TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND PRETENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT COMES ON WITH TROUBLE CODE B0092 IN PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN REPAIR FACILITY 6 TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM, AND RE-OCCURS WITHIN A FEW MILES OF REPAIR. REPLACEMENT OF PPS MODULE IN PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED THE 2007 IN MAY OF 2007. AS OF TODAY, THE CAR HAS 18,000 ON IT. DIRECTLY AFTER I GOT THE CAR, I BEGAN TO HAVE SEVERE HEADACHES. THE CAR MOSTLY RAN WITHOUT ANY ISSUES, JUST THAT I HAS VERY BAD HEADACHES, AND THEN BEGAN TO BLACK OUT WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL MEDICAL BILLS, INCLUDING A 5 DAY STAY IN JUNE AFTER AN ACCIDENT. ALL OF THE TESTS COMPLETED SHOWED THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY TUMORS, HOWEVER I DID HAVE A RISE IN THE CO LEVELS. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER,AND A DEVISE WAS PLACED ON THE CAR. THE DEALER THEN DROVE THE CAR HOME, AND SAID THAT HE FELT LIGHT HEADED, AND WAS UNSURE IF IT WAS THE CAR. HE THEN DROVE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING AND PLACED THE DEVICE ON IT AGAIN. ON 2 OCCASIONS HE REPORTED TO ME THAT HE HAD RECORDED DIFFERENT READINGS, BOTH VERY HIGH. HE THEN CALLED SATURN DIRECTLY, AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO WAIT AND HE WOULD SEND ANOTHER DEVICE TO RECORD THE CO LEVELS. THAT SAME EVENING, I WAS CALLED BY DAVID QUIRK THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS, AND HE SAID THAT HE PERSONALLY DROVE THE CAR AND TOOK IT TO THE CAR TO A FIRE HOUSE, AND HAD A FIREMAN THAT HE KNEW AND HE SAID THAT HE COULD NOT DETECT ANYTHING IN THE CAR. CLEARLY, THIS WAS JUST A TACTIC TO SEE IF I WAS GOING TO SUE HIM. I ONLY WANT FOR THE CAR TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BEGAN TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN JANUARY OF 2008 AND THEY INITIALLY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED. THE FIRST REPAIR WAS NOT MADE UNTIL FEBRUARY 25, 2008. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN MARCH AND AGAIN ON APRIL 14TH. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO REMOVE THE AFTERMARKET LIGHTS SHE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE LIGHTS WERE REMOVED, THE VEHICLE MET THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR AGAIN AND ON APRIL 23, 2008, THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE FIVE MILES BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 13,000. UPDATED 05/20/08. *LJ UPDATED 05/20/08
VEHICLE TRAVELED THROUGH WATER PUDDLE ON A RAIN SOAKED ROADWAY. PUDDLE WAS NO DEEPER THAN MID- TIRE HEIGHT LEVEL. ENGINE STALLED OUT CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND SOME BRAKING ABILITY. ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND VEHICLE DROVE LESS THAN TWO MILES HOME. NEXT DAY, ENGINE STARTED AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. ENGINE SKIPPING AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT WATER HAD BEEN DRAWN INTO THE ENGINE AIR INTAKE, WHICH IS LOCATED AT FRONT BUMPER LEVEL ON RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE, AND INTO TRAVELED THROUGH THE SYSTEM INTO THE ENGINE. WATER PRESENT IN AT LEAST TWO CYLINDERS, INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND OIL PAN. ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. DEALER, NOR MANUFACTURER, WOULD HONOR WARRANTY. AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM FILED AND PAID. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE THIS MODEL IN RAINEY WEATHER. *TR
SINCE DAY ONE OF THIS VEHICLE WHICH HAD ONLY 11 MILES ON IT, YOU CAN NOT FILL THE GAS TANK. IF YOU GO PAST 1/2 A TANK OF GAS IN THE CAR IT SMELLS OF FUEL WHILE SITTING OR DRIVING. IT ONLY HAS 47,000 MILES ON THE CAR TODAY AND YOU STILL HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL TO ONLY PUT A LITTLE GAS IN THE TANK IF YOU DON'T WANT THE FUMES INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN FIXED UNDER A RECALL. IT IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE THE CAR IN FEAR OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. I CANNOT PARK THIS CAR IN MY GARAGE AS IT FILLED MY WHOLE HOUSE UP WITH GAS FUMES WHICH WAS VERY NAUSEATING TO SAY THE LEAST. THIS HAPPENS WHILE SITTING OR DRIVING
I PURCHASED MY 2007 ION IN OCTOBER 2007. WITHIN A MONTH OF ITS PURCHASE, I WAS AT THE DEALER GETTING THE CAR WASHED AND MENTIONED THAT THE CAR WAS "BREATHING HEAVY" LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL. THE SALES PERSON PACIFIED ME BY MENTIONING TO TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP WITH 3 - 5 CLICKS. THE WANTING TO STALL AND HEAVY BREATHING CONTINUED, SO THE SCIENCE PROJECT BEGAN. I TRIED SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS- MAY IT WAS BAD GAS; NO. I TRIED SWITCHING TO MEDIUM GRADE GAS; NO. THE CAR SEEMS TO IDLE LOW: 600RPMS. IT WOULD SHAKE AND RUMBLE LIKE IT S "COUGHING." I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER IN FEBRUARY 2008. THEY FOUND A SIX INCH SHARD OF METAL IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THEY DIDN'T SHOW IT TO ME. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHOLE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. I BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND A SENSOR. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. I BROUGHT IT IN A THIRD TIME. A FIELD INSPECTOR WAS TO BE IN THE AREA. HE COULDN'T MAKE IT SO THEY CONSULTED WITH HIM OVER THE TELEPHONE AND THE REPORT BACK TO ME WAS THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE STALLING, ALTHOUGH THEY COULD HEAR THE "HEAVY BREATHING" THE CAR IS WORKING IN NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. I DON'T ACCEPT THIS! THE CAR HAS A DEFECT AND TRIES TO STALL WEEKLY! THE MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING IS ON THE WEEKENDS WHICH IS WHEN THE PROBLEM IS MOST EVIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE GEAR SHIFTER OUT OF FIFTH GEAR. APPROXIMATELY 5-6 SECONDS LATER, THE GEAR SHIFTER DISENGAGED. AS OF DECEMBER 17, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,700.
THE POWER STEERING FAILS RANDOMLY WITHOUT WARNING ON MY 2007 SATURN ION. IT FAILED 3 TIMES TODAY. IT WOULD RESET IF YOU RESTART THE CAR, BUT THE STEERING BECOMES SO TIGHT THAT. *TR
WAS HEARING A POPPING,CLICKING, AND RUBBING SOUND AND TOOK TO SATURN THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID IT WAS MY HUB CAP MAKING THE NOISE. I WENT BACK ABOUT AN HOUR LATER AND HAD THEM REMOVE MY HUB CAP AND NOISE WAS EVEN WORSE AND YOU COULD FEEL IT UNDER YOU FEET. THEY SAID IT WAS MY HALF SHAFT ON THE LEFT SIDE SO A WEEK LATER THEY REPLACED IT. THAT WAS ON A FRIDAY AND BY MONDAY MORNING I WAS HEARING AND FEELING THE NOISE AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT BUT THAT I HAD A BENT RIM IN THE REAR. I LEFT BUT THEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND KNEW THAT WAS NOT RIGHT SO I WENT BACK YET AGAIN AND THEY LOOKED AT IT AND YOU COULD SEE WHERE MY TIRES AND RIMS ARE GRINDING INTO AND STARTING TO CUT MY TIE ROD ON THE RIGHT BUT THAT WAS "NORMAL" KNOWING IT WASN'T I PROCEEDED TO GO TO A 3RD PARTY SHOP AND PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE WHOLE CAR. TO NO SURPRISE TO ME THAT ISN'T "NORMAL" AND IF NOT FIXED SOON WILL CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES. THE 3RD PARTY ALSO NOTICED WHAT SATURN DID NOT AND THAT ON MY LEFT SIDE IT IS RUBBING ON NOT JUST THE TIE ROD BUT THE CONTROL ARM AS WELL. 3RD PARTY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE NOTHING THERE TO PREVENT ME FROM OVER TURNING MY WHEELS AND THAT IS WHY I AM HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. BUT ONLY AFTER CONTACTING THE BBB IN COLORADO SPRINGS DID THE GM OF SATURN OF COLORADO SPRINGS WANT TO LISTEN TO ME. I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT MY SAFETY AND MY SONS SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED APPROXIMATELY FOUR MINUTES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE SECOND FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND THE STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED A WIRE FROM THE HYBRID BATTERY TO THE GENERATOR. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,036 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. UPDATED 01-16-08. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS INSTALLED.
PROBLEMS WITH 2007 SATURN ION IGNITION CYLINDER AND PARK/LOCK INTERFACE. VEHICLE FREQUENTLY CAN NOT BE TURNED OFF. PARK/LOCK INTERFACE WILL NOT UNLOCK DOOR, WHEN IGNITION TURNED OFF. KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM IGNITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH). AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, THE ALARM SYSTEM CAUSED THE IGNITION SWITCH TO LOCK. THE FAILURE PREVENTED THE ENGINE FROM STARTING. THE ALARM WOULD SOUND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ALARM SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS WE WERE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF, 65, AND 55 MPH RESPECTIVELY WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD THUMPING NOISE. THE FIRST TIME ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE AS SOON AS WE PULLED OVER IT BLEW OUT. THE SECOND TIME ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WHEN WE FELT AROUND ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE WE COULD FEEL A KNOT ON THE SIDEWALL, WHERE IT WAS ABOUT TO FAIL JUST LIKE THE FIRST.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE REMOVED HIS HANDS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE FAILURE OCCURS WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 2-60 MPH. THE DEALER ALIGNED THE STEERING WHEEL BUT, AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,058.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO 30 MPH AND EVENTUALLY TO ZERO. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE JERKED UNTIL IT REACHED 30 MPH AND THEN IT DROVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE STALLED TWO MORE TIMES APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES LATER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THEY STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THE SECOND TIME THEY CHANGED THE SENSOR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR THE THIRD TIME ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2007. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT ANY TIME, THE KEY WOULD BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER REPAIRS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT'S BLOOD TEST INDICATED THAT HIS CARBON MONOXIDE LEVEL WAS HIGH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CARBON MONOXIDE READING INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WAS HIGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TESTED AT A FIRE HOUSE, BUT CARBON MONOXIDE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETECTED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED BAD HEADACHES AND FAINTED WHILE DRIVING LONG DISTANCES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000. UPDATED 01/08/08 *BF UPDATED
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME DIFFICULT TO STEER WHEN THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BLIND SPOT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE LOOKED OVER HER SHOULDER BEFORE CHANGING LANES, HER VISION WAS RESTRICTED AND SHE COULD NOT LOOK THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW. THE RESTRICTION WAS CAUSED BY THE METAL THAT WAS IN BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. SHE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE CHANGING LANES BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT SEE PROPERLY. WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE REAR MIRROR, HER VISION WAS ALSO RESTRICTED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ALLOWED HER TO TEST DRIVE A VEHICLE WITHOUT THE SPOILER, BUT THE FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,070. REAR VIEW MIRROR IS TOO LOW - DRIVER CAN NOT SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC FROM THE RIGHT. DRIVER MUST LOOK UNDER OR TO THE SIDE IN ORDER TO SEE-EXAMPLE - 4 WAY STOP, CANNOT SEE IF A VEHICLE IS AT THE STOP ON RIGHT. *JB
I WAS IN A 45 MPH FRONTAL CRASH IN MY 2007 SATURN ION SEDAN V.S THE REAR OF A 1994 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CRASH WAS OFFSET , IT SMASHED THE RIGHT HALF OF THE FRONT END. MY AIR BAGS FAILED. I SMASHED MY HEAD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD THE DEALER LOOK THE CAR OVER AND THEY HAD SAID THAT I DIDN'T HIT ANY OF THE "CRUSH SENSORS" HOW EVER THE BODY SHOP I TOOK THE CAR TOO SAID THAT THEY FOUND THAT CRUSH SENSORS WERE NOT USED IN THAT CAR. THEY TOLD ME SOMETHING ABOUT AN ACCELEROMETER?? I JUST WANT TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR TWO YEARS NOW. *TR
AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER AN AUTO ACCIDENT. I WAS CUT OFF BY A CAR FROM THE RIGHT LANE WHILE TRAVELING ON I280 IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. I WAS FORCED INTO THE NEXT LANE TO MY LEFT TO AVOID A COLLISION - I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT THE GUARDRAIL HEAD ON. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 60-65 MPH PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS A RENTAL (ENTERPRISE-RENT-A-CAR) - MY ATTEMPTS TO RECEIVE INFORMATION AS TO ANY POSSIBLE DEFECTS OF THE CAR FROM ENTERPRISE (& ELCO ADMIN SERVICES) HAVE PROVED FRUITLESS. I REPEATEDLY INFORMED ENTERPRISE THAT I WAS NOT INJURED AND THAT FOR MY OWN PIECE OF MIND I SIMPLY WANTED TO KNOW WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *NM
UPON PURCHASE OF VEHICLE, OVER DRIVEWAY SLOPES, OR OTHER ROAD BUMPS VEHICLE HAS LOUD POPPING AND CLUNKING NOISE. VEHICLE ALSO HAS POPPING NOISE AND FEELING UNDER FEET OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER WHILE STEERING AT STAND STILL OR WHILE DRIVING...VEHICLE WHEN EXPERIENCING ROAD HAZARDS THAT CAUSE BRAKING ACTION WHILE STEERING LOCKS UP AND JOLTS FORWARD CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE FOR RANDOM TIME AMOUNTS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER, TAKEN IN FOR REPAIRS, (3X) EACH TIME I HAVE BEEN TOLD PROBLEM IS FIXED, PROBLEM CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED. I DRIVE VEHICLE HOME AND THE PROBLEM IS EITHER PARTIALLY BETTER FOR A COUPLE WEEKS OR NOT BETTER AT ALL. DURING THE TIME THAT VEHICLE WAS PARTIALLY BETTER FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS A STRUT MOUNT WAS REPLACED ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 9,000 MILES (AFTER THE 2ND ATTEMPT TO DISCOVER ISSUE) 3RD ATTEMPT ONLY HAD A STEERING ISSUE ADDRESSED,(I SHAFT DRY AND BINDING) HOWEVER THIS HAS ONLY PARTIALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
