The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Uconnect 8.4 which controls a number of functions in the vehicle has a screen delamination problem which is causing functions to be selected turned on or off at random, including; radio stations changing, navigation points altered, keyless entry to be turned off/changed, auto headlight settings to be changed, heated seats and steering wheel turned on in July, windshield wiper settings to be changed. When traveling on the highway at posted speeds this is extremely distracting and dangerous because the focus of the driver is on the screen. What is most annoying is that the system cannot be turned off!!! I can't begin to imagine what might happen in an electric vehicle that has even more functions controlled via an input screen. Service technician at RAM looked at the vehicle and immediately identified the problem as screen delamination implying this was not a rare occurrence. RAM has informed me that the repair (replace the unit with a remanufactured one) will be approximately $2,500. Many people will simply not have this dangerous situation corrected. Every time I encounter a Chrysler vehicle I am concerned the driver may be distracted with a similar problem in their car and endangering other drivers. The internet is full of people experiencing the delamination problem in the Uconnect 8.4 system across vehicles in the Chrysler/Stellantis line up.
Radio Delamination, safety issue, loss of control features, backup camera turns on, making unwanted phone calls
My uconnect infotainment unit is experiencing “ghost touching” . As I am driving at first the radio stations would change by themselves. They would go from xm to fm and etc. then my clock wouldn’t allow me to set the time. Now recently, as I’m driving, the unit is dialing numbers, reading text messages. It’s calling sos. The. My back up camera is on as I’m driving forward. Air conditioner going from high to low. I brought it into dodge and they told me it needs a new unit. I called ram and they said to bring it in to dodge and leave it there. They won’t let me. Ram told me to get a loaner but the dealership says they don’t have any. Ram also told me to get a rental but I don’t want to lay out $550-700 for a rental when I have no idea how long it will take for the part to come in. My truck is completely unable to be driven. I have had it parked with now car since August 1 when I came back from diagnostic . I am concerned that they will putting the same exact unit in there and it will happen again. I am clearly out of warranty. So as of right now I have no car, I have no idea when the part will be in and I do not the same exact unit put in the truck. It’s obviously a know issue but putting back the same unit is not going to fix the problem. They need to upgrade the entire unit like they put in the 2020s.
Battery drained. Code p1df3 ecu not transmitting. No issues leading to failure. Left stranded.
More than 1 year after a safety recall, there is still no remedy available. This is unacceptable for a safety issue. Now there is a new recall for the same issue that was previously recalled. Something seems fishy. Is my truck safe to drive? Buy it back if it can't be fixed. Seems reasonable to me.
My truck is equipped with the UConnect 4C/4C Navigation system which is malfunctioning. This is a problem that other car owners are having as well. This system is having "ghost touch" issues. The radio will scroll through the channels, change automatically to satellite radio. This is not a safety concern, however when the heat/defrost goes out, changes over to a/c then this can be a concern, which is what my system will do. It will also black completely out. There are no warning lights, battery in the truck has been replaced, did not fix the problem. A factory reset has been done, did not fix the problem. I contacted UConnect, they advised me to take to the dealer for it to be diagnosed. I called the dealer; they want $175.00 per hour to diagnose. Neither are taking responsibility for this problem, and it is my problem that this product is defective. I will not accept that. This is a safety concern due to the fact that this component controls so many features.
In June of 2023, I was driving home and the vehicle became unresponsive, but still powered on. I was able to steer it partially to the side of the road. The gas pedal was unresponsive, all electrical was unresponsive and it also would not turn off. I called my husband, when he arrived about 20 minutes later we were finally able to turn off the truck, but electrical was still unresponsive so the windows would not roll up. I had just gotten off the freeway, about a mile, and was lucky to be in a residential area or I would have been unable to drive on the freeway. This is a major safely issue and I also had my 9 year old daughter in the truck with me. No warning messages or any symptoms prior to the problem/failure. We called and had it towed to our local trusted mechanic, Gray's Tire and Auto. It took about a month for Gray's to figure out the problem. They were also in conversations with the local RAM Dealer who did not know how to fix the problem. It ended up being recall [XXX] that was the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
1)Cabin pressure vents and third brake light leaked water into cab 2)Mold and mildew grew and spread through the entire interior of the vehicle. 3/4)Problem has been confirmed by dealer using a third party vendor- LeakPro 5)No. I didn't notice this until the mold and mildew grew and covered everything. Foul odor is still present along with mold and mildew under rear seat.
While accelerating onto the freeway my truck lost power and displayed a check engine light. Upon having the code read it was P-0336 which is for a crankcase speed sensor. I was nearly rear ended by a tractor trailer due to the loss of power. Stellantis was unable to help with answers as far as the recall information regarding recall 66A which is to be an extension of recall 20V-475.

Back March 2023 making a stop traffic the truck engine started stalling and lost power then suddenly accelerated. The same exact thing happens on 6/5/23. This vehicle has a recall for fuel starvation but nothing isn’t fixed - no remedy is offered- I don understand why a safety recall is issued my life is in danger along with any occupant passengers . If vehicle has a safety recall is for a reason enforce a remedy.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel inadvertently pulled to the left and then the right, causing the contact to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. Upon slowing down, the contact stated that the steering wheel was tight and maneuvering the vehicle was extremely difficult. The EPS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the electric power steering however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 115,000.
When driving, the vehicle jerked and stopped working, could not drive and would not respond. I had to coast to the curb as best as possible. Vehicle was towed to preferred independent service center. I had just gotten off the freeway and if this had happened about 2 minutes prior we could have been stopped completely on the freeway. Major safety risk to me and my family. The problem, recall 66A, is currently being repaired, and has been confirmed, by our independent service center. No warnings prior to failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the navigation system was dialing numbers independently. Backup camera blanks out to blue screen during operation. Does it randomly, has done it multiple times, seems to have a mind of its own.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart, and the contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance since the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 45,381. The contact stated Stellantis has changed its position on replacing the part in the original W58 recall, revised to reprogramming the PCM on the revised W58 and now 66A says there is no current solution. The contact wants to be reimbursed for repairs from the recall.
Electric Power Steering failure with no cause. Power steering failed while driving on the highway.
I bought this vehicle around 2 years ago from a local dealer. A week or so after purchase, I heard a small rattling sound at start up and a continuous ticking sound whle running. My sales rep said "that is normal, mine does it too and its nothing to worry about." 5 days ago, the sound at start was way louder than after purchase and lasted a bit longer. My extensive research, including talking to a Dodge service tech, it is broken bolts in the manifold due to excessive heat and warping of the manifold. Apparently this issue has been going on for years and has affected many Dodge/Ram owners. My vehicle is 3 months past its 5 year warranty and now I am left holding the bag to repair something that should be covered under a recall. This "ticking" and "rattling" sound is actually an exhaust leak and is potentially deathly dangerous to anyone occupying a vehicle (while its running) with this issue. Current possible cost for replacement of parts would be around $750 per side. Plus, with the install of all new parts, this even would occur again, at some point, resulting in getting it repaired again, and again, and again. I think, as do many others, that the Mopar company shouldbe liable for these repairs with a permanent fix so it doesnt continue happening.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while shifted in reverse, the rearview camera displayed a blue or distorted screen. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
In the last 12 months my engine began to have a ticking sound which started out as a slight ticking to now a loud ticking sound. I am afraid that it may lose power or fail all together. I could be driving in heavy traffic or cause a chain effect of crashes. This vehicle is my primary "good" vehicle that I drive. I will be taking my truck to the dealer very soon for inspection.
I was hit on the drivers the pillar immediately hit my head shoulder arm and ribs hard and side curtain airbags never deployed and the other vehicle all theirs deployed
The infotainment system randomly starts changing stations rapidly. After resetting the system by disconnecting the battery, it now has the "would you like to change your clock settings" dialogue box pop up and no matter what you do, it pops right back up and you cannot control anything. I believe this is dangerous as it is distracting, and more importantly, there are many systems in this vehicle controlled by the touch screen. The HVAC control buttons are limited and when the touch screen is acting up, you only have limited choices which can be distracting in cool and damp weather when you need to keep you windows clear.
VEHICLE HAS 47000 MILES DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS FOR ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL, AND PRIMARY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ARE ALL ILLUMINATED. ABS NOT FUNCTIONING NOR IS TRACTION CONTROL. RESEARCH INDICATES THEY SHARE THE SAME CIRCUT. RESEARCH ALSO SHOWS NHTSA HAS OPEN INVESTIGATION INTO RAM 2500 & 3500 PICKUPS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWS CLAIMS THAT DEALERSHIPS ARE REPLACING THE FAILED PARTS WITH IDENTICAL, UNIMPROOVED PARTS THAT ARE ALSO FAILING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND ALSO A MAJOR EXPENSE. VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. SYSTEM FAILED IN A CONGESTED TRAFFIC SITUATION THAT NEARLY RESULTED IN REAREND COLLISION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE DEALER OR ANYONE ELSE. WARNING LIGHTS THAT ARE ON MOST LIKELY CAME ON DURING THE FIRST "HARD STOP" AS RESULT OF BRAKING ACTIONS OF VEHICLES IN FRONT.
when fueling the pump handle gets stuck in the tank and also cuts the pump handle off several times during the fueling process. This problem has not been checked out. The exhaust manifolds are tapping. This will not pass our state inspection. This was found after my state inspection by an independent service center. No warning lights, but can smell a bit of exhaust fumes when starting. The uconnect system is delaminating causing the system to malfunction. While driving the screen changes, changes radio stations, volume, makes phone calls including 911, turns heated seats and heated steering on, it adjusts the temperature from hot to cold, cold to hot and the degree setting. You can not shut the uconnect system off once it starts. Spoke to the Ram dealership and they said this is a common problem and very pricey to fix. Saftey issue being 1. dialing 911 while driving. 2. sudden volume adjustments causing distractions,
The problem is with the whole DEF System in the truck. for the last 6 months I can't go a week or less without getting some kind of code. Every time it effects the electronic throttle control and the truck goes into limp mode, I can be going 70 mph and it drops down to 30-40 mph no matter where I am at. I have almost been rear ended several times. I fix that code and a week later another code pops up and we do it all over again. I think I may have gone 2 weeks without a problem in the last 6 months. This time it is the DPF and DEF system, and here we go back into limp mode. I have had it to the dealer last week for issues which they couldn't figure out but thought that reprogramming would fix. So I leave to go out of state to work and here we go again less than 100 miles from home. Exhaust filter is full with no regen for over 400 miles. Now I'm stuck out of state with this problem. I think this really needs to be addressed because after all of my research this seems to be a normal problem.
Tailgate on truck will randomly open, including while driving. This can cause debris in the bed to become unsecure and fall out of the back. I have had this happen several times in the past. Most recently it fell while I had my trailer on cause damage to the tailgate which will now need replacing.
I was on a 6 land highway, fast lane, when my dodge truck just stopped. I was almost hit and cause several accidents in trying to get to the shoulder of the road. I called a tow truck and again the driver and myself almost caused accidents in trying to get the truck loaded on the truck. I took it to a near by repair shot. They diagnosed the problem quickly. I then waited 6 weeks, yes 6 weeks for the crank position sensor to come in. That was back in April. Ever since then we have been trying to load the correct software because it still is not running right. This is dangerous. I also have an outstanding recall on this truck for the high pressure fuel pump. So that can go at anytime. What has happened to Dodge, I wish I never bought this truck.
I have filed previously regarding this 23v-411; my trucks crank position sensor broke on a highway, almost accident. Tower in to a repair shop. Finally got replacement sensor. Spent 6 weeks trying to download correct data. It runs ok but still not 100%. I submitted the billing to dodge - Chrysler for reimbursement they denied it. Saying repair has not been determined yet. So I’m driving my truck not a rental and out of $1168. What a racquet.
I filed previously. The truck just lost power, I was on highway fastin fast lane. Lost power had to cross 3 lanes of high speed traffic. Dangerous. The tone wheel broke. I had to get towed to repair shop 3/8/23, mileage 38171. No parts available till 4/21/23. No rental car? Stranded. NHTSA issued recall. I tried several times to get reimbursed for repairs $1,168.90. I just get the run around. It still needs software update. Then there is an outstanding recall X46, no repair options. Nothing available. I don’t trust Dodge.
Jun 09,2022 Manufacturer Recall NumberZ46 NHTSA Recall Number22V-406 I have experienced hard starting and a CEL that referred to High Pressure Fuel Rail. I have contacted Stellantis and made them aware as well as bringing the vehicle to the dealership on [XXX]. The recall was released back in 6/2022. How can there still not be a corrective course of action for such a serious safety and reliability problem. Please help me to understand. There is now a second recall that does not have a resolution. NHTSA needs to enforce a timeline or litigate a resolution to this matter. Please feel free to call or email me should you have any additional questions, [XXX] or [XXX] . Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. Driving on a busy highway, without any advance warning, all dash lights on screen turned on at once and truck completely shut down. We were unable to operate the truck or even put in neutral to move off the road. We had our children in the truck with us and it was a miracle we weren’t in an accident. We shut down the highway for hours waiting for a tow truck. We were charged $930 to tow to the nearest dealership. We paid out of pocket and have not been reimbursed. There have been multiple recalls on this vehicle. There are currently two open recalls one has been open since June 2022 with still no remedy available. I don’t feel safe driving my children in this vehicle. There needs to be a remedy soon before something happens. I don’t want to wait any longer given a close call we’ve already had with our children present.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed. The fuel system assembly was replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). Additionally, the contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would consider covering half of the repair cost. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at undisclosed speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer; however, the cause of the failure was unidentified. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included, and the parts for the repair was not available. Another local dealer, Rainbow Chrysler Dodge Jeep (301 River Highland Blvd, Covington, LA 70433) was contacted about the repair; however, parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
2018 Ram 1500 8.5 inch U-Connect center screen that shows the back-up camera video is delaminating. This causes the back-up camera to become non-functional when the delamination progresses to the point of rendering the screen unusable.
I received a bubble in my Uconnect infotainment system. After researching this appears to be a major problem. I was advised by my service dealership, Lithia Ram in Santa Rosa, that the bubble will spread across the screen and eventually uncontrollably turn the radio up and down as well as the heater and A/C. This is completely unsafe as it will distract the driver constantly and make matters unsafe to drive. This appears to be a major flaw with these infotainment systems.
2018 DODGE RAM 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO PARTS BEING UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM SAFETY RECALL.
Chrysler's 3.0L diesel engine have a high-pressure fuel pump with an open recall on them. A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system and cause potential fuel starvation. In January of 2023, I attempted to remedy the situation with a RAM dealership in Aptos, California. The attached email chain shows that for 6 months, I was unable to receive parts for my 3.0L diesel engine. After a change in job opportunities, I ended up in Palmdale late November 2023, where I continued to pursue remediation at the RAM of the West Dealership in Lancaster. While I do not have a email thread on this, if you visit their store on 43226 10th St W, Lancaster, CA 93534, you find that they have an open ticket for this same recall that has been open since February 2024. I have had an open recall for 2 years now, which has prevented me from receiving a new registration sticker. My current RAM 1500, still has a sticker from 2022 despite me paying for all of my registration requirements. This has led to 3 tickets and a threat from law enforcement that they can take my truck. This has gone on long enough and I am demanded a solution.
When the emergency brake is set or engage and the dis engage the brake warning light stay on. when a full stop is the it chime and stay solid red at the dash board. this a defective manufacturer issue. +/-80,000 miles.
I was driving my Ram 1500 along the road to my house when it slammed to a halt. Luckily I was not going to fast and I was able to push it into my driveway. The problem was that the magnetic strip on the tone wheel failed and it shut the engine off. At the time of failure, the part was not under recall so I had to pay for the parts and labor myself. A couple weeks ago I received a letter from Chrysler (FCA) that there is now an open recall for the tone wheel, (Recall 66A), but there are no parts yet available to fix it. However, it also says on the letter that if the part has already failed and if I have already paid to have it fixed that I am eligible for a reimbursement of expenses. I filled out the online form for reimbursement, however I was contacted by FCA and they stated that they will not be processing any reimbursements for Recall 66A at this time. I have attached my repair order and the recall notice from FCA with the instructions to apply for a reimbursement.
The top third of the U Connect 8.4 screen is delaminating causing distracting information to appear on screen. Keeps asking if I want to adjust the clock. Also makes random radio station changes and picks random GPS points while driving.
California has a rubber boot on their gas pumps to capture gas emissions - this forces a full insertion of the nozzle or the gas pump into the Dodge ram fuel filler neck when pumping gas the gas nozzle became lodged into the filler neck - I was unable to remove the gas pump from the filler neck - had to use screw driver to remove which resulted in the plastic housing of the filler neck to break This is dangerous and now could allow gas overflow from the broken housing -

Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure. If this had happened while driving there would have been no way to control truck. The dash read "Power Steering Unavailable Service Required". Dealer tested truck and said EPS unit would need replaced at a cost of $2,345 for just the part and would be at least 45 before they could get the part. This truck only has 55k miles on it.
