PURCHASED 2007 SATURN AURA IN JULY OF 2008. IMMEDIATELY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL. THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS INCLUDED; THE CAR NOT STARTING UP TWICE IN THE DEAD OF WINTER RESULTING IN IT BEING TOWED ONCE AND JUMPED ONCE, THE BRAKES SQUEAK UNBELIEVABLY LOUD AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, THE ENGINE STALLS WHEN APPLYING MORE PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE MOTOR IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT BLEW OUT, THE ALARM REMOTE WILL LOCK THE DOORS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT, WHEN PUT IN THE PARKING GEAR THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD WHEN MY FOOT WAS RELEASED OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL RESULTING IN THE CAR BEING TOWED, WHEN PUT IN PARK ON A SLIGHT DECLINE THE CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE BUT ONLY ROLLED FORWARD. THIS RESULTED IN THE CAR BEING TOWED AGAIN. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS TOWED I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL AND HAD TO PAY FOR THE GAS WHICH WAS AN EXTRA EXPENSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH. THE POWER OUTLET FOR CELL PHONE CHARGERS DID NOT WORK SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS TOWED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START UP, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE STALLING." THIS WAS THE RESULT EACH TIME. HOWEVER, A SHIFTER CABLE WAS REPLACED, BUT DID NOT HELP AS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE CAR NOT GOING INTO REVERSE. ALSO WHEN THE CAR WAS TOWED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT REVERSE OR PARK, THEY SAID "COULD NOT DUPLICATE." *TR
THE BACK BRAKES LIGHTS COME ON WHEN NOT IN USE. THIS IS MORE OBVIOUS WHEN IT IS DARK BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THE BRAKE LIGHT IN THE BACK WINDOW. AND WHEN YOU BRAKE THE LIGHT GOES OFF. VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALER WON'T COVER IT. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I HAVE ACTUALLY THOUGHT OF SELLING THE CAR BECAUSE ITS SO FRUSTRATING. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND ARE UNPREDICTABLE. THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY REPLACED THE BRAKE MODULE ONCE, BUT WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON-GOING. MY RESEARCH HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND ONE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THE CHEAP CONNECTORS IN THE BRAKE MODULE CORRODE AND CAUSE MAY ISSUES: 1. THE BRAKE LIKES WILL OFTEN STAY ON WHILE NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE. THEN THEY WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN, BUT IS ALSO INCONSISTENT AT TIMES. THE LIGHTS SIMPLY ARE NOT RELIABLE AND DO NOT WORK AS THEY SHOULD. 2. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT FUNCTION DUE TO FAULTY BRAKE ENGAGEMENT SIGNAL. 3. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT THE GEAR SELECTOR DUE TO THE SANE ISSUE. YOU MUST PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKE TO GET IT TO SHIFT AND THIS LEADS TO ABNORMAL SOUNDS AND OPERATION OF THE BRAKE LEVER. WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT WE DON'T FEEL IT ACCEPTABLE TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO FIX AN ONGOING PROBLEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS LED TO US NOT USING THE VEHICLE MUCH DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT AFTER 6 YEARS. THE SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS NOT TO REPLACE THE MODULE, BUT RATHER GREASE THE CONNECTORS. SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY CLEAR CAUSE (REPLACE CHEAP CONNECTORS WITH ONES THAT WILL LAST AND NOT CORRODE... NOT REPLACE MODULE WITH ANOTHER INADEQUATE ONE). PLEASE RECALL. THANK YOU. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS SATURN WITH 32K ON IT, TWO DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED OVERHEATING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO FIX THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REWIRE A FEW THINGS. ONE MONTH AFTER THAT HAPPENED, I NOTICED WHEN I TURNED I FELT A POPPING IN THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I AGAIN CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY HAD ME BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND STATED SOMETHING WAS LOOSE IN THE AXEL SHAFT AND THEY 'FIXED' THE POPPING BY TIGHTENING IT UP. THREE MONTHS FOLLOWING THE ABOVE EVENTS, I NOTICED THE POPPING STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT BALL JOINT, RACK, AND PINION. I DROVE AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND IMMEDIATELY HAD TO TURN AROUND AND RETURN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. AT THAT POINT THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE MONTHS STRAIGHT. THEY SAY THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN DOWN. EVERY TIME I CALLED FOR AN UPDATE THEY ALWAYS HAD A DIFFERENT ANSWER. I HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS ON THIS CAR 3 TIMES NOW AND IT ONLY HAS 60K. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG COIL BUT YET IT CONTINUES TO COME ON. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING CONSTANTLY IN 5TH AND 6TH GEAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM PRODUCT AGAIN. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE THE DAY I BROUGHT IT HOME. MY HUSBAND WAS CALLED TO DEPLOY TO IRAQ AND WE HAD A 2 WEEK OLD BABY SO WE HAD TO GET A BIGGER CAR BEFORE HE LEFT. WE ONLY HAD 3 DAYS WHEN HE WAS CALLED UP TO LEAVE (HE WAS INACTIVE RESERVE AND WAS CALLED UP). I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO RESEARCH THIS CAR BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT. IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN I WOULD NEVER EVEN CONSIDER THIS CAR. READING INTO IT NOW, IT SEEMS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. *TR
THE FRONT AIR DAM ON MY 2007 SATURN AURA HAS BROKEN OFF THE CAR. I HAD VISITED ALLDATADIY.COM AND FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN CAMPAIGN 07215 DATED AUG 2007. WHEN I HAD MY CAR IN FOR STATE INSPECTION IN MARCH 2008, THE DEALER(SATURN OF SYRACUSE) TOLD ME THE PART WOULD BE REPLACED AS THEY HAD SEEN OTHER AURA'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WERE ORDERING PARTS. WHEN I CHECKED BACK WITH THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT GENERAL MOTORS DECIDED NOT TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT PART. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM ON OTHER GM CARS. *TR
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES AND ROTORS BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
2007 AURAS BRAKES ALL 4 ROTORS AND PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE WITH WARPING GROOVES CUT INTO ROTORS AND RUST PROBLEMS,ONLY 30000 MILES ON CAR. SERVICE MGR. SAYS MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT WONT FIX IT.MGR.SAID IT WILL HAPPEN OVER AND OVER UNTIL AURAS BRAKES ARE REDESIGNED ITS ALSO A PROBLEM ON THE 08 MODEL. I THINK BRAKES ARE OF THE HIGHEST IMPORTANCE IN SAFETY AND A MANUFACTURER SHOULD MAKE SURE TO CORRECT ON GOING PROBLEMS, GOD FORBID THESE BRAKES FAIL FROM POOR DESIGN. *TR
I OWN A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 132K. I HAVE MULTIPLE BRAKE ISSUES I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES 4 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2007. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT WITH THIS MILEAGE THE AVERAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN TO REPLACE THE BRAKES TWO TIMES AND THAT FOUR TIMES WAS UNHEARD OF. I REQUEST THAT AN INVESTIGATION BE DONE ON THIS SITUATION. I SEE FROM OTHER POSTING THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JS

THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I LEFT MY LIGHTS ON ACCIDENTALLY OVER NIGHT, KILLING THE BATTERY. AFTER JUMPING THE BATTERY WITH STANDARD CABLES, DONE BY A MECHANIC FRIEND, MANY OF MY ELECTRICAL FEATURES ARE OUT OF SERVICE MAINLY THE RADIO/CD PLAYER IS POWERLESS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LAKELAND SATURN DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND THAT I MUST HAVE FRIED THE RADIO ITSELF, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING AND AM WONDERING IF THIS PARTICULAR MODEL HAS A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
SATURN AURA HYBRID 2007 VEHICLE NOT A YEAR OLD YET HAVING APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. CAR PRESENTED LAST FRIDAY WITH AN ENGINE NOISE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY THE TENSION CORD HAD WRAPPED AROUND THE AXEL AND DAMAGED THE CV JOINT CAUSING EXPENSIVE DAMAGE. *TR
THE CAR'S BRAKES STARTED MAKING FUNNY NOISES AND WHEN DEPRESSED THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD VIBRATE. SATURN SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND RE-SURFACED THEM AT 13,000 MILES. AT 35,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED TO DO THE EXACT THING. HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM THIS TIME AND SAID THEY WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS 65% OF THE BRAKE PAD LIFE YET. THE FAILURE WAS PREMATURE AND CORPORATE WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE WAS BAD METAL INVOLVED IN THE ROTORS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT BEING DEPRESSED AND THEY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE SPORADICALLY AND INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
BOTH IN 2008 AND 2010 WAS FORCED TO HAVE REPAIRS MADE TO STEERING TO REPLACE POWER STEERING GEARS DUE TO GROANING/GRINDING WHEN TURNING. THE CAR AGAIN HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. CONCERNED ABOUT STEERING FAILURE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE AND THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THE NOISE AND THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE STEERING COLUMN SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE POWER STEERING COLUMN.
UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION VEHICLE BECOMES UNSTABLE WHEN PASSING (OVER CROWN OF ROAD) OR UPON ENCOUNTERING PARALLEL OR DIAGONAL JOINT IN ROAD SURFACE. *TR
DRIVING A 2001 SATURN AURA XR ABOUT 30-35 MPH WHEN TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME WAS STOPPED, APPLIED BRAKES, THERE WERE NONE. HIT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT 30-35 MPH AND NO AIR BAGS EITHER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD CLICKING NOISES. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL DRASTICALLY VIBRATED WHILE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES AND THEY STATED THAT THE STABILIZER BAR FAILED. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WAS NORMAL AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON MAY 29, 2008 AND THEY STATED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE STEERING. THE STEERING WILL BE REPAIRED ON JUNE 9, 2008. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,426 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,901.
ON BOARD COMPUTER SENDS MESSAGE TO "SERVICE AIRBAG," PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT THEN PROCEEDS TO INDICATE THAT AIR BAG IS OFF -WITH OR WITHOUT PERSON IN SEAT. HAPPENS INTERMEDIATELY. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER, BUT WHERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE OR DID NOT HAVE A "CODE " TO RESET AND WOULD HAVE TO JUST "SEE IF IT KEEPS HAPPENING." CONSIDER THIS DANGEROUS IF IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. UPDATED 07-10-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE REPAIR, STILL DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. UPDATED 07/18/13

I PURCHASED A 2007 SATURN AURA XR NEW FROM SATURN OF THORNTON RD. IN MARCH 2008. BEGINNING AT PURCHASE I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED, 2 WINDOW MOTORS REDONE, STEERING PARTS ORDERED AND PUT ON DOOR HANDLES REPLACED, AND I AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR MORE STEERING PARTS AND DOOR HANDLES TO BE ORDERED. I MAKE MONTHLY TRIPS TO THIS DEALERSHIP TO HAVE SOMETHING REPAIRED...PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 SATURN AURA XE. I DISCOVERED A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING FOR 1 HOUR IN POURING RAIN, I STARTED HEARING A WATER SLOSHING NOISE IN MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I DETERMINED THAT WHEN WATER/RAIN WAS POURED ONTO THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR, OVER HALF THE WATER WOULD FIND ITS WAY INTO THE DOOR, COLLECT IN THE DOOR, AND WOULD ONLY DRAIN OUT WHEN THE DOOR WAS OPENED (THERE IS A HOLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, UNDER THE MOLDING THAT WATER CAN DRAIN OUT OF). I CALLED MY SATURN DEALERSHIP AND THEN CONFIRMED THEY HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE ONCE BEFORE. THEY ORDERED A NEW OUTSIDE WINDOW SEAL PART AND I JUST HAD IT INSTALLED. I WILL WRITE AGAIN IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED THE PART, THAT THE PART # HAD A REVISION ON IT (MEANING THAT THE ORIGINAL PART MUST OF HAD A DEFECT AND WAS REPLACED WITH A FIXED PART). I AM WRITING THIS TO INFORM ALL AURA OWNERS TO TEST YOUR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO SEE IF YOU HAVE THIS ISSUE ALSO. IF I HAD NOT HEARD THE SLOSHING NOISE, THE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE GONE UNDETECTED AND PROBABLY RUINED THE ELECTRONICS INSIDE MY DOOR EVENTUALLY, NOT TO MENTION CAUSING MOLD. I TESTED THIS BY USING A GARDEN HOSE AND SPRAYING THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FOR 30 SECONDS, THEN OPENING THE DOOR AND SEEING HOW MUCH WATER FLOWED OUT THE HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, THEN REPEATING FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. I WAS NOTICING THAT 50X MORE WATER WAS FLOWING INTO MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. I WOULD BET THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH LOTS OF AURAS AFFECTED, BUT THIS IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT NORMALLY WOULD GO UNDETECTED UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WASN'T NORMAL AND FELT LIKE I DIDN'T HAVE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I MADE NUMEROUS STOPS ALONGSIDE THE ROAD TO CHECK TIRES AND EVENTUALLY MY STEERING WHEEL WAS CROOKED EVEN THOUGH I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. THE STEERING FELT LIKE IT GAVE OUT OR SLIPPED DURING CERTAIN TURNS AND GOING STRAIGHT. I BROUGHT CAR INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE BOLTS ON THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED REPAIR. UNSURE IF THEY FELL OUT OR WHAT BUT VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. *TR
I HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH MY 2007 SATURN AURA. I HAVE HAD MY DASH GO OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON SATURN COULDN'T FIND OUT WHY IT JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I ESTIMATING AROUND 13,000 MILES I HAD TO HAVE MY THERMOSTAT REPLACED. THE CAR WENT DEAD AND WOULDN'T START HAD TO BE TOWED SATURN SAID THE BATTERY WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE HEATED SEATS. WHILE ON MY WAY FROM WORK AT 11PM ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY DEC 9 2007 THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT CAUGHT FIRE BURNED A HOLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SEAT A LITTLE BIT BIGGER THAN A QUARTER. WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY I WAS UNABLE TO SIT IN THE SEAT. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE I DID PANIC MY REAR WAS BURNED BUT THANK GOD TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. WHEN I TURN THE HEATER OFF AND THE CAR A POLICE OFFICER WAS ON THE SCENE AND CHECKED THE CAR OVER BEFORE THE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED. HE STATED TO THE ONSTAR HELP THAT THE FIRE DID BURN FROM THE INSIDE OUT IT DID SMELL LIKE ELECTRICAL AND THAT IT APPEARED TO HAVE SUFFOCATED OUT AFTER THE HEATER WAS TURNED OFF. SATURN COULD ONLY TELL ME THAT THE SEAT WOULD BE REPLACED AND THAT ENGINEERS WOULD BE CALLED. I THANK GOD THIS WASN'T WORSE BUT I WAS LEFT VERY TRAUMATIZED AND TRIED TO SPEAK TO THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP BUT HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. MY SATURN EXPERIENCE IS REALLY TAKING A DOWNWARD DIVE. *TR
RANDOM BUT PERSISTENT NOISE COMING FROM FRONT SUSPENSION ON UNEVEN SURFACES AND OVER BUMPS. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND LEFT FRONT STRUT MOUNT ASSEMBLY AND HAVE MADE SEVERAL ADJUSTMENTS BUT THE NOISE IS STILL VERY APPARENT. THEY HAVE HAD 7 OPPORTUNITIES TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BUT ARE NOW SAYING THAT THEY DO NOT HEAR THE SAME NOISE THAT THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR. SINCE THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE HAS NOT BEEN PIN-POINTED I DO NOT KNOW THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
UNDERDOOR ROCKER PANEL SEPARATION FROM CAR ON BOTH SIDES RESULTING IN A 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH GAP THAT ALLOWS WATER, CARBON MONOXIDE OR ANY TYPE OF LIQUID ROAD DEBRIS TO ENTER THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON A 2007 SATURN AURA XR, PURCHASED ON 30 APR 2007. THE CAR PRESENTLY HAS 4020 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. COMPLAINTS TO SATURN CORP. AND MY LOCAL RETAILER HAVE RESULTED IN NO ACTION TO DATE. A COMPLAINT TO THE BBB IS PRESENTLY IN PROGRESS; HOWEVER, I AM REPORTING THIS TO THE NHTSA BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT AS THE CAR GROWS OLDER AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WEARS, A POSSIBLE LEAK OF CARBON MONOXIDE GAS CAN ENTER THE CABIN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH. THIS DEFECT CAN BE SEEN ON MANY SATURN AURA AUTOMOBILES. *TR

HE STATED THAT IF HE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD SHUT OFF FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS AND WOULD COME BACK ON INDEPENDENTLY. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT VISIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HE ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TWICE. THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE ALSO REPLACED. IN DECEMBER OF 2009 A GMC FIELD ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR BEING PRESS DOWN, RESULTING IN MY CAR BEING NEARLY REAR ENDED AT OVER 50 MPH. SIMILAR NEAR MISSES HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. WHEN TRYING TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES, MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY, OR WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR TO QUICKLY GAIN SPEED AFTER SLOWING DOWN MOMENTARILY, THERE IS FREQUENTLY A ONE TO TWO SECOND LAG BETWEEN THE PRESS OF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE RESPONSE OF THE CAR. I HAVE MENTIONED IT TO MY SATURN DEALER WHO COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE SAME COMPLAINT ON NUMEROUS WEB SITES (EG. SATURNFANS.COM) AND AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVE-BY-WIRE/6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COMBINATION. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY BOTH THE DEALER AND MY OWN RESEARCH THAT A DELAY WITH THIS TYPE OF SYSTEM ISN'T UNUSUAL, BUT I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE AS THE PROBLEM IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS. PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT STAYS LIT WHEN SEAT IS OCCUPIED. THIS DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF AN AIRBAG AND IS CERTAINLY UNSAFE. *JB
MY 2007 SATURN AURA HAD BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP APPROX. 1.5 WEEKS AGO BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON THE NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER 20, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30 PM, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AT A STOP SIGN. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND THE CAR REVVED, SURGED FORWARD THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY CAR HIT CAR #2 WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT CAUSED CAR #2'S WHEEL AXLE TO SNAP IN HALF AND SEVERE DAMAGE TO CAR #2'S FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER AND DOOR THAT THE CAR NEEDED TO BE TOWED AWAY. I WAS TAKEN AWAY IN AN AMBULANCE. ONSTAR CONFIRMED TWO CODES AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT: #1--ABS/TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION AND #2--TAKE THE CAR TO A SERVICE CENTER AS IT MAY EXHIBIT ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR WHEN DRIVING AND/OR STOPPING. THIS SATURN AURA HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE GETTING IT IN OCTOBER 2006. IT HAS JUST OVER 14,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUE PLUS REPLACING A BROKEN ENGINE MOUNT, REPLACING A LEAKING ENGINE GASKET, RESURFACING THE BRAKE ROTORS AT 7,000 MILES, MULTIPLE REPAIRS TO A NON-FUNCTIONING ONSTAR SYSTEM, AND CONSISTENT ISSUES WITH THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE TIRE INFLATION MONITOR (I EVENTUALLY HAD THE TIRES FILLED WITH NITROGEN). THIS CAR IS A HAZARD. BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE, I HAVE OBTAINED LEGAL COUNSEL. THE SATURN WILL BE EVALUATED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURES RECURRED EVERY YEAR SINCE 2007, AT THE ONSET OF WINTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE AIRBAG WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE AIRBAG WIRING AND THE SEAT REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED DUE TO THE ONBOARD COMPUTER NOT CAPTURING OR NOT READING THE FAILURE WHEN NEEDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,100. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AT 13,000 MILES I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN BINGHAMPTON ON 8/14/07 WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE CAR DOESN'T HANDLE RIGHT, THAT IT WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND THAT THE STEERING MAKES NOISE. IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THEY SAID THEY TEST DROVE IT AND HEARD NOTHING. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. I CALLED THEM BACK WITH A TIRE PROBLEM (THE SIDE WALL HAD A HUGE BULGE IN IT) I THOUGHT THIS WAS WHY THE CAR DIDN'T HANDLE GOOD. THE BINGHAMPTON STORE DIDN'T HAVE A TIRE. I TOOK THE CAR TO SATURN OF WYOMING TO HAVE THE DEFECTED TIRE REPLACED. I ASKED TO CHECK THE STEERING. THEY FOUND SOMETHING WRONG AND REPLACED THE STEERING KNUCKLE JOINT. THEN THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH HANDLING AND A HUMMING NOISE. THEY FOUND AND REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING. AGAIN THE CAR HANDLING GOT BAD AND IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP BEING CHECKED. I CALLED SATURN AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE CAR CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT GOES WHERE EVER IT WANTS, YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY STEER THE CAR TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE BECAUSE I ASKED THEM TO TOW IT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT. *TR

I HAD MY 2007 AURA FOR 1 WEEK WHEN DRIVING A FREEWAY, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT PAST 4TH GEAR. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN FOUND STRANGE PARTICLES IN THE GEARS. HE DESCRIBED IT AS SMALL WHITE PLASTIC PIECES. NO EXPLANATION WHERE THEY CAME FROM OR WHAT THEY WERE. HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. THE AURA, WHILE NOT LEAVING ME STRANDED HAS ALWAYS HAS A "POLTERGEIST", LIGHTS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF AND NO REPAIRS NEEDED, ETC. I HAS ALWAYS IDLED STRANGELY, AS IF IT MIGHT SHUT OFF AT A STOP AND FELT AS IF MY RPM'S INCREASED BUT NO SPEED DURING ACCELERATION. NOW, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, WHICH FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE (VERY HARD JERKING DURING SHIFTING AND DOWN SHIFTING),THE CAR WON'T START AFTER FUELING. THE VEHICLES HAS HAD A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM, DESPITE MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS OF THE MODULE ALLEGEDLY RESPONSIBLE. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR WILL TOGGLE TO AN OFF STATUS DESPITE THE PRESENCE OF AN ADULT PASSENGER, THIS BEHAVIOR WILL OCCUR WITHOUT NOTICE AND WITH NO CHANGE IN THE PASSENGER'S POSITION. ADDITIONALLY IF THERE IS NO PASSENGER THE PRIMARY DRIVER DASHBOARD AND INFORMATION CENTER WILL INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE MAIN AIRBAG SYSTEM ILLUMINATING THE AIRBAG ICON, ALONG WITH A MESSAGE TO "SERVICE AIR BAG". THIS WILL OCCUR ON VEHICLE START OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT WILL AT RANDOM TIMES TURN OFF, ONLY TO COME ON A FEW MOMENTS LATER. IT MAY STAY OFF FOR DAYS OR WEEKS AT A TIME BUT WILL ULTIMATELY RETURN. *TR
INCOMPATIBILITY OF ON-BOARD GARAGE OPENER SYSTEM WITH MY GARAGE DOOR, RESULTING IN BEING ASKED TO BUY A $38.00 CONVERTER KIT FROM LEAR. LATER, THROUGH THE INTERVENTION OF A FRIEND WHO IS A GM PLANT MANAGER, HE WAS ABLE TO GET MY $38.00 CREDITED TO MY CARD. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT IT TOOK HIS INTERVENTION TO GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED. THE DEALER HAD NO FIX (NOT EVEN AN EXPLANATION) FOR WHY THE IN-CAR UNIT WOULDN'T WORK, BUT INSTEAD REFERRED ME TO A LEAR 800 NUMBER, WHERE I BOUGHT THE CONVERTER UNIT. PERHAPS GM CAN ANNOUNCE THAT THEY WILL PROVIDE THE CONVERTER UNIT AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER IF THEY EXPERIENCE THE SAME INCOMPATIBILITY PROBLEM. *TR

WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 5000 MILES THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WENT OUT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE LIGHT WENT OUT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN OFF AND ON BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER FIND A CODE. RECENTLY IT BEGAN DOING IT AGAIN QUIET OFTEN AND WAS REALLY INTERMITTENT. I TRIED ONSTAR DIAGNOSTICS BUT EVERY TIME I'D PUSH THE ONSTAR BUTTON THE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND A CODE. I TOOK IT TO OUR CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY AND THEY CALLED ME TODAY SAYING IT'S A BAD PASSENGER DETECTION MODULE. LOOKING AT WWW.ARFC.ORG'X WEB SITE THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF THESE VEHICLES. SINCE THERE'S BEEN NO RECALL. 2007 SATURN AURA WITH A SLIGHT GRADE PROBLEM CUSTOMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD START TO STUMBLE AND WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT AS SOON AS IT SHOULD**CC THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE APPROACHED A SLIGHT GRADE IN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD STUMBLE AND NOT DOWNSHIFT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY A MECHANIC THAT THE MECHANIC STATED HE WOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A CALIBRATION FIX OR RECALL.
