2012 DODGE RAM 2500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TIE ROD RECALL NOTICE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE. BUT, WHEN HE ARRIVED HE DISCOVERED IT WAS PURELY A DETERMINATION CHECK AND HIS VEHICLE, IN FACT DID NOT NEED TO HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART INSTALLED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED THE CONSUMER TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN 3 WEEKS WHEN THE PART ARRIVED. THE CONSUMER NUMEROUS TIMES, ONLY TO BE TOLD THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE FOR A "LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD ON YOUR TRUCK MAY FRACTURE UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS". IT WENT ON TO SAY THAT IF IT BROKE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE A CRASH WOULD MOST LIKELY OCCUR. I CALLED BOTH DODGE DEALERS IN COLORADO SPRINGS, CO AND TRIED TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS FOR MY TRUCK. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE WE HAVE. I WAS TOLD BY BOTH COLORADO SPRINGS DODGE AND PERKINS MOTOR CITY DODGE THE CHRYSLER IS ONLY SENDING ONE PART PER WEEK PER DEALERSHIP!!! THERE ARE OVER 350 PEOPLE ON THE LIST AT COLORADO SPRINGS DODGE AND 58 AT PERKINS DODGE. IF CHRYSLER IS ONLY SENDING ONE PART PER WEEK, IT COULD BE WOULD BE OVER A YEAR FROM NOW BEFORE MY VEHICLE IS REPAIRED! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! *TR

THE CONTACT FELT THAT SINCE THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A REMEDY AVAILABLE BEFORE FEBRUARY OF 2014. RECEIVED NOTICE OF SAFETY ISSUE WITH STEERING COMPONENTS AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE MORE THAN A YEAR TO WARRANTY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WE TOW WITH THIS TRUCK!!!! FURTHER MORE I TRIED TO CALL THE [XXX] # AND GOT NOTHING BUT A SALES PITCH AND WHEN ANSWERING NOT INTERESTED I WAS HUNG UP ON TWICE! WHY ARE GOVERNMENT LINES BEING USED FOR SALES PITCHES RATHER THAN SERVICE? BECAUSE OF THIS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THIS IS IN REF TO SAFETY RECALL N49 / NHTSA 13V-529. I RECEIVED A RECALL FORM DODGE AND TOOK MY TRUCK INTO MILLER'S DODGE IN MARTINSBURG WV. THE SERVICE DEPT. LOOKED AND SAID YOUR LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE CALLED TO CHECK ON THE PART STATUS 3 TIMES. IT HAS BEEN 5 MONTHS AND EVERYTIME I PUT MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK THEY ARE AT RISK. I AM TOLD THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE FROM DODGE WHICH PROMPTED ME TO LOG THIS. *TR
I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT, BUT THERE IS SERIOUS POTENTIAL FOR ONE. REGARDING CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL N49 / NHTSA 13V-529: THIS IS A RECALL FOR A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT CAN AFFECT THE VEHICLE'S STEERING. TWO DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN ONLY ORDER A FEW PARTS EACH WEEK. HERE IN SUSANVILLE, CA, THERE ARE AT LEAST 37 TRUCKS ON THE REPAIR LIST, AND CHRYSLER CAN ONLY DELIVER 1 PART PER WEEK! THE LAST PERSON ON THAT LIST HAS TO WAIT 9 MONTHS TO GET HIS TRUCK FIXED. IN THE MEANTIME, WE ALL HAVE TO DRIVE ON MOUNTAIN ROADS AND RISK LOSING OUR STEERING. THIS IS ATROCIOUS. *TR

SHORTLY AFTER PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY 290 HEADING WEST THE TRUCK MADE A SHARP RIGHT. THE TRUCK COULD NOT BE STEERED OR CONTROLLED. OBSERVATION UNDER THE FRONT END REVEALED THE LEFT FRONT TIE ROD WAS BROKEN. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS STRAIGHT AND THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS POINTED 90 DEGREES TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE RAM 2500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE LEFT SIDE TIE ROD END SNAPPED AND CAUSED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO COLLAPSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AHEAD WAS COMING TO A STOP BECAUSE OF A TRUCK MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO STAY AT THE SAME SPEED.I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT 1,800 RPM.I THEN PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED AND IT STARTED TO DOWNSHIFT THE TRANSMISSION VERY HARD. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES AS I DROVE HOME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING AND HAD IT SERVICED FOR A RECALL AND THE PROBLEM OF A STUCK THROTTLE WHICH I THOUGHT TO BE THE PROBLEM.I WAS CALLED BACK TO PICK UP THE TRUCK ON 1/10/2014 AND IMMEDIATELY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM LATER THAT DAY. I TOOK THE TRICK BACK TO THE DEALER ON 1/13/2014 AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE AN ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM ONLY THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT. THIS CONCERNS ME VERY MUCH AS THIS CONDITION COULD AND WILL IN THE FUTURE CAUSE AN ACCIDENT,INJURY OR DEATH SHOULD IT OCCUR AGAIN. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2014 FOR A RECALL AND MANDATORY REPLACEMENT OF THE LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD. I CALL MY DEALER RIGHT AWAY BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PARTS. I RECENTLY WENT IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY CHECK MY TRUCK AND SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED OK BUT IT DOES NEED TO BE REPLACED SINCE IN IS ON THE MANDATORY LIST. THERE ARE 186 PEOPLE ON THAT LIST AND THEY ONLY GET A REPLACEMENT PART AFTER THEY INSTALL ONE. THE AVERAGE TURN AROUND TIME FOR PARTS IS 4 DAYS. THAT MEANS THAT SOME PEOPLE WILL HAVE TOO WAIT UP TO 2 YEARS BEFORE THERE TRUCK GETS REPAIRED. I THINK THIS IS A LITTLE RIDICULOUS. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND DO A LOT OF TRAVEL IN VERY RURAL AREAS. IF I BREAK DOWN I MIGHT BE STUCK FOR DAYS TO GET OUT AND SAME FOR A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT LIVE UP HERE. *TR

CHRYSLER ISSUED RECALL #N49/NHTSA 13V-529 ON JAN. 6, 2014 FOR A DEFECTIVE LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD THAT MAY CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. I CONTACTED MY DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE PART WHICH WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME. AFTER CHECKING WITH THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE JAN. 6, I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED THE REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER WOULD ONLY SEND ONE PART PER WEEK PER DEALER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. CHRYSLER HAS NOT OFFERED ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION WHILE ONE IS WAITING FORCING ONE TO EITHER PARK THEIR VEHICLE UNTIL THE PART ARRIVES OR BE FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT MAY LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING AT ANY TIME CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY TO THE OPERATOR OR OTHERS . I KEEP RECEIVING AN "IMPORTANT RECALL NOTICE" FOR THE LEFT TIE ROD FROM CHRYSLER BUT THEY WILL NOT MAKE ENOUGH PARTS TO GET IT FIXED. THERE LAST LINE ON THE NOTICE IS " WE'RE SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE, BUT ARE SINCERELY CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR SAFETY". IF THEY REALLY CARED ABOUT MY SAFETY THEY WOULD MAKE A LOT MORE PARTS TO FIX MY TRUCK AND THE OTHER 100 OR SO THAT ARE WAITING IN NORTHWEST MONTANA. *TR

I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE REPAIR. THIS IS BEGINNING TO CONCERN ME THAT THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR ME OR MY FAMILIES SAFETY. *TR

IN DEC. OF 2013 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE #R49 FROM CHRYSLER CONCERNING THE LEFT TIE ROD ON MY 2012 DODGE TRUCK. ON THE 2ND OF JAN. 2014 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN FOLSOM CALIF. FOR AN APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED. AS OF THIS WRITING (7 MAY 2014) THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND I AM # 50 ON THE DEALERS LIST FOR REPAIRS. I'VE CALLED THE DEALER 6 TIMES, MFG. 3 TIMES, AND THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION AND HAVE HAD NO SATISFACTION IN GETTING A RESOLUTION. IT WILL BE A COLD DAY BEFORE I PURCHASE ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES ENGAGE. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE RPMS WERE EXCESSIVELY HIGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE WAS DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.
