Power folding mirrors have failed and will not stay extended at highway speeds. At speed the drivers side mirror is very loose and flops around and will fold in against the drivers side window. When this happens the driver can no longer see behind him and must pull over to manually extend the mirror into the proper position. I have researched this online and it is common problem to this year, make and model. The dealership says the mirrors have just "worn out" and want $1600 to replace them, with no guarantee the new mirrors won't eventually have the same issue. The issue there is plastic gearing in the power fold mechanism that fails. This should not happen with a 4 year old vehicle that is garaged, and never abused.
In 2023 i replaced the electric power steering box after it seized up while I was driving. I have seen several recalls on this issue for every other year but 2019. The exact same issue exists in my truck. I spent $3500 to replace what should be a recall based on every other recall for this electric power steering that has occurred. The wheel locked in place and prevented me from even moving it from where it was. I was stranded in the middle of Tennessee on a road trip, while living in Arizona. This should absolutely be looked into. Truck was taken to Bristol, TN Dodge dealer. Friendship Chrysler Jeep Dodge.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while stopped in traffic, the vehicle inadvertently shifted into park and turned off without warning. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 108,818.
My ABS Brake Module failed with no warning until after failure. All dash warning lights illuminated after failure rear brakes locked up and would not release causing me to be stranded and requiring a tow service. Dealership confirmed failed ABS module and is currently being repaired but not covered by manufacturer resulting in out of pocket cost to myself. Truck has 57,408 miles on it.

Ticking noise. Issue with manifold. Had it fixed in 2022. Now it's occurring again. Called my local Dodge dealership and they said these parts are on back order because "so many are having the same issue". And asked if it was "still under warranty". #dodge When will this obvious recall actually be fixed? So many of your loyal customers are having issues. Your service depts are backed up with no parts. If you think we will stay loyal, you're wrong.
Radio blinks out, loss of power steering while driving and then it returns but then no power steering again.
Display in my gauge cluster on my 2019 ram 1500 is intermittent going in and out and lately is completely blank. Without the display I can not use the gauges, see if my tires are low, see how close I am to thing both forward and reverse with the park sense, low fuel light, cannot see the cruise control basically if there's a problem I can't see it because the display does not work I also cannot see current miles on the vehicle without the display.
Dead battery. Something in the electrical system is draining the battery. I replaced the battery approximately 2 months ago.
My name is [XXX]. I purchased a 2019 ram limited about three months ago. I noticed every time it rains. The rear of my roof has water stains. And my rear window leaks water. I have pictures and videos to show proof. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Code p0850 for the tcm. Transmission would not go in park it happened 3 times on 3/3/2023 and 2 time 3/4/2023 truck would not shutoff due to the issue engine light came on and remains on. Had to set emergency brake so truck wouldn't roll and jump start the following morning because ignition had to stay on after seeing a chunk of snow fall off the transmission about 18"x10"and 6"thick it now shifts to park engine light remains
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering with the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering). The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
The connector for the Trailer is located in a location that in the wrong place, the cable from all RVs and trailers is located at the left side of the hitch, so in order to attach the cable you need to stretch the cable and got loose when you turn, you need to get out and reconnect. Since the cable got disconnected the emergency brake of the camper got activated and after that things go to the wrong way, some tires explode for overheating, in other cases the trailer just got loose.
While decelerating and still in motion, the vehicle drops out of drive, unable to accelerate, and a warning appears on the display cluster to shift the vehicle into park and then back to drive.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering warning light illuminated but turned off after five minutes. While reversing, there was a grinding sound coming from the driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
The rear window frame has cracked and is allowing water to enter the vehicle and get the carpets wet which is causing mold and unpleasant environment inside the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the power steering failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle nearly crashed into the curb. The contact had pulled over, placed the vehicle in park(P), turned off, and restarted the vehicle and the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that a "RED steering wheel" warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become constant. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
While driving vehicle comes out of drive and into neutral. The driver has to stop and cycle transmission into park and then back into drive leaving the vehicle in the middle of an intersection with heavy traffic. No warnings or messages pre or post event. Dodge dealership has ran a scan and also drove to recreate and was unsuccessful. There is many people experiencing this issue. Just google it. THIS WILL EVENTUALLY KILL SOMEONE.
Unknown; Stop/Start sends error and malfunctions.
I'm not sure this isint a recall I bought this truck a few months ago with no warranty or exsteded warranty it has come to my attention when I start the truck I have a ticking sound now it's a sound of exaust escaping from exaust manifolds I know this cant be good with carbon monoxide escaping into the cab I went to dealership were I bought truck to no satisfaction I was told by Chrysler they would share expense when I went to dealership I was told I needed to pay before they would tell me what was wrong bit being a retired auto mechanic I knew what I was talking about with it being a safty issue so if there is any help for the many ram owners this problem goes back to 90s and still L going on thank you
Deteriorating dash, bubbling and peeling apart. Manufacturing defect with adhesive materials not holding leather to surface.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate inadvertently opened without warning. The contact also stated that on a separate occasion, the tailgate failed to open as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tailgate switch in the handle failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Ram. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal sound at the hood of the vehicle. The contact then stated that the vehicle started to overheat and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the thermostat and the oil pump and camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine head block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then stated that while making wide turns, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and failed to return to a straight position. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however not assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
I was at a stop sign and when I attempted to cross the intersection my truck started to go but seemed like it lost all power and a warning message popped up on the dash stating to "place truck in park than in gear" after that everything went back to normal, I also had the same thing happened in January. I brought my truck to the dealer and they found and installed a software update that was related to my concerns.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH and other various speeds, the instrument cluster went blank. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the instrument cluster failure was intermittent at first but had become a constant failure. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was no longer operational. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V556000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 51,079.
The vehicle lost power, and all of the service lights on the dashboard started lighting up, wipers turned on and off by themselves, headlights turned on and off. Most of the messages stated that service was required on AWD, shifter, parking assist, power steering, brakes...etc. The truck wasn't picking up speed and started shaking. At some point, I felt like the brakes were NOT responding. I was 2 minutes away from home, so I drove home and parked it. I found a few other 5th generation Ram owners online with the same issue. However, I just hit 40k miles on the car, and the basic warranty only covers until 30k miles. If this is a common problem, why isn't there a recall to fix the problem before someone crashes their truck, hurt themselves, or hurt someone else. This only adds to the water leaking from the back window problem.
The Ram app does not delete your car if you sell it. Which allows the previous owner to control the car by the app even though they do not own it anymore. The functions they can controled are starting the car, unlocking/locking the car and track it’s location. The ability of this functionality could create dangerous situations. What if a previous owner mistakenly starts the new owners car and it is in a garage.
2019 ram 1500 bighorn 5.7 slowed down truck started shaking really bad , throttle actuator mass airflow, stability control come on. Tried to start it quit and tried again engine started to turn over and stopped no lights nothing local shop said cylinder #8 gone engine locked needs engine 76,844 miles not under warranty had 2 other rams up to almost 150k no problems
Rear window seal is leaking which cracked the window frame allowing water to enter behind rear seat leaking onto the wireless control Module making it in operable. The vehicle would not start. This will become a safety issue when driving down the highway/local areas and you loose the module it shuts down the car no power at all. Power steering goes down breaks become more difficult to push. Chrysler knows about the leak but will not do anything. The suggested repair is to replace the rear window at $1600.00 and the Wireless Control Module. My vehicle had 26k miles on it and warranty ran out. I do have an extended Warranty but because the rear window was leaking the wireless control Module is not covered.
I have already had one mainfold bolt replaced by the dealer 8/6/21 before warranty expired and now I have another defective manifold bolt causing yet another exhaust leak. My vehicle has just over 72000 miles and this is a know issue with Ram and they need to take care of these issues.
When I went to go home at the end of the day on Friday, 2/3 around 6 pm the car would not start. I had to call someone to come & give me a jump start. I drove by the auto repair shop in the way home to have them check the battery, they couldn't tell me what was wrong only that the battery was low. On the way home I was turning left when everything started blinking and warning lights came on then everything died completely in the middle of the intersection. No lights, no power to anything. I had to wait 2 hours sitting in the middle of the intersection on a very dark night and almost got hit multiple times. The mechanics at the dealership working on the weekend couldn't figure out what was wrong so I had to wait until Monday, had to pay for a rental for the weekend. On Monday the mechanic was able to find a bulletin for the battery/generator system about a software update that needed to be done. Apparently since there wasn't a recall or complaint about the issue, it was not sent out as a required maintenance issue. This is absolutely crazy to me because it could have been a lot worse if I had been in a different situation when it stopped working. I have filled a complaint with Ram hoping it will go out to other truck owners so they don't find themselves in the same situation. The truck worked fine for a couple of days but when I went to leave the house yesterday, 2/12, Sunday, it clicked but wouldn't turn over.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated that the power steering failure warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,129.
Fuel filler does not allow fuel to enter at normal rate, causes pump to constantly kick off, annoying at first but now has become a safety hazard as some pumps now make fuel spit back out when filling, no warning lamps, took it to the dealer said it is a common issue, bad rollover valve needs a new tank, would not warranty the item because even though the truck has a decal under the hood stating that it California emissions, it does not have a California emission sales code.
Back glass has crack in frame around sliding glass window. Water is leaking into the truck from crack and causing back seat, carpet, ceiling liner and airbags in the ceiling liner to get wet.
The driver side exhaust manifold is leaking. I have had the passenger side replaced already. That issue occurred around 55,000 miles on my Ram. I am at 80,000 miles now with the driver's side having the same issue. I believe it is a bolt. I can smell exhaust and think this could cause a fire if not corrected. Along with the fire issue, I have noticed a decrease in gas mileage and believe to be experiencing lag or loss of power at times.
The instrument cluster will no longer light up allowing safety information to be seen. There was a recall (V83 or 19V556000) issued to a very small select number of vehicles. It appears that this is a known/common problem and the limited recall was issued intentionally to avoid fixing all affected vehicles. Information such as tire pressure, digital speedometer, CURRENT MILEAGE, and other important safety information is not visible.
The issue is that as a result of faulty factory installation of the rear window and the resulting issues it caused that were beyond my control, I had to pay $2000 that the manufacturer will not cover. The truck rear window was installed improperly causing a slight leak that was not detectable unless the rear seats were removed. At the same time the third brake light gasket was also leaking, and these leaks were not detectable by any normal means. The result of the leaks was that the RF unit that allows all of the key fobs and the main start button to function was damaged thus rendering the truck unusable. Manufacturing defects like this could have caused my truck to fail while driving it and could have been a huge safety issue. Luckily that did not happen to me. The manufacturer should be held accountable for these types of production failures.
Vehicle lost power while driving and received an error message stating please shift truck into to Park to get to desired gear. Had to turn vehicle off while in traffic to get it moving again.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while his daughter was driving at various speeds, the steering wheel Intermittently failed after 30-40 seconds and became difficult to maneuver. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the low voltage battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not re-repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was awaiting a call back. The failure mileage was 19,318.
Rear window, third brake light & sxm antenna all leak into the cab.. Not covered under warranty. All ram trucks have this issue. Should be recalled
Water intrusion through the back window seal causing damage to the module causing truck to shut down and stop working. Was informed by the dealer on 01/25/23 that that was the issue. Truck initially didn’t open with key fob opened manually with key and the alarm went off was able to start it but wouldn’t shut off so I had to disconnect the battery then after tht it wouldn’t start at all had to have it towed to the dealership it happened right after heavy rain for 3 days.
74,000 miles: I left a parking lot the transmission wouldn't shift, check engine light came on, I pulled over, shift knob went to park on its own. I shut off the engine, waited, restarted, shifted to drive, same thing, I repeated the same process. This happened a total of 3 times. 4th attempt I was able to drive normally. I have constantly had issues with the shift know not recognizing park. I have contacted my dealer and I'm told that I'm opening the door to soon. Bring it in when it's acting up, we have never head of this, the list goes on. I have also been driving to work and the engine light has come on, I got to a stop light, stopped, shift know went to park. I couldn't move the shift selector. Shut off the engine, waited about 15 seconds while drivers are blowing there horns, drivers in the other lane are driving by. Restart the engine, I still couldn't move the shift selector. Repeat. Then I could drive again. No check engine light. Once again contacted the dealer, I was told that unless it has an active check engine light they cant do anything. At some this vehicle will leave me stranded.
Vehicle powertrain, engine, and electrical systems, including brake, power steering, and dashboard systems completely shut down (were completely 'black'/off) on three separate occasions - two of which occurred while operating the vehicle. The first occurred while driving on a public/local road in early Dec 2022. Although all systems lost power and were unresponsive, I was able to coast the vehicle to the shoulder without impacting moving vehicles or fixed objects. The vehicle was towed to a Ram Service provider where the issue was investigated for approximately 10-days. The reason for mechanical failure could not be determined, however, they replaced the battery and key fob as precautionary measures - partially at my cost. The basic warrantee expired approximately 3,000 miles before servicing, however the powertrain warrantee is still valid. The second instance was today, 1/10/23, when I parked the car. The shutdown occurred while stationary and in 'park'. After leaving the vehicle for about 30 minutes, it started again without explanation. I reported the incident to the Ram Service provider and began to drive it to the service provider. Upon arrival, it was suggested that I return on Monday, January 23 for the issue to be investigated on the 24th. While driving to my home today, 1/10/23, the vehicle lost all power and was nearly completely unresponsive. I was operating the vehicle at speeds in excess of 65MPH on a 6-lane divided highway with minimal shoulder. Again, I was able to coast the vehicle to the narrow shoulder where it was eventually towed from and to the Ram Service provider where the issue remains under investigation. The photos, taken today, 1/10/23, show the location where I was able to park the vehicle from the highway and the narrowness of the shoulder, and the tachometer and speedometer which show the speedometer and tachometer 'frozen' and still displaying RPMs/speed from before the shutdown. Notice no warning lights appeared.
The power steering light came on, then the steering wheel began to move in a short abruption manner. Afterwards it was difficult to turn while driving and impossible while in park or at a stop. Vehicle was built in Oct 17, 2018 which there was a recall on other trucks but not this one. Once I went to the dealership and was informed that in fact it was not on the recall, I left. On the way home the steering wheel began the abrupt movement again while I was driving, I lost control of the vehicle for about 5-10 seconds swerving all over the road putting myself and everyone around me at risk. Once I gained full control it went back to normal, steering wheel had full range of motion with no needed of excessive force. “Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module "A"-” was what was presented as the issue at the dealership.
Bought 2019 RAM used in March 2020, had 22,500 miles. One morning the radio display began flickering and jumping around to different screens or settings as if someone was controlling it or logged into the control unit. This happened a few times. I videoed some of this going on with my phone. Then called the dealer. They said they would need it to happen while at the shop to determine the problem. Of course it stopped before I made it to the dealer. Dealer looked into it but could not determine an issue or problem. However it appeared to be fixed after that visit. There have be occasions that I’ve had problems starting the truck. It’s almost as if the truck does not sync with key. After removing key, open and shut door or flipping key over, turn key it cranks. January 10, while at work, everything was working fine on truck that morning. After driving 2.5 hrs, I stopped and got out of truck for 5 minutes. Once back at truck, cranked it and began driving off the power steering failed to work. Popped the hood, examined to see if I could find problem but no luck. Carried truck to local mechanic Jan 11. They saw several codes but wasn’t sure of problem. So he cleared all codes and rechecked. Couldn’t find quick easy fix. Then I made appointment with dealer. Dealer said the steering rack and pinion needs replaced but there isn’t a recall on my truck. However I’m seeing a lot of articles about this same issue with 2019 RAM. Also have a co-worker with a RAM that experiences the same odd electrical issues on his RAM. Would like some help to connect the ongoing problems with RAM electrical problems and fix it for all RAM owners. Have videos of radio issues while it’s jumping around but I could not upload in section below. It only allows photos.
The power steering went out during a left turn and as I parked I couldn’t turn the truck off with the push start I had to disconnect both battery terminals in order to shut the truck off with the push start the power steering light has continuously been on and flashes on the display whenever you make a turn According to the manufacturers books provide it with the truck it says that if you shut the truck off it will reset when you restart that has not happened Spoke with the Dodge dealer and since there’s no recall he advised me that I would have to bring it in for diagnostics and have it repaired myself
vehicle will not respond to keys and intermittently will start and drive then die in the middle of the road. Waring lights turn on then go off. truck will be fine for a few days then fail to start and completely drain the battery. Water is entering the vehicle cause moisture and mold on the carpet and possible cause of the electrical problems. when truck is off radio will turn on and off and dome lights flash
To my knowledge this is a very common issue with the 5.7L Hemi. My 2019 Ram 1500 Classic bighorn that currently sits at just over 51,000 miles has notorious Hemi tic. I have done my research and have found over 75 people that have had the same issue. I have heard that it is due to too many hrs of idle time but I have read and seen many videos showing that the underlying cause is due to faulty lifters, cams and also the horrible MDS. I have noticed that Ram went to the engine management system that shuts the truck off when you come to a complete stop instead of the MDS that shuts down several of the cylinders when at a consistent speed. I would like for something to be done not only for me but other customers that like the Ram trucks! This has not been diagnosed by dealership but I have worked on vehicles my entire life and have done my fair share of research on this subject! Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
To whom it may concern, It is of extreme concern the interior moisture issue my vehicle is experiencing. My vehicle has been to Chrysler Dodge Jeep and RAM in Valencia, California twice, for inspections, for reoccurring moisture inside the vehicle. On two separate inspections, on two separate dates, the investigation revealed no moisture issues present. Unfortunately, this week after a moderate rain storm, I discovered that all the interior electronics were dead inside the vehicle, although the exterior power was working on the exterior. Additionally, I discovered several heavy moisture areas within the interior cabin, which was described to me by service personnel, as being common. Finally, I also discovered upon closing the left rear door that there was moderate water draining out of the door, and or possible frame of the vehicle.
The vehicle’s rear window started leaking with normal rain. Airbags are present in the area and are prone to getting get. This can be a hazard in case of an accident.
