CANNOT PUT IT TO WORK IT WILL NOT HAUL A TRAILER, CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE IT WILL TURN OFF IN BUMPY ROADS, BEEN MARKING ' SHIFT TO DESIRE GEAR TO DRIVE' WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH PEOPLE FROM THE AGENCY ( DON DAVIS ) AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND PROBLEMS. CHANGED SHIFT CRAGTER TWICE, NO LUCK! I TOOK IT WITH THE ENGINGE LIKE TURNED ON AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A 'CODE' THE TRUCK STARTS SHAKING UP BEFORE IT TURNS OFF COMPLETELY. IT'S A MATTER OF SAFETY FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF (ALONG WITH THE ACCOMPANYING "DING"). I THINK THERE IS A SHORT IN THE WIRING UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. WHENEVER I GO OVER BIG BUMPS IT SEEMS TO CAUSE THE ISSUE MORE OFTEN.
I HAVE NOTIFICATIONS OF THESE VARIOUS RECALLS AND HAVE TRIED TO GET THESE CORRECTED OR AT LEAST CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY TRUCK. FIRST I WAS TOLD THAT APPOINTMENTS WERE NOW REQUIRED. THEN I WAS ADVISED THAT 1ST COME/1ST SERVED WAS NOW REQUIRED AND FULL SCHEDULES ARE USUAL. NOW I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTIFICATION. I CARE FOR MY RAM, BUT MY TIME IS ALSO IMPORTANT.
DPF/DEF SYSTEMS CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE. LEVELING SENSOR INSIDE OF THE D.E.F TANK ISN'T REPONDING AND CAUSING TRUCK TO RUN BAD AND CAUSING TRUCK TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE DPF SYSTEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SMOKE AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAPITOL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (3201 MISSOURI BLVD, JEFFERSON CITY, MO 65109, (573) 893-5000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM FAILED, AND THE WIRING HARNESS AND INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
WHEN YOU PUT THE BRAKES ON THE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD DIM DOWN TO VERY DIM WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED THEY COME BACK UP.
THE VEHICLE HAD A BAD EGR COOLER THAT CAUSED THE COOLANT TO ENTER THE COMBUSTION SYSTEM CAUSING EXCESS OVERHEATING OF THE EXHAUST MELTING SEVERAL EXHAUST COMPONENTS. IT WAS HIT ENOUGH TO POTENTIAL CAUSE A FIRE.
MY TRUCK KEEPS ROLLING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS WHEN PUT INTO PARK, ALSO MY CRUISE DONT SHUT OFF OR TURN ON HALF THE TIME.
YESTERDAY WHILE ROUNDING CORNER ON HIGHWAY VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY DID NOT WANT TO TURN FELT LIKE IT WAS BINDING UP. HAD TO USE BOTH HANDS PULLING HARD ON WHEEL TO MAKE CORNER AND THEN THE WHEEL DID NOT CENTER ON ITS OWN. I WENT OUT OF MY LANE OF TRAFFIC FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS IN THE OTHER LANE. STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR.A FEW MINUTES THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON EXIT RAMP. IT HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE IS NO WARNING BEFORE IT HAPPENS AND ELECTRIC ASSIST WARNING LIGHT HAS NEVER ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED. I AM CURRENTLY AT LOCAL REPAIR SHOP HAVING THE TRUCK LOOKED AT. IN THE PAST I OWNED A TOYOTA PICKUP WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND THIS IS 20 TIMES MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN LOSING THE ELECTRIC ASSIST. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL AS ON CITY STREETS. IF CAN HAPPEN ON JUST GENTLE BENDS IN THE ROADWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR LOW SPEED TURNS. THE STEERING IS JUST AS DIFFICULT TO MOVE NO MATTER THE SPEED WHEN IT OCCURS. STEERING WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT'S STUCK BUT WILL MOVE WITH A LOT OF FORCE FROM BOTH HANDS. I ALMOST HIT THE CURB AT LOW SPEED ON THE WAY TO THE REPAIR SHOP THIS MORNING.
WHILE DRIVING, FUEL GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY, DISPLAYS 0 MILES TO EMPTY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND SCREEN DISPLAYS "FUEL SENSOR FAIL". AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE GAUGE WILL GO BACK TO THE CORRECT LEVEL AS WILL THE MILES TO EMPTY, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPLETELY FULL GAS TANK, BUT IS ALSO SPORADIC AND DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL OF THE TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE AT THE DEALER (COLUMBIANA DODGE CHRYSLER, 100 COMMERCE CIRCLE, COLUMBIANA, OH 44404), THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF AN UNKNOWN RECALL FOR HER VEHICLE. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ELECTRONIC COMPUTER BOX SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND A FUEL PUMP RELAY CIRCUIT BOARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN INFORMATION WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR ALL AIRBAG RELATED RECALLS IN THE PAST. AT APPROXIMATELY 53,000 MILES, MY SRS LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON AND 'SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM" MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON DASH. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD NO AND DEALERSHIP WANTS $150 TO LOOK AT VEHICLE. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON RAM PICK-UPS. BECAUSE THE LIGHT COMES ON FOR A DAY OR SO AND GOES OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, I AM WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO STAY ON CONSTANTLY TO PREVENT MYSELF FROM HAVING TO PAY $150 MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE THERE IS NO ACTIVE FAULT WHEN I DROP IT OFF. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AIRBAG RELATED RECALL DUE TO WIRING, THESE VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THEIR AIRBAG SYSTEM. THE FAULT THAT I AM GETTING FROM MY PERSONAL OBDII SCANNER IS "OPEN CIRCUIT ON FRONT DRIVERS SQUIB #2". LIGHT COMES ON WHEN RANDOMLY, EITHER AT FIRST START IF THE DAY, OR AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE. LIGHT AND WARNING GOES OFF IN THE SAME CONDITIONS (RANDOMLY). NEW AIRBAG COSTS $795 AND CLOCK-SPRING IS $295. THESE COSTS ARE FOR PARTS ONLY AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH 53,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS BEING CLOSED, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT AIR BAG ALSO DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RETRACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCOGGIN DICKEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (2483 TX-114, LEVELLAND, TX 79336, (806) 224-0266), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V460000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS) AND 17V302000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
REAR LEFT TAILLIGHT TURN SIGNAL(BLINKER) WENT OUT. CHECKED WITH DEALERSHIP IN GLADSTONE OREGON AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE OVER 300 TAILLIGHTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE WITHIN THE SAME DISTRIBUTION AREA AS THE PORTLAND, OR AREA. THIS SHOULD LIKE A PROBLEM ONCE AGAIN AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE
DRIVING TO WORK 5/7/18 TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE WITH NO CEL'S, ALARMS, WARNINGS OR ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY JUST A NORMAL DRIVE AS USUAL AND THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER. I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION TO TURN RIGHT CAME TO A STOP THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC SO ACCELERATED TO TURN ONTO HIGHWAY FEEDER WHEN I HEARD A WEIRD SOUND AND FELT THE TRUCK DECELERATE. I PUSHED THE PEDAL A LITTLE HARDER AND NOTICED NO CHANGE IN SPEED RPMS WERE DROPPING AS WELL AS BOOST GAUGE I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW A TRAIL OF SMOKE AND BEGAN MAKING MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. WHILE MAKING MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER SMOKE BEGAN COMING INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK AND THE ENGINE DIED, I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND POPPED THE HOOD LATCH WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE ON THE BACK OF THE MOTOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE EGR AND TURBO. IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE HOOD GRABBED A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THE CAB OPENED THE HOOD AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAME. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO BEGAN LOOKING AT THE TRUCK AND SAID IT APPEARED THE EGR GOT HOT OR THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE WIRING SYSTEM. I CONTACTED RAM TO VERIFY MY 5Y/100,000M WARRANTY AS WELL AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED THEY THEN TURNED ME OVER TO FIAT-CHRYSLER WHO SAID THEY WERE ASSIGNING A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND HAS ORDERED THE DEALERSHIP TO STOP ALL WORK UNTIL INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE WHICH COULD TAKE 4 WEEKS. FIAT-CHRYSLER IS ALSO REFUSING TO PROVIDE A LOANER OR RENTAL EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE ONES WHO WANTED TO ASSIGN A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR. DEALERSHIP WAS FAR ENOUGH ALONG IN TEARDOWN BEFORE FIAT-CHRYSLER STOPPED WORK THAT I WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING PICTURES WITH THE PLASTIC COVER REMOVING SHOWING THE MELTED AND BURNED WIRING HARNESS UP AGAINST THE EGR AND MANIFOLD.
FUEL SENSOR FAILURE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES AND GOES WHICH CAUSES THE FUEL GAUGE TO STOP WORKING. NOT UNDER WARRANTY BUT A KNOW PROBLEM. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED WHEN IT IS A OBVIOUS PROBLEM.
instrument cluster/panel Flickers and goes completely dark stay dark/blackout the majority of the time. There is a recall for the year 2014 but only if manufactured between July -August. Ours manufactured in October .this has been an on and off occurrence since maybe 2018 when we took it to the dealer early on it didn’t happen so they couldn’t address it. However it is off more than on and we have seen the recall. The blackout restricts our ability to see and monitor gages.
I HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 SLT 4WD CC I BOUGHT IT ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY FRIEND AND I WERE ABOUT TO TAKE A DRIVE AND WHEN I STARTED IT MY FRIEND WHOM IS A MECHANIC SAID YOU EITHER HAVE AN ENGINE KNOCK OR AN EXHAUST LEEK. WELL I CHECKED IT OUT AT THE DEALER AND WELL THE EXHAUST LEAK WAS DUE TO A BROKEN BOLT IN THE MANIFOLD AND THEN THE DEALER CALLS ME AND SAYS YOU HAVE A LIFTER TAPING THEY SAID THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD FIX IT BUT I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE OF VIDEOS AND FORUMS AND THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON BOTH IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHOM HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM I LOVE MY TRUCK BUT IF YOU SPEND THE KIND OF MONEY THAT WE RAM OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED IVE BEEN TREATED WONDERFUL BY THE DEALER BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE RECODNISED BY CHRYSLER AND FIXED BY CHRYSLER IVE ONLY PUT 20000 MILES ON IT IT ONLY HAS 82000 TOTAL THIS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM YET IF AT ALL I TREAT MY TRUCK LIKE A PART OF THE FAMILY IT GETS SERVICED REGULARLY MY TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE KIND OF ISSUES PLEASE HELP DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS SOMEONE NEEDS TO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT SMELLED FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE FAILED. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. JACKSONVILLE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM ARLINGTON (9600 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225, (877) 677-5782) REPAIRED THE TURBO CHARGER. GALEANA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (14375 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33912, (239) 481-2600) FLUSHED THE ENGINE AND STATED THAT THE WIRE HARNESS WAS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AND WAS TO CLOSE TO THE OIL PAN, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE FAILURES CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER HAD NOT RELEASED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
The CHMSL 3rd brake light has failed in my 2013 RAM 1500. A Virginia State Inspection shop (AAA) indicated no power to the bulb. A RAM dealership's technician indicated it was the TIPM. A second dealership technician stated it is the Body Control Module. The cargo lamp lights do work fine. This was replicated using 2 sets of CHMSL lighting packages (no brake light, working cargo lights). The tail light brake lights work fine. There are no warning lights on the dash to indicate a problem.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 74 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AS THE FRONT SUSPENSION EXPLODED. THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE REPORT INDICATED THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION CAUSED THE FIRE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BURNED HAND, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF
FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY SHORTLY AFTER FILLING UP. THIS CAN CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES IF THE VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF GAS AND LEAVES THE DRIVER STRANDED AS THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS LEFT IN THE TANK. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH RAM TRUCKS AND A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS COUNTLESS PEOPLE THAT HAVE OR ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. OUT OF ALL OF MY YEARS DRIVING, I'VE NEVER KNOWN OF A SINGLE VEHICLE WITH THIS MANY FAILURES OF THIS TYPE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND MESSAGE STATED PROBLEM WITH FUEL SYSTEM SENSOR. GAS GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS FUEL IN THE TANK. BROUGHT TO DEALER - TECHNICIAN VERIFIED CODE P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH; TESTED SYSTEM AND FOUND FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULE. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 32,224 MILES BUT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S OVER 3 YEARS. COST FOR NEW FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS $456 PLUS $347 LABOR ($803 TOTAL). WHEN REVIEWING COMPLAINTS ON THIS YEAR TRUCK/MODEL OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS PART SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND IN MY CASE, SINCE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULES IN 2014 RAM 1500 TRUCKS.
BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE. I APPLIED BRAKES AND HAD A HARD PEDDLE. I HAD TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. DEALER SAID IT WAS INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE. TRUCK HAD 59,906 MILES.
IN EARLY 2018 I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE STEERING ON MY TRUCK WOULD "GUM UP". AS YOU STARTED TO MAKE A TURN THE STEERING WOULD BE FINE BUT THEN AS YOU CONTINUED THROUGH THE TURN IT WOULD TAKE MORE EFFORT TO TURN THE WHEEL. IT NEVER COMPLETELY LOCKED UP BUT THEN GO BACK TO NORMAL. TO ME IT SEEMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS FAILING OR LOW ON FLUID. WHEN I CHECKED I FOUND THAT THERE IS NO PUMP BUT AN ELECTRONIC MOTOR ASSIST FOR THE STEERING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REGULAR SERVICE AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT BUT SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE MY COMPLAINT. I TRIED TO INVESTIGATE WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN BUT THERE WAS NO COMMON THING. ON APRIL 14TH I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT EVEN WHILE TRACKING IN A STRAIGHT LINE THE TRUCK STEERING WOULD GUM UP . AS LONG AS I THINK ABOUT IT I DON'T WORRY BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL FAIL COMPLETELY. I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD NO ONE TO LOOK AT IT. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER ON THE 17TH BUT AGAIN I COULD FEEL IT GOING BUT NOTHING WHILE I HAD THE MECHANIC IN THE TRUCK. SOMETIMES I CAN FEEL IT WHILE STATIONARY AND JUST TURNING THE WHEEL. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IT GOES AWAY ON RAINY DAYS. ALMOST LIKE THE STEERING IS GETTING LUBRICATED BUT ONCE THE WEATHER IS DRY FOR A FEW DAYS THE GUMMY FEELING COMES BACK. THE DEALER DID SAY THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT DID NOT LOOK LIKE IT WAS LEAKING BUT WHEN I WAS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK I SAW THAT THE RUBBER BOOTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE UNIT APPEARED TO BE STAINED (SEE PIX)
TIPM...TRUCK WAS MOBILE AT NIGHT IN RAIN WHEN IT DIED AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD...DENSE OBNOXIOUS SMOKE POURED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND INTO CAB WHERE MY GRANDCHILD WERE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY IT CAUSING SERIOUS BREATHING PROBLEMS AND COUGHING. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY CHRYSLER TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS. ACCORDING TO CODES FROM OBD-II SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL OF AIRBAGS EXPLODING WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY TIME...
THE FUEL SENSOR FAILS AND CAUSES THE DRIVER TO RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE GAS GAUGE ONLY WORKS WHEN THE TANKS IS EXTREMELY FULL ONCE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR FIVE MILES IT GOES THE GAUGE READS EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AS A RESULT THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL IS LEFT IN THE TANK.
TRUCK TOOK BRIEF PERIODS WHERE IT WOULD JUST SUDDENLY DIE GOING DOWN THE ROAD, THEN THE LAST TIME RUNNING ABOUT 60 MPH, IT DIED NOT FAR FROM HOME AND SMOKE BILLOWED OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD WAFTING ITS WAY INSIDE THE CAB...SON-IN-LAW FOUGHT THE STEERING AND MANAGED TO BRING IT TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD...WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTERS IN THE BACK SEAT....THEY WERE ALMOST OVERCOME BY THIS BLACK OBNOXIOUS SMOKE AND BOTH SUFFERED FOR THE LONGEST TIME A HARSH, DRY COUGH...I NOTICED THERE ARE LIMITED RECALLS ON THIS MODEL OF TRUCK AND NONE SEEM TO BE RELATED TO ELECTRICAL FIRES UNDER THE HOOD...HOW EVER THESE VEHICLES ARE UNSAFE AND POSE A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO ALL THE MOTORING PUBLIC...THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND ALL OF THEM DESTROYED TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND THE PASSENGERS...DEALERSHIP SATED THE 'BRAIN BOX AND STARTER BURNED UP' AND IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE...BUT THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF MY GRANDCHILDREN ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN CHRYSLER'S PROFIT MARGIN.
I LIVE IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA. THE AIR SUSPENSION BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS THE FIRST WINTER I OWNED THE TRUCK. THE SUSPENSION WOULD NOT OPERATE PROPERLY DURING NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES. I BROUGHT IT IN TO GET SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES, AND I WAS TOLD IT IS NORMAL DURING NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES. THIS PAST WINTER, THE 40 AMP FUSE FOR THE SUSPENSION STARTED BLOWING. IT HAS NOW BLOWN THREE TIMES THIS WINTER, AND THE LAST TWO TIMES AS BARELY BEEN BELOW FREEZING. IT HAS BLOWN TWICE IN THE LAST 24 HOURS. WHEN THE FUSE BLOWS, THE TRUCK, DANGEROUSLY, LOWERS TO THE STOPS. IT DOES NOT HANDLE PROPERLY OR SAFELY UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.
5.7L HEMI LIFT/CAN FAILURE!!!!! I AM A RAM OWNER AND HAVE HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH MY 2014 RAM 1500 AT AROUND 135,000 MILES MY ENGINE STARTED TO TAP IN A RITHUM AND WAS GETTING LOUDER BY THE DAY. DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT A LOT OF FOLKS ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH LIFTER COLLAPSING AND DESTROYING THE CAM. TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD EXACTLY WHAT I HAD READ ABOUT A LOT OF FOLKS SAYING THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE HEMI. NOT ONLY IN THE RAM MODELS BUT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS AND CHALLENGERS AS WELL EQUIPPED WITH THE HEMI ENGINE AS WELL. THIS REPAIR COST ROUGHLY 3500.00 OR MORE TO HAVE REPAIRED. AND CHRYSLER SHOULD HELP COVER THE COST ON REPAIRS. I AM VERY UPSET WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS AND AT THIS TIME MAY NEVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHIFTED TO THE PARK POSITION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN WHICH ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. A DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
RAM STARTED DYING IN DECEMBER 2017 WHILE DRIVING AT HWY SPEED. ALL ELECTRIC POWER REMAINED, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON OR ABOUT 1 JANUARY 2018, ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THAT DAY, THE ENGINE SURGED 2 TIMES WITHOUT DYING. DEALER VERIFIED A U1424 TROUBLE CODE RECORDED 3 TIMES. DEALER HAD THE RAM FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK AND COULD NOT MAKE IT DUPLICATE, BUT INDICATED THEY WERE GOING TO CHANGE THE CRANKSHAFT SENOR. THEY DID NOT DO THE REPAIR. DEALER CLEARED THE CODE AND I RETRIEVED IT. THE RAM CONTINUED TO DIE, BUT HAS NOT PRESENTED A TROUBLE CODE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DODGE/RAM (CASE#33123585) TO WHICH THEY RECENTLY DETERMINED THAT UNTIL THE RAM CANNOT MOVE UNDER ITS OWN POWER, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, DESPITE THE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE DECEMBER, THE RAM HAS NOW DIED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES AND SURGED MORE TIMES THAN I REMEMBER. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PULLED INTO THE DITCH AS I TRIED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. 3 TIMES, I'VE NARROWLY MISSED BEING REAR-ENDED AFTER THE RAM DIED TWICE WHILE NAVIGATING THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ONCE WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS MORNING IT AGAIN DIED AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO NAVIGATE A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT DIED UNTIL I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. BY THAT TIME, I BARELY HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND SWERVE TO KEEP FROM REAR-ENDING ME. THAT INDIVIDUAL CONFRONTED ME IN A VERY HOSTILE MANNER, BUT I DIFFUSED THE SITUATION WHEN I EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE ATTITUDE OF DODGE/RAM IS VERY CONCERNING AS THEIR "POLICY" OUTWEIGHS THE SAFETY OF ME, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE AND TIRE ROTATION, I WAS TOLD THAT ALL 4 GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A DOT M5YNJB1R0314 NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY WERE NOT ROTATED BECAUSE OF TINY CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS ALL THE WAY AROUND EACH TIRE. THE TREAD IS STILL LIKE NEW AND ONLY 13,158 MILES. THESE TIRES WERE ON MY NEW TRUCK WHEN I PURCHASED IT. JUST TO COMPARE: MY 2005 RAM STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL TIRES ON IT WITH ONLY SLIGHT WEAR ON TREAD WHEN I TRADED IT IN 9 YEARS LATER.
ON FEBRUARY I DROVE FROM MY HOME SEVERAL MILES TO A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT TAKING AN INTERSTATE ON THE WAY. I USED MY CRUISE CONTROL ON MY WAY THERE AND JUST PRESSED THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE IT WHEN I EXITED THE INTERSTATE. I THEN CONTINUED TO THE DRIVE TO THE RESTAURANT WHERE I PULLED INTO A LINE TO THE DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW AS I MOVED THROUGH THE LINE I WOULD APPLY MY BRAKE TO STOP AND AS CARS PULLED FORWARD I JUST LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO SLOWLY MOVE FORWARD THEN PRESSED THE BRAKE AGAIN TO STOP. I DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES THEN SUDDENLY WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE MY TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BEFORE I COULD STOP IT. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED ON THE TRUCK AT 60,000 MILES. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING ON THE TRUCK. IT WAS DETERMINED THE CONTROL MODULE FAILED BUT WAS NOT REPLACEABLE BY ITSELF SINCE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK UNIT IS SEALED SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SEEN IN OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THIS TRUCK AND RAM ACTUALLY ISSUED A RECALL ON ONLY 440 2016 MODELS UNDER RECALL S19 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN 16V167000. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND CAN OBVIOUSLY BE VERY DANGEROUS LOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. IN TRYING TO GET HOME I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH IN A 75 MPH ZONE AND HIT A PATCH OF ROUGH ROAD AND SOME SNOW AND THE TRUCK WENT SIDE WAYS 7/8 TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FOR KNOWN ISSUES, WITCH I FOUND ONE ON CHRYSLER 3.6 MOTORS YEAR MODEL 2014 WITCH WAS OILCOOLER/HOUSING CRACKING. THIS IS THE ENGINE MY TRUCK HAS AS WELL. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE TRUCK OVER THIS WAS THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK. THE OIL LEAK IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND ENGINE BLOCK AND RUNS DOWN BACK OF ENGINE TO BOTTOM OF TRUCK. WITH THE AMOUNT OF ISSUES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND IN A MATTER OF MINUTES OF SEARCHING AND AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THAT PART HAD BEEN REDESIGNED BY THE DEALERSHIP I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.
