CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON INDICATING A CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE. REPLACED SPARK PLUG AND IGNITION COIL. MECHANIC SAID LIFTERS IN THESE ENGINES TYPICALLY SEIZE AND DESTROY THE CAMSHAFT. VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH AND SHUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH THERE IS NO ACCELERATION.
CONSTANT ELECTRICAL ISSUES. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE FINALLY BEING REPAIRED. AC/HEATER MOTOR WENT OUT 4 TIMES BEFORE IT WAS DETERMINED THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BURNT. HEATER WOULD GO ON AND OFF ON IT'S OWN
I HAVE A WARNING LIGHT LIT UP FOR THE AIR BAGS AND THE MESSAGE ON THE SAVED MESSAGES SAYS SERVICE AIR BAGS. THE AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED FOR ANY REASON. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME IT WASN'T MOVING WHEN THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 80 MPH, THE STEERING CEASED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V287000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,259.

THE CONTACT CALLED ALAN JAY CHRYSLER DODGE RAM JEEP LOCATED AT (1401 US-17, WAUCHULA, FL 33873, (863) 773-4744) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,200.
IMMEDIATE AIR SUSPENSION SERVICE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY LIGHT COMES ON. THE VEHICLE BOUNCES SO BAD IT IS HARD TO DRIVE. TOOK TRUCK IN 5 TIMES FOR SERVICE AT DEALER AND STILL NOT FIXED
My truck for several years has intermittently turned off all safety features and steering control, i.e. air bags, traction control, anti lock breaks, and power steering all turn off randomly which in turn disables the cruise control, towing functions, etc. In the past I could turn the truck off then back on and the problems would dissappear, Now the problem has escalated and is occurring at shorter intervals now turning it off doesn't work and its getting dangerous. There is various recalls for these problems with same make and years model trucks, but mine is not included. I've tried contacting the dealer but they basically say sorry we can't help you unless your truck is added to the recall list. It's just not right that 1000's of vehicles the exact same as mine have been recalled for the exact same problems but not mine. Thanks for your time!
MY VEHICLE IS PROMPTING A WARNING SIGN ON THE DASH SCREEN STATING "SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM". SINCE IT STARTED, THE SCREEN ON MY DASH STARTED GLITCHING A FEW MINUTES WHILE DRIVING OR IDLING, THEN IT'LL PROMPT THE WARNING STATEMENT AGAIN. NOT SURE IF RELATED, BUT EVER SINCE THAT HAPPENED, ANOTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENT STARTED ACTING UP SUCH AS MY AIR CONDITIONING AND TPMS LIGHT. THE A/C COMES ON AND OFF WHEN TURNED USING THE COLD. HOWEVER, IF HEAT IS USED, IT SEEMS WORK FINE. THE TPMS I'M NOT SURE IF RELATED, BUT I KNOW ALL THESE SYMPTOMS FOLLOWED AFTER THE AIR BAG WARNING STARTED. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE A FEW MONTH'S BACK WHEN I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT. A WEEK AFTER, THE A/C STARTED ACTING UP. I'M APPALLED TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WASN'T A PART OF THE AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. I'VE LOOKED UP THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES. SO FAR, I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE AN INCIDENT YET, BUT I'M ALSO TERRIFIED THERE MIGHT BE ONE IN THE FUTURE. ANY HELP FROM THE NHTSA WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND HE STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND CONTINUED TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE TURN SINCE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS HEADED THAT WAY AND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES THAT REQUIRED HOSPITALIZING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE'S ENTIRE FRONT WAS DAMAGED WITH THE FENDER. THE GRILL, THE HEADLIGHTS, THE BUMPER AND THE TWO FRONT CONTROL ARMS WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE DEALER BALLEY CAR PLANET 14329 VICTORY BLVD, VAN NUYS, CA 91401 (818) 892-1422 DENIED ANY HELP BECAUSE THEY SAID THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED A TRADEIN TO THE CONTACT FOR A NEW TRUCK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THERE WERE THREE OTHER RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. *DT*JB
WHILE ENTERING THE INTERSTATE ON 2/22/2020 MY TRUCK LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER. A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED STATING "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MY TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS). I WAS ABLE TO MANHANDLE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT NEARLY GOING INTO THE DITCH. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS WRONG AND FINDING NOTHING I MADE MY WAY BACK HOME SLOWLY WITH MY FLASHERS ON. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE EVER SINCE AND THE POWER STEERING HAS NOT RETURNED. ALL FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND APPEAR GOOD. I JUST TURNED 41,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE READ MANY ARTICLES ABOUT THIS BEING A HUGE PROBLEM FOR MANY OTHER RAM OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR MODELS AS MINE AND ALSO NEWER MODEL YEARS. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE AS THE S19 RECALL FOR 2015-2016 DODGE RAMS FILED 07/2016. IF MY WIFE OR SON HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT, THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED DIFFERENTLY, POSSIBLE ACCIDENT, INJURY OR EVEN WORSE, DEATH, TO THEM OR SOMEONE ELSE.
HAVE A 2013 SLT 1500 THAT WE PURCHASED USED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO IT CURRENTLY HAS 68491 IN MILES. THE POWER STEERING HAS CEASED WORKING. WHILE BACKING I RECEIVED A SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING ON THE DASH AND THEN NO POWER STEERING. MY WIFE DROVE THIS TRUCK THE DAY BEFORE THIS OCCURRED HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING WE LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND THERE ARE LOTS OF CURVES IN OUR ROADS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE IF EPS IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO BE USED SOME TYPE OF PRE-WARNING OR SAFETY ASSIST IN ADDITION TO EPS.
SERVICE ELECTRIC BRAKE COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY A COUPLE OF TIME A DAY AND SOMETIMES SCREEN GOES BLACK WHILE DRIVING
Electronic power steering rack disabled while driving in parking lot which made it very difficult to steer into a safe area. Part has been replaced by qualified auto repair shop but was told that the current recall for this part, while being the same part, was not covered for year 2013 only 2015 and newer. There was a red steering wheel illuminated on the dash as soon as the power steering disabled.
I BUY THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALER POST TO BE FIXED BUT I HAD TO WAIT 3 WEEKS TO DO THE REPAIR AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON ON AIR BAG SYSTEM. SINCE WE BUY THE TRUCK IT WAS LIKE THAT. *TR
MY 2013 RAM1500 HAD A VEHICLE RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER LOCKING PIN. AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT, MY GEARSHIFT SHIFTED GEARS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED AND AS A RESULT MY TRUCK IS NOW STUCK IN 4TH GEAR. THIS DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED AS A RESULT OF FAULTY EQUIPMENT PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAS NO RESPONSE TIME AND CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. NOR CAN THE TRUCK EFFECTIVELY TRANSIT ANY ROAD RESEMBLING AN APPRECIABLE INCLINE DUE TO BE STUCK IN 4TH GEAR. THE I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER (CARS PLUS GUAM) YESTERDAY REGARDING RAM RECALL T79 AND DETAILED ALL OF THIS TO THEM. THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, AND HAVE NOT RESOLVED OTHER ISSUES WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. I KNOW SEE ONLINE THAT THEY HAVE CLOSED OUT MY RECALLS LISTING THEM AS REPAIRED. THEY HAVE CALLED ME TO COME PICK UP THE VEHICLE. BUT I AM NOT AT ALL SATISFIED THAT ALL PROPER ACTIONS AND MANUFACTURER REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. I AM STILL STUCK WITH AN UNSAFE OPERATING CONDITION AS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURED EQUIPMENT.
TRUCK HAS A TYPE OF ELECTRIC ASSISTED STEERING. WHILE DRIVING STEERING JUST QUITS WORKING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, TAKES A LOT OF STRENGTH, VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AT SPEED. AFTER SHUTTING OFF IGNITION, IT WILL SOMETIMES RETURN TO NORMAL, BUT WILL AGAIN JUST UNEXPECTEDLY STOP WORKING, VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE THAT DO NOT POSSESS ABOVE AVERAGE ARM STRENGTH
THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION DOESN'T WORK IN COLD WEATHER AND IT DROPS TO THE BUMP STOPS AND RIDE IS TERRIBLE. AND KEEPS BLOWING FUSES MANY MANY TIMES WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 30 DEGREES
MY 2013 RAM WILL LOCK THE DOORS RANDOMLY, WITH NO ONE IN IT OR NEAR IT. ITS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, NOW I HAVE TO LEAVE A WINDOW DOWN IF IM JUST UNLOADING THE BACK, OR CARRY A SPARE KEY. I'VE BEEN WORKING IN THE YARD, KEYS NOT EVEN ON ME, AND I HEAR "CLICK" AND ALL THE DOORS ARE LOCKED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I COULD GET LOCKED OUT SOMEWHERE. I LIVE IN DEEP WOODS, THERE ARE NO NEIGHBORS TO HAVE A CONFLICTING KEY, SO TO SPEAK. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN LOCKED OUT SEVERAL TIMES, BUT HAVE EITHER HAD A SPARE KEY, OR LEFT THE WINDOW DOWN WHILE PUMPING GAS, ETC. THIS HAPPENS WITH THE MOTOR OFF, NO ONE IN THE CAR, KEY FOB MAY BE IN MY POCKET OR 100 YARDS AWAY IN THE HOUSE IN A DRAWER. HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY, TRUCK HADNT EVEN BEEN DRIVEN, I WAS OUT SHOVELING SNOW AND I HEAR "CLICK", ALL LOCKED UP AGAIN.
I bought it in 2018 & 1 month later no radio, gps, backup any of the stereo system worked. The only thing that worked was volume. I took it in & they charged me $125 diagnosis & was gonna be over $600 for new system. I never got it fixed. In 2022 with only 122000 miles it had to go in the shop for an engine overhaul because of the problem with missing on 5th cylinder. I have never owned a Dodge Ram before & never will again. I have had nothing but problems with it. I made phone calls & wrote emails & the closest I got to a recall is 2014 was the cutoff year & mine is 2013. I did back into a dumpster because the backup camera doesn’t work in January of 2020. I had insurance with White’s Insurance out of Purdy but I don’t have the paperwork anymore.
THE TRUCK ACTS LIKE IT WAS RESTARTED WHEN IM DRIVING DOWN ROAD . THE LIGHTS GO OUT ALL THE GAGES TURN OFF AND RESET ITS NOT A GOOD THING WHEN U ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED MORE THEN THE ONE TIME ON 01/09/2020 IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES THIS MONTH AN BE FOR THAT IT WOULD DO IT HERE AND THERE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT THE DEALER HAD IT EVERY WEEK FOR 3 MONTHS BUT IT NEVER DID IT FOR THEM BUT THERE SHOULD BE SOME RECORDS OF ME HAVING IT IN THERE. IT WOULD HAPPEN AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 30 MPH TO 60 MPH
THE POWER STEERING FAILED ON MY WIFE WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2015 RAM RECALL. WHY DO WE NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL. LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP AND NOT CRASH. WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS?
Total loss of power steering.
The door locking system does not work as intended. When locking the doors via the key fob, door mounted button, or putting the vehicle into drive, only the drivers door and tailgate lock. The passengers door, and both rear doors do not lock. This problem has been reproduced numerous times [XXX] ). There seems to be no detection or indicators showing that this issue is occurring. The only way to find out is by visually noticing that the door locks have not engaged, or by physically trying to open the doors. 4 CORNER AIR BAG SUSPENSION DROPPED TO THE FRAME BUMPERS. THE FRONT SLOWLY LOWERED WHILE DRIVING AND THEN AFTER PARKING THE REAR DROPPED. CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE THE TIRES ARE RUBBING.
NONE OF CONTROLS ON STEERING COLUMN ARE WORKING. FIRST THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED.. REPLACED THE FUSE IT LOOKED BURNT OUT. DID NOT SOLVE. THEN RADIO CONTROLS QUIT ALONG WITH LEFT SIDE DASH CONTROLS. WHILE DRIVING THE CRUISE WAS NOT WORKING. THE RADIO WHILE DRIVING AND THE LEFT SIDE DASH CONTROLS WORKED WHILE SITTING G I. DRIVEWAY BUT WHEN I MOVED THEY FROZE.
MY ENTIRE DASH, RADIO AND ALL ELECTRONICS IN TRUCK SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I CAN STILL DRIVE THE TRUCK AS THE ENGINE, STEERING AND BRAKING STILL WORKS. THE DASH CYCLES LIKE I HAVE JUST TURNED THE TURN ON. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CATCH THIS ON VIDEO AS IT HAPPENS AND SCARES ME SO I KEEP WATCHING THE ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAN'T REPLICATED IT. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PIN DOWN WHY IT HAPPENS YET IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE OFTENT. NOW MY DASH LIGHTS ARE STARTING TO FLICKER AND FLASH. THIS IS VERY VERY DISTRACTING ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NATIONAL DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (2223 N MARINE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, NC 28546, (844) 872-2972) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A TECHNICIAN WOULD BE SENT OUT IN TWO DAYS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,195.
TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, FIRST INCIDENT PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK LEFT RUNNING CAME BACK TO VEHICLE AND IT HAD ROLLED FORWARD INTO FRONT OF GARAGE. SECOND INCIDENT PARKED TURNED VEHICLE OFF AT TOP OF DRIVEWAY WOKE UP NEXT MORNING TO FIND VEHICLE AT BOTTOM OF THE DRIVEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON MY HE HIGHWAY MY TRUCK LOWERS TO THE BUMPER STOPS AND HAS NO SUSPENSION MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. THEY'RE SAYING IT IS THE WHOLE AIR SUSPENSION WHICH THEY JUST THROW A NEW PART AT AND RELEASE IT TO ME TO DRIVE WITHOUT REALLY FIXING IT.. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2019 WITH A MOPAR MAX CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHEN THE EVENT HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER THE FIRST TIME, I HAD IT TAKEN INTO RAZZARI DODGE WHERE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS PURCHASED. IT HAS NOW BEEN IN THERE FOR THE 6TH TIME. I TOOK IT BACK JANUARY 28TH AND IS STILL THERE. EACH TIME THEY'VE GIVEN IT BACK SAYING IT WAS REPAIRED, I HAVE ALMOST WREAKED ON THE FREEWAY EACH TIME.. THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE DODGE STAR ENGINEERS BUT WON'T GIVE ME THE INFORMATION ON MY VEHICLE SAFETY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING FLUID LOW" AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. ROB LAMBDIN'S UNIVERSITY DODGE (5456 UNIVERSITY DR, DAVIE, FL 33328) WAS CONTACTED AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TOWED TO THEIR FACILITY. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT AND HARNES NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 71381486. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,824.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,969.
MY TRUCK WAS BACKED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, PARKED OVERNIGHT, AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO KEY FOB. I TRIED SECOND FOB, ALSO HAD NO RESPONSE. I MANUALLY OPENED DOOR AND TRUCK WOULD NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY. I CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. TOW TRUCK JUMPED BATTERY, WHICH ALLOWED TRUCK TO START, BUT PROMPTLY DIED ONCE CABLES WERE REMOVED. TOW TRUCK TOWED VEHICLE TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSESSMENT. INITIAL DIAGNOSES WAS FAILED ALTERNATOR. HOWEVER, ONCE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES AROSE, IMMEDIATELY. THE PDC AND CABLE, BATTERY AS WELL AS WIPER MOTOR, AMONG OTHER ITEMS IN LINE, WERE ALSO DAMAGED. SMOKE INSTANTLY FILLED ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT APPEARED THAT VOLTAGE HAD BEEN BACKFED THUS CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE NOT NOTED EARLIER. THE DEALERSHIP THINKS THAT IF THEY SUBMITT ADDITIONAL REPAIR REQUESTS TO MOPAR, BEYOND ALTERNATOR FAILURE, THAT THIS WILL RESULT IN NON PAYMENT BY MY EXTENDED, LIFETIME WARRANTY PACKAGE I PURCHASED WITH VEHICLE. I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE AUGUST, BEGINNING WITH TRANSMISSION CELANOID AS WELL AS FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE KEY FOB. OTHER ISSUES SINCE, WHICH ALSO APPEAR TO BE ELECTRICAL ISSUES, HAVE RESULTED IN NUMEROUS DAYS OFF WORK, $100 DEDUCTIBLES BEING PAID, AND FRUSTRATING HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES, BOTH MINE AND THE TOW TRUCK.

IN ADDITION, THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE OVERHEATING AND PRODUCED A VERY STRONG BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN RELEASED A LITTLE BIT OF THE FLUID. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT CALLED HUNTINGTON BEACH CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (16701 BEACH BLVD, HUNTINGTON, CA 92647, (714) 841-3999) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. I'VE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND MECHANICS, WHO ALL HAD A HARD TIME DIAGNOSING AND FIXING THE PROBLEMS. I'VE HAD TO SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON TOW TRUCKS AND REPAIRS, AND AM NOT CONVINCED THE ISSUES ARE ADEQUATELY REPAIRED. I ALSO FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS IS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. THE PREVIOUS SECTION WOULD NOT LET ME CHOOSE ALL THE ISSUES BUT I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAG, BRAKES, ELEC. THE TECHNICIAN SCANNED THE VEHICLE AND REPORTED THAT FCA WAS OR IS ISSUING A VB9 RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, THEY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME SINCE I GOT A CASE NUMBER ON FRIDAY THE CASE NUMBER IS 68148835
WHILE BACKING INTO MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK MY 2013 RAM 1500 EXPRESS LOST POWER STEERING. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER. THE ELECTRIC MOTOR COULD BE HEARD TRYING TO TURN THE RACK AND PINION BUT THE TIRES WHERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THIS HAPPENED AT 60,000 MILES WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF SENDING MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX RECALLS I HAD.
UPON STARTING ENGINE AND BACKING FROM CARPORT I NOTICED STEERING WAS STIFF AND 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' NOTICE AND SYMBOL WERE DISPLAYED ON DASH. ABSOLUTELY NO ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. TRIED RESTARTING ENGINE BUT PROBLEM PERSISTED. I HAD NO WARNING SIGNS WHATSOEVER, AS THE POWER STEERING HAD BEEN OPERATING EXACTLY AS USUAL THE EVENING BEFORE. THANKFULLY THE FAILURE HAPPENED AS I STARTED THE VEHICLE INSTEAD OF NEGOTIATING A CURVE OR DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED WITH APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THESE MILES WERE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY NORMAL HIGHWAY MILES ON GOOD, POTHOLE AND CONSTRUCTION FREE ROADS. A PART AS INTEGRAL TO THE SAFETY AND OPERATION OF A VEHICLE AS THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK SHOULD NOT FAIL WITHIN 46,000 MILES WITHOUT SOME RESPONSIBILITY SHOULDERED BY THE MANUFACTURER, IN MY OPINION. THE STEERING RACK ALONE WAS $1875.00 NOT INCLUDING LABOR OR TAXES.
WAS NAVIGATION THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED RESULTING IN ALMOST ZERO ABILITY TO TURN THE TRUCK. THANKFULLY I WAS GOING SLOW AND ABLE TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTED, EPS WAS FUNCTIONING NORMAL. WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. NEXT TIME STARTING TRUCK, EPS IS NON FUNTIONAL. IT IS LITERALLY ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THIS TRUCK. IT DOES NOT REVERT TO MANUAL STEERING. I CURRENTLY MULTIPLE MANUAL STEERING VEHICLES AND THE RAM IS INFINITELY HARDER TO STEER EVEN WHILE IN MOTION. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND IT CURRENTLY ONLY HAS ROUGHLY 23K MILES ON IT. HAS HARDLY EVER EVEN BEEN RAINED ON. RAM HAS ACTIVE RECALLS FOR EPS ISSUES FOR LATER MODELS BUT REFUSES TO ADDRESS EARLIER MODELS.
MY TRUCK FAILED THE STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD BROKEN OFF AND WERE INSIDE THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH NO WAY TO GET THEM OUT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A MECHANIC UPON DISCOVERING HOW DEEP THEY HAD BROKEN OFF WITH NO SUCCESS AT REMOVING THE FIRST ONE AND THE MECHANIC WAS ALSO UNABLE TO REMOVE THEM. THEY HAVE NOW BEEN DRILLED OUT BY THE MECHANIC WHICH CREATED A COOLANT LEAK OUT OF ONE OF THE BOLT HOLES AND IT LOOKS LIKE I'LL NEED A NEW CYLINDER HEAD. I'VE READ IT'S A COMMON ISSUE AND NOW I'M EXPECTING THE DRIVERS SIDE TO DO THE SAME ANY TIME IF THEY AREN'T BROKEN ALREADY.
INTERIOR DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON LOCATED ON INTERIOR DRIVERS DOOR PANEL WILL NOT FUNCTION, I.E. WILL NOT LOCK, UNLOCK THE DOORS. KEY FOB WILL LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS, BUT NOT DOOR PANEL BUTTONS AT ANY TIME, MOVING OR STATIONARY. WINDOW FUNCTION BUTTONS WERE NOT WORKING, BUT HAVE STARTED WORKING ON THEIR OWN. BUT THE INABILITY TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS SEEMS LIKE A HUGE SAFETY FACTOR. THEY DID WORK INITIALLY, SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING RECENTLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED TSB: 23-105-18 AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, WAS INFORMED FROM THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE TSB HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 155,000.*LN*JB
BOLTS HOLDING EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO ENGINE BLOCK BROKE ON BOTH SIDES. THIS LEADS TO EXHAUST LEAK, AS WELL AND A TICKING AND ROUGH IDLE FROM COLD START.
OUR 2013 RAM 1500 SUDDENLY LOST IT'S POWER STEERING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVING FINE BUT HAD A "RUBBING" NOISE WHEN TURNING. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND SAID "THIS IS TYPICAL OF RAM'S". WONDERING IF THAT WAS PRECURSOR TO ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) UNIT TO FAIL. SON HAD DRIVEN TRUCK TO SCHOOL WITHOUT ISSUE. WHEN STARTED TO COME HOME SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON DASH AND HE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY THIS FAILED WHILE PARKED, BECAUSE LOSS IF POWER STEERING ON SUCH A LARGE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER INVESTIGATION, THIS IS A NOTED PROBLEM WITH RAM 1500 AND HAS EVEN RESULTED IN RECALLS FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS BUT NOT 2013. 2013 WAS THE FIRST MODEL YEAR FOR EPS AND IT IS CLEARLY FAULTY. WITH A REPLACEMENT PART COSTING ~$2100 WITH LABOR AN ADDITIONAL $600, THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR FOR AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT FOR SAFE DRIVING. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE UP TO FIAT-CHRYSLER AMERICA (FCA) TO OWN UP TO THIS DEFECT AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY/DEATH OCCURS.

MOST OF 2013 RAM 5.7 LITER ENGINE HAS A VALVE TRAIN PREMATURE WEAR RESULTING ON A LOUD TICKING ENGINE NOISE FROM WORN OUT CAMSHAFT MOST VEHICLES BARELY OVER WARRANTY
