TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERABLE INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V519000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR HDM MODULE. DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR REPAIRS, CONTACTED GM, THEY CONTACTED DEALER AND I WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR IN FOR TEMP. REPAIR, AT NO CHARGE WHICH IS WHAT WAS STATED ON RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. I DID SO JUST TO FIND THAT NIGHT THAT NOTHING HAD CHANGED. CONTACTED DEALER AND GM TO GET THE SAME RESULT. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OR WAIT FOR A PERMENANT FIX. NEW SWITCHES MIGHT BE BAD BUT USUALLY WILL LAST A WHILE BEFORE DOING SO. DEALER NEVER ASK TO SEE CAR TO FOLLOW UP ON PREVIOUS "REPAIR" AND GM SEEMS TO BE TAKING THERE SIDE. I DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON BUT HEAD LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM AND THIS DEALER. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT SOMEONE IS PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS AS I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE AT RISK WITH THIS PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 9:00 P.M. AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT ON MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SHUTOFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOE A YEAR AND HALF. I CHANGED THE RELAY AND THE NEW ONE GOT SO HOT IT MELTED. SO THEN I CHANGED THE WHOLE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD. IT SEEMED TO HAVE WORKED UNTIL THE OTHER WEEK. NOW ITS THE SAME PROBLEM.

IN ADDITION, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS, THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WOULD ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V519000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) AND IT RECEIVED THE TEMPORARY REPAIR FOR THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A WEEK BEFORE FROM A USED DEALER. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE AT NIGHT WAS ON MY SON'S GRADUATION. IT WAS ONLY A FEW MINS INTO DRIVING WITH MY LOW BEAMS ON AND THEY JUST SHUT OFF ON ME. I FREAKED IT WAS PICH DARK AND I TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET THEM TO COME ON. I TURNED THEM ON BRIGHT AND MY BRIGHTS WORKED BUT THE LOW BEAM WAS STILL OFF. A FEW MINS LATER THE LOW BEAM FINALLY CAME BACK ON. THEN IT DID IT AGAIN A FEW MINS LATER. THE LOW BEAM WILL DO THIS ALL THE TIME EVEN THE RUNNING LIGHTS. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR AN ANSWER TO THIS AND FOUND THAT MY YEAR MODEL IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAN TRULY CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I AM VERY GRATEFUL I WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THAT ROAD THAT NIGHT IT FIRST HAPPENED TO ME.
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IS NOT TRANSMITTING AN ELECTRICAL SIGNAL TO ALLOW THE IGNITION KEY TO TURN TO THE OFF POSITION AND WILL ONLY TURN AS FAR AS THE ACC (ACCESSORY) POSITION SO THAT THE BATTERY CONTINUES TO DRAIN AND DIE LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE NIGHT AND ON THE ROAD AND IN DANGER OFTEN. A LOCKSMITH SAID CONTINUING TO TURN AND PULL ON THE KEY TRYING TO REMOVE IT MYSELF COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS NECK AND HEAD INJURY IF THE AIRBAG WHERE TO DEPLOY WHILE I AM TRYING TO GET THE KEY UNSTUCK. I TOOK TO CHEVROLET DEALER AND HE SAID HE WOULD NEED A RECALL CODE/NUMBER TO ACCEPT MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR WITH THIS ISSUE.
I OWN A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LOW BEAM OF BOTH HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF WITH NO WARNING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE ON THIS WEBSITE. PONTIAC/GM NEED TO ISSUE A FIX FOR THIS IMMEDIATELY. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DIE FROM THIS ISSUE!!
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT SEDAN. SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE LOT, I WENT TO TURN ONTO A STREET TRAVELING ROUGHLY FIVE TO SEVEN MILES PER HOUR, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS SENSOR LIGHT BOTH REGISTERED ACROSS THE SYSTEM INFORMATION SCREEN AND NOTED THAT I NEEDED TO SERVICE THE ABS SYSTEM AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED THAT WE START LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. AFTERLOOKING ONLINE, WE NOTED THAT MULTIPLE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. MOST OF THE FIXES THAT WE HAVE SEEN THAT OTHERS HAVE TRIED WE HAVE ALSO TRIED, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO FIX THE ISSUE. NOW THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS SYSTEM LIGHT ARE ON 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME AND IT HAS BECOME AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. AT APPROXIMATELY 12 A.M. THIS MORNING, I TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT VERY HARD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP BY HITTING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT BOTH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS WERE NOT REGISTERING ON THE SCREEN. NOW THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS STARTED TO APPEAR EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. THIS IS THE FIFTH OR SIXTH TIME IN THE LAST MONTH THAT THE BRAKES HAVE NOT RESPONDED. MY MECHANIC AND I ARE BOTH AT OUR WITS END TRYING TO FIGURE THIS ISSUE OUT. IT IS UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE BRAKES WILL NOT RESPOND. BOUGHT CAR ON APRIL 1, 2015, WHEN WE DID TEST DRIVE, STEERING MADE WEIRD NOISE AND STEERING WAS REAL HARD TO TURN WHEEL. TOLD DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T BUY CAR UNLESS THEY HAD IT LOOKED AND FIXED. DEALER LOOKED AND SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE SOMETHING IN THE STEERING SHAFT AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER PART AND WHEN IT CAME WE BRING CAR IN, BUT CAR WAS OK TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. GOT A WORK ORDER FROM DEALER SHOWING THEY WOULD COVER COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT MORNING WHILE MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING CAR STEERING GOT REAL HARD TO TURN WHEEL AND HE CRASHED INTO TWO PARKED CARS AND OUR CAR FLIPPED AND AIR BAGS WENT OFF. HE HIT HEAD AND WAS KNOCKED OUT, CHEST PAIN AND BACK AND SHOULDER PAIN FROM THIS. CAR IS A COMPLETE LOSS TO US. *TR
CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER15V-519 RECALL 14291 THE LEFT HEADLIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT AND THIS RECALL IS SUPPOSE TO FIX THAT SITUATION BUT THE LOCAL DEALERS SAY NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND. WHAT ARE THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SUPPOSE TO DO. I HAVE PLACE 4 OR 5 LIGHTS IN THIS CAR TO DATE. A SOLUTION SURELY HAS BEEN FOUND. IF NOT GM SHOULD BUY THE CAR.

THE CAR DROVE FINE DURING THE DAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE DAY WAS A WARM SUNNY DAY. I PARKED THE CAR AT CHURCH AND WENT INSIDE. 45 MIN. - 1 HOUR AFTER PARKING THE CARE I WAS ASKED TO GO OUTSIDE. WHEN I GOT OUTSIDE I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS SMOKING WITH THE LIGHTS FLASHING AND WIPERS RUNNING. UPON OPENING THE HOOD I FOUND THE FUSE BOX WAS COMPLETELY MELTED THROUGH WITH THE WIREHARNESS MELTED THROUGH WHERE IT PLUGS INTO THE FUSE BOX. THE WIREHARNESS ACROSS THE ENGINE WAS ALSO MELTED ACROSS THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. *TR
BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY THE END OF MARCH, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, BOTH OF MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THEY CAME RIGHT BACK ON AT THAT TIME SO I THOUGHT I HIT A SWITCH. SOMETIME IN MAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO BACK ON SO I USED MY HI BEAMS. THE LOW BEAMS WORKED FINE IN THE MORNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. LAST NIGHT ON JULY 23, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON A DARK, CURVY ROAD AND I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD. THIS MORNING, THEY WORK FINE AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS. I AM SURPRISED AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I NEED TO GET IT REPAIRED, BUT SINCE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, I SUSPECT THE DEALER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OR FIX THE PROBLEM.
AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 150 MILES FROM MACON, GA, IN THE MORNING OF THE 16TH, THE CAR SHUT DOWN ON I-75 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC GOING 75 MPH IN THE PASSING LANE. WE HAD NO ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, BUT MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER A FEW MINUTES ONLY TO HAVE IT STALL OUT AFTER 10 OR 15 MILES. THE ONLY WARNING WAS 2 CHIMES FROM THE CAR BEFORE TOTAL SHUT DOWN. WE DID HAVE FLASHER LIGHTS AND WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR EACH TIME. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 OR 8 TIMES. WE STOPPED AT SEVERAL AUTO PARTS PLACES TO SEE IF WE COULD FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BUT NO LUCK. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO A CHEVROLET DEALER IN ASHBURN, GA (PARKER CHEVROLET). THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, OR DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. POOR SERVICE! THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS OKAY! JUST 2 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, IT STALLED AGAIN. I DROVE MY PONTIAC TO CVS AND RETURNED HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. PARKED THE CAR AS USUAL AND WENT INTO MY HOME. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, MY NEIGHBOR CAME TO MY DOOR TO ALERT ME THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. SHE STATED THAT SHE HAD ALREADY CALLED 911 SO I JUMPED INTO ACTION AND GOT MY WATER HOSE TO TRY AND CONTAIN THE FIRE. THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD.THE CAR BURNED FOR AROUND 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO USE THE JAWS OF LIFE TO OPEN THE HOOD. THERE WAS NO RECENT WORK DONE TO THE CAR AND IT WAS RUNNING NORMAL. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY ALLSTATE. *TR

2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR VEHICLE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMP DRIVER MODULE RECALL NOTICE REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING IN NOVEMBER 2014. IN SEPTEMBER 2015, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING HEADLIGHT FAILURE. WHILE AT THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, HE INQUIRED ABOUT THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THEY DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL IN THEIR SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER SUBMITTED A REQUEST FORM FOR REIMBURSEMENT. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM GENERAL MOTORS INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE DEALERS HAD NOT BEEN ADVISED OF THE RECALL AND THAT HE WOULD RECEIVED FURTHER PAPERWORK, WHICH HE COULD THEN SUBMIT ONCE THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. VERY UPSET WITH THE FACT THAT GENERAL MOTORS IS NOT GIVING LOANER VEHICLE TO CONSUMERS WHO HAVE IGNITION RECALL 14350. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS AT RANDOM OCCASIONS THE LOW BEAMS WOULD JUST TURN OFF IN MY CAR WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY, THE HIGH BEAMS HAVE ALWAYS WORKED SO I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE. I RESEARCHED HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE, AND I ENDED UP REPLACING THE RELAY TO THE LOW BEAMS TWICE SINCE OCT. 2011. REPLACING THE RELAY ALWAYS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I WAS ALWAYS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IT WAS JUST A FAULTY RELAY. LAST NIGHT, MY WIFE RETURNED HOME FROM DINNER AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. SHE CALLED ME TO ASK WHAT SHE SHOULD DO. I ADVISED HER TO EITHER DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR REMOVE THE RELAY THAT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE PAST UNTIL I COULD COME HOME AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. AS SHE OPENED THE HOOD SHE NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. IT WAS DARK SO SHE WENT TO GRAB A FLASHLIGHT, AND UPON RETURNING THE RELAY PANEL WAS NOW ON FIRE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS A FIRE EXTINGUISHER NEARBY FOR HER TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES BEFORE IT GOT OUT OF HAND. OUR 3 YEAR OLD AND 8 MONTH OLD SONS HAD ALSO JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR AS WELL. I CRINGE THINKING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD MY FAMILY BEEN DRIVING AN EXTRA 10 MINUTES WHEN THIS FIRE BEGAN, OR IF MY WIFE COULDN'T HAVE RETURNED IN TIME WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE KEY HAD STARTED GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION, ONE DAY IT JUST DID NOT COME OUT. ONCE THE IGNITION TUMBLER WAS REMOVED THERE WAS A LONG CRACK DOWN THE SIDE OF THE HOUSING WHICH WAS CAUSING THE KEYS TO LOOSEN AND SO THE KEY WAS NOT TURNING IN SYNC AND GOT STUCK. THE KEY BROKE OFF IN THE IGNITION STUCK ON ACCESSORY UNTIL THE PART CAME IN I WOULD HAVE TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY EVERY TIME I LEFT MY CAR FOR LONG PERIODS SO THE BATTERY WOULD NOT DRAIN POWER. ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CABLE CAME OFF BECAUSE OF BEING LOOSENED FROM MULTIPLE REMOVAL. I LOST ALL POWER DRIVING AT 70MPH I DID NOT PANIC I SIMPLY PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A JUMP START HOWEVER I COULD SEE THIS RESULTING IN A BAD ACCIDENT. *TR

REFERENCE RECALL 14V755 NOV 25, 2014, I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM IN FEBRUARY 2014 WHILE DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT ON A BACK ROAD WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. I WAS GOING 45 MPH AND SUDDENLY PITCH BLACK. I THOUGHT QUICKLY THOUGHT TO HIT MY HIGH BEAMS. AFTER SPENDING MONEY, REPLACED THE RELAY AND THE FOLLOWING JULY IT COMPLETELY MELTED DOWN, BURNING UP MY FUSE BOX AND SEVERAL WIRES IN THE HARNESS WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITHOUT KEYS IN IT. I HAPPENED TO WALK OUT AND SMELLED IT BURNING. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. CLEARLY IT WAS THE (HDM) HEADLIGHT RELAY STATED IN THIS RECALL. (PHOTO ATTACHED).I'VE SPENT ABOUT $1500.00 IN REPAIRS. THERE ARE MANY BLOGS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND BURNED UP A LOT WORSE THAN MINE. NOW I HAVE NO WORKING LOW BEAMS AND AM DRIVING THE CAR USING HIGH BEAMS ONLY. I WORRY THAT HIGH BEAMS WILL STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING WHICH COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.
