ABS/traction control warning lights and alarm intermittently on and off during driving, speed control does not work during the alarm cycle. ABS not working when warning comes on
ABS failure light keeps popping on due to the recall. I have yet to get this resolved. The dealership wanted to charge $1200 and not fix the issue A DAY after purchasing. I have been dealing with this over a year. It is dangerous. I had to replace the entire transmission which cost $6,000 because the light will come on and stay on and send incorrect information to the computer system. The truck is not performing as it should due to this, and the traction loss is dangerous when braking suddenly.
Getting the same check engine warnings that many others are getting. Class action law suit going on in California.Ram says not covered by warranty
ABS hydraulic pump failure, confirmed by Ram dealer. ABS light coming on and off affecting cruise control. Warning on dash says service ABS system. Truck only has 14350 miles No brake failures as of yet
Intermittent ABS and Traction control warning lights. Had repair shop look at it and they recommend replacing ABS and HCM modules. Truck is a 2018 Ram 2500 with only 40 000 miles and is no longer under warranty. I can't afford to replace part please help.
had to replace the abs pump since warning light would fluctuate on/off. It would randomly go on/off for no apparently reason. Mechanic indicated it was a valve that would not operate properly. Worried that I would loss brakes given the warning.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an audible alarm activated and the messages "Service Electronic Braking System", "Service ABS" and "Traction Control Loss" were displayed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the contact that the failure was possibly caused by a faulty HCU and ABS modules. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA Action Number: PE22012 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The service electronic brake control and ABS light keeps flashing and the warning bell keeps going off every time I drive it, It only has 22k miles on the truck. There should be a recall for this as thousands of 2017 - 2018 ram trucks have this problem. Plus its dangerous driving like that.
My service ABS brake like comes on and off intermittently. When it does I can't use cruise control. We are on vacation and have called to RAM dealers and none has time to look at the truck. I looked on the internet and found that there are literally thousands of people complaining about this. Apparentluy RAM recalled the 2019's for this issue, but nothing before. This is not the first issue that we've had with the ABS brakes on this truck. It has me concerned since I pull and 8000-lb travel trialer.
My abs system is not working the ETC is not working was told this is because of the abs pump and abs computer. Most safety components related to brakes not working. There are over a thousand complaints to Chrysler about these trucks and still no recall. Please help.
Service electronic braking system / ABS service antilock brake system. Both these lights come on and ding, half a second later they are off. This happens non stop, looks like everyone is having this problem. This should be a recall not a $1200 fix. I only have 58,252 miles on my truck. This problem for me has been going on and off for 2 months.
The first time this happen was 7/21/2021 at 10761 miles it was the ABS hydraulic control unit/pump motor this was fixed and was under warranty. Now it has happened again had scanner check to tell me what was wrong 5/10/2024 it showed ABS hydraulic control unit/pump motor has failed once again at less than 3yrs. with milage 25027 and out of warranty. This is a big safety issue that needs to be recalled if this is going to be an ongoing thing. You cannot get it to stop like it is suppose to I almost wrecked it the first time and i`m starting to get scared of it all warning lamps and messages came up. this time it first appeared 5/1/2024. It has been confirmed by dealer 5/10/2024. This is an expensive fix and if this is be an ongoing thing then it should be Recalled before somebody gets hurt or killed, I cannot imagine going down a highway at 70 mph and it locks up. Please help with this issue
For the second time since the vehicle's purchase in 2019, the Antilock Braking System is flashing an intermittent error stating that the Antilock Braking System needs to be serviced. When the system flashes the error, the antilock brakes, cruise control, and stability control become disabled. The error sometimes will clear itself, and then immediately return a minute or two later. Three years ago I had this same issue repaired once before under the vehicle warranty. At that time, I was told the Hydraulic Control Unit for the ABS system had failed. Now, without warning or reason the system is failing once again and RAM refuses to replace this defective part. Through an online investigation, I have discovered that thousands of Ram owners are experiencing the same defective part and circumstances. Without proper functioning brakes, antilocking brakes and stability control, the vehicle cannot be driven without great risk to the vehicle's operator and occupants, and additionally other motorists.
1. My truck is randomly throwing a C0020-01 code. 2. When the code is active the traction control and cruise control are disabled abruptly causing a safety concern. 3. Using scan tool I have verified that this code is active. Have contacted Mopar and they suggested replacing the ABS module and /or the HPU for the ABS. 4. No, only self diagnostics. 5. Fist happened on or around May 1st, 2024. Warning message on the heads up displays "C0020-01 Active, ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL-GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE".
Wanted to report that my 2018 Ram 2(00 is experiencing the same abs/hcu issue that appears to be plaguing this year/model of Ram. I understand that tgis issue is still currently under investigation. Started with Beeping and traction control abs lights would come on and off intermittently. Now pretty much constantly on, unable to is cruise control.
The ABS and Electronic braking system has failed in this vehicle. While driving the vehicle, the ABS light will cycle on and off consistently. When the light is activated, the cruise control also becomes ineffective. It has been determined to be the ABS Module failing. This truck only has 100,000 miles on it. When I contacted multiple dealerships, they informed me that they cannot order a replacement part as they do not exist from the manufacture anymore. There are no aftermarket options. After contacting Fiat Chrysler Association (FCA) they informed me the parts were pulled from dealerships and they are under engineering review for replacements with no timeline available. This is a 10,000 lbs vehicle with a 16,000lb tow rating. It is unacceptable for this to continue failing on a truck that when combined with a trailer can be totaling 26,000lbs. If this system fails while towing, the result will be deadly to anyone involved. I've spoken with hundreds of others with this same failure on the same truck. It is unacceptable that we cannot drive our trucks safely, we cannot fix them because parts don't exist, and we cannot sell them because they are undriveable and unfixable.
Got an ABS fault for a corrupt hydraulic brake unit. So I replaced the unit at the cost of $200.. once replaced I still had an ABS light, traction control light, Brake light. Reading the codes it would tell me that both rear wheel speed sensors failed to compare. Ultimately I got a check engine light for wheel speed sensor 1 failure. So when I rest the code it clears the lights and I lose the speedometer for 25 plus miles. Also renders the 4x4 feature useless on the truck. I took it to the dealership on 8/8/2024 and they attempted to do an update to the ABS module. After the update I lost the speedometer again. I was told that the ABS module will need replaced at the cost of $600 plus labor and program time.
Abs module failure causing cruise control shutdowns and potentially causing an accident as well as transmission issues. Yes it’s been confirmed by an independent shop . Not by any others. No warning before just straight failure. Vehicle is available currently for inspection if wanted
The contact owns 2018 RAM 2500. The contact received notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH in inclement weather, while making a right turn, the brake pedal pulsated, and the vehicle did not slow down as intended, and the entire vehicle slid off the road into the mud and became stuck. The contact did not sustain any injuries, and medical attention was not needed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic vacuum boost needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 10 months later. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
The ABS and Traction Control lights come on and off intermittently. It’s a known issue that can cause complete loss of breaks. It’s linked to the 2017 and 2018 Ram trucks and is all over the internet as being a problem. It’s a safety issue and needs to be taken care of immediately before someone dies or kills someone else because of an issue Dodge Ram has known about since 17-18.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed during inclement weather, the vehicle briefly failed to maintain traction. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed failures with the ABS pump and the ABS control module. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact associated the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22012 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
Code C0020-01 appears and ABS service light appears - the vehicle is equipped with a defective and dangerous hydraulic control unit (HCU) module and anti-lock braking system (ABS) module. Anti-lock braking, traction control and speed (cruise) control are inoperable. Causing a safety concern
Had a deer run out in front of me on the road. When i hit the brakes the truck didn't stop as fast and pulled to the rt really hard making me go into the ditch. The service abs light is constantly goin on and off before that and is still doin the same now. Scan tool says abs hcu module. I have my son driving this truck at times as well and it is not safe. There are thousands of the same trucks with the same issues i found out now. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
The contact’s husband owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds on several occasions, the vehicle started shaking and lost motive power. The contact stated that the message "Transmission Hot" was displayed and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,790.
service ABS system/Service electronic brake system alert keeps coming on and off. This is a known problem with 2018 HD ram 2500. Dodge refuses to issue a recall for this, and parts are not available from the manufacturer to fix it. Doesn't matter what speed you are going, how bumpy the road is.
ABS. Code c0020-01 abs pump motor failure
The ABS pump motor control circuit has an electrical failure. The truck's safety is at risk of incident without the help of the ABS system. The problem is persistent as the ABS warning lamp and Service Electronic Brake System message pops up every time the brake is applied. The dealership recommends the part be replaced.
ABS light and “Service ABS system” message pops up intermittently.
The contact owns a 2018 RAM 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. In addition, due to the failure, the cruise control option was disabled. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Currently I own a 2018 RAM 2500. I am the original owner and do regular Maintenace on my truck. The ABS & Traction control light flashes on and off consistently (Very annoying while driving). I have brought my truck to the mechanic and told me I have to wait on a part that is on "National Back Order".... No dealership has the part, and no website has the part. Only place to be found is on eBay used with no warranty they work, or proof they have been refurbished. From what I have been told it is the EBCM. I did research to try and find the part. No where has it, and nowhere to be found. This is where I found out it is a frequent problem over a lot of people. I see RAM has a recall for the same issue with 2019 & newer, but no recalls on the 2013–2018-year model trucks. This truck is my everyday driver, and I need it fixed....
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the ABS software update needed to be performed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 30,000.
Had this issue before keep getting service electronic braking system and service abs system messages. Like I said I had this very issue about a year or two ago it was repaired by ram but was covered under warranty. Fast forward a year or two having same issue again maybe 10,000 miles later.
Issue with the Hydraulic Control Unit. It requires replacing.
Hitting bump or random moments (intermittent). The ABS module comes up with code C0020-01 for ABS Pump Module General Electrical Fault. Truck loses ABS, Traction Control, as well as Cruise Control. Vehicles Odo is 7284 miles.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that prior to owning the vehicle, the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The remedy for the recall called for the dealer to check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly, or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve. The contact recently took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a wheel alignment and was informed that the alignment could not be performed due to the welding of the drag link. The contact was informed that the drag link would have to be cut to perform the wheel alignment. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was recommended that the drag link be replaced; however, the manufacturer refused to cover the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
ABS / Traction control code lights up randomly. Service tech inspected brake system and said there have been numerous issues with 2017-2018 Ram 2500 ABS systems due to defective ABS HCU and Control Module.
Abs comes and goes most of the time it doesn’t work had the issue for over a year when it’s not working no cruise control. I had rydell deal ship look at it and said it’s either the module or the pump.
Within the first 20k miles of owning this truck the check electronic power steering came on and the abs module was replaced. Now at 60k miles it's happening again from some basic research it seems that 2018 rams all suffer from this faulty part and even when it's replaced it still didn't last and the part it now backordered. ABS is a major part of the safety of a truck even more so when it's a heavy 2500. Ram needs to step up and take care of its customers and replace these units in a recall.
ABS light and chime is intermittently coming on and off. while the light is on the cruise control does not work. Every time the light comes on the chime sounds. the system light will go on and off sometimes at an extremely annoying rate.
ABS light keeps going on and off. Had it repaired/replaced once under warranty, no longer under warranty. Nearly skid off the road on a rainy day when someone braked hard in front of me. This ABS issue is very dangerous. In my opinion, I shouldn't have to keep paying to repair this since it constantly fails.
Have 47000 miles on truck and abs light kicks on and off. When it was checked code was abs general electrical failure.
WE PAID ABOUT $70,000 FOR OUR 2500 RAM TRUCK. AS WE WERE DRIVING THE FREEWAY OUR ABS WARNING WENT OFF SHUTTING THE CRUISE CONTROL…THIS GOT TO WHERE IT HAPPENED QUITE OFTEN.. AT THE TIME THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON IT SO WE PAID A TOTAL OF $2,030. WE HAD ADDED A FUEL FILTER CHANGE WHILE WE HAD THE VEHICLE THERE. ONCE WE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER WE FILED FOR A REFUND. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REFUND $1656.00 . WHEN I WROTE BACK..’’ MAY I ASK WHY I AM NOT GETTING A FULL REFUND?’’ I RECEIVED A VERY RUDE EMAIL THAT THE PAYMENT WAS FINAL WITH NO OTHER EXPLANATION!! I CALLED TWICE TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED TO NO PREVAIL. I TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO PAY FOR THE FUEL FILTER BUT THAT STILL LEFT $250. BECAUSE OF MY HUSBAND BEING A DISABLED VETERAN WE RECEIVED A DISCOUNT AND PAID NO TAXES WHICH SAVED FCA MONEY!!! I WANT THE $250 THAT IS OWED TO US.
Abs turns off and on by itself due to faulty abs system causing the truck to lose all abs and traction control features
Started experiencing the ABS and Traction Control lights coming on, sometimes momentarily and very intermittently, sometimes (but less frequently) coming on for long periods of time. The frequency of these events has been increasing. A scan of the vehicle indicates I am receiving these this code... C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control - General Electrical Failure This seems to be a very common complaint on my truck's make, model, and year. The result is I lose cruise control functionality, four-wheel drive, and seemingly the use of anti-lock breaks and traction control. It is very irritating as the warning lights and alarms often go on-off many times a minute, often going on for hours.
Abs and traction control light come on. Then off. Some days every 5 minutes. Some days once a day. Alarms sound. ABS and cruise control won’t work. Dealer reported over 10k truck have issue. Parts are on backorder for 6 months. I was told july 2024 for part. There should be a recall. So many trucks with same problem.
Getting the Service Electronic Brake System, Traction Control, and Anti-lock Brake System. First noticed these alarms a couple years ago but they cleared by themselves. Sometime this 2024 Spring, around 70k miles these alarms started again. This time the alarms are nuisance going on and off multiple time a minute all by itself. Cruise control won’t work when alarms are on. When I checked forums, seems like there is a problem with these modules. The supply of the parts is a problem also. I ordered the parts from Mopar and after I paid for the parts and received an order number. The next day Mopar cancelled my order tell me to go to the dealer. Seems like Mopar is monopolizing these parts.
ABS light and traction control light illuminated on dash. Service both comes up on info screen. Wheels will skid when braking in wet weather, rain, snow and or ice. Will lose traction when departing from a stop in wet weather, or starting from a stop on a hill. Safety of myself and any or all occupants (wife, grandkids, friends) including other vehicles and their occupants around me whenever this truck is operated. Problem has been reproduced warning lights have been on constantly for over one year and are on still today. Refuse to take it to the dealer due to the fact I have to pay for diagnostics on a safety issue they refuse to recognize as a problem, and then they want to charge me over 1K to fix with no guarantee of solving the problem. Warning lamps are on chimes from dash Lights came on 8/1/2023 and remain on to this day.
service electronic braking system, and ABS message goes on and off while driving.
ABS FAILURE, CONSISTANT "SERVICE ELECTRONIC ABS SYSTEM" WARNING FLASHING, VERY RANDOM, OFTEM TIMES GOING OFF FOR HOURS DURING LONG ROD TRIPS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE ABS SYSTEM SEEMED TO MALFUNCTION WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND THEN THE WARNINGS SOUND. VERY SIMILAIR TO THE PREPORTED ISSUES WITH THE ABS MODULE/HCU ISSUES.
The ABS and anti skid lights on the dash come on and off sporadically. The pump and module have been replaced. The problem did not occur for awhile. Now it has started over again. It seems harder to brake since the problem has started.
