Abs light blinking on and off while driving and parked.
The 3rd brake light leaks water into the cab and the water pools up on the floor where electrical modules are located. Which could potentially cause an electrical short and mold forming on and under the carpet liner. This problem has been talked about online on numerous Ram trucks starting around 2012.
Hello, I have been having issues with my 2018 Ram 2500. The Service Traction Control and ABS lights on the dash have been flashing on and off constantly. Along with no Cruise Control when this happens. This has been going on now for about 3500 miles. I am still driving the vehicle due to being my only work truck. I have been doing some research along with talking to the Ram Service Departments and have noticed that this is a very large safety problem that is highly known about that is not being taken care of. Even the service manager I had spoken with is amazed that this has not been a recall. This should most definitely be a recall and should be taken care of before more people get injured or killed.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and towing a trailer, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to stop immediately with an extended braking distance while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred only while towing a trailer. The contact stated that another time the trailer brakes overheated while braking system on the vehicle failed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Like most other owners I too have the annoying ABS failure and traction control lights dinging on and off constantly. So no traction control or ABS. You also lose cruise control We are paying for a recall as the dealers want $2000 to $2500
abs brake failure
ABS brakes module. Failed at 60k miles and has been on back order for almost 2 years. So I have not had ABS brakes in almost 2 years now. Seems to be a major problem. I know of 5 people with the same issue.
abs not working for a year now. dodge has no parts to fix issue not safe to drive and should be a safety re-call on hydraulic control unit.
Our backup camera glitches all the time and doesn’t disengage when it should
Electronic Brake System malfunction (ABS) warning message comes on intermittently with no rhyme or reason.
ABS/traction control intermittently disables Without ABS/traction control while in poor weather conditions it creates a potential for an accident Dealer told me I need a new hydraulic control unit Service ABS and service electronic braking system flash and traction control turns off
-Service antilock brake system -Service Electronic braking system - Cruise control does not work -Alarm bell ringing randomly. ABS and Skid Control warning lights at driver instrument panel cycle on off briefly or extended periods. problem escalated in early 2022 Multiple same dealer interactions actions unsuccessful . Chrysler Cares involved since September 2022. Met with dealer 01/26/2023 “ required part is not available — no estimated date when or even if the part(s) may be available….in the meantime I’m to drive the truck with bell and lights flashing and I’m also to be careful because ABS/antiskid system not working.
The abs module and hydraulic control unit has failed. This means that my safty and others on the road is put at risk because during heavy breaking you can loose control of the vehicle due to the truck anti break system does not work. Also the traction control does not work which also will cause you to loose control.
Anti-lock brake system/ hydraulic control unit has been out for over a year. Paid dealer for part, that is on back order, have to continue to drive vehicle and have no idea when it can be fixed. The lights and alarm continuously go off making it incredibly unsafe to drive because they NEVER turn off and are totally random. I’ve been tolerating this for over a year and was told to file a complaint because many others are dealing with the same.
Abs control module. Service electric brakes soon. Traction control
Starting March of 2022 I began having intermittent alarms for the anti-lock brake system needing to be serviced. Often the alarm would come on and off going over small bumps in the road. With time the issue became worse and the alarm is on all the time. This affects the vehicles anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and the cruise control. I took my car to a mechanic and they found that both the hydraulic control unit and the anti-lock brake system module need to be replaced. Cost is over $2000, but feel I need to replace to have a safe vehicle as I often pull a trailer.
I have been having intermittent ABS/traction control lights flashing on my dash. When I hooked my truck up to my DTC code reader, it says I have a C0020-21 stored. ABS pump motorcontrol - general electrical failure. I have noticed thousands of complaints on various websites about the same issue. My truck only has 38,000 miles on it. This must be a defective part.....I called and asked my local dealership about this and they said its a very common issue. I believe it is a safety issue because it reduces the trucks ability to stop quickly, it may cause my truck to swerve in an emergency stop situation, and if this happens while the cruise control is on it turns the cruise control off unexpectedly. This happened to me in a bad rainstorm and caused my truck to swerve into the next lane over. I asked the dealer when they could get to repairing it and thy told me it would be months before they could repair it and it would cost approximately 1,800 dollars. They told me to just keep driving it with the error codes active. This is ridiculous. This part needs to be recalled because it affects thousands of vehicles and it is unsafe. My vehicle is available for inspection.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while her husband was driving approximately 25 MPH the steering wheel lost functionality, the vehicle veered to the left off of the roadway. The vehicle collided with a reinforced cinder block wall on the driver's side front end, the hood impacted first and was crushed with additional damage to the undercarriage. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The airbags did not deploy. The husband was transported from the scene by ambulance to a hospital. The husband received cuts to left side of head and left side of face, additionally the contact had minor cuts to the left side of her face and bruised left forearm. The police were on scene and an incident report was written. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot and later towed to a collision repair center. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 19V021000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
HCU, ABS Modules. Inspection Is Available Apon Request. Concern For Safety With Hard Brake Pedal, Not Stopping As Required. Modules Do Not Respond To Hard Braking Like Described. Speedometer Not Reading. I Changed The Cables To The Wheel Hub With Still No Response. 42,600 miles In It, No Accidents. Problem Started 8mo. Have Not Driven For 3mo Now. Safety Not Confident. No Dealer, Mechanics Only A An Advanced Code Reader Scanner. Engine Light, ABS, Car/Lane Symbol Display.
The ABS module and Hydraulic control unit are faulty causing an intermittent activation of the ABS warning light and Electronic Braking warning lights. When the lights come on the cruise control will disengage, if set, and cannot be reset until the light goes out. The length of time the lights stay on vary from a few seconds to a few hours, to always on. When in park the light can be made to go off if the brake pedal is pressed excessively hard. There is an ABS error code stored which is C0020-01 This is a known problem with Chrysler as they have produced TSB #[XXX] for this issue. This is a known faulty part that could cause an accident due to ABS malfunction. I feel Chrysler should be forced to remedy this issue for all 2017 and 2018 Ram owners since it is a safety issue. My vehicle is a 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman with less than 33000 miles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Service Lights on dash. Service Antilock brake system, SERVICE electronic braking system. Defective part is HCU, hydraulic control unit. Part has been unavailable for over a year and part availability always pushed back on estimated arrival date. This safety issue needs to be addressed with a recall.
Constant ABS and ESC failure. truck experiences constant ABS failure. Warning for ABS and Electronic Stability control continually flashes and sends audible alarm when vehicle is operating, multiple times per MINUTE (sometime 20+ times per MINUTE). Vehicle was taken to dealer. Upon arrival at dealer was already aware of the issue and stated this was a known and common problem and that ABS module and HCU would need to be replaced, PRIOR to any diagnostic work being completed. Dealer completed diagnostic work and confirmed ABS module and HCU was defective and needed to be replaced at customer cost as Chrysler/Dodge/Ram refused to voluntarily cover/recall this part even though it was widespread known issue. However dealer stated that parts were on National back order and they had a long wait list. Dealer could not give timeframe but stated it would be 6+ months, that was over 1 yr ago. Part still shows as back order. My research has confirmed dealer statement that this is common wide spread issue for this make/model/yr due to defective parts. Any assistance possible would be appreciated at Ram continues to drivers at risk everyday by failing to voluntarily recall part or even make parts available so repair can be completed
ABS, cruise control, stabilitrack and traction control do not function. Constantly ding on and off. HCU/ABS module replaced around 10,000 miles, already out again at 20,000 miles. Part unavailable, eta keeps getting pushed back. Vehicle is not safe to drive. $50,000 yard art.
My hydraulic control unit for my abs system is malfunctioning and allows my brakes to lock up with very little brake pressure applied. The faulty abs/hcu module is a known problem with Chrysler and they refuse to issue a voluntary safety recall and replace the parts. There are also no reputable sources of a replacement part so I am unable to perform the necessary repairs on my own. The module also triggers a repeated loud auditory and visual alert continuously when operating the vehicle that is incredibly distracting to the driver and contributes to an additional unsafe environment for operating the vehicle. Additionally the faulty module also periodically kicks off cruise control uncommitted adding to the unsafe nature of the fault, especially when driving at highway speeds.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control and the ABS warning lights illuminated, and an alarm sounded. Additionally, the brake pedal was soft. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions, and the ABS module was replaced twice; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed. The dealer determined that the ABS module and the HECU needed to be replaced; however, the parts to repair were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the parts were unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown.
ABS and Traction Control warning lamps lit with chime. Vehicle scan shows abs pump failure, confirmed by an independent service center. Loss of antilock braking, traction control, and cruise control.
The antilock brake system has failed and the ABS light is on. There is a C0020 Code stored with a description. ABS Pump Motor Control: General Electrical Failure. Mopar is unable to provide a repair part in a timely manor. According to MOPAR Dealer I need 2 parts with the following part numbers. 68347098AB Anti-Lock Brake System Module 68143491AA Anti-Lock Brake System Hydraulic Control Unit This seems to be a very common failure. My vehicle is just out of factory warranty at 41K miles. While I dont mind paying for the repair, the 68347098AB Anti-Lock Brake System Module is backordered with no ETA. Does not seem safe to continue to operate the vehicle without antilock brakes. Dealer has no ETA as to when this part will be available. I can't just park my truck for an extended period.
This vehicle has faulty or defective ABS braking system. The warning lights and warning chimes have been constantly going off for approx. 2 years. The Dodge/Ram dealerships admits that this is an industry wide defect with 2017 and 2018 Ram 2500 trucks, but say they have no parts to correct the problem. Their suggestion to me was to buy a new truck which is not acceptable or affordable. This was identified by both the dealership and Chrysler as being a safety issue with no resolution from Chrysler or dealer. I use vehicle to transport my grandchildren and livestock and truly doubt my ability to operate safely without the Federally required working ABS system. This is truly a safety issue and an immediate recall is necessary. Ram/Chrysler will not correct issue without recall. I am limited on the use of my vehicle but have no choice as it is my only transportation, thank you.
The ABS light has continuously turned on the last two years of owning the truck. We took it to a mechanic that informed us a recall should be called because it was a common problem that 2018 Ram 2500 have been experiencing. A recall still hasn’t been called even though many people have had the same issue.

The contact's family owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at 48-55 MPH with the vehicle hitched to a tow trailer transporting a vehicle, the rear driver's side wheel inadvertently detached, rolled away, and crashed into the front end of a vehicle that was driving on the opposite direction. The contact engaged the trailer brakes and the vehicle brake pedal to stop his vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. There were no injuries sustained. The contact stated as he was inspecting the rear driver's side wheel, he noticed that the wheel studs were missing. A police report was filed. The vehicle remained at the scene. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V398000 (WHEELS). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. Consumer is providing a link to photos of the incident and photos taken after the incident of the exact studs that failed. In the photos the day of the incident, a mark on the asphalt can be seen where the bare rotor slid to a halt on the side of the road. The other pictures were taken after the ram had been towed and was sitting in a grass field for ~12 days. Consumer saved all the failed studs from the vehicle. Consumer stated will be replacing the rest of the studs from the vehicle and will be saving them to along with a record of which wheel they came from. Consumer has managed to recover the wheel itself, which does not have oblong hole damage.
My issue seems to be a highly reported issue that the manufacture refuses to address. The ABS pump/control/module fails on this model Ram at an alarmingly high rate, causing loss of brakes, or locking up of brakes. I bought this truck just over 3 years ago and the first time it happened was about a year after I bought it with around 26,000 miles on the truck. I took it back to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a bad ABS control module/pump and replaced it under warranty. Since it was a safety issue the dealership even provided me with a free rental vehicle while the truck was being repaired. When the ABS pump/control module goes out the service Electronic brake system message comes up (see picture below) Fast forward about year and a half later and another 25k miles (the truck just hit 50k miles) and the same issue has happened again. The new ABS pump/control module has failed again with only 25k miles since the repair. And this time the truck is no longer in warranty so the dealership will expect me to foot the bill for something they know is a defective part from the factory. Here is the link to google search, if you read the complaints you will see there are thousands of people having the same issue. And many stories of accidents or near accidents because of the brakes failing. https://www.google.com/search?q=2018+ram+2500+abs+issues This is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. If the factory part remains defective, then they need to develop a replacement part that won't FAIL every year or two. My truck just turned 4 years old and has 50k miles on it, which is right at the national average. The truck isn't over used or abused so there is no reason for the ABS to be failing not only on my truck but so many others. Please advise me of how we can remedy this asap. I'll include my contact info below. I can scan the papers from the first warranty repair for the ABS if needed. ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS and alarm started in January 2022 the vehicle only had 21,460 miles on it so I took my 2018 Ram to dealership to get looked at and they diagnosed the faulty part as ABS HCU/MODULE. The vehicle was under warranty so they fixed it for free. October 01 2024 the same thing happened vehicle with 38,000 miles all the lights started flashing and alarming while I was towing my camper I've heard that when this happens it disables cruise control and the trailer braking system. THATS VERY DANGOUS WHEN PULLING A 8,000 POUND CAMPER!! Now I've heard that the part is on back order and 'm lost on what to do.
I am the owner of a 2018 ram truck. this is a 2500 series for wheel drive the ABS module failed approximately two years ago and I have not been able to get Chrysler to provide part for repair. The vehicle has 225,000 miles on it at this time and we are continuing to drive it, the ABS or cruise control or traction control because these are all related to the ABS module/pump
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the defroster was engaged, however, the Automatic Climate Control display independently switched from defrost to A/C due to the delamination of Automatic Climate Control touchpad screen. The contact stated that she manually re-engaged the defroster; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the Automatic Climate Control display needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
Traction control/ABS illuminated on dash board as error codes. When driving at any speed the brakes are grabbing the rotors without touching the pedal. The feel is like tapping on brakes. I've replaced wheel bearing hubs for ABS speed sensors, replaced all speed sensors. Replaced the ABS MODULE and HCU MODULE and to no avail. Chrystler has had the main components on backorder. The error codes are targeting both components ABS and HCU. The Ram community has the same concerns as I do. This issue should be recalled because the ABS and HCU prevent from fish tailing and erratic traction
The ABS and Traction Light come on intermittently. We recently had snow fall and I had to stop quickly, the ABS worked as it should have until the light activated on the dash which disabled the ABS. Luckily I was able to control the vehicle when it started to slide into the on coming lane. It is definitely not safe. As I have seen in numerous complaints this is a well documented problem on the 2018 Ram 2500.
Intermittent alert on ABS and Traction Control warnings. These warnings are not consistent and come on/off. Researched and found numerous issues on this model vehicle for same issue related to ABS/Traction Control pump. Checked the speed sensors, all are working and reporting same speed. Dealer wants 2 days to trouble-shoot and there is no guarantee this will not return. I have owned other vehicles - GMC, Ford, Subaru, etc - none of them have failed on a critical item like ABS/Traction Control.
Was traveling westbound on highway when I got a chime and notification, "Service Antilock Brake System" and then another chime, "Service Electronic Braking System". The notification went away and both came on again. I was approaching a red light and when I applied brakes I had none. I swerved to the right and drove into a ditch. I was able to put it in 4 wheel drive and get out. While parked I started looking on YouTube and found a mechanic that advised pulling the 40 amp fuse to disable the ABS system. I did so and turned around and drove slowly home with brakes working but notification on. There were no I,juries or damage but had I hit the Fiat, with my truck, there would have been 4 dead. I notified Ram and asked why there is no recall as I looked it up and there are many incidence of this exact problem!
Our truck has less than 25000 miles on it and the transmission has been consistently slipping in high gears for about the last 3000 miles. Our friends had the same truck with 46000 miles and their transmission just failed. We have read about many instances with the same transmission going out prematurely. Our truck is available for inspection. There have been no warning lights in the truck.
abs trailer brakes traction control works on and off
The ABS warning light intermittently comes on and turns off. After searching on-line, it seems that it is an ongoing problem with many others. I'm afraid it could cause a serious accident. I had the same problem about 10,000 miles ago and took it to Cape Coral Dodge to check it. They repaired it but here it has cropped up again. Every time the ABS Warning light goes off an alarm sounds and it drives you crazy. There really should be a recall on this to resolve the defect.
My 2018 RAM 2500 doesn't even have 23,000 mile on it, however went out of the 3/36000 in June of 2021. Currently I will be driving along and out of the blue the ABS/EBS "Service Breaking System" and traction control will light up and flash and ding. It will sometime go away quickly, however other times it keeps flashing the warning, and dinging upwards a minute. As seen on the site this is a very common issue with the 2018 RAM 2500, and it should be a Safety Concern and part of a National Recall. Many people use the 2500 to pull trailers and the like, and to loose any safety aspect relative braking is simply unacceptable and a dangerous situation for the owners and others on the roadways.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that after two weeks of not driving the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact jumpstarted the vehicle and made an appointment with the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. However, the dealer replaced the battery. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on two other occasions; however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
ABS and Traction control lights on dash light up sporadically (dings on and off continuously) and cruise control suddenly turns off. No warning and can be completely random. This is part of the ABS pump control module issue commonly reported but no recall. Attempted to have it repaired, multiple parts have been tried (used and remanufactured, because not new parts are available.
The truck's warning lights indicate ABS module, HCU module, and cruise control failure. The trailer brake controller, ASB system, and cruise control does not function. The truck's warning lights and chime have been going on and off for over 2 years.
The trucks warning lights indicated the ASB module, HCU module, and cruise control failed. The trailer brake controller, ABS system, and cruise control fail to function properly. The warning lamps and buzzer have been constantly going on and off for the last two years.
Approximately January 2022, several warning lights illuminated on my dash in conjuction with a warning chime. The warning lights and chime occurred intermittently. My truck was taken to the dealership with only 9710 miles on the odometer. A scan showed a code of C0020-01 ABS pump motor control general electrical failure. Approximately 5 months later a new part arrived and was installed on the truck. There were no issues until February 2025 when the dash warning lights and chime reappeard similar to the first occurrence. The odometer reading now at 16.5K. I have contacted the dealership that performed the original work and they informed me that there is currently no repair for this issue. Having no ABS braking system is a major safety issue, especially when pulling a large travel trailer.
