TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN THE VEHICLE WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP. HE WAS ADVISED THAT NO COMPLAINTS WERE FILED RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALER AND PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH TOYOTA AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT MANUFACTURE THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3760. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
2004 VIBE HAD A RECALL FOR THE POPPING OF THE DRIVERS' SIDE WINDOW. TOOK IT 3 TIMES TO D & G PONTIAC IN PORT JERVIS. PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS. WINDOW GOT STUCK THEN WENT OFF TRACK. TOOK IT TO ROYAL PONTIAC IN SUSSEX, NJ AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T THE RECALL PROBLEM. IT'S STILL NOT FIXED. I HAVE TO PAY OVER $100 TO HAVE IT FIXED WHEN I FEEL IT STILL IS A DEFECT PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, LOOKING OVER THE COMPLAINTS, PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS FOR PONTIAC ARE SAYING THAT IT'S NOT A RECALL PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT ROYAL PONTIAC BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
1. CLATTERING/GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM 5-SP. MANUAL TRANSMISSION, SLOWLY GROWING LOUDER. SUDDEN CHANGE IN SOUND AND 35 MILES LATER... 2. ... TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP AT INTERSECTION. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PUSHED; HAD TO BE TOWED. 3. NEW TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH INSTALLED. OLD PARTS STILL AVAILABLE. *TR
MY PASSENGER WINDOW KEPT FALLING, ONCE THE WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE TO REPLACE THE BOLTS. THIS WAS COMPLETED IN MAY 2009. TODAY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN AND WAS ROLLING IT BACK UP AND IT BECAME COMPLETELY DISLODGED, TO THE POINT THE ENTIRE WINDOW CAME OUT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK INTO THE DOOR. THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAVE ALREADY "FIXED". THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO CHARGE ME $675 WINDOW DID NOT END UP SHATTERING, BUT THEY SAID ENTIRE WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL HOWEVER IT'S THE SAME ISSUE AS TWICE BEFORE. THE DEALER SAID THE BOLTS AND SASH ARE FAULTY, BUT SOMETHING ELSE HAS TO BE WRONG FOR THIS TO CONTINUE HAPPENING. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE FAULTY "GUIDES" FOR THE GLASS.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (NOTICE 07273) FROM PONTIAC INFORMING ME THAT MY WINDOWS HAD THE POTENTIAL TO SHATTER. THAT EXPLAINED WHY THE WINDOWS RATTLED AND I HEARD A LOUD METALLIC CLANKING SOUND EVERY TIME I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY PERFORMED THE NEEDED SERVICE. THEY LIED. THE DEALER FAKED THE REPAIR. THE WINDOWS STILL RATTLE AND THE METALLIC CLANK (THINK OF TAKING A WRENCH IN EACH HAND AND SMASHING THEM TOGETHER) IS STILL THERE EVERY TIME I OPEN THE WINDOW. THE DEALER WHO FAKED THE REPAIR SAYS THEY'VE DONE ALL THAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO. I'M LEFT WITH WINDOWS THAT PONTIAC SAYS COULD SHATTER AT ANY TIME. *TR
VEHICLE ACCELERATED(RESUMED) TO BEYOND THE PREVIOUS SPEED SETTING, UNTIL I DISABLED THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATES WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INPUT. WAS CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INPUT. THIS FAILURE HAS OCCURRED 2 TIMES IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS NOT EASILY REPEATED AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MAKES A POPPING SOUND WHEN ROLLED DOWN. MY INDICATIONS WERE IDENTICAL TO COMPLAINT 10245483. I DETERMINED THE DOOR STRAP WAS HITTING THE GLASS WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. I REMOVED THE STRAP AND GROUND THE T SHAPED METAL AS INSTRUCTED IN THE ABOVE COMPLAINT (SEE MY COMPLAINT #10269413). THIS ELIMINATED THE LOUD POPPING SOUND BUT I STILL HAD SOME SCRAPING NOISE. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET A NEW RETAINING STRAP. I WAS QUOTED $175.00. I ASKED TO LOOK AT IT AND DISCOVERED THE DESIGN IS DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE ON MY VEHICLE. THE T BRACKET IS NO LONGER SQUARE AND THE EDGE FACING THE GLASS IS NOW AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. I REMOVED THE STRAP ONCE AGAIN AND GROUND THE BRACKET TO 45 DEG. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. PONTIAC APPARENTLY HAS RECOGNIZED THIS PROBLEM AND HAS CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THIS BRACKET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE DOOR HANDLE MALFUNCTIONED AND ALL OF THE DOORS COULD ONLY BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE, EXCEPT THE DRIVERS OUTSIDE DOOR. THE MANUFACTURER FILED REPORT 71-875-784-739 AND ADVISED THAT THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED REPORTS CONCERNING THE FAILURE AND WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK DOES NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR IF YOU USE THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK IT MANUALLY. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN USING CAR SEATS AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET THEM OUT IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE , THE HEAD LAMPS AND BRAKE LAMPS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND THE FUSES ARE FINE THE REAR CENTER BRAKE LIGHT STILL WORKS AND THE BRIGHTS OF THE HEAD LAMPS STILL WORK. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER INCIDENTS? AND THE RADIO DISPLAY HAS STOPPED WORKING ALSO , I HAVE ALSO HEARD ABOUT THAT FROM OTHER PONTIAC OWNERS. *TR
MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND PASSENGER WINDOW KEPT FALLING. ONCE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE TO REPLACE THE BOLTS. THIS WAS COMPLETED IN MAY 2008. TODAY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN AND WAS ROLLING IT BACK UP AND IT BECAME COMPLETELY DISLODGED, TO THE POINT THE ENTIRE WINDOW CAME OUT. I EVEN SAW "BLACK GLUE (POSS CEMENT)" ON THE BOTTOM IF THE GLASS. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK INTO THE DOOR, BUT IT DID NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP. SO NOW IT IS RAINING (SEVERELY) AND MY WINDOW WONT ROLL UP AGAIN. I AM JUST WONDERING IF THEY ARE GOING TO TRY AND CHARGE ME AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAVE ALREADY "FIXED". THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO CHARGE MY INSURANCE IN 2008 FOR THE WINDOW SHATTERING, BUT THEY RECEIVED THEIR CLAIM FUNDS BACK AFTER THE RECALL NOTICE. THEY (GM) SAID IT'S THE BOLTS, BUT SOMETHING ELSE HAS TO BE WRONG FOR THIS TO CONTINUE HAPPENING. ALSO, PART OF THE PROBLEM MAY BE FAULTY TRIM THAT "GUIDES" THE GLASS. MINE HAS BEEN SCRUNCHED IN PARTS SINCE I RECEIVED IT. *TR

2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE FACTORY INSTALLED SUNROOF BLEW OFF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY BECOME UNRESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY SON WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THEY REAR ENDED AN SUV WHILE GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. BOTH BOYS WERE WEARING THERE SEATBELTS AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. BUT THE IMPACT OF THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD. IT DID NOT GO COMPLETELY THROUGH BUT THE FROM THE CENTER OF IMPACT OUTWARD THE AREA COVERS THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE, AND THERE WAS GLASS SPLINTERS ARE ALL OVER THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE DASH AND THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE TROOPER AT THE SCENE SAID THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE WITH THE WINDSHIELD LIKE THAT. THE PASSENGER DID NOT HAVE ANY IMPACT WITH THE AIRBAG. LOOKING FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY HOW THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED STRAIGHT INTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE BODY DAMAGE WAS TO THE FRONT BUMPER, HOOD, FRONT PASSENGER SIDE PANEL, BUT THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE OUTSIDE COLLISION ONLY THE FORCE OF THE AIRBAG. *TR
IF THE AIR RECIRCULATION BUTTON IS DISABLED AND THE POWER TO THE CAR IS ON, A CLICKING NOSE BEGINS. THE CLICKS OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY THAN EVERY SECOND, CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL THE CAR IS POWERED OFF. THE CLICKING WILL CONTINUE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. THE SOURCE OF THE CLICKING IS THE ACTUATOR THAT OPENS OR CLOSES THE AIR RECIRCULATION VENT BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. *TR
2004 PONTIAC VIBE ORIGINAL TIRES WORN OUT BY 24000 MILES, SECOND SET HAD SEVERE VIBRATION UNABLE TO FIX AND WORN OUT 38K, DEALER ALIGNED AND PUT IN SHIM, 3RD SET TIRES SAME PROBLEM SEVERE VIBRATION AND NOISE JUST UNDER 50K MILES. TIRE SHOP SAID PROB WITH CAR AND SUSPENSION, KEEPS CUPPING TIRES. *TR
AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE FRONT SIDE WINDOW ON OUR 2004 PONTIAC VIBE THE WINDOW BECAME MISALIGNED AFTER MAKING A NOISE. WE HAD AN APPT FOR THE MORNING OF 7/31/08 FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WE HAD GOTTEN THE WINDOW MANUALLY BACK IN THE TRACK AND THE WINDOW WAS SHUT. WHEN SHUTTING THE DOOR THE WINDOW SHATTERED ON MY DAUGHTER CUTTING HER LEGS. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE BREAKAGE WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL OR WARRANTY AND CANCELED THE APPOINTMENT TO ORDER THE GLASS. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW WHEN AN INCIDENT HAPPENS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL ON THE WAY THE HAVE THE REPAIR DONE THE RECALL DOES NOT COVER THE INCIDENT AND TO HAVE AN INJURY INVOLVED AS WELL. *TR
WE HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THE LOCAL PONTIAC DEALERSHIP, WHEN THEY FINALLY FIXED THE RECALL PROBLEM ON OUR 2004 VIBE, THEY DAMAGED OTHER PARTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. AFTER WE ARRIVED TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US FOR THE DAMAGE THEY CAUSED DURING THE INITIAL RECALL REPAIR. *TR
WINDOW ON PONTIAC VIBE OPENED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. TOOK IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER WITH THE RECALL LETTER STATING THE BOLTS WOULD COME LOSE AND THE WINDOW WOULD COME OFF THE REGULATOR AND COULD SHATTER. THE WINDOW CAME OFF THE REGULATOR BUT DIDN'T SHATTER. THEY TOLD ME THE TRACK WAS DAMAGED AND IT WOULD COST ME ALMOST $600. TO FIX. GM ARGUED THAT BECAUSE IT DIDN'T BREAK HOW IT WAS EXPECTED, IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT IS EXPERIENCING FAILURE WITH THE WINDOWS ON HIS VEHICLE. WHEN HE ROLLS DOWN THE WINDOWS, IT SOUNDS AS IF A TWELVE GAUGE SHOTGUN WAS FIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V162000 (VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER HEARD THE NOISE, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES AND IS SCHEDULED FOR ITS FOURTH REPAIR NEXT WEEK. I DRIVE A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. I WOULD ROLL THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW AND IT WOULD MAKE A POPPING SOUND. BEFORE I COULD GET IT FIXED I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM PONTIAC FOR THE DOOR BOLTS. SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BOLTS AND IT STILL MADE THE NOISE. WITH THIS I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I FOUND IT WAS THE DOOR CHECK CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT WAS HITTING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW,PUSHING THE DOOR CHECK DOWN MAKING IT SNAP BACK UP AND HIT THE WINDOW WITH THE CORNER OF THE CHECK. I MAKE MY LIVING AS A FIREFIGHTER I KNOW HOW CAR WINDOWS BREAK AND I AM AMAZED THAT IT HADN'T BROKEN! I REPLACED THE PART BEFORE IT HAD A CHANCE TO BREAK THE WINDOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, IT MAKES A CLICKING SOUND. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE NOISE IS TO TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING TO THE MAXIMUM SETTING. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,260 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,250.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V162000 (VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR). HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TESTED HIS WINDOWS BEFORE LEAVING THE DEALER ALONG WITH A SALESPERSON. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDOWS WERE STILL MAKING A POPPING NOISE AS IF THEY WERE ABOUT TO SHATTER. THE SALESPERSON ALMOST JUMPED INTO THE OTHER SEAT WHEN HE TESTED THE WINDOW. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
AN '04 PONTIAC VIBE WELL MAINTAINED STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE LOSING COMPLETE POWER MOMENTARILY WITH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING, AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS (APPROXIMATELY 20-30 SECONDS) WOULD START BACK ON WHILE CAR IS STILL RUNNING. THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF A FUSIBLE WIRE LINK SHORTED, MELTING THE FUSE BLOCK AND DAMAGING THE BATTERY WHICH ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTING IN THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY FAILS. IN A ONE MONTH PERIOD, SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE BULBS TWICE. AS A CONSEQUENCE, HER VISIBILITY IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 100,000. MY 18 YR SON WAS DRIVING OUR 2004 PONTIAC VIBE HOME IN RUSH HOUR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC ON A CURVY, MOUNTAINOUS, TWO LANE ROAD ON STATE ROUTE 4 IN (NEAR WHITE ROCK) IN THE LOS ALAMOS NM AREA AROUND 4PM. HE WAS DRIVING UNDER 55 MPH AND AS HE ROUNDED ONE OF THE CURVES, HE WAS UNABLE TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD AND IT RAN STRAIGHT OFF THE ROAD(TO THE RIGHT), INSTEAD OF TURNING, OVER HEAVY BRUSH AND SEVERAL IRON FENCE POSTS. HE HAS ALWAYS CLAIMED THE CAR BRAKES AND STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE MANY ADULT WITNESSES CONFIRMED THE CAR "SUDDENLY VEERED OFF" FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THE TRACKS INDICATED THE CAR REMAINED IN A STRAIGHT LINE THE ENTIRE TIME. THE AIR BAG WAS NOT DEPLOYED. I HAD NOTICED THE CAR SOMETIMES WASN'T TRACKING WELL ON TURNS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE GAS TANK WAS LOW. THE ADULT WITNESSES ALL COMMENDED OUR SON ON HIS DRIVING ABILITY AS HE AVOIDED HITTING OTHER CARS. A DRIVER IN THE HUMMER BEHIND HIM ASSURED US THAT "SOMETHING MUST HAVE HAPPENED WITH THE CAR - NOT HIS FAULT -TOO SUDDEN - MIRACLE HE DIDN'T ROLL ." THE HUMMER DRIVER HAD BEEN BEHIND OUR SON FOR SOME TIME. THE (STATE FARM)INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR. WE LIKE THE VIBE AND PURCHASED A 2009 REPLACEMENT. WE ASSUMED THAT OUR SON'S INEXPERIENCE AND YOUTH WERE MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS, BUT THAT SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH CAR DUE TO STRAIGHT TIRE TRACKS AND WITNESS STATEMENTS. THE EXAMINATION OF THE CAR FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING PUMP AFTER THE ACCIDENT, BUT EXTENSIVE DAMAGE UNDERNEATH PREVENTED ANY REAL ANALYSIS. MY SON REMAINS ACCIDENT FREE WITH THIS EXCEPTION AND HAS ONLY 1 SPEEDING TICKET RECEIVED THIS YEAR. WE HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO RESEARCH THESE TYPE OF ACCIDENTS WITH VIBE/MATRIX. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE STEERING AND DRIVE THE NEW VIBE MORE GENTLY, BUT LOVE GETTING OVER 30 MPG.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING TO A DR. APPT IN BOSTON FROM GLOUCESTER. THE CAR HYDROPLANED HITTING THE JERSEY BARRIER, SPINNING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET HITTING THE GUARDRAIL, AND FURTHER SPINNING TO HIT THE JERSEY BARRIER AGAIN TOTALING THE CAR. THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT AS MUCH AS IT IS INFO FOR TAKING US OFF YOUR RECALL LIST. WE NO LONGER OWN THE VIBE. I AM A RESIDENT OF CANADA BUT THINK YOU SHOULD HERE MY COMPLAINT. WE HAVE HEARD A CLICKING NOISE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW OF OUR 2004 PONTIAC VIBE. OUR WARRANTY WAS UP 3 MONTHS AGO DUE TO TIMING. THERE IS STILL ONLY 35000MILES ON VEHICLE. WE DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR AND CONTACTED G.M. CANADA THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT, HAVE NOT HEARD BACK.
