NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2022 Ram 1500. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Truck has stopped completely including brakes and truck shutting completely off three times, causing almost collisions three times now. This is an extreme safety risk, this vehicle was just purchased from dealer three month ago and all maintenance and recalls thus far have been dealt with
Turning left from a stop sign, engine turned off in the middle of the intersection and parking brake was automatically applied. max speed achieved approximately 5mph. Red Battery dash light was illuminated. Dash instructions were to press brake pedal and push park brake release button. after completing I was able to shift to park and restart the vehicle. Red battery dash light remained. After moving vehicle to a safe location I turning off the vehicle, waited ~20 seconds, and restarted it. battery light was good and digital voltage gauge showing 13.9V. no further issues on the commute to work.
Truck shut off and emergency brake came on the truck finally restarted after a few minutes i released parking brake and drove home luckily it happened in a empty parking lot
I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break).
While going approximately 15 mph the truck shut off and said press brake to start like it does upon entry into the vehicle when it hasn’t been running, and then to put it in park. I had no gas and had to stop on the middle of the road to switch the truck into park, turn it all the way off, then restart it and then release the parking brake.
Vehicle suddenly stalled and didn’t restart, showing low voltage, lights and gauges flashed erratically. This happened in 2024, brought to dealer, they advised no codes to diagnose issue. Happened again 4/1/2026, battery dead low voltage, had appointment at dealer and issue corrected on its on before appointment.
Im driving vehicle and randomly the vehicle will shut off when making turns. It is random every so many months. But it has done in major intersections. It will immediately start back up so that’s good. But there are no engine lights. And dealership Does not seam like they can do a whole lot with engine no lights on. But it seems common when doing research online The vehicle is a 2022 Ram 1500 with 55,000 miles
[XXX] I was local driving and my Ram truck got silent and engine died. I still had power steering. When I rolled to a stop the message said "press brake and put in park". The truck put itself in park before I pressed the brake pedal. It took 3 attempts to get my truck started. I drove to Walker dealer in Alexandria, La., and reported problem. Service advisor put a computer on the truck and it had a code. We made an appointment for 4-7-26 to get it resolved. I left my truck at the dealership at 8:30am and picked it up at 5pm. Advisor said they fixed a code and everything else checked out in OK status. That part was under warranty so no charge. The same thing happened last summer but I did not report it as I was able to start the truck and thought I had done something wrong. I am scared to make a trip anywhere and leave me stranded. I now make sure I have towing coverage. Because it is something that has to do with computers, I have to stay close to a dealership because their computer tools are proprietary. The truck gave no warning or indication of any kind. It just died. I keep all my paperwork from the dealership. I bought the truck with 2000 miles on it. We have experienced failure of both sun visors. They fall out of the ceiling I had the passenger side repaired last year while driving today the driver side fell out this drops down and blocks view and impairs steering. I had to hold it up and exit the roadway almost striking the vehicle in front and also on my right. This completely fell out of the ceiling on both without warning
While driving on the 60 East highway (approximately 65-68 mph), the vehicle did not accelarate and became completely non-responsive. Each time I pressed on the gas pedal, the RPM needle started trembling between 600-1100, which is much lower than where it should be while the vehicle was in Drive and traveling at this speed. This was an extremely dangerous situation as I had my wife and 5 month old daughter in the vehicle, and other vehicles were traveling significantly faster than me. I noticed some engine vibrations, and the digital gauge cluster screen presented information on the screen as if the vehicle was "off." It instructed me to push the gear lever into Park. It then instructed me to press the brake pedal and push the iginition button. All of this occurred as the vehicle was still coasting (likely around 40 mph). I pulled over on to the shoulder to see what occurred. After coming to a complete stop the engine cut out. I was able to restart the vehicle and drove approximately 10 minutes before it occurred again on the surface streets. At that point the ignition did not catch and it sounded very much like the engine was not able to turn on at all. The check engine light turned on at this point. I called AAA for tow services shortly thereafter, and the vehicle was dropped off at the dealership. I have not received any followup from the dearlership yet.
On 3/28/2026 my vehicle decided to engage the emergency brake, shift into park and turn engine off at the intersection with oncoming traffic approaching causing several vehicles to dangerously navigate around my vehicle to avoid an accident
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while making a left turn out of the driveway, there was a clunking sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle failed to steer or turn properly. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not yet diagnosed; however, the tow truck driver stated that the ball joint of the upper control arm on the passenger’s side had fractured completely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
While driving at low speeds twice now my ram 1500 has stalled and engaged the parking break. Once coming to a stop and another time making a turn onto a road. Once I turn the truck back on there is a battery light on the dash and I’m allowed to drive to a safe place and restart the truck and the battery light goes away. Very concerned for my safety due to living next to a busy road.
-The wiring harness to the right of the rearview mirror combusted, causing a fire that lead to insurance totaling the vehicle. -Being that this issue occurred with the vehicle off, and no one present this could be a serious issue if not for neighbors seeing the fire and putting it out. -No, due to this being a fire, it can not be reproduced or confirmed. -Police, fire and insurance investigators all have inspected the vehicle fire. Both fire and insurance have agreed the fire started at the same point. -There were no warnings of any kind prior to the fire.
I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue with my Ram 1500. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of complete power loss while driving, including at highway speeds. During these events, the vehicle abruptly shuts down without warning. The dashboard lights illuminate (including the battery and check engine lights), followed by total electrical failure. The engine turns off, the radio and displays go dark, and I lose power steering and braking assist, then the emergency brake engages, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. These incidents have occurred more than once and are unpredictable. In at least one instance, I was forced to pull over on the highway after the vehicle lost all power while in motion. The loss of steering and braking assistance created a dangerous situation, especially as I have had my children in the vehicle. After one incident, the vehicle was jump-started and the battery was replaced; however, the issue recurred. A mechanic previously reported that no diagnostic codes were found and no problem could be identified, despite the severity of the failure. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for further evaluation. This issue appears consistent with other reports of Ram 1500 vehicles experiencing sudden loss of motive power and electrical failure. The intermittent nature of the defect and lack of diagnostic codes make it difficult to detect, increasing the safety risk. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle, as it can shut down without warning while driving. I am requesting further investigation into this issue due to the significant risk of crash or injury.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Fortitude H/T Tires, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: 14BYJJK1R. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that all four tires were cracked on the sidewalls, and the treads were crumbling and separated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was offered a discount on the purchase of a new set of tires. The contact stated that the tires were poorly manufactured and unsafe. The tires and vehicle failure mileage were approximately 17,900.
With auto start stop system turned off the engine will die when coming to a stop. The truck then shifts into park and brakes auto apply. No check engine lights no failure indications. Starts up and runs everything fine afterwards. Happens at first 3 stops and then will not happen again unless truck sits for more then 2 hours. Dealers unable to fix cause no check engine lights and nothing recorded in computer. This is a software problem they say wait for a recall.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V720000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
SMELL OF COOLANT THROUGHOUT THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP WHERE A PRESSURE TEST WAST CONDUCTED. IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A BAD HEATER CORE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE RAM TRUCK. THIS WAS AMENDED FROM A EARLIER REPORT. SENT THE WRONG DOCUMENT FROM THE SHOP.
SMELL OF COOLANT THROUGH OUT THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND AFTER A PRESSURE TEST WAS CONDUCTED, IT WAS FOUND TO BE A BAD HEATER CORE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the contact was pulled over by the Local Police and was informed that the taillights were dark. The contact turned on the exterior lights using the automatic function on the light switch. The contact stated that there was no warning illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the brake lights operated as needed. The contact stated that the other exterior lights were operated as designed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact’s husband checked the main fuse box, and all the fuses were operational, and the taillight bulbs were operational as well. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and transferred the contact to a local dealer for assistance. The dealer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 46,898.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH and approaching a speed hump, the driver's side front wheel detached at the ball joint, disabling the vehicle. The vehicle was towed by AAA to a certified mechanic. The mechanic determined that the driver's side ball joint cotter pin was either fractured or missing. The mechanic became aware of a failure with the passenger’s side wheel, also. The vehicle was repaired. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer, but the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
When coming to a stop at a stop sign, my truck randomly shut off while in gear, automatically shifted to park and put the ebrake on. I restarted my truck and shut off the ebrake and drove fine the rest of the way.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating to enter the highway, the parking brake activated unintendedly, and the vehicle stalled. The failure also occurred while driving 5 MPH. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and lost automotive power on other occasions when the vehicle was first started, and the accelerator was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.
2022 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7l Hemi coolant system issues. Every time I get out of my truck I smell coolant. Took it to Crain Dodge Ram & Jeep Benton, AR. The first time they pressure tested system and found no leaks. Told me it was normal! 1 week later, it's back and they could smell how bad it was.Still no leaks. I dropped it off and after 2 weeks, they haven't touched it. Finally after 3 weeks they send me a text saying that there is dirt in the coolant and needs to be flushed and will cost $400. Truck is still under the 60k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I told them that if there were no leaks, and my truck has never seen mud and rarely sees gravel, I did some research and found several TSB's on the coolant system being contaminated by engine oil and that there is also an issue with casting sand being left in the engine blocks after manufacturing process, and contaminats the coolant system and Jeep is having the same issue which is causing engine fires! I took screenshots of the TSB's I found online and sent them to the dealership. They refuse to address the issue and have not made any attempts to resolve the issue! I should not be held responsible for the engine manufacturer leaving casting sand in the block and is causing coolant issues in my truck! Why would a dealership, that I have bought 3 Ram trucks from, 2 suv's from, not even attempt to investigate the issues of coolant contamination that seems to be a recurring problem in these trucks! And how many other people have they scammed and made them pay for coolant flush and new coolant? And just how much damage has been done to the aluminum heads, thermostat, heater core, and radiator after coolant has circulated through the system like a sand blaster, eating away at all of the interior coolant parts and cylinder heads and gaskets! And what kind of permanent damage to the engine and water pump do I have to worry about in the future, that will most likely occur after the factory warranty has expired!
The part on my truck in question is the "OEM Actuator Manifold Runner", or "ISV Actuator", or "Swirl Valve Actuator". I've seen the part called several things online. My mechanic and dealerships I've visited with tell me this part is on major back order and 300+ individuals nationwide are also waiting on the part. I'm told there is no open recall for this part. My truck is currently not safe to drive and the part is unavailable. There needs to be a recall placed on this part that so many people are having the same issue with and cannot obtain the parts needed to repair the issue. This is costing me thousands of dollars worth of rental car fees, and I still have no estimated timeframe on when this part will be available. Again, there should be a recall on this part. Based on what I've read online this part availability issue is not new. If not a recall, this part must be under warranty after the abundance of cases related to this part. How can I get a solution to this issue?
UNKNOWN exact component, but it is a critical failure within the electrical/charging system or the 48V eTorque system. The dealership previously suspected the eTorque system and replaced the belt tensioner, but the failure continues. The vehicle is currently available for inspection and has been sitting at an authorized Ram dealership for the last three weeks. The vehicle suffers a complete and sudden loss of motive power while driving. When it stalls, the truck automatically engages "auto park" and applies the parking brake. This has happened repeatedly while pulling into active traffic and while passing through busy intersections (most recently in downtown Chicago). This sudden, uncontrollable stop in the middle of an intersection creates an extreme and immediate risk of a severe rear-end or T-bone collision for myself, my passengers, and surrounding motorists. Yes, the dealership was able to successfully replicate the stall while their technicians were driving it. But I don't think they had any type of computer hooked up to it. However, the attempt at repair during the second service visit involved replacing the eTorque belt tensioner based on my description of the failure, acknowledging that a slip could cause the issue. They have not been able to replicate during this last visit. Despite putting over 400 test miles on the truck during the current (third) visit, they cannot get the intermittent failure to occur while hooked up to their diagnostic equipment. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Ram dealership. It has been in their possession for over six weeks in total across three separate service visits.
Drivers side visor plastic mount broke while attempting to adjust the visor while driving on the turnpike. Visor was impeding visibility and could not be removed due to the electrical components. Also could not pull over to remove because specialty torx screwdriver required and was well outside of any city or town. Had to extend the visor and prop it against the door as the only means to reduce the obstruction in order to get home. I was concerned that a sharp turn would dislodge it from its precarious perch. Online searches indicate this has been a common problem since the 2019 model and numerous companies make an aftermarket bracket to go over the OEM part to correct this well known and obvious defective part.
Safety put at risk. I noticed that the rear locking seatbelt on the driver side has never been connected to the bolt on the floor which was provided for the attachment. Factory oversight perhaps. What brought it to my attention was that it appeared to be "stretched" in appearance which looked peculiar. I proceeded to lift up the rear seat exposing the dangling locking side of the belt. It appeared that is was brand new, no bolt or washer scratches etc., indicating that it was never attached from the factory. The date below will be the date I noticed that it was not attached.
This is in regards to well known issue with the E-Torque MGU generator equipped on this vehicle. The internal bearing is failing causing a whining and grinding sound and results in a loss of electrical power that causes the vehicle to stall and not restart when the auto start/stop feature is engaged, which has happened to me once. I have had a dealer confirm this component failure and the vehicle is now unsafe to drive and is parked for an undetermined amount of time because the part is on national backorder per Stellantis.
Black screens, freezes, and reboots Backup camera not displaying These require a complete reset of the uconnect to get the screen and cameras back. Rear collision is immanent without cameras
Reporting dash board bubbling and glue failure causing cracking and bubbles on dash board, dealers are not working with customers on this failed component of the vehicle
We have had this truck since August 2025, the engine has stalled while driving numerous times since we have had it. This happens randomly and unexpectedly, the vehicle loses power and stalls, shifts itself back into park and engages the emergency break. It does not show any check engine lights for the dealership to replicate the issue. The engine will start back up after it stalls. We have always bought Ram trucks and never had this issue before. When speaking to many different mechanics they are relating this issue to the 2021 E-torque malfunction. (37A/NHTSA3A-265). The reliability of this truck causes severe safety concerns, as our truck stalled in the middle of a highway with my children in the vehicle this past weekend. The ongoing investigation should be expedited to prevent severe or even fatal accidents.
My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including: [Insert brief personal symptoms: e.g., black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc.] Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle starts sputtering/stalling out when sitting at stop signs or stoplights. It feels like the auto start/stop is trying to engage and disengage over and over again. This happens even with the auto start turned off, after turning the truck off and back on again it seems to go away for a while. This has happened at least a dozen times in the past 6 months or so.
I experienced a sudden loss of power steering at 75 miles per hour on the freeway. This created an immediate safety hazard. I am requesting manufacturer goodwill repair assistance and for the dealer to open a safety case
As I was driving in the left lane of a four lane local road. I passed over a small hump in the road. The suspension lifted and as it settled. I lost control of the steering and the truck abruptly pulled left. I managed to gain control and guide the truck from collision with another vehicle and the bridge guard rail. I had no warning lights and the truck drove straight at the time. Tire wear was normal and I had an appointment in three days for new ties and alignment since I did hear a clunk a few days earlier.
Vehicle deployed EBS system while coming to stop, automatically shifted to park and the engine shut off. When trying to restart the vehicle, the battery indicated a very low charge (11.1V) and not charging from the alternator. The battery is 3 months old and confirmed that the battery cells were good by an automotive shop. Has happened approximately 8 times in the past year. No codes or check engine lights are displayed.
I have been in for the recall about stalling engine. After doing the recall the problem still remains. My engine has stall 3 different times after said recall. Also seeing online there has been many people complaining about the same problem. Dodge should look into the problem with a different recall out there. This is dangerous.
Truck just shutdown while driving. No warnings. Pulled over to side of road with the momentum, stopped and restarted.
The power steering goes out while driving almost causing a crash
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. While stopped at a red light, the contact attempted to make a left turn, and the vehicle suddenly stalled and came to a complete stop. The contact stated that the parking brake automatically engaged, and the transmission shifted into park(P). During the failure, the "Service Auto STOP/START System" warning light illuminated and remained illuminated until the vehicle was restarted. The dealer was notified, and a service appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Vehicle collided into another and airbags did not deploy on the Ram 1500.
symptoms: 1. P0A7D hybrid battery failure. 2. Heat from the eTorque motor after 1min run time. 3. Unstable voltage. 4. 12‑volt drain (replaced battery last year June 2025) 5. Risk of sudden loss of assist. 6. Auto‑park behavior. 7. Unpredictable drivability. I don't feel this is safe when I stop at a stop sign the truck applied auto-park and I could not move, had to press the auto-stop to get it out of the park brake and back in drive. So, I was only two blocks from home so went ahead and went back home, and it was running bad went I pulled up in my driveway. I have had the truck in to dealer for this code P0A7D and more codes last year in June and all they did was reset the check engine light and sent me on my way that was 731 miles ago. Now going back to dealer on 01/22/2026 to see if they will fix it this time. I feel with a hybrid battery failure is a risk with Fire and if the auto-park kicks in when driving on the highway could be very bad! I did know this truck had a auto-park?
Purchase Vehicle, Was told everything was top notch, I started noticing that the dash lights would be on as I approached my vehicle, Having never owned a vehicle with all the electrical. I didn't know if this was just a response of me approaching with key fob. I noticed one night they were still on. I notified the dealership on Jan.10 th. I have an appointment on Tuesday the 14 th. Jan.2026. I drove home the next County over. Nothing electrical works as of Jan 11, 2026. I believe. I ask upon purchase asked about prior problems.
The same issues related to NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE24018. Engine stall while stopped at a red light on, battery warning light on, vehicle voltage gauge extreme low, auto start light came on. It took several tries to get the truck started again. This has happened SEVERAL times since purchasing the vehicle in early 2022. Sometimes the check engine light comes on. Once it took several hours for the vehicle to restart.
On Friday, January 9, 2026, my Ram 1500 lost all power and would not re-start for approximately 15 minutes on Folsom-Auburn Road, in Folsom, a 50 mph speed limit road. After appox. During that time I blocked traffic in the left hand lane, unable to restart the truck. 15 minutes later (with a tow on the way) it started and has been running without issue since. I brought my truck to the local dealer, Folsom Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, on Wednesday, January 14. They tracked the problem to a failing electrical module below the rear window. It is corroding because the rear window started leaking. The total repair estimate was approx. $5000. My truck is a 2022, I bought it new in January, 2022 and it has 45,000 miles. In addition to the manufacturer's warranty I purchased Mopar's Max Care plan, with coverage for 85,000 miles and 8 years. In spite of this, Mopar denied the warranty claim. However, after speaking with the dealer's service manager and asking for good-will coverage, Mopar agreed to pay for 80% of the repair cost. The repair is now pending receipt of parts, which the dealer anticipates may take up to three weeks to collect. I am still driving the truck, as I rely on it for transportation.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on the highway, the power steering warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and waited for tow truck assistance. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the power steering module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The MGU on my Ram 1500 failed while driving down a main road in my town. A rattling noise started and the check engine light turned on and I called the dealership that same day to have it serviced. The dealership could not get me in for a few days so I did not drive the truck again until the day I could take it in. On my way to the dealership I got a half mile down the road from my house and all sorts of warning lights started flashing and the truck turned the emergency brake on itself as I was driving down the road. This put in a lot of danger because I was stuck and couldn’t get the car to start or even shift anymore and was stuck in the roadway. I had the truck towed to the dealership and they said this has been a common issue with the Ram Etorque engines, so the part is on back order and will take 7 months to get replacement. I feel if Ram knows this is a common issue for such a major component leading to such potential danger, they should recall this vehicle.
There is a known issue with the Ram infotainment Uconnect systems. The 2022 Ram 1500 frequently experiences infotainment issues involving its Uconnect 5 system, characterized by loud buzzing or popping noises, "screen bouncing" (glitchy movement or flickering), and spontaneous reboots. These symptoms often result from software bugs, a full memory cache, or, in some cases, hardware defects requiring a complete unit replacement. Some issues tied to this are Loss of Rearview Visibility, The radio software can prevent the backup camera image from displaying on the center screen when you shift into reverse. Driver Distraction from "Ghost Touching" and Loud Noise, Impairment of Integrated Safety Controls: In the 2022 Ram, the infotainment screen is often the only way to access or adjust certain safety-related features. Climate & Defrosting: If the screen is frozen or inoperable, drivers may be unable to activate the windshield defroster or adjust climate controls, which can lead to limited visibility in cold or humid conditions. There has been a recall notice for a similar issue with the camera systems not functioning properly and displaying on the infotainment screen however this is a completely separate issue that thousands are experiencing. The result is usually a replacement of the entire system costing upwards of 3000 dollars post warranty. These issues usually show up after the factory warranty. Mine is at 38,000 miles most are in that area.
