MY KEY HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN THE IGNITION IN THE "ON" POSITION THREE TIMES NOW. I HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE THE PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR THREE TIMES. MY BALL JOINTS HAVE GONE OUT. MECHANICS SAY THIS IS VERY ODD FOR A NEWER VEHICLE (2006 SATURN). *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP), DUE TO THE STATE THE VEHICLE WAS REGISTERED IN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING UNIT MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING UNIT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN CROSS TRAFFIC. WAITED FOR A BREAK IN CARS TO GO. I HIT THE GAS AND IT MOVED THEN THE ENGINE DIED IN CROSS TRAFFIC. MY WIFE ALMOST GOT HIT FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE MIL LIGHT CAME ON. I AM A MECHANIC FOR THE STATE OF IDAHO. I COULD SEE FUEL DRIPPING. I REMOVE FUEL TANK TO FIND LEAK. FOUND TO BE A CRACKED FUEL PUMP. THIS IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. *TR
THE FUEL PUMP ON MY 2006 ION WITH ONLY 43,500 MILES NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP DO TO FAILURE THAT IS COVERED UNDER GM RECALL 09226 IN CERTAIN STATES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT IS FIXED SINCE THIS ISSUE IS A FIRE HAZARD. I HAVE REQUESTED THE REPAIR, QUOTED AT OVER $1000, TO BE COVERED IN FULL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS FAILURE IS THE EXACT ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, BUT THE DEALER AND GM DO NOT SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT POTENTIALLY LOSING ALL OF MY BUSINESS FOR REPAIRS AND FUTURE VEHICLE PURCHASES. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I HAVE A SATURN ION VIN NUMBER [XXX], THIS CAR HAS A RECALL FOR FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP, WELL MY CAR HAS A FUEL LEAKAGE UNDER, I CALLED GM 1800 NUMBER THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO GO TO A CHEVROLET DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, I CALL THIS JUPITER CHEVROLET DEALER I SPOKE WITH ANTHONY, HE TOLD ME HE WILL GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS, HE SAID I HAVE TO PAY THE DIAGNOSTIC BETWEEN 90-100 DOLLARS, I TOLD HIM, MY CAR HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL, HE ASKED FOR THE LAST 8 DIGITS OF MY VIN NUMBER AND HE SAID, MY CAR WAS NOT IN RECALL, I TOLD HIM BUT IS A 2006 SATURN ION I HAVE A FUEL LEAK, MY FUEL IS DRIPPING, I CANT DRIVE MY CAR LIKE THAT, IT'S UNSAFE, WELL HE TOLD ME IF MY CAR IS NOT IN RECALL I HAVE TO REPAIR MY CAR ON MY OWN, I DON'T UNDERSTAND, MY CAR HAS THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL, AND THE DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING? THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN SOME INSTANCE THE KEY BECAME LODGE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH PREVENTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TURN OFF. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE STATES MENTIONED IN THE RECALL THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
POWER STEERING INDICATOR WOULD COME ON AND STEERING ABILITY WILL DISAPPEAR. RESTARTING CAR MADE THE STEERING COME BACK FOR ABOUT A FEW SECONDS, BUT THEN POWER STEERING INDICATOR WOULD COME BACK ON AGAIN. CAR TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED UNDER SPECIAL WARRANTY. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A LITTLE OVER TWO YEARS, MY KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OR TURN OFF MY ENGINE. IT HAPPENED WHEN I STOPPED FOR GAS. I HAVE A STICK SHIFT AND SO I STALLED THE CAR IN ORDER TO STOP IT FROM RUNNING. I HAD TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE CAR AND, THANKFULLY, HAD ANOTHER KEY TO LOCK THE CAR DOOR WHEN I WASN'T IN IT. THE COST TO REPAIR BY THE DEALER WAS BETWEEN $500 AND $600. THE FIRST TIME I PAID $100 BUT I WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE REPAIR IS BEING DONE LOCALLY BY A MECHANIC FOR $300. THEY HAVE TO TAKE APART THE STEERING WHEEL SO THAT THEY CAN GET TO THE IGNITION. IT IS A TUMBLER PROBLEM WITHIN THE IGNITION. THIS HAS TO BE REPLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL, CAUSING THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS THE DOOR WAS SHUT, BUT WOULD NOT REOPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE WINDOW DETACHED FROM ITS TRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING RECURRING FAILURES IN WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE KEY WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE IN REGARDS TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IN REGARDS TO THE KEY BECOMING STUCK IN THE IGNITION, NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,080. UPDATED 08/31/2011 *LN *TR

THE KEY REMAINED STUCK IN THE IGNITION ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE DEALER STATED A CYLINDER IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 161,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

DRIVING ON 295 HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPR, CAR HAD POWER STEERING ERROR, COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING. THERE WERE TWO CHILDREN IN BACK . THE CAR WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD. THE CAR IS A SATURN ION- I FEEL THIS WOULD OF BEEN A CAR ACCIDENT IF I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT SLOWED DOWN. I TOOK THE SATURN TO GM DEALER ADVISING THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX AT NO CHARGE DESPITE ME GIVING THEM BULLETIN 10187. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I FOUND THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH SATURN IONS 2004-2007. *TR

ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT POWER OFF AND WAS LEFT RUNNING FOR SEVENTEEN HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DISCONNECTED THE IGNITION AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,130.
2006 SATURN ION. CONSUMER STATES POWER STEERING ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, SHE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER ASSIST STEERING MOTOR. *JB
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON AND STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF AND DIFFICULT. POWERED MY ION OFF THEN ON AND POWER STEERING WORKED. TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED AND MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM HE COULD FIND WITH THE POWER STEERING. *TR
EVERY FEW WEEKS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING MY POWER STEERING FAILS AND IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE CAR UNTIL STOPPED. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE AND AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, SOMETIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS SITTING AND OTHER TIMES WHEN DRIVING. WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND OWNED THE VEHICLE GM DID REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN THREE TIMES. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS AND THIS PROBLEM IS STILL ONGOING AND IT'S VERY UNSAFE. NOW ALONG WITH THE IGNITION RECALL I FEEL THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FIT FOR USE ON PUBLIC ROADS. IF THERE IS A SOLUTION TO GET THIS VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2006 SATURN ION, THE "PWR STR" LIGHT CAME ON AND SHE LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL. SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE RESUMED THE POWER STEERING TO THE VEHICLE BUT REPEATED THE FAILURE NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THIS IS NOW OCCURRING NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS I BELIEVE IS A SAFETY RELATED ITEM WHICH SHOULD REQUIRE A RECALL OF THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS BARELY DRIVABLE BECAUSE IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE TURNS. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES. *TR
MY 2006 SATURN ION WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THEY GM COMPANY SAYS THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. I HAVE READ ALOT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM SATURN OWNERS AND I FEEL THAT THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSES FOR SAFETY REASONS. *TR
THE FRONT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES MAKE NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR UNEVEN SURFACES. THUMPING, RATTLING FROM FRONT OF CAR WITH SUSPENSION. THE CONTROL ARMS AND SHIFTS ARE WORN AND NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED WITH NEW BUSHINGS AND NEW BALL JOINTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
2006 SATURN ION. CONSUMER STATES IN JUNE 2011 THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE *TGW THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTO CARE CENTER, WHERE HE WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL. THE CONSUMER THEN CONTACTED SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT GENERAL MOTORS WOULD BE RELEASING RECALLS IN A BATCH AND THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE PARTS. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR A FUEL LEAK. THE CONSUMER APPROVED THE REPAIR ESTIMATE OF $500 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP, BECAUSE EVIDENCE SHOWED FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE PUMP. SATURN ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO CONTACT THEM, ONCE HE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER SO HE COULD BE REIMBURSED, BUT UNTIL THEN, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *JB
IN THE LAST YEAR THE IGNITION CYLINDER IN MY CAR HAS MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING MY CAR TO REMAIN ON AND LOCKING THE KEY IN PLACE. THE KEY IS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED AND THE CAR CONTINUES TO RUN. THE CYLINDER WAS REPLACED ON 8/26/10 AND MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN TODAY 5/30/11. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM THAT SATURN HAS IGNORED. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY RISK AND THE PARTS SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

ON 4/26/11, I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, WHICH WAS COVERED BY A RECALL. AT THAT TIME, I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT HAD A 30 DAY AND 1,000 MILES WAITING PERIOD. ON 5/22/11, I DROVE HOME AND WENT TO TURN MY KEY OFF AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I HAD TO CALL AAA TO COME OUT AND THEY PULLED A FUSE TO GET THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF. THEN THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND PUT THE FUSE BACK IN. I HAD TO HOOK THE BATTERY BACK UP TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER LOCK AND HOUSING FOR A COST OF $594.00. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE AND BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL! I HAVE SEEN 138 COMPLAINTS JUST ON THIS ISSUE ALONE. WHAT DOES IT TAKE? *TR
KEY STUCK IN CAR EVERY DAY SINCE I HAVE PURCHASE THE CAR. VEHICLE DOOR AND TRUCK LOCKS QUIT WORKING, AT THE SAME TIME ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED FUSE LOCKING MECHANISMS STARTED WORKING AND ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS THE LOCKING MECHANISMS WENT BACK OUT ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING BACK ON. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THAT THE BCM WAS GOING OUT ON VEHICLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $800.00 TO REPLACE BCM. BCM IS NOW STARTING TO EFFECT THE ELECTRICAL IN THE VEHICLE. AIR STOPPED WORKING, I HAD IT CHARGED AND STILL WILL NOT WORK.
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. ONCE YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK FOR A SHORT WHILE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED A FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DETECTED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKING CONSISTENTLY. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
2006 SATURN ION 2 SEDAN: "PWR STR" LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I STOPPED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AND I DROVE 1/2 OF A MILE AND "PWR STR" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AGAIN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF; HOWEVER, THE SHE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,961.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. IT OCCURRED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS OF DRIVING. AT THAT SPEED IT WAS NOT ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT TO STEER BUT WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE WARNING LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE POWER STEERING THEN WORKED. TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO MY MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT IT WAS THE POWER STEERING MODULE. THE SAME AS WAS RECALLED BY GM ALTHOUGH OUR 2006 SATURN ION WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS, THE SATURN ION 3 POWER STEERING WILL INTERMITENTLY GO OUT. WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR THE POWER STEERING WORKS FINE, AND THEN AT ANY RANDOM TIME THE CAR MAKES A DING,DING NOISE AND THEN THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. IF THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON THE POWER STEERING IS FINE. THEN A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT TURNS OFF AGAIN, ALMOST EVERY DAY. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN CORNERS. THE NEXT PROBLEM IS IF IT IS DAMP OR COLD (BELOW 60) IN THE MORNING AT 8AM THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER OR START, UNTIL THE SUN COMES OUT AND WARMS UP THE CAR, BY NOON THE CAR STARTS JUST FINE. I CAN GET IT STARTED IF I PLACE TWO WARM BLANKETS ON THE BATTERY AND MOTOR AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES, THEN THE CAR WILL START. THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOWS HAVE ALSO STOPPED WORKING. *TR

I RECENTLY HAVE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN MY 2006 SATURN ION. THIS HAS RANDOMLY OCCURRED FOUR TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS. SUDDENLY, THE WARNING MESSAGE "PWR STR" WILL APPEAR IN PLACE OF MY DIGITAL ODOMETER READING AND THE CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY LOSE POWER STEERING AND BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I HAVE FOUND THAT AM ABLE TO "RESET" THE STEERING BY PULLING OVER AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO TWO WEEKS AGO. THE CAR HAS APPROX 185K MILES ON IT. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE TODAY (THE FOURTH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED), I DID A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT NHTSA IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING SATURN IONS FOR THIS ISSUE (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : RQ10004), TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER GM CARS. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS COMPLAINT IN YOUR INVESTIGATION. *TR
DRIVING WITH TRAFFIC, THE CAR DIES AND THE STEERING GETS VERY HARD TO TURN THEN BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. CAR WILL RESTART WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THIS WILL HAPPEN AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. TOOK TO THE DEALER THEY FIXED THE GAS TANK LEAK AND OTHER RECALL PARTS. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS THE STEERING OR ELECTRICAL. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED YOUR GOING OR IF YOUR GOING STRAIGHT OR TURNING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED THE THERMOSTAT, CHECKED THE FUSE BOX CHECKED. THE DEALER CHECKED AND FIXED THE OTHER 3 THINGS FROM RECALL AS STATED. THE IGNITION SOMETIMES GETS STUCK WHEN THE STEERING GOES OUT YOU CAN NOT GET THE KEY TO DO ANYTHING UNTIL YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT HAS NO POWER THEN YOU CAN RESTART THE CAR. ALSO THE CAR HEAT GAUGE NEVER GOES ABOVE HALF WAY SO CAR IS NOT OVER HEATING.
