I WENT TO WORK ON JULY 15, 2014, AFTER DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF AT HER GRANDMOTHERS. I WORKED FOR 8 HOURS AND AS I WAS LEAVING I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO TURN OVER. MY DOME LIGHT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION & MY HEADLIGHTS WERE IN THE AUTO POSITION. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR WAS DEAD. I CALLED MY FIANC TO COME JUMP MY CAR. WHEN HE ARRIVED AND OPENED THE HOOD HE IMMEDIATELY SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. HE NOTICED THAT MY FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD WAS WARPED AND WHEN HE OPENED IT SMOKE ROLLED OUT AND 1 RELAY SWITCH WAS SO BURNT/MELTED IT WAS BLACK & FLAKEY AND HAD BEGAN TO MELT THE OTHER RELAYS AROUND IT. MY FIANC HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT HAS ALSO DAMAGED THE WIRING HARNESS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS SAME PROBLEM ONLINE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. SOME VEHICLES HAVE EVEN HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD OF THEIR CARS. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE WHO DRIVES THE VEHICLE AND TO THOSE WHO ARE AROUND THE VEHICLE IF A FIRE DOES BREAK OUT. *TR
I, THE OWNER OF A 2007 GRAND PRIX SEDAN, OPERATING SAID VEHICLE ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET AT THE SPEED OF 20 MPH EXPERIENCED STALLED VEHICLE. WAS UNABLE TO STEER, BRAKE, AND REALIZED THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED WHILE DRIVING. APPLIED EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO COME TO A CONTROLLED STOP TO PREVENT CRASHING INTO TRAFFIC. TURNED THE IGNITION KEY COMPLETELY OFF, PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART VEHICLE. ELECTRIC IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUED TO TRY TO START THE VEHICLE, TAKING 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE IGNITION SWITCH ALLOWED VEHICLE TO START. GM MUST ADDRESS THIS OR IT WILL COST MORE THAN JUST PARTS, IT WILL DO IT AGAIN AND NO ONE CAN SAY WHERE MY FAMILY AND I MAY EXPERIENCE THIS AGAIN. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE TO HAVE NO CONTROL WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION WITH PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
PUSH BUTTON TO TURN ON AC HAD NOT BEEN WORKING FRO 1 WEEK. WAS TOLD IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE RELAY FUSE. DROVE CAR TO WORK WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS. WORKED 13 HRS AND WHEN I GOT OFF WORK CAR STARTED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. NOTICED BOTH THE HEAD LIGHTS WHERE NOT WORKING. HIGH BEAMS WORKED FINE AND SO DID THE FOG LIGHTS, BUT THE LOW BEAMS WOULDN'T LIGHT UP. I CHECKED THE 'UNDER THE HOOD FUSE BOX'. IT LOOKED FINE FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT ONCE I OPENED THE LID ON THE BOX I SAW THE PROBLEM. THE RELAY FUSE HAD CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE FUSE NEXT TO IT CAUSING THEM TO FUSE TOGETHER. THE BOARD UNDER THEM HAD ALSO MELTED, ALONG SOME OF THE FUSE AREAS NEXT TO THEM. ALL OF THE OTHER FUSES HAD STICKY BURNT PLASTIC ON THEM, ALONG WITH THE INSIDE OF THE LID. *TR
WHEN LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE OUR LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. I TRIED TO MANUALLY MAKE THEM COME ON AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. I STILL HAD HIGH BEAMS, TAIL LAMPS, AND SIDE MARKER LAMPS. I TURNED ON MY FOG LAMPS TO MAKE IT HOME WITH LIGHTING TO THE FRONT. *JS
A COUPLE MONTHS AGO THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS BEGAN TO RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO APPARENT CORRELATION BETWEEN HOW LONG THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING AND WHEN THE LIGHTS CUT OFF OR HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE FOR THEM TO BEGIN WORKING AGAIN. ONLY HI BEAMS WORKED CONSISTENTLY. AS OF THIS PAST WEEK, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS ARE NO LONGER WORKING FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. A LOCAL MECHANIC HAS BEEN ENGAGED TO TROUBLESHOOT POSSIBLE CAUSES. AFTER READING ONLINE COMPLAINTS, HE WILL REVIEW THE FUSE BLOCK, RELAY AND CONNECTIONS TO THE COMPUTER TO DETERMINE WHERE THE BREAKDOWN OCCURS. WE ARE IN AGREEMENT WITH OTHER COMMENTS POSTED ON THIS SITE. IT IS VERY SCARY THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENS. FORTUNATELY, THE 20-YEAR OLD DRIVER WAS FAMILIAR WITH THAT PARTICULAR CURVE AND HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO HIT THE HIGH BEAMS RIGHT AWAY. I'M NOT CONFIDENT ALL DRIVERS WOULD RECOVER SO QUICKLY UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. IT ONLY TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS TO ENGAGE THE HI BEAMS IF IT'S YOUR VEHICLE AND YOU KNOW THEIR PLACEMENT. HOWEVER, PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO FUMBLE AND SWITCH FROM AUTO TO MANUAL FOR THE LOW BEAMS FIRST BEFORE ENGAGING THE HI BEAMS. THAT EXTRA TIME COULD COST LIVES. IT IS A SHAME THAT AFTER ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AND FIRES, THERE'S NO RECALL YET. *TR
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY, THEN SHIFTED EXTREMELY HARD INTO GEAR. THIS IS A GRAND PRIX GXP MODEL AND AS I HAVE RESEARCHED, THIS TRANSMISSION FAILS AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE. IT IS SUPPOSEDLY A HEAVY DUTY MODEL OF THE TRANSAXLES USED IN THE V6 MODEL, HOWEVER IT RUNS VERY HOT ( FACTORY EXTERNAL COOLER SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED) AND WEARS OUT VERY EARLY. IT HAS FAILED TO SHIFT PROPERLY NUMEROUS TIMES, CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER. *TR
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WE HAVE ALREADY FIXED THIS PROBLEM 3 TIMES WITCH THE SWITCH COST US 210.00 DOLLARS TO HAVE REPLACED AND THAT IS JUST THE PART. I WILL BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND MY LIGHTS JUST TURN OFF AND NEVER COME BACK ON!!! I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A WRECK DUE TO THIS PROBLEM SO I BELIEVE SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE PONTIAC CONTROL SWITCH THAT OPERATES LIGHTS BLINKERS CRUISE CONTROL. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM HOUSTON AIRPORT. THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND WE WE'RE UNABLE TO GET THEM TO TURN BACK ON WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE ABLE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS BUT THE LOW BEAMS DID NOT WORK AFTER 2 MINUTES THEY CAME BACK ON BY THERE SELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE PAST ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED FLAMES COMING FROM THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED BY THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY RADIO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WHEN I GOT OFF WORK I TRIED TO START MY CAR BUT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THE CAR WAS JUMPED OFF. THE CAR OPERATED FINE BUT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF TO DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES, YOU COULD SMELL BURNING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT'S. AFTER INSPECTING THE RELAYS WE FOUND THE HEADLIGHT RELAY WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY MELTED DOWN. THE RELAY WAS CHANGED AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE WORKING OKAY. *TR
LOW BEAM LIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING THEN BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE OF MINS. HIGH BEAM WORKS FINE. *TR
RANDOM MISFIRE CODE WON'T GO AWAY SINCE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS THEN UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CAR COMPUTER & IGNITION COIL MODULE, SPARK PLUGS AND THE CODE TEMPORARILY WENT AWAY GOOD ENOUGH TO PASS EMISSIONS. THEY ALSO PERFORMED THE KEY RECALL THE CODE KEEPS COMING & NO MECHANIC OR DEALERSHIP CAN TELL ME WHY BUT THEY KEEP TAKING MY MONEY FOR A TEMPORARY FIX.THE DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE REPLACED 5 SENSORS, THE IGNITION COIL MODULE TWICE, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, ALL SIX FUEL INJECTORS, THE FUEL PUMP AND HAD 3 MAJOR TUNE UPS. TO DATE THE ENGINE LIGHT SHUTS OFF TEMPORARILY AND ALWAYS RETURNS WITH THE SAME TWO CODES P0300 & P0420. IT FLASHES OCCASIONALLY BUT STAYS STEADY MOST DAYS.NO WORK DONE IS TURNING THE ENGINE LIGHT OFF FOR GOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND JERKED WHEN THE GEARS WERE SHIFTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED. THE FLUSH WAS PERFORMED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE RECALL. CONSUMER STATES WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF AND IT WOULDN'T RESTART. *SMD
1) LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WOULD JUST TURN OFF WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON. HIGH BEAM WORKS OK. 2) WHEN TAKING THE STEPS TO USE TURN SIGNAL HANDLE TO SIGNAL A LEFT TURN, THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY A SHORTED CIRCUIT IN THE STEERING COLUMN OR EXCESSIVE WEAR. THIS INCIDENT APPEAR TO BE CONNECTED WITH THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS TURNING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TR
I PURCHASE VEHICLE IN 02/19/2014 AND HAD PROBLEMS FROM WATER PUMP CAR WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE AND IT GET STUCK WHEN YOU PLACE IT IN DRIVE IT PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL LIKE ITS IN PARK. WHEN I'M SITTING ON A SLIGHT HILL IT GOES IN REVERSE AND SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOES UP AND I HAVEN'T DROVE THE CAR FOR A GOOD 15 MIN THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR 4 TIMES SINCE I'VE PURCHASE IT. I HEAR A RATTLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I'VE HAD A TRANSMISSION INSTALL, WATER PUMP REAR TRAILER ARMS.TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP 4TH TIME AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG I PURCHASE A WARRANTY AND I STILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FEES. I HEAR RATTLING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I REACH OUT TO THE RECALL WEBSITE FOR PONTIAC AND ENTER VIN NUMBER JUST TO FIND OUT THERE IS NO RECALL. THE GAS TANK WHEN I SCREW THE CAP ITS NOT TIGHTENING SECURELY BUT I ALSO SAW THAT WAS A RECALL ON THAT AS WELL. I FEEL LIKE I PURCHASE A PIECE OF JUNK WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'M ON THE ROAD MY LIFE IS IN DANGER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
ON 12/12/13, CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY IN 1ST GEAR WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ROUGHLY THROUGH REMAINING GEARS. TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMP WAS 220+ DEGREES. TOOK CAR TO GM DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND REFILL. DID AS RECOMMENDED. ON 2/4/14, AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND CAR WOULDN'T MOVE IN ANY GEAR. TRANS FLUID TEMP WAS FINE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OTHER WARNINGS. CALLED ONSTAR, HAD IT TOWED TO THE SAME GM DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT TRANSMISSION PAN WAS FILLED WITH METAL FLAKES. THERE WERE NO METAL FLAKES AS OF 12/12/13, AND NO ISSUES BETWEEN THOSE DATES. BOUGHT A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND PICKED UP CAR 3/12/14. FILING MY COMPLAINT DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION.
AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON. HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE FOR CORRECTION AND DEALER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX.
I HAD BEEN HAVING A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. THE WOULD JUST RANDOMLY TURN OFF AT NIGHT. THEY ONLY WORKED WHEN THEY WANTED TO. ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 17TH I STOPPED AT THE STORE ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL AND ONCE I CAME OUT OF THE STORE (ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER) I SMELT SOMETHING BURNING AND NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN THE HOOD WAS POPPED THE RELAY BOX WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND THE WIRING HARNESS HAD A FIRE STARTING TO IGNITE. I CAUGHT IT RIGHT AFTER IT STARTED. GM CLAIMS THEY KNOW NOTHING OF IT AND IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COSTS. AFTER READING MANY INSTANCES ON THIS I WOULD LIKE HELP IN GETTING SOMETHING STARTED. THERE IS A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. THANKFULLY MY CHILD WAS ALREADY DROPPED OFF AT SCHOOL AND NO ONE WAS HURT. I KNOW GM KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IS COSTING CLOSE TO $3,000 TO HAVE ALL OF THESE PARTS REPLACED. I THINK GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND YOU ARE THE GUYS THAT ARE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE THEM TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM DOING EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO TRY TO GET A RECALL STARTED AND TO HAVE THEM PAY FOR THEIR FAULTS. PLEASE HELP!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE CRUISE CONTROL TO ENGAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,234.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH INTO A WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE DRIVER INJURED THE LEFT ANKLE AND BOTH WRISTS. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUFFERED AN INJURED LEG. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE HUB ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,397.
HEAD LIGHTS GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I'M SURE I DON'T HAVE TO SAY HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND A VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND HER CONTINUED TO APPROACH RAPIDLY BEFORE STEERING THE VEHICLE INTO A DITCH TO AVOID A CRASH. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS ALERTED BY A POLICE OFFICER THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL A REPAIR WAS MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TRACTION CONTROL / ABS BRAKES FEEL LIKE THEY WELL NOT STOP VEHICLE/ WHEN ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON WHICH IS PROBABLY 90% OF THE TIME . ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I HAD THE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED , I THOUGHT THIS WOULD CURE THE PROBLEM ONLY TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE. THANK YOU *TR
MY TRANSMISSION/ TRANSAXLE HAS BEEN REBUILT 3 TIMES. WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED AT THIS TIME IS THAT THE BASE MODEL 4T65E TRANSAXLE DOESN'T REALLY DIFFER IN THE HARD PARTS FOR THE 4T65E-HD THATS IN MY PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP. BAD JERKING AND SLIPPING FROM TAKE OFF OR ACCELERATING IS MY PROBLEM. JUST THIS YEAR MY CAR COULDN'T ACCELERATE OVER 40MPH BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. ANYONE I TALK TO WHO HAS THE SAME MOTOR COMBINATION OF THE LS4 MOTOR WITH THE 4T65E-HD TRANAXLE HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THE SAME SIMILAR ISSUES. WETHER IT BE THE IMPALA SS 2006-2009, MONTE CARLO SS 2006-2007, BUICK LACROSSE SUPER 2008-2009, OR THE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP 2005-2008. THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE COMBINATION WITH THE POWER IN THE 303 HP MOTOR IS TOO MUCH FOR THE 4T65E-HP TRANSMISSION. I'VE FOUND A WEBSITE THAT CLAIMS THEY HAVE SOLVED THE FLAWS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE WEBSITE EXPLAINS IN DETAIL WHAT PARTS THEY USE AND HOW IT CAN SUPPORT THE POWER OF THE LS4 MOTOR. ANOTHER GXP TRANSMISSION ISSUE... THERE SEEMS TO BE A VERY HIGH NUMBER OF ISSUES W/THE GXP TRANSMISSIONS CONSIDERING HOW FEW THEY SELL SINCE IT'S THE TOP OF THE LINE VERSION W/THE V8 ENGINE. SEEMS LIKE THEY TRIED TO USE THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE LOWER MODELS W/THE V6 ENGINES & IT'S NOT HOLDING UP TO THE ENGINE POWER. WHEN IS THERE FINALLY GOING TO BE A RECALL FOR THE DESIGN ISSUE/POOR QUALITY? I HAD THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AT ~50K MILES AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & IT WAS RUNNING FINE AT THE TIME. I DON'T SPEND A LOT OF TIME AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY & DON'T DRIVE IT HARD, BUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER ~72,200 MILES. EARLY FEB 2013, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND ~3RD TO 4TH. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL DURING THE TEST DRIVE & SAID TO BRING IT BACK IF IT GOT WORSE. ON 2/26/13 I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WAS GETTING WORSE & IT ALSO STARTED MAKING A NOISE. THE NIGHT I DROPPED IT OFF, THE SERVICE REP WATCHED ME PUT IT IN REVERSE & DRIVE TO MOVE THE CAR, BUT IT WASN'T MAKING ANY NOISE OR SLIPPING AT THAT TIME. I AGREED TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT SO THEY COULD SEE IF IT MADE NOISE WHEN IT WAS COLD IN THE MORNING. THE NEXT DAY, HE CALLED ME TO SAY THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T WORK AT ALL ANYMORE & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3,349. FORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T FAIL AS I WAS PULLING OUT ON THE BUSY CROSSROADS & TAKE ON MY WAY TO WORK OR IT COULD'VE BEEN A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR

CAR STALLED AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED ONLY INDICATION WAS HARD TO STEER AND HARD TO BRAKE BECAUSE OF ENGINE STALLING. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND PIN POINT TEST. REPLACED CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND IGNITION CONTROL MODULE. THE CAR AGAIN STALLED ON THEM WITH NO WARNING LIGHT INDICATIONS ONLY THAT STATED ABOVE. THE CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE CAR STALLS WHEN WARM AND NO TIED TO ANY SPECIFIC SPEED. THIS CAR HAS STALLED ON ME SEVERAL TIMES NOW AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 55 MPH. CURRENTLY HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DEALERSHIP STILL HAS THE CAR AND CURRENTLY NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO OCCUR ON THE GRAND PRIX FOR YEARS 1998 TO 2007 WITH NO ANSWER TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED SERIOUSLY BECAUSE IT PUTS ALL DRIVERS ON THE ROAD IN SERIOUS HARM AND COULD SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF A CAR STALLING AT ANYTIME. I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED TWO TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK AND THE IGNITION COILS AND WIRES ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS WITH THE SAME RESULT OF CAR STALLING WHEN CAR REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURES. *TR
THE LOW BEAMS JUST STOPPED WORKING BUT ALL OTHER LIGHTS WERE FINE. FIRST IT HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT TO GO HOME. TRIED ALL TYPES OF WAYS SUCH AS SET THE ALARM OFF ON THE CAR WHICH WORKED FOR A FEW MINUTES TO RESET THE LIGHTS. THEN THE LOW BEAMS WENT OFF AGAIN. WE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS, THE FUSE FOR THE HEADLAMPS. THIS WORKED FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS, THEN AGAIN DRIVING AT NIGHT THEY TURNED OFF. NOTHING WORKED TO GET THE LOW BEAMS BACK ON. FOUND OUT THE FUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE FUSE BOX AND NOW WE ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE RELAY BOX AS WELL PLUS IT DAMAGED OTHER FUSES. SO WE HAVE TO REPLACE THOSE TOO. I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVERS NOT ONLY DRIVING THE CAR BUT OTHER CARS AROUND US AT THAT TIME. *TR

THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT JUST STOPPED AFTER I MADE A TURN AND READ DISABLED DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT JUST RESTARTED. THE LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING STILL WORK THE CAR WILL JUST NOT CRANK BACK UP UNTIL AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES. I TAKE THE KEY OUT AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR WILL START BACK UP LIKE NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FEW MECHANICS, AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PULL ANY CODES, AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. NOW THAT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE MONDAY TODAY IS FRIDAY AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THE CODES DON'T PULL UP AND THE CAR HASN'T DONE IT SINCE THEY HAVE HAD IT. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED MOVING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, LESS THAN 10,000 MILES LATER THE 'NEW' TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING BADLY. HELP!!! I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, AND FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR SO NOW, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING COMING ON AND GOING OFF INTERMITTENTLY ON IT'S OWN WHILE PARKED, CAR TURNED OFF, AND KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE LIGHTING CONTROLS, NO RESOLVE. I'VE ADJUSTED THE DELAYED LIGHTING SETTINGS TO OFF (WAS PREVIOUSLY SET AT 15 SECONDS), NOTHING. I DO RECALL READING THAT OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND OFFERED SOME SUGGESTIONS. I'VE TRIED TAKING THE BATTERY OUT OF THE REMOTE - DIDN'T WORK. 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 96,000 MILES (AND 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY). STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO GO AND HEARD A "CLUNK" AND HAD NO FORWARD GEARS IN AUTOMATIC. DID HAVE TAPSHIFT GEARS AND REVERSE, THOUGH FORWARD GEARS SLIPPED.
