VEHICLE DIDN'T START, WE WERE STRANDED MILES FROM HOME IT SHOWED "WRONG KEY FOB" ON THE SCREEN, STEERING & TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP, TOWED TO NEAREST DEALER THEY REPROGRAMMED THE ORIGINAL KEY IT DIDN'T WORK, PROGRAMMED A NEW KEY DIDN'T WORK EITHER ORDERED RECEIVER MODULE DIDN'T WORK EITHER, PROGRAMMED A THIRD KEY & SOMEHOW STARTED. REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET & FOUND MULTIPLE CASES, SOME SAY THAT THEY HAD SAME PROBLEM IN MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. WE WERE NOT IN DANGER AT ANY TIME, BUT IF THIS INCIDENT OCCURS UNDER COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS OR IN AN UNSAFE LOCATION THE STORY COULD BE VERY DIFFERENT. *TR
MY 2013 RAM HAS A CONSTANT VIBRATION WHICH STARTS AT AROUND 40MPH AND CONTINUES ALL THE WAY UP TO 75+ MPH. I'VE REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES 3 TIMES. THE LAST SET ARE MICHELIN. ON ALL 3 SETS OF NEW TIRES I HAD THEM BALANCED A TOTAL OF OVER 15 TIMES. HAD ROAD FORCE TESTING DONE ON THE NEWEST SET 5 TIMES. I STILL FEEL THE VIBRATION. I BOUGHT THE TIRES AND HAD THEM ROAD FORCE BALANCED BY A NATIONAL TIRE CHAIN. THEN I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. THEY ROAD FORCE BALANCED THE TIRES TWICE AND TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WASN'T THE TIRES OR RIMS. THEN I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE STORE WHERE I BOUGH THE TIRES, THEY ROAD FORCE BALANCED THEM AGAIN AND STILL I FEEL THE VIBRATION. THE SERVICE MANAGERS AT BOTH LOCATIONS SAID THAT THEY PERSONALLY DROVE THE TRUCK FOR A ROAD TEST AND THEY BOTH SAID THEY COULDN'T FEEL THE VIBRATION. BELIEVE ME, IT REALLY SHAKES. IT'S ANNOYING AND I'M SURE IT'S NOT GOOD FOR THE TRUCK OVERALL. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 122,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN VIBRATING FOR ABOUT 100,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW AND PURCHASED THE UNLIMITED WARRANTY. UNLIMITED. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE DODGE WARRANTY, SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE DEALER WOULDN'T GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. I REALLY LIKE THE TRUCK, BUT THIS VIBRATION PROBLEM IS MAKING ME VERY ANGRY. IS THERE A RECALL THAT ADDRESSES THIS PROBLEM? IF NOT, WHAT SHOULD MY NEXT STEP BE? I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP ON THE INTERSTATE AND I HAD JUST MADE A TURN ON THE STREET WE LIVE ON WHEN I HEARD A DING SOUND. MY WIFE AND I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY THAT SHOWED, "SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL". IT STAYED ON ONLY A SECOND AND DISAPPEARED. I DIDN'T REALLY NOTICE ANY EFFECT TO THE DRIVING CAPABILITY, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT MESSAGE HAS APPEARED AND I NOTICE THAT THERE ARE TWO SIMILAR COMPLAINTS POSTED HERE ABOUT THE SAME MESSAGE. I THINK I'LL GO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AT LEAST LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT AND SEE WHAT THEY DO. I HAD BEEN USING MY CRUISE CONTROL ON THE WAY BACK FROM MY TRIP WHICH I NORMALLY DO USE AND I NOTE THAT IN AT LEAST ONE OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THE PERSON WAS USING THEIRS TOO. AT THE TIME OF THE MESSAGE I WASN'T USING CRUISE BUT LIKE I SAID, I HAD BEEN. *TR
MY RAM 1500 MANUFACTURED 2013 STOPPED SUDDENLY AND REFUSED TO START UP AGAIN WITH ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT BEEN WORKING REGULARLY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED TO ME AFTER TWO WEEKS ONLY. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO MY CLOSEST AGENT. THE FIRST REPORT DIDN'T DIAGNOSE ANY DEFECT ON THE TRUCK. I CONSIDER THIS INCIDENT AS A VERY HIGH AND CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS WHILE DRIVING. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SO FAR HAS REBOOTED AND RETURNED TO WORKING CONDITION BUT SO FAR CLUSTER HAS FAILED AROUND 20+ TIMES WHILE DRIVING. UNKNOWN IF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL RESUME FUNCTIONING AFTER FAILURE UNTIL IT DOES RESTART. DEALER UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MAKING VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO POSSIBLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. UNKNOWN IF THIS IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM, SOFTWARE PROBLEM OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. NUMEROUS TRIPS TO DEALERSHIP AND SPEAKING WITH RAM CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE ISSUE . *TR
DRIVING VEHICLE ON PAVED ROADWAY TRAVELING APPX 30 MPH. VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. WITNESS SAID FLAMES SHOT OUT BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE FROM UNDER THE BODY. LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE WAS AROUND THE VEHICLE AS I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. A QUICK GLANCE AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL AND NO WARNING LIGHTS. SMOKE IN CAB AND FLAMES CAME UP THROUGH THE DASH AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR INCLUDING THE WINDSHIELD BUSTING OUT FROM THE HEAT. TOOK FIRE DEPARTMENT 3 ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. AFTER FLOODING THE INTERIOR AND DASH CAVITY (THROUGH THE HOLE BURNED THROUGH THE DASH) OF THE VEHICLE 2 TIMES, THE FIRE CONTINUED. AT THAT TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND FLOODED THE INTERIOR AND DASH AREA A 3RD TIME WHICH FINALLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE ONLY INJURY WAS SMOKE INHALATION AND RESULTING SORE THROAT SUFFERED BY ME, THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD AND I HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (NYLE MAXWELL DODGE, AUSTIN TX) ON THE MORNING OF THE FIRE (12/19/2013) AND WHILE CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED LIABILITY THEY HAVE NOT SETTLE WITH ME ON MY LOSS AS OF THIS DATE (01/23/2014). THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A COMPLETE LOSS BY BOTH MY INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATOR (STATE FARM) AND THE CHRYSLER INVESTIGATOR. *TR
CENTER DASH CLUSTER REBOOTS WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE KEEPS RUNNING WHILE CLUSTER RECYCLES. IT HAS OCCURRED DOZENS OF TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT OCCURS AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SINCE IT FIRST OCCURRED. NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A CLUE AS TO THE ROOT CAUSE. MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM.
HEADLIGHTS (STANDARD) ARE INADEQUATE. CAN NOT SEE WITH LOW BEAMS UNLESS IT IS TOTALLY BLACK OUT AND THERE ARE NOT ANY OTHER SOURCES OF LIGHT CLOSE. THE ONLY WAY I KNOW MY LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN IN TOWN IS BECAUSE OF THE GREEN LIGHT ON DASH. I CAME UP UPON ANOTHER TRUCK RECENTLY THAT WAS GOING SLOWER THAN I WAS AND HE HAD HIS BLINKERS GOING BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SEE WITH HIS LIGHTS EITHER (I PULLED INTO GAS STATION BEHIND HIM AND ASKED). IT WAS ANOTHER RAM 1500. THEY ARE SO UNDERPOWERED SOMEONE IS GONNA BE IN AN ACCIDENT. ALREADY TOOK IT TO DEALER FOR READJUSTMENT, DID NOT HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG SULFUR ODOR EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE HOUSES THE ODOR EMITTED INSIDE THE CAB AND BECAME STRONGER WHEN THE HEATING OR COOLING SYSTEM WAS ON. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS NOT YET A REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE HOSES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000. *TR
WHEN USING THE HEATER OR AIR CONDITIONER A TOXIC SMELL FILLS THE CAB CAUSING METALLIC TASTE AND OCCUPANTS TO HAVE A HEADACHE. THE FACTORY SAYS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAVE EVEN APPLIED A STAR CASE NUMBER [XXX] WITH A RELEASE DATE OF 10/24/2013. THEY SAY THAT THE ISSUE IS BOTHERSOME BUT HAS NO EFFECT ON DURABILITY OR LONGEVITY OF THE COOLING SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT MY CONCERN. MY CONCERN IS, THIS TOXIC SMELL CAUSING LONG TERM HEALTH PROBLEMS OR CANCER? I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS ON THE SUBJECT SOME DATING BACK TO MARCH 2013. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER. FIDDLED WITH BUTTONS FOR A FEW MINUTES THE ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALERS TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2013 DODGE RAM 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BED OF VEHICLE IS SPLITTING ON BOTH ENDS. *SMD
WHEN USING THE HORN DRIVING OR STATIONARY, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DELAY FROM DEPRESSING THE STEERING WHEEL CENTER AND THE HORN SOUNDING. THE DELAY RENDERS THE HORN RELATIVELY USELESS FOR TIMELY WARNING TO OTHER VEHICLES. THIS HAS RESULTED IN MULTIPLE CLOSE CALLS. HORNS ARE MEANT AS WARNING DEVICES, SECONDS COUNT AT SPEED AND THIS DELAY IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE.
FUSES CONTINUE TO BLOW FROM VARIOUS OUTLETS/HUBS/PLUGS IN THE VEHICLE. RANDOM NOISE COMES FROM UNDER DASH WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF. KEY(FOB) ALSO GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WILL NOT COME OUT UNLESS TRUCK IS TURNED BACK ON. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, SET OR NOT, SOME TIMES WHEN PRESSING THE RESUME BUTTON, THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. REQUIRING YOU TO GET YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS FAST. THIS CAN BE A PROBLEM WHEN NAVIGATING TRAFFIC, AND USING THE CRUISE TO BUMP UP THE SPEED A COUPLE ON MPH, AND INSTEAD YOU JUST LOST SOME, AND THE GUY BEHIND YOU THINKS YOU ARE A JERK FOR PULLING IN THE PASSING LANE AND SLOWING DOWN. THAT IS IF HE NOTICES AND DON'T RUN IN TO YOU FIRST. OR YOU SETTLE BACK INTO TRAFFIC HIT THE RESUME, TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE PEDAL, AND THEN REALIZE YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN VERY FAST. I DON'T KNOW HOW OFTEN THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT I WOULD GUESS OVER 100 TIME SO FAR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I WAS INADVERTENTLY HITTING THE OFF BUTTON, THEN I SAW MY THUMB WAS NOW WHERE NEAR THE OFF BUTTON WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FROM NEW. *TR
AFTER COMING TO SLOWER SPEEDS (45 MPH) FROM HIGHWAYS SPEEDS (75) MY VEHICLE WAS DRIVING BY ITSELF WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT KEEPS A CONSTANT SPEED OF 35 MPH. THE FURTHEST I HAVE DRIVEN LIKE THIS IS 2.5 MILES. *TR
I WAS PARKED AND THE TRUCK DIDN'T START BACK UP. TRUCK WAS LESS THAN 2 WEEKS OLD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. TURNED OUT NOT TO BE THE BATTERY WHICH WAS THE FIRST GUESS. THE DEALER SAID IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM THAT WAS INSTALLED AND THEN TAKEN OUT WHEN I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. THIS HAPPENED IN OCTOBER 2013 AND I'VE BEEN DRIVING IT UNTIL TODAY 7/1/14. THE SAME THING HAPPENED THIS MORNING. THE TRUCK LEFT ME STRANDED AT A GAS STATION. WAITING FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSIS. *TR
AFTER DRIVING ON SNOW AND SLUSHY ROADS I COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT INTO THE REVERSE OR PARK POSITION. I COULDN'T EVEN MOVE THE SELECTOR INTO THOSE POSITIONS. *TR
I AM PROVIDING A FOLLOW-UP ON MY 2013 DODGE RAM. BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER HAVE WORKED ON MY TRUCK NUMEROUS TIMES TO KEEP THE TRUCK PANEL LIGHTS FROM COMING ON. I AM STILL LOSING MY BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE CLUSTER PANEL CONTINUE TO KEEP GOING ON WHICH IS JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY NOW. I HAVE FINALLY PARKED THE TRUCK AND PLAN TO SEE IF WE CAN AFFORD A THIRD VEHICLE. THE PROBLEMS ARE ALMOST A YEAR OLD AND I AM CONVINCED CHRYSLER IS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I AM CONVINCED THAT IT WILL ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I CRASH AS I NEVER GET A WARNING WHEN THE BRAKES OR THE POWER STEERING WILL FAIL. THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER ARE NOW VERY INVOLVED, WHICH I APPRECIATE BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I HAS BEEN CLOSE TO A YEAR AND I AM BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. I HOPE THEY SOMEDAY REPAIR THE TRUCK AS IT REALLY IS A GREAT VEHICLE. *TR
2013 DODGE RAM. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE LEFT REAR WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE REAR AXLE SHEARED OFF, AND THE BRAKE CALIPER BROKE OFF, AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKES. THE WHEEL AND TIRE WERE PUNCTURED BY THE CALIPER BRACKET, AND WENT INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPIN. THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AGAINST THE FREEWAY CEMENT CENTER DIVIDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT SOME GEARS EITHER IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OR TRANSFER CASE BROKE BEFORE THE AXLE SHEARED OFF OF THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN, THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOISY AND LOCKING UP, THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALSO NOISY AND NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. HE ALSO STATED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS MAKING A HOWLING NOISE AND HAD EXTENSIVE VIBRATION. THE TECHNICIAN BELIEVED THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS CAUSED BY SOME TYPE OF GEAR FAILURE. THE BROKEN AXLE SHOWED STRESS FRACTURES/CRACKS DUE TO POSSIBLE METAL FATIGUE. THE DEALER STATED THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS CAUSED BY THE DRIVER.
2013 DODGE RAM 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REMOTE CD CHANGER. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE CD CHANGER AND ARM REST WITH THREE CUP HOLDERS. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS TO GO THROUGH SEVERAL OBSTACLES, IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE CD'S.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE RPM'S INCREASED TO 1100 AS THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE CONTINUOUSLY OCCURRED OVER A PERIOD OF EIGHT MONTHS HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
ON AUGUST 26TH I WAS TRAVELING IN MY TRUCK AT ABOUT 58MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. AS I ENTERED A 45MPH SPEED ZONE I TAPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE. THE TRUCK MAINTAINED SPEED SO I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL MANY TIMES WITH THE TRUCK NOT SLOWING DOWN. I THEN HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES QUITE HARD TO SLOW DOWN. WHILE DOING THIS I NOTICED A MESSAGE COME UP ON THE INFO SCREEN WHICH READ SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. AFTER STOPPING I CHECKED TO SEE IF SOMETHING LIKE A FLOORMAT WAS PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHICH THERE WAS NOT. THIS SAME SITUATION HAPPENED AGAIN ON AUGUST 30TH. I CONTACTED SOUTH LAKE MOTORS, THE LOCAL RAM DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SEPT. 4. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN AND THEY FOUND A CODE IN THE COMPUTER, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IN THE FOLLOWING 2 WEEKS THE SAME THING HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN FROM A SPEED OF BETWEEN 55 AND 60MPH, EXCEPT I DID NOT HAVE THE CRUISE ON. THEY LOOKED IT OVER AGAIN ON SEPT 19 AND DECIDED TO PUT A NEW ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN IT ON SEPT. 20TH. THE NEXT DAY IT STUCK AGAIN AS I TRIED TO SLOW FOR A TRUCK TURNING IN FRONT OF ME, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO REAR END THAT VEHICLE. SEPT 27TH I TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY STILL COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ON OCT 7 I ONCE AGAIN DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF AT THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT FOR 5 DAYS TRYING TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. ON OCT 13 WHILE TRAVELING AT 45MPH I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE TRUCK MAINTAINED SPEED, I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW IT DOWN TO NEGOTIATE A CORNER WITHOUT WRECKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIME SINCE THEN. ON OCT 21ST I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED A DATA RECORDER TO RECORD THE EVENTS.THE MECHANIC AND OTHER DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEES HAVE TOLD ME THIS TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER DAILY TELLING THEM THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. *TR
THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME IN THE TWO WEEKS I OWNED THIS RAM 1500 TRUCK AFTER PURCHASING IT NEW THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCE A FAILURE OF THE TORQUEFLITE 8 SPD TRANSMISSION AND/OR ELECTRONIC ROTARY SHIFTER. A WEEK EARLIER I REPORTED TO RAM AND TO NHTSA A REPEATED FAILURE OF THIS TRUCK ON A BOAT RAMP TO ENGAGE IN PARK EVEN WITH THE ENGINE OFF AS THE TRUCK WAS "SLOW ROLLING" DOWN THE RAMP. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO DOCUMENT THE FAILURE BY VIDEO ON MY CELL PHONE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 MPH ON A SIDE STREET IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE. I SLOWED THE TRUCK TO A ROUTINE STOP AT A STOP SIGN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I THEN TRIED TO PULL ONTO THE INTERSECTING HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AS EXPECTED WHEN I TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE, ACTING AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT TOUCHED THE ROTARY SHIFTER ON THE DASH NOR ANY OF THE 2WD/4WD OPTION BUTTONS. THERE WAS NOT ANY PERCEPTIBLE SOUND OR FEEL INDICATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD "POPPED" OUT OF GEAR. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE "D" LIGHT ON THE SHIFTER WAS ODDLY FLASHING ON/OFF WHILE THE 2WD LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED SOLID AS EXPECTED. I TRIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TWO MORE TIMES WITH NO CHANGE. AFTER WHIPPING OUT MY CELL PHONE TO VIDEO THIS FAILURE I WAS ABLE TO RESET THE DRIVE ENGAGEMENT BY MOVING THE SHIFTER TO PARK FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS AND THEN BACK TO "D". THE TRUCK THEN RESPONDED NORMALLY AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. *JS
WHEN WE PURCHASED THE RAM 1500/V6 ENGINE PICKUP TRUCK NEW IN APRIL 2013, JOHNSON DODGE, BUDD LAKE, NJ, IT DID NOT HESITATE AND RAN WELL. OVER THE NEXT THREE MONTHS IT SLOWLY DEVELOPED AN SIGNIFICANT, ONE SECOND PLUS, HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THE SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] AT JOHNSON DODGE TEST DROVE AND AGREED THERE WAS A HESITATION BUT COULDN'T/CAN'T FIX/ADJUST IT DO TO EVERYTHING BEING CONTROLLED BY COMPUTER MODULES. HE SAID, "UNTIL THEY, (RAM ENGINEERS), RELEASE A SOFTWARE FIX/UPDATE OR TECH BULLETIN, THERE WAS NOTHING HE/THEY COULD DO." THIS HESITATION IS SO SEVERE IT REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO ANTICIPATE THE DELAY AND THAN PRE-PRESS THE ACCELERATOR WHEN CROSSING A STREET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR OTHER SITUATION REQUIRING TIMELY ACCELERATOR RESPONSE. ON A STEEP GRADE (BOAT RAMP WITH AN EMPTY 700 LB TRAILER IN TOW) WHILE BACKING IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE VEHICLE FRONT FACING UP HILL I PLACED THE TORQUEFLITE 8 SPEED ELECTRONIC DIAL TRANSMISSION ON MY 4X4 TRUCK INTO PARK, SET THE PARKING BRAKE, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND THE TRUCK STARTED SLOW ROLLING (CREEPING) DOWN THE STEEP GRADE. I THEN STARTED THE TRUCK AND PULLED UP THE GRADE 2 FEET AND PERFORMED THE SAME OPERATION AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I THEN SWITCHED FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO 4 WHEEL LOCK, PUT THE DIAL TO PARK, SET THE PARKING BRAKE, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND AFTER ABOUT 45 SECONDS THE TRUCK ONCE AGAIN STARTING SLOW ROLLING DOWN THE HILL AND WOULD HAVE ROLLED INTO THE RIVER HAD I NOT JUMPED IN AND HIT THE FOOT BRAKE. THE LAST TIME IT WAS ROLLING I COULD SEE BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS ROLLING AND NOT SLIDING. IT APPEARS THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEVER ACTUALLY SHIFTED TO THE PARK POSITION EVEN THOUGH THE DIAL AND DASH LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE HORN FAILED TO SOUND AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE HORN WOULD ACTIVATE ONLY WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE LOGO THAT WAS AFFIXED IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,900.
EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IT HAS JERKED WHEN COMING TO A STOP. SOMETIMES ONE TO THREE JERKS, IF I WAS NOT BRAKING IT WOULD STILL BE ENGAGED AND MOVE FOREWORD. NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RECALL ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER THREE TIMES. FIRST THEY SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. SECOND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS OK, THEY SAID THE SERVICE MANAGER TEST DROVE IT AND IT WAS FINE. THIRD TIME THEY WOULDN'T TAKE IT, TOLD ME THE IT WAS "NORMAL" FOR A DODGE TRUCK! SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME SHE HAD A DODGE AND IT DOES THE SAME. EXPLAINED TO HER I HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL ONE-TON DODGE TRUCKS AND NONE OF THEM HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. FEAR THAT IT WILL JUMP FOREWORD AT A STOP AND HIT SOMETHING AND THAT WHEN IT FINALLY DOES GO OUT, I WILL BE CHARGED WITH REPLACING EVERYTHING INVOLVED. COULD NOT LOCATE WORK ORDERS BUT HAVE THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,300.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

SHOWS KEY IN IGNITION WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO LOCK DOORS, RADIO STAYS ON, DASHBOARD LIGHTS STAY ON, DO NOT NEED KEY WITH CHIP TO START TRUCK. BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND FIXED IGNITION. 1OCT2013 BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR SAME IGNITION ISSUE. DEALERSHIP OPENED CASE STAR CASE WITH CHRYSLER. TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT WHEN KEY WAS NOT PUT IN COMPLETELY STRAIGHT IT LOCKS A TUMBLER CAUSING THIS ISSUE. DUPLICATED SAME ISSUE ON 2 NEW DODGE RAM TRUCKS ON THEIR LOT. ENGINEER FROM CHRYSLER ADVISED ACTING AS DESIGNED AND RESOLUTION IS TO RE-EDUCATE CUSTOMER HOW TO INSERT KEY. I (THE CONSUMER) OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER MYSELF ([XXX]AT 800-992-1997 WHICH IS ALSO TIED TO THE DEALERSHIP STAR CASE THEY FILED) TO ESCALATE FOR A BETTER RESOLUTION. BESIDES THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE AT CALL BACKS AND UNABLE TO REACH ANYONE IN MANAGEMENT (I HAVE A DETAILED LIST OF PEOPLE, CALL TIMES, DATES, EMPLOYEE IDS) I ALSO RXD THE SAME RESOLUTION, NO ISSUE FOUND, ACTING AS DESIGNED. WE HAD A TOTAL TIRE FAILURE ON OUR 2013 DODGE RAM TIRE. THEY ARE GOODYEAR P27560R20 SR-A THIS TIRE BLEW OUT AT 60 MPH ON A STATE HIWAY IN NEAR BURNS OR. THE ROAD WAS CLEAR OF ANY OBJECTS. THIS TIRE SPLIT FROM BEAD COIL TO BEAD COIL, IN A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT LINE. I HAVE CONTACTED GY AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THE OLD FIRESTONE TWO STEP. NOT OUR PROBLEM. THERE WAS 5000 MILES (ABOUT) ON THE TIRE AT THE TIME AND MOST ON THIS TRIP. HAD 4 TIRE SHOP LOOK AT THE TIRE ON THIS TRIP TRYING TO GET A REPLACEMENT. ALL THE TIREMEN THAT SEEN THE TIRE SAID THEY HAD NEVER SENN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. I HAVE ALSO FOUND OTHER ON COMPLAINT SITES THAT TELL THE SAME STORY. ON ABOUT 3JUL13, MY WIFE AND I FOUND OUT THAT THE RUNNING LIGHTS FOR OUR TRAVEL TRAILER WEREN'T WORKING. ALL OTHER LIGHTS WERE WORKING, SO WE CONTINUED DRIVING DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. ON RETURNING HOME, I FOUND OUT THAT THE TRAILER LIGHTS WORKED WHEN HOOKED UP TO A BATTERY, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER GOING TO THE APPROPRIATE PRONG IN THE WIRING HARNESS EVEN THOUGH THE RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE TRUCK FUNCTIONED. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE A FUSE HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE TRUCK. THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN TOLD ME HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS TRUCK IF: - THE TRAILER WAS PLUGGED IN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS STARTED - THE LIGHTS HAD BEEN LEFT ON "AUTO" OR THE RADIO WAS LEFT ON. THIS PRESENTS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD IF I'M PULLING A TRAILER AT NIGHT AND FORGET TO TURN MY LIGHTS OFF AUTO OR LEAVE MY RADIO ON PRIOR TO STARTING THE VEHICLE. I ONLY DO LIGHT CHECKS ON MY TRAILER ONCE A DAY, NOT EVERY TIME I STOP FOR A BREAK. THE TRAILER HAS NOT BEEN A CAUSE OF SHORTS ON PREVIOUS VEHICLES. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT AND SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL ERROR MESSAGE COMES ON APPROXIMATELY 40-50 MILES AFTER REFUELING. TRUCK GOES INTO LIMP MODE THEN CLEARS ITSELF AFTER STARTING 4 OR 5 TIMES OVER THE PERIOD OF A DAY OR TWO. DEALER CAN'T LOCATE THE PROBLEM. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW. DEALER HAS UPDATED SOFTWARE, REPLACED GAS TANK, REPLACED GAS CAP, AND REPLACED TPS. SAME ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. *TR
RECENTLY I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH MY 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. I WAS STRUCT BY A CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND HIT DIRECTLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE,(T-BONED) THE TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH SIDE AIR BAGS AND FRONT AIR BAGS,WHICH NEVER DEPLOYED. THE ACCIDENT BROUGHT EXTENSIVE DAMAGES TO THE TRUCK AND INJURIES TO MY WIFE AND I. I REPORTED THE NON DEPLOYMENT TO DODGE IN WHICH CASE A SPECIAL INSPECTOR WAS SENT OUT TO THOMAS DODGE WHERE HE RAN DIAGNOSTICS OF THE AIRBAGS COMPUTER. NO FAULT SIGNALS WERE FOUND. DODGE RESPONSE TO THE INVESTIGATION WAS ! IMPACT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO MERIT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT!. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAFETY SAYS THE BAG IS INFLATED AT A CERTAIN CRASH THRESHOLD, USUALLY CORRESPONDING TO A SPEED OF THE IMPACTING VEHICLE OF MORE THAN 15-20 KM/H. DODGE REFUSED TO ACT ON IT SO THE QUESTION SHOULD BE TO MYSELF, DODGE RAM OWNERS AND PERSPECTIVE BUYERS,,,WILL MY AIRBAGS DEPLOY WHEN I NEED THEM TO??? BE WARE.

I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD NEAR MY HOME AND NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY DRIVE BACK TO MY HOUSE. WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE SMELL GOT EVEN STRONGER AND WHITE VAPOR COULD BE SEEN COMING FROM THE HOOD AREA. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE I COULD SEE GASOLINE RUNNING OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY MORNING AND THEY SAID I COULD BRING IT IN BUT THEY WHERE TOO BUSY TO LOOK AT IT TILL THE NEXT DAY AT THE EARLIEST. AFTER 2 MORE DAYS THEY HAD REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE FUEL SUPPLY LINE. COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER DUE TO THIS BEING A SAFETY CONCERN, (DON'T KNOW HOW THE TRUCK DID NOT CATCH FIRE) CHRYSLER SAID THEY WHERE SORRY, BUT SINCE IN THERE OPINION THE ISSUE WAS NOW REPAIRED THEY WHERE NOT INTERESTED IN ANYTHING TO FURTHER REMEDY MY CONCERNS. *TR
THE 8.4" MULTI-DISPLAY TERMINAL (MDT) BECAME INOPERABLE AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL HEAT/AC/DEFROSTER OR VIEW THE BACK UP CAMERA WHICH CREATED AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE COMPUTER UPDATED, RE-FLASHED AND UNTIMELY REPLACED. I'VE HAD TO TAKE OFF FROM WORK SEVERAL TIMES TO BRING THIS VEHICLE IN AND LOST TIME. ON 4/2/14, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WHEN I LEFT THE MDT BECAME INOPERABLE AGAIN AND IS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. *TR
CENTER DASH CLUSTER REBOOTS WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE KEEPS RUNNING WHILE CLUSTER RECYCLES. IT HAS OCCURRED DOZENS OF TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT OCCURS AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SINCE IT FIRST OCCURRED. NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A CLUE AS TO THE ROOT CAUSE. MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST, (MOVE BACK AND FORTH) SOMETIMES. ALSO, IT SHOWS MEMORY SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE WHILE NOT IN PARK. SOMETIMES, THE RADIO VOLUME WILL NOT TURN DOWN, NOR CHANNEL CHANGE WILL NOT WORK. THE RADIO CHANNELS WOULD CHANGE ON THEIR OWN. THIS INCLUDES SATELLITE, RADIO, OR PHONE PLUGGED IN. SOMETIMES, WHEN YOU TRY TO TURN THE A/C FAN SPEED UP IT WON'T GO. YOU HAVE TO DO IT SEVERAL TIMES. TIRE PRESSURE SOMETIMES SHOWS LOW FOR ONE OR MORE TIRES BUT WHEN TIRES ARE TESTED THEY ARE ALL THE SAME PRESSURE. SEEMS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH THE TRUCK. I WORRY SOMETHING MAY HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK WOULD NOT RAISE AND LOWER. MESSAGE ON THE CONSOLE BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND IT DID NOT STORE THE ERROR. ONCE THE ERROR CLEARED UP THERE WAS NO RECORD OF IT STORING THE ERROR. *JS
THIS VEHICLE HAS LEAKED OIL AROUND THE OIL FILTER SINCE THE 1ST OIL CHANGE. THE COMPANY HAS NEVER OWNED UP TO BEING A PROBLEM HOWEVER I'VE HAD A OILED FILLED DRIVEWAY EVER SINCE THEN. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HOW CAN RAM GET AWAY WITH NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. STARTED HAVING ODOR IN CAB MAKING ME DIZZY AND SICK. GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE FOR NEXT 900 MILE. I BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER AND FACTORY TOLD HIM TO RUN IT FOR 2 DAYS. TWO DAYS LATER I GOT IT BACK LESS A HALF A TANK OF GAS. PROBLEM SEEM TO BE SOLVED. TWO DAY LATER SAME THING GOT SICK AND COMPLAINT WAS THEN RAISED TO NEXT LEVEL. FACTORY CHECKED IT AND SAID ITS NORMAL TO BURN OFF. I NOW HAVE 4500 MILES ON IT WITH 113 HOURS ON THE ENGINE AND IT STILL MAKING ME SICK AND BURNING OFF. AFTER BEING SICK 4 TIMES DUE TO THE FUMES I HAD ENOUGH. ON MAY 21 THEY ACKNOWLEDGED MY REQUEST FOR THE MSDS ON THE COSMOLINE THEY SPRAYED ON MY ENGINE AND EXHAUST. AS OF JUNE 21 I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A COPY OF IT. I AM WAITING FOR MY BLOOD TEST FOR GASES TO COME IN TO SEE WHAT IS IN THE FUMES THAT IS CAUSING ME TO REACT TO THE FUMES. I HAD TO CUT SHORT MY VACATION DUE TO BEING SICK AGAIN FROM THE TRUCK SINCE I CAN ONLY DRIVE THE TRUCK IN CLEAR CONDITIONS WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN. IT RAIN FOR TWO DAYS WHEN I GOT SICK LAST. THE FACTORY HAS OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE ONLY THING I COULD FIND ON COSMOLINE WAS IT SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO HEAT SINCE IT BREAKS DOWN AS CO2. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING BUILDING UP IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. *TR
VEHICLE DASHBOARD IS BEGINNING TO BREAK INTO PIECES. THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL HAS A HISTORY OF THE DASHBOARD BREAKING COMPLETELY APART, EXPOSING EVERY ELEMENT OF THE DASHBOARD THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE COVERED. INCLUDING SOME ELEMENTS OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. IT IS NOT ONLY A DANGER TO HAVE LOOSE, SHARP SHARDS OF PLASTIC FLYING AROUND IN THE PASSENGER CABIN, BUT IT HAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE RESALE AND MARKETABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. DODGE AND OR RAM HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO THE CONSUMER TO MAKE GOOD ON THE ORIGINAL INVESTMENT MADE TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VISIBILITY WAS VERY POOR WHEN THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,500.
WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED YELLOW. IT REQUIRED MEDIUM BRAKING EFFORT. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE DRIVERS POWER SEAT ACTIVATED ITSELF AND MOVER ~ 2 INCHES FORWARD WHICH IN TURN ENDED UP APPLYING FAR MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THAN WAS INTENDED. COULD HAVE CAUSED A VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO HIT MY TRUCK. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO VEHICLE BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. I IMMEDIATELY CHECK THE PLACEMENT OF THE SEAT BELT TO SEE IF IT COULD HAVE ACTIVATED THE POWER SEAT SWITCH. THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT NEAR THE POWER SEAT SWITCH. *TR
