Service ABS system/ Electronic break system warning light came the dash control. When that happened in September of 2020 I lost traction control and cruise control on my truck. Since this accrued I’ve had several near misses of accidents do to lose of ABS system. I have not had it looked at by the dealership due to the fact that two family members have the same truck with the exact problems. They took their trucks into dealer. The 2021 was fixed under warranty and the 2017 truck was repaired out of pocket to dealership.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that ABS module warning chime and hydraulic control unit module warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that both modules needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,500.
ABS system failed at 6000 miles. Dealership replaced the brake system I was told. AT 37000 miles just out of the basic warranty it has failed again. Dealership can not do the repairs due to the fact there is not enough replacement parts because of all the trucks are failing in this matter. ABS/TRACTION control failure. I have been waiting four months and told maybe March now. Dealership has been in contact and doing everything possible. Its just so many trucks are failing. I am almost ready to sell it at a loss. I purchased this truck to haul my RV which I don't dare too. Also they welded my steering linkage on a recall and now I can not align my steering with new tires. I am just amazed with this repair on a heavy duty four wheel drive as well. They did not inform me on this cheap repair. Something a kid would do and not tell his dad. Also the cruise control is now not working while there is a abs failure. 6000 miles on first failure of brakes. Truck has now 42000 on it. Im afraid of driving this truck anyplace with traffic. This truck will kill someone with this issue.
Vehicle showing error code C0020-01 which is an issue with the ABS system. This is a known issue among the 2018 Ram Trucks which after searching repair options seems to be happening more frequently than it should. This is a major safety issue that is effecting thousands of vehicles and should be addressed. Repairs require a replacement of the ABS Module and the HCU. The manufacturer should be required to fix this safety issue.
I received a message regarding ABS failure. I had it checked an the OBD and it showed an active C0020-01 code. This is a widespread problem with this vehicle. So much so that FCA issued a bulletin dated 4/28/20, case # S2005000004. Parts are not available. The manufacturer should be held responsible for selling a clearly deficient product. Inoperative ABS is a serious safety issue and should be corrected immediately.
Slightly out of warranty. Suddenly starting getting ABS warning light coming on and warning chime then it goes out and shortly thereafter comes on again, it doesn't quit for many miles. Take to dealer and find out its a failed ABS module and HCU. Also find out through repair history that the ABS module had been replaced at about 14000 miles so this was a second failure. Found out through online sources that there are many failures of these items on but it is mostly on the 2018 vehicles
ABS control module fault code. Seems to be a lot of people having issues with this on 2017 and 2018 year model trucks. A class action would be nice or some sore of solution for ram to make a permanent fix.
Add me to the list of Ram owners with the "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Braking System" error codes, 2018 Ram has 30K miles, the dash lights up with these two errors then goes away, then comes back.
Vehicle has 21000 miles currently. Service ABS warning and anti skid disabled warning are intermittently flashing on cluster repeatedly. Brakes do appear to work but ABS is not I believe based on towing a heavy loaded trailer when coming to a quick stop in the rain on an irregular surface. Luckily the trailer has dual axle electric brakes and I was able to come to a stop safely. I have pulled the DTC code which is C002001 and states general electrical failure. Found reported Star case [XXX] in NHTSA website that was written in 2020. Have not been able to get into a dealer for service and they appear booked out to early to mid October. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
At approximately 21000 miles the ebs/ads warning light came on -the dash. After a few minutes it went out and has been intermittent since, (currently at 39000 miles). During the summer it comes on less often than during winter/rainy season (Oregon). That said there doesn't seem to be an outstanding pattern except when it is wet (on roadways). Have taken to dealership where purchased three times. The first two the warning light was off when I arrived and they couldn't get it to come on. On the third it was on and after talking to the customer service representative I learned that it is a pro lem they have had to deal with many times (the service representative AND a service tech told me that Ram has a service bulletin notice on how and what to fix, it is that common). I asked why it isn't a service recall issue since it affects a pretty obvious safety device -BRAKES- they could not answer.
2018 RAM 2500 ABS module failure in 9/22. Dealer diagnosed & said part was on back order until 12/22. I have called the dealership multiple times checking on availability of the replacement part & each time I am told a different ship date with the current ship date a year out from the start of the problem. RAM seems to be unconcerned their product is endangering their customers with ABS failures which, unless I'm mistaken is a required feature on vehicles. The warning lights & "chimes" are constantly going off which is a distraction for the safe operation of this motor vehicle. The fact this is a know issue & the "fix" in my case is a year out is unacceptable. This component(s) have already been replaced by a recall & now failed is not acceptable. Through online searches, this is a known problem that has drug out too long & posing a risk to the drivers & passengers of these trucks & the traveling public that shares the road with these trucks.
My vehicle has 45347 miles. It started throwing "Service Electronic Braking system " and "Service Antilock Brake system" messages intermittently. While driving on highway, truck would abruptly throw these messages and turn off ABS, EBS and also cruise control. It appears to be a very common safety issue with 2018 RAM 2500. I took my vehicle to the dealer but he couldn't read the codes because they were off and didn't come on. This is a safety issue for driving a one ton pickup truck and especially if driven in wet conditions.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, the ABS and electronic braking system (EBS) warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the ABS pump motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 37,000.
The truck recently started displaying "Service Antilock Brake System" periodically on the information panel. Sometimes it comes on periodically while driving, sometimes only once, sometimes every minute or so and sometimes does not come on at all. We have not had this inspected but looking online appears to be a common problem in these trucks that should be considered a recall. Truck only has 50K miles when this started but this appears to start as soon as 3K miles on some other trucks. This should be a recall as the ABS system is a safety feature that should not be malfunctioning. A second issue that started shortly before this one is the steering wheel shakes when making turns and going over bumps. The truck was serviced for the drag link recall and this started shortly after that and is getting worse with time. Not sure if related to the ABS problem since they started pretty close together or if this is related to the 4WD as it shakes when turning similar to when the 4WD is selected but in this case it is not. This is also a safety issue as you could lose steering.
The LCD touch control screen in the dashboard has been delaminating for several months and is now malfunctioning causing the screen to change turn on and of settings such as heated seats, heat and AC. The screen will not remain off at night due to this malfunction causing an unsafe and distracting bright light coming from the screen remaining on.
My "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Anti-lock Braking System" Lights and alarm has been going off constantly. I have checked with a local diesel repair shop in my hometown and the owner is saying there was a 6 month back order on the "Hydraulic Control Unit" part and all the while my brakes aren't functioning like they should and my truck inspection is now past due.
Anti-lock brakes system warning light comes on intermittently. When this warning light comes on it will also cause cruise control to disengage (if engaged). There is no warning when this will occur. Not sure if the anti-lock brakes are working properly. Dealer has confirmed the Hydraulic control unit and the ABS module is faulty and needs replace.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and ESC warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that there was an audible chime sounding with the message "Service Brakes Soon" displayed. The contact stated that while driving with the cruise control activated, the cruise control unintendedly disengaged. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but the chime was overriding the volume of the radio. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the HCU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a year later, the HCU failed again; however, the dealer where the vehicle was taken for service stated that the part was unavailable. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
ABS and Traction Control warning light keeps intermittently coming on and then a message saying that the Electric Brake system needs serviced. Assumedly if the ABS is not functioning correctly that could lead to a crash. After doing research and reading many forums I see this issue has been reported many times and there is a TSB listed for this. For a truck with on 33,000 miles on it I would not think a critical component like ABS should be failing.
ABS Hydraulic control unit failure. ABS and traction control lights on resulting in no ABS, traction control and cruise control. This is a common issue. The part number 68143491AA has been superceded by 68143491AB of which none are available with no ETA. This is unsafe and unacceptable. Also an expensive part and replacement. This needs to be resolved and reimbursed for the consumer, it's a $60K truck and my retirement vehicle.
The ABS system warning comes on when I hit a bump. The audible warning sounds as well. It happens multiple times during a trip, even a short trip. The cruise control is disabled when this as well. When this happens, the truck is harder to stop. It is a safety concern. There is a recall on 2019 trucks for the same issue. The 2018 trucks need this same recall.
Service Electronic Braking system and Service ABS braking system messages with accompanying chimes occur every 2-3 seconds while driving. This turns off the traction control and abs as well as the speed control. Diagnosis reveals abs control module and hydraulic brake control unit needs to be replaced. Code c0020-01,Vehicle only has 22,000 miles. Parts are discontinued according to dealer site. I started getting a Service Electronic Braking System warning light and bell recently that is intermittent and seems to affect the braking system on the truck. The light will go off and then return, sometimes once and at other times frequently. I searched online for this issue and found this is common among the 2018 and later year RAM trucks. The dealers make repairs under the warranty or charge upwards of $1,000 to change components to clear the warning, sometimes resolving the issue and at other times the warning returns shortly after repairs were made. My truck has just over 22K miles and the warranty (36 months) lapsed in October 2021. I believe RAM has adequate historical information regarding this issue to recall these vehicles and replace the failing components impacting safe braking on these trucks. Some vehicles exhibited this warning with less than 10,000 miles on them. There is plenty of owners complaints available via internet sites, such as the RAM Forum, documenting this safety issue and the lack of support by Chrysler to resolve the problem. FCA RamCares was at no help at all, and kept referring to recall V06, which is the drag link welding of jam nuts, which is also a hack job of a recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light flashed off and on. The contact indicated that when the failure occurred with the cruise control activated, the cruise control feature independently deactivated, causing the vehicle to decelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS pump motor control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced; however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the “Service Electronic Braking System" and the Traction Control icon were illuminated. During the failure the cruise control would independently be deactivated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 9,000. The consumer stated when the vehicle is started and placed into gear, "Service Electronic Braking System, Traction Control, and Anti Lock Icons" all illuminate. The manufacturer stated the vehicle is out of warranty and if fixed it will be at the owner's expense.
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF AND MESSAGE SERVICE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THEN SERVICE ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEM WOULD FLASH IN MESSAGE CENTER. AFTER FLASHING ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE MESSAGES SELF CLEARED AND LIGHTS WENT OUT. EACH TIME HITTING A BUMP THE LIGHT WOULD COME BACK ON, THEN WHEN HIT ANOTHER BUMP LIGHT WOULD GO OUT.
Getting code C0020-01, ABS pump motor control - general electrical failure This item failed within 24 months of purchase and now the replacement is giving me the same failure. Quick web search showing a large amount of there’s issues which controls ABS as well as the traction control system. I understand there’s wearable parts but this should happen twice on a 4 year old vehicle with 50k miles, not to mention the others on the road. This should be a recall item given the frequency of failure
My truck was diagnosed with a faulty ABS pump assembly by a reputable repair shop . I understand by looking on the Web, that this is a common with this year and model truck. The dealer/manufacturer has no safety recall for this problem. As you know, the ABS helps the vehicle steer properly in an emergency braking situation by restoring traction to the tires. Loosing traction will shorten the stopping distance or lose control of the vehicle. In view of this, I do not understand why this component is not considered a safety issue. I would appreciate If your agency can assists me in resolving this issue with the dealer/manufacturer. Thank you, [XXX]. (2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman Cummins diesel) INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the braking system malfunctioned causing the brake pedal to extend to the floorboard while depressed, and the vehicle would not immediately stop. During the failure, the parking brake was used to slow the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the brake line had failed causing brake fluid to leak from the vehicle. The brake line was replaced, and the vehicle was fixed. In addition, later while driving, the ABS warning light was blinking off and on. The dealer diagnosed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.
I have the dreaded Ram 2500 ABS/HCU issue. Light constantly coming on/off, appears to hinder the abs from working, very noticeable when towing the boat in the rain.
At approximately 104,000 miles beginning last September I started intermittently receiving a warning service abs brake system and traction control. It would be more frequent when going down a bumpy road. It continued for a long time and gradually became more constant. Internet searches had suggested fixes of removing the fuse for the abs system, in and of its self creating another safety problem. Ram has issued a bulletin for its mechanics telling them to change the ABS control, so obviously this happens a lot. The invoice for the repair is a attached which says there was an internal short on the abs pump. I note that beginning in 2019 Rams there is recall for a faulty abs pump. Obviously the pump on my truck is also faulty and should be replaced a Ram's cost by a recall. I will attach the invoice if there is a place to do so in this form. Lots of complaints about this issue can be found on line. Some examples are at: https://m.carcomplaints.com/Ram/2500/2018/brakes/service_brakes.shtml and https://www.ramforum.com/threads/2018-ram-4x4-diesel-service-anti-lock-brake-system.153111/page-4
The infotainment screen is malfunctioning. It makes phantom button presses. The most dangerous of all is when I am backing up. Instead of it showing the back-up camera it shows the bed camera. Very dangerous!!!!
System constantly chimes alarm on and off for Service electronic braking system, Service Antilock brake system. The HCU seems to be in short supply because you cannot buy it online or from a dealership they all show out of stock or backordered with no eta of when it will come in. I feel like it only a matter of time before it causes an accident. Seems to be a known issue with RAM. I have a video on my phone of it going off constantly
Abs and traction control light goes on and off shuts the cruise off. Was told that it could lock brakes up and wasn’t safe to drive. Dealer doesn’t have one and the soonest they were going to be shipped was March 15th maybe.
The anti lock brake system module failed in September of 2022 and Ram is still unable to provide a replacement part. The brakes lock and the truck slides easily when pulling a trailer in rain. This is a VERY common problem and should be addressed by a recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts not being available. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
This vehicle has had the hydraulic control unit (HCU) replaced once, and the power steering pump replaced twice, with another issue pending resolution. The vehicle has 74,323 miles, under one owner. The symptoms are that the service ABS and traction control system lights and warning indicators will randomly activate, normally after a rough patch of road. The cruise control will not function, nor will the ABS system while this occurs. The dealerships have no replacements, and no estimates of repair.
ABS hydraulic control unit motor failure, occurred at 25k miles, just outside of 3 year warranty as I bought truck used from a dealer. Intermittent loss of ABS and traction control with no warning, and constant dinging sound while driving as the motor reconnects and disconnects. Currently have 40k miles, have not repaired as from what I’ve heard from other owners and seen online, the repair is $1000-$2000 depending on dealer, and the repair may only last 25k miles if the part installed is of the same build quality. Many owners have resorted to replacing the ABS pump motor with parts from other makes/models of vehicles, as it seems the Mopar part is dealer-only availability at this point. I have found a dealer source that has a new upgraded part number that I will be ordering from and finally replacing, but I have no hopes that the part will last any longer than others have seen. I am only replacing the part as there is a class action lawsuit pending. My hope is that a safety recall be issued, as this is a prevalent problem in the 2017-2018 Ram trucks.
The abs pump and module have failed on my vehicle leaving it without abs, skid control and traction control. This is a very common issue and known by the dealers and manufacturer. This has affected tens of thousands of Ram trucks anywhere from 1 year old to 4 years old. But is only covered under warranty 3 years or 36k miles. It is my opinion this is a safety concern and should be recalled by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
FAILED ANITI LOCK BRAKES MODULE..... I APPLIED THE BRAKES FOR AN EMERGENCY STOP SHORTLY AFTER THE CODE CAME UP FOR ANTI LOCK BRAKE FAILURE AND TRACTION CONTROL. HAD THE CODE LOOKED AT CAME BACK AS FAILED BRAKE MODULE. CODE WAS CLEARED AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. SHORTLY AFTER I WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER INCIDENT WHERE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND AGAIN THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE FAILURE CODE IS ON THE TRUCK. THROUGH INCIDENT THE BRAKES LOCKED UP ALL 4 WHEELS RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL.
ABS light and Tracking control lights flicker on and off constantly. No warnings just came on one day. I have 38,000 miles on my truck not very many for warning lights to come on. I cannot use cruise control as well as about half of my controls. Including tracking control which is now permanently off and is a major hazard! Took it to the dealership in Concord, CA and was told the control module is bad. With no time frame to fix. Probably will be a fix once my warranty is up so the dealership is not liable to fix my truck. A quick search online shows this is a problem for this vehicle.
ABS system failure, recirculation pump failure, code C0020, Ran off road while ABS and traction control was off during wet conditions. Unsafe to drive due to safety failure on ABS.
The electronic brake light and ABS warning goes off intermittent and with hitting bumps. When this happens the cruise control shuts off. This leads me to believe that the antilock brakes and and will malfunction in a panic stop. This is a repeat issue, dealership has replaced the HCU and ABS modules twice within a three year window.
Have 52000 miles on 2018 ram 2500 when the "Check Electronic brake System " appeared on dash and ABS became inoperable. Went to dealer and was told i needed to change Hydraulic Control Unit and it was on back order until Jan 23rd 2023. was Told that instead of a Proportioning valve for the rear the HCU controls Brake pressure to rear brakes and with it inoperable the Rear brakes have a potential to lock up quicker when braking so i have parked the vehicle. symptoms occured about 800 miles ago.
The ABS / HCU ELECTRICAL BRAKE SYSTEM HAS THE SENORS BLINGING AND WANT STOP. Done had this truck in the shop 4 times fir this same problem it quits and starts back but now its on all the time.
Vehicle antilock brake system and traction control system failed causing cruise control to disconnect at highway speed, attempt to stop the vehicle caused an out-of-control skid
Chrysler issued a recall involving the 2019 to 2022 Ram 2500, the 2019 to 2022 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab with GVWR under 10K lbs., and the 2021 to 2022 Dodge Durango due to an ABS Software issue. They have completely ignored the 2018 RAM pickups with an ABS Controller issue. We have had a part on backorder for months and the dealership we work with has 14 of them on backorder. Research on the internet has confirmed hundreds of other RAM owners of 2018's have the same issue. The ABS warning message and ding goes on excessively. In an hour's drive, it might go off 12 to 15 times, warning the ABS system is not operating. It also causes the Cruise Control to cease working. We need some help on this issue.
I am affected by issue under investigation with NHTSA Action Number: PE22012. When driving the vehicle traction control and ABS system will turn off unexpectedly and intermittently.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and other exhaust components. When the vehicle is in a "Regeneration" cycle and the vehicle comes to a stop, it dies about 70% of the time. Causing traffic back ups and nearly a reared collision from another driver. This issue started at 112000 miles and does it 3-6 times daily. It's been in and out of the dealer (Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram Richard Lindema Shop# 385-332-3978 Cell# 801-589-8943) totaling 6 weeks and $22,000 in repair bills and its still not resolved. I see on diesel forums this is a known problem that Dodge doesn't know how to fix.
"Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service ABS System" lights are flashing intermittently and the "ABS" and "Traction Control" lights are on as well. No diminished braking has occurred yet, however the ABS and traction control become disabled when the issue is present. I am currently opening a STAR case with RAM and attempting to schedule a dealer appointment. The issue started at 43,500 miles. This problem appears to be widespread on 2018 RAM 2500/3500 trucks and represents a safety issue, as the braking and traction control mechanisms are disabled when the issue is present.
