TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOST POWER INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
VEHICLE IS 2008 SATURN AURA XR WITH AUTO 6-SPEED TRANS. WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED HARSHLY FROM 1 TO 2 THEN TO 3RD GEAR. IT REMAINED IN 3 GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TRANS REMAINS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR WHEN MOVING FORWARD. STILL CAN USE REVERSE GEAR. CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE SHOWS FAULT CODE P0700. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP VERIFIED FAILURE, SAID MOST LIKELY WAVE PLATE FAILED, AND THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE MODE FOR THIS TRANS. COMPONENT FOR LATER MODEL YEARS HAS BEEN MADE MORE ROBUST. FAILURES ARE COMMON FOR 2007-09 MODEL YEARS. REFERENCE GM TSB 09-07-30 012B. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, MY TEMP GAUGE SHOT UP JUST BEYOND THE 3/4 MARK INTO THE RED ZONE. I PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR ABOUT 14 MINUTES TILL THE GAUGE CAME DOWN TO JUST UNDER 1/2. I BEGAN TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND THE GAUGE KEPT JUMPING UP AND DOWN TILL I GOT HOME. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID RESERVOIR WAS ABOUT EMPTY. I ADDED RADIATOR FLUID AND LEFT THE CAR PARKED TILL THE NEXT DAY. DROVE THE CAR AROUND FOR ALMOST 29 DAYS WHEN IT BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, THE RESERVOIR WAS ABOUT EMPTY AGAIN. I LOOK UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT A LOT OF GM OWNERS WITH VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE 3.5L OR 3.9L ENGINES HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT GM WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE (GASKET LEAK AT THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK). ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE ENGINES BUT GM HAS NOT DONE A THING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. *TR
I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS/RADIO ETC. WENT OUT (I ALWAYS HAVE THEM ON) I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE CAR DIED. (WHICH IT DID NOT) I PLAYED AROUND WITH THE INSIDE DIMMER SWITCH AND THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND I DROVE OFF. BUT IT GOT ME THINKING ABOUT THE LATEST RECALL THAT I HAVE ON THIS CAR. RECALL NO. 13036. I ACTUALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT YOUR PLACE YESTERDAY (REFERENCE NO. 663360) SINCE I WAS LEARY OF DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A RECALL AS SUCH. I WAS GIVEN GM PHONE NO. AND UPON SPEAKING WITH THEM THEY STILL DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BECOME AVAILABLE AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT APPROVE ME FOR A LOANER CAR. SO IF ANY OF THIS RECALL SHOULD HAPPEN IT CERTAINLY IMPOSES THE RISK OF A CRASH. I DO MUCH HIGHWAY DRIVING (EVERYDAY FOR WORK) SO IF I DRIVE AND MY BRAKES DO NOT COME ON I CANNOT IMAGINE THE IMPACT AT 65MPH IN A REAR END COLLISION. I AM SO NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR. MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN I DON'T USE THEM AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. I'VE HAD THE CAR IN THREE TIMES TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AND IT NEEDS TO GO AGAIN! *TR
I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF A RECALL FROM GM ON MY VEHICLE AT THE END OF JUNE/BEGINNING OF JULY FOR A POWER STEERING ISSUE. THE NOTICE SAID I WOULD BE FURTHER CONTACTED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. ON 7/19/14, I BEGAN NOTICING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH MY STEERING: THE WHEEL WOULD CLICK AND TURN SLIGHTLY LEFT TO RIGHT, SOMETIMES WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR WAS STOPPED (AT A LIGHT). ON 7/22/14, THE WHEEL TURNED SLIGHTLY AND CLICKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND MY POWER STEERING INDICATOR WARNING BEGAN FLASHING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO HANDLES SATURNS AND THEY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS. THE INDICATOR LIGHT ONLY CAME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY AT THE TIME AND THEY DID NOT ADDRESS THE STEERING ISSUE RELATED TO THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY SAID GM HAD NOT SENT PARTS YET. THEY WERE EXTREMELY DISMISSIVE OF MY CONCERNS. SINCE THAT TIME, THE POWER STEERING WARNING HAS PROGRESSED TO STAYING ON ALL OF THE TIME WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATING. UPON STARTING, THE WHEEL CLICKS AND TURNS SLIGHTLY, A CHIME SOUNDS, AND THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR WARNING COMES ON AND STAYS ON. I HAVE HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK THE STEERING AS WELL AND HE AGREES THAT THE ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE RECALL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS I FEEL A FAILURE IN THE POWER STEERING MAY BE IMMINENT. IF IT FAILS FOR INSTANCE WHILE I AM CHANGING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AND I AM NOT ABLE TO EASILY STEER THE CAR INTO THE PROPER LANE, I COULD BE INVOLVED IN A CRASH, WHICH COULD RESULT IN ONE OR MORE FATALITIES. THE GM DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO CONTACT GM TO TRY TO GET PARTS QUICKLY. AFTER A HEATED ARGUMENT, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY EMAILED GM AND THEY HAVE HAD NO REPLY. *TR
FROM THE OWNER'S MANUAL: "THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC SHIFT LOCK RELEASE SYSTEM. THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE IS DESIGNED TO: (1) PREVENT IGNITION KEY REMOVAL UNLESS THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN PARK (P) WITH THE SHIFT LEVER BUTTON FULLY RELEASED, AND (2) PREVENT MOVEMENT OF THE SHIFT LEVER OUT OF PARK (P), UNLESS THE IGNITION IS IN ON/RUN OR ACC/ACCESSORY AND THE REGULAR BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED. THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE IS ALWAYS FUNCTIONAL EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF AN UNCHARGED OR LOW VOLTAGE (LESS THAN 9 VOLT) BATTERY. IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS AN UNCHARGED BATTERY OR A BATTERY WITH LOW VOLTAGE, TRY CHARGING OR JUMP STARTING THE BATTERY. SEE JUMP STARTING ON PAGE 5-43 FOR MORE INFORMATION." THE CAR HAS A V6 ENGINE AND FROM PARK, WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND THE IGNITION IN THE OFF POSITION, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT BEFORE ANY PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE OCCURRED. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE AND REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED AND DOES NOT HAVE LOW VOLTAGE. WHILE I'VE BEEN LUCK THERE HAS BEEN NO PERSONAL OR PROPERTY DAMAGE SUSTAINED, IT'S EASY TO SEE THAT IT CAN HAPPEN. ESPECIALLY IF AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAN BE LEFT IN GEAR, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AND THE KEYS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR OCTOBER 10, 2007 AND THE DOOR LABEL INDICATES IT WAS BUILT IN OCTOBER 2007, SO THE BUILD DATE FOR THIS CAR WAS BETWEEN 10/1 AND 10/10/2007. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WENT ON MY CAR. IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER MY VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS CHANGE LANES. NOW THE CASEY CHEVROLET IS SAYING THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM (EPS). HOWEVER WHEN DOING MY RESEARCH TO PRICE HOW MUCH IT COST I SEE MULTIPLE RECALLS IN REGARDS TO THE EPS. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP RANDOMLY. I AM ABLE TO STEER HOWEVER IT IS VERY HARD, I BASICALLY LOOSE MY POWER STEERING. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY BECAUSE EACH OF THE 4 TIMES IT HAS OCCURRED I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. EACH TIME, I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT AND EVERYTHING IS FINE. I HAVE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC , VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
ON JULY 14, 2014, INTERIOR DOOR LOCKS STOPPED UNLOCKING AND LOCKING. CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND IS INTERMITTENTLY LOCKING BY ITSELF. I AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GET LOCKED IN THIS CAR. BASED ON THE COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AFTER BEING IN THE CAR FOR NO MORE THAN 15 MINUTES, MY REAR BRAKE LAMP WENT ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WOULD ONLY SHUT OFF IF I TAPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. ALSO MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THIS HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVER SINCE. I FEEL THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC AND THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME DO NOT KNOW WHEN I AM ACTUALLY COMING TO A STOP! IRONICALLY, WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE LAST WEEK REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH A LOCAL DEALER AND GM DIRECTLY AND NEITHER PARTY CAN TELL ME WHEN THE REPAIRS WILL BE MADE AS THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I AM FEELING EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND HELPLESS. THERE IS ALSO A RECALL OUT THERE # 14118 FOR LOSS OF POWER STEERING DATED LAST MONTH AND STILL HAVE HEARD NOTHING FURTHER ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO UNLOCK. THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST OCCURRENCE IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. POWER DOOR LOCK MECH FAILS TO UNLOCK ON DOOR, THIS WILL SOMETIMES CAUSE DOOR TO NOT UNLOCK. CONCERN IS IN A ACCIDENT, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT CAR. MANUFACTURE SEEMS TO KNOW THIS HAPPENS. *TR
2008 SATURN AURA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BODY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION SYSTEM RECALL NOTICE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATING, PRIOR TO THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER ATTACHED THE RECALL NOTICE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR ALONG COASTAL HIGHWAY NEAR BETHANY, DE OUR TRANSMISSION BECAME DISENGAGED ( NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEAR). I WAS ABLE TO COAST ACROSS FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC AND PARKED THE CAR ON A SIDE ROAD. AT THAT TIME I NOTICED AN ENGINE ALERT AND WE RECEIVED AN ON-STAR ALERT MESSAGE BUT COULD NOT GET THE INFORMATION WITHOUT INTENT. WE CALLED AAA AND THEY TOWED MY CAR TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP IN BELIN, MD. AT THIS REPAIR SHOP I WAS INFORMED THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS "TOASTED AND WOULD COST AROUND $4,800 TO REPLACE. I HAD TO RENT A CAR AND MOVE OUT OF MY RENTED CONDO AND THEN RETURNED TO MY HOME NEAR BALTIMORE, MD. I DISCUSSED MY PROBLEM WITH MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE SUGGESTED THAT A TRANSMISSION COMPANY LOOK AT THE CONDITION OF THE TRANSMISSION IT COULD BE REPAIRABLE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FOR MY CAR (XR 6-3.6L) HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE GM 6T70 IN THE WAVE PLATES. I ARRANGED AT GREAT EXPENSE TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED 150 MILES TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP NEAR MY HOME. WE HAVE BEEN GM OWNERS SINCE 1985 WITH MANY GOOD EXPERIENCES BUT THE 2008 AURA HAS BEEN HAD MANY PROBLEMS (LAST YEARFOR SATURN) AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH THE GM DEALERSHIP. IF GM HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED TO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE. MY SEARCHING THE INTERNET I SEE THAT MY CAR HAS SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES ( TRANSMISSION SHIFTING CABLE, STEERING POWER ASSIST SYSTEM ETC) BUT WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE ALTHOUGH WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND HAVE LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS FOR THE LAST 17-YEARS. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THEM THAT THE SHIFT CABLE AND BRACKET WERE BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THE DEALER SAYS THIS VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL 14152. CALLED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE BUT WAS REFERRED BACK TO DEALER. THIS VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE LISTED IN THE RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND 14V153000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND MY CAR SEEMED TO SHIFT ODDLY BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEARS. ROUGH, JERKY AND REVVING WHEN IT DIDN'T NEED TO. WHEN I WAS BACKING INTO MY PARKING SPACE IN THE GARAGE, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY POWER. IT HESITATED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO AND THEN IT FINALLY MOVED. I HAD TO DO THIS TWO OR THREE TIMES TO GET INTO MY PARKING SPOT AND EACH TIME IT WAS WORSE. I CALLED THE SHOP AND HAD IT TOWED BECAUSE I SUSPECTED THE TRANSMISSION WAS HAVING ISSUES, AND EVEN SAW ONLINE THAT THERE HAD BEEN SOME RECALLS ON THE SATURN AURA FOR THAT YEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE DEALER SAID THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION NOW ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR NEAR MY HOME I TRIED TO GO IN REVERSE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CAR ALSO WILL NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. *TR
AFTER STOPPING THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY MY WIFE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WHEN SHE REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS. WHILE TRYING TO GET THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK IT CONTINUED TO ROLL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND INTO THE STREET. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR PUT BACK INTO A FORWARD GEAR AND DRIVE BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHERE WHEN PUT BACK INTO PARK IT WAS IN REVERSE AGAIN (THE INDICATOR SHOWED PARK BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE). AT THAT TIME I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (FISHER CHEVROLET) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE HAD BROKEN. I THEN CHECKED THE RECALL LIST AND FOUND THAT THE SATURN AURA HAD A RECALL FOR THAT SPECIFIC ISSUE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000). WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT OUR CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST!!? WE THEN CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CABLE HAD BEEN INSPECTED PRIOR TO THE RECALL AND WAS DETERMINED TO NOT BE A PROBLEM AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. TALKING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND ASKING HIM ABOUT THE INSPECTION HE TOLD US THAT THEY HAD NOT INSPECTED THE CABLE AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY OUR CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. IF A VEHICLE MODEL IS RECALLED FOR A SPECIFIC PROBLEM AND A VEHICLE ACTUALLY HAS THAT ISSUE OCCUR WOULDN'T THAT INDICATE THAT VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? *TR
LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TRANSMISSION, GM TOLD ME TCM, I REPLACED FOR $1277. GOT THE CAR BACK STILL SAME PROBLEM NOW THEY SAY I NEED A TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

ON MONDAY, JUNE 16 I PARKED MY CAR AFTER PURCHASING AN ITEM AT DRIVE-THROUGH WINDOW. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START IT, IT WOULD NOT START. THE GEAR SHIFT MOVED THROUGH ALL OF THE INDICATORS (PRD...) AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS NEARLY HITTING ANOTHER CAR. I CALLED FOR A TOW, AND THE DRIVER NOTED THE PROBLEM. TODAY, PEP BOYS COMPLETED REPAIR OF THE THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY. 2 YEARS AGO I COMPLAINED TO GM CONCERNING THE CAR MOVING WHEN IT WAS IN PARK TO NO AVAIL. ON WED MY GRANDSON WAS APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN IN THE AUTO WOULD NOT SHIFT. AS HE I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE IT WOULD NOT BACK UP. I HAD HIM DRIVE TO THE END OF THE CU-DE-SAC WHERE WE COULD TURN AROUND AND BROUGHT THE CAR HOME WHERE IT HAS SAT. *TR
OPENING THE DOOR AND SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, THE SEAT SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT. AS I GOT OUT OF THE SEAT, IT ROCKED TO THE LEFT. THE WELDS ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE FRAME ON THE BASE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS BROKEN. *TR
THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR, CONFIRMED BY THE TRANSMISSION CENTER THAT HAS IT: THE TRANSMISSION WAVE PLATE IS BROKEN AND THE SNAP RING WHICH HOLDS IT IN PLACE IS IN PIECES. ALL PARTS ARE BEING SAVED FOR ME. A DETAILED REPORT IS BEING PREPARED. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN #09-07-30-012 WAS ISSUED BY GM ON THIS DEFECT. NO RECALL HAS EVER BEEN ISSUED. THE FAILURE RESULTING FROM THIS ERROR IS COMMON, AND INCONSISTENTLY ADDRESSED BY GM. THERE IS NO DRIVER ERROR OR MAINTENANCE ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE THIS FAULT. MY CAR RECEIVED REGULAR DEALER SERVICE THE ENTIRE TIME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND NO MENTION OF THIS PROBLEM WAS EVER MADE, NOR DID ANYONE AT THE DEALERSHIP OFFER TO REPAIR IT, EVEN WHEN ANOTHER SERIOUS ENGINE REPAIR, ALSO UNDER WARRANTY, AND ALSO DUE TO A MANUFACTURING ERROR, WAS BEING UNDERTAKEN. *JS

AFTER STOPPING THE CAR, THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE. THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN ANY POSITION. THEREFORE, VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS WAS "SHIFT CABLE SEPARATED" AND REPLACED THE CABLE AND BRACKET FOR A COST OF $345.26. GM HAS REFUSED TO COVER THIS UNDER RECALL # 14152. I HAVE SUBMITTED THE DETAILS TO THEM TODAY AND REQUESTED THEM TO COVER IT UNDER THE RECALL. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ACROSS THE PARKING LOT GOING TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT. MY SON WAS IN THE REAR LEFT PASSENGER SEAT. AS I BEGAN TURNING THE WHEEL, THE CAR LOCKED UP, HESITATED, THEN QUICKLY SPED UP. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ABILITY TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, THE VEHICLE STUCK THE CURBSIDE AND THEN A TREE. MY SON AND I WERE NOT INJURED, ONLY SHOOK UP. JUST RECENTLY MY 2008 SATURN AURA HAS BEEN HIT OR MISS WITH STARTING. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED 1 MONTH AGO & THERE AREN'T ANY OTHER KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE; 45,000. THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WILL NOT START. NO NOISES, IT JUST WON'T TURN ON. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO TURN THE KEY MANY TIMES FOR IT EVENTUALLY START. I'M WONDERING IF IT'S POSSIBLY THE IGNITION SWITCH AND IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER REPORTED INCIDENTS. I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING ON MY 2008 SATURN AURA OVER A YEAR AGO (APPROXIMATELY JANUARY-MARCH 2013). I HAD SOME TEMPORARY FIXES DONE TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM, BUT ON APPROXIMATELY APRIL 1, 2014, MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM TOTALLY FAILED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITHOUT POWER STEERING SINCE THIS TIME. I HAD READ THAT MANY 2008 SATURN AURA'S WERE BEING RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND HOPED THAT MY AURA WOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. WHEN I REALIZED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, I HAD AN ESTIMATE DONE TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING FIXED. THE ESTIMATE I RECEIVED WAS OVER $1,200.00. BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY READILY AVAILABLE, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED THAT GM IS NOT COVERING MORE OF THE VEHICLES THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. MY SPEAKERS WHEN OUT SOON AFTER THIS. I CALLED GM NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS AND THERE NOT WILLING TO HELP AT ALL. I'M SICK TO DEATH BY THE THOUGHT THAT THERE JUST GONNA GET AWAY WITH THIS.
