2 months ago my truck started making a “whirling noise” whenever I would turn the steering wheel. There was no change in the ability to steer at all. The service manager informed me it was a “Hydro-booster” issue and was in no way dangerous or would create a danger until an opportunity for service and parts were available. He informed me this was not a warrenty issue and I would have to either leave my truck for “weeks” while part was removed and sent in for inspection or accept noise until I wanted to foot bill for repair of over $1K. I elected to drive with noise until I could save up money and be without my work truck. Recently, driving my truck down the highway and hit a pot hole which created an “out of alighnment” in my steering. Upon arriving home the steering wheel was up to 180 degrees out of snych with steering. As I was backing into driveway and going over the driveway curb I heard a loud “clunking” noise in which my steering wheel then had absolutly no connection with the front tires. I was able to free-spin the column. I had it towed to dealership. Talking to Service Manager, he said it sounds like 2 retaining nuts loosened up to the point of falling off and steering linkage dislodged. Why is there no retaining/ locking pin on these bolting parts to prevent complete separation. I could have been still traveling down the highway when this happened. I feel this should be repaired as a Warranty and I not be charged for this repair.
ABS and traction control warning lights intermittently. Loss of cruise control. This appears to be a known problem with an expensive repair.
abs traction control light keeps beeping and coming on seems to be a issue with this year vehicle
The hydraulic control unit (HCU) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module, not sure which one. They will only work intermittently or not at all; this causes the warning lights/chime to come on/off or just stay on. During this action the vehicle has no ABS or traction control, this is the Third time my vehicle has needing this part serviced with out-of-pocket cost as well as wait times for the part to actually arrive at the dealership.
Service electronic brake systems, service anti-lock brakes. replaced under warranty and now the light comes on intermittently. Obvious problem with the Ram trucks
Coming down a ridge with a loaded hay trailer approximately 14500 pounds, the Service Electronic Braking System and Service Automatic Braking System messages appeared in the cluster EVIC display and the service brake and traction control warning lamps illuminated and there was associated chime. I applied the brake pedal and it went to the floor with zero affect. The trailer brakes didn't respond either. I used the exhaust brake and skillful downshifting (it has a manual transmission) to slow the vehicle and then used the foot applied emergency brake pedal to bring the truck to a stop. I was lucky I was already carefully descending off of the ridge and I was able to downshift and slow before engine RPM became an issue. I cycled the ignition and the warnings went away. I very carefully and very slowly completed my descent off the ridge. Now the warnings, light, and chime are incessantly coming in and then just as soon turning off. I don't trust the truck is fit for my purposes at this point in time. I hadn't been that scared since my dad and I lost a rear axle and brakes on our 1969 Ford F-250 with a load of wood in the back coming down a mountain road when I was 12.
Service anti lock braking system and electronic brake system code constantly coming on. This is an apparent safety issue that Dodge needs to resolve. After much research, I’ve discovered that there are many, many complaints of 2018 Ram truck owners having the same problems. Thanks for all your assistance.
Purchased vehicle new. ABS and TC lights presented on dash intermittent. Cruise control inoperative when lights on. Had issue under warranty and had components replaced to resolve issue and now happening again. Afraid to have family in vehicle with inoperative safety systems.
I’m receiving two codes; Service Antilock Brake System and Service Electronic Braking System. I met with my mechanic this morning and he said that this is a very common problem with the 2018 Ram 2500. Since this is a reoccurring safety issue i feel that Dodge should resolve not the owner. Should I get in an accident from a break failure who is responsible?
Antilock braking and traction control system failed. I was driving on a snow/ice covered road and hit the brakes with no anti lock control and truck slid in road side ditch. Truck has not been repaired. This is a known problem that Dodge is well aware of. This could have caused serious injury or death under alternate driving situation or heavy traffic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ABS and traction control warning lights keep coming on and I have either impaired brake performance or loss in braking at all. I have had the codes ran and the ABS module keeps coming up as a failure. The warning lights sometimes come on just while driving or when hitting a bump in the road. They stay on for the duration of the drive and sometimes will turn off randomly.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS and Traction Control was inoperable. The message to service the ABS and Traction Control warning light was displayed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred previously, and the ABS and Traction Control module was replaced. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
On January 15, 2024 my 2018 RAM 2500 truck with 6.7 Cummins Diesel engine was towed to dealer after "Service Antilock Braking Systems" warnings were displayed on dash instruments. Dealer diagnosed that the anti-lock brake module needed replacement but part is back-ordered with no estimate on expected replacement date. Was told by dealer there will be no harm to vehicle mechanical/electrical systems driving truck as is without anti-lock brakes other than possible lack of traction if driving on snow/ice, etc. As of 3/22/24, latest dealer update is an upcoming 4/1/24 update from RAM Corporate unit with no information on what to expect as yet. Not encouraging when faced with mountain driving pulling heavy trailer this summer and no anti-lock braking active. Audible & Visual warnings still displaying and dinging daily at this time.
ABS and traction lights have started staying on and when on the cruise system does not work
Service ABS braking system keeps appearing intermittently along with traction control and ABS lights illuminating on instrument panel. NO RECALL for this problem has been issued and parts are expensive to replace. Please direct manufacturer to fix issue immediately. Thank you for your mission to ensure the safety of others!!
I spent close to $1,700 to replace hydraulic control unit (HCU) at a local dealership on 4/7/2022 when my pickup truck was only 25,392 miles. Since the flashing of ABS/Traction Control lights did not stay on, I paid for the first diagnostics at this dealership but did not read the error code. I had to return couple times, and the service tech finally saw in person when the lights were flashing and was able to use the factory diagnostic scanner to read the error code, C0020-01. This error code directed the tech to replace hydraulic control unit (HCU). "...The replacement procedures says to drive vehicle if code comes back replaced abs module..." From online search, I found out that the replaced HCU in my truck was still XXXXXXXXAA, not XXXXXXXXAB, as shown on the invoice. Therefore, it explained that my truck now has the same ABS/Traction Control light flashing problem while driving or idling only after no more than 13,000 miles after the repair. So no cruise control could be used. I returned to the same dealership today, 1/15/2024. However, the service advisor warned me that I'd have to pay for the diagnostics ($296) that might not guarantee to find the error code since the flashing was not happening in front of the service advisor. I was told that until the flashing became permanent then return like last time. Based on this conversation, I felt that the dealership did not want to take any responsibility. My last paid repair at this dealership would only cover new part and labor for 24-months by the manufacturer, MOPAR, which is about to expire on 4/6/2024. I strongly recommend NHTSA to: 1) require MOPAR or the dealership to have free diagnostics, especially when customer provided video evidences the day before arriving at the dealership for help. 2) recall all ABS & HCU modules in 2018 Ram 2500 Diesel or gas. 3) require MOPAR to reimburse prior repairs nationally for all Ram owners experiencing the same problems prior to Nov 2022. Thank you very much
Thai dang ABS going out in these trucks. And still no fix. Went out when going down the high way. Kicked out Cruze co trip 4 we and all sensors. Almost died this is crap that nothing is being done to fix this and get a part that fixes this for the customers that bought these trucks. I have a 50k truck I can’t drive. Have not driven it’s in almost a year now. SOMETHINGS NEEDS DONE
I own a 2018 Ram 2500 with 104,000 miles. During the period of ownership I have had to replace the ABS/traction control module twice. Each time the repair is over $1,000.00 to have a Ram dealer diagnose and repair my abs brakes. This is a very significant safety issue. Without the ABS system I cannot control this vehicle in an emergency stop situation. You cannot use cruise control. This ongoing issue needs to be investigated and Ram needs to be held accountable for a well known issue.
Code C0020-01 appeared. ABS pump motor control- General electrical failure. Problem occurred in heavy snow storm. Traction control would not work, anti-lock brake system would not function. Brakes locked up causing vehicle to skid.
ABS and traction control lights came on. The dealer said that it was the control module. It has been replaced. There were no braking problems but concerned that it would eventually be a problem.
Electronic Braking System Needs Service Error that can't be addressed at the dealership.
Abs light in the dash came on intermittently then constantly. Took the vehicle to Nemer Ram in Queensbury ny. They replaced some parts, but problem continued. They said abs module is bad and said a new one has been ordered but there is a national back order and no info on timing of receiving the part. Told me to take the truck and drive home. They said abs system May or may not work. I have driven it for two weeks since and have had some very dangerous situations in rain and snow where brakes locked up and skidded, so abs didn’t work. This is a seriously dangerous situation that forbids me from driving this vehicle in wet or snowy conditions. I live in northern ny, where it snows and rains often, so I can barely drive this vehicle. Dealer told me to call Chrysler customer care, which I did today. I have a case #[XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Abs General Electric failure. I don’t have traction control or abs and I live in the mountains where these systems are necessary. Very unsafe and parts aren’t expected till June 2024
The anti-lock braking system, traction control and speed control system continue to flash on and off. While driving here in Huntsville, Alabama it snowed and my braking system failed causing me to nearly crash.
While driving the ABS light and traction control light come on and go off randomly. I am afraid the brakes will quit working.
Radio keeps going out and turning off, and then comes back on with different stations. Next is my outside mirrors on both side , heater to mirrors don't come on at all to defrost
ABS Service Required Light and alarm and Electronic Braking light and alarm are coming on and going off. Just started in the last week. Apparently this issue has existed since 2018 with no recall issued to date. ABS module has not been available and shows Discontinued. I have not been to the dealer at this point, but from research the problem is a bad ABS module from factory. Hundreds of other trucks are affected with no resolution. I have to tow a 38 ft trailer and it may be unsafe if ABS fails. I do NOT want to have an accident and destroy my truck and trailer and/or have my wife and I injured or worse. The vehicle is available for inspection. I would be certain that the threshold for complaints has been met. If you are serious about vehicle safety, you will put a recall on the affected vehicles and require the parts be made available for repair sooner than later. I have seen where people have waited several months and still have no parts. Also, the cost of repair out of warranty is somewhere between $1200 and $1700 . For a manufacturer defect this should not happen. Please issue a recall!
I purchased a used vehicle from Victory Dodge Dealship in Kansas City three days later, the ABS traction control all my sensors, cruise control four-wheel-drive locked out on me, kicked out the cruise control on the highway was not sure what was going on someone behind me almost ran into me thought something was wrong with the truck, so I went to pull over slowly hitting the brakes like I normally would but the brakes locked up due to the fact ABS shut off almost crashed my truck Now to find out, there is a huge problem with the ABS control modules going bad, and my Dealer says they’re not gonna cover it even though I just bought it and the part is unavailable for the next 6 to 8 months There needs to be a nationwide mandatory recall from Dodge on this part as it’s been a problem for countless people, and it is a safety issue that needs to be dealt with some kind of fix and replacement needs to be made there’s regular hard-working people out here that these things break over and over and over again and don’t have the money to fix something that should not be breaking Please push for a recall on the ABS system on these trucks and come up with a replacement that will not malfunction or break Thank you
Truck throws code C0020-01 and my ABS and traction control lights on dash board start to go in an out. Proposes a HUGE safety risk. Truck has 48,000 miles which puts it out of the warranty that covers this issue. Lots and lots of info online about this being a common issue and RAM has yet to recall it still.
Early 2024 and it continues today, I randomly get an alert about my braking system needing checked but then the message will go away and everything works fine. I finally took it to Keer Automotive dealership in New Lexington OH in March 2024 to see what was going on and they advised there was an issue with the ABS module and the part wasn't available but they were expecting it in May 2024 and it would cost about $1800 for the repair. They put me on their list to contact when they received the parts. Around November 2024, I received a recall notice. To date, I am still waiting on the part. I continue to follow up with Keer but they have no answers. In the meantime, I am stuck with a $65,000 truck that has a faulty braking unit. It is my mode of transportation and with winter upon us once again I am faced with winter weather driving and not knowing if my brakes will work properly. This puts me and anyone riding with me at extreme risk of an accident as well as anyone around me that could be impacted should an accident occur.
abs traction control light abs brakes dont work
The abs module is not working and yhe braking is hard to use.
Service abs sensor has already been replaced by the dealer and less than 2 years later the problem is back . Dealer says major wait for part. Nobody makes it .so now I have to drive a truck with faulty abs. Very unsafe. My research shows some people told a year wait for part. How do I even sell it with the dash all lit up and pinging every couple seconds. Why is this not a huge recall for safety alone. Any advice is welcome. Thank you
The ABS keeps going off and this is the second time. I read reviews and this is a known issue, that needs to be recalled.
The ABS system is malfunctioning intermitantly. The vehicle can be available upon request. The safefty of any persons in the vehicle are at risk if ths brakes dont work properly. The problem has been diagnosed by an independant service center in Angola Indiana. There are warning lamps on for the ABS and a warning bell as well.
"Service ABS System" came on dash after normal braking entering a intersection. Truck pulsated and didnt allow brakes to be applied as I entered the intersection. No collision. ABS warning continues to come on
The truck developed and engine tick. They got progressively worse, and it felt like the engine was misfiring and made the speed of the truck inconsistent when I tried to accelerate in decelerate. The mechanic told me the engine ticks were definitely coming from the lifters and we had it repaired. This was not cheap. The ticking went on for about one month before I had it repaired. I have attached the invoice.
My ABS CONTROL MODULE is faulty and must be replaced only 57,000 miles on my diesal 2500 Ram. I’m aware of the class action lawsuit regarding this very issue. This issue needs to be addressed in a recall and Dodge needs to repair at their expense. My truck is at the dealership due to the ABS/TRACTION warning and the $2,600 cost to replace the faulty module.
Electronic Braking system failure affecting the ABS system, Traction control, and cruise control. It puts the safety of everyone in the vehicle and on the road at risk because the ABS and cruise control will fail causing an unexpected adverse conditional that can lead to an accident. This is a known problem for RAM and their is no fix at this time other than making the customer pay out of pocket for the broken parts to be replaced with the same parts that will fail shortly after. There needs to be a recall and a permanent fix from RAM
ABS module failure. HCU failure. Braking system completely out of whack. I purchased the truck new. Warranty is expired. Many many complaints online of the same problem. Parts are unavailable to fix. RAM needs to fix this shit asap. Get a recall going. This is completely unsat.
The ABS/EBS errors lights comes on and cruise control won't work. Did some research online seems like a common problem. Hoping to see a recall by Ram.
Hydraulic brake system not working abs traction control no cruise. Dealer stated parts not available and not sure when
ABS and traction control lights going off and on. Stating abs need serviced. Took to a auto maintenance and told it need anew pump and module would not be available until August 24,2024. In January 2021hydraulic unit was replaced now need to replace it again
2018 Ram 2500 ABS control module and hydraulic control unit is defective. The vehicle’s information system illuminates service antilock brake system and service electrical braking system repeatedly during normal driving conditions. This is a known issue that Ram/Mopar has yet put out a recall on this defective part. I have contacted a local dealership and was told many times the part is on back order. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle knowing it has a defective part that could prevent a possible accident.
The Service Anti-lock Braking System warning lights and audio alarms come on almost constantly at times along with the cruise control failing, a common problem I understand which Dodge Ram has to be aware of. This truck has only 7000 miles on it!
ABS/ Traction control indicators intermittently chimes and lights on dash goes on/off while driving over every little bump or pressing/depressing emergency brake My safety and others safety put at risk due to ABS and Traction Control malfunction Problem reproduces everytime vehicle is driven ABS and Traction Control warning lights and messages on display No prior warning lights
Driving along my ABS and TCS light intermittenly appear. I looked into this briefly and have noticed that there is a larger issue in this case. There are thousands of Ram 2500 owners who are having this issue. It is a defective part from the manufacturer and should be covered under a recall. I do not have the funds at the moment to pay for these repairs, so in turn I will be driving with not traction control and no anti lock brake system.
ABS sensor light comes on at random times. My truck just reached 100,000 miles. I've performed no troubleshooting but it is extremely intermittent, either the Service the Automatic or Service the Electronic Braking System(s). Usually, a bump in the road makes it come and another turns it off. Sometimes it happens so quickly, only the message and traction control disabled light comes on, sometimes only the chime comes in. Sometimes the message stays up and the brake warning and traction control light comes on, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a couple of seconds. To compound the problem, there appears to be an issue in sourcing replacement parts resulting in a delay in repair. A delay in repair could result in a additional damage to the vehicle, not using the vehicle (not an option) or ultimately an accident.
My third ABS module failed while towing (aka hydraulic control unit), resulting in a loss of ABS brakes and issues controlling the vehicle and trailer. The truck had 67,000 miles at the time of failure, and all modules have been replaced with OEM components, one of which is at my expense. There is absolutely a known problem with the HCU and Chrysler needs to issue a recall to remedy the issue and reimburse owners who have been forced to repair these vehicles out of pocket.
