TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRE GTP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON A DAILY BASIS SHE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD BEING TOO HOT, OR ELECTRICAL HEAT RADIATING FROM THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE PAST, AND HAD TO REPLACE IT ON TAR SYSTEM 2 OR 3 TIMES. IN ADDITION, HAD A PROBLEM WITH THERE BEING A WINE IN THE ENGINE, AND A SMELL OF OIL WHEN SHE TURNED THE CAR OFF. *AK
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND HAD DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 3 MILES. I HAD STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR WHEN I CAME BACK APPROXIMATELY 2MIN LATER I NOTICED SOME SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD AREA. WHEN I OPENED IT THE CENTER OF THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE, NEAR THE ENGINE COVER. THE BEST THE INSURANCE COMPANY COULD TELL IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. NONE OF THE ORIGINAL WIRING HAS EVER BEEN CHANGED NOR HAD THE CAR BEEN MODIFIED IN ANY WAY. *NM

2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX RIGHT WHEEL SEPARATED AROUND THE RIM, RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING VEHICLE TO HIT A GUARDRAIL. *TS THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS RAINING EXTREMELY HARD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HE FELT THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANE. *JB
ON MY 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, THE ALL THREE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OUT BECAUSE OF A "MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH" FAILURE. LOTS OF OWNERS OF PONTIAC GRAND PRIX HAVE THIS FAILURE. PONTIAC GRAND AM HAVE A RECALL -- BUT NOT THE GRAND PRIX. POTENTIAL FAILURE MODE THAT CAUSES CRASHES. *NM
'01 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP CAUGHT ON FIRE IN MY GARAGE 5-10 MINUTES AFTER BEING TURNED OFF. I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR APPROX. 7 MILES BEFORE I GOT HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE. THE FIRE CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY HOME AND MY NEIGHBOR'S HOME. *JB

THE DRIVE LIGHTS ON THESE VEHICLES TURN OFF WHEN THE HEATER/AC BLOWER MOTOR IS TURNED ON. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF AND THE BLOWER MOTOR DOES THE SAME. I CONTACTED PONTIAC AND THE GAL TOLD ME THAT I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. OTHER DRIVERS REPEATEDLY FLASH THEIR LIGHTS BACK AT US TO LET US KNOW THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE FLASHING ON AND OFF. *NM
I PURCHASED MY CERTIFIED GM USED VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2004- 2 MONTHS LATER I HAD TO REPLACE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION 'SOLENOID' REPLACED, FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS .SOME 100+ POINT INSPECTION . IN NOV OF 2005 I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN DUE TO IMPROPER SHIFTING, THERE I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO DO A LOT OF TRANSMISSON WORK. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS. NOW IN APRIL OF 2006 MY CAR BARELY MAKES IT TO 40 MPH, CHUGGING ALL THE WAY. THE MECHANIC REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUEL PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE CHECKED-POSSIBLY REPLACED. A CAR WITH 65000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX IN DECEMBER, 200. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. ON MONDAY, MARCH 20, 2006 EVERYTIME I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN IT WOULDN'T DIE BUT ACTED LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING GAS. I HAD TO MASH THE GAS PEDAL A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET IT GOING. ON THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2006 MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED AFTER PARKED FOR 30 MINUTES. THE FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I CONTACTED GM AND THEIR SO-CALLED EXPERT SUPPOSEDLY CAN'T DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. NO HELP. *NM
RACK AND PINION (3RD FAILURE) THE RACK AND PINION STEERING HAS FAILED 3 TIMES ON MY PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT. *NM
I WAS SOLD A LEMON CAR AFTER LOOSING MY VEHICLE IN THE FLOOD. FIRST NIGHT I DROVE IT AFTER TURNING IGNITION LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING RPMS DROPPED, FOUND UNDERNEATH FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IS LOOSE AS WELL AS WATER WAS LOCATED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE TAIL LIGHT AND A LOT OF CONDENSATION IN SURROUNDING HEADLIGHTS. *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE OCCURRED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND WAS FIRST NOTICED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE OPERATED PROPERLY. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WASA HOLE IN THE RETURN FUEL LINE. WHILE DRIVING SHE SMELLED GASOLINE ,AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE. SHE RAISED THE HOOD AND SAW GASOLINE COMING OUT ON THE TOP OF THE MOTOR AND RUNNING DOWN TTO HE ENGINE. THIS PREVIOUSLY HAPPENED, AND THE DEALER TOLD HER THAT A MOUSE CHEWED A HOLE IN THE RETURN FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TO A SERVICE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATES HE RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL 9-05. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A RECALL NOTICE. THE NOTICE STATES THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY WAS NOT A SIGN OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER GOING BAD. HE ALSO CALLED PONTIAC, AND FILED A COMPLAINT ON 10-10-05. THE FILE NUMBER IS 1-367-660-427. *AK
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION,IT DOES NOT ALWAYS DO THIS ,BUT IT'S BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 30 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG CAUSE THE KEY CAME OUT FOR THEM ,2 MONTHS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT AND THE COST IS 600.00 FOR NEW IGNITION. *NM
I BOUGHT THE CAR OCT 2003 IT HAD 23000 MILES ON IT AND THEN WHEN IT HIT 30000 MILES THAT'S WHEN TROUBLE STARTED MY HUSBAND WENT TO CHECK ON HIS BROTHER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAS OFF FOR 1 HOUR AND WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T STAY RUNNING TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL REPAIR MAN AND HE WORKED ON IT AND NOTHING 250.00 DOLLARS LATER HE HAULED IT THE GM DEALER IN INDEPENDENCE KS. WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS THE ANTI THEFT DEVICE HAD ME LOCKED OUT AND THE HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE. 480.00 LATER. NOW WHEN I DRIVE A DISTANCE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND MY CAR ACTS LIKE IT TRIES TO CUT OUT AND SHIFTS HARD AND JERKS. AND MY TRACT OFF LIGHT STAYS ON NOW ALL THE TIME. MY LAST GRAND PRIX HAD 160000 MILES ON IT BEFORE IT STARTED ACTING UP. MY LOCAL REPAIR MAN SAID THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE BRAIN MODULE AND ALL MY PROBLEMS WELL STOP. AND NOW WHEN IT RAINS MY CAR FEEL UP WITH WATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD 2 INCHES RIGHT NOW SO IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS CAR IT NEEDS TO BE THE WHOLE CAR. RIGHT NOW THE CAR HAS 51000 MILES. *JB
MY DAUGHTER AND I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. WE WERE GOING 40-45 MPH, WHEN WE STRUCK TWO TREES. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE HIT RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE CAR, RIGHT AT THE AIRBAG SENSORS.
I HAD A LETTER SENT THROUGH THE MAIL THAT SAID THAT I COULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED THEY SAID MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TO BE ON SO THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT BUT ON THE PAPER SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE CHECK ENGINE HAVING TO BE ON. IT ONLY SAID THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MIGHT BE BAD IF I HAD POWER LOSS BUT THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT UNTIL THE LIGHT CAME ON . *JB
COOLANT FLUID LEAKING ONTO ENGINE BLOCK. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE GASKET PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND I'M PRETTY SURE THAT'S THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO PAY $700 FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *NM

HELLO, I PURCHASED A 2001 PONTIAC GRAN PRIX GT IN JUNE OF 2004, I PAID CASH FOR THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE FIRST WEEK I BOUGHT IT. I FEEL I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND ON GETTING IT FIXED PROPERLY. I HAVE HAD TO FIGHT MY WAT THROUGH THE DEALER (LAURA BUICK PONTIAC GMC) IN COLLINSVILLE, IL. IN GETTING THIS FIXED. THEY DID FINALLY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN DECEMBER OF 2004. AT THIS TIME THEN THE CAR WAS HIT ON THEIR LOT AND HAD TO GET THAT FIXED AND HAD TO ARGUE WITH THEM OVER THAT REPAIR. THEY DID REPAIR IT WEEKS LATER. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO LAURA BUICK OF COLLINSVILLE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT AGAIN DUE TO IT WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME THEY STATED TO ME THAT THEY DROVE THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF,BUT DID HERE SOME WINING MAKING ALEFT TURN AND THAT IT WAS THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AND THE COST OF THAT WOULD BE $862.00, AT THIS TIME I DON,T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET THE CAR FIXED SO I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY $65.00 TO HAVE MY CAR RELEASED TO ME. I DON,T FEEL I OWE THIS MONEY BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT HE TEST DROVE THE CAR SO BEFORE ANYTHING EXTRA WAS PERFORMED I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY ADDITIONAL FEES. I HAVE NOT BEEN SATIFIED WITH THIS PURCHASE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND I CAN GO INTO DEEPER DETAIL IF NEEDED. UPON MAKING A LEFT TURN I PROCEEDED TO PARK. WHEN I LEFT THE PARKING LOT TO I HAD NO POWER STEERING TURNING LEFT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS THE ENTIRE RACK ASSEMBLY. AUTO REAR WINDOW FAILURE. BOTH REAR WINDOWS HAVE FAILED ON THIS CAR. THEY EACH CYCLED LESS THAN 10 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. THE LAST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN I CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN. *JB
LEAKING COOLANT. FAILURE OF LOWER INTAKE GASKET FOR COOLING SYSTEM. DIRTY DEX-COOL COOLANT WITH UNUSUAL CONSISTENCY. REPAIR INCLUDED REPLACING LOWER INTAKE GASKET, FLUSHING COOLING SYSTEM, AND REPLACE THERMOSTAT. TOTAL REPAIR COST WAS $700. THIS HAS BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM REPORTED WITH THIS GM 3.1 L V6 ENGINE. PROBLEM COULD HAVE LED TO FAILURE OF ENGINE ON HIGHWAY.*AK
2001 PONTIAC MONTANA MINI VAN 1. VAN WOULD NOT START DAY OF TEST DRIVING. 2. AFTER ONLY THREE WEEKS, HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SENT IN TO BE FIXED AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE PAN. 3. PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT ALWAYS UNLOCK, SENT IN MORE THAN ONCE FOR THIS. FIXED , WORKS FOR NOW? 4. PASSENGER POWER REAR WINDOW WOULD NOT ALWAYS WORK. REPLACED MOTOR. 5. PASSENGER POWER WINDOW WENT DOWN WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. FIXED , WORKS SO FAR. 6.PASSENGER POWER SLIDER DOOR JAMS SOMETIMES. 7. PASSENGER POWER SLIDER DOOR WILL ONLY WORK MANUALLY OCCASIONALLY. 8. LIGHTS WENT OUT INSIDE AND OUT TWICE AT NIGHT. 9. LIGHTS FLICKER INSIDE AND OUT WHEN PUTTING WINDOWS UP OR DOWN OR TO DO ANYTHING ELECTRICAL. 10.BAD ODOR IN VENTS EVEN AFTER REPLACING FILTER. I FEEL THAT I HAVE REALLY BEEN LET DOWN WITH THIS VAN AND THE SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THESE VANS AFTER DOING SOME INVESTIGATING AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PROBLEMS I HAVE ADDRESSED TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FAILURE. WINDOW DOES NOT MOVE. WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF REGULATOR & MOTOR. *AK
IN MARCH OF 2004 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I HAD OIL LEAKING INTO MY RADIATOR, TO FIND OUT IT WAS TRANS OIL, THEY PUT A NEW RADIATOR HOSES AND FLUSHED MY TRANS. THIS WAS A DEALERSHIP. NOW IT IS DEC 2004 AND MY LOW COOLANT LIGHT WON'T GO OFF AND I HAVE A FEELING IT HAS TOO DO WITH SOMETHING MAJOR, I HAVE NOTICED OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR INTAKE GOING. LOW COOLANT LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR LONG PERIODS. INDICATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A LEAKING FRONT HEAD GASKET. ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $700.*AK
DT: THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE. HAD TO USE A SPECIAL ORANGE KIND OF ANTIFREEZE. TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 11-22-04 HAD COOLANT LEAK AT THE INTAKE. JANUARY 6, 2005 A COOLANT LIGHT WOULD STAY ON AND REPLACED SENSOR. HAD A COOLANT LEAK AGAIN . THE DEALER STATED THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE HEAD GASKETS . *AK
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST TO THE OWNER. THEN ANTIFREEZE STARTED TO LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO DATE. *JB *SC THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WAS REPLACED AND THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WAS REPLACED.
THE KEY STICKS IN THE IGNITION. AT FIRST, AT WAS INTERMITTENT BUT PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE UNTIL THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT AT ALL. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT COST $500 TO FIX.*AK
MY 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP HAS HAD A GRINDING NOISE SINCE 8/31/04. ON 9/1/04 IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE LAST NIGHT. I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE TRANSMISSION SHUT. THEYRE QUOTING APPROXIMATELY $2,700 TO PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO A 3-YEAR OLD CAR WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT!*AK
AFTER DRIVING FROM TALLAHASSEE, FL TO JAX, FL CAR SOUNDED AS IF WAS STUCK ON GRAVEL WHILE LEAVING FROM A RED LIGHT. AT NEXT REDLITE, A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AT TAKEOFF. NEXT REDLITE, LOUD GINDING AND CAR STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. HAD TO PUSH INTO A PARKING LOT. TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT AT 30,409 MILES.PONTIAC REBUILT TRANSMISSION

TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED AT THE PONTIAC DEALER ON JULY 13, 2004 AND I DROVE IT TO ITS APT. AT 7:30 A.M. THEY SAY IT WILL TAKE 3 TO 4 DAYS TO FIX DUE TO THE PART HAVING BE SENT OUT TO BE FIXED. THEY ALSO SAID IT WILL BE AN EXPENSIVE JOB. I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP [VALLEY CHEVROLET IN WILKES BARRE, PA] REFUSED TO INCORPORATE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY INTO MY LOAN ON THE CAR, SO THEREFORE I COULD NOT AFFORD AN ADDITIONAL $1,500 FOR THE WARRANTY. HAVE A 01 GRAND AM GT WITH THE TURN SIGNAL CLICKING NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE DASH. WHEN I HIT A BUMP ON THE ROAD OR TOUCH MY TURNING SIGNAL LEVER IT WILL START CLICKING. HOWEVER, IT WILL MAKE THIS MORSE CODE CLICKING NOISE THAT IS SAYING GM WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM, HAND OVER 300 DOLLARS. CONDITION CAN LEAD TO COOLENT IN ENGINE & ENGINE FAILURE. REPAIR IS $650.00. THIS IS A COMMON CONDITION IN THIS ENGINE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE DESIGN. ON MAY 21, 2004, PURCHASED A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX FROM BILL SMITH PONTIAC IN CULLMAN, AL. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 35,509. UPON TEST DRIVING HEARD ROARING NOISE. TOLD CONCERNS TO SALESPERSON (AT 3 DIFFERENT TIMES) ABOUT ROARING. HE ASSURED US THAT IT WAS THE NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. ON JAN, 31, 2005 HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROARING ON THE CAR WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING. LUCKILY WE HAD PURCHASED A EXT. WARRANTY AND AFTER PAYING A $100 DEDUCTABLE, BEARING WAS FIXED. ON APRIL 24, 2005 ROARING STARTED AGAIN ON DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS ONLY 46,134 MILES ON CAR. WHAT IS GOING ON??? I HAVE A SPECIAL CHILD WHOM I HAVE TO TAKE TO VARIOUS DOCTORS APPT. ON A REGULAR BASIS. THIS CAR DOESN'T HAVE 50,000 MILES YET AND IT IS ALREADY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO FIX BEARING. I FEEL THAT THEY SOLD US THIS CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE BEARING AND NOW WE ARE HAVING TO GET IT FIXED. GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT HAS WENT PAST 36,000 MILES. ARE THEY TRYING TO TELL CONSUMERS THAT NEW VEHICLES WILL ONLY GO 36,000 AND AFTER THAT YOU CAN START DISHING OUT MONEY TO HAVE THEM FIXED. REPLACEMENT OF IGNITION SWITCH ON 2001 GRAND PRIX. *MR THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED PERIODIC FAILURE OF THE A/C, DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER, DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, AND THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. *SC *JB
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED WITHIN 1 YEAR. WHEN VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR FIRST WINDOW, THEY COULD NOT "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM, WORKED FINE FOR THEM, BUT NOT 2 DAYS LATER AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP, THE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. SINCE THEN 2 MORE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *JB
I DRIVE A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX & IN AUGUST OF 2003, MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON..I TOOK IT TO A DEALER, FAULKNER PONTIAC, IN TREVOSE, PA WHO STATED THERE WERE "NO LEAKS FOUND & REPROGRAMMED PCM WITH UPDATED CALIBRATION." THEN IN MID FEBRUARY 2004, MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. MY MECHANIC SAID IT MAY BE AN EMISSIONS RELATED PROBLEM & TO TAKE IT TO MY DEALER, IN CASE IT WILL BE COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY. (80,000 MILES) I AM PRESENTLY AT 44,000 MILES. THE LIGHT WAS COMING OFF & ON AND ON WED. MARCH 17, 2004, I TOOK MY CAR TO FAIRWAY AUTOMOTIVE GROUP, JENKINTOWN, PA. THEY SAID AFTER RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC, FOUND: "DIAG SCAN FOUND PO440 PERFORMED SMOKE OUT TEST FOUND FUEL TANK LEAK! THEY SAID MY CAR COULD HAVE EXPLODED OR CAUGHT ON FIRE! AND THIS IS NOT A RECALL? I CONTACTED GM MONDAY MARCH 22, 2004 TO NO AVAIL, TO MY SATISFACTION. I FEEL I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING A DANGEROUS VEHICLE FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS, OR EVEN SINCE FEBRUARY & I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS FUEL TANK LEAK. COOLING SYSTEM * TOOK CAR IN BECAUSE OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT VEHICLE RUNNING ROUGH. DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. FURTHER DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THE LOWER INTAKE LEAKING / LOWER INTAKE GASKET LEAKING. THE SERVICE WRITER RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO GET SECOND OPINION OR DO MORE RESEARCH.
