Eps locked out..unable to drive on way to my brothers funeral..Sept 27 2024
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 10 MPH, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that a module inside the ABS system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 129,500.
The electric power steering quit, lucky I was in driveway. There is a recall for 2013 - 2019 for this problem VB9/NHTSA 19E-077. Took my truck in and the dealer said no recall on my truck. I have the problem this should be fixed under the recall!
Hello, I went and got my truck service at a car dealership for rear air bag shock not working properly (4times) ; futhermore, my power steering went out while driving...not knowing the steering is electronic
Abs light, park brake light and traction control warninglights on dash. Non are working vehicle slides on wet pavement. Took to repair shop was informed this is a common problem with this year and model. No parts are available for a fix. Was told by a Ram dealership they have at least 5 vehicles waiting on parts and could be up to a year before any are available. Vehicle is not able to be operated safely. Ram should be held responsible for negligence. 1 year later still waiting on parts
The Rack and Pinion module has gone out. The steering on the vehicle completely stopped working while driving the vehicle on the interstate.
Gas tank strap fell off, tank was hanging, gouged my drive shaft. Frame where strap sit in is all rusted out. Strap will not stay up. Need to bring attention to this as it could if been a very hazardous condition, as a firefighter this should be under warranty.
Gas tank strap bracket. Gas tank strap bracket rusted off the frame and tank was hanging off. Went to closest shop where he identified the problem and fixed it ($1431.00). This is a know problem and a letter stating that the warranty period for the “tank strap mounting” was extended. We sent the bill to FCA US LLC customer Center and they refused to cover the cost.
The electronic power steering (EPS) on my truck failed suddenly. Luckily, I was just in my driveway, but this could have led to a serious safety issue if I had been on the road at speed or pulling a trailer. After researching this I see that there have been some recalls regarding this issue for trucks produced in other years, but nothing for the 2014. It is a costly and potentially deadly issue that needs to be examined.
Electronic power steering has gone out twice. The first time it went as I was leaving a fast food drive through. Warning light came on as it happened. No one except my mechanic has inspected the vehicle but I will have to repair it out of po let until the investigation is complete. I almost had to drive over the curb since steering it was nearly impossible. It has since gone out again. Thankfully in my driveway. I know there is an investigation into this and I would like to be added to the list of complaints and hopefully this ends up being a recall.
ABS control module failed, is widespread problem in this generation vehicle and there is no available part for repair so my truck has no functioning ABS, this also disabled traction control creating an unsafe vehicle to drive. I was told by the dealership that I drove to since i couldn't get an answer by phone that they have not had the part for 2 yrs and expect to not have any supply anytime soon. I sent a msg to Stellantis that went unanswered and tried 3 seperate dealerships by phone but could not even get them to answer the phone.
On 9/6/24 at approx 12 noon, I was driving my 2014 Ram truck at 50 mph and had a total loss of steering control. A "service power steering" warning showed up on the dash, and I pulled off the road into my driveway. It appears that there is a recall for certain Rams: "Equipment Safety Recall VB9 -- Electric Power Steering Gear" but the serial number on my power steering rack is not listed. The number on my power steering rack is "TIC2123C4007". The truck will be taken to a mechanic on Monday 9/9/24 for inspection. The truck may be inspected upon request. I was driving straight when the power steering failed. If I had been in a curve, there is no way I could have controlled the vehicle. There was no indication of a problem before the total loss of power steering.

have been searching for valid part for repair. Dealers state part discontinued. Today, incident where I braked heavily, almost lost control of my vehicle. Swerved and prevented accident. Safety issue and dangerous situation that may not be avoided next time. Sadly, feel dealer or manufacturer must be held responsible for lack of part or failure to provide updated part for purchase.

Power steering quit working while I was driving without warning. I have replaced the battery and tried numerous solutions and they have not resulted in fixing the power steering. Outside of replacing the entire rack, I have run out of options. My fear is that if I had been with my children, driving on a winding road, or otherwise, this error could have cost me thousands of dollars or totaled the vehicle and/or caused innumerable cost of damage to property or other vehicles and people. Without a resolution, the vehicle is rendered inoperable. According to the Mooar website [XXX] ) cost to replace has been estimated to be between $3105.00-$3870.00 before adding the service fees. This is a vehicle that our family of five needs. It is also something that is too costly to repair and we cannot trade it in or sell it for any real value. This issue is a safety concern that should be addressed of the highest concern. Other 2014 Ram 1500’s have been recalled due to concerns regarding the power steering; however, our vehicle was not given a recall. [XXX] ). I feel that this defect is extremely dangerous. Without warning, the power steering will intermittently stop working. Trying the truck off and waiting sometimes solves the issue but that isn’t always the case and expecting customers to drive a vehicle that has a defect that is a hazard, is irresponsible and has already cost our family money that we have needed for other expenses. Thank you for allowing me to contact you and I look forward to hearing from you with a solution to this problem. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The ABS module has failed. The Dealer gave the part number 68196033AA as being defective and there was a two year backlog on this part.

Power steering failure while driving. Almost died.
The electronic power steering failed at random and almost caused me to wreck. I had to pay to tow my car home and now am looking at a $3000 repair on something that’s a known problem with these systems
I filled my ram with gas and a gas tank strap fell through the frame. The frame around the strap failed while the rest of the frame looks to be in good condition.
My son was driving the truck when out of no where the power steering failed and he had to muscle the truck to the side of the road. After doing some research this is a common issue amongst other rams and so I contacted multiple dealerships within the area. Unfortunately they all said the same issue that happens on 2015+ trucks with the same steering system won’t apply to my truck.

When I start the vehicle the power steering light comes on and stays on until the vehicle warms up. Once the vehicle is warm, the light goes off. Usually this light stays on for approximately 10 minutes. I can’t begin driving until the light goes off. It has not ever come on while driving
My 2014 Ram 1500 Sport, Crew Cab, 2x4, 5.7 Hemi engine, was showing on and off ABS, Traction Control, and Trailer Maintenance warning lights on the dash around the Aug. 5, 2024. It got to the point over the last few weeks that the warning lights now stay on. I had Napa auto service run a diagnostic check and it showed Code: C220-049 ABS Control Module Internal Electrical Failure. I contacted local and online Mopar Dealers and Parts department for a new ABS Control Module. I was told Mopar doesn't have a replacement part in stock. Some sites say that Mopar Part# 68228991AD is discontinued. One online Mopar Part Suppler said, that the Part has been on back order for a very long time with no real availability date. Another website, reported that the ABS Control Module failure has been an issues for over 2 years. Mopar has yet to figure out a functioning replacement or fix for the ABS Control Module failures. I am concerned as this part has disabled the ABS system, stability control, and the trailer towing electrical brake controller. I can not tow my travel trailer safely. I'm very cautious driving due to the lack of anti lock brakes and the stability control not working. This is a safety concern, and I would think Mopar would have fixed the issues and the supply system shortage for ABS Control Module.

The contact and her son sustained a traumatic injury, but medical attention was not provided. The dog sustained unknown injuries and was taken to the veterinarian for medical attention. A police report was not filed. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Before the failure, the vehicle had been taken to the same dealer for NHTSA Campaign Number 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Unknown, the air bags in the suspension popped during driving
a grinding sound occurs while turning the vehicle. after checking there appears to be a power steering recall for the same power steering motor - just for other years but not for the 2014 model. apparently once the unit fails the vehicle will be steerable but it will be more difficult. if this is a common problem, as it appears to be, a recall would be welcome.
While traveling on a highway at a speed of around 55 MPH, I experienced an abrupt and complete failure of the electronic power steering system in my 2014 Ram 1500. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn, and I lost the usual responsiveness and control I have come to expect from my vehicle. This sudden loss of steering assistance occurred without any prior warning signs, such as unusual noises, dashboard alerts, or steering resistance. It was a frightening experience that compromised my safety and the safety of others on the road. The failure of the EPS system at such a high speed created an urgent safety hazard. The difficulty in steering made it challenging to maintain lane control and respond effectively to road conditions. This not only increased the risk of a collision but also made the vehicle highly unstable and difficult to maneuver. Had there been a sudden need to change lanes or avoid an obstacle, the consequences could have been dire. In addition to the immediate safety concerns, the situation has been further aggravated by the unavailability of repair parts. After the incident, I promptly contacted several authorized dealerships and repair centers to address the EPS issue. I was informed that the necessary parts for the repair are currently unavailable on a national level. This unavailability of parts has left my vehicle inoperable and has resulted in significant inconvenience and frustration. The inability to procure repair parts not only delays the resolution of this critical issue but also raises questions about the reliability and longevity of the EPS system in this model. It is concerning that a critical component of the steering system, essential for safe vehicle operation, is not readily accessible for repair or replacement.
The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) module in my 2014 RAM 1500 fails consistently (each time) when the vehicle is started. To date, the EPS module begins working within 10 to 20 minutes of vehicle start-up but does not provide any confidence in it's continued operation. The vehicle has reeently been in for replacement of the EPS module, including the rack and pinion system. When the EPS module is not working, there is no power steering assist, and driving the vehicle puts the driver, other occupants and surrounding vehicles/pedestrians in danger, especially were it to fail unexpectedly during operation. The problem has been confirmed to require replacement of the EPS module at Earnhardt CDJR in Gilbert, Arizona in October 2024. It was confirmed again by an independent service center on January 15, 2025 and has recently been in for repair/replacement. While this particular vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, there has been a recall of the EPS module for 2013-2019 RAM 1500s, so the problem has been acknowledged by the manufacturer. No warning lamps or messages appeared prior to the failure. Following the initial failure, each time the vehicle is started the "Service Power Steering" warning lamp and message appears. The warning lamp and message turn off when the EPS module begins working.
Tone Wheel failure. Listed as a remedy for recall 66a but dealer said my VIN doesn’t qualify for wheel replacement even though I qualify for 66a. My vehicle received the same faulty tone wheel that other got recalled. Please update 73a to include my batch of VIN numbers.
