TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE BEING REPLACED, IT WAS DETECTED THAT THE HEADLIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT AND MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,349. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND TURNING RIGHT DOWN ANOTHER STREET MY DIC FLASHED ERROR MESSAGE POWER STEERING. WHILE NOTHING HAS HAPPENED AS OF YET ON 12/26/2016, I HAVE LOOKED INTO THE RECALLS REGARDING ALL OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THE PONTIAC G6 WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ISSUE. IT CONCERNS ME DEEPLY. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE DRIVES IT TO WORK DAILY, TAKES OUR 17 YEAR OLD TO WORK, AND DRIVES OUR 4 AND 10 YEAR OLDS PLACES TOO. I'M FEARING FOR THERE LIVES KNOWING THAT AT ANY MOMENT THE POWER STEERING COULD GO OUT AND CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. WHILE KNOWING THAT ALMOST ALL OTHER G6'S ARE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL EXCEPT OURS IS VERY UPSETTING. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO TAKE THIS TO A GM DEALER FOR THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I'M NOT NECESSARILY LOOKING FOR FREE PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS ISSUE, BUT FOR THE SAFETY OF ME, MY FAMILY, OTHER G6 OWNERS NOT ON THE RECALL, AND OTHER MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD. THANK YOU. *TR
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF IN ORDER TO FIX IT. I HAD THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR REPLACED BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. WHILE RESEARCHING, I FOUND A RECALL ON THIS VERY ISSUE ALTHOUGH IT DOES NOT COME UP WHEN I PUT IN MY VEHICLE'S VIN NUMBER. IT IS RECALL NHTSA # 14V153000. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN GET THIS ISSUE FIXED UNDER THIS RECALL. I AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING MY CAR AS THERE IS NO WARNING OF WHEN THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IS GOING TO HAPPEN. *TR
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. STOPPING THE CAR, TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING GOT IT TO WORK AGAIN TEMPORARILY, BUT IT WOULD CONTINUE TO STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT (WHILE OPERATING IN LOW BEAM) FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A PONTIAC DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
POWER STEERING QUIT WITHOUT WARNING. HAD JUST STOPPED THANKFULLY

THE WARNING INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,226.

I PUT IN A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY G6 JUST THE OTHER DAY AND THE POWER STEERING FLUCTUATING ON AND OFF AND MY STEERING WHEEL MOVING UNCONTROLLABLY WHILE IN IDLE. I STATED HOW I HAVE AN 18 MONTH OLD AND HATE DRIVING WITH HER IN THE CAR BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS NO MORE POWER STEERING ASSIST. FORTUNATELY I WASN'T ON CURVE OR HAD TO TURN ANYTIME SOON. BEING A PETITE WOMAN, I BARELY HAD ENOUGH STRENGTH TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR MY HUSBAND TO SHOW UP AND DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I'M FORTUNATE THAT I WAS ON A ROAD THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHY IS MY CAR NOT ON A RECALL LIST? I WANT THIS FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO AVOID AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO A DITCH AND ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
POWER STEERING WARNING BEGAN COMING ON A FEW MONTHS AGO ON THE DISPLAY. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED TO GET THE WARNING TO GO AWAY AND THE WHEEL TO TURN. SOMETIMES IT TOOK MORE THAN ONE ATTEMPT. AT ONE POINT IT TOOK HALF AN HOUR OF RESTARTING THE CAR TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK. I NOTICED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN IDLE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE. ONE DAY, THE PROBLEM JUST WENT AWAY. WELL, THE OTHER DAY, THIS STARTED AGAIN, ONLY IT'S BEEN MUCH WORSE.. THE CAR HAS TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES. IN IDLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO HARD THAT IT SHAKES THE WHOLE CAR.WHEN DRIVING, THE CAR NOW JERKS TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT BECAUSE OF THE SHAKING! I HAVE BEEN SO AFRAID THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT WHEN I'M DRIVING. I HAVE AN 18 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER THAT I HATE PUTTING INTO THE CAR BECAUSE IF IT DOES GO OUT AND I LOSE CONTROL, I DON'T WANT HER TO LOSE HER LIFE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BULB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I PURCHASED THE 2009 PONTIAC G6 IN 2011, SINCE THEN I'VE REPLACED THE PASSENGERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGH BULB A TOTAL OF 10 TIMES. I'VE HAD 2 PIG TAILS INSTALLED IN THE LAST 2 YEARS; NOW THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AS OF TODAY. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH PONTIAC G6 HEADLIGHTS SYSTEM. I'VE READ SERVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND THE TIRE LIGHT BOTH COME ON (NOT NECESSARILY AT THE SAME TIME) FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN CAR IS STARTED, THE CAR IS NOT MOVING AT THIS TIME. THERE IS ALSO A "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND SERVICE TIRE MONITOR" WARNING ON THE RADIO DISPLAY. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. ALSO, IF THE LIGHTS, ETC. DO NOT COME ON WHEN STARTED, THEY DO NOT COME ON WHILE DRIVING, ONLY AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS I UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, THE AIR BAGS AND POSSIBLY THE SEAT BELTS ARE DISABLED. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
A FRIEND FOLLOWING ME 09-21-2016 NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON CONSTANTLY. DRIVING HOME THAT NIGHT I COULD TELL THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON, UNLESS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE AND THEY WOULD GO OFF. ALSO CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FOR 09-27-2016. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED CAR WITH A BAD BRAKE SWITCH. CAR WAS REPAIRED AND PICKED UP ON 09-30-2016 (BRAKE SWITCH REPLACED) COST 194.81. DROVE THE CAR ON A 300 MILE TRIP ON 10-13-2016. TRACTION WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. ALSO CHECKED ON BRAKE LIGHTS AND NOW THEY STAY CONSTANTLY. TRACTION WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY ALSO NOW.. THE CAR DID GO ON FOR THE RECALL NOTICE BACK IN 2014. WE WERE NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. *TR
YESTERDAY, MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE BACKING THE CAR. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE POWER STEERING BEGAN WORKING. I CALLED PONTIAC IN REGARDS TO THE STEERING RECALL AND THEY STATED THAT MY VIN DID NOT INDICATE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE SAME ISSUE OTHER CARS SAME YEAR AS MINE HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR. IT WOULD BE AT MY EXPENSE TO CORRECT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT ISN'T EVERY MANUFACTURED 2009 PONTIAC G6 WITH EPS.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL COME ON WHEN I AM DRIVING AND WILL GO OFF WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. ALSO I WILL HAVE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON RANDOMLY. SAME ISSUES UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000. DEALERSHIP HAS DONE RECALL WORK FOR THIS TWICE THEY TOLD ME AND HAVE CHARGED ME FOR THE REPAIRS AND REPAIRS TO MY WARNING LIGHTS AS WELL AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY.

JUST PURCHASED A G6 AND SEVERAL RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR 2009.

WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING TURNS OFF. THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE IT IS STARTLING AND CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET VERY TIGHT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. THIS CAN OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. IT CONTINUES TO BE LIKE THIS UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. BUT OCCURS AGAIN AT DIFFERENT TIMES WITHOUT WARNING.
STRONG FUEL SMELL AND TAKES LONGER TO TURN OVER. PLASTIC HOSE ON TOP OF FUEL PUMP CRACKED REQUIRES ENTIRE FUEL PUMP TO BE REPLACED. SIMILAR ISSUE THAT REQUIRED RECALL OF PREVIOUS YEARS.

THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CRUISE CONTROL TO MALFUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I HAD POWER STEERING LOSE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEN IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF IT LIKE RESETS AND THEN IT'S FINE I ALSO HAD A FRIEND OF MINE TEXT ME AND TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE BACKWARDS WHEN I WHEN I WAS BREAKING THE LIGHTS WERE OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAVE ALSO ALWAYS NOTICED THAT MY CAR SHIFTS WEIRD SOMETIMES WHEN I'M PASSING IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE I CAN GET UP TO SPEED. I HAVE ALSO HAD TROUBLE WITH MY PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR. I BOUGHT MY CAR AND 2010 IT WAS ONLY A YEAR OLD WITH VERY FEW MILES. RIGHT NOW I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 81,000 MILES ON IT. WITH ALL OF MY INCIDENTS WITH THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKE LIGHTS I HAVE BEEN IN TOWN DRIVING ALL WERE IN MOTION. IN TOWN DRIVING HAS PROBABLY BEEN ABOUT 35 MILE AN HOUR I WOULD NEVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE OR HAVE ANY OF THESE ON THE HIGHWAY.
STRONG RAW FUEL ODOR AROUND AND INSIDE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY NEAR FUEL TANK. THE ODOR GETTING STRONGER EACH TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH IN LIGHT RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE BEING REPAIRED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES WERE REPLACED BECAUSE AN UNUSUAL NOISE WAS HEARD WHENEVER THE WIPERS WERE ACTIVATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. POWER STEERING GOES OUT EXP WHEN IT IS COLD. GOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING. IT MAKES THE CAR EXTREMELY HARD TO DRIVE. GM SAYS TOUGH LUCK DUE TO MY VIN. THE ISSUE A RECALL FOR PR BUT ONLY COVER A FRACTION OF THE CARS WITH PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS AND THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.

I HAVE A 2009 PONTIAC G6 GT 4D. IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED TO MY GIRLFRIEND VIN#[XXX]. DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL AND TECHNICAL PROBLEMS THIS CAR HAS GIVEN USE SO MUCH PROBLEMS. ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. WELL IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC LIGHT TURN ON AND I HAVE NOTES THAT THE BACK BRAKES WILL NOT TURN ON UNLESS MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO BE DRIVING ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. I'VE HAD CARS COME FROM AROUND US AND TELL US TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS IT QUIT EMBARRASSING. IT ENDED UP TO WHATEVER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IT HAD CAUSED THE CAR TO HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS TO WERE THE CAR WAS SAYING REDUCED ENGINE PROBLEMS WE HAVE SPEND LOTS OF MONEY TRYING TO GET THIS CAR RUNNING BUT IF SOMETHING WAS FIXED SOMETHING ELSE WENT WRONG I HAVE CHANGE THE COMPUTER THAT COST A LOT OF MONEY IT HAS GOT TO THE POINT NOW THAT THE CARS CADILLAC CONVERTER, AND FUEL INJECTORS HAVE GONE OUT. I'VE PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MAY2016. I NOTICE ALIGNMENT AND SUSPENSION ISSUE RIGHT AWAY. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD FIX DRIFTING PROBLEMS I GOT IT IN RIGHTING. I'VE HAD SIX ALIGNMENT. I DRIVE TERRIFIED EVERYDAY. NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHY CAR JUST DON'T DRIVE STRAIGHT. THE CAR STEERING SEEMS LIKE IT DON'T MATCH UP WITH MY TURNS. HAVE A GAS ODOR COMING FROM MY CAR. WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR IN THE MORNING IT CRANKS SLIGHTLY LONGER BUT IF I JUST TURN THE KEY ON AND WAIT A FEW SECONDS IT SEEMS TO BUILD UP FUEL PRESSURE AND CRANKS RIGHT UP.
ON 4/19/2016 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT AROUND 35MPH IT STARTED TO DRIFT LEFT AND WHEN TRIED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION THE STEERING WAS UNRESPONSIVE AS IF LOCKED UP CAUSING A COLLISION WITH AN ON COMING VEHICLE. THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON A TWO LANE STRAIGHT CITY STREET ON A CLEAR DAY AND NEARLY WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT RECEIVED MOST OF THE DAMAGE. WINDOWS SHATTERED AND AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY.

WE LOST POWER STEERING ON MY CAR . WE HAVE REPLACED THE ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR AND THE TORQUE SENSOR . STILL NO LUCK STILL AT THE SHOP AND THEIR NOT SURE WHAT ELSE TO DO .WE ALSO CONTACTED GM AND THEY GAVE US NO HELP JUST THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO FOR US.
STRONG GASOLINE SMELL FROM THE CAR AFTER DRIVING. SUSPECT THE FUEL HOSE OR FITTING FROM THE FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING GASOLINE ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK. THE FUEL PUMP CONNECTOR IS RIGHT NEXT TO IT AND IT COULD IGNITE THE GASOLINE!

LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES THE LEFT AND SOMETIMES THE RIGHT. WHEN I START THE CAR HEADLIGHTS WONT COME ON I HAVE TO TAP ON THE HEADLIGHT LENS TO GET THEM TO COME ON, HAVE REPLACED BULBS AND STILL HAPPENS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER G6 OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE LIGHTS GO OUT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, MOST NOTABLY IN THE TRUNK. ONLINE SEARCHES HAVE NOTED THAT IT IS LIKELY A CRACKED ELBOW ON THE FUEL PUMP MODULE THAT FEEDS THE FUEL LINES. ODOR HAS STEADILY INCREASED OVER THE PAST MONTH.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING. ONCE I TURN OFF THE CAR THE ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST RESETS AND THE POWER STEERING IS FINE FOR AWHILE WHILE DRIVING. THEN IT GOES OUT AGAIN.... AND IT OCCURS A MAJORITY OF THE TIME WHILE TURNING. GM SAYS THE RECALL IS VIN NUMBER SPECIFIC. I HAVE THE RIGHT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. BUT, MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT BRING UP A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING. IT IS THE SAME AND A MOST DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT OTHER 2009 PONTIAC G6'S HAVE. WHAT IF MY SON, WHO IS LEARNING TO DRIVE WITH HIS PERMIT, WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL AT THE TIME? I THINK GM NEEDS TO LOOK INTO ADDING A FEW MORE VIN NUMBERS TO THEIR RECALL LIST. I BELIEVE THAT READING OTHERS POSTS PRIOR TO MINE SHOWS THIS ALSO... MY CAR HAS NOW ALSO LOST POWER STEERING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION (LOSS OF POWER STEERING FIRST OCCURRED THIS YEAR)THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT, EVEN WHEN THE BULBS ARE BRAND NEW (THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR TWO YEARS NOW). WHEN I SMACK THE HEADLIGHTS, THEY COME BACK ON. I DO NOT ALWAYS FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR.
