WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND I HAVE HAD MANY NEAR MISS INCIDENTS WHERE BRIGHTER LIGHTS WOULD HAVE PREVENTED SUCH SITUATIONS. WHEN REPORTED TO DODGE THEY SAID THIS IS A COMMON KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD REPORT IT. THE DIMNESS OF THE LIGHTS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHICH MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS. *TR
IN MARCH I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THE ABOVE PARTS AND THAT A CRASH COLD OCCUR IF NOT REPAIRED. I MADE SEVERAL PHONE CALLS TO CHRYSLER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WERE WORKING ON IT AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ON WHEN THEY WOULD MAKE THE REPAIR. I FEEL THAT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY RECALL IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 9 MONTHS FOR THEM TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION AND MAKE THE REPAIR. *TR

RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE N08/NHTSA 13V-038 EARLY IN 2013. CHECKED WITH MY DEALER AS INSTRUCTED AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. IF THIS PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED, I WOULD THINK THE PEOPLE INVOLVED WOULD BE MORE PRONE TO GETTING IT DONE. *TR
WIPER BLADES FREEZE SOLID AS SOON AS THEY GET SNOW OR WATER ON THEM IN COLD WEATHER. THEY INSTANTLY BECOME USELESS AND UNSAFE. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THESE WIPERS AS THERE IS NO WAY TO STOP THEM FROM DOING THIS. THEY ARE SO FROZEN THEY DON'T EVEN TOUCH THE WINDSHIELD. IT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE SAFELY IN COLD, WET WEATHER. *TR

I RAN INTO THIS ISSUE LAST WINTER AND WHEN THE WEATHER WARMED UP IT WENT AWAY. NOW, AGAIN IN DECEMEBER, WHEN FUELING THE TRUCK AT THE PUMP, AFTER IT REACHES FULL CAPACITY IT SPITS FUEL BACK OUT ALL OVER THE TRUCK AND ONTO THE GROUND. DOES IT AT EVERY PUMP. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT LAST YEAR AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE WITH OTHER DODGE AND JEEP MODELS. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK USED A FEW MONTHS AGO AND GAS SPLASHES OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE IF YOU TRY TO FILL UP THE TANK, AFTER THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE CLICKS OFF, A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF GAS COMES BACK OUT, I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS A NOZZLE PROBLEM AT THE PUMP BUT REALIZED IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK AFTER TRYING SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. *TR
I HAVE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS WITH ENGINE AND ETC BOLT LIGHT ON DASH, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO IN LIMP MODE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE TRUCK HAD TO BE RESET. ON SEPT 21/2012 THE ETC BOLT LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN CITY DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN I SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC USING THE BRAKE I LET OFF THE BRAKE AND BEFORE I COULD DO ANYTHING THE TRUCK RACED OFF ON ITS OWN ALMOST CAUSING A ACCIDENT WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE GAS, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON. I TURNED OFF KEY AND DANGEROUSLY COASTED TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND RE STARTED THE TRUCK. AT THIS POINT I HAD ONLY ENGINE LIGHT SO I TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY REPLACED GAS PEDAL AND RESET IT. THE TRUCK ALWAYS SCARED ME AFTER THIS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A GREAT DANGER WITH THE NEW WIRELESS DRIVE SYSTEM.THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT BUY THE BUILDER OF THIS TRUCK. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE THAT THE REAR AXLE TRACTION CONTROL SEEMS TO CONSTANTLY SLIP WHEN ACCELERATING AT ANY SPEED, I FIRST THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT IT IS ALWAYS ENGAGING NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOUR DOING. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF SURFACE YOUR DRIVING ON. I'VE TRIED IT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AND THE TRUCK SEEMS TO BE OK, I DON;T THINK THE ANTI SLIP AXLE IS WORKING PROPERLY. *TR
I HAD TWO ALMOST FATAL ACCIDENTS AS THE RESULT OF THE GOOD YEAR WRANGLER HP TIRES I HAD ON MY 2001 DODGE TRUCK. GOOD YEAR HAD ME SEND ON EACH EVENT THE TIRES THAT CREATED A BLOW OUT, FOR NO REASON AT ALL, THEY EVEN HAD ME COMPLETE A FULL PROPER DAMAGE CLAIM BECAUSE THEY WERE SETTLING ON THESE TIRES AND ALL THE ISSUES PEOPLE HAVE. MY CASE WAS AUTOMATICALLY DENIED, THEY TOLD ME THAT IN BOTH CASES I RAN OVER SOMETHING, BUT ADMITTED THAT THEY NEVER LOOKED AT THE TIRE, THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME. SO, THE AUTO DENY EVERYONE, I GUESS BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE DIED AS THE RESULT TO THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT (TIRES), I HAVE REPLACED ALL MY TIRES WITH MICHELINS AND HAVE INCURRED AN OUT OF PACKET EXPENSE OF $2500, FOR TIRES AND DAMAGES. THE MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE; BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THAT GOOD YEAR NEEDS TO RECALL THE TIRES, OR IS THE PERCENT OF DEATHS OR INJURIES WITHIN THEIR ALLOWED THRESHOLD? WHO MAKES THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR A BAD PRODUCT THAT WILL KILL AND HURT MORE PEOPLE, FAMILY AND CHILDREN? I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT TAKES FOR SOMEONE TO STAND UP AND SAY TO THE LARGE CORPS OF THE WORLD THAT THEY NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE AND THAT THEY NEED AND SHOULD RECALL THESE TIRES, NOT JUST PROVIDE SMALL SETTLEMENTS FOR DAMAGES, BUT DO SOMETHING THAT WILL SAVE LIVES,,, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO BE HEARD,, PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THE FACTS AND DANGERS OF THESE TIRES. *TR

THE FAILURE HOWEVER, PERSISTED ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A 17 INCH TEMPORARY TIRE, WHEN ALL OF THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE ARE 20 INCH TIRES. THE CONSUMER STATED SENSOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IF THE TIRES ARE NOT THE SAME SIZE, TYPE AND STYLE. THE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM MAY READ ZERO IF ONE OF THE TIRES ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER THREE. ADDITIONALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A GRINDING AND SQUEAKING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO ACT IN THAT MANNER AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT WAS LEAVING AN INTERSECTION AT 35 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AS A VEHICLE ATTEMPTED A LEFT TURN IN FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY AND DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD SEND AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE BRAKE FAILURE ONCE PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.

CONSUMER STATES WHEN HIGH BEAMS ARE TURNED ON LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER HAD HIM SHINE THE LIGHTS ONTO AN OPEN WALL, AND ONLY THE HIGH BEAMS HIT THE WALL WHEN THEY WERE TURNED ON. 2011 DODGE RAM 1500 . CONSUMER STATES DEALER REFUSED REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK, UPON START UP. ALSO, THE VEHICLE ROLLED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO 100 MPH. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PUT THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MOMENTS THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ALSO ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO THE LIMP MODE. IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER FAILURES, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY LUNGED FORWARD WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTIONS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,100.

DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THAT I DRIVE 3-4 TIMES A WEEK,WITHOUT WARNING THE TRUCK SHOOK VERY VIOLENTLY. COULD NOT KEEP IN MY LANE,IT SHOOK UNTIL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I INSPECTED WHEELS AND RELATED PARTS COULD FIND NO ISSUES. I CARRY A WHEELCHAIR WITH ME AS I HAVE BROKEN MY NECK IN 8 PLACES WITH NERVE DAMAGE AND CAN NOT BE OPERATED ON, I CAN WALK FOR VERY SHORT DISTANCES ONLY. IF I HAD BEEN IN TRAFFIC I COULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AND DUE TO MY PHYSICAL CONDITION COULD HAVE BEEN PARALYZED OR WORST. MY TRUCK COST $57,000 AND I HAVE ONLY MADE 5 PAYMENTS. I PURCHASED THIS UNIT BECAUSE IT RODE GOOD FOR MY CONDITION,PLUS COULD CARRY MY WHEELCHAIR. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I SPENT MONEY ON NEW BECAUSE I NEEDED DEPENDABILITY AS I CAN NOT WALK IF IT BREAKS. WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP IF YOU MOMENTARILY HOLD YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU RELEASE THE BRAKE THE CAR BEGINS FORWARD THEN ALL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND CAR SHUTS DOWN FROM 1 TO 10 SECONDS. IF YOU ARE PULLING INTO A BUSY ROAD WHERE YOU MIGHT MOMENTARILY SPIN THE ENGINE UP IN ORDER TO HAVE BETTER RESPONSE YOU ARE LEFT STUCK OUT IN THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. ALSO HAPPENS IF YOU ARE TOWING ON AN INCLINE AND YOU SPIN UP ENGINE BEFORE RELEASING FOOT BRAKE. YOU WOULD DO THIS IN ORDER TO NOT ROLL BACK. THEY SAID THE CODE SAYS YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE WITH 2 FEAT. I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD HAPPEN THEY SAY IT'S NORMAL. VERY DANGEROUS. HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THIS HAS OCCURRED. *TR
TURNING LEFT ONTO A STREET THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AXEL BROKE OFF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED AND SKIDDED TO A NEARLY IMMEDIATE STOP WITH NO NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME AS IT SURELY WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. IMMEDIATELY, A STRONG FOUL SMELL AND SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND LIFTING THE HOOD, THE SMOKE DISSIPATED IMMEDIATELY, BUT I FOUND LATER THAT PUTTING THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO AFFECT. EVEN PLACING THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL WOULD NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO ROLL. THE TRUCK REQUIRED A FLATBED TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP AS THE REAR WHEELS WOULD NOT EASILY ROLL FORWARD, AND WOULD NOT ROLL IN REVERSE. THE TOW DRIVER NEEDED TO PLACE THE REAR WHEELS ON SKIDS AND SLIDE THE TRUCK OFF THE FLATBED. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THEY NEEDED TO FORCIBLY MANIPULATE THE TRANSFER CASE TO GET THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AS IT WAS SEIZED. THEY HAVE FOUND THAT THE C2 AND UNDERDRIVE CLUTCHES ARE BOTH COMPLETELY DESTROYED, AND THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION OIL AND PAN. THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A COMPLETELY DESTROYED CLUTCH ON ANY LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WAS SEALED, AND PRESSURE TESTED AS EXPECTED. THEY ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING FOR ROOT CAUSE AND TO BOUND THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. THE TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE SAFETY FEATURES OF BOTH A "LIMP MODE" FOR THE TRANSMISSION, AS WELL AS A FURTHER SAFETY FEATURE TO GO INTO NEUTRAL IN SUCH CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, BOTH SAFETY MECHANISMS FAILED IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION. MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS FAILING IN SUCH A WAY, AND YET IT IS LIKELY (ALREADY POSITIONING WITHOUT ROOT CAUSE) THAT CHRYSLER WILL WANT TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION RATHER THAN REPLACE IT AS THEY SHOULD. I'M NOT CONFIDENT THAT THIS TRANSMISSION CAN BE REPAIRED SUCH THAT IT WILL NOT FAIL AGAIN IN SHORT ORDER. DANGEROUS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE TURNING SIGNALS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON THREE OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RECTIFIED. MY RAM 1500 INEXPLICABLY CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND AFTER SITTING OUTSIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED, AS WERE THE BED COVER, THE TAILGATE, AND THE RAM BOXES. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE BED OR RAMBOXES. WE WERE ALERTED TO THE FIRE AT AROUND 6 AM BY 1) AN EXPLOSION AND 2) NEIGHBOR ALERT. WHEN WE WENT OUTSIDE THE TRUCK'S BED WAS ENGULFED IN FIRE, AND THE FIRE LOOKED TO BE FROM UNDERNEATH AND COMING UP AROUND THE BED. THE EXPLOSION WAS EITHER THE SPARE TIRE OR THE GAS TANK. WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE ENTIRE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED, AND COMPLETELY BURNED/MELTED, ETC., WITHIN 25 OR SO MINUTES WHEN THE FIRE DEPT. FINALLY ARRIVED TO PUT IT OUT. THE FIRE MARSHAL DECLARED THAT THE CAUSE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED, AS DID THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S LAB AFTER THEY EXAMINED THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. WE LIVE IN A GATED, VIDEO MONITORED SMALL COMMUNITY AND REVIEW OF THE TAPES SHOWED NO STRANGE ACTIVITY. THERE IS NO HISTORY OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY IN THIS AREA, AND CERTAINLY NO ARSON. THE GROUND SURROUNDING THE TRUCK WAS WET (IT WAS PARKED ON A CONCRETE PARKING SPACE) AS THE SPRINKLERS HAD RECENTLY RUN (GRASS, SHRUBS). REALLY NOT SURE IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE RAM, BUT GIVEN THAT ARSON ALSO SEEMS VERY UNLIKELY I THOUGHT WE SHOULD DOCUMENT THIS IN CASE THERE ARE OTHER EVENTS. *KB
BEGAN WHEN I PURCHASED TRUCK OF INTEGRATED BRAKE FAILURE LATER TURNED INTO BAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, VISOR SHORT, NEW BRAKE CONTROLLER AND LOTS OF HOURS. WHEN STARTING VEHICLE WIPERS COME ON, NO INTERIOR LIGHTS, NO TURN SIGNALS (INSIDE OR OUTSIDE) NO HEAT, NO RADIO NO TRAILER BRAKES. NOW VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DODGE FOR 2 WEEKS. THEY REPLACED, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, WIRING HARNESS, TPMS AND PROBLEM REMAINS. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS NO INDICATORS AND WIPERS CONSTANTLY ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO SELL THE CONTACT A NEW VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT AND THE CONTACT LATER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

BOUGHT NEW. HAD ONLY HAD FEW MONTHS AND ENTIRE DASH HAD TO BE PULLED BECAUSE AIR CONDITIONING COIL EXPLODED AND COATED WINDSHIELD WITH OIL CAUSING DRIVER TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE. VEHICLE WAS KEPT 2 WEEKS FOR THIS. SINCE THEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR NON WORKING AIR CONDITIONER MULTIPLE TIMES AND I AM HAVING TO PAY $100 EACH TIME TO GET SHOP TO EVEN LOOK AT IT AND IT STILL ISN'T WORKING. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT REPAIR PROBLEM. I PAID $2600 FOR MAX CARE WARRANTY AND SHOP WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE IT. STILL SAME PROBLEM. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY A CENT BECAUSE THIS IS ALL THE SAME PROBLEM THAT HAS EXISTED SINCE VEHICLE WAS NEW.
