The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, on several occasions the contact observed an abnormal ticking sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his uncle was driving at 70 MPH, the transmission inadvertently shifted from drive(D) to park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
November of 2022 I took my truck to the lithium dealership in Reno NV for an exhaust leak they reported back to me that they replaced the manifold passenger side. two weeks later exhaust leak returned they informed me that it was a lifter tick and there was no exhaust leak this was at 51,000 miles. The problem got worse I took it back to them twice with both times I'm telling me it was a lifter tick, but I could smell exhaust in the cab of the vehicle. Now that the truck is out of warranty it's 61,000 miles the exhaust leak got so bad I took it to a different dealership where they have found both exhaust manifolds were leaking and now that it's out of warranty the extended warranty has taken over. but with that said now I am without a car because the extended warranty does not cover loaner cars. the manifolds are both on national back order. the sad part about this is the lithium dealership said they replaced the exhaust manifold and they did not according to the Carson dodge dealership the manifolds were never changed. Apparently this is a known problem with these vehicles and the parts are on national back order. I just find it very disgusting that a dealership would kick the can down the road just so they didn't have to replace the exhaust manifolds or give me a rental car while my truck was sitting there so now I have my truck in the dealership with no ETA on when I'll get it back I'm having to rent a car on my own and still make a truck payments. Don't know if this is a common practice with Ram/Chrysler but this is a despicable way to do business. The second problem is the power steering assist stops working while I'm driving that is also at the dealership waiting for parts that are on national back order.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V767000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light and power train warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was difficult to turn to the left or right, and while pulling off the roadway the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights illuminated while attempting to restart the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the E-Torque Alternator had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,553.
I have a 2020 RAM 1500 truck with 35,000 and one of the two bolts holding the exhaust together has corroded complete off and the second is heavily corroded. The flange where these bolts have corroded holds the complete front section and back section on the exhaust together so if this second bolt fails, the complete exhaust will separate in the center and be extremely dangerous if this happen while the vehicle is being driven. I also have friends who had had the same issue with their RAM 1500 Hemi trucks and see multiple posts on line complaining about this same issue.
First intermittent ticking from engine. Then sudden loud exhaust noise at 15,000 miles. Hemi engine known to have rusted bolts/cracked manifolds in past. Recall?
The last 3 times I tried to fill my fuel tank the fuel would trickle in to the tank and the pump would shut off. The last time when the tank was finally full, after 10 plus minutes of fueling, the pump did not shut off and gas splashed back at me. It is not the pump because the fill ups were at different gas stations. There has been a Service Tech Bulletin but when I contact RAM they gave me the impression that I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. This problem is well documented online, numerous complaints, and I feel it is a tremendous safety issue. I have an open case with FCA and we will see how that goes.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 25-30 MPH, another vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into her vehicle head-on. The vehicle then struck a pole. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy after the initial crash or after striking the pole. The contact sustained injuries to her ribs, head, left leg, lower back, pelvic bone, and sustained a concussion. Medical assistance was provided. The contact was unaware of any other injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the tow lot and was not diagnosed, inspected, or repaired. The contact was unaware if the vehicle had been deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,738.
This occurred twice under normal operating conditions. Started to proceed when light turned green RPMs went to 6000 and the gas pedal became mush no power, had to put truck back in neutral and then drive. That fixed the problem. This also occurred why driving on highway at 70MPH,applied gas and the RPMS went to 6000 pedal became mush basically lost power then put in neutral then drive again and the problem was fixed.
Both driver/passenger side adjustable sun visors broke while driving the vehicle, causing the visor to smack me in the face, and almost veering into another street lane without intention to do so. Now that they are both broken, it is ineffective to use in order to block the sun from blinding the driver while operating the vehicle. This presents a very unsafe driving condition, as they are constantly dropping from the fastening arm. Before I attempt to purchase new replacements, I feel this should be replaced at cost by the manufacturer cause there is intricate wiring inside the arms which have detached from the fastener. My vehicle isn't even three years of age and the sun visors are not handled rigorously outside of normal operation handling. See photos provided.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he noticed that the interior of the vehicle was wet. The contact then stated that he noticed that the rear windshield was cracked, and water was leaking through the crack. The vehicle was taken to J Auto Ranch where it was diagnosed that the windshield plastic seal had cracked from the inside and the windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 63,619.
I was made aware of this recall in October via mail, and since then have tried to make contact with the dealership. I purchased from Carmax and bought the MaxCare warranty, but seeing as this is a recall I took the vehicle to RAM after receiving the recall notice. I told them how this is a serious recall and the fact that there is no remedy was unsafe for me to continue driving. They assured me that RAM was working on it. They offered me the option of purchasing my truck for less than I owed on it and to roll over the remaining balance into a new loan. I declined. On February 3, 2023 I was driving and my vehicle jolted and shut off. Upon starting it up again my check engine light came on. I drove half a mile to a Big O Tires shop to run the code. On a Solis Ultra reader it ran 088 - High Pressure in Fuel Rail. So i took the vehicle straight to the RAM dealership where they offered me the same resolution as last time. I declined and went to Carmax and stated that I am paying for a vehicle that I now cannot drive due to safety and since I have MaxCare that I should be entitled to another vehicle of equitable value since there is currently no remedy. I was told to go back to RAM and talk to manufacturer. I spoke with RAM care and opened a claim and was advised that a remedy is expected in quarter 2 of 2023. After several calls to many different case managers, I was advised that I would have to get a rental out of my own pocket and would hopefully get reimbursed, and that I would have to wait after the weekend to hear anything else. The service rep told me that since there is no remedy currently, the best they can do is look at it and if there are no issues to put the fuel pump back in. This is an unsafe vehicle, and I refuse to continue paying for something that does not work due to the manufacturers fault, nor am I willing to rollover another vehicle loan payment since they are not open to equitable trades.
Exhaust manifolds leaking at cylinder heads due to broken manifold bolts.
Brake warning lamp is on for low fluid but fluid is okay. Electronic stability control not functioning.
While driving down the interstate, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. I was not under a bridge or a tunnel so nothing fell onto the sunroof. It just shattered out of no where.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil filter was cracked, causing oil to leak inside the engine compartment. The dealer wiped off the oil, and the oil filter was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,124.
Rear window and 3rd brake light leaking multiple times. Rear window replaced multiple times. rear window leaked this time causing an electrical short draining my battery and cause certain electronic parts of the truck not to work properly. Cracks it rear window are extremely prevalent on this vehicle and it is a known issue yet there hasn't been permanent adequate fix by the manufacturer and isn't covered once warranty runs out. the problem is a composite frame to the window that is going to crack no matter what due to temperature changes and flex in the body of the vehicle.
I was driving my car west on Sunnyside Ave just before Se 132nd ave at approximately 40 MPH. My truck then abruptly turned off and I lost all power. I coasted safely into the left turn lane and kept the brake on. The truck was completely unresponsive to restarting and there was no function of the start button. There was power in the battery but the engine and dash computer were non functioning. The truck needed to be towed to the dealership where it is located currently at Ron Tonkin Dodge/ram/keep service center at 16800 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, OR 97267. Currently no diagnosis as of 1136 on Friday January 20th.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to be serviced by an independent mechanic, and the mechanic noticed an abnormal sound coming from the fuel injectors. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of gasoline in a short period of time. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by the independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
I have a 2020 Ram Rebel. The back window has three leaks with the one in the center being the worst. It is ruining my back seat from the water coming in whenever it rains. It appears all three leaks are coming from the top of the window.
I was making a right turn after being stopped at a light and made it approximately 100 feet before the vehicle just shut off. I was able to steer to the side of the street, stop, and restart the vehicle. I didn’t hear or see anything abnormal but it all happened so far. The dealer is looking at it now (in the next 5-7 days). This is a real safety concern.
Rear Window had cracked frame due to defect allowed water to enter vehicle during storms running down and blocking vision out back window vision. The water would freeze since defroster malfunctioned from water intrusion hampering visibility. Additionally, resulting water damage to interior and possibly electrical / airbags in ceiling next to frame exposed to water intrusion. Dealer indicated this is consistent problem with all Ram 2020 pickup trucks and older.
Back in December and January when the weather was below 30 degrees the rear doors would not open on my truck. By the time I got to the dealer the doors warmed up enought to allow them to open, well In March we had another cold snap and my daughters left rear door did not latch all the way and opened when driving about 20 miles per hour. I have the truck at the shop today and they say they cannot find anything wrong with the truck. This only happends when the weather is cold enought to hard freeze. I am not the only one, https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/problem-with-rear-outside-door-handles.28572/
Exhaust manifold bolts snapping at low milage causing exhaust to possibly leak into the cabin. Most people are getting manifolds resurfaced and replacing the bolt's. If you replace manifold with new, it will warp again and break bolts again. Apparently the manifolds were not “Stress Relieved” in the manufacturing process. Lots of people are complaining and Ram dealers are saying it happens a lot. Cost to fix is approx. $1,000.
Manifolds. This is an ongoing problem with ram owners. They blow at early mileage and progressively get worse until the fumes are in the cab. This can be extremely dangerous and could cause unconsciousness or even death if it’s bad enough. If someone where to become unconscious behind the wheel, it could put many people at danger.
There is a problem with the way dodge/ram is doing recalls on the tailgate latches. They are only testing them out three times to see if they fail to attach. We have damage to the tailgate from a faulty latch and they said the latch passed the inspection and there is nothing wrong with it. Damage did occur while we was going down the road and the tailgate fell open but the striker is "fine" something happened!!! This is going to cause serious injuries and dodge/ram does not care. All they care about is the money not safety of the individuals. That check is useless as we all know sometimes things happen and it may no occur after the third but maybe the fourth or fifth. They will not even repair the damage the recall caused to my tailgate. But the tailgate is "fine"
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at unknown speeds, there was an abnormally loud exhaust sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the exhaust manifold was cracked. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
While filling up with gas the gas pump will cut off after pumping a small amount. I reposition the pump into the neck of the gas tank and try to pump more gas. The same problem occurs. You can only pump 25 to 50 cents of gas at a time. I called the dealer today after researching on line to see if there was a recall. They told me to bring it in, they would get to it in a few weeks. I researched to find there is not a recall on my truck for this problem but other 1500. My truck is having the same issue. I will update this case once its diagnosed by the dealer.
Tailgate sensor indicates that tailgate is open, when it is closed. This happens repeatedly, even after dealer repairs or adjustments. Bed-lighting remains on during this period.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the engine seized. The contact stated the message “Parking Brake not Engage” and the Push to Start warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and fully turn off the vehicle. The contact stated after waiting for a while, the vehicle was restarted but was unable to be turned off. The contact stated the vehicle continued to experience the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
After driving in a few inches of wet snow for about 20 minutes enough snow built up around the transmission that when I went to shift it into park it failed to do so. The dash displayed that there was an error with the transmission and it was unable to determine what gear I was in. The truck was not able to fully turn off and was stuck in accessory mode as a result. After changing gears multiple times with no luck I was finally able to shift it to drive and get moving again. I then proceeded to get it scheduled by the local dealership in my area to see if they could figure out what the problem was. after inspecting it they informed me that there was snow buildup on my transmission that caused the park/neutral switch to get stuck/not work. They removed the snow and said that everything was operating normally, but informed me that it was a self-inflicted issue and not a fault of the design or manufacturer. The issue has been temporally resolved by removing the snow, but there seemed to be no permeant fix for the issue.
The dashboard leather on my 2020 Ram Longhorn (VIN [XXX] ) has severely bubbled and separated from the underlying structure. The warping creates dangerous glare and distortion in the windshield, compromising forward visibility. Additionally, the deformation extends over the passenger side airbag panel, raising serious concerns about whether the airbag can deploy correctly. This is a well-documented defect on 2019–2020 Ram Longhorn dashboards due to adhesive failure, not wear and tear. FCA/Stellantis is aware of the issue and has issued technical bulletins, but many vehicles remain unrepaired. This should be treated as a safety issue and addressed via recall or extended coverage. Engine shuts down on stop. Normal. But sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal, the starter grinds unusually long and when the engine does restart the vehicle lunges forward. As my foot is instinctively on the accelerator, this sometimes could cause a rear end collision with another vehicle. This scenario has twice caused the engine light to come on. No related codes detected by dealer. The issue did present itself during a test drive with a dealer mechanic. He reset the codes to out the light. No code or solution suggested.
While I was driving my vehicle just completely shutdown. I lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road. I pressed the start button and nothing happened. I continued to try pressing it and it finally started back up, and I drove home. A couple days later I tried starting it and it wouldn't start. Finally it started and I drove it about 100 miles. I got in it the following day and it won't start again. I'm concerned that the vehicle could shutdown on me again while driving.
Truck engine has shut off when coming to a stop or slowing down making a turn. Yes vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle has stopped in the middle of roadway Problem has happened multiple times, has not been confirmed Vehicle has not been inspected No warning lamps or messages.
Discovered a wet carpet under rubber floor mats with no water visible on the surface of the vehicle. Sent to dealer to discover cause of leak. Turns out the body under the driver-side fender has a gaping hole where weld failed. Structural damage visible. Water was getting through this hole and causing water damage. Manufacture defect likely
5.7 V8 right rear exhaust manifold leaks exhaust gases due to broken manifold bolts. Weight of the exhaust header appears to fracture the header bolts causing the leak. Seems to be a common issue for the vehicle.
Water Leaking from rear window which will affect electronics and airbags. found cracks to window frame and wet interior. Contacted Ram 800 number and open case which was denied told would have to pay for myself. manufacture knows about faulty window's and continue to install which they want $1300.00. Buying a $60k truck you would think ram would step up and start fixing these. Just noticed after last rain.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and idling, the vehicle inadvertently rolled forward without warning. The vehicle rolled forward and pinned his brother to the front driver’s side box located at the opening of the garage door. Medical attention was required. The contact’s brother was later declared deceased. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer nor the dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Manufacturer Safety recall issued NHTSA #22V-904 Recall #ZB8 2019 - 2022 D TRUCK TAILGATE LATCH ALIGNMENT Status: Remedy available
I have a 2020 Ram1500 Laramie and I developed a rear window leak. I am not sure if it was from the break light or the actual window. I did take it to the dealer and it was fixed with a 1 year warranty from the company that repaired it. However, I do not believe this is sufficient. The Truck will be 3 years old in one year as I brought it Aug 2022 and if this happens again in the next 5 years, I believe it should be covered from the manufacture as this has happened to many vehicles from what I can see on the forums. I believe this should be a recall that Ram is responsible for covering for the life of the vehicle.
When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.
The passenger side visor constantly disengages from the ceiling and falls down blocking the view of the driver. The issue requires taking both hands and shoving the visor back into the ceiling. This happened so often that now the visor won't engage back into the ceiling and the wiring for the mirror light has also broken.
Rear window leaking water into cab. Water flows behind seat, where electronics are present. Inspected by dealership and rear window needs replacement. Not covered under warranty and repair deferred due to significant cost.
2020 RAM 1500 with etorque. Truck 12v battery goes dead every 2-3 days. This was caused by a leak in the rear window allowing water to gather behind the rear seat resulting multiple issues including loss of control of navigation system, heater and radio. Dealer states water caused electrical shorts in canbus resulting in multiple system failures.

Driving on a two lane highway at speed. The truck shut off, all controlls turned off and park brake applied. The vehicle to the rear nearly rear ended my truck. I swerved onto a side street to get out of traffic, barley missing a power pole. Had vehicle towed to dodge dealer and they are repeatedly stating there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. They are also refusing to pursue the matter any further.
Both exhaust manifolds cracked creating an exhaust allowing exhaust gases/fumes into the vehicles cabin causing an obvious safety issue. No warnings lights of any sort, the components were inspected by the dealership and confirmed that they were cracked. This is a recurring problem as a quick search about ram exhaust manifolds will provide a never ending list of stories and the dealer themselves stated they are constantly replacing cracked exhaust manifolds everyday and the parts are hard to get due to the issue being so common.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at a slow speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The driver opened the door and the alarm engaged. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear electrical wiring harness was corroded, and water had entered the vehicle and damaged the unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 5,100. The VIN was not available.
