Exhaust manifold leak
OEM UConnect 8.5" screen delamination resulting in constant screen flashing due to "ghost touches" causing distractions to driver. Issue causes the inability to turn screen off when flashing and changing screens on its own which can be hazardous any time, especially at night; when phone is connected to vehicle bluetooth system, the UConnect screen makes random calls which also distracts driver due to having to end a call on the actual phone, otherwise the person called at random is constantly put on hold and resumed to the point it is impossible to speak (hands-free laws in my city create the necessity to be able to speak via bluetooth) and, in the event an emergency call to 911 has to be made while driving, it does not appear the screen malfunction will allow it; climate randomly switches from heat to cool and continuously adjusts fan speed; equalizer on audio system controls itself and prevents driver from altering; radio station changes constantly and back and forth between AM and FM; inability to change clock if necessary; inability to change screen settings whatsoever. This vehicle may be inspected at any time. Dodge dealership maintenance confirmed it is a known issue and recommends the system be replaces (at my expense), even though this exact issue can be found in online forums, etc. dating back to 2017. There were no warnings, only what looked to be a crack in the screen which was later found to be an air bubble under the lamination that continues to spread. My vehicle is very rarely left parked while uncovered and has only been used per the owner's manual. This issue was also not disclosed when the vehicle was bought. My screen in particular did not start having issues until the end of 2022, at approx. 46,000 miles. The manufacturer's warranty has lapsed and an extended warranty was not purchased. However, had I known this could be an issue the manufacturer would not take responsibility for, I would have purchased an extended warranty.
Cruise control fails to engage/Disengage
This vehicle experienced a Diesel EGR Cooler failure, for which there is an open recall by FCA under VB1/NHTSA 19V-757. Repairs were completed at the shop where it had been taken for diagnostics, and subsequently I submitted a reimbursement request to FCA following all guidelines and submitting all documents requested. However, FCA is refusing to honor the recall reimbursement request. They state their reasons below: 1) Vehicle is out of warranty. (Warranty status should have no bearing on a recall repair) 2) Parts replaced are not covered under the recall. (Parts replaced were specifically covered under recall VB1) 3) Repairs were not completed at a dealership. (The reimbursement process was created specifically for repairs completed at other repair centers) The above reasons stated by FCA are not valid, but FCA continues to deny reimbursement. FCA should honor their recall repair commitment and process. This incident leads me to believe FCA is actively engaged in falsely denying reimbursements to customers and their compliance with NHTSA recall oversight should be investigated.
Recall on high pressure fuel pump is causing truck to keep struggling during driving , and sudden stop at street few times
I was in an accident, I hit a bale of hay doing 65 mph that a local farmer lost off the back of his feed truck. My air bags DID NOT deploy. I never had any warning lights on my dash warning me to service air bags. Thankfully I wasn’t severely injured and walked away with no more then a sore and bruised body and shaken up nerves.
The 8.4" UConnect Screen has a bubble along the whole top of the screen due to delamination. This causes the stations to randomly jump from station to station and if you make a phone call with the connected phone, after you hang up, it will start calling random people. You can disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for a few minutes, but it starts back within a day. Upon Google search, there are multiple issues with this same problem with this screen along all lines of Dodge and Chrysler products.
I was traveling 48 miles per hour when another vehicle pulled in front of me. I was able to apply the brakes and collision was at 18 miles per hour. The police estimate other vehicle traveling 16 miles per hour. Air bags deployed in other vehicle not in my truck causing passenger to sustain head injury both myself and wife sustained injuries to upper torsos
Hello. We have a RAM 1500 serial # 1C6RR7MT1JS204636 , the UConnect radio screen is doing some delamination about 1/3 of the screen from top. At 1st no big deal but since about 2 weeks it changes radio station by itself and for the past 3 days it keeps calling people non stop , I almost rear ended someone today trying to stop the calls . I know my truck is not under warranty anymore but I feel there's a big safety issue for me and my wife right now. This radio is a tool for us ( GPS is the most important feature on it ) . We got very scared my wife and I today. Don't know if I'm the only one having this problem but we'll really appreciate if FCA can take care of us.
I'm trying to have my daytime running lights enabled for my vehicle, which is a simple request that is done by sending a code to my vehicle. This is a safety feature that can be quickly enabled and I'm having trouble finding a dealership that will enable this, guarantee the work, and get me safely back on the road without charging me $500 for a few minutes of work.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The system failed to go through regeneration. The contact stated that the EGR cooler and radiator were leaking. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the service electronic control message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a crack in the EGR cooler, and that the cooler was leaking. The contact stated that the exhaust was stuck and clogged. Additionally, the fuel filter was clogged. The turbo boost sensor also had malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The active grill shutters and related wiring components are defective. The check engine light came on around 52000 and issued a code for U11E9- “replace active grill shutter.” I replaced it with a brand new part and the CEL remains on. Further investigation into similar instances in online forums suggest problems with the design of the wiring harness and pigtail that connects to the PCM. Many other consumers have reported this problem and were unable to resolve using the associated code, requiring further, expensive electrical repairs.
Have read other complaints of similar problems. The problem started with our 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 several weeks ago with the navigation system changing screens to points of interest, then yesterday everything messed up. Upon starting the truck the touch screen seems to work fine for about five minutes, then it starts jumping around from one screen to another. It randomly tries to route a destination, the radio changes stations, tries to call phone numbers, and the climate controls jump all over the place. No heat, no air, and most alarming is that the defroster does not work. The problem persists while sitting still and driving. There may be other problems, but the touch screen does not respond. All this is very distracting and dangerous.
The contact owns a 2018 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 80 MPH, she heard an abnormal clicking sound and upon attempting to decrease in speed by depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to slow down. The steering wheel then failed to function and control of the vehicle was lost. As a result, the vehicle careened off the road and into a barrier wall. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the actuator had broken in half. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Ram 1500 interiors are damaged and destroyed when water intrudes into the cabs, a problem Fiat Chrysler allegedly knows about. The water leaks allegedly cause electronics to short-circuit which damages the rear airbags and propellant. And the water leaks cause mold and mildew which sickens occupants and makes the Ram 1500 trucks health hazards. In addition to the rear airbags, the Ram 1500 water leaks can allegedly cause problems with the "push-to-start ignition system, locks, windows, headlights, taillights, interior lights, windshield wipers, climate control, infotainment system and navigation, and back up camera." Ram 1500 drivers should allegedly expect failures of the headlights and tail lights, issues with starting the trucks, turn signal and brake light failures, faulty backup cameras and infotainment system problems. The Ram 1500 water leak lawsuit further claims drivers can lose the windshield wipers and the ability to lock or unlock the trucks. Fiat Chrysler has allegedly known about the Ram 1500 water leak problem since 2016 but actively concealed the alleged defects. TSBs - TSB S2023000024, TSB 23-016-21 titled, “Water Leaks At Sliding Backlite.
At 36,000 miles the fuel tank no longer would accept fuel. Dealer tried to manipulate fuel nozzle, but still didn't fix issue. I was stranded at gas stations trying to slow feed gas into the tank. I had to dribble in enough gas to make it to the dealer. Ultimate solution was to replace tank (outside of warranty). This was unsafe as I could have been stranded somewhere.
The touch screen goes on and off all by itself changing the stations on its own to changing the heat in the car.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the U-Connect Command Center, touchscreen navigation, and settings were inoperable. The contact stated that the stereo face plate was delaminated. The contact stated that the screen experienced random phantom touches. The stereo was randomly tuning up loudly and failed to turn off. The vehicle was undrivable. The driver had to restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed and determined that the screen needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but informed the contact about disconnecting a fuse. The manufacturer was contacted and provided the contact with a case number, but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. The VIN was not available.
The touchscreen for the UConnect and all on board systems (ac/heat, audio controls, back up camera, clock, phone and device interface, etc.) is delaminating. This began at about 53,000 miles and has worsened (currently at about 56,000) to the point that it creates phantom button pushes. This presents a safety hazard as it can change radio and volume settings, cause repetitive, unpredictable menus to populate(clock settings), make unintended phone calls, and change other settings that present a distraction to the driver. Once the problem begins, it cannot be stopped without powering the vehicle off and the monitor cannot be powered off as the phantom commands rewake the screen. This is a well known, well documented problem that is due to a design and manufacture defect that is expensive to replace. Please issue a recall!
The UConnect is malfunctioning, and my vehicle is available for inspect upon request. However I have many videos of the issue. It is exhibiting a “phantom touch” where it will click on buttons and change settings. My life was in danger when it would turn my windshield defrost on and off/change the temperature causing the windshield to fog up. It completely binds me while driving and I have to attempt to pull over and manually wipe the windshield. It is also constantly pressing the SOS button and calling 911, and I have to explain to the dispatcher that it is not an emergency/my truck is calling them (it’s a federal crime to call 911 repeatedly without an emergency). It has been confirmed by public forums and by another known customer. I am having it confirmed by the dealership today. The item has been inspected by those in the vehicle and getting inspected by the dealer. There is no lights or error code associated with the issue.
The engine seized, lost power and braking control while traveling on the freeway at approximately 70 mph during morning rush hour traffic. I had to merge into the ditch and ride it to a stop to avoid collisions on a busy freeway. Immediately called a tow truck to tow the vehicle to the dodge dealership closest to me to assess the problem. During the assessment the mechanic noted a seized motor due to the timing chain skiping and adjusting when the valve opens and closes, thus sending a valve through a piston and destoying the engine. Dodge has known about this issue with the 3.0 ecodiesel and all that they suggest is to sell it and buy a different truck. There are plenty of testimonials found if searched for, some that did not have as safe of an ending as i. The only warning light that was displayed was the 'check engine' light for the recall of the high pressure fuel pump. Thus truck has been scheduled for moths to have the recall replaced. The part is not available, I was ensured it was safe to drive until the part was available. I even called crystler ram to request the part, and they stated this part is not available at the time.
Exhaust Manifold Leak. Clicking noise when engine is started.
U connect radio system / screen delaminating/ radio makes phone calls to 911 and other numbers on its own. Controls a/c and heat turns those off and on without anyone touching the controls very annoying, distraction to driver also causes backup camera not to work.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact then stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. Additionally, the contact stated that on multiple occasions while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The contact stated that a message appeared indicating an electronic fuel pressure failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the EGR cooler, EGR valve, and exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover half of the cost, but the contact declined. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
Unable to add fuel from any service station pump without the pump stopping many times. Unable to achieve a full tank of fuel. This is a known issue with Ram trucks and there are many complaints about this issue residing on the internet. This is a very unsafe situation, and the manufacture should correct this issue.
When I start and operate the vehicle, the radio display prompts me with a question, "Do you want to adjust the clock? YES NO". Then it disappears. Then it reappears. I cannot select an option, and I cannot reset the radio to solve the problem (instructions from RAM). It is a serious driving distraction - It happens whether the vehicle is parked or moving. When I press the button to turn off the display to escape the distraction nothing happens. When I research this issue online I see how common the problem is. RAM directs owners to replace the entire radio at a cost of thousands of dollars but the radios are back-ordered due to the number of radios affected.
The radio/camera screen is delaminating causing a bubble on the top of the screen. The bubble is causing the touch screen to randomly activate to different systems without being touched. If the rear view camara is activated when backing up it turns off and on causing a dangerous situation. The screen also constantly switches to different systems while operating the vehicle causing a major distraction.
There is a common well known problem with the Ram trucks that have the Hemi Engine. The passenger side cast iron exhaust manifold will warp and break the steel bolts off the aluminum head. This creates a hazardous exhaust leak where fumes are entering the cab. Also in states that require a state safety inspection it will fail because of the leak. It is a manufacturer safety defect and should be repaired by the manufacturer and not have the customer foot the bill for a bad design.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine, throttle control, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted but went into Limp Mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owned a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle crashed head-on with a Ford Focus. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver sustained injuries to his lower back, neck, and head, and medical attention was provided. The passenger seat occupant sustained injuries to her chest, lower back, and head. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot and then to a body shop. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was contacted and sent an investigator to evaluate the vehicle and reported that while driving at 55 mph there was not enough G-force for air bag deployment. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The Uconnect 8.4" has a delamination problem that causes the screen to act like it's being touched. This causes distractions because the seats vent/heat turn on/off. The radio station changes frequently. It makes calls from your phone using Bluetooth and the only way to stop it is by using your phone which causes distractions. This is a known problem based on Google searches and Ram/Chrysler should fix this issue before ppl are injured/killed while driving. The u connect screen controls, climate, hazard lights, phone, and other apps which is a huge problem and safety issue.
Touch Screen on radio has peeled up and is bouncing all around from navigation, heat/air, radio and will not power off. Cannot use any function properly or connect the USB functionality. The dealership informed me it was a problem with all 2018 models and we would have to replace the entire screen. This is our opinion should be a recall on the model.
The (touch screen display) keeps asking me to change the clock settings while driving causing me to lose my navigation screen and I need to constantly (reach over to push the no button over and over). Dodge is aware of this problem. This is a safety issue since I rely on the navigation system, and it keeps interrupting me while driving. If I ignore the message, I have nothing else available to control many functions of the screen and navigation system.
I took my truck to the dealer Early 2022 for the recall. they couldn't help due to the shortage on the parts. I kept going every month because my truck was stalling. they kept telling me to leave them my email address and they will contact me when they get the parts for the recall. on August 30. I was driving on the freeway. I lost power. my truck couldn't go over 30 then declined to 25 then to 20mph. My truck start heating up really fast. I pulled a side and tow it to the dealer. Dealer stated that my crankshaft was cracked. I truly believe it cracked due to the recall. My high Presure fuel pump was defective and it cause my truck to overheat and crack the engine. I need Help. I ordered another engine which cost me $13,000.00 without the Instulation, now I have to wait till the dealer get an engine and they will charge me the instulation on top it which it will probably end up costing me near to $20,000 This happen all because of Dodge defective part from the recall
Driving down the interstate in the rain and the infotainment center starts randomly turning on and off the climate, turning off and on the heat/cool seats, turning on the backup camera, changing the stations, and just randomly changing settings. Truck is beeping alerts and very dangerous in the rain. It cannot be interrupted, this continued the whole 2 hour drive.
The Uconnect 8.4 inch radio is delaminating causing uncommanded inputs into the vehicles climate, sound system, and phone access. The vehicle changing music and climate is distracting, but the commands in phone access are extremely distracting and could cause safety issues to others. This is also a very common issue according to others and although some have received a FCA goodwill warranty I was not able to. The goodwill warranty tells me Chrysler and Uconnect know this is a common issue that needs to be corrected. Also, Chryslers fix is to replace the radio when the glue between the digitizer (touch screen) and main unit melts despite the main unit not being the cause of the defect. So charging people $1,000 dollars for a new unit is a bandaid issue as the unit will just delaminate again. This issue needs a more effective solution.
Turning onto a main hwy, vehicle would not move forward. Response time for throttle was more than 5 seconds. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes on order to not hit me. Vehicle is continually having throttle response issues.
I am having an issue with the radio screen on the vehicle is delaminating. This isn't repair able buy putting a new screen or screen protector on. the only thing is to replace the radio. the radio has the reverse camera connected to it and the radio controls the heating and AC. the radio also controls or changes settings in regards to electric brakes for trailers as well as lighting and etc. This is a major safety concern as when the delamination gets to the point of full delamination it tends to short the radio out. Shorting the radio out can cause the AC and heating which in the current weather climates becomes dangerous to be in. (heat stroke, frost bite, etc). the reverse camera also would be disabled which can be a potential danger to anything in rear of vehicle that isn't seen in the mirrors. Also a device shorting out also can cause fire. FCA is aware of the issue and is only replacing vehicles under the original 36,000 warranty. for everyone else it is Over $1,800 closer to $2,500 to have issue fixed that should be a recall issue.
The lights on the dash went out while sitting still. All of them flashed on then off again, a warning light about the transmission came on and then off again. The motor surged and would not stop, the brakes would not work, the shifter would not work. The vehicle surged into oncoming traffic.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the service electronic control warning light was illuminated and the vehicle went into Limp Mode. The contact was able to drive to his residence while experiencing the failure. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic cleared the code. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure was experienced three days later. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic cleared the fault code and reset the computer. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience failure again three days later. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer for a third time and again the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle needed to have the pressure checked. The dealer stated that the equipment to service the vehicle was not available to them. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to a second local dealer: Baxter Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Papillion (14920 Crest Road, Omaha, NE 68138: (402) 819-6852) and was informed that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer also informed the contact that the turbo needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. Parts distribution disconnect. The failure mileage was approximately 66,300.
The Uconnect display system is delaminating and it is causing the computer system to randomly start turning systems on and off as well as not allowing the navigation system to function properly. The air conditioner is effected as well as the radio and CarPlay system.
The magnetic material on the tone wheel delaminated causing the engine to stall and not restart. Incident was on the curve of a busy mountain road. The failed part was kept by dealer Jacky Jones Ram in Hayesville, NC. There were no prior warnings to the failure. This same failure is described in recall 20V-475 but my vehicle VIN is not included. There are several other occurrences in online forums of the same problem occuring on vehicles that are also outside of the recall VINs. The recall should be expanded to also include at least the vehicles that actually have the problem.
Electronic rack and pinion failed with 128,922 miles. From what I have read online that is too low of mileage for electrical rack failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The filler pipe for filling up gas will not take the gas from gas station filler nozzle you have to constantly engage nozzle it automatically shuts off and then you have to engage nozzle multiple times to fill gas tank. Dealer wanted to replace entire tank and filler pipe for $800.00. You asked what date did this occur it’s every time you put gas into the truck.
I have been getting regular mailings from Fiat Chrysler warning about the safety danger regarding the High pressure fuel pump for almost 2 years now. When I contact the dealer I am assured they will fix it when the fuel pump "grenades", but as long as the truck is running I shouldn't expect anything to be done. I have no fewer than three notices for the fuel pump and at least two for the "loss of crankshaft position" with no indications that anything will be done soon. Doing the math it looks like I can expect to be driving a safety hazard around for at least another 3-4 years and trying to sell it, like this, is unlikely. It may be a voluntary recall but it is a reflection of involuntary repairs and the fact I continue to get notices from Fiat Chrysler about how important this is shows that they are only going through the motions of safety and customer service.
There is a problem with the UConnect system where screen delaminating causes the system to be very erratic and make selections on it's own. It randomly selects any of a number of screens and makes selections within those screens causing major distraction while driving. This affects every selectable component including Radio, Media, Climate, Apps, Controls, Phone and Settings. This also takes my desire to run Max AC and instead gives Max Heat! Backup Camera, and many other issues. This is clearly worthy of investigation given the number of complaints I see on NHTSA for these issue. Please make this a recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hard starts and was making abnormal sounds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The contact stated that unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure recurred increasingly while driving. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 40-50 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact's husband was able to restart the vehicle and drove to his residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
