET THEM WORKING. PLAYING AROUND WITH HOW THEY SIT IN THE SOCKET WORKS, UNTIL THEY WIGGLE OUT AND NO LONGER WORK UNTIL YOU WIGGLE IT BACK IN, OR TAP THE LENS COVER. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF MY HEADLAMPS.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. DOES NOT WORK ABOUT ONCE OUT OF EVERY 4 TIME CAR IS STARTED. MUST SHUT OFF CAR AND RESTART TO HAVE STEERING WORK. SOMETIMES GOES OUT RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN CAR IS STOPPED OR IDLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT STOP LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A DING AND THEN A "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE RADIO SCREEN. I LOST POWER STEERING FOR ABOUT 1 MILE I DROVE. NORMAL POWER STEERING RESUMED WHEN I DROVE CAR SEVERAL HOURS LATER. DASH THERMOMETER AT TIME READ 16 DEGREES FARENHEIT
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE POWER STEERING ALERT HAD BEEN APPEARING SPARATICALLY ON INFO CONSOLE. I NEVER LOST POWER STEERING. AT MY DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT ITHERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AND THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT. FOUR AND A HALF HOURS LATER, THEY HAVE TAKEN MY STEERING COLUMN APART AND SAY THEY CANNOT PUT IT TOGETHER AGAIN UNTIL THEY HAVE A NEW PART FOR IT. THAT WAS FIVE DAYS AGO NOW AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY'VE REPLACED MY TORQUE SENSOR FIVE TIMES, BUT HAVN'T BEEN ABLE TO PROGRAM IT. SO NOW THEY'RE TELLING ME MY STEERING COLUMN IS BROKEN AND THAT I NEED TO SPEND $625 FOR A NEW ONE. MY STEERING COLUMN WAS NOT BROKEN WHEN I DROVE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WHAT I FIGURED WOULD BE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. IF THE TORQUE SENSOR (RECALLED) REQUIRES A NEW STEERING COLUMN IN ORDER TO BE PROGRAMMED, THEN THAT SHOULDN'T THAT REPLACEMENT BE COVERED BY THE RECALL FULFILLMENT?
VEHICLE STEERING STUTTERS,CLANKS,CLUNKS AND HAS BEEN IN DEALERSHIP FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR/MODULE ASSEMBLY AND SAID IT WAS COVERED BY GM,AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER DRIVING CAR IT STILL DID THE SAME THING,NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE US TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WE TOOK IT IN FOR TO BEGIN WITH. THE (ISS) INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED WITH FACTORY GM PART , WHICH WAS ALSO BAD WHEN 1ST TOOK IN BUT THEY DIDN'T POINT OUT. THIS HAS SO FAR BEEN A GREAT CAR AND NOW HAS OVER 144,000 MILES AND I REALIZE THERE ARE GONNA BE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MUCH MILEAGE , BUT THE STEERING ISSUE IS REALLY GETTING SCARY AND STILL NOT FIXED AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING PARTS THAT AREN'T FIXING IT. GM SHOULD'VE RECALLED THIS PROBLEM ON MY CAR AS THEY DID OTHERS AND FIXED IT WITH NO COST...
I HAVE HAD A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS, WHERE THE POWER STEERING, TRACTION CONTROL AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ALL ATOP WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE SOUGHT ASSISTANCE FROM GM. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE CAR ISN'T STORING A CODE. I HAVE PROVIDED THEM WITH PICTURES, BUT THEY CHOOSE NOT TO HELP. THE PROBLEM IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON OTHER YEARS OF THE PONTIAC G6. GM WEBSITE SAYS THEY FIX THE PROBLEM ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. PICTURE AND VIDEO PROOF MEAN NOTHING IF THE CAR ISN'T STORING A CODE. CODES FLASH ACROSS DISPLAY THAT SAY "CHECK POWER STEERING " "SERVICE TRACTION" "SERVICE ESC". ONLY WAY FOR ME TO CLEAR IS TO SHUT OFF CAR AND TURN BACK ON. ALL PEER STEERING IS LOST WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS. ALTHOUGH I'VE LISTED. ONLY ONE DATE, WHICH WAS THE MOST RECENT, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN 1/2014, TWICE IN 7/2014, 12/2016 AND IN 3/2017.
THE CLIPS THAT HOLD THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE HAVE COMPLETELY SNAPPED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN 4 CYL MODELS AND SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO 6 CYL MODELS. MY CAR WILL NOT GO IN TO PARK. IT WILL NOT START. YOU CAN ACTUALLY OPEN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SEE THAT THE LINKAGE HAS PLAY. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. I'M THANKFUL WE LIVE IN A FLAT AREA. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND SOMEONE WILL END UP HURT OR DEAD BECAUSE OF IT.
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN AROUND 2012 AND SINCE HAS HAD POWER STEERING ISSUES. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AT LEAST ONCE EVERY COUPLE MONTHS AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR WOULD BE SHUT OFF THEN TURNED BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. IN THE LAST TWO DAYS THE POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF EVERY FEW MILES WHILE IN MOTION ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. WOULD TURN CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND FEW MILES LATER THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THERE ARE OTHER RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF AND THE MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THIS ISSUE.

TURNED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED AND POWER STEERING BECAME OPERABLE AGAIN. GOT VEHICLE HOME AND NEXT DAY TRIED STARTING AND ALARM CAME BACK ON WITH NO POWER STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
THE POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING OUT WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN NOT ON THE HIGHWAY ( YET) BUT IN TOWN TURNING ON TO ROADS AND AND IN PARKING LOTS.
HEADLIGHTS DON'T WORK. THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT DOESN'T WORK - THE LEFT CUTS OUT. I'VE SEEN REPORTS THAT GM HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT WHEN I CALL THE DEALERSHIP OR GM SERVICE DIRECT THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. GM SERVICE HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I TOLD THE PERSON THAT IF THEY DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A THROTTLE BODY AND A HEADLIGHT THEY SHOULDN'T BE MANNING THE SERVICE LINE FOR GENERAL MOTORS.
SHIFT CABLE TAB BROKE CAUSING CAR TO BE STUCK IN DRIVE. 460000 WERE RECALLED BUT MY WAS NOT. THEY SAID IT IS BECAUSE I HAD A 3SPEED INSTEAD OF 4SPEED. THE PART IS THE SAME. DICK NORRIS BUICK SAID THEY KNEW ALL ABOUT THIS AND HAD SEVERAL REPAIR KITS ON HAND. ITHEY APPEARED TO BE ANNOYED BY RECALL WORK. WHEN STOPPING TO PARK AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK THE CAR STAYED IN DRIVE I CANNOT RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT MANUALLY MOVING THE SHIFTER UNDER THE HOOD. MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE INITIAL RECALL.

THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR KEEPS MAKING THE HEADLIGHT GO OUT MORE THEN IT STAYS ON....I THINK IT'S A POOR SETUP THE WAY IT IS CONNECTED IN THE CAR....WE HAVE REPLACED THE CONNECTOR SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE!
I STARTED THE CAR AS USUAL EVERY MORNING. I PUT THE SHIFT IN REVERSE AND BAGGED UP. I NOTICED IT MOVED A BIT TO FREELY BUT I PROCEEDED TO BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT IN DRIVE TO GO FORWARD AND TAKE MY FEET OFF BREAKS IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. I HAD TO HIT THE BREAKS BECAUSE IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK AND HAD MY KIDS IN MY CAR. I THEN TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK AND IT WOULD NOT GO IT WOULD STILL ROLL. I THEN RECALLED THIS HAPPENING TO MY HUSBAND AND HAVING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SHIP TO GET FIXED WITH US PAYING ALMOST $400 AND APPARENTLY IT NOT BEING DONE CORRECTLY. MORE TO THE POINT. IT DID NOT MATTER WHAT GEAR THE CAR WAS IN IT WAS STUCK IN REVERSE AND I HAD TO STICK SOMETHING BEHIND IT TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING EVEN AFTER I GOT IT INTO A PARKING SPOT. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF IT WAS NO-LONGER ABLE TO CRANK AND OR SHIFT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OR SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ON THE CAR HAS FAILED NUMEROUS TIMES AND ILLUMINATED A MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY STATING "POWER STEERING". WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING ASSIST WHICH REQUIRES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF STRENGTH TO MANEUVER THE CAR. GM HAS RECALLED MANY OF THE OTHER VEHICLES AROUND THIS MODEL YEAR, BUT THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED VEHICLES.

WE HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS ALMOST 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS DUE TO WIRING 'BURNING' AND CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT. THE ACTUAL LIGHT BULBS THEMSELVES ARE FINE. IT IS THE CONNECTION TO THE BULB THAT IS THE PROBLEM. IT IS FIRST NOTICED WHEN STARTING THE CAR WHILE EVEN HAVING HEADLAMPS SET TO AUTOMATIC, THEY DO NOT LIGHT UP. SOMETIMES ONCE YOU START DRIVING, ONE LIGHTS UP WHILE THE OTHER REMAINS OUT. HIGH BEAMS, FOG LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS ARE FINE.

DEAR NHTSA; I OWN A 2009 PONTIAC G6 THAT WITHIN THE LAST WEEK INCURRED A POWER STEERING FAILURE. RECALL RESEARCH SHOWS THAT ON MARCH 2014 THE NHTSA REQUIRED GM TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IT ONLY COVERED THE G6 MODELS UP TO THE YEAR 2009 BUT NOT ALL 2009. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE "PROBLEM" WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THE STEERING PROBLEM FOR EARLIER MODELS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. HOWEVER, SINCE NOT ALL OF THE 2009 MODEL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA RECALL, THE COST TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FALLS TO THE CONSUMER AND IS ESTIMATED TO BE IN THE $1,800 TO $2,000 RANGE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND MIRRORS THE SAME CHARACTERISTIC'S AS EARLIER MODELS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I URGE THE NHTSA TO RE-VISIT THE MODEL YEARS SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE BURDENED WITH THE COST OF REPAIRING WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT. FURTHER AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IS SAFETY FOR THE PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I OWN A PONTIAC G6 2009 AND OVER THE LAST 9 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT GOING ON AND OFF WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATIONAL. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE GROUND IS SMOOTH OR ROUGH IT GOES ON AND OFF. I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL AS THE CONNECTOR AND THE HEADLIGHT STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG G6 OWNERS. MOST IMPORTANTLY IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
