2007 SATURN AURA'S BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO ON. WHEN YOU SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN THE VEHICLE OR PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO QUICKLY SHIFTING FROM PARK, IT MUST MESS UP A SWITCH OR A SENSOR. AFTER SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES THE NEXT TIME YOU PRESS THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT LIGHT. OCCASIONALLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY COME ON, HOWEVER, WHEN ONE APPLIES PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE LIGHTS WILL THEN GO OFF AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER AND COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS NOTIFYING OTHER DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLES DECELERATION. I AM NOT SURE IF ANYTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM I'M STILL HAVING IT. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR EVERY TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RAPIDLY PRESSED. I HAVE DONE WEB BASED RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING IN MY SATURN AURA 2007 CAR. PLANNING TO TAKE IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT HAVE TRIP SCHEDULED MONDAY OCT 4, 2010. *TR
SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE APPEARS. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES IN LAST TWO WEEKS. FIRST TIME, PASSENGER WAS IN SEAT AND ABOUT 2 MINUTES AFTER AIR BAG WAS "ON", THE CHIME AND MESSAGE THAT IT WAS NEEDING SERVICE. SECOND TIME, IMMEDIATELY AFTER PASSENGER EXITED CAR, THE CHIME AND MESSAGE, MESSAGE REMAINED ON FOR THE REMAINING 20 MINUTES OF DRIVE. THIRD TIME, AFTER CAR WAS IN MOTION, MO PASSENGER. TOOK THAT CAR TO A GM DEALER FOR REPAIR, WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS NOT A COVERED REPAIR. I DID NOT GET IT REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD NOT COME OUT OF MY POCKET TO REPAIR IT. *TR
1.NO EVENT. MY WIFE AND I WERE RUNNING ERRANDS ONE DAY AND WE HEARD A LOUD CRACK. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. 2. THE DRIVER SEAT WAS LOOSE ON THE LEFT SIDE AND I COULD MOVE THE REAR LEFT OF THE SEAT BACK QUITE EASILY. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND THE BACK LEFT MOUNTING OF THE SEAT BOTTOM TO BE BROKEN . I COULD LIFT THE SEAT UP QUITE EASILY. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT WAS STILL SECURE. 3. THE ENTIRE SEAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST OF THE REPLACEMENT WAS ABOUT $850. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING DAY OR NIGHT AND WHEN PEDAL IS DEPRESSED LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. MUST DRIVE WITH FOOT DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN OFF. THIS IS SERIOUS AS THE DRIVER BEHIND THINKS THAT I AM RIDING THE BRAKES AND THEN WHEN I DO NEED TO BRAKE THERE ARE NO BRAKE LIGHTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WAS VERY HARD TO HANDLE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT THE STEERING HAD TO HANDLE WITH FORCE TO MAINTAIN THE TURN WITHOUT CAUSING A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE PASSENGER DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE, BUT HE SHOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,446.
PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR CYCLES ON/OFF EVERY TIME THE PASSENGER SHIFTS IN THEIR SEAT. THE DEALER WANT $1,200+ TO REPAIR THIS $1 PART AS THE SYSTEM IS MIS-DESIGNED. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL LIKELY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
1DRIVING VEHICLE WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGER IN THE CAR. STOP TO LET PASSENGER OUT AT THEIR DESTINATION. PASSENGER GETS OUT OF THE CAR. A FEW SECONDS AFTER PASSENGER EXITS, THE CHIMES GO OFF AND "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" INDICATORS LIGHT UP AND REMAIN ON TIL VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. VEHICLE WAS NOT PUT INTO PARK WHEN DROPPING THE PASSENGER OFF, AND DOORS WERE UNLOCKED FROM SWITCH. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS. *TR
WE NOTICED A "SERVICE AIR BAGS" MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD. ALSO THE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED "OFF" EVEN WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF A FORMER SATURN DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A "SHORT IN THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE." TECHNICIAN STATED THE AIR BAG ON PASSENGER SIDE WOULD LIKELY NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. REPAIR INVOLVING REPLACEMENT OF THE "SWITCH" WAS MADE AT A COST OF $717. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 51,000.
2007 SATURN AURA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAG PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, BACK IN JULY 2010. THE TECHNICIAN RETRIEVED A FAULT CODE OF 056. THE TECH INSPECTED THE UNIT FOR DAMPNESS, CLEANED AND DRIED THE MODULE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, BUT NO FAULT CODE APPEARED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, FOR A THIRD TIME. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $125 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. *JB
7-16-10 AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AS SOON AS I STARTED THE CAR. REPAIR THAT WAS DONE STATES "AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT ON W/DTCS B0081/B0092 IN SDOPCODE:C9780. "RETRIEVED FAULT CODE SET 056. TECH INSPECTED FOR DAMPNESS/WET DAMAGE, CLEANED MODULE & DRIED EASSEMBLED AND REZEROED MODULE ASSEMBLY. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS THE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AGAIN SPORADICALLY. 2-3-11 TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER FOR AIRBAG LIGHT SPORADICALLY TURNING ON. REPAIR STATES "32031 TESTED FOR CODES NO CODES FOUND, TESTED CIRCUIT, NO PROBLEM". LIGHT STILL CAME ON. 11-18-11 TOOK CARE FOR DEALER FOR AIRBAG LIGHT. I WAS ADVISED I NEEDED TO PAY FOR REPAIRS AS MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
IDENTICAL TO THE RECENT AIRBAG RELATED RECALL INITIATED AT CHRYSLER, GM HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, MOST NOTABLY THE SATURN AURA XR. MY VEHICLE IS A 2007 EDITION. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE IN 2010. FIRST, THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT NO PASSENGER WAS PRESENT. SECOND, THE "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" ICAW WOULD ANNUNCIATE, SOMETIMES WHILE IN MOTION AND SOMETIMES WHILE STATIONARY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE I GOT QUITE FLUSTERED. I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER AND TOOK IT TO THE LAST SATURN SERVICE CENTER IN FORT WORTH WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT I'D MOST ASSUREDLY FLOODED MY PASSENGER COMPARTMENT (NEVER DROVE THE CAR INTO A BODY OF WATER--CONFUSED???). THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE ACM, THE PASSENGER SENSING MAT, AND THE SEAT HEATER--TOTAL COST ~$1K. BUT MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. FAST FORWARD TO NOW WHEN I CONTACTED GM ABOUT MY CONCERNS SINCE NOBODY ELSE COULD HELP ME...GM STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I ASKED THE GM P.O.C. ABOUT THE TSB I HAD FOUND RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. I STATED MY CONCERNS FOR A TSB RELATED TO AIR BAGS OVER A 7 YEAR PERIOD. YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT. GM HAS HAD A TSB RELATED TO MY PROBLEM, AND THE SAME AIRBAG RELATED RECALL CHRYSLER JUST STARTED, FOR 7 YEARS!!! PLEASE ASSIST MYSELF AND OTHER CONSUMERS FROM BEING HURT BY THIS... *TR
I OWN A 2007 SATURN AURA XR WITH THE 3.6L V6 ENGINE. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION, IT MAKES A MOANING/GROANING NOISE WHICH EMANATES THOUGH OUT THE PASSENGER CABIN, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE SOUND GETS REALLY LOUD. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE STEERING PUMP OR OTHER MECHANICAL PART. I HAVE BEEN READING SATURN BOARDS AND WITH THIS VEHICLE, THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE THAT I HAVE MENTIONED. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUT OF SERVICE WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, THE LIGHT WOULD SHUT OFF. ALSO WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD DISENGAGE, AND IF THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS OFF,THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ENGAGE . NEITHER THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,950 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,763.
TRIED TO SET MY CRUISE CONTROL UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING CONDITIONS AND IT WOULDN'T SET. I INADVERTENTLY APPLIED THE BRAKE A FEW MINUTES LATER WHILE STILL TRYING TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AND I NOTICED MY "CRUISE ENGAGED" LIGHT APPEARED. AS I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE, THE CAR TRIED TO MAINTAIN THE CRUISE SPEED. I COULD ONLY DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL MODE BY SWITCHING CRUISE CONTROL TO THE OFF POSITION. THE SITUATION IS REPEATABLE. UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE CRUISE WILL NOT ENGAGE. WITH THE BRAKE APPLIED, THE CRUISE WILL ENGAGE AND WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO HOLD SPEED AS THE BRAKE IS APPLIED WITH EVEN GREATER FORCE - GIVING THE APPEARANCE THAT THE CAR IS ACCELERATING (OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE BACK TO THE SET SPEED). *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2007 SATURN AURA XR THAT WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2007. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER IN SEPT 2007 TO INVESTIGATE "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND "ESC" WARNING LIGHTS. ADDITIONALLY, I BEGAN NOTICING THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THEY WOULD BE ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEN WOULD GO OFF WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THIS MADE FOR VERY UNSETTLING DRIVING. I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO SATURN TWICE IN 2007 TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM BUT I HAS STARTED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER THAT NOW PROVIDES SERVICE FOR SATURN CUSTOMERS ON JUNE 22, 2010 TO ADDRESS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" IT. WELL THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. YOU CAN REMOTE START THE CAR AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. YOU CAN TURN THE CAR ON NORMALLY,, DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE BUT FAIL TO GO OFF. THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT DOESN'T APPEAR TO WANT TO WORK CORRECTLY EITHER. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE CORRECT SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM? PS-MY MILEAGE IS 18,000 MILES. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 SATURN AURA IN MAY 2010 WITH 36,000 MILES. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD OCCASIONALLY SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, IT DID IT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME I NOTICED (IT WAS AT NIGHT) THEN WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF, THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD COME ON BY THEMSELVES. AFTER STARTING TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MORE, I REALIZED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON MY THEMSELVES. THEY ONLY SHUT OFF WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THUS DRIVERS BEHIND ME THINK I AM RIDING MY BRAKES AND THEN WHEN I IN FACT USE THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE LIGHT SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. DEALERSHIPS AND SATURN/GM CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE BEEN NO HELP. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND FOUND 24,300 RESULTS OF SATURN AURA BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE NO WAY TO FIX IT, I HAVE REPLACED FUSES, SENSORS, PRESSURE SWITCHES, NOTHING HAS WORKED. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD THAT I WON'T EVEN LET RIDE IN MY CAR FOR FEAR I WILL BE REAR ENDED WITH HIM SHOULD MY BRAKE LIGHTS DECIDE NOT TO WORK. THERE HAS BEEN TIMES THAT THEY WON'T EVEN WORK AT ALL. THIS IS AN EVERYDAY PROBLEM. EVERYDAY MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ONLY GO OFF WHEN I ACTUALLY USE THE BRAKE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT IN AN ACCIDENT, AND IF IT IS SOMEONE IN MY VEHICLE, GM IS THE FIRST PLACE I'M GOING TO FOR ANSWERS. I HAVE OWNED GM VEHICLES FOR 15 YEARS AND AFTER THE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I RECEIVED (AFTER I FILED A BBB COMPLAINT) I WILL NEVER BUY GM AGAIN. *TR
THIS IS A PROBLEM KNOWN BY GM FOR SATURN AND IMPALAS FOR THE SAME TYPE-MODEL-SERIES VEHICLE AS THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 TECHNICAL BULLETINS ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM. THE BODY COMPUTER SETS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON INDEPENDENT OF BRAKE ACTUATION. THIS GIVES DRIVERS BEHIND THE SATURN THE FALSE INDICATION THE SATURN IS STOPPING CREATING CONFUSION IN THAT THE FOLLOWING DRIVERS NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAKING SIGNAL DISPLAYED. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BRAKE LIGHTS MOMENTARILY EXTINGUISH THEN OPERATE CORRECTLY. ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING CONCLUDES THE PROBLEM IS IN THE BODY COMPUTER TO AUTOMOBILE CONNECTOR. GM SAYS APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO ALL THE CONTACTS ON THE BODY COMPUTER TO AUTOMOBILE CONNECTOR SOLVES THE PROBLEM; THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AS THE PROBLEM RECURS. IF THE DRIVER IS ASTUTE ENOUGH TO NOTE THE PROBLEM (CRUISE CONTROL RELEASES AND WON'T SET, OR IF AT NIGHT SEES THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT REFLECTION IN THE REAR WINDSHIELD), APPLYING SIDEWAYS PRESSURE TO THE CONNECTOR MAY TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE PROBLEM... BUT IT WILL REOCCUR. SOME SHOPS WANT TO REPLACE THE BODY COMPUTER FOR $300 DOLLARS PLUS LABOR: I DID THIS ONCE. THIS MAY GIVE THE APPEARANCE OF FIXING THE PROBLEM AS THE BODY COMPUTER TO AUTOMOBILE CONNECTOR MUST BE REMOVED AND REATTACHED DURING THE PROCESS HOWEVER AGAIN, THIS TEMPORARILY RESOLVES THE PROBLEM BUT THE PROBLEM WILL REOCCUR. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2007 SATURN AURA ON 05/23/2010. THE SAME DAY I STARTED NOTICING MY CRUISE CONTROL WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. SOMETIME IT WOULD WORK, OTHER TIMES IT WOULDN'T. THEN I REALIZED WHEN I DROVE THE CAR HOME THAT NIGHT THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON AND THIS WAS CAUSING THE CRUISE TO NOT WORK. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SHUT THEM OFF. OPPOSITE OF WHAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING. SO WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON(CAME ON BY THEMSELVES) AND I ACTUALLY NEED TO STOP, THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN I USE THE BRAKE. A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION. WE REPLACED TWO PRESSURE SWITCHES IN THE BRAKE PEDAL THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. STILL NOT FIXED. WE ALSO REPLACED A FEW OTHER PARTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT STILL WASN'T CORRECTED. SO, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT AND WOULD NEED TO GO THRU MY WIRING ONE BY ONE AND INSPECT EVERYTHING AND WARNED ME IT WAS LIMITLESS HOW MUCH A REPAIR LIKE THAT COULD COST. SO, I CALLED SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE. I TALKED TO A WOMAN NAMED JUDY WHO WAS NO HELP. SHE GAVE ME A LIST OF REPAIRS TO BE DONE AND SAID I HAD TO GO THRU THAT LIST FIRST AND PAY FOR ALL THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET AND IF IT DIDN'T WORK THEN SHE WAS AT A LOSS TOO. I TOLD HER I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS VERY ISSUE ON NUMEROUS WEB SITE'S. SHE SAID THE COMPANY IS UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM. (WHICH I DOUBT). I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD SON WHO RIDES IN THE BACKSEAT OF THIS CAR AND IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE BEEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN INTO A STORE OR AN INTERSECTION AND PEOPLE HAVE COME FLYING UP BEHIND ME BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING ALMOST REAR ENDING ME. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OFF, ITS 8 SECONDS BEFORE THEY COME BACK ON.
TWO TIMES ? I ORIGINALLY HAD THE DRIVERS SEAT FRAME REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY IN APRIL 2009. RECENTLY IN DECEMBER 2012 IT BROKE AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY THE SEAT FRAME IS A POORLY ENGINEERED PRODUCT. THE ISSUE CAUSES THE SEAT TO LEAN INTO THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE AND ROCK WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT AND SOMETIMES IT SIMPLY CLUNKS DOWNWARDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE FACT THAT THE CLUNKING DOWN IS SUDDEN, IT IS QUITE STARTLING AND VERY DISTRACTING FROM WHAT'S IS GOING ON ROAD. THE CAR SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR FIVE DAYS WHILE GM'S CAC SUPPOSEDLY DELIBERATED ON MY REQUEST AND ONLY TO RETURN IT TO ME IN WORST CONDITION DUE TO THEIR INSPECTION. I'M NOT A SUPER HEAVY GUY, I AVERAGE 230 LBS. GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PART WITH THE COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE AND THE NUMEROUS WEB PAGES ALSO DESCRIBING THE PARTS FAILURE. I DRIVE A 2007 SATURN AURA AND RECENTLY THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TALKED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT SATURN AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $1200+ TO REMOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT AND FIX THE SENSOR. ALSO THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR SENSOR THAT TELLS YOU THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, IT TELLS YOU THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. TO FIX THAT WOULD COST ABOUT $420. *TR
SATURN AURA HAS ALREADY BEEN IN THE SHOP ALMOST 30 DAYS IN THE PAST YEAR. IT HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME I NEED NEW BACK BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS TURNED. IT MAKES A HORRIBLE HIGHPITCHED SCREECHING NOISE WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKES, WHEN YOU TURN, AND SOMETIMES WHEN YOU ARE JUST GOING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 SATURN AURA XR, GREAT CAR, BUT WHEN YOU HIT BUMPS, OR CROSS LANES WHERE THERE IS UNEVEN PAVEMENT THE STEERING OVER REACTS REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD YOU HOLD THE WHEEL. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO MOVE IN THE DIRECTION THAT THE UNEVEN PAVEMENT THROWS IT TOWARD, SO YOU HAVE TO OVER COMPENSATE QUICKLY BEFORE YOU HIT ANOTHER CAR NEXT TO YOU OR A GUARD RAIL. IT OFTEN FEELS LIKE THE POWER STEERING IS NOT RESPONSIVE ENOUGH BY THE SECOND AS IT'S NEEDED. NOW I HAVE DRIVEN A CHEVY MALIBU 08, WHICH IS THE SAME PLATFORM/CAR TO TEST THE STEERING, AND THE STEERING FELT SOLID AND HELD TOO IN THE SAME ROUTE. SO I THINK YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO GM'S POWER STEERING THAT THEY HAVE PUT INTO THE SATURN AURA, AS IT IS WAY TOO OVER REACTIVE, AND CREATES VIOLENT UNDERSTEER. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED THREE TIMES BY A MECHANIC AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITHIN THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERMANENT. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THE RUBBER AROUND THE CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED WHEN THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, 20,000 MILES. FAILED AGAIN AT APPROX 45-50 THOUSAND MILES. AIR BAGS ARE TURNED OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS. NEW FIX INCLUDED NEW WIRING AND SENSORS- PLUS A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS. GM OBVIOUSLY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM- THEY CHANGED HE WIRING ETC. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILING. THE SECOND FIX SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL- WITH THE PRICE PICKED UP BY GM. THIS FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND GENERALLY HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. THIS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY THE ROAD WAS NOT LEVEL AND WAS SLOPING DOWN TO THE RIGHT AND WITH THE "HYDRAULIC STEERING" YOU DO NOT HAVE A HARD GRIP ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING IT, THE CAR WILL GO TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT DEPENDING ON THE SLOP OF THE ROAD. IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE HIGHWAY MAKES A LONG GRADED CURVE, DEPENDING WHETHER IT IS A RIGHT OF LEFT CURVE, THE CAR WANTS TO CATAPULT YOU TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAT YOU ARE TURNING. I AM NOW ON MY 3RD. RACK AND PINION STEERING THAT WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND HYDRAULIC FLUID HAS BEEN ADDED ANOTHER 2 OR 3 TIMES. THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. SATURN 2007 AURA REAR BRAKES FAIL DUE TO MANUFACTURE PART DEFECT. OUR LEASED SATURNS REAR BRAKES BEGAN GRINDING 3 WEEKS AGO. WE HAD THE SATURN DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT. THEY SAID THE BRAKE PADS WERE SHOT AND HAVE DUG INTO THE ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKES SHOW LITTLE WARE. SATURN SAID THAT IT IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR THE REAR BRAKES TO FAIL BEFORE THE FRONT, HOWEVER GM INVESTIGATED AND OFFERED NO EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURE. GM CLOSED THE CASE (71-776581112) STATING THEY DETERMINED THEIR WAS NO DEFECT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT THE REAR BRAKES WORE THIS FAST AND FAILED THIS QUICK. *TR

THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION AND THE BCM HAS BEEN REPLACED. THIS WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. WITHIN A MONTH THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN TO HAPPEN AGAIN.THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND COSTLY ISSUE. I'VE ALMOST BEEN REARENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. FOR SAFETY REASONS I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND GMC SERVICE MECHANICS WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. SERVICE GARAGE AT SATURN DEALER JUST SAYS THIS IS A CONTINUED PROBLEM WITH THE AURA VEHICLES, BUT NOTHING IS GETTING RESOLVED. AGAIN, DOES SOMEONE REALLY HAVE TO BE KILLED TO GET THESE REAL ISSUES SETTLED? THESE ARE ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES, NOT WITH SOMETHING MINOR. I EXPERIENCED THE PARKING ISSUE BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. SATURN SAID IT WAS MY BATTERY AND CHARGED OVER $100 TO REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH I HAD A AAA REPORT SAYING THE BATTERY WAS FINE BEFORE THEY TOWED MY CAR IN. I LITERALLY DROVE THE CAR HOME FROM THE DEALER, PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. SATURN PICKED UP MY CAR FOR FREE AND FIXED THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY BUT REFUSED TO REFUND ME FOR THE BATTERY. TOOK IT BACK 4-5 TIMES, BUT WAS NOT ACTING UP WHILE IN THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. FINALLY BECAME REASONABLY PERSISTENT ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE WARRANTY WAS UP. THEY SUGGESTED A $1500 FIX. WHEN IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT IT WAS INITIALLY DIAGNOSED AT 13,000 MILES, THEY WERE NOT IMPRESSED. NO RECEIPT FOR THE RETURN VISITS DUE TO NO CHARGE, AND THEY HAD NO RECORD. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE, AND THIS RECALL (WHENEVER IT HAPPENS) WILL COST THEM JUST AS MUCH AND THE BAD PRESS WILL BE WORSE. THEY ONSTAR PERSONAL STATED THAT THE CODE REGARDING THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT, MEANT THAT THE AIRBAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IF I WAS IN A WRECK. SHE STATED THAT IT WAS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT SATURN AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO GET THE PART BECAUSE IT IS ON BACK ORDER, MEANING THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN MY CAR THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. I HAD SPOKEN TO A LADY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MY LIGHT COMING ON AND SHE HAD STATED THAT SHE WAS THERE FOR THAT SAME REASON. SHE ALSO DRIVES A 2007 SATURN AURA. I FEEL THAT SINCE THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS HAPPENING A LOT, THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. LET ME REMIND YOU THAT MOST PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A SEDAN IS USUALLY KIDS. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT TILL SOMEONE DIES TO HAVE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH IS INCORRECTLY PROGRAMMED, THIS CAUSES THE BRAKE LAMPS TO OPERATING IN A CONSTANT STATE OF ILLUMINATION WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT PRESSED, WORSE YET THE BRAKE LIGHTS SHUT OFF WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. BRAKES LIGHTS ARE REVERSED. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN MY FOOT IS OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL (WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED, WHEN I AM ACCELERATING/COASTING). WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT. WHEN THE ISSUE IS OCCURING THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK AND I ALSO HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO PUT IT IN GEAR. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP ON AND OFF FOR YEARS NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIX IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, PLEASE RECALL.
