DIVER'S DOOR POWER WINDOWS, POWER DOOR LOCK AND DOOR OPEN/CLOSED SENSOR NOT WORKING DUE TO BROKEN WIRES IN BETWEEN CAR AND DOOR. LOOKS LIKE WIRES ARE TOO SHORT AND HAVE BROKEN.
VEHICLE HAS 78000 MILES ON IT FUEL SMELL FROM UNDER VEHICLE AND IN CABIN COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN MESA AZ
LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT AND WARNING BELL COMES ON STAYS ON , EVERYTHING HAS BEEN CHECK MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE OIL PRESSURE IS FINE. ALSO PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK AND THE BACK HATCH WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE AND I HAVE TO CLIMB IN THE BACK WITH A FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER TO UNLOCK IT! ONLY GOT TO ACTUALLY USE THE BACK END TWICE WHEN WE GOT THIS CAR BEFORE IT DID THIS. I REALLY HATE THIS CAR BUT NEED THIS STUFF FIXED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THERE WAS A DISTINCT ODOR OF GASOLINE. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO OUR MECHANIC WHO CHECKED IT AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS CRACKED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT (WEATHER). THE MECHANIC ADVISED US THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, HOWEVER AS WE LOOKED INTO IT AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL BUT DID SEE THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS MATTER. WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING INTO THIS AND MAKING CAREFUL DETERMINATION IN YOUR DECISION IN COVERING THIS FUEL PUMP UNDER A RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ACTIVATION LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODULE AND THE SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS THAT RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE COULD CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNAVAILABLE.
2008 PONTIAC TORRENT FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING DISPLAYS IN DASH.. WHEN SOMEONE IS SEATED, THE ON LIGHT DOES NOT COME IMEDIATELY AND AT OTHER TIMES IT DOES COME ON. TOOK TO DEALER WHO SAID THE RF SENSOR WAS BAD. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER THE PART WHICH COST $784. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM SOUND LIKE 2007 AIRBAG RECALL.
I HEARD A SLIGHT CLATTERING COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ONE AFTERNOON ON MY WAY TO TOWN. I PULLED OVER THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CALLED ON STAR TO ASK THEM TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC.THE ON STAR ADVISER SAID TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER TRAIN.I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE CAR THEY SAID HALF OF THE MOTOR WAS NOT GETTING OIL PUMPED TO IT, IT HAS A DUAL OVERHEAD CAM. THEY SAID IT HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHY THE OIL WOULDN'T GET THROUGH TO BOTH PARTS OF THE MOTOR. IT HAD SOME SORT OF "CLOG" IN IT, BUT COULD NOT SPECIFY WHERE. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR OR THEY COULD BREAK IT DOWN AND FIND THE PROBLEM BUT IT WOULD BE MORE EXPENSIVE TO DO IT THIS WAY. I ENDED UP PAYING $7098 FOR A NEW MOTOR. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED, I PAID THE CAR OFF THE MONTH BEFORE AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO RECALLS ON THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE, CHANGED THE OIL EVERY 2800 MILES AND USED A HIGH GRADE FILTER AND SYNTHETIC OIL. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GIVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED. I BELIEVE THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE PART IN THE MOTOR TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD IS ON AND PASSENGERS AIRBAG IS OFF. MY CAR HAS A MANUFACTURER DATE 2007 WHICH HAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS BUT BECAUSE MINE IS A 2008 IT DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.
FLOOR BOARD GETS SUPER WET THEY STATED THAT THE SUNROOF DRAIN IS UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD SO WHEN IT RAINS I HAVE A LIL RIVER IN THE FRONT OF MY TORRENT THE RUGS HAD MOLD ON THEM HAD TO THROW THEM OUT AND EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT MOLD AND WHAT IT CAN DO TO A PERSON FROM MOLD
BATTERY DIED, AND AFTER GETTING A BOOST THE STABILITRACK LIGHT TRACK CAME ON. MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. TURNING WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I RAN INTO A CURB WHILE TRYING TO TURN. *TR
VALVE SPRING ON CYLINDER 6 COLLAPSED AND CREATED A MISFIRE ON THAT CYLINDER. THE HEAD HAD TO BE REMOVED AND MACHINED. IT CAUSED BAD ACCELERATION FROM IDLE TO ALMOST 10MPH. THEY REPLACED THE SPRING, ROCKER, AND PUSH ROD AMONG OTHER THINGS, I.E. GASKETS.
I GOT INTO MY TORRENT, STARTED UP THE ENGINE, AND STARTED EXITING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHERE I WORK. I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO STOP, BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEELS. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND GOT OUT TO CHECK FOR A FLAT TIRE, AND THEY WERE JUST FINE. THERE WERE NO FLUIDS UNDER MY VEHICLE, THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON ON MY DISPLAY, NO SQEEKS OR SQUEALS, AND IT HAD JUST WORKED FINE WHEN I WENT HOME FOR LUNCH. I VERY CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY( I CAN HARDLY MOVE THE WHEELS) MOVED IT INTO A SAFER LOCATION ON THE PARKING LOT, AND CALLED GM TO ASK ABOUT RECALLS ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, BECAUSE A CO-WORKER TOLD ME THAT HE HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2008 CHEVY MALIBU THAT HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO IT, AND HE WAS TOLD THAT THIS MODEL TORRENT HAD THE SAME POWER STEERING PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO RECALL LISTED FOR IT. IT IS NOW SITTING IN THE LOT AT WORK, WHILE WE TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. WE LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN AND THE NEAREST GM DEALER, THAT WORKS ON PONTIAC, IS OVER 40 MINUTES AWAY, ON A BUSY FREEWAY. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED LAST FALL, AND IT HAS RUN PERFECTLY SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. I ONLY DRIVE IT 5 - 10 MILES A DAY, AND ONLY TAKE IT OUT OF TOWN ONCE IN A WHILE.
TAKAYA RECALL AND MORE ..AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED IN ACCIDENT. KEY WON'T COME OUT OF IGNITION WHEN HEATED UP, DOOR LOCKS WITH REMOTE FAILURE, HATCHBACK DOESN'T CLOSE PROPERLY, WIPER BLADE ON BACK GOES ON WHILE NOT ENGAGED OR CLOSING HATCHBACK. NHTS CALLED ME FOR PICTURES AND SENT IN NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.
IGNITION SWITCH STARTED GETTING STUCK AND KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT. HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND A COUPLE TIMES ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. HAS DRAINED THE BATTERY A COUPLE TIMES NOW REQUIRING EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. *TR
IVE HAD THIS TORRENT FOR 3 YRS NOW ALL IN THE LAST 1 1/2 IVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON EVAP LEAK CLAIM THEY FIXED STILL NOT FIXED VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS TRUCK
GAS PEDAL DOES NOT RETURN BACK WHEN PUSHED UP TO THE BOTTOM. IT CAN BE BROUGHT BACK ONLY WITH FOOT MOVING IT FROM BOTTOM UP. *TR
FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING SIMILAR TO 2007 MODEL'S RECALL. *TR
FOR MONTHS THE AIRBAG, TRACTION CONTROL AND SEATBELT LIGHTS HAVE LIT INTERMITTENTLY AND STAYED ON FOR A FEW MINUTES OR A FEW DAYS. SOMETIMES THEY LIGHT IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE OR THEY MIGHT LIGHT UP IN A FEW MINUTES OR IN AN HOUR OR TWO. WHEN THERE IS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON AT LEAST UNTIL THE PASSENGER GETS OUT. AFTER SEEING THE RECALLS FOR THE 2007 TORRENT, I BELIEVE GM HAS KNOWN ALL ALONG ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND SEVERAL RECALLS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THE 2008 TORRENT.
INTERMITTENT "SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING" ON DASH DISPLAY, PASSENGER SIDE BAG SHOWS OFF WITH SOMEONE IN SEAT, WHEN THEY MOVE IN SEAT, WARNING GOES OUT, AND AIR BAG TURNS ON. THIS INDICATES TO ME, THAT PROBLEM IS IN SEAT CUSHION. FROM READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON EARLIER MODELS, AND GM IS AWARE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE COVERED AS THEY HAVE DONE PREVIOUSLY. CAR ONLY HAS 68K MILES.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE IS NOT AT ALL WORKING. OFF WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. NOW MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MAKES ALL LIGHTS ON MY DASH TO COME ON. TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AIR BAG, AND SO ON AND SO ON. TOOK CAR TO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG..
RETURNED TO VEHICLE AFTER SHOPPING AND POWER STEERING ASSIST NO LONGER WORKED. THIS CONTINUED FOR ALMOST A WEEK WHILE I DID MY RESEARCH ON ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEMS SO THAT I COULD PERFORM REPAIRS. STEERING ISSUED CLEARED ON ITS OWN.. CAR ONLY HAD LESS THAN 60,000 MILES AT THE TIME.
2006 PONTIAC TORRENT STEERING LOCKED UP AND FROZE WHILE BACKING UP. *CW THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE, BUT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,053.
SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL IT MADE THE NOISE/SOUND AS THOUGH IT WANTED TO ACCELERATE BUT WOULD MOVE NOWHERE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT ACCELERATED FOR ABOUT 5 SEC WHEN PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE GAS PEDAL, THEN REPEATED THE ACTION (SOUNDING LIKE IT WANTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED BUT WENT NOWHERE). *TR
CAR REFUSED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I TRIED TO GET OUT OF A DANGEROUS SITUATION. HAD TO FLOOR THE ACCELERATOR AND ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP FOR A FEW MINUTES ONLY. JERKING (LACK OF ACCELERATION) CONTINUED UNTIL CALLED GM HO AND CONNECTED WITH MY DEALER UNDER "SPECIAL COVERAGE." HAD TO TAKE A MECHANIC ON THE ROAD AND DUPLICATE TO BE SURE I WAS NOT DISMISSED AGAIN WITHOUT FIXING. GIVEN A HARD TIME ABOUT GETTING THE FULL SPECIAL COVERAGE TO COVER THE SPARK PLUG WIRES & SPARK PLUGS, BUT DEALER GAVE IN SINCE REPEATED VISITS FOR SAME PROBLEM. STILL AWAITING A "SPECIALIST" FROM GM TO CALL BACK REGARDING SPARK PLUGS BEING INCLUDED AND WHY I CANNOT VIEW THE ACTUAL "SPECIAL COVERAGE" DOCUMENT AS TO THIS PROBLEM POSSIBLY REPEATING ITSELF EVERY 6 MONTHS PER OTHER OWNERS. *TR
MY PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IS ON AND I BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE 2007 TORRENT MODEL HAD (NHTSA REFERENCE #07V344000). IT HAS BEEN ON FOR A WHILE BUT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET - THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME $800 TO FIX IT BUT MY RESEARCH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS FOUND IN THE 2007 RECALL BECAUSE IT WILL TURN THE INDICATOR LIGHT OFF WHEN A HEAVIER PERSON SITS IN THE SEAT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD.

HAVE SENT THIS LETTER TO THE CEO OF GENERAL MOTORS ON 6/3/14. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY. AS IT IS STATED, IN THIS SITUATION WHERE GAS AND ANTIFREEZE WERE MIXING IN THE ENGINE, DUE TO EITHER A SLOW LEAK OR A GASKET BLEW, THE TORRENT WAS NOT BUILT WITH A SENSOR TO TURN ON THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT TO NOTIFY THE DRIVER OF A POTENTIAL SERIOUS SITUATION-TOTAL MECHANICAL FAILURE-LEADING TO POTENTIAL FATAL INJURIES WHILE DRIVING-SUCH AS A FIRE, ACCIDENT, OR EVEN DEATH. [XXX] IN REFERENCE TO CLAIM NUMBER [XXX]. I HAVE CALLED AND SPOKEN TO DEAN AT CORPORATE ON 6/3/14 AND THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. 5/30/14, I CALL THE DEALERSHIP FIRST SPOKE TO A FEW PEOPLE AND LEFT MY INFORMATION, I RECEIVED NO PHONE CALL BACK UNTIL I CALLED CORPORATE ON 6/3/14 AND COMPLAINED. I FIND THIS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ESPECIALLY KNOWING THE SITUATION WHERE LIVES WERE POTENTIAL AT RISK, AND OTHERS STILL ARE. THE MAJOR CONCERN WITH MY VEHICLE IS THAT OUT OF NOWHERE WITHOUT WARNING THE ENGINE FAILED. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC THE VEHICLE DOES NOT COME WITH ANY WARNING LIGHT TO NOTIFY THE DRIVER OF THIS SITUATION-THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MY CAR IS A 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE MECHANIC AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT HAS NOW INSPECTED THE CAR, CONCUR THAT THIS IS FROM MECHANICAL FAILURE. AS A MOTHER OF 3 CHILDREN, TO THINK THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT WITH THEM IN THE CARE-POSSIBLY LEADING TO DEATHS?WELL YOU CAN IMAGINE MY CONCERN. AS I AM BLESSED THAT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AND THE CAR JUST DIED, I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A SAFE CAR, AND BEING A WOMAN IN YOUR POSITION I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND MY POSITION AND WILL DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STEERING WHEEL AND IGNITION SWITCH FREEZING UP, INTERMITTENTLY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE TIMES, WHEN THE KEY WOULDN'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITION.
DRIVING AND HAD TO STOP FAST. WHEN SAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND THE SES LIGHT WAS ON. HAD SEVERAL TROUBLE CODES INCLUDING P0700. WAS DIAGNOSED BY MECHANIC TO BE THE 3-5 CLUTCH WAVE PLATE. *TR
I HAVE 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT VIN#[XXX], THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL NOT ACTIVATE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE PPS MODULE. I FEEL THAT THIS MODULE SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER A RECALL SINCE GM HAS OUTSTANDING RECALLS WITH SAME MODEL VEHICLES PRIOR TO THE 2008 MODEL, I BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD DEFECTIVE MODULE INSTALLED AND GM SHOULD BE MADE TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT...HARD TO STEER. HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. WITH THE RECALL ON OTHER PONTIAC MODELS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, I'M THINKING MAYBE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONTAL SENDING UNITS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:07V344000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND OFF EVEN WHEN MY SISTER WHO IS APPROX. 140LBS SITTING IN PSGR SEAT. THIS WAS RECALLED FOR 2007 BUT SHOULD ADD 2008. THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY BUILT AS LIMITED EDITION BETWEEN 2007 AND 2008. WE HAD A REAR END AND FRONT END COLLISION AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN CAR WAS TOTAL IN BACK END. WE WERE ACTUALLY HIT AND PUSHED ON TOP OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF US TO THE MIDDLE OF HER ROOF. THEY REPAIRS CAR AT DEALER AND STILL AIR BAG LIGHT AND RESET SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL GOES OFF AND ON WHETHER SOMEONE SITTING THERE OR NOT. DANGERIOUS..... THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND IMPACT WAS A PICKUP TRUCK 1992 HEAVY DUTY HIT US AT APPROX. 60 MPH. HE NEVER HIT BREAKS AND WE KEPT GOING TIL I WAS STOPPED ON THE ROOF OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. WE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. SISTER AFTER TWO YEARS IS STILL SUFFERING PERM INJURIES FOR LIFE. I SUFFERED AND HAVE A PERM BRACE ON FOOT FROM HITTING BREAK TWICE REALLY HARD. #1 IS MY CAR DAMAGED IN REAR, #2 IS THE TRUCK WHO HIT US, #3 IS THAT TIRE CAME OUT OF THE BACK OF TRUCK ON IMPACT....THRU THE WINDOW... PROOF OF HOW HARD WE WERE HIT WITH INJURES. THEY TRANSPORTED TO HOSP OTHER DRIVER, I THOUGHT I WAS OK BUT WAS IN SHOCK AND ONLY WORRIED ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE. NEXT DAY WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES AS WELL AS SISTER TREATED AND STILL ON GOING.
LEFT SIDE WINDOWS AND LOCKS WILL NOT OPEN WITH KEY OR REMOTE PERIODICALLY. AIR BAG LIGHT OFF WHEN SITTING AND COMES ON WHEN NO ONE ON PASNGR SIDE. CAR WAS REAR ENDED AND FRONT ENDED BUT FERRMAN STATED THEY FIXED PROPERLY. DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS WORKED FINE BEFORE THAT AND AIR BAG HAS BEEN A PROBLEM BUT STATING I HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS. I FEEL THAT THERE ARE ENOUGH AIR BAG RECALLS TO ADD THE 2008 TO THE LIST OF 2007 ONES. THIS VEHICLE IS A LIMITED EDITION. ONLY TWO YRS MADE. PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO GET NOW. THESE ARE MANUFACTURED DEFECTS SINCE I HAD THE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK CHANGED ON THE DRIVERS DOOR AT COST OF OVER $400.00. AND STILL DOENST WORK AGAIN. AFTER DRIVING A FEW BLOCKS AND STOP MY DOORS AND WINDOWS OPEN PROPERLY. I THINK THEY WERE JARRED IN THE ACCIDENT AND FIXED BY FERMAN PROPERLY IN FL. WE WERE REAR AND FRONT ENDED AND WE WERE STOPPED AND THE TRUCK HIT US AT APPROX. 60 MILES PER HR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE SERVICE STABILITYTRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION AND THE WARNING LAMPS WERE NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,500.
I NOTICED EVERY TIME SOMEONE WOULD SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIRBAG SERVICE BAG MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR THE OFF BUTTON WOULD NOT SWITCH TO ON. I CHECKED TO SEE IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED AND NOTICED THE 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY 2008. I TRIED REACHING OUT TO GM WHICH I KNOW WILL TURN OUT AS A FAIL. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE ON THEIR 2008 GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THE 2007 WAS RECALLED. I WAS QUOTED AROUND $900 TO FIX FROM THE DEALER AFTER I WAS ADVISED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF GM TO GET IT TESTED BY THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD FURTHER ASSIST ME IF POSSIBLE. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR STAYS OFF EVEN WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER AND "SERVICE AIR BAG" COMES ON IN THE DRIVER INFO PANEL ON DASH. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT THE SENSOR WOULD FLASH BETWEEN ON AND OFF WITH A PASSENGER OCCUPYING THE SEAT AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS THE SENSOR NO LONGER COMES ON. *TR

REPORTED VERY SLUGGISH ACCELERATION "CHUGGING" BETWEEN 45-65 MPH FOR THE LAST YEAR. NO ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY "COULDN'T RECREATE IT" SO NOTHING DONE. *TR
I HAVE 2008 PONTIAC TORRENT VIN#[XXX], THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL NOT ACTIVATE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE PPS MODULE. I FEEL THAT THIS MODULE SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER A RECALL SINCE GM HAS OUTSTANDING RECALLS WITH SAME MODEL VEHICLES PRIOR TO THE 2008 MODEL, I BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD DEFECTIVE MODULE INSTALLED AND GM SHOULD BE MADE TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. I HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES VERY EARLY ON DUE TO PREMATURE WEAR (I THINK ABOUT 35K MILES) SO THAT IS THE FIRST ISSUE. AFTER CHANGING MY TIRES, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE'S TRACTION CONTROL SEEMS TO FAIL. I WILL BE AT A DEAD STOP AND GO TO ACCELERATE WHEN MY TIRES SLIP AND THE TRACTION FLASHES. I HAD MY TIRES LOOKED AT AND THEY WERE DEEMED TO BE FINE. NOW THAT IT IS SNOWING, IT WAS AT ITS WORST TODAY. IT WAS FISHTAILING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON SNOW/ICY ROADS AND THE TIRES WON'T GRIP THE ROAD AT ALL FOR THE FIRST 400 FEET OR SO EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO FROM A STOP. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE. I FELT MORE COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY PONTIAC VIBE OR GRAND AM IN SNOW THAN THIS AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE TRACTION CONTROL!! THERE IS A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I HAVE A FULL TANK OR ALMOST EMPTY TANK OF GAS. THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS ANYWHERE. I AM A MOTHER OF TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. *TR
THE FIRST NIGHT I NOTICED THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE NEXT NIGHT MY BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED AND I HAD TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. THEN, THE DASHBOARD SAID "SERVICE STABILITRAK" SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON OR IT SAID "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL." FROM WHAT I'M GATHERING ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO MY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT COMING ON AND MY SPEED WILL BE LIMITED TO SOMETHING LIKE 10-20 MPH AND I'M AFRAID BECAUSE I ALREADY WORK OVERNIGHT AND AWAY FROM HOME. I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 56K MILES ON THE TRUCK AND I GOT IT A YEAR AGO WITH 24K MILES ON IT. IF THE PROBLEM IS THIS COMMON, WHY IS THE VEHICLE NOT RECALLED? THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR SHOWS TO BE OFF WHEN THE SITE IS OCCUPIED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED NOTHING IS WRONG. I'VE HAS SEVERAL PASSENGERS THAT WEIGH OVER 150 LBS PLUS OCCUPY THE SEAT AND THE INDICATOR SHOWS OFF. I'M VERY CONCERNED NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS ALSO I'M HAVE GASOLINE SMELLS IN THE CAR BUT THE 2008 PONTIAC TORRENTS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE 2007'S. THE 2007 HAS HAD A RECALL ISSUED ON IT BUT NOT THE 2008 WHICH SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM, JUST NOT FIXED DUE TO THE NAMEPLATE GOING UNDER. I CALLED BACK HOME TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I SHOULD BE OKAY UNTIL I GOT HOME, THAT I ONLY NEEDED TO BE CONCERNED IF THE ROADS WERE WET. IT WAS ON THE ENTIRE TRIP AND BY THE TIME I GOT HOME AND WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT TURNED OFF. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY. NOW IT COMES ON WHENEVER IT WANTS TO AND STAYS ON FOR DAYS. THEN IT GOES OFF FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN COMES ON AGAIN. NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHAT CAUSES IT. I'M CONCERNED THAT IT MAY BE CAUSING A BIGGER PROBLEM. NOT HAPPY THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY RESOLVE TO THIS.
