The abs and traction control light come on. Failure in the abs module
The ABS light continuously comes on and off, especially when hitting a bump or going down a gravel road. Traction control light and ABS light will come on and off which ultimately causes a lack of control when roads are icy or wet. It's especially dangerous while in tow.
ABS control unit failure
Warning light to service the Electronic Braking System came on. Has been intermittent since. Contacted dealer and the HCU needs replacing. Vehicle is under mfg extended warranty. They claim part not covered. There are hundreds of complaints about this along with a class action lawsuit filed last year in CA. Brakes may fail without repair. 4WD will not engage since warning light came on. Lawsuit alleges Chrysler knew of this defect before selling. I have scheduled a replacement of the unit for 3/1/2024
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while towing a trailer at 55 MPH, the turbo actuator failed to operate with the check engine warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact discovered Technical Service Bulletin: 09-005-22 which linked the failure to the turbo actuator kit. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer to have a diagnostic test performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
when hauling my 20' enclosed trailer with a 10k lbs load my 2018 ram 2500 turbo actuator went out. my exhaust brake is inoperable due to the turbo actuator not functioning properly. the truck does not build boost as it should. there is a service bulletin for 2015 ram 2500 with 6,7 cummins in them. bulletin number [XXX]. this bulletin covers the exact part that went out on my truck while hauling. the part numbers from 2015 to 2018 model years did not change. i have attempted to reach out to ram about this issue. they state that the part is different even though the dealership says it is the same. here is a link to said defective part. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The trailer brakes failed, and the contact no longer used the vehicle to haul the trailer, and the cruise control failed to activate as needed. While depressing the brake pedal, the wheels locked up, and the ABS failure caused the vehicle to shudder, causing the braking distance to become extended. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts for the repair was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available for the repair. The manufacturer gave permission for the dealer to repair the vehicle; however, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
hydraulic control units and anti-lock braking systems keep giving an error code.
The ABS control module is not working. This turns off the anti-lock brakes and I have nearly hit someone when the brakes locked and skid across the intersection. The consistency beeping and vehicle message block the information screen. I have been waiting for over a year for the parts to be replaced. It is a shame that new vehicles safety systems doesn't work. The part is 68347098AA the replacement 68347098AB or 68347098AC is not available.
Intermittent ABS Light on slippery roads. C0020-01 Code found by dealership. Warranty does not cover failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated, with an audible ding sound. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The service abs and service electrical brake system flashes on and off, dings. Occurs at all speeds, in town driving seems to make it ding worse on and off on and off Some days it doesn’t hardly do it, some days it is non stop. This prohibits the use of cruise control also, with a faulty braking alert the cruise aUto disengages From looking at dodge forums this is a very common issue in 2018 2500 ram trucks. A friend of mine who has the same truck is currently also having the same issue. No one but dodge can read the code or make a repair or even get the parts. They are covering up the issue I believe. You can find tons of people complaining of this issue and dodge needs to issues a recall. [XXX] [XXX] 2018 Ram 2500 [XXX] 2018 Ram 2500 Both having same issue conway ar I’ve talked to a local shop and they said they have seen several with it but their scan tool won’t tell them anything the software is blocked by ram. I have found enough info to know what parts are required to repair it but you can’t get the mopar parts anywhere but dealer. On average this is costing people 1600-2000 for the repair of the abs module [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The ABS service light keeps coming on and beeping. It will go off after a little while but then returns intermittantly while driving. Apparently this is a known problem and should be a recall. Many owners are wasting thousands of dollars for repairs that should be covered by a recall.
Service abs ABS traction control dash lights on and off
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights intermittently illuminated. As a result of the warning lights being illuminated, the cruise control system failed to operate as needed. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Several dealers were made aware of the issue, and each confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but offered no assistance. The failure was approximately 40,000.
ABS control module and HCU is out, diagnosed from my mechanic, causing intermittent loss of my ABS, traction control, and cruise control. From what I understand Dodge is aware of the issue but has not issued a recall as of now. The truck has now been involved a reared collision on February 13th caused in part by the lack of the ABS working
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated, the ABS and brake control warning lights illuminated. While the ABS warning light was illuminated, the cruise control could not be activated. The ESC and traction control warning lights were also illuminated. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with ABS and braking system failure. However, the vehicle was not repaired because parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The manufacturer offered reimbursement for a rental and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
ABS light and traction control yellow warning lights are illuminated on dash. It Also chimes when it appears. Going to dealer Thursday 2-22-24 to scan a code and be put on the waiting list.
ABS BELLS GO OFF ALL THE TIME AND SAYS SERVICE ABS , CANT EVEN GET THE PART , NON STOP PROBLEM .
Vehicle is displaying a “Service abs” warning on dash intermittently. It has disabled traction control and cruise control. Parts from the dealer are currently unavailable. After researching I have found that this is a common problem with this model and year vehicle.
ABS and traction control lights coming on intermittently. I tow a camper with this and understand this is a known problem which is continuing to happen without any successful resolution.
Service electronic braking system Notification and ding won’t stop going off. Truck has less than 50k and through my research this is a common issue with this truck. I don’t want to drive it anymore fit safety reasons. Bought the truck 2 months ago and have had an issue since I purchased it
Loss of power/turbo. I was hauling a heavy load when I had a loss of turbo power on highway. Causing my truck to loose mph up a hill and almost getting struck by a semi vdd into my trailer. Check engine light is on and turbo don’t kick on anymore. I haven’t had the money to fix the problem but I’m certain it’s the turbo/turbo actuator.
I keep getting an Electronic Brake Service message and ABS message that randomly starts dinging and popping up on my display that also disables my cruise control. This obviously is a known issue and I would like to know what is being done to correct this. I have read several and seen over 3000 reports of this problem so why is it not being addressed to make our vehicles safer when it is a known fault. We travel with our camper and travel baseball all summer long and this is not acceptable when it comes to my family or the safety of others on the road around me.
Repeated warnings on and off that ABS was defective. Would turn on and off repeatedly while driving. Service ABS system alerts.
Got in my truck one day and my ABS and Traction Control Lights both came on, as well as a notification in my central dash advising to service electronic brake system. At first the lights where intermittent and random. I could start the truck and the lights would be off. Apply the brakes to put in gear and the lights would come on. Drive down the driveway and a bump would turn them back on and pressing the brakes would turn them off. Now the lights stay on permanently. The ABS error code I got was C002001, or ABS pump general electric failure. I called several local mechanic shops and they reported to me that this is a known issue, parts are on backorder. I called the dealership, was advised the same with the addition that Dodge/Fiat, not only new about the issue, but changed upgraded the part and gave me the new part number, which is also on back order. Knowing this vehicle is a diesel and is designed for towing, which is why I bought it, to pull my trailers and equipment, the brake system is vital to stopping the vehicle for my safety and everyone around on the road. If this is a know issue across the nation, this needs to be addressed.
The abs/traction control message goes off intermittently. The truck dings and beeps from the dash with a message that says “service abs”. This is a known issue with this yr/make truck.
Abs/traction control lights keep pooping up on the dash. The dealer has changed the abs module and it didn’t last long. The truck has 28k miles. It definitely can cause an accident because I haul heavy loads a lot. If the abs brakes doesn’t work correctly I will crash into another vehicle. And it dings/ beeps every time I push the brakes or every time I hit a bump or something. I hope Ram can come up with a recall to fix this issue soon. The contact stated he fixed the ABS issue on the 2018 Ram 2500.
The abs module has gave me issues and now has gone completely out causing no brakes and while it was having intermittent issues causes no cruise control and causes transmission issues which is another thing the transmission has went out again after this is the 3rd time replacing at around 10k everytime
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the cruise control, ABS and traction control warning lights were continuously illuminated. In addition, the alarm sounded continuously. The contact disconnected the wires to stop the alarm from sounding. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The truck has low miles only about 50K and my ABS lights go on and off randomly. Now when I am driving I randomly have ABS lights go on and off and I believe that the issue is with that ram ABS unit and control module. I have been told that the fix will involve replacing both pump and control module. I tow with this truck in all weather and it's not safe to be driving without a working ABS. The ABS error code I got was C002001.
Warning lights and audible warning for ABS and emergency braking along with traction control have been active for several months. Dealer determined the ABS control module is faulty and needs replaced. Current lead-time for the part is 7 months and cost to replace is $1,200. While the warning is active the cruise control and traction control are de-activated. During a recent rain storm I had to accelerate to avoid a merging vehicle on the freeway and the rear tires broke loose due to the lack of traction control and sent me into an uncontrolled fish-tail across 3 lanes. Fortunately traffic was light and everyone was able to avoid me and I got it under control and stopped just before hitting the freeway barrier wall.
ABS light and Traction control light came on. Shows code C0020-01 which is for the ABS pump motor control failure, which also works with the hydraulic control unit This part not working can cause the vehicle to go out of control while braking due to lack to ABS and also to go out of control while driving/accelerating due to lack of traction control. The code was verified by a national parts dealer The component had not been inspected, although many Ram owner online forums show that this is common part failure on trucks that are not even very old or have high mileage
ABS and Traction Control light keeps coming on. Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure is being read.
ABS and traction control go off and on constantly while driving. When doing so lights on the dash come on as well as a loud chime. Besides being very annoying, it makes the vehicle unsafe when not having ABS and or traction control at any given moment. This started happening when the truck only had 5,000 or so miles on it. I couldn't get it "fixed" because of COVID, and the dealerships have no parts/ back-ordered. I've heard that many others with same problem, had things replaced by the dealers ( at their cost) and it comes back again. This should be a recall !!! Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ABS module indicator alarm chime is going off. Dodge says part can't be ordered until June 30, 2024. Vehicle is unsafe and Ram refuses to work with me.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), and while driving at various speeds, the head unit became pixelated and would appear and disappear without warning. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds the radio, A/C, and car phone were turned on and off inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the head unit needed to be replaced due to it separating. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60, 000.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS TURNS THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL COMPLAITS.
ABS & traction control light coming on intermittently I have had in a shop a bunch still not fixed
I bought this 2018 RAM 2500 in February 2024 from a certified dealer. They indicated the ABS light was on however I was traveling out of town and they indicated my local dealer could fix this faster and lowered the price by the estimated cost for repair. I have been working with my local Mechanic for almost a year to solve the ABS modular problem but the local RAM dealership states the part is on back order or nonexistent. I have driven the vehicle very little due to the worry of an accident after not being able to resolve this issue. When driving the vehicle, the ABS light is on and constantly sounding a warning. Again, I have not been been driving this vehicle due to the dangerous situation it may cause. In my opinion, the dealership should have never sold me this vehicle, knowing that repair parts are unavailable for the ABS module. I was never informed of any recall on this vehicle at the time of purchase or since the purchase.
2018 69500 miles tradesman 6.4 hemi 2500 has anti skid lights and skid module light on randomly dealer cannot fix parts on order 6 month this is a safety issue with no help from dodge dealership vehicles that have this system now none [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] thankyou for looking into INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I keep getting an ABS/Traction control warning on my 2018 Ram 2500 I was told this is a common issue and the parts for repair would be over $1,000 dollars. I am an ASE certified mechanic in the field of brakes. This is a safety item that should be under a recall if those systems go down not only do you loose the ABS/traction control but you also loose four wheel drive. That makes driving in the northeast very hazardous on roads covered in snow and ice.
The truck began flashing problems with the anit lock brakes and electronic brakes off and on. For over two months now, the service lights stay on along with the traction control warning light. I have called multiply locations trying to locate replacement parts to no avail. The brake pedal sometimes is difficult to push and the antilock brakes failed at a slow speed once. I have reached out for help several times and keep being told that the part is not available and will not be available for months. Last time before today I was told Feb. I called today and was told it wouldn't be until June. This is my only vehicle to get back and forth to work and to get my son to athletic events. I really need this problem corrected.
Please add this to complaint number: 11702732 This is a supplemental complaint regarding the same safety issue I previously reported involving Safety Recall C4B on my 2018 Ram 2500 - complaint # 11702732 In addition to the safety concerns and the prior accident I described in my original complaint, the unresolved recall has also caused significant financial harm. I still owe approximately $15,100 on the vehicle and must make a $515 monthly payment. Because the recall remedy has been unavailable for years, I cannot legally sell or trade the vehicle, even though it should have substantial equity. The truck’s resale value has dropped due to the open safety recall with no remedy, leaving me financially stuck with an unsafe vehicle I cannot get rid of and a high payment that I currently cannot afford due to job loss. The unresolved recall continues to put me in danger during winter driving, and the lack of remedy has created both a safety crisis and a serious financial hardship. Please attach this information to my previous complaint for the same VIN.
The Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) covered under Safety Recall C4B has been unavailable for several years, leaving my 2018 Ram 2500 with ongoing ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control malfunctions. This defect has already caused an actual accident. In January 2024, during snow conditions, the ABS and traction control failed while I was braking in my driveway. The truck slid uncontrollably and struck a tree, causing over $10,000 in damage that had to be repaired through my insurance. This incident occurred specifically because the brake and stability systems did not function properly. The issue continues to create serious safety risks, especially in winter. The warning lights for ABS and traction control are on constantly, accompanied by continuous dinging that is extremely distracting and stressful to drive with. The truck loses stability on snow or ice, braking distance is increased, and the vehicle behaves unpredictably. I am now driving again in snow and ice this winter, and I am genuinely afraid this defect will cause another accident. Despite this being an acknowledged safety recall, every dealership I contact says the replacement HCU part is still “not available” for my vehicle. This has been confirmed repeatedly by multiple dealerships and by the manufacturer’s recall hotline. I have attempted to get this recall repaired for several years with no success. Because the recall remedy is unavailable, the vehicle remains unsafe to operate, yet I have no alternative transportation and must drive it daily. I also cannot sell or trade the truck, which has caused significant financial harm. I am requesting NHTSA assistance because the recall remedy has not been provided within a reasonable timeframe, the vehicle remains unsafe, and the defect has already contributed to a crash.
2018 Ram 2500 26,000 miles anti lock brake system light goes in and out while driving. This also causes the alarm to ding continuously while driving. This makes for distracted driving not to mention the safety of the braking system. I personally know 3 people with the same truck same issue. When I took it to dealer they started the diagnostic test and stated that it was the brake module. They also stated they do not know if any reoccurring issues with the module. I realized the dealer wasn’t gonna help me and pulled the truck from the shop. I am writing to you guys out of concern and frustration. This should be a recall due to the size and weight of the vehicle. 2500 trucks are designed to tow heavy loads and I do that with my truck. I currently will not pull any thing due the safety of me and the public. I’m hoping this help get my truck back on the road and safe to drive.
The ABS module failed and was replaced April of 2022 at Terry Hendricks Ram in Archbold Ohio under extended warranty. Now I’m in Titusville Florida for the winter and same issue, ABS lights and service traction control with the constant dinging. Parks Chrysler Ram here has order same part again, they said will take a couple weeks to get a replacement as there’s a waiting list because it’s a on going issue with these trucks. 51,000 miles on it and stated there is a 2 year warranty on this part. This now does not have the antilock working again and could be a safety issue. Should have a recall on this.
I get a warning that flashes on the dash multiple times every time I drive stating that I need to service the electronic braking system. This warning is also accompanied by the traction control and ABS warning lights. The warning and lights do not stay illuminated and flash on and off several times during the course of even a short drive and the warning bell sounds every time as well. At minimum this is a huge distraction when driving and even worse I do not know if I can trust the brakes in the event of an emergency stop. I looked at fixing the issue by replacing the ABS and HCU units, but those parts are back ordered well in to 2024 now. Reading on various forums, this problem seems to be pretty common, but as far as I know no recall has been issued by Chrysler.
I am receiving intermittent, but frequent, ABS error while driving. The alarm dings and cruise control is disabled. Most times it happens every couple of minutes but every so often, it will go several minutes without the error and alarm noise. It also goes on and off when hitting bumps in the road such as crossing bridges and going over the expansion joints. As off yet, I have not had any troubles braking but am afraid that I might. 1- The ABS/HCU module. Yes it is available. 2- Possible difficulty or failure in braking. 3- It has not been to the dealer yet. I read this is a very common problem but no recall has been issued? 4- No. It has not been inspected yet. 5- Alarm sounding and "Service Electronic Braking System" displayed on dash.
abs lite comes on. service electronic braking system message. cruise will not work when fault is active. second time for this. fixed first time under warranty. truck only has 60k miles.
