THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V529000 (STEERING) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE NOTICE MONTHS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
IN DECEMBER OF 2013, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD ON MY TRUCK. AS INSTRUCTED, I CONTACTED THE DEALER TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND WAS TOLD THAT I'LL BE CALLED IN TWO TO THREE WEEKS BUT I WAS NEVER CALLED. SINCE THEN, I'VE GONE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE LAST VISIT WAS ON JULY 2ND 2014, ON THIS VISIT I WAS TOLD THAT I'M NEXT IN LINE AND WILL BE CALLED WITHIN A WEEK, IT'S NOW TWO MONTHS SINCE THAT VISIT. MY UNDERSTANDING IS, THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND/OR CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
AFTER BEING NOTIFIED IN DECEMBER ABOUT RECALL N49 / NHTSA 13V-529, I HAVE REQUESTED THE REPAIR AT TWO DIFFERENT RAM SERVICE CENTERS IN MY AREA. IN THE MONTHS THAT HAVE FOLLOWED I HAVE CONTINUALLY HEARD THAT THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE, AND THAT AT BEST THE DEALERSHIP MAY RECEIVE 'TWO REPLACEMENT PARTS A WEEK', REPEATEDLY BEING TOLD I AM 'NEAR THE BOTTOM OF LIST.' IT IS WITH IRONY THAT WHEN I CHECK THE RECALL STATUS ON THE MOPAR OWNERS WEBSITE THAT IT INDICATES THE RECALL AS INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. RAM DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER. *TR

RECALL NOTICE : N49/NHTSA 13V-529 LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD MAY FRACTURE . MAY CAUSE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND/OR CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN GETTING THIS RECALL CORRECTED BY THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE PROBLEM IS : THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE PART NEEDED FROM CHRYSLER. I CALLED ON 1/2/2014 AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ORDERED. 1/24/2014 I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY 3 PARTS WERE ALLOWED TO BE SHIPPED FROM CHRYSLER TO THE DEALER EVERY 7 DAYS. 3/1/2014: DEALER STILL STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THE NEEDED PARTS. I RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL N49/NHTSA 13V-529 IN MID DEC 2013 REGARDING THE LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPT. WITH MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T RECEIVING THE REPLACEMENT PART. I KEEP CHECKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY AREN'T RECEIVING THE PARTS. SO HERE IT IS, 4/28/14 AND I HAVE YET TO HAVE THE TIE ROD ON MY TRUCK REPLACED. HORSE SHOW SEASON BEGINS IN MAY AND I CERTAINLY CAN'T TAKE ANY CHANCES TOWING MY HORSE TRAILER WITH THIS ISSUE UNRESOLVED. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION - THIS IS THE FIRST DODGE TRUCK I'VE PURCHASED AND IF THIS IS HOW CHRYSLER DODGE HANDLES RECALLS, IT WILL MAKE ME THINK TWICE BEFORE I CONSIDER PURCHASING ANOTHER DODGE TRUCK. IF YOUR COMPANY ISSUES RECALLS, IT NEEDS TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT PARTS TO DEALERSHIPS IN A TIMELY FASHION. WAITING 4 MONTHS, AND STILL NOT HAVING ANY IDEA OF WHEN MY TRUCK WILL BE SERVICED, IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHILE ROUNDING A LEFT HAND CURVE, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKED HARD TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPIN AND WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT AND INTO A DRY CREEKBED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. ON INSPECTION THE FRONT LEFT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN. MYSELF AND MY 14 YR SON SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. WE LATER RECEIVED NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER ON 12/24/2013 OF THE RECALL OF OUR VEHICLE FOR SAME FAILURE OF TIE ROD ASSEMBLY. *TR

WHILE IN REVERSE AND TURNING LEFT, THE LEFT TIE ROD END SNAPPED AT THE BALL JOINT. IT APPEARS TO BE A GEOMETRY PROBLEM, NOT ALL ABOUT A FAULTY PART. CHRYSLER STATED THE PART HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED DURING RECALL L16, BUT IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE PART ONCE UNDER THE RECALL. *TR
WHILE LEAVING CHURCH IN PARKING LOT TURNING LEFT BACKING UP HEARD LOUD CLUNK TRIED TO GO FORWARD TRUCK DID NOT WANT TO MOVE. GOT OUT AND LOOKED AND SAW TIE ROD HAD BROKEN. VEHICLE WAS IN DEALERSHIP MARCH 12 FOR TIE ROD RECALL 12600 MILES THEY SAID NO PROBLEMS WITH TIE ROD AND DID NOTHING WITH IT. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM TIE RODS DO NOT WEAR OUT IN 27000 EASY MILES. *TR

TOLD PARTS WOULD TAKE 3 TO 4 WEEKS. WAITED. CONTACTED DEALER MID FEB,2014. TOLD CHRYSLER ONLY RELEASING ONE PART PER WEEK.AM #10 ON LIST, WAITED. CONTACTED DEALER MARCH 11,2014. TOLD A PROBLEM WITH THE NEW PART, STOPPED SHIPPING, NEWER PARTS TO START SHIPPING END OF APRIL 2014. BY END OF APRIL WILL BE 5 MONTHS. DUE TO RISK OF TIE ROD FAILURE, DO NOT FEEL SAFE ON THE ROADS. THIS IS NOT WHAT I CONSIDER A TIMELY REMEDY TO THE SAFETY OF MYSELF OR TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON I-10 GOING WEST BY BLTHE, CA I WENT OVER A BRIDGE AND RAN OVER THE JOINT BETWEEN THE BRIDGE AND THE ROAD THE TRUCK WENT INTO A SPEED WOBBLE IT DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I GOT ON THE BRAKES HARD DOWN TO 40 MPH I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES MORE ALWAYS AT BRIDGES OR ROUGH SPOTS ON THE ROAD. *TR

LEFT TIE ROD BROKE WHILE REVERSING. NEW TIE ROD REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP. THIS DESPITE RECALL PREVIOUSLY BEING PERFORMED AND ORIGINAL TIE ROD FOUND TO BE "WITHIN SPECS." *TR
WHILE BACKING A TRAILER INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THE DRIVERS SIDE TIE ROD BROKE OFF. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT MY TRUCK WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE L16 SAFETY RECALL. STRANGE THAT MY TRUCKS VIN DOES NOT FIT INTO THE RECALL BUT IT BROKE JUST LIKE THE TRUCKS THAT ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL HAVE BROKEN. I HAVE THE BROKEN TIE ROD IF YOU WANT IT. *TR

WHILE BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE TIE ROD BROKE CAUSING BOTH FRONT TIRES TO TILT INWARD. I HAPPENED TO BE AT A DEALER'S LOT AND HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT THIS LOCATION. UPON CONTACTING MY DODGE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED OF THE RECALL AND THEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHERE I WAS TOLD - ON THREE SEPARATE CALLS - THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I'VE SINCE FOUND A PUBLISHED NOTICE BY CHRYSLER, STATING MY EXACT MAKE & MODEL AND THE EXACT TIE ROD BREAKAGE AS BEING PART OF A RECALL. CHRYSLER HAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT OF MY REPAIR APPROXIMATELY $600 ON A $50,000 TRUCK WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES. VEHICLE WENT INTO THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE" WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH AS THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO CONTROL. WE WERE NORTH OF AMARILLO TX WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. IT DID IT AT LEAST 11 MORE TIMES AS WE DROVE TO OKLAHOMA CITY. WE KEPT DRIVING SLOWER AND SLOWER AS THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE" WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL WE GOT THE SPEED DOWN TO 30 MPH. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 3 TIMES ON 8/12/13 AS I DROVE FROM JONES, OK TO THE DEALER IN GUTHRIE OK. I DO HAVE VIDEO'S OF THE LAST 2 "DODGE DEATH WOBBLES". THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THEY FIXED THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING IN ONE BOLT THAT WAS MISSING. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I'D RATHER NOT EVER GET IT BACK, BUT IF I DO, I FEEL ALL THE PARTS IN THE FRONT END SHOULD BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE TRAUMA ALL THE PARTS WENT THROUGH DURING AT LEAST 15 EVENTS OF THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE". YOU'D HAVE TO BE IN THE VEHICLE TO REALIZE HOW VIOLENT THE SHAKING IS WHEN IT DOES THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE". *TR
DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD END SNAPPED IN A TURN ON A CURVY COUNTRY ROAD. *TR
GOING INTO A CURVE FRONT END OF VEHICLE SHAKES AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING. DEALER CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. DOES NOT DO IT CONSISTENTLY BUT HAVE HEARD OTHER RAM OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN MY RAM DOES THIS YOU HAVE TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOOSING CONTROL. AT SOME POINT THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
THE TRUCK EXPERIENCED THE DODGE DEATH WOBBLE AND I HAVE SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT WORKING TO CORRECT AN ISSUE WITH THEIR PRODUCT THAT HAS BEEN KNOW ABOUT SINCE 1994 AND HAS HAD MANY RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT OR KILLED FROM THE VEHICLE LOSING CONTROL AND CAUSE TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ONLY WORKS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 90 DEGREES AND THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON THE INTERIOR CAB WILL NOT COOL DOWN. IT IS NOT UNTIL YOU START TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING STARTS TO COOL AND WILL KEEP COOL UNLESS YOU STAY STATIONARY FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER INSPECT THE A/C UNIT MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THEY FIND NO PROBLEM. WHEN A BASIC INTERNET SEARCH IS PERFORMED I FIND MULTIPLE SOURCES INDICATING A DEFECTIVE FAN CLUTCH AND ONCE REPLACED THIS PROBLEM GOES AWAY. NORMALLY I WOULDN'T CARE BUT SINCE HAVING A 9 MONTH OLD WHILE LIVING IN OKLAHOMA ITS BECOME MORE OF A NECESSITY DURING THESE EXTREME SUMMER TEMPERATURES. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V529000 (STEERING), BUT THE REMEDY DID NOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENSIVE WOBBLE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME WHERE IT WAS INDICATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT TIE RODS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN OVER 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO WOBBLE IN THE FRONT, WHICH WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE EACH TIME AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION TO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR 74 MILES, AT HIGHWAY SPEED. SUDDENLY THE STEERING AND OR FRONT WHEELS AND AXLE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. SHAKING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE OUT OF CONTROL AND INTO THE MEDIAN.THE VIOLENT WOBBLE AND OR SHAKING WAS SO SEVERE IT BLEW THE STEERING HOSE OFF CAUSING THE LOSE OF FLUID , STEERING AND BRAKING. HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING, THERE WAS NO WAY SHE COULD HAVE HELD IT TOGETHER. THANKFULLY I GOT IT STOPPED WITHOUT A ROLLOVER OR INVOLVING ANOTHER VEHICLE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BY THIS POORLY ENGINEERED FRONT END. I'VE LEARNED SENSE THEN MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. TRUCK SUDDENLY STARTED BOUNCING ALL OVER THE ROAD. FELT AS THOUGH ALL FOUR TIRES HAD SUDDENLY GONE FLAT. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND WENT INTO ONCOMING LANE SIDEWAYS. INSPECTION DID NOT SHOW ANY FAILED COMPONENT (TIRE, STEERING SYSTEM, ETC). CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR A DAY, THEN WENT OFF. LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, WITH NO INDICATION OF PROBLEM. LOSS OF CONTROL HAS HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES SINCE FIRST OCCURRENCE. SIMILAR SPEEDS DURING EACH EVENT, WITH TWO DIFFERENT OPERATORS. SERIOUS DIFFICULTY RETAINING CONTROL TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND ROLL OVER/CRASH CONCERNS PRECLUDE ATTEMPTING TO DUPLICATE EVENT. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE TO DATE. I WILL NEVER TRUST THE ONCOMING DODGE TRUCK UNTIL THIS IS ADDRESSED. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE. IT IS SAD. *TR

PLEASE TELL ME WHY IT IS TAKING SO LONG TO GET A PART IN A SHOP FOR A RECALL? I CONTACTED 3 DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ALL STATE THAT THEY ARE ONLY GETTING 2 PARTS A WEEK FOR A RECALL. I HAVE WAITED OVER 6 MONTHS TO BE CALLED FOR A REPLACEMENT. I AM ON A WAITING LIST AND EACH TIME I FOLLOW UP I GET TOLD THE SAME THING. SORRY WE DON'T HAVE THAT PART. IF THIS IS A RECALL THEN DODGE SHOULD HAVE THESE IN ADEQUATE SUPPLY IF THEY ARE GOING TO ISSUE OUT LETTERS TO OWNERS ASKING THEM TO DO THEIR PART TO MAKE THE VEHICLE SAFE. WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON HWY101 AT APPROX 70MPH I DROVE OVER AN EXPANSION JOINT WHEN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE TO THE POINT OF ALMOST LOSING CONTROL. I WAS FORCED TO BRAKE TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE NUMBER ONE LANE/SHOULDER AND THOUGH THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED IT DIDN'T SEEM EFFECTIVE DUE TO THE VIOLENT SHAKING (I BELIEVE THE FRONT WHEELS WHERE ACTUALLY LEAVING THE GROUND). I WAS ABLE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN A GENERALLY STRAIGHT DIRECTION BUT DID NOT HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL. ONCE I CAME TO A STOP THE VIOLENT SHAKING STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE NORMALLY. THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT OF A SIMILAR OCCURRENCE. I HAD THE ALIGNMENT AND STEERING COMPONENTS CHECKED AND ALL SEEMED TO BE WITHIN STANDARD TOLERANCES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE RACK AND PINION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. *TR
