TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR BEGAN TO BOTH BEEP AND FLASH. THE BEEPING SOUND STOPPED ONCE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OR DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREMIER CAPE COD (460 YARMOUTH RD, HYANNIS, MA 02601, (508) 815-5000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SENSOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000. *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE WAS NOT BUILT PROPERLY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JS *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WINDOWS FAILED TO STAY UP AND ALL THE DOORS FAILED TO REMAIN LOCKED, WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. ALSO, WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY HAS NO FUEL. MOSTLY CRANK NO START, BUT ONCE STALLED WHILE DRIVING CREATING DANGEROUS CONDITION WHILE DRIVING. TESTED FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM AND FOUND FUEL PUMP INTERMITTENTLY NOT GETTING ELECTRICAL POWER. FAILED RELAY ON TIPM.
HYDRAULIC LIFTERS ROLLERS SEIZED AND DAMAGE CAN SHAFT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND A RED THUNDERBOLT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BENCHMARK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 1313 GRANTS MILL WAY, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35210, (205) 957-1313) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE AND FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
WHILE IN MOTION THE VEHICLE STARTED A LOUD GROWL NOISE, IT WAS HESITANT TO ADVANCE, IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS DRAGGING FROM THE BACK WHEELS AND STRUGGLE TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD, I WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. I COULD STOPPED, PARK ON A SIDE STREET AND HAD A MECHANIC COME AND CHECK IT. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLE BEARING CLENCHED, THE ADVICE WAS NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYMORE AS IT REPRESENTED A SAFETY HAZARD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE ROCKER PANELS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. *BF*JB
2011 RAM WITH 53,000. METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. DROVE ALL DAY AND SHUT IT OFF. SMELLED LIKE GAS. INSPECTED FOR LEAKS. DIDNT SEE ANY WITH A QUICK LOOK OVER. WENT INOT HOUSE. CAME BACK OUTSIDE 10 MINUTES LATER AND TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. IT WAS PARKED 4 FT AWAY FROM OUR HOUSE AND COULD HAVE BURNT THE WHOLE HOUSE DOWN.
TAKATE RECALL/I I CALLED YOUR OFFICE ABOUT 09/05/18, AND YOUR OFFICE GAVE ME FORD DEALER IN CHATTANOOGA, TN. I CALL THEM ON 09/06/18 , THIR OFFICE SAID THAY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT THE PARTS IN, THAT WAS 80 DAYS AGO ( WAT NOW )

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULTY. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. GRIFFIN DODGE JEEP RAM (1012 HOLLAND AVE, PHILADELPHIA, MS) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
I CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP CONSTANTLY RUNNING HOURS AFTER THE IGNITION HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY TWICE NOW AND IS TRUCK IS SOMETIMES HARD TO CRANK. I CAN FEEL THE TRUCK LOSING POWER WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROADS AND THOUGH IT HAS NOT YET LOST POWER COMPLETELY I FEEL VERY UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING.
MY TRUCK HAS ALWAYS HAD PROPER MAINTENANCE DONE AND AT ONLY 95,000 MILES, THERE IS A LIFTER FAILURE THAT I BELIEVE IS CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE ENGINE. RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF OTHER RAMS WITH THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. HERE IS A LINK TO A FORUM WHERE MULTIPLE RAM OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING.(HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/DODGE/RAM_1500/2011/ENGINE/LIFTER_AND_CAM_ISSUE.SHTML) I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK WAS VIBRATING NOTICEABLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED TO FLASH. I HAD THE CODE READ AND IT TOLD ME MISFIRE, CYLINDER 5. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND AFTER REPLACING SPARK PLUGS, IGNITION COILS, AND FUEL INJECTOR, I AM TOLD IT IS LIFTER FAILURE AND THAT IT IS COMMON IN THESE ENGINES. WHEN THE LIFTER FAILS, IT IS KNOWN TO BORE INTO THE CAMSHAFT, CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR COSTS AN AVERAGE OF $3200 WITH SOME GOING UP TO $4,000. CHYSLER MECHANICS KNOW THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO DO RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS.
FUEL PUMP RELAY WILL NOT ENGAGE AT TIMES. TURNING THE IGNITION KEY SEVERAL TIMES SOLVES ISSUE. FUEL PUMP RELAY WILL NO LONG SHUT OFF THE FUEL PUMP AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO PUMP UNTIL BATTERY IS DRAINED. POSSIBLE SAFETY CONCERNS INCLUDE OVER HEATING OF FUEL PUMP CAUSING A SHORT SHORT IN THE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY LEAD TO THE GAS TANK EXPLODING. VOLTAGE TEST WERE COMPLETED TO VERIFY RELAY IS THE ISSUE. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THE SAME ISSUES WERE PRESENT IN THE 2011 GRAND CARAVANS AND GRAND CHEROKEES, WHICH WHERE RECALLED, RUNNING THE SAME TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE AS MINE AND SEVERAL OTHERS WAS ADDRESS BUT NOT THE OTHER MODELS.
THE VEHICLE STARTED CUTTING OUT HAVING A MISS IN WHAT THE CODE CALLED CYLINDER 3 WE TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE AND THEY TOLD US IT IS THE LIFTER AND THE CAM WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A THUMPING SOUND AND THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
AT 158256 MILES 5.7 HEMI DEVELOPED A MISS FIRE WHILE GOING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. PROBLEM WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY A FAILED LIFTER WHICH REQUIRED MAJOR REPAIR AND COST, CYLINDER HEAD LIFTERS,CAMSHAFT AND ASSOCIATED PARTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $6000.00. AFTER SEEING MULTIPLE REPORTS FROM OTHER OWNERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE I BELIEVE THIS SHOWS POOR QUALITY IN THIS 5.7 HEMI. DODGE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO COMPENSATE AFFECTED OWNERS WHO HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO FIX THIS COSTLY ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO STILL EXISTING LOAN RESPONSIBILITIES. THIS ISSUE INSTANTLY PUTS AN OWNER IN A UPSIDE DOWN POSITION OWNING THE VEHICLE.
THE ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER ON DRIVING AND UPON ACCELERATION THE RPMS INCREASED BUT THE SPEED DID NOT INCREASE - SLIGHT SHUDDERING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. P0305 CODE. UPON REMOVAL OF THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD IT WAS NOTED THAT THE LIFTERS AND CAM SHAFT WAS DAMAGED. ALL LIFTERS AND CAM SHAFT WAS REPLACED WITH MOPAR PARTS. P0305 CODE RE-OCCURED WITHIN 4 WEEKS OF REPAIR.
TRUCK HAS A DEAD SHORT IN THE TIPM. I HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY POST EVERYTIME I STOP. ENGINE WILL CRANK AND TURN OVER BUT OFTEN WILL NOT START. WHEN IT DOES START IT SOMETMES DIES OUT AND/OR HESITATES WHILE DRIVING CREATING A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM DOES IT TAKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM AS A RECALL? THE SAME PART ALREADY HAS A RECALL FOR JEEP AND CHRYSLER. DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FIRST? 119,000 MILES ON A VERY WELL MAINTAINED TRUCK
TRUCK WILL NOT START, IT ACTS AS IF THE VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE ANY FUEL. A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY.
2011 DODGE RAM 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO SAFETY RECALL NO. T79/NHTSA 17V-821. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME COMPLETING THE RECALL REPAIRS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS WITH DICK POE CHRYSLER JEEP (6501 MONTANA AVE, EL PASO, TX 79925, (915) 778-9331), BUT THEY WERE CANCELLED EACH TIME DUE TO PART UNAVAILABILITY. THE RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED MONTHS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE TRAVELING ON A MAJOR PAVED ROADWAY I PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE UP A LARGE HILL. ONCE MY VEHICLE CRESTED THE HILL, MY VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING CONSIDERABLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND USING A SCAN TOOL WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #2. DUE TO THE VEHICLES MILEAGE I CHOSE TO REPLACE ALL THE SPARK PLUGS. AFTER DOING SO I CLEARED THE PREVIOUS LISTED CODE AND DROVE THE TRUCK DOWN THE ROAD. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I AGAIN DROVE IT BACK TO MY HOUSE AND AFTER SCANNING FOR CODES LEARNED THE CYLINDER 2 WAS STILL MISFIRING. I THEN PURCHASED A NEW COIL THINKING THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. I AGAIN CLEARED THE CODE AND DROVE MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD. NO SUCH LUCK. I THEN PULLED THE VALVE COVER OVER THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER AND LEARNED THAT THE ROCKER ARM DID NOT HAVE THE SAME RANGE OF MOTION WHEN I TURNED THE MOTOR OVER AS THE OTHER ROCKERS DID. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE I LEARNED THAT OTHER 5.7L HEMI OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE CAM ROLLERS SEIZE AND WEAR AWAY A GROVE IN THE CAMSHAFT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE MOTOR AND I AM NOT SURE WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE CLASSIC CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT DEALER AT (682) 226-6400, LOCATED AT 1111 I-20 FRONTAGE RD, ARLINGTON, TX 76018 AND IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.
MY TRUCK IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS BEEN FAITHFULLY SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. IT HAS 130K HIGHWAY MILES. DRIVING AWAY FROM DEALERSHIP AFTER ROUTINE OIL & LUBE, I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY AT A NEARBY STOP LIGHT. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CEL ILLUMINATED. ON 19 JUL 2018 I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THE INVOICE/ SERVICE SUMMARY STATES:"CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TEST AND FOUND CYLINDER #3 MISFIRE. SWAP SPARK PLUG, AND COIL. STILL HAS #3 MISFIRE. CAN HEAR POSSABLE LIFTER NOISE. WILL NEED TO TAKE APART ENGINE TO TEST." THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME CAM SHAFT LIFTER WEAR IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 5.7 LITER HEMIS. HE SAID THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL CASES AT THAT DEALERSHIP, AND THERE WERE 70,000 PARTS ON BACK ORDER NATION WIDE RELATED TO THE PROBLEM. HE ALSO TOLD ME THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE $3,500 - $4,000. THE INVOICE TO CHECK THE CEL WAS $122.91. I WAS TOLD IT SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. INTERNET SEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM CONFIRMS IT IS WIDESPREAD. MY ENGINE NOW SPUTTERS AND SHUDDERS WHEN UNDER PRESSURE/ ACCELERATION. CEL HAS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I'M STUCK: CAN'T GET PARTS TO REPAIR, CAN'T SELL/ TRADE IT WITH THIS ISSUE, GROWING MORE CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT. HELP PLEASE.
TOOK MY VEHICLE TO OUTER BANKS CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE,RAM AFTER MAKING APPT AND CONFIRMING THE PART WAS IN FOR THE RECALL18V-160. ADVISED IT WOULD TAKE 2.5 HOURS TO FIX. 7 HOURS LATER WHEN I CALLED TO PICK IT UP THEY ADVISED ME THE PART IS NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR MY YEAR TRUCK. WEBSITE SAYS IT IS. THEY LIED & DIDN'T FIX IT.
MY TRUCK WAS EXPERIENCING THE MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 5, I TOOK IT INTO A DEALERSHIP AND THERE WERE 20 OTHER DODGE HEMI VEHICLES THERE FOR THE SAME PART. THESE LIFTERS ARE ALL ON BACK ORDER, WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ARE SAYING THAT I MAY NOT GET THE LIFTERS FROM BACK ORDER FOR A WHILE. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO WORK AND IF THERE ARE THAT MANY BROKEN LIFTERS IN THE HEMI ENGINES, THEY MUST BE FAULTY!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUSQUEHANNA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (950 HELLAM ST, WRIGHTSVILLE, PA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

ON OR AROUND 06/20/18 I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING MY 2011 DODGE RAM HAD AFEW RECALLS AND I NEEDED TO CONTACT THE NEAREST LOCATION FOR SERVICE. I CONTACTED 3 LOCATIONS ONE IN GEORGETOWN TX ONE IN AUSTIN TX AND ONE IN ROUND ROCK. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME AND NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW WE CAN GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE SITUATION WITH THE VEHICLE GETS WORSE AND CAUSES AND ACCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING AND DURING ACCELERATION VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED CAM SHAFT AND PISTON PROBLEMS. $4,464 AND THERE'S ONLY 103,000 MILES ON ENGINE. I WAS ONLY 3,000 MILES OVER EXTENDED WARRANTY. CHECKED ONLINE AND THERE'S MANY MORE WHO ARE HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEMS. STILL OWE $20,000 ON TRUCK. DODGE SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL THIS. I'M NOT A RICH PERSON, HAD TO TAKE OUT A LOAN IN ORDER TO PAY BUT THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED IT YET BECAUSE THE SPECIFIC PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING.

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CALIPER WAS SO HOT THAT SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE WHEEL AREA. THE CONTACT WAITED UNTIL THE CALIPER COOLED OFF AND DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK HOME. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT ONLY NHTSA COULD ADD VINS TO THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM-7) FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AND DIFFICULTY WITH RESTARTING. THIS WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR A FEW WEEKS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE BUYBACK PROGRAM BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO DO THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
DODGE RAM 1500 2011. CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. WHENEVER I WOULD GO OVER 2K RPMS OR 70MPH THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER AND RESTART MY VEHICLE FOR THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY. ON 2 LANE ROADS I WOULD OFTEN HOLD UP TRAFFIC BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. MANY TIMES, THIS PROBLEM MADE IT UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE. WHEN I WAS GOING 65MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRUCK WOULD START TO SHAKE AND SLOW DOWN TO 30 MPH I WAS ALMOST HIT A NUMBER OF TIMES. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL WITH NO FIX. TOOK IT TO A MOPAR SHOP WHERE THEY ALSO CHANGED THE COIL. THIS RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES THEN THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. I TOOK IT BACK TO MOPAR WHERE THEY WENT MORE IN DEPTH AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LIFTER/ROLLER AND CAM. THE LIFTER GOT STUCK AND MADE A GROVE IN THE CAM. I COULD REPLACE THEM FOR 4.5K OR REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR 8K. WITH ALL THE METAL FLOATING IN MY ENGINE FROM THE CAM, I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS ABSURD FOR RAM TO HAVE NOT COMMENTED ON THIS PROBLEM OR FINE A RECALL. THEY ARE AFRAID THEY WILL LOSE MONEY AND LOSE INVESTORS BECAUSE THIS FIX IS NOT CHEAP. IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR A "REPUTABLE" TRUCK LIKE RAM TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NOT GIVE A SOLUTION.
DRIVING HOME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. ENGINE STARTED CUTTING OUT. TOOLING TO NEAREST PARTS STORE TO RUN A CODE. CAME BACK AND CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. CHANGED PLUGS AND COILS PACKS. NOTHING CHANGED. TOOK IT TO MY NEAREST DODGE DEALERSHIP. RAN A CHECK ON IT CAME BACK AS CAM AND LIFTERS. SAID IT'S COMMON ON THESE TRUCKS. MULTIPLE TRUCKS WITH THE 5.7 HEMI ARE HAVING THESE ISSUES BEFORE AND AFTER A 100K MILES. THESE CAM AND LIFTERS NEED TO BE LOOKED AT ON THE HEMI MOTORS WITH MDS
STARTED FIRST ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I LOST POWER. I WAS GOING 70 MPH ON THE TRUCK AND THEN ON IT'S ON IT LOST POWER AND WENT DOWN TO 60 MPH. SINCE THEN I HAVE GOTTEN AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT MALFUNCTION THAT'S BLINKING ON MY DASH BOARD, ALSO THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT AND ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY REPLACED MY FUEL TANK, BECAUSE I WOULD HEAR THE FUEL TANK STILL WORKING WHEN MY ENGINE WAS OFF. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT MY FUEL INJECTORS AND/OR MY FUSE BOX MAY BE GOING BAD BECAUSE OF THIS.
THE TRUCK STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES STARTING, WHEN I WOULD TURN THE KEY OFF AND ON NUMEROUS TIMES, IT THEN WOULD KICK THE FUEL PUMP IN AND THEN START. THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE AND WORSE. ONCE THE TRUCK STARTED THEN IT RAN FINE. IT THEN STARTED TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP WITH THE KEY OFF AND NOT RUNNING.
THE WIN MODULE FAILED. AKA WIRELESS IGNITION NOD. FROM MY RESEARCH IT A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS CAUSE BY FAULTY SOLDERING INSIDE OF THE MODULE. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY RISK DUE TO THE FIRE HAZARD. THE TRUCK WON'T START UNDER COLD CONDITIONS BECAUSE THE WIN MODULE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION TO START. I HAVE A REMOTE STARTER INSTALLED AND CAN BYPASS THE ISSUE BY USING THE REMOTE START TO START THE TRUCK AND THEN HAVE THE CAR IN THE IGNITION TO KEEP THE TRUCK RUNNING. ONCE THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WARMS UP AND THE MODULE IS WARMED UP IT WORKS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. WILL ALSO CAUSE THE TRUCK TO RANDOMLY SHUT OFF IF THE HEAT ISN'T ON IT THE TRUCK WHEN IT'S COLD OUT
I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 80 ON MY WAY TO WORK.THE FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP HOLDER WELDED TO THE FRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND THE TANK DROPPED ALMOST TO THE GROUND,I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO CHECK OUT THE NOISE. THE TANK WAS HANGING BY THE FUEL LINES. LUCKILY FOR ME I STOPPED. I STRAPPED THE TANK BACK IN WITH RATCHET STRAPS AND GOT TO WORK OKAY. THEN I JACKED IT UP TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SECURED. CALLED CHRYSLER AND DEALERSHIP ABOUT A RECALL AND WAS TOLD NOT YET
THE WELDMENT ON THE FRAME THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAP ATTACHES TO FAILED. THE STRAP WAS INTACT. IT DID CONTACT THE DRIVE SHAFT MAKING SPARKS. THE FUEL TANK ALMOST FELL OUT OF THE TRUCK. IF IT HAD BEEN FULL THE ADDITIONAL WEIGHT COULD HAVE PERMITTED IT TO CONTACT THE HIGHWAY ALLOWING FUEL TO LEAK OUT. WITH THE SPARKS FROM THE STRAP, THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A GOOD OUTCOME. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER WITHOUT A RESOLUTION. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A NEW WELDMENT. I HAVE THE ABILITY TO REMOVE AND WELD THE NEW ONE ON. THE FUEL TANK IS BEING HELD BY RATCHET STRAPS. I REMEMBER FUEL TANK PROBLEMS WITH PINTO'S AND CHEVY TRUCKS. IN THIS CASE WITHOUT WARNING THE TANK CAN FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND START A FIRE, WITHOUT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. HOWEVER ONCE THE BRACKET DEGRADES, AN IMPACT WOULD ALSO PRESENT THE SAME RESULTS. I AM NOT LOOKING TO GET BLOWN UP IN THIS VEHICLE WHEN IT IS PREVENTABLE. I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY ANOTHER MOTORIST ALERTED ME TO THE SPARKS. I DO NOT FEEL THE STRAPS ARE A GOOD LONG TERM REPAIR. I HAVE ALSO FOUND OTHER MENTION OF THIS FAILURE ON THE INTERNET. PLEASE HELP!
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I AM THE OWNER OF A 2011 DODGE RAM 1500 SPORT EDITION WITH 70,000 MILES. THE OTHER DAY, A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND I GOT A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2 CODE (P0302). THE VEHICLE WOULD JOLT AT LOW RPM'S WHICH IS A COMMON SYMPTOM OF A MISFIRE AND/OR LOW COMPRESSION IN ONE OR MORE CYLINDERS. AFTER EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES HAD BEEN ADMINISTERED, THE MECHANICS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE LIFTER ARMS HAD SEIZED. THE SEIZED LIFTER ARM CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE INCLUDING THE CAMSHAFT LOBE ON CYLINDER 2, AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND THAT LIFTERS FAILING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT IS A COMMON ISSUE ONLY ON THE 2011 RAM 1500 TRUCKS. MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON 2011 RAM 1500 TRUCKS, AND EACH ONE HAS HAD A LIFTER SEIZURE CAUSE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT. AT THIS POINT, MY ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE ALL THE LIFTERS, VALVE SPRINGS, CAMSHAFT, AND HAVE EACH HEADER INSPECTED TO ENSURE NO FURTHER DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED. IN TOTAL THIS WILL COST ANYWHERE FROM $2000 TO $3000 OUT OF POCKET FOR PARTS AND MECHANICAL SERVICES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR A LIFTER TO SEIZE ON A TRUCK WITH 70,000 MILES THAT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED REGULARLY. IN ADDITION, THERE IS NO REASON FOR MORE THAN 50 OWNERS OF THE SAME TRUCK TO HAVE THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS KIND OF ISSUE TO REPLACE BAD LIFTERS WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CAMSHAFT AT FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE. I CANNOT FULLY EXPRESS MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND FRUSTRATION IN DODGE AS A COMPANY FOR IGNORING THE COMPLAINTS OF THEIR HARDWORKING CUSTOMERS. THE ONLY OPTION I SEE IS A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION REGARDING A BAD BATCH OF LIFTERS IN 2011 DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCKS, AND A REFUND/COMPENSATION TO THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR LOSSES THEY MAY HAVE HAD WHEN REPLACING LIFTERS, CAMSHAFTS, ETC.
DURING A PA STATE INSPECTION THEY FOUND ONE OF THE FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS HAD PULLED OUT OF THE FRAME. THE FRAME HAD RUSTED IN THE AREA WHERE THE STRAP USE TO BE ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. THIS LEFT THE TANK WITH 150LBS OF GASOLINE IN IT HANGING BY ONE STRAP, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC IF THE TANK FELL OUT AND BECAME WEDGED UNDER THE AXLE. IT IS GOING TO COST OVER $650 TO HAVE THE FRAME WELDED. VEHICLE IS A 2011 WITH 57K MILES.
KEY FOB EJECTS FROM WIRELESS IGNITION NODE CAUSING LOSE OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ON THE INTERSTATE AND IN THE CITY WHILE IN MOTION.
THE TIPM IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE TRUCK STARTS BY ITSELF WHILE PARKED, LIGHTS MALFUNCTION, WINDOWS GO DOWN BY ITSELF, NEW HEADLAMPS GO OUT. WE ARE AFRAID TO PARK IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE IT COULD START AND RUN WHILE WE SLEEP. EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD.
MY TRUCK FAILS TO START RANDOMLY, IT JUST CRANKS. THE HORN WILL RANDOMLY GO OFF BY ITSELF, AND IT HAS STALLED ON ME TWICE WHILE DRIVING. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THE TIPM IS BAD. OTHER 2011 CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME ISSUES, AND HAVE HAD A RECALL.
AFTER THE TRUCK IS PARKED, AND THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED THE FUEL PUMP MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN, DRAINING THE BATTERY.
