PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH IT'S ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE AT GEARSHIFT. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BEING CHANGED ALOT OF UNUSUAL METAL SHAVINGS WERE FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PAN. *NLM
MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE 6-5-03. GENERAL MOTORS SENT AN INVESTIGATOR OUT. ON 7-2-03 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM GM. THEY TOLD ME THE REPORT WAS MY PROBLEM THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILTY FOR THE FIRE. I DROVE MY CAR APROX. 15 MILES THAT MORNING TO MY KIDS DAYCARE. I PULLED UP TO THE FRONT OF THE DAYCARE AND CUT THE CAR OFF AND IT STARTED SMOKING AND FLAMES CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS MELTED NO BRAKE LINES, FUEL LINE OR WIRES. I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO THE CAR BUT CHANGE THE OIL. THE OIL WAS LAST CHANGED APROX. TWO MONTHS BEFORE THAT. CARS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO JUST CATCH FIRE. I PUT MY KIDS AND A DAYCARE FULL OF KIDS IN JEOPARDY THAT DAY. JUST TO ADD A LITTLE TO MY COMPLAINT. I HAVE LEFT ABOUT 6 MESSAGES SINCE JULY 3 FOR THE GM REP, KEVIN DREW, TO CALL ME WITHOUT SUCCESS. WHEN I PURCHASED MY CAR IT ONLY HAD 51,000 MILES. I HAD TROUBLE WITH BILL HEARD DEALERSHIP FROM DAY I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT IT HAD PROBLEMS. IT TOOK 4 MONTHS (1) THE PISTONS WAS MAKING AWFUL NOISE. (2) THE SECURITY LIGHT WAS FLASHING (3) THE CIG. LIGHTER HAD A BURNING SMELL WHEN PUSHED IN. I HAVE A COPY OF THE COMPLAINTS , FINDINGS AND ACTION TAKEN ON A SERVICE REPORT PROVIDED BY BILL HEARD. IN THAT REPORT IT STATES THAT THEY FOUND BURNT AND MELTED WIRE THEY REMOVED THE WIRING HARNESS AND REPLACED WIRES. I LEFT A MESSAGE FOR KEVIN DREW ASKING HIM TO CALL ME BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE WIRE GOING TO THE FUSE BOX WAS MELTED. EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS MELTED NO WIRES, BRAKE LINE OR FUEL LINE EXIST ANYMORE. THE REGION OF THE FIRE IS THE AREA OF ALL THE WIRES, COMPUTER BOX ETC. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOOD AT THE CENTER UP TOWARD THE TOP CLOSE TO THE WINDSHIELD.. THIS HAPPENED AT A DAYCARE. I WAS PARKED NO MORE THAN 3 FEET FROM THE BUILDING.
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH WATER LEAKING ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE HEATER RESISTOR AND THE BLOWER. BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE IN THE STREET VEHICLE WAS IN PARK ED AND THE KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD, BLACK SMOKE, AND LARGE FLAMES. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
LEFT & RIGHT BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. NOT A BULB OR FUSE ISSUE.*AK
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THE MOTORS FOR MY WINDOWS (ONE OF THEM IN A REAR WINDOW WHICH IS NEVER EVEN USED!). I WORK WITH 5 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD AT LEAST TWO-FOUR MOTORS GO OUT ON THEIR PONTIACS ALSO. THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH PONTIAC AND HAS CAUSED ME TO RECONSIDER BUYING A NEW GRAND PRIX.

FAILURE OF FOURTH GEAR/OVERDRIVE AT 44,000 MILES. REQUIRED REBUILT TRANSMISSION. *TT
HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET WITH ONLY 62000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY TAKEN CARE OF! COST $870 TO REPAIR SO FAR AND STILL ISN'T RUNNING RIGHT. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WHO HAS NO EXTRA MONEY LAYING AROUND TO HAVE SUCH MASSIVE REPAIR WORK ON SUCH A NEW CAR!. *JB
THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. *MR *TT *JB
FIRST I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. STEPPING ON THE BREAKE SHOULD ALLOW THE LEVER ON THE SHIFT LEVER TO DEPRESS ALLOWING ME TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AT FIRST. NEXT, CAME THE KEY PROBLEM WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO. I COULD NOT TURN THE KEY BACK TO IT'S HOME POSITION IN ORDER TO TAKE IT OUT. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT I COULD STICK A PEN OR OTHER POINTED OBJECT UP UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN TO REALEASE THE KEY. I ALSO NEED TO DEPRESS THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE NEXT TO THE SHIFT LEVER IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. WITHIN 3-4 WEEKS THIS PROBLEM WENT FROM INTERMITTENT TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME NOW. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE OF OTHER GRAND PRIX OWNERS WHO REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GRAND PRIX NOW FOR FEAR OF THE NEWER MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
LOWER DOOR MOLDING COMING LOOSE AND CHRISTMAS CLAMPS WARPED ON INSIDE DOOR PANELS OF ALL 4 DOORS. *LA
PUT CAR IN REVERSE AND DID NOT MOVE. SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. PUT IN REVERSE AGAIN, LOUD CLUNK, AND GRINDING. REMOVED PAN AND DRAINED FLUID. CHUNKS OF METAL IN PAN. 60,500 MILES. *TT
THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. *JB
MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS GOING OUT AT 71,000 MILES. MY GAS MILEAGE IS HORRIBLE AND THIS HAS TO BE REPLACED.*JB
I HAD MY WIRING HARNESS CATCH FIRE ON 2-2-03 WITHOUT WARNING. GM INSPECTING AND I AM STILL WAITING ON THEIR REPORT. HOWEVER, AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR FROM REPAIRS ON 2-15-03, I DROVE THE CAR 2-15 AND 2-16 AND TO WORK ON 2-17. UPON RETURNING TO MY CAR TO START IT, IT WOULD START AND THEN DIE IMMEDIATELY. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR MOVED TO THE DEALER. NO WARNINGS, NO PROBLEMS, NO LIGHTS TO TELL ME WHAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM.
3 OUT OF 4 WINDOWS DO NOT OPERATE ON A 4YR OLD CAR BECAUSE A LITTLE PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP BROKE ON EACH WINDOW LEAVING THE WINDOW UN OPERABLE. THE DRIVER WINDOW ,THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW AND THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW. *JB
I HAVE A PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CONTINOUSLY COMES ON. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PUT THE CAR ON THE COMPUTER AND SAID THAT THE WIRES TO THE HARNESS WERE BROKEN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE WIRES TO THE HARNESS COULD BE BROKEN BECAUSE IN ORDER TO GET TO THE WIRES YOU MUST TAKE OFF THREE PARTS.THEY ALSO TOLD ME I HAD A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AT THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE GASKET AND CHARGED ME $270 PLUS $50 FOR PARTS AND PAYED $360 FOR THE LABOR FOR THE WIRES OF THE HARNESS. THE LIGHT TURNED OFF, THEN THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT REAPPEARED. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SAME CODE CAME UP WHEN IT WAS PLACED BACK ON THE COMPUTER (R442), ON THAT DAY THEY SAID THE GAS CAP WAS LEAKING AND HAD TO BE CHANGED. AT THAT MOMENT THE LIGHT WENT OFF! THEN THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON ONCE AGAIN!!! NOW THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME CODE (R442) THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IF THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS IF THEY CAN'T EVEN FIND THE PROBLEM. THE WILL NOT HELP ME AND SINCE THESE PROBLEMS OCCURED RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE WORK THEY THAT DO, EVEN IF THEY JUST PUT THE CAR ON THE COMPUTER. $90 AN HOUR! I'VE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE REPEATEDLY AND SAY THAT CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT WORK WITH ME! THEY ARE ALSO FINDING A TRANSMISSION CODE 1811 THEY SAY THEY DON'T FIX TRANSMISSIONS!! WHAT DO I DO??? THE LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AND I'M WORRIED FOR MY SAFTEY! PLEASE HELP!
THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL.*JB
I HAVE A 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE JUST SPENT $726 ON BRAKES AND ROTORS ALL THE WAY AROUND. I CAN UNDERSTAND THE PADS NEEDING REPLACING, BUT WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE ROTORS SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER.
A FIRE AROUND THE IGNITION COIL BEGAN IN MY CAR WITH NO WARNING. NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN COMPLETED AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE. THE FIRE ERRUPTED QUICKLY. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THERE IS SOME ISSUE OR THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME WARNING THAT A PROBLEM WAS PRESENT IF THIS WAS DUE TO "WEAR AND TEAR". IT SEEMS UNLIKELY THIS WOULD BE A WEAR AND TEAR PROBLEM AS NO PROBLEMS OR INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBLEMS WERE EXISTENT PRIOR TO THIS FIRE.
I OWN A 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, IT SUFFERED A COOLANT LEAK IN THE UPPER MANIFOLD SECTION. AFTER SOME RESEARCH LOCALLY AND FROM PERSONAL FAMILY EXPERIENCE. I BELIEVE SOME PONTIAC V6 SUFFERS FROM EITHER DEFECTIVE GASKETS AND OR FAULTY ASSEMBLY THAT CAUSE A LEAK TO DEVELOP AFTER 2-3 YEARS OF USEAGE WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A NEW CAR PURCHASE AND PONTIAC OFFERING NO SERVICE BULLETINS/RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. OUR FAMILY HAS SUFFERED 4 SUCH FAILURES INCLUDING 2- GRANDPRIX'S (1999 & 2000 MODELS) , GRAND AM (1997), SUNFIRE (1997) AMONG NUMEROUS OTHER FAILURES IN MY GENERAL LOCATION. I WOULD ASK YOUR AGENCY TO LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND RECKIFY THE SITUATION
I FIRST HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES AT 19,000 HAD TO HAVE THE FROM ROTORS TURNED AND NEW NAPA BRAKE SHOES, THIS WAS DONE AT A CERTIFIED NAPA REPAIR SHOP. THE COST WAS APPROX. 175.00. THEN ABOUT 35000 MILES I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE STOPPING SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER NAPA SHOP AND HE TOLD ME THE ROTORS FRONT AND REAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH NEW BRAKE SHOES ALL AROUND. I REPLACED BOTH ROTORS AND SHOES AND NOW AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 43000 MILES. I NEED TO KNOW WHO I CAN CONTACT SINCE THIS PROBLEM IS NOT GOING TO GET BETTER AND IT IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE.
TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING VERY HARD AT 33000 MILES TRYING TO GET GM TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.*AK
IN COLD WEATHER THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GET STUCK IN AN UPRIGHT RESTING POSITION. ALSO THE STEERING RACK AND PINON HAVE FAULTY BEARINGS CAUSING IT TO FEEL LIKE THE POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING WHEN YOU TURN A SHARP LEFT.
DROVE AND PARKED. SMELLED ODOR; I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM THE CAR NEXT TO MINE. I THEN WENT INSIDE THE BUILDING. TEN MINUTES LATER, SOMEONE SAID A CAR WAS ON FIRE; IT WAS MINE. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND TOTALED THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, LEFT FRONT TIRE HIT A ROCK AND CRACKED THE RIM BASE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND REPORT ACCIDENT TO THE CAR MANUFACTURER. TS
2000 PONTIAC GRANT PRIX GT BOUGHT IN AUGUST 2000, PROBLEMS INCLUDE: 1) 22-JULY-2002, (36,040 MILES), TIE ROD WORN BADLY, HAD EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 2) 30-SEPTEMBER-02, (38,697 MILES), SERPENTINE BELT (I UNDERSTAND GENERAL MAINTENANCE FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM). 3) 21-OCT-2002, (39,181 MILES), REPLACED INTAKE MANIFOLD. IN THE 3 INCIDENTS ABOVE, I UNDERSTAND CHANGING A SERPENTINE BELT WHEN NEEDED, BUT FOR MY TIE ROD TO BE WORN AND REPLACED WITHIN 2 YRS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE IS NOT A NORMAL MAINTENANCE ITEM FOR A PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW CAR. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BEING REPLACED AROUND THE SAME TIME IS JUST UNHEARD OF. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD'S FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND FROM THE GM DEALER ARE MADE OF PLASTIC, WHICH THEN I WAS TOLD THAT PLASTIC IS A BETTER "HEAT SINK" THAN METAL IS! I AM AN ENGINEER AND WORK WITH METALS AND PLASTICS ALL THE TIME AND KNOW FOR SURE THAT METAL IS A MUCH BETTER HEAT SINK THAN PLASTIC IS. PLASTIC MELTS WITH HEAT! MY CAR REPEATABLY STALLS AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, TURNING CORNERS, AND SOMETIMES JUST STALLS WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO KEEP BRINGING MY CAR FOR REPAIRS, IT'S PRACTIALLY BRAND NEW AND I PAY NEARLY $400/MONTH TO HAVE THESE ON GOING PROBLEMS! CURRENTLY MY DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE CALIPER IS BENT AND WAS TOLD THAT IT'S GOING TO COST ME $500 TO REPLACE 2 CALIPERS (BECAUSE I GUESS ONE JUST CAN'T BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE OTHER BACK ONE) . I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CAR, WITH REGULAR CLEANINGS, OIL CHANGES AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE. I'M WEARY OF TAKING MY CAR ON EXTENDED TRIPS OUT OF TOWN FOR THE FEAR THAT IT'S GOING TO LEAVE ME STRANDED. WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY WINDSHIELD WILL MAKE KNOCKING NOISE AND VIBRATE LOUDLY, THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK

CONSUMER STATES WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, VEHICLE WILL LOSE STEERING POWER. UNABLE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED 10 TIMES YET THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST, THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. NLM
CAR ACCELERATED AND RPM GAUGE REGISTERED TO FULL CAPICITY. VERY HARD TO CONTROL, DIFFICULT TO BRING CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. REQUIRED THE DRIVER TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE MOVING TO BRING CAR TO A STOP. EMERGENCY BRAKE USED IN ORDER TO BRING CAR TO A STOP. RPM NEEDLE WAS COMPLETELY TO THE RIGHT ONCE CAR WAS STOPPED.*AK
THREE SETS OF TIRES HAVE BEEN ON THIS CAR INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL SET AND THE CAR STILL VIBRATES / SHUDDERS AT 40-45MPH AND 70-75MPH. THE DEALER HAS CHECKED ALL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!*AK
INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS THE CAUSE OF OIL FLOWING INTO ANTI FREEZE OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WILL START TO HEAT UP WHEN DRIVING. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. STEERING AND BRAKES GO OUT. THERE IS NO INDICATOR LIGHT ON PANEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK *YH
WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS, ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED AT TOTAL SHUTDOWN OF POWERTRAIN AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. THIS HAS HAPPEND IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTIONS WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THE DEALERSHIP AND PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER HAVE BEEN CONTACTED NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT IS DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE, WHICH MAKES IT COSTLY TO REPAIR.
POWER STEERING "SEIZES" DURING COLD WEATHER, START-UP CONDITIONS. STEERING WILL NOT TURN WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT FORCE. PUMP AND FLUID LEVELS ARE CORRECT. STEERING FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS BINDING.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE WILL SHUTOFF, FUSE FOR FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK *YD
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ONE TIME IT WOULD NOT RESTART. FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN VEHICLE HAS NOT SHUTDOWN BUT OCCASIONALLY LOSES POWER. HAS DONE SO WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC.*AK
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. ALSO, CIGARETTE LIGHTER WAS REPLACED. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
DIRVE UNIT MADE A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND TWICE WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. THE VEHICAL JERKED BADLY TWICE, SO HARD I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN HIT IN THE REAR END. IF OTHER CARS WERE FOLLOWING BEHIND THEY COULD HAVE HIT THE CAR BECAUSE THIE JERKING WAS SO VIOLENT THE CAR HAD SUDDENLY STOPPED AND THEN ACCELERATED SEVERAL TIMES, WITHOUT ANY BRAKE LIGHT WARNING. AFTER INITIAL INCIDENT, METAL GRINDING AND KNOCKING NOISES FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WERE HEARD. THIS METAL KNOCKING SOUND IS NOT A CONSTANT NOISE. DEALER REPAIR IS WRIGHT PONTIAC IN WEXFORD, PA. AFTER ONE WEEK OF HAVING STILL NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG. WILL TEAR DOWN THE POWER TRAIN TODAY TO IDENTIFY EXACT CAUSE. *AK
THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS GOING TO A/C COMPRESSOR WHICH RESULTED IN INTERMITTENT POWER PROBLEMS AND BAD AIR CONDITIONING. THE COMPRESSOR WOULD STOP WORKING WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RUNNING AND THE COOLING FAN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WOULD ALWAYS BE RUNNING AT 50 DEGREE TEMPERATURES, WHICH IS ABNORMAL. DEALER SPICED IN NEW WIRES AND ADDED EXTRA PADDING TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT WEAR THROUGH AGAIN.

SPEED IS A QUESTION BECAUSE THE CAR WAS STRUCK FROM AN ONCOMING CAR AVERAGING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 35- 45 MPH WHILE I WAS JUST STARTING TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL WHEN WE COLLIEDED. NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN MY CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEND DIGITAL IMAGES OF THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE CAR. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE I CAN E-MAIL OR SEND BY POST OFFICE THE PHOTOS. THE ESTIMATED DAMAGE IS ABOUT $8,000.-$10,000. IN DAMAGES. THE FINAL REPORT HAS NOT YET BEEN FILED. THE CAR WAS NOT TOTALED, BUT SHOULD BE ON THE FACT THAT THEIR IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT IN THE AIRBAGS. I HAVE CONSULTED WITH AN AUTOMOTIVE DESIGNER ( FROM FORD, PREVIOUSLY FROM GM) WHO HAS VIEWED THE PHOTOS AND HAS STATED THAT AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE AND THAT THE CAR IS NOT UNREPAIRABLE, BUT THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS SHOULD MAKE THE CAR TOTALED.
DT: THE SHIFT IS VERY LOOSE AND VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT WON'T STAY IN DRIVE. ALSO, THE LOWER SEAT HEATER GETS DANGEROUSLY HOT ON THE LOWEST SETTING, SO THE SHOP TURNED IT OFF. THE DOOR PANELING ON ALL OF THE DOORS IS ALSO COMING OFF.
VEHICLE HIT CURB AT LESS THAN 5 MPH- BOTH FRONT AIRBBAGS DEPLOYED- WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. *AK
MY 6 YR. OLD DAUGHTER GOT HER NECK CAUGHT IN THE SEATBELT AFTER UNDOING IT TO HAND ME AN ICE CREAM CUP. I HEARD HER MURMUR AND LOOKED BACK, SHE WAS STRANGLING AND COULD NOT TALK. I SLOWED THE CAR CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO KEEP THE BELT FROM TIGHTENING AROUND HER NECK ANY TIGHTER AND GOT OUT TO HELP HER. I WAS UNABLE TO HELP HER BECAUSE THE BELT WAS AUTOMATICALLY TIGHTENING AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. A MAN IN ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED AND ASKED IF I NEEDED HELP. HE HAD A KNIFE AND WE HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT OFF MY CHILD. BY THAT TIME, MY DAUGHTER HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO BREATHE OR SPEAK. SHE ENDED UP WITH CERVICAL ABRASIONS, A VERTABRA OUT IN HER NECK, AND WE HAD TO WATCH HER FOR CLOSED HEAD INJURY SYMPTOMS. I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER CHILD. IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A RELEASE LEVER TO RELEASE THE TENSION ON THE SHOULDER PART OF THE BELT, SHE COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN FREED. IF I HADN'T HAVE HEARD HER MURMUR OR IF A MAN DID NOT STOP WITH A KNIFE, MY DAUGHTER WOULD HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH. I AM REPORTING THIS TO THE CAR MANUFACTURER AND ALSO TO THE CONSUMER PRODUCTS SAFETY COMMISSION. I ATTEMPTED TO GET A POLICE REPORT TAKEN BUT I WAS TOLD RATHER RUDELY BY THE STATE POLICE AND THE LOCAL SHERIFF'S OFFICE THAT THEY WOULD NOT TAKE A REPORT ON SUCH A THING. MORE OR LESS WHAT THEY WERE TELLING ME IS THAT MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE IS NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO MAKE A REPORT ABOUT. I HAVE NO UD-10 FROM THE POLICE BUT I DO HAVE THE DOCTOR'S NOTES AND PICTURES OF MY DAUGHTERS NECK AND THE CUT SEATBELT. I ALSO HAVE A STATEMENT FROM THE MAN WHO CUT THE BELT.
