I have a failure of the ABS pump and eletrical actuator. I took it to my dealer for an estimate for repair. The dealer told me it was not on the recall list for repair. I was told they could not get a new replacement and want to replace the parts with used parts from the junk yard. I was told that the cost would be $950.00 including the scan but there is no guarantee. Why is this safety issue not covered by a recall? The blog pages for dodge ram are full of people complaining about the failure.
EPS Rack and pinion failure, While driving home my steering lost all power steering, luckily I was abilie to keep it on the road and slow down to pull off the road way if i were at highway speeds I don't believe i would have been able to keep from having an accident where i had to have it towed back to my house because it was undrivable and im glad my wife was not driving at the time because she would not have been abilie to safe it from have an accident. the truck is Available for inspection YES Mine and my Family safety was both put at risk do to almost have an accident running off the road The truck has not been inspected There where NO warning lights or other messages, the only appeared after the Near accident a small red steering wheel flash on the dash and a EPS Steering message in the display.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 25-35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the side of the roadway. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
In January 2023, my 2014 Ram 1500 sport truck got an anti-lock , braking system and Brake light flashing warning ABS lights. I went to the dealer and he said my ABS electronic module was bad and that it was problem with most Ram trucks. I asked when could I get a new module and he said June of 2024. So I went in June and no module. So here I am, driving an unsafe vehicle, and waiting for a part which may never come in. Thanks for listening because this is really a safety issue
The electric steering would intermittently fail while driving causing the steering to become very hard to control. It was a hazard at high speeds which could lead to a crash if not corrected. This same issue has been recalled on later year models of this truck, but the 2014 doesn't have a recall.
My vehicle VIN [XXX] shown "no unprepared recalls". However I saw that there was a past recall for this vehicle. The recall dealt with the digital instrument cluster which gives data on engine management, safety features such as ABS systems, and other safety items. I do not believe my vehicle had ever been repaired. My digital instrument system flashes on and off and many times, as all day today, was completely inoperable. This has been occurring for approx one year and the dealer told me that this was normal, which it is absolutely not. The dealerships around here have a habit of falsely signing off on repairs and recalls especially if the vehicle hit their lot with a recall during a trade-in. The new buyer would have no idea of such recall. Please assist me in getting this unprepared recall repaired. I would also like to address the faulty 8 speed transmissions which shudder and shift unnecessarily. This could cause a sudden loss power on acceleration in heavy high speed traffic and merging onto an interstate. Please look into this. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
While driving on the highway my air suspension fails dropping my front end all the way to the frame stops causing speed wobble and an almost loss of control. After replacing a fuse dude to the compressor failing The very next day the right rear dropped while driving causing unsafe driving conditions. This is the third time in 6mo that this has happened with my truck. My truck is welcome to be inspected anytime. My safety, my kid’s safety, and other on the road are in danger if this happens and I lose control. There was no warning besides a service air suspension immediately notification on my dash as it was happening. There are thousands of reports of this being an issue in 2014-2019 ram trucks with air suspension. The dealer and manufacturer have been no help and I’ve been told by the dealer even after fixing it it will fail again in cold weather. This needs to be addressed NOW this is crazy this has not been corrected by Dodge.
When turning in either direction the steering wheel will get stiff. Due to the steering becoming extremely difficult, I had to have the vehicle towed as I could not control it and put my kids at risk. The truck is at the dealership getting checked out, The service advisor did see the issue when taking it for a test drive. There was no warning or indicator that there was an issue on the dashboard.
Intermittent power steering failure. So far i get a warning of failure on vehicle start up and its very obviously a problem as the steering wheel is extremely difficult to move. The trouble code is not one that is saved, so diagnostics are problematic. I myself have not had a failure on the road, but i know its happened. FCA is aware of this potentially very dangerous problem and issued a recall VB9 but excluded a great number of vehicles. I cannot trust this truck any longer and hope To get the recall expanded. It should not be difficult to imagine the potential for catastrophe here.
When accelerating, gas pedal is sticking to the floor, and continues to accelerate on its own, at high rate of speed
I have a loud ticking noise doing startup which appears to be coming from the engine compartment. Upon further investigation, there are several owners that's having the same problem which they call the hemi tick. This should be investigated as a defect with the 5.7L engine and recalled. My vehicle was purchased new.
Parked vehicle was fine, next day started truck to back out took both hands to turn wheel. Shut , restarted -no difference . Poage dealer Hannibal mo said 2-3 month back order and questionable. Used old part #, got part weeks later $2413.23 part replaced.
Driving 75 on a regular highway and all of a sudden loud clunk and loss of ability to drive and almost caused truck to run into a ditch. Complete fracture of bracket on top of Axel Assembly causing CV Axel to completely come undone and damage to the front end.
The ac/heating system is stuck on the cabin air setting. I have no defrost ability. When the defrost button is activated the air continues to flow into the cabin and not towards the windshield. I live in Colorado with harsh winters. Not being able to defrost my windshield during the winter time is a huge safety issue if my window fogs up while driving and I cannot clear it. Also if there is condensation that freezes on the outside of my windshield I have no ability to melt it while driving. Huge safety issue. My local mechanic said this is a blendoor/actuator problem and will require a service of approximately 1,000$. There was and is currently no warning signal about the problem.
Extreme vibration coming from the passenger right side. The half shaft for the 4 wheel drive is loose on the shaft from the differential. The only way to repair this is to take your differential apart, replace the inner shafts and replace the cv shaft / half shaft. Vehicle can not be driven from 65-80 miles an hour comfortably. This is such a common issue that some companies have come up with design solutions, however the repair is temporary at best as it will happen again since there is no way to prevent dirt from getting in between the shaft of the differential and the cv shaft
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while reversing out a driveway, while accelerating the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle and while restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was running rough. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed that the vehicle had experienced similar failure as NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was 127,000.
Driving on down the roadway and went over a small pothole at approximately 35mph. Heard a loud bang underneath the vehicle. After parking the vehicle, I saw the front of the fuel tank was hanging close to the roadway. I found that the fuel tank strap had pulled out from the frame where it was seated. I researched the issue and saw a recall for 2009-2012 Dodge Ram pickups for the same reason (Safety Recall U04 / NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket). It does not seem Ram/Dodge addressed this issue on the 2014 Dodge Ram. If I had not stopped my full 32 gallon fuel tank would have contacted the ground spilling fuel and possibly catching fire. This is very concerning consider this vehicle is a daily driver for me and my family (wife and four children). I believe this is an issue that also needs to be recalled considering it was done for the 2012 Rams already.
While driving I heard a sound under the truck. When I pulled over I looked under the truck and noted that one of the straps that holds the gas tank up had come loose. Further inspection noted that the strap had not broken, the part where it connected to the frame had rusted out and let the strap loose. When I looked into it I found out there was a safety recall for the same issue in prior model years. I had this repaired at Waldorf Dodge and they did not cover it under the previous recall. Please look into whether there have been other reports of the same issue for later model years than the recall covers.
For numerous years my 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with 4 wheel air suspension has been failing. 1: When it fails it mostly drops the complete left side and the steering wheel is off center to the right approximately a 1/4 turn and alters the steering behavior pulling the truck to the right while driving. This alters the alignment of the truck. 2: The truck also at times drops all of the air out of the system and the truck is riding on its jounce bumpers / suspension stops making it very dangerous to drive. When operating on the roadways with bumps or pulling into parking lots the read of the truck can launch into the air and a hard jarring is felt throughout the truck, and is dangerous to drive on slippery surfaces such as snow/ice covered roadways when the system fails. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer numerous times and Stellantis ( FCA ) has previously sent a representative up only to suggest a new compressor ( Its had 3 now ) which was replaced in the last few months and now the system has failed again. Vehicle has been inspected by a stellantis service service representitive in the early summer of 2022. It displays " Immediate Air Suspension Service/Repair Required " I have taken photos almost every time showing mileage of when the incidents happen. This issue is a North American safety issue with quite a few failures between the USA and Canada. So much so that the Canadian owners have started a class action lawsuit. Napoli Shkolnik Canada are the lawyers filing the class suit. It should be noted that Jeep Grand Cherokee's are also having the same issues.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The vehicle contact stated while starting the vehicle, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle later in the day, the power steering was operable. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering (EPS) gear needed to be replaced, and the contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19E077000 (Steering); however, the part was not available. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,500.
Front has gas strap pulled away from rusted mount portion on frame leading to a lowering of the fuel tank leading to safety hazard of fuel tank no longer being sufficiently secured to the frame of the truck. Faulty mount of strap to frame caused this issue during normal driving conditions.. was informed of recall for issue on ram trucks up to 2012. My year (2014) does not appear to be included.
I was driving truck and was taking a right turn and the steering locked up and I almost smashed into car. I stopped truck and backed up and put onto drive and it took all my strength to turn the wheel to the right. Had truck towed and found out that the electronic steering went bad. This problem needs to be looked at because someone is going to get hurt or killed if the steering goes out at higher speeds
Fuel Gauge sending unit in fuel tank has failed. No idea of how much fuel is in the fuel tank. 60k miles on the vehicle. Do not want to run out of fuel on an interstate or major highway and cause a possible collision.
Exhaust manifold bolts have broken causing a ticking sound upon cold start. This is the passenger side. Same thing happened on drivers side a few years ago. This is a well known problem with Ram Hemi engines and should be considered a manufacturer defect and repaired free of cost
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking violently. There was an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred her to the dealer for assistance. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.
My ABS module and TCS light has been on for several years. I have taken it to the dealer multiple time to have it repaired, only to be told it is on back order. This has been going on for over two years. I have a life time warranty through Chrysler as long as I own the truck. Since the warning lights have been on I have had many instances where my truck has lost control and slipped on the highway most of the time in rain. I have also had my truck lock up once, when a person made a right turn into my lane in front of me, forcing me to hit the breaks. My truck skid through the intersection and almost rear ended the vehicle. I avoid traveling with my family in the truck now.
Loss of powersteering assist on start up. Also loss of steering assist while driving down the road. Has even had no power assist when ambient temp under 32 F degrees out side.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon driving from a complete stop, the vehicle would not exceed 3 MPH as the safety mode engaged. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact parked the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted the next day; however, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The independent mechanic referred the contact to a Chrysler dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where the tone wheel crankshaft, transmission heater, exhaust temperature sensor was replaced, and the transmission fluid was flushed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 86,047.
The powertrain system wore out after only 68,000 miles on the vehicle. This could have caused the axles to lock up going down the road. The dealer is now replacing the powertrain at a cost of $4000 to us. The powertrain on this vehicle was recalled twice and repaired supposedly.
My electric power steering is fixing to cause me to be in a major accident. This should not be happening as I have only had the vehicle two years now. I don't have the funds to fix it and it's my everyday driver. Dodge needs to fix this problem as it is a manufacturing default and it is on them. This has been happening for 19 months now
Electric steering goes out without warning. Could start working at any time later. Definitely a hazard to drive. Took it in for repair and of course it was working and had no code.
Dash digital display screen completely black and not working. The truck was driving fine the day we noticed the screen being black but could not determine speed or anything else. Now the truck will not start.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle was jerking and he noticed a sudden drop in the gas mileage. No warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that he heard an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed the contact that the abnormal ticking sound could be associated with the exhaust manifold failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as an engine cylinder misfire. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the engine would need to be dismantled in order to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
Fuel tank strap (rear) rusted and fell off causing the gas tank to hang down dangerously close to the road. The bracket that holds the "T" end of the strap rusted through and the strap fell out. *THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR 08-12 MODELS* I previously owned a 2012 model and had this taken care of under the recall. The 2014 model looks no different to me, but there is no recall issued for it.
Steering in the truck has been getting more and more difficult (like I'm losing power steering). No visual defects visible but upon further online research, there have been numerous cases of this, resulting in steering lock-up, potentially causing an accident.
I was driving my truck, on a highway, with 4 kids in it when I heard a horrible grinding noise. I stopped and looked under the truck and found that the fuel tank was hanging by 1 strap. I would imagine that if I drove further or hit a bump, the truck would've exploded. The bracket that holds the strap was completely rusted so the strap let go. I did some research online and found that this is a common problem with these trucks. How can there not be a recall??? Luckily I had some racket straps and I crawled under the truck, on the highway, jacked up the tank and strapped it in. I was horrified. I keep my truck in almost pristine condition and with my research, I found out that there were no drain holes installed on the strap mounts which would cause them to prematurely rust. This must be fixed immediately to prevent fatalities.
problems with the heating coolant temperature regulation sometimes not heating at all or cooling too much. Check engine light came on and coded that toe coolant bypass valve was the issue. This has since been replaced 4 times over the last two years . The wiring was checked and working. The mechanic (not Dodge) stated that there was a software update needed that had to come from the manufacturer yet the Dodge dealer will not acknowledge this. Technical Service Bulletin [XXX] . I have experienced power steering loss intermittently in this vehicle for the past two years. It occurs at unexpected times during both local and interstate travel. The unexpected loss of power steering creates problems because the vehicle suddenly becomes very difficult to steer. This has caused several near crashes due to making turns and lane changes.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that during the cold weather months, the "Service Power Steering" message would appear on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the steering wheel would become stiff and excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The steering failure was intermittent at first but became permanent. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ23003 (Steering). The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
in my case it's the hemi tick i took my truck to the dealer they said that i didn't have the tick now but the tech told me if I wanted to replace the lifter and cam it would cost me 6,000.00. The problem is that the oil pump doesn't pump oil into the lifter when idling it's a faulty oil pump and Chrysler isn't taken responsibility. I think it's models from 2013 to 2019 it should be a recall on those models for the oil pump and damage that it causes
No warning can not steer confirm Patterson of Bowie tx part can be inspected when defective part was removed it had" old" painted on it previouslyin reverse when incident occured new parts out of stock
Power steering went out while driving. EPS module needs to be replaced
My 2014 ram 1500 went to the dealership for recalls and a wheel alignment, ecm failed to recognize new software updat and will not start, new chrysler ecm installed and truck still wont accept new software so will not start. Previous experience of a bad tipm insisted on various lights coming on tachometer display, cruise control shutting off at various speeds, engine shutting down and turning off on highway at cruising or passing speeds, had new integrated tipm installed and new Altenator, resoled issues.
Steering assist light on dash blinks for two to three minutes at engine start. Steering wheel locked up. After a few minutes light goes out, steering works fine. This occurs every start up since fall 2022. Larry Miller dodge Tucson confirmed.
When driving the Power Steering Failure warning comes on and you have to fight the wheel to steer the truck. Sometimes you can turn the vehicle off and then start it again and the warning will go off and steering is back to normal. Unpredictable as to when it is going to happen. Happened 4 times and ended up having it towed to the dealership for diagnostics. I called FCA on 8-18-2022 and they said there was a recall on 2013-2019 Ram 1500 trucks (Recall VB9) but that my vehicle was not identified as being a part of that recall. Luckily I was able to stop vehicle before an accident happened and before anyone was hurt.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and produced code: CEL-P206C however, the dealer confirmed that parts were not available for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, and the contact was informed that parts were unavailable. The failure mileage was 105,121. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Electronic Power Steering Failure My wife was driving on 70 miles per hour on the interstate when all of a sudden the red EPS light came on the dash and caused her to struggle to drive and run off the road. An automotive mechanic confirmed the EPS system needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a ticking noise coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Complete loss of steering assist (electric power steering). A large number of vehicles experienced the same issue, but the dealer advised that there was not a factory recall. There were so many failures that aftermarket rebuilds were not available, as only hard parts were replaced during rebuilding. Circuit board failures were not repairable. I paid a RAM dealer over $4200 for repairs, and had to wait 2 months for parts, because so many had previously failed. I would like to see NTSB force a recall, and I would like to recover my repair cost, as the RAM factory is clearly responsible.
