THERE IS A FAINT PROPANE-LIKE SMELL COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS WHEN TRUCK IS AT IDLE. *TR
TRUCK WAS PARKED, WE EXITED THE TRUCK, I WAS GETTING BAGS OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND A FRIEND WAS GETTING HIS TOOL BOX OUT OF THE BED AND WHEN HE LEANED IN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL. IT ROLLED 15 FEET AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A SNOW BANK. I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND VERIFIED IT WAS IN PARK. *TR
THERE IS A NASTY PROPANE SMELL COMING FROM THE TRUCK, I HAVE NOTICED THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ANTIFREEZE THAT IS BEING USED AND IS CAUSING A CHEMICAL REACTION WITH THE RUBBER HOSES. SYSTEM HAS TO BE FLUSHED AND NEW ANTIFREEZE ADDED AND ALL RUBBER HOSES REPLACED. *TR
SWERVED TO MISS A DEER. BRUSHED A BANK WITH THE TIRE ONLY. NO DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. JUST AIRBAG DAMAGE TO INTERIOR. *TR
WHEN TRUCK IS DOWN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 1ST THE TRUCK SLAMS INTO FIRST AND MAKES A CLUNKIMG SOUND. DEALERSHIP FLASHED THE COMPUTERS AND I HAVE DRIVEN 2300 MILES WITH THE PROBLEM REMAINING. *TR
DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT WITH BOTH HEADLIGHTS AND FOG (DRIVING) LIGHTS ON DOES NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH ILLUMINATION FOR SAFE TRAVEL. MY WIFE AND I BOTH NOTICED SEVERAL TIMES THAT YOU CANNOT SEE AT NIGHT WHEN THERE IS ANY WET PAVEMENT SURROUNDING THIS VEHICLE. ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR LIGHTS ON THE PAVEMENT (SCARY!). IN ADDITION, I DROVE THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AT NIGHT AND FOUND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE WITH THE STOCK LIGHTING SUPPLIED BY DODGE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I REPLACED THE STOCK SYSTEM WITH AN AFTERMARKET HID SYSTEM TO CORRECT THE DEFECT AT CONSIDERABLE PERSONAL EXPENSE. I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED DODGE TO SUPPLY A VEHICLE OF THIS TYPE WITH PROPER LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY. PLEASE SEE PRIOR MODEL YEARS COMPLAINTS. DODGE REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE SAFETY COMPLAINTS BEEN MADE REGARDING IT. ALSO CHECK DODGE TRUCK FORUMS AND YOU WILL SEE THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING STOCK LIGHTING SYSTEMS ON RAM VEHICLES. *TR
WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 40 DEGREES THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. I CAN MOVE THE TRUCK IN REVERSE OK BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT DOES NOT WANT TO MOVE. IT REVVS UP BUT WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED. I HAD THIS TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS BUT THEY HAVE NO FIX AT THIS TIME. THERE ONLY ANSWER IS TO LET THE TRUCK WARM UP FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING IT. I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR TRYING TO GET GOING AND I AM AFRAID THAT IF I LET SOMEONE ELSE I N MY FAMILY USE THIS TRUCK THAT THEY MIGHT NOT BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK SHIFTS PROPERLY AFTER TRAVELING SEVERAL BLOCKS. THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS KIT IS HAPPENING NOW WITH THE TEMPERATURE I THE 40'S. *TR
THERE IS A CONTINUOUS UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL DRAW CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN TO THE POINT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. AN ELECTRICAL SURGE WILL CAUSE THE ELECTRIC SUSPENSION TO ACTIVATE ALONG WITH THE CONSOLE CLUSTER AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES AND NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER HAS A FIX. THE CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE AND NOW THERE IS A NEW ISSUE AFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN PURCHASE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE I FEEL IS SAFER. ON APRIL 3, 2014, THE DISTRICT CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE DENIED THE REQUEST. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR MULTIPLE POSSIBLE REASONS BUT ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT HE ALTERNATOR. THE ALTERNATOR'S FUNCTION IS TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY ONCE IT'S BEEN USED TO START THE ENGINE. AND TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED WHEN VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE USED IN THE VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR DETERMINES HOW MUCH TO CHARGE THE BATTERY BY MEASURING THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE FROM THE BATTERY. IF THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY WHERE THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE IS VERY LOW, THE ALTERNATOR WILL TRY TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE ALTERNATOR ISN'T DESIGNED TO RECHARGE A DEAD BATTERY. IT'S INTENDED TO MAINTAIN THE CHARGE ON A GOOD BATTERY. WHEN THIS DOES HAPPEN, THE ALTERNATOR BEGINS TO RUN HOT, AND THIS IS WHAT KILLS THE ALTERNATOR. A DEAD BATTERY WHILE DRIVING MEANS NO ELECTRIC STEERING, NO ANTILOCK BRAKES, NO AIR BAGS, ECT. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE NEW RAM TRUCKS USE A DIAL LIKE SHIFTER THAT CHRYSLER IS CALLING THE "ROTARY SHIFTER" IN WHICH THE DRIVER USES TO SELECT THE TRANSMISSION POSITION FROM PARK OR DRIVE. THE SYSTEM IS CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES IN CONFUSING DRIVERS THINKING THAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, VAN SPEED CONTROL, OR EVEN THINKING THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK WHEN ACTUALLY IN DRIVE. WITH OUR INCIDENT THE DRIVER THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK HOWEVER IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE DRIVER STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT STARTED MOVING FORWARD CAUSING A COLLISION TO ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHIN OUR GARAGE LODGING THE DRIVERS HEAD IN THE TOP PORTION OF THE DOOR AND LEG IN THE LOWER CAUSING INJURY NOT TO MENTION DAMAGE TO EACH VEHICLE INVOLVED. THE DAMAGE COMBINED TO FOR BOTH VEHICLES IS WELL OVER $2,000 FOR A MINOR COLLISION AND ALSO TWO SEPARATE COLLISION CLAIMS ON OUR AUTO POLICY. CHRYSLER IS CALLING IT A DIVER ERROR AFTER REPORTING IT TO THEM UNDER CLAIM #24280455. WE FEEL AND AFTER TALKING WITH OTHERS IN THE PUBLIC IN JUST THIS SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS OTHERS IN OUR AREA ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE HOWEVER NO ONE WAS INJURED OR IN A COLLISION FROM OTHERS THAT WE HAVE TALKED WITH THUS FAR. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING OUR NEW TRUCK (ONLY 13 DAYS OLD) AND CAME UP BEHIND A CAR GOING 25MPH IN A 50MPH ZONE. WE SLOWLY ACCELERATED THE TRUCK TO PASS THE VEHICLE. DURING THIS ACCELERATION, WE SAW LARGE AMOUNTS OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM BOTH TAILPIPES. THEN A BRIEF SINGLE CHIME STARTED FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. BECAUSE IT WAS A NEW TRUCK WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND THERE WAS NO SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. WE CONTINUED UP THE ROAD AND THE CHIMING INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND WHITE SMOKE BEGAN TO COME INTO THE CAB AND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE CAME TO SIDE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. WE GOT OUT AND THE WHITE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BELLOW FROM UNDER HOOD. AFTER TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF, THE SMOKE SLOWLY SUBSIDED. WE TOWED THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER ON A FLATBED. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE UNSAFE. THEY ARE SO DIM YOU CANT SEE ANYTHING IN FRONT OF YOU AT NIGHT. THE BRIGHTS WERE ON FOR 15 MILES AND NOT ONE CAR FLASHED THERE BRIGHTS AT ME. LOOKING AT THE INTERNET THEY ARE 1000S COMPLANTS OF DODGE RAM HEADLIGHTS. THE DEALER WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT AT JUST TELL YOU TO CHANGE THE BULBS AND THAT DOES NOTHING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TAKEN CARE OF RIGHT AWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF LINE BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ALTER IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,500. ... UPDATED 03/24/14 *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT AN ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED BALANCING. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I HAVE AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE WITH VEHICLE THAT IS CAUSING FEATHERING OF RIGHT FRONT TIRE THAT HAS NOT/CANNOT BE CORRECTED BY ALIGNMENT IN TWO ATTEMPTS TO DATE. DEALING WITH MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER CARE, MY ASSIGNED CASE NUMBER IS 26625890. MANUFACTURER HAS NOW SUGGESTED A ROAD FORCE BALANCE OF ALL FOUR TIRES, AFTER TWO ALIGNMENTS HAVE FAILED TO CORRECT FEATHERING PROBLEM. HAVE MONITORED HEAT BUILDUP ON THAT TIRE IN RELATION TO THE OTHER THREE AND FIND HEAT BUILDUP EXCEEDS 110 DEGREES ABOVE OTHER THREE. HAVE ALSO DISCOVERED THREE OTHER TRUCKS OF SAME MANUFACTURER, MODEL THAT ARE EXHIBITING SAME PROBLEM, ONE OWNER ALSO HAS OPEN CASE WITH CUSTOMER CARE AS WELL, HIS CASE NUMBER IS 26745473. WE BOTH SEEM TO BE GETTING NOTHING BUT LIP SERVICE FROM DEALERS AND NOT MUCH MORE FROM MANUFACTURER, WITH NO SINCERE EFFORT TO GET TO ROOT CAUSE OF PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION EXTENDS TO MORE TRUCKS THAN MINE, AND WARRANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION. IT APPEARS BASED ON MY DEALINGS WITH MANUFACTURER AND DEALERS THAT THEY ARE NOT ONLY UNABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM, I THINK THEY ARE UNAWARE THAT A PROBLEM EVEN EXISTS. MY CONCERN ON THIS ISSUE IS SAFETY RELATED, HAVING A FEAR OF A CATASTROPHIC TIRE FAILURE, DUE TO HEAT AND TIRE PRESSURE BUILD UP, AS WELL AS FEATHERING AS INDICATION OF A SUSPENSION PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE CAUSING ABNORMAL FORCES BEING APPLIED TO RIGHT FRONT TIRE. I HAVE ALL ALIGNMENT RECORDS AND DEALER SERVICE ORDERS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR REVIEW. I HAVE CONTACTED YOU IN COMPLIANCE WITH MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS FOUND IN LEMON LAW AND OWNERS BOOKLETS PROVIDED BY MANUFACTURER.
MY 2014 DODGE EXPRESS TRUCK HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS ARE VERY BAD FOR DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE NORTH WEST WASHINGTON STATE AND ARE WORTHLESS IN THE RAIN; CAN'T SEE HEADLIGHTS ON THE ROAD SURFACE. PLEASE FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE I COMMUTE ZIP CODE 98031 TO 98065 ON HWY 18; IT'S OVER A 1300 FOOT HIGH MOUNTAIN PASS. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE USELESS.
