The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle began to shift sideways while driving up a hill. On another occasion, while driving at various speeds with the cruise control activated, the feature failed to function as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
I have been having antilock braking system and electronic braking alerts come on the dash of my 2018 Ram 2500 for a couple months now. I have tried to have it repaired at the Pohanka Ram in Salisbury, MD in which I was told that the ABS module and HCU unit were under "engineering review" and all parts would not be released to repair. I also confirmed with the Lakewood Dodge Dealership in Seaford, DE and IG Burton Ram in Georgetown, DE. All 3 dealership report the same issue that RAM will not release the parts for repair. I have a truck that is an obvious risk on the road, and will not pass Delaware motor vehicle inspection in March when my tags end. I have seen that there is a class action lawsuit and a huge amount on owners reporting to this agency. This is huge issue and is affecting a large amount of people that own 2017 and 2018 Ram trucks.
ABS system malfunctioning.
The service electronic brake system light flashes intermittently, along with the traction control light and ABS light. Seems to occur when for no reason.
Vehicle has massive sway when carrying payload in bed of truck. Not a problem pulling trailor with a load just when loaded in bed. Is not the death wobble associated with Dodge pickups have had checked by local mechanic and no problems found on suspension, swaybars, shocks, springs, ball joints or other issues. Is available for inspection. 1st time it happened was carrying a ton of pellets. occurs around 45-50 mph and is very dangerous on uneven pavement only way to stop it is to slow down. no warning lamps or messages. has happened 4-5 times but only with a load in bed of truck. need an email address to upload videos of problem
Been getting abs warning alarm for over 2 years and no fix in site. Also cruise does not function when in alarm been living with this alarm for 2 years or more. I would like to sell vehicle but cannot with this unrepaired recall. Need some action asap.
ABS and traction control light and electronic braking systems warning lights are on. The parts are not being produced by the manufacturer per them. This is a safety concern as these trucks pull heavy loads. This is a systemic issue with 2018-2019 RAM 2500 and 3500. The issue has been inspected by dealer and repair shop. Manufacturer is unresponsive to owners and dealers. There are currently 2 class action lawsuits on this matter.
Service abs system and traction control

Purchased truck and abs light is on that disables abs and traction control. Which in turn won’t let you use cruise control
Brake service message lights on. Many others with same problems
2018 Ram 2500-continued failure of ABS system-ABS warning light and service ABS system error code come constantly. When code is on ABS braking system, cruise control, and 4 wheel drive do not work as well. Truck has been serviced 3 times for this issue and dealer says ABS module needs to be replaced but they do not have a fix or the parts available to fix it at this time from Ram.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated intermittently. The warning light became more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS hydraulic control unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the parts being on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that there was no recall or warranty coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
ABS / Traction control disabled dash lights flashing.
This is my 4th HCU/ABS Failure. 3 Priors were replaced/reported in FEB/March to NHTSA. ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system. This can cause a sudden and unexpected deceleration or loss of vehicle control, as the traction control system also shuts off without warning. The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. This should become an immediate recall since it directly impacts the safety features of the vehicle as well as the cruise control system, which may suddenly deactivate and cause sudden deceleration. Various warning lamps display. BRAKE, ABS, Traction CONTROL.
Abs light and traction control lights went off causing the truck to throw C0020-01 error. Dealer suggested replacing HCU and ABS MODULE
This vehicle has failure of the ABS module and the ABS HCU. This is due to a manufacturing default. This causes the APS and traction light to come on the dash along with service electric brake system in the message center. At this time on 11 -24-2023 this is such a big issue you are unable to get the parts to repair the vehicle and there is over 3,600 units on backorder when you contact dealers. Because of the failure this prevents safe breaking of the vehicle
I own and drive a 2018 Ram 2500. This morning on the way to work the "Service Antilock Brake System" & "Service Electronic Braking System" error messages are popping up on the dash on and off. This is the 3rd time I have received this problem and the truck only has 42,200 miles on it. The first time the dealer replaced the ABS module and HCU at only 15,486 miles. The second time the dealer forced me to pay for these parts knowing that this is a manufacturer defect and a widely known issue. When this happens the trucks ABS system and traction control does not function properly posing a huge safety risk! I don't know if my trucks brakes will work properly, are reliable or if I can even drive it. I am now forced to rent a car until something is done about this. This issue has been reported many times over and is wide spread all over social media. It affects thousands of people that own these trucks from 2017 to 2018. failure TSB Number: S2005000004 and NHTSA Action Number: PE22012
ABS light and Traction Control service alert light on dashboard. Second time this has happened. I had this issue prior and had Ram replace both parts that needed to fixed and was not covered by Ram. This/ these are faulty parts and Ram needs a recall. There are thousands of Ram owners that have the same issue and Ram refuses to acknowledge and recall these parts/ issues! Please help us!
Constantly throwing ABS code and electronic braking system code, and then, turning off the alerts on dashboard. Many complaints of 2018 models were found online and a class action lawsuit.
My ABS system went out while under warranty. A couple years later now I'm getting ABS module warnings. Brakes are different and the cruise control is affected at times. Sounds like very common issue to certain Ram owners. We need a recall.
Truck has 15500 miles on it. ABS and electronic braking system light comes on and off randomly. Causing me to lose traction control, cruise control and ABS
Anti-lock brake system module is out causing hard brakes and pulling which could cause a wreck. This is a known problem and has been reported by many 18 Ram 2500 owners. My truck is not safe in this condition and there needs to be a recall to make these trucks safe.
ABS and Traction control lights keep going on and off, this still continues and it looks like Ram knows this is a safety issue. Dealers have no parts for repairs
Loss of ABS. The hydraulic abs unit failed they are on nation wide back order cannot get them. 2018 are not recalled yet only 19 and newer have been recalled for this issue. Truck losses abs and due to that losses traction control. Very common issue in all 2018 ram 2500. Very dangerous to drive a big heavy duty truck with no abs.
the abs and traction control keep lighting up and lose both while driving.
After a hard braking event Service Electronic Braking System and ABS warning CEL came on. Goes on and off intermittently sometimes 20-30 times in a mile of driving.
Abs light and message on dash came on indicating electrical abs service needs to be performed. Took it to dealer was told needs abs sensor but they are not available. Vehicle is not safe to drive as brakes will lock up if applied .
Abs module failed for the second time. Braking is not predictable without abs system
C0020 - ABS Teves/TRW Recirculation Pump General Electric Failure Error Intermittent. Approx. Dated Occured Nov. 15 2023. ABS Module and Traction control goes off-line intermittently during drive tests effecting ones ability to stop safely and prevents ABS pulsating Hydraulic braking when towing locking up vehicle brakes effecting driver and adjacent traffic/pedestrian safety. Vehicle is currently being serviced by an independent dealer but I have managed to replicate the issue on test drives and error is logged as a permanent code within the OBD II ECU Ram Module confirmed by Autel System. Warning lights did appear when or at the moment the system failed not prior.
ABS and traction control intermittently shows a warning light. This may not happen at all while driving or it may happen a few times or constantly. When this happens it disables the cruise control without warning.
On 15 Nov 2023, my ABS and Traction Control warning lights illuminated. I took my 2018 RAM 2500 Tradesman Diesel truck to my servicing dealership (Fayetteville Dodge Ram, Fayetteville, NC) that afternoon and was told I needed to replace the ABS Module (Mopar OEM 68347098AB) and Hydraulic Control Unit HCU (Mopar OEM 68143491AB) . The dealership's parts department told me there was a backorder of about 4,000 of these parts nationwide. I attempted to obtain these parts through Mopar Parts Overstock and was told the same thing. After many internet searches, I find that this issue is wide-spread and potentially dangerous. I am now driving my truck with this brake defect, although my dealership assures me the braking system is safe to operate. Why is there not a recall on this wide-spread issue?
As with thousands of other owners with this model of truck my anti-lock control module is bad. The malfunction causes the anti-lock brakes service light as well as the traction control service light to be on. This malfunction renders both systems to be inoperable, thus causing a major safety concern.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle hesitated while coming to a stop, causing the braking distance to become extended. The ABS warning light was intermittently illuminated. An unknown local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,500.
During normal operation the ABS, Traction control and electronic braking system warning lights came on. Now when i am driving the Service electronic braking system lights will come on and off intermittently. Some times if i hit a bump it will come on briefly. My cruise control does not work and from what I've read my 4 wheel drive may not work. I live in the snow belt and use this truck as primary transportation as well as plowing snow and for our business. Im told this can be a brake module. I only have 40000 miles on my 2018 ram big horn. should not be having these safety problems.
Error code saying "Service Electronic Braking System" and anti skid brake stop working and crash avoidance braking (rear ending someone) stops working. Dodge is saying no replacement until March 2024. There is a recall to fix 2019 and newer so not sure why 2018 was excluded from this recall to fix a serious safety malfunction in the braking system.
Intermittent ABS brake failure warnings displayed in the message center and warning lamps, message comes on and off erratically. Speed Control is inoperative when message is displayed. Concern has occurred immediately after starting the vehicle before putting into gear and while driving at any speed. Concern is very erratic, does not usually stay on steady for more then 30 minutes. I have multiple videos of warnings coming on and off. Vehicle is currently at the dealer for repair 1/9/2024. The Ram dealer states the ABS HCU module failed and needs replaced. Dealer indicated this was a common issue with 17/18 model year RAM Heavy Duty's. Obviously erratic operation/function of the ABS could potentially cause dangerous braking conditions especially when loaded or towing.
ABS and Traction control light continuously comes on.
I own a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 with Cummings. My dashboard Anti-Lock Brake lights flash on and off and sometimes stays on and always turns off my cruise control. I’ve called the Ram dealers and they tell me the Anti-lock Brake System Module is on back order till next year. I’m nervous about my life and others on the highway who are driving with me. Can you HELP me. I have not been involved in a car accident yet but easily can happen [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving my vehicle and a car in front of me stopped at a traffic light. I attempted to brake my truck to stop the vehicle and I only had limited braking power and hit the vehicle n front of me. I had been experiencing intermittent ABS and Traction Control lights and I had a mechanic check all the wheel sensors and replaced one sensor that was damaged when the sensors were checked and cleaned. I had no indicator lights on prior to the crash and the ABS and Traction Control lights were illuminated after the crash. This was verified by the officer onsite at the crash.
The ABS and HCU are bad in my vehicle. It appears to be a widespread issue with this year model. A recall should be issued by the manufacturer to correct this safety issue. I recently collided with a barrier wall because my ABS system was not functional.
While driving with cruise control activated the Service ABS light came on and made an audible ding and the cruise control deactivated resulting in a loss of speed traveling along an interstate highway. This has happened several times, and no time frame to get fixed.
Intermittent ABS / traction control light and dinging! 49000 miles. Just like every other person complaining about the same exact issue on 2018s. I’m a disabled vet with a family of four on a single income. I can’t afford a 1200 abs module that lasts only 1-2 years. Clearly this is a major manufacturer issue, experienced by many Americans. This needs to become a recall. This is [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Abs warning and abs in operational
Intermittent ABS/cruise control failures and warnings. Disables trailer brakes while towing. Truck has 28k miles, has been repaired once already. Dealer says no recalls, and out of warranty. Subject of class action lawsuit?
2017 & 2018 Ram trucks have have a lot of ABS brake failures. I only have 30,000 miles on my truck. At 22,000 miles I had a ABS module replaced. Now at 30,000 miles I need another ABS module replaced. The problem is Ram does not have any ABA modules available. I am hearing they might have some by March. According to the Ram dealer, Ram is designing a new one because of all the failures. So that leaves a lot of Ram trucks on the road without ABS braking. Not a good thing to happen with winter coming on. Someone needs to address this problem with Ram. Thanks
ABS and Traction Control light on . This cancels out cruise control also. Vehicle was repaired at 23562 miles and is out again at 32000 miles. I have been on dealers waiting list for over a month. The part used for the repair must have been defective also. W11aiting time for the repair is entirely too long. Antilock brakes are a safety concern and should be quickly fixed.
Abs control unit is bad at 35725 miles. Part is back ordered until atleast April. Truck is under warranty but they won’t give a loaner until repairs are being made. I’m supposed to drive the unsafe vehicle until then and make payments on it. Dealer has been great. This is a ram problem. This is a known common issue they’ve neglected to remedy. Completely irate.
